"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the Bodensee's breeze harness' will take us from Sky Platform 5 to the raised Neptunia border for the main assault.

The old Weatheria scientist took a steady bow, both hands clasping a long, colourful staff, his beard bending as it hit the ground. The Marines gathered gave a round of applause, many of them snapping awake at the loud sounds. Moreso than that were the hesitant, almost mocking applause coming from the smaller group of Bounty Hunters that had gathered.

Rising from his seat, a cane in hand, was the closed eyed Admiral of the Marines; Rousenheim "Brains" Quarton. As he made his way onto the podium to replace the old man, he gave the old Weatherian wizard a handshake. Standing by the podium, the blind man allowed everyone to quieten down before he began.

"Thank you, Doctor Spicer, for that lovely hour-long intermission as to how these Cloud Ships operate and function, I'm sure everyone was on the edge of their seat throughout its entirety."

Despite the hidden bout of sarcasm, Doctor Spencer gave a satisfied nod of his head, cockily folding his arms across each other and sticking his legs out.

"Allow me to get to the point. All of you present today were chosen, whether it be from your personal talents and experience, or because of your reputations. The operation itself is simple, in essence. The first squad, Team Cirrus, will be the first to infiltrate Neptunia through the Cloud Ship; Nordstern. They will enter the city and quickly dissolve within the crowds. No doubt Den Den Mushi lines will be monitored, so only use the bare minimum of radio communications. Once that has been completed, you will attempt to gleam as much information as possible from the enemy before attempting to cause chaos and confusion among their ranks. Team Cirrus will be lead by Vice-Admiral O'Libera."

With a wave of his hand, the man gestured towards one of the few people seated along the row of seats that himself and Doctor Spencer were on. This hand was aimed towards a silent elderly lady, whose eyes were closed as if in a pensive state. As the room of the amphitheatre became a hushed silence, the sound of a single, long snore echoed from elderly lady, a large bubble arising from her nose. As it popped, the woman snapped awake. Her eyes shone with surprise beneath large, circular framed glasses.

"Oh, sorry there deary, what was that now?" the lady smiled. Her hair was tied into a neat, silvery gray bun, with a few strands hanging off of it. Her short, weathered stature had the traditional Marine coat hanging from her shoulders, along with a lovely knitted white scarf with small seagulls embroidered onto it. "The mission, Sharleyne," Admiral Brains stated, his voice soft and kind, a playful smile on his face.

"Oh yes, I'm sure all of you on my team will make it through the day. If you send me your measurements, I'll knit you all some lovely wear," she smiled.

From the back, certain Bounty Hunters called out her name with whoops and cheers. "We love you Turbo-Granny!" "Hero! Hero! Hero!"

Admiral Brains would then roll his eyes once again before resuming. "The second squad, Team Cumulus, will ride aboard the Cloud Ship, the Bodensee, once the signal from Team Cirrus is given. Once that happens, the Cloud ship will ram into the side of Neptunia's island before we engage the enemy proper. We will commence by capturing as much territory we can, with Med Teams and Defense Teams setting up camps as soon as that is done. Once our makeshift base is done, we will continue taking on our opponents, with appropriate preparations made, dependant on Team Cirrus' information.

For this to work, we must all be on board. Surprise is an element we must retain, along with the vigilance of Justice. We have the World on our side, let's not it down."

Uncarayne thought it was a nice amphitheatre, if a bit traditional. The beams were adequately set, the floor didn't wobble under your feet, and the stage and the podium were a very standard five feet and a bit above the floor that everybody else was sitting on. It was a pity about the lights, because faux chandeliers simply didn't work that well with the crisscrossing wooden beams they'd put up on the ceiling. There was a faint swaying shadow grid above them, on the ceiling, that made you think of waffles. The lovely honey-brown colour of the wood stain they'd chosen for it didn't help matters any.

There were people on the stage. Some of them were even talking. Only one of them was talking to the audience. At the audience, rather, really, since he'd lost the attention of just about everybody about thirty minutes in. Uncarayne blamed the chairs for that. They were hard little wooden things without an ounce of comfort, and the idea had clearly been that if the chairs were terrible enough the sitters wouldn't fall asleep.

Instead people had started shifting about to keep their blood flowing, and at first it had been passed notes or hushed whispers. But then the whispers had gotten markedly less hushed, and Uncarayne was certain that an impromptu Tic-Tac-Toe tournament had started up off in one of the corners. You could always trust the academics, thought Uncarayne, to make people fall asleep while discussing an assault on a flying island fortress where Bright Eyes had set up shop.

Bright Eyes had taken it over, but nobody knew who was actually in there. Important people, no doubt. That was why they were all there, the Marines and the contingent of bounty hunters. Some of the Jacks were in there, too, Uncarayne knew. William at least was, and Langsam too. He'd have to go over and greet them later, when things got a bit more under way. That was if the old Weatheria man ever stopped talking, because if he didn't, people were going to remember Bright Eyes as the most boring pirate ever to fight.

Which would probably give the man a heart attack of some sort, so it wasn't all bad, really.

