He continued to follow along with the group as they were being escorted to a suitable place for them to "recover". His eyes trailed towards the ground, before looking up towards Seth, who seemed to be breaking away from the group. "Wonder where he's going." Sliding his hands into his pockets, he brushed the idea aside as they continued to walk. Seeing Seth return from where ever exactly that he went to. Upon reaching the room Keiji saw Seth immediately move forward to grab a chair and slides it to the table. Whipping out a map and sliding his hand across it, spreading it neatly across the table top. He was motioning for the others to gather around. "Didn't expect us to start so soon. Was expecting a bit more "rest"." He thought to himself, following along with the others as he pulled a chair of his own and set it across from Seth. Eyes now focused on the map he witnesses Seth scratching across of it, quickly going over his errors with an erasure before abandoning the idea altogether. It was quiet, the tension building but so did the awkwardness. Seemly like a room full of people with their foot caught in the door, he simply waited to see if their next step would be given to them. Slouching back in his chair with his hands stuffed into his pockets. With the other gathered, it seemed Seth proposed another idea like before, an introduction. He wasn't sure what for, but not wanting to be the oddball by not complying he forced himself to do so. Anna went first, giving out her history to as much detail but also as short as possible. However, after her was yet another long pause. "Alright, guess I'll go next. Keiji Abarai, been in the Marines for about uh..a year and some change. A close ranged fighter with a mean kick. " Raising in his seat to speak, he went back into a slouch as his eyes trailed from Seth to back on the map he placed earlier. Examining it, there was something he was easily missing. Something that was straight in his face, while the others used their time to introduce themselves he would simply be ignoring and thinking of the riddle. Edited by Kdubose, Jul 10 2017, 07:08 PM.

Nola Followed the little group of marines, thinking on what she could do in this situation, but since she wasn't really a marine she was at a loss at the protocols required and it was those same protocols that made her not want to join the marines anyway, but the sudden movement of the one named Seth took her out of her thoughts as he ran off for a moment, making her only watch on with that same expression of disinterest. Eventually though he came back and he started to spread out a map and apparently working on a grid Idea which even without looking Nola knew they didn't have the man power to do such a thing given the size of the area they needed to cover. Besides that were they not given orders to rest? not that she was one to follow the orders of a marine but then again there was a good reason to give them a rest, time to relax and do other things could refresh the mind and help it become clear for later work. With a sigh she heard the request for introductions again and Nola went to go sit on a chair kicking her feet up a bit on the table as she took out a book from her lab coat that had her currently running experiments on it and she started to go through the data as the others went through there introductions again, no new info came from it of course, and Nola didn't any would have considering introductions could only get you so far. Then it apparently came to her turn as suggested by the quiet pause and she lowered the note book she was reading to look at the rest, "If I recall weren't you three ordered by a superior office to rest not do more work? Ether way...As I said before my Name is Nola Aberdeen...as for you all I know who you are...' she reached into her lab coat and took out their dossier "When I am given work I make sure I go in knowing everything I can, especially those I will be working with...as for you Seth...for someone that has been in the marines for such a long time shouldn't you have put information on the team your working with first rather then trying to form a plan on your own? what if the group contained an expert strategist? your plans would pale in comparison to theirs, though I must say...this Rokushiki skill of yours...intrigues me....". As usual whenever she got a whiff of anything interesting she started to blush a great deal and her tone of voice changed as she spoke in a more breathy way "Maybe you could give me a private demonstration later Hmm? some hands on work maybe?" her eyes half lidded as she looked at him and the blush only growing more as she leaned a bit towards him. Though she tore herself away from the though of something new to study for the time being, and instead looked to the group again. "As for miss long winded over here....she sounds like she has Haki...Observational maybe..." She said that same look on her face as she now eyed up Anna, she had heard of Haki but never got a chance to study it personally, and now suddenly Anna became a LOT more interesting to her "Hmm..maybe I will have to request the same...hands on demonstrations with you?" she said to the other woman before looking at the last member. "As for Keiji he has decent visual acuity, and skills as a carpenter, he hails from Maple Village on Gecko Island in the East Blue..sixteen years old..has a nickname of "kid" rank of petty officer.....Seth grew up in the south blue on one of the smaller less known islands..he's twenty seven has a few skills but most notable is his martial arts, has a nickname of "Ten k" holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander...and finally Anna home town of Ilusia in the West Blue...seventeen years old...has the nicknames Swordmen of the Sakura Peral and Princess..tends to be incredibly long winded at times..." she said going from person to person and saying the information she memorized from the Dossiers. She then stretched a bit in her chair and let out a sigh "in the interest of fairness..Nola Aberdeen, I am both a Doctor and a Scientist, I come from Iakia on Former island in the North Blue, I am nineteen years old, I have the title of Supervisor, some call me that so I suppose technically that is my nickname, I have no rank in the marines as I am a contractor hired by the magisters and so was brought in with them, though I do have access to medical records and the like with the medical branch..I am not a combatant nor do I have any special training for anything like that, so if your looking for help in a fight I can bandage you up and that's about it..." she said as she finished her own introduction. "Oh and Anna's weight is 100 lbs...give or take 15 to 25 lbs" she said as she lifted her note book back up and started reading through the data on her experiments once more "Not sure what introducing ourselves is gonna do but there you have it...all nice and condensed for you..now I am going to take this time to relax so that when the time comes to think of a plan I am fully rested and my mind is focused and clear...and seeing as you three were ordered to do the same maybe you should to?....doctors orders...". |