Uncarayne looked up at the shadow grid on the ceiling and tried to imagine something other than fresh, toasty waffles, while the old man was - oh, applause? He quickly bolted upright and began clapping, only to realise that he was the only person to be standing and just as quickly sit down again. Admiral Quarton was taking the podium now, and Uncarayne leaned forward a bit to hear better. Around him, people shifted in their seats too, as their attention was recaptured by the change in speakers.

...Uncarayne decided that he liked Vice-Admiral O'Libera. It was just a pity she'd been chosen to lead the sneaky team. Uncarayne was not sneaky. Never had been, never would be, though (he supposed) if he joined them, he would make the rest of the team seem stealthy by default? Nah. It would probably be a better idea to go with Cumulus, which was a fancy name for "the team that beats people up". Which was something Uncarayne could do.

He looked around, and tried not to wonder how many of these people would still be alive at the end of the day. But this was an assault on Bright Eyes' floating island fortress. People had to know what they were getting into, here. That made it a bit better, didn't it? Uncarayne hoped it did.

He let out a long stream of breath, and turned to the person beside him. He grinned and stuck out his hand. "Hey. I'm Uncarayne. How're you doing?"

When Sakura got the invite to be part of some super secret assault on Bright Eyes current base of operations and to potentially get the island back, she was expecting something all the more….interesting than this, mostly because she had left behind a still probably traumatised girl to deal with this and she was going to hurt someone if this turned out to be a waste of time.

Okay it was probably legitimate given the kinds of names getting called and the sheer crowd present but that old man was so boring! She did try to listen at the beginning if only to try to remember enough to feed the info into her own resident mad weather scientist and try to get a flying ship of her own but wow, listening to all of that prattle had her nodding off after five minutes of it. There was no way under the sea that Bonita was ever going to be able to listen to that lecture given that her attention span was even lower than Sakura’s and Carmele wouldn’t understand what he was saying to relay it.

And of course the moment that Sakura came to the conclusion that listening to this guy was a waste of time, that was the end of her even bothering to pay attention and she instead got herself into some fun. Some people had decks of cards hidden on them, and quite the card tournament got going before the clapping got everyone to pack up with the quickness.

And more to the point, the Admiral was taking the stage now which meant that it was information that was actually relevant to the people in the room time. She had to say, it was something to be meeting all of these big names now, first that Vice Admiral Hendrickson and the Switchers, and now there was that war hero Liberty Jet and on top of that an actual Admiral here – and if she had heard right when they got her to come along with this, the Sea Knights were supposed to be involved in this whole affair, and that was what she really wanted out of this.

She was self aware enough to admit that she had ego enough to want more recognition, and this was the kind of thing to really load up on threat value. Well that and she should probably help deal with this whole thing before anyone possibly got antsy about what she did with Fergus, she didn’t need anyone else associated with him on her case with more creepy banjo music and hurling around musical shockwaves everywhere.

And now there was this team aspect of things. Well Sakura knew full well that she did not do sneaky; well more accurately her idea of stealth was more along the lines of if no one was alive or conscious to say that they saw you, then you were properly stealthy, and she didn’t think that would work out too well on Neptunia. So the assault group it was, where she could properly beat up people without having to worry about being secretive about things. Yep, violence was always the answer to these kind of pirate problems.

Oh and someone was apparently talking next to her. Talking to her probably given the hand suddenly in front of her. “Well that was sudden. Anyways, I’m Sakura Sakisorou and I’m a bit less sleepy now that weather guy’s stopped talking. Also I got a bunch of knick-knacks so things are good!” She also lost a bit of beli but hey, better than actually listening to that guy drone on and on and on…..

She shook this Uncarayne guy’s rapidly, needing to work herself back up to proper energetic levels. “Uncarayne huh? You sound like you’re someone’s uncle but you don’t look all that old, so are you an uncle or is it more or an honorary uncle thing but then you don’t look quite that young either and if you have an older sibling or something it could probably work out anyways what’s your story here Mister marine person, the sneaky type or the punch people in the face type? And who is going to be where, Liberty Jet’s leading the sneaky sneaky group which makes sense since she’s supposed to be super fast like no one can even see her when she gets going and that would be awesome to see or not see because she’s too fast to follow and stuff but then I’m not good at being sneaky and I like breaking stuff more anyway.”

Her entire commentary was spoken in an unending stream without even pausing for breath. It was one of her shorter ramblings actually, she needed to work herself up more to really get going.

At the beginning of the gathering, William chose to sit near his crewmates, considering that it would be easier to communicate with them that way. Raven followed him as they were still engaged in some trivial discussion about zoan transformations, and most of her division found themselves sitting near them.

William's enthusiasm for navigation dictated that the droning lecture would capture his interest at least for a little while, and it did. He found the advances made by the Weatheria scientists to be quite fascinating at least while he understood them. About twenty minutes into the lecture however, when Doctor Spicer delved into the complicated mechanics of the ship itself, William was forced to lose interest like the rest of the audience around him. This was partly the reason why William preferred books to lectures. With a book, you could always go back and explore the concept as many times as possible, while lectures had a fleeting nature which dictated the listener had to understand everything as it was said. The doctor hoped that Uncarayne was paying attention to the mechanics part of the lecture. After all, it couldn't hurt to learn a few things which might be useful later.

"Are you finally bored? Geez, this guy isn't going to stop talking is he?" Raven interceded, when she noticed that he was beginning to doze off in his seat.

"I can think of a few things we could do to pass the time." he said, flashing a cocky grin to the black haired marine in his company.

"You wish!!!" she said, whacking him on the arm, though William thought he could see her slightly blushing in the dim light of the amphitheater.

"Ahem ahem..." Captain Bradburry's throat-clear resounded through the area, unmistakably objecting to what William suggested. William was caught off guard as the fact that Raven's boss was sitting nearby slipped his mind after all the information he crammed into his head from the lecture. Still, he pretended not to have heard Bradburry and continued with the conversation, addressing Raven almost naturally: "Relax will you? I'm just messing around. This is neither the time nor the place anyway."

While Raven found herself one of those impromptu games which emerged all around the audience in the later parts of the lecture, William effectively slept through the rest of it, until the shifting quiet atmosphere imposed by Admiral Brain's climb to the podium woke him.

The musketeer thought that Admiral Rousenheim looked impressive enough, even if he clearly had the vacant eyes of the blind man. He was looking forward to seeing the man fight, and even more to making his acquaintance. William was not as informed on the admirals as he could be, but even he knew that Quarton had one of the most unfair devil fruit powers to go against, the rule rule fruit. Rumor had it that when wielded by someone as smart as Quarton, it was possibly even better than the flip flip fruit that the Yonko Bright Eyes wielded. The truth of that claim, which William had admittedly only heard amongst marines, remained to be seen, and William had no guarantee that he would be able to see it today, as the Intel on who exactly was occupying Neptunia amongst the Bright Eyes' pirates was apparently scarce, but the bounty hunter hoped that he would see such a clash today, and even possibly participate to some extent. This was all not just an opportunity to earn a lot of money and make connections, but an actual learning experience for him, and he intended to make the most of it, especially since there were supposed to be Seaknights participating too. William wondered when he'll get to see which of them would be accompanying them today. He was certainly ambitious enough to see the position in his own future, so meeting one of them for the first time intrigued him to say the least.

Listening to the Admiral's speech, William gathered that there were two teams, one which was tasked with gathering Intel, and another which was tasked with setting up base on the island and being the main host of war. William was no push over when it came to investigating and looking for clues, but it was neither where he excelled, nor what he was known for. Not by a long shot. Even he had to admit that his investigative skills were a bit amateurish. And of course, he also preffered to be closer to Admiral Quarton and The Seaknight. Liberty Jet seemed more like Langsam's crowd than his.

He leaned towards Langsam on his left, and whispered: "Hey Lang, I'll be going with the assault team, so I trust that you'll keep an eye out for any information that might be useful after the island is taken, right?"

Lang decided he quite liked it in the sky. It was cool and not too warm. The clouds presented a constant, misty spray that negated any threat the exposed sun might otherwise present, and the trip up there had been quite a treat. What he did not like was the reports he was reading, declassified to them as part of their preparation. Several sheets of neat paper sat in his lap and he had taken to reading and frowning at them over the past hour rather than listen to the ramblings of their host, fascinating as they no doubt had been. It hadn't been that long ago that he'd played fetch with a damn Titanic Weapon, nor long enough for him to be entirely comfortable with the idea of doing the exact same thing with another. Every cell in his body had already been scorched to a crisp, what he didn't need was to then be thrown into the depths of space or whatever malign power this Atlas boasted. He liked the sky, but he didn't want to live there on a permanent basis.

Of course this was even assuming the weapon was still there, buried in the crumbling depths of Neptunia now it had been ripped from the sea. Used on didn't necessarily translate to still being used. Still, it worked up a deal of anxiety in his gut and chest. Red felt largely the same, and had taken to nibbling and shredding the corners of the papers. It earned her a few swats from Lang, but that did little to dissuade her and only earned him some hisses in return.

Was he ready for this sort of expedition? William no doubt would say yes, probably why he dragged Lang along in the first place. Admirals, Vice Admirals, Seaknights, and their respective entourages. It really was quite a crowd, and few instances could say to be better networking opportunities. The dividends promised to be huge, which in itself was the very lure that had gotten Lang to bite and subsequently reeled upwards. But now that he was flapping with all the other fish in the basket, he couldn't help but worry that just maybe they were headed for a flurry of skinning blades followed by a skillet. High risk, high reward, and Lang had already lost a few chips that were dear to him on Merrimont. They may be slower, but there were certainly easier ways of making money.