Seth examined the three calmly with little interest in his face. Two close range fighters, and a doctor... Turning his attention back to the map, he addressed Nola first, breaching several of her point to begin his own explanations. "When dealing with those of higher rank, an order only holds any value when the word 'order' is specifically stated. The Commodore merely suggested rest, a suggestion I have no intention on following as the mission comes before myself." Taking a breath while he juggled numbers in his head, he turned to face the group, as he deemed it most respectful for the next tidbit of information. "Given your previous CO's rank - his 'Not having clearance' is rather ludicrous. However, as of now I'll be taking temporary reigns of the magisters for this mission." Finally, Seth turned specifically to Nola for one last comment "As for strategizing, It's my specialty, which Is why I requested of the Commodore to meet with his strategists. Not to mention, If I could have theorized a way to defend the entirety of the island with just the men stationed here, the four of us would have been free to move about the island as we saw fit before combat, instead of being stuck in a single place - limiting everyone in the face of an attack." Turning to the group as a whole once again, he addressed them simply; "For now, spend your time as you see fit -" Turning an eye towards Nola, he continued "If that means resting, then so be it. We'll reconvene after dinner, and hopefully after I have a meeting with their strategists to get a better feel for their plans of defense." Taking a moment, he wondered whether he should have commented on his own Rokushiki more, or perhaps the girls haki. Dismissing the thought, he looked up and uttered a single word; "Dismissed." |

Marine HQ, 1800 hours, Canteen After reevaluating with his two commanding officers for the past hour or so, the older Stark finally decided to move towards the Canteen where the group was meant to meet him again. In his entourage, he had with him three other ranking officers of the island, each one personally chosen by him and his two confidants. Although pulling them out from the drills was rather tedious, he found the man named Dryden was right. They needed every single ranking officer to be involved in their planning stage. After all, they have put out a couple of good points that may prove to be useful. It was clear they know had to expect an attack when they least expected. It may prove to be a problem if the man was right, but even if he was not, measures had to be taken. Being pushed by his son Andrew, the older man felt the pressure of the whole situation. It was not the first time, of course, but this was the first when he was placed in charge of an island that has hundreds of civilians. He was not the kind to enjoy collateral damage. His discussion with his son and close second-in-command before they moved here was clear. They had to take every precautions possible. Even Lev was telling him to have an open mind at this point. These kids seemed capable to say the least, especially Seth. He pointed out that the man could take charge of some of the groups, especially the Magisters since their apparent commander is no longer available. As they entered the canteen, it was for once empty. Antonio has given the orders that all personnel were to not enter the place until ordered otherwise. True, it might not be the most secretive place, but having ordered Andrew to get people that he trusts implicitly to discover if there was a mole in the group, if they were to be spied on, then they would have to do so in an open space. He already placed some hidden Marines looking over the entrances and specific hiding spots. After hearing such an order, if there was an informant in his crew, this would draw them out. Antonio took one look around the empty canteen, the place quite huge to accommodate the number of people they have. At least ten huge tables in two rows, with benches on either side of it. Right opposite from the door was where the food was served, and he already told the cooks to prepare the food and retire for the day. The food was already on the table for the ranking officers, different kinds of feasts for the group to enjoy. There was no servers or anything, just the half a dozen of them and the incoming new batch of Marines. After all, these men and women were highly recommended by the Marine Headquarters. Surely they must be as good as they say. Andrew pushed his father towards the head of one of the tables, taking a seat to his left as Lev did the same to his right as the remaining officers took their places beside the both of them as they awaited the arrival of the new Marines, younger Chore Boys already being sent to fetch the group to the canteen. |

Anna would be listening to everyone else speak, but hearing one thing come out of Nola's mouth made her blush, how and when did she know that. "Nola, I don't know how you knew that, but he.... Asked you to speak about yourself, not me!" She would say, yelling at Nola, Anna never really raised her voice this much, but it was happening a lot more, as she spent time with her. Anna did think what was this Haki as she has spent most of her life in the blues never hearing anyone having it before. Anna would hear the word Dismissed and walk away still looking bright red, that stupid Nola, she had to keep bothering her by using Anna's weakness all the time. Anna would speak, but not facing them as her face was still bright red from what Nola said. "The captain that use to lead the Magisters, is a good and high ranking marine, I think the fact he asked two people who were not of marine rank to come here, Nola and that friend of his, and didn't even give the higher rank officers a warning before coming here, that might be why he was removed of his clearance, for being too trusting and giving out marine information without informing anyone." Anna would just use her free time to make sure her swords were sharp after all a true swordsmen would never allow them to rust and become dull. She needed to get her focus back and needed to stay away from Nola, because well she was the only one in this place that knew how to use that weakness against her, the reason being because nobody else here, maybe, because it could be found in her information knowledge list for high ranking marines that wished to look at Anna's, abilities. She would leave with everyone else if the chore boys would show up to take them, placing her swords back into their sheaths, but only if they showed up now, if they didn't she would keep cleaning the blades. |