"I always keep my eye out for information that might be useful, William," Lang coolly replied despite the butterflies dancing around in his stomach. "But I have my priorities, number one of which on this particular mission is not dying. It was number two or three on previous ventures and now sometimes I cough up springs." He took a moment from his reading to glance, unimpressed, over at the Vice Admiral supposedly leading his part of the operation. The 'Liberty Jet.' Certainly had an impressive portfolio from way back when, but age stole from everyone, and from Sharleyne O'Libra it had opted for the common target of some marbles. "I realize I'm being terribly ageist," he added in a considerably lower tone, "yet all the same I can't help but be worried about this team's composition. Maybe I've missed a few issues of Strategy Weekly, but I'm fairly certain they've never recommended a famous, engine-toting vegetable to be a good pick for a covert ops recon mission." Not that there was much to be done about the situation. Lang was not really well known enough to argue face to face with an Admiral and expect to win him over on his decisions. Regardless, it made those butterflies flutter that much harder.

Lang still also had questions he wanted answering, if he was going to be among the first to touch down on that cursed island. Calmly he raised his hand as if back in school, cleared his throat, and called over the many heads in front of him. "You say 'city.' I'm aware that obviously the bulk of Neptunia's landmass has been flipped and thus those original cities have a far wetter skyline. Has there been any reconstruction effort on the now 'upper' portion of the island? I'd rather like to know in advance if falling to my death is a distinct possibility."

As something of a tinkerer himself, Samuel had been doing what he could to get the gist of the mechanical information on Bodensee. Of course the thing was more science than art to him and he never had any intentions of working on anything at that kind of scale if he could help it. And harnessing clouds was a hard thing to miniaturize for personal use so he was really only half-listening, glancing up at the speaker for a couple minutes at a time before turning his attention elsewhere.

There were more big names in this assembly than he could shake a stick at, to be sure. Even some of his fellow Jacks were on this wagon and, to be fair, most of the Jacks were pretty big names in their own right. Even he had something of a reputation if not as high of a profile. Well, if anyone hadn't heard of their merry band they certainly would after this even if in the obituaries.

"And somehow the things we do continue to amaze me...
Never would have pegged invading a pirate emperor's flying fortress as an activity we'd get involved with."

The musician mused to himself as the scientist continued droning on. It wasn't long, however, before that part of the meeting had come to a close and the meat of their briefing was on the table. This was a war, that much was clear. From the espionage to the military strike campaign. This wasn't the first battlefield he had been present on, but he tried not to think too much about Teufort outside of the technical notes he had made to himself to avoid repeating the displeasure he'd dealt with there. He sat composed in spite of his own misgivings about how helpful he'd be in an operation of this magnitude. Well, a job with as many moving parts as this is bound to have a spot I can fit.

When it came to figuring out which team he was a part of, it seemed like kind of a toss up for Samuel. He had had some measure of experience with both snooping about and straight combat, though most of the operations he'd been involved with leaned a bit more heavily on the latter. He'd have to get in touch with William once they were free to move about. For now, he tried to take stock of who was where in the room so he could touch base as efficiently as possible. Knowing what they had would be half of what would keep them alive, after all.

After the Admiral's speech, the large crowd of Marines and Bounty Hunters began to converse with one another, a large echoing of sound raising all at once within the amphitheater. Certain individuals returned to their games, whilst others met up with old acquaintances or former rivals, a few others would begin to converse and establish new relations. Among these though, leaning to where the Bounty Hunters had been seated, one hand raised among them and a voice called out over the heads of his peers.

Brains' ears perked up as he picked the voice out almost immediately, his head turning to face the voice with a careful expression. Milky white eyes peaked up from his usual closed eyed face. "That is a good question, and those who wish to survive will be quiet." His voice was steady and stern, holding with it an odd power. This power was that of his "Rules," and anyone who had been talking at that moment would find their mouth's to slam shut for a moment, catching almost everyone off guard.

"Very recently, a transport ship, heralding from the New World, had been caught with structural supplies for what we believe to be the city that Bright-Eyes is building on what was once the underside of Neptunia. We have currently little knowledge on how much of the city was being built, but we know that it is still under construction, and that a number of his forces had been travelling via the Sky Islands."

Thud, thud. The walls would shake as something heavy made its way from behind the rows of seats and layered platforms.

The audience and main council of the meeting would find that this came from the oddly exaggerated movements of a pink haired girl, her short hair tied into two pigtails. Wearing a colourful, fractal design shirt and paint-splattered pants was the Seaknight: "Fractal" Fran. "Yooooouuuuuuu... Foooorgooooot.... tomentionhowIcaughtthatship!!!!" she declared, her high pitched voice bouncing off the walls.

The Admiral repressed a scowl before gesturing to her. "Indeed."

With that gesture, three men rose from the front row and hurriedly retreated back towards her, notes having been taken by them. These men, all wearing lab coats and glasses, leaped up towards her before seemingly disappearing. For those perceptive few, they would be able to see three small ants flying through the air before entering an odd hole that had formed in the Seaknight's stomach.

Uncarayne had noticed her when he'd sat down beside her, of course. It would take very exceptional circumstances to get one to overlook a six-foot-tall woman in a tiger coat and elbow gloves and foot gloves, though he hadn't really had a chance to talk to her before the briefing. And during the briefing, well - they'd been very much differently occupied, or at least he had been very distracted by the ceiling beams.

All the same, she reminded him very much of Minerva. He wondered how the two of them would get along. Probably like a house on fire, in the sense that you wouldn't want to leave them unattended in the middle of a city. At least, not a city you liked.

She grabbed his hand with enthusiasm and pumped it. Uncarayne's grin went from friendly to amused to nonplussed as her words came tumbling out, and when she finished he opened his mouth and closed it a couple of times while trying to remember everything. "Ah -," he said, laughing to cover himself while he was thinking. "Kind of an honorary thing, I guess, because I don't have any siblings but there's the cousins and they were starting to have kids the last time I went back! I'm from Shell, you know, I think I've got pictures of them in my wallet somewhere -"

Something indefinable washed over him and Uncarayne's jaw snapped shut with a click; his tongue had suffered a narrow escape or he'd have a nasty taste. Startled, he turned to look at the stage where Admiral Brains was sweeping the audience with a milky stare. It wasn't just Uncarayne either; the entire auditorium had fallen suddenly quiet in a way it hadn't been during the doctor's exposition. Uncarayne bet the good scientist was super jealous of that trick.

Huh. A city under construction. That would be both convenient and... not, depending how you saw things. Construction sites were messy places. Still, that was a really good question for somebody - Uncarayne twisted about until he saw the raised hand, which was something that Admiral Brains hadn't prohibited using that weird ability of his, and grinned broadly. Trust Langsam to be all clever like that! He waved a happy thumbs-up to Langsam, and mentally marked their location so he could go over there afterwards. That was convenient! He settled down again as the crowd began slowly buzzing again, their tongues loosened as Admiral Brains' effect wore off.

"Huh," said Uncarayne, running his tongue around his teeth. "Well! That was really cool, huh? But anyway - where were we? Right! Yeah, I think I'm going to go on Cumulus. We'll be working together!" He grinned. "There's a few folks from my crew here too, they're over there," he pointed, "but I don't think they'll all be coming with us. At least not Langsam, he's too smart. I bet Turbo Granny'll get him." He snickered a bit at the ridiculous name. "And anyway it's more fun being in the heavy assault side, right?" Which was something the two of them could definitely agree on!

The conversation would probably have gone on a lot longer, except that the floor and walls began to rumble with the rhythmic movement of something extremely weighty. Uncarayne raised his eyebrows and craned his neck to see. Some kind of machine, perhaps? If they were launching an attack on Neptunia then perhaps they'd have some kind of secret weapon. But everybody else was turning to look too, and Uncarayne couldn't see past all the gaggling heads. He was forced to wait until the rumbling got closer - between that weight and the apparent tiny size, it was a very dense machine indeed.

...it was a little girl with pink pigtails and brightly-patterned shirt and pants. So that was Fractal Fran? Uncarayne looked at her with interest. She was very young for her rank, but if she were a Seaknight - and able to capture a whole ship by herself? He mentally whistled with appreciation.

He looked at Sakura Sakisorou, grinning. "Hey, looks like our ride's here."

This Uncarayne fellow only took a few moments before he was able to start answering her, and he didn’t even need her to go through the bother of repeating herself! With that Sakura decided to put him in the provisional like group. And so he was a bit of an honorary uncle hmm? But if they were cousins that were having children, what did that really make him? Those kind of relation names always did confuse her, was that second cousin? Or was uncle the accurate name and it wasn’t really honorary but actual. Huh, something to check on when she felt like caring about it again.

And Rayne’s talking suddenly came to a sharp halt, along with everyone else in the room. Given the commentary from the brainy admiral just before, that was probably that rule fruit in action – kind of very scary when you think about it if it could force someone to follow something just like that. Ugh, annoying devil fruits and someone trying to force her to do something, it was like a gathering of badness. Could it force people to eat porridge? Noooooo…………

At least the admiral’s news was helpful; Bright Eyes really was building his own city on the flipped island. Why he wouldn’t at least flip it back onto the right die first? Because he’s a moron possibly or just that egotistical that it had some kind of fancy meaning for him. Ah well, it was all going down anyway. Still, that boat that they caught must have had some semi-important people to get that much information out of them. Ah well, something to keep in mind was all, a city under construction gave that many more places to hide both people and traps after all.

“Oh, you’re here with a whole crew huh? That’s cool, I’m here solo, letting the others tag along would have not ended well, they need some more downtime without any kind of hyper destructive island breaking fights or anything. Hey isn’t one of those the guy who leaves those quagmires all over or something?” She did keep some track of who the other bounty hunters running around were but it wasn’t as if she was that good at identifying them on sight. Still, two of them looked kind of familiar in a saw them in an article kind of way maybe? Eh, she’d find out soon enough.

And what was up with all of that noise, was someone walking with the world’s heaviest cane? Was that a good idea on an island made out of clouds?! Were they going to drop it on Neptunia to weigh it down so much that it would stop floating and smash back into the sea because that would be the most awesome thing to see and she wasn’t going to miss that for the world!

“Hey do you think they got a super weighty thing to drop on Neptunia because that sounds like a super weighty thing to drop on the floating island maybe it would flip it back over too and wouldn’t that be a massive middle finger to Bright Eyes he might go and have an aneurysm from it and die and then everyone would laugh at him for having the lamest yonkou death ever!”

But no, it wasn’t a secret island tilting weapon (maybe, given who it really was it might well involve something like that coming out anyway). It was something so much better, they got the Seaknight! Fractal Fran was coming along on this mission and who knew what kind of fun she was going to pull out! She’d beaten the crap out of that weird smoke pirate and all of his friends! This was going to be so much fun!

“Woohoo! We got the Seaknight! Hi Fractal!” Some people might have issues with just talking up all of a sudden. Those people were the kinds of people who never got anything because they were bothered with such dull things like the pretence of propriety or having a sense of shame. In the meantime Sakura was going to get to spent time with a Seaknight while getting to thrash a bunch of pirates, it was like a one two punch of the fun things! And even better since it was going to involve actually punching people!

Raven found herself in another part of the spacious hall when the Admiral’s briefing began, as her tiny zoan form allowed her to move around unnoticed. As she ran between the rows of spectators to find her seat again, her tiny marine coat trailing behind her, she glimpsed a familiar face that she had met on an earlier adventure: Samuel Withers. He was one of the first Jacks she had gotten acquainted with, so when she saw him there, she decided to go greet him right away.

Jumping on an empty seat next to him, she spoke: "Hi Samuel!!! How have you been?"

Realizing that he might not have recognized her in her rabbit form, she added, transforming into human form again: "Oh, I’m Raven! You remember me right? Sorry if I startled you. Anyway, let's get going and meet up with everyone, they are just over there."

Though it was rarely the kind that he perpetrated himself, William had quite the taste for dry humor, mainly because it most often offered the opportunity to rebuke with well-crafted wise-cracks. He could have assured his comrade that he would do his best to protect him, or he could have offered to help with any injuries he would have, but he wouldn’t have been William if he did. Instead, the prankster chuckled at Langsam’s response before answering: "Hehehehe…. Welllll… you know… maybe just… not firing a titanic weapon into your chest this time would be a good start on that front?" There was such a big cheesy taunting grin on his face by the end of that sentence that it was a wonder his face didn’t get stuck that way.

Though through all that, William made sure to keep listening. Although they rarely saw eye to eye in anything that isn’t trade related, William had often found the teen to have a certain helpful perspective to his words that he himself wouldn’t consider. His remark made sense; as far as everyone knew Liberty Jet was not famous for her reliability in covert missions. She was fast of course, which was arguably essential in such endeavors, but she was presumably always loud at the same time. Though maybe… just maybe… Liberty Jet was not there to be an operative. Well she was obviously going to be the boss, but maybe… just maybe there was more to old Rouseinheim’s strategy than meets the eye: "Forgive me Lang, but if you’re that worried about survival, then shouldn’t having a ranked marine with an ability suited for emergency exits and some tactical experience be a welcome sight? It wouldn’t matter how loud her engine is after the enemy finds you guys out. You’ll be more in need of an exit plan to survive and debrief than just another sneaky joe added to your ranks. That and she seems pretty nice too, you guys might actually get along. In fact, I thoroughly recommend that you try to, at least."

He didn’t have any remarks on Langsam’s question to the admiral however. In fact he thought it was very much on point, and quieted down to listen to the answer on his own. The feeling of his own inability to move his lips was not pleasant, even if he had decided to keep them shut regardless.

Although the answer to Lang’s question was not surprising to him at all, solid intel was always better than educated guesses, and he must admit that it provided a good opportunity for Fractal Fran to make a fitting entrance. Still, he ignored her for the time being. There was something else he wanted to confirm. William was not a bloodthirsty man, far from it, but his latest mistake not to kill Shugo Nakazaki when capturing him had cost him dearly in money and lives, so he was not going to make the same mistake again, not when the stakes were hundreds of times higher anyway. He was in sore need of stretching his muscles after the nap he took, so instead of simply raising his hand, he unfolded his wings into the air and flew a bit forward, slightly hovering over his peers, as he spoke over the commotion, addressing Admiral Brain: "If I may ask another question Admiral, if the entire city is being built by the Bright Eyes Pirates, will we be viewing everyone in it as an enemy or is there still a civilian element to be taken into consideration and spared? In other words, when we start fighting, do we have your permission to be as destructive as we need and execute anyone inside the city based on our individual discretion?"

So Bright-Eyes was building a little paradise in the sky, a Heaven in the heavens? A wonder the man didn't break an arm from stroking himself. Though, Lang supposed, he no doubt had a person for that. He rolled his eyes and sat back down, satisfied with the answer if not the fact of the matter. A half-built city was easier to infiltrate in some ways, more difficult in others. They were messy with lots of places to hide, but everyone required a purpose. With a proper set of uniforms or overalls and the confidence of belonging, they could perhaps work wonders. Without those things, they'd stick out faster than, well... A Seaknight among a crowd of comparatively nameless schmucks, as it were. Lang could only sigh as Fran came stomping along to join the bubbling fun. The Liberty Jet was giving him enough worries as it was, and he sat down next to William again with a heavy thud.

"You're a little late on that lesson, Will. I learned that first hand, as you're so clearly aware," he said with a grunt. From within his jacket, Lang pulled the same papers he had been studying and began to go over them again for perhaps the third or fourth time. He'd lost count. "You're right, in some regards, about O'Libera though. Yes having a quick get away would be wonderful after we're found out, but in an even more ideal world we'd never get to that stage in the first place, at least not until you heavy guns go in blazing. And by that point I hope to be away from the sight of any sharp edges. I'm just worried that she may compromise us unnecessarily." Another sigh made his chest bounce up and down. "All that said, I suppose you don't become and stay a Vice Admiral for nothing, so naturally I will of course try."

Try he would, whether in making friends with O'Libera or in any other aspect of the mission. It was, after all, a big one. A Merrimont scale one. The sort that really made it hard to walk after buying a suit of solid gold from all the spoils. It demanded best behavior and best efforts in all regards. Which was, of course, terrifying, but such was the business. Lang only hoped that the sheer number of heads involved wouldn't diminish the rewards too much. He scanned the crowd casually as they all prepped themselves in their own unique way. Were they all trustworthy? Enough to even get on the boat, he supposed, but there was a lot at stake and many ways to improve one's personal haul. A little knife in the back here, a bit of double-crossing to the enemy there. Tactics that gave bounty hunters a bad name, but which ultimately did exist in some dark corners of the profession.

Backstabbing, betrayal, and also potentially murder. "Try not get too stab happy Will," Lang quietly told him with only a minor level of disapproval. "I realize that maybe there are a lot of people up there that the world would be better without, but as the old bounty hunter saying goes: dead for the gruel, alive for the pool. Obviously this is probably going to bankroll us for a good while either way, but heads still attached to their bodies might just sing loud enough for us to actually start considering getting pools installed in the entire fleet..."

Samuel found himself somewhat thankful not to have been talking to anyone when the admiral created his compulsory hush in the crowd. last thing the musician needed was to bite off his tongue as that was definitely not a part of his body he was keen on replacing. The inability to even try to open his mouth was something of an irksome development, but at least the admiral's briefing was actually worth listening to unlike the scientist from earlier.

After a time, it became clear that the effects of that command had worn off and productive commentary and questions were fielded when a rabbit in a marine coat hopped up and addressed Withers. It was obviously a zoan user, but he didn't know of any connections he had to a bunny marine until Raven reverted to her human form and mentioned that she would bring him over to where the rest of the crew was.

"Good to know you have a zoan, logging that away. Sure,
let's meet up, been meaning to get back in touch with the others but there hadn't really been the time."

Without mincing too many words, Samuel went with Raven to rendezvous with the other cluster of Jacks. It took little time to figure out what had been going on with the others, Lang was going in with the first party to gather intel and subtly mess with things before the real party started and William was trying to discern how, well, discerning he needed to be in the coming violence.

"Much as I'd love to join the recon team for old times' sake,
I have to confess that spending so much time with Minerva and the like has made me a little rusty on subtlety. And my feet have not gotten any quieter,
that's for sure. Still, it'll be nice to see everyone on their A game, risking life and limb for the sake of fabulous wealth."
He emphasized his statement on quietness by tapping his foot on the ground with a metallic clank.

The appearance of Fractal Fran changed the mood of the room, and Withers couldn't help being slightly surprised that all that noise had come from someone so... bubbly. He didn't show much shock outside of a twitch of his lip and a raised eyebrow, but seeing the group of scientists shrink down and float into her provoked a raising of the other eyebrow as well as his face took on a more impressed look. It gave him a bit of excitement to imagine how that power may have played into the capture of their vessel.

"Well, as for the matter of how violent we need to be, I don't particularly like operations of this scale but this is an actual military campaign we're involved in so there'll be too much going on much of the time to really worry about individual bounties since we won't have any way to keep track of prisoners until it's all over. Just my opinion, there. I certainly won't be going out of my way to kill or capture anyone I don't need to."

As the words of William B. Salty rang throughout the amphiteather, cutting above the bubble of chatter that had once again started upon the appearance of the Seaknight, Brain turned to face the man, his eyes still closed. He gave a soft shake of his head before answering the question, "I understand the difference between both our positions, from Marine to Bounty Hunter, but execution without proper procedures should be refrained from. The difference between those of who fight for Justice and against it, is the rules and laws we set in place between ourselves and our animalistic urges. Information on the many who survived the Neptunia Event has been regrettably scarce, but a number of them have been found after fleeing the Yonkou's overturned land. These few stating that there's a mixture between true allegiance with the Pirate, and those who merely wish to survive the night by guiltily pledging themselves to him.

We should never forget who it is we protect, but in the end, it is we who must survive, so I ask that you all protect civilians but ensure your own safety above all. There is no shame in retreating,"
he finished, his final sentence coming with a tone of assurance.

It was then that a voice behind him chimed in, the elderly lady raising her head at the words of the Admiral.

"Dearies, it'll be those of Team Cirrus who will help assist those who wish to return to safety back to our own bases. Along with other prisoners of war. Swiftness, agility and cunning will be paramount for us to be a success."

With that, she once again returned to her seat. If there were no more questions, the two group leaders would exit through separate doors, requesting those that there were apart of their team to follow along. It would be then that would be met with their own airships.

"Oh, him? Yeah, that's my captain William!" Uncarayne grinned, jerking his thumb at said captain. "Poopbird fruit he calls it, because those things smell like anything." He scrunched up his face, realising that William was almost certainly going to be on Team Cumulus too, because there was just absolutely no way in anything that Langsam would let William tag along on the team that was supposed to be stealthy. And Uncarayne had... he tried to remember. Had he? He hoped he had, but it wasn't polite to interrupt the conversation to dig through his bag of tools. He would just have to hope that he'd remembered to bring his nose clips along. "Anyway, just remember to hold your nose if he's ever upwind of you and in a fight. But he's as likely as not to drop them just for fun, he's a bit of a prankster that way!" Uncarayne waved his hand at William, turning back to Sakura with raised eyebrows. "Island breaking fights, huh. Sounds like a good story or two!"

Which was a line of questioning that was instantly cut off to die a sad, ignored death. Sakura Sakisorou was clearly not the kind of girl to think very long about any one thing in particular, thought Uncarayne with slightly apprehensive amusement. She was probably the kind of girl that you pointed at the enemy, said "go!" and then ran in the opposite direction... which was, he thought, exactly what her crew had done.

Fractal Fran was in for some interesting times, if so, if she was going to carry all of Team Cumulus inside her all the way up to Neptunia.

"I don't think Fractal Fran would like being dropped on Neptunia," he said indulgently, "though that would be funny, wouldn't it! But Bright Eyes would probably just flip it right back over, that's his Devil Fruit after all."

There was another loud call to the Admiral from the Jacks at that time; William this time, with a very... William question. Uncarayne frowned. He hadn't really thought too much about it, himself. Gotten too used to the whole exterminating thing, maybe, or that was just the last few missions he'd been taking. Not that the question was much more than academic; the way they went in, they'd just have to beat down anybody who came up against them, and leave alone everybody else? That was how he'd been doing things, and it had worked so far!

Admiral Brains responded then, and Vice-Admiral O'Libera chimed in, and it sounded... complicated. Uncarayne shook his head. "Boils down to simple stuff though," he murmured to Sakura, wryly. "If they fight back we beat them down, and if not, we let them go, eh? Not that I think there'll be a lot of those left for us, if Team Cirrus gets them all out!"

He leaned back against his chair just long enough to pick up his coat and things. Then he got to his feet, stomping a few times to get the pins and needles out of his legs. That whole speech thing had lasted a lot longer than it had seemed! "Well, off we go, right, Sakura?" he said, grinning. "Fractal Fran's that way."

And the airship, too, he thought. And then maybe he'd have a chance to look at it and figure out exactly what that old Weather Island man had been talking about!

“Ah, that’s a good point, he would be a killjoy and flip it back after his heart attack and that is why he needs to get his face punched in. Jerks like that should go and die.” Sakura nodded with her bit of perfect logic. Well there was that and the many, many other reasons to want to beat the crap out of the Yonkou, not the least of which was the fact that someone on that level would be one of the most fun battles she ever had more likely than not. Ah, the anticipation! She was practically vibrating in her seat now when that other bounty hunter guy – William he was? William for now until she got something better anyway – brought up a question that she hadn’t even bothered considering.

“Ah, yeah, a bunch of people getting stuck on the island isn’t good. Huh, guess that means that we can’t just run over everyone we meet, although if Turbo Granny and her team are going to be dealing with the rescue of the stuck ones then whoever is left by the time we start running wild is probably someone to beat up especially if they’re actually willing to attack us instead of running and hiding, chasing down people who run is kind of annoying too anyway except when they have a real big bounty then the beli makes it worth it since I can buy more gourmet food and meats and stuff with it!”

Ah, all the glorious food! Although she’d have to make sure not to have any when the poop vulture was around – oh heeey, that’s why he seemed familiar! “Oooh, the vulture! That’s who that guy is! The metal vulture thing that ruins everything with those quagmire feathers! Ah, that’s going to be messy, good thing I can jump good, sinking into one of those would be horrible and this is a floating island too it might eat all the way through and then you’ll fall into the sea covered in mythical poop! And that’s just humiliating.”

Ah, but that was a worry for later, first they got to ride a cloud ship with a Sea Knight! One who could keep a bunch of people inside of her like some kind of walking fortress! Who knew what kinds of stuff she had hidden in there! She hopped to her feet, not needing the reminder from Rayne to go keep up with the violence group. “Go Team Cumulus! Oh hey, who really is coming along besides vulture guy and Rayne?”

This Sakura said while moving along like a kid on a slight sugar rush – or in other words her normal moving speed when she had interest in something and taking the most direct path possible to chase after Fractal Fran, whether or not she needed to hop over chairs and people – and that reminded her, some people there currently owed her money, she needed to remember their facer for after this whole island reclamation was over and done with.