Nola looked over to Anna and waved away her objection "Please it's not like it's hard to tell, besides why is it an issue?" she said in that bored monotone as she resumed reading the test results of her latest experiment, honestly she wasn't to keen on being here, but here she was, she was also being told to do a job, and she was getting payed for it so she was going to do it to the best of her abilities. The fact that they where given time to decompress and rest was a good sign to her, perhaps the higher ups knew that time like that was needed? Ether that or they where checking on the backgrounds of all attending, ether way it seemed they where thinking at least. In the intervening time though she sat there and then Anna spoke up in defense of their old captain and Nola only rolled her eyes a bit "A good man but a horrible commander, a solider should do his job, the work here is sensitive and he was contacted with the understanding that he would keep it secret, and that he would inform them on what personnel he would be bringing and their clearance, honestly he got the punishment that he deserved. do I think he is a good man? that's irrelevant, was he a good commander? debatable. Ether way he isn't here now and I don't see a reason to talk about him" she said as she flipped the page in her results book, she already had her lab being sized up for disassembly and removal from the ship and getting it ready for transport back to her lab if she didn't get another commission from the marines. As she sat there though she took a small packet of cookies out of her pocket and opened them popping the edge of one into her mouth and nibbling on it as she read her book and muttered to herself "seems the peptide levels are to high...I'll have to compensate for that....the side effects are still to strong for general use on this one...this could stop the hemorrhaging issue but that would also cause a Pulmonary infarction...the tendons here need to be strengthened in some manner...the water content is to high on this one and it would end up being to diluted to even work..." she continued her mutterings as she took out a pencil and started to make notes on the book, the whole while the cookie continued to be nibbled on in her mouth. Though the expressionless look on her face had vanished into one of concentration as she did a bit of her own work before closing the book after a good few minutes of work and simply stretched out and laid back. She had to wonder about a few thigns, the stupidity of the government for worrying about how they would look if they did the most intelligent move to stop the attack or at least safeguard the people that were here and evacuate the place. It would be better to do damage control on that then to suffer the humiliation of defeat if they failed to stop the attack. Even then after all this was said and done, if there were any casualties during any battle or action, they would have to account for that, though she doubted they would be held to it, or that they would answer to it. the fact was that they knew of the attack before hand, and were doing nothing to safeguard the innocent non-combatants in the target zone all so they don't look weak. It was inefficient and foolish. Closing her eyes Nola started to simply let her mind wander, there had to be some reason that they wanted to do this...propaganda perhaps? let some die to make the enemy more hated and to make themselves seem more like heroes? That was one angle....could the higher ups have set this whole thing up? Allowed it all to happen? Just so they could foil it? All for the propaganda...As she thought more and more about it she applied that thinking to what was going on now, they knew of the coming attack, yet their current higher ups were told to not evacuate or let anyone know about the attack other then a select few, as a doctor she hated this plan, as a scientist she hated the inefficiency of it, if this was really what was happening then she had to wonder when the so called "team of specialists" they had assembled, that being her and the others around her, would be considered expendable? Logically they would ether try to keep them as a group to maximize their work in the public eye after this debacle was over, however splitting them up and letting them do their own work would also allow them to capitalize on them, and then assigning them again as a group to another situation as a "crack team of specialists" until they were more useful dead as a symbol then alive as heroes...Though she wondered if the top of the government even had the capability to think like that...Ether way in the long and short of things she simply shrugged a bit, it really didn't matter all that much to her, she got funding, she could just go back to her lab and do basic research and other work, and remain unknown till she found something to report about any breakthroughs, or the like, as an independent she wasn't held to the marines total control after she left, though if they tried to change that she would more then likely refuse any permanent commission as she preferred to do her own work. After all Looking at her Fellow team members they all seemed to be somewhat...bias...on things, while that was all well an good at the same time she didn't see much room for advancement at the moment in the ranks of the marines, also she wouldn't join if they only offered her a low rank anyway, she preferred to be in charge whenever she could be, for instance being a doctor on a ship gave you the power to overrule and even relieve the captain from duty, hence why she preferred that role. ether way though she did want to get back to pursuing her own agenda again after this was all over. Finally though she heard footsteps and then the door opening and she opened her eyes as she looked to the choir boys and she sat up "Looks like the foods ready to be served" she said in that bored monotone as she headed for the door "Anna try not to eat to little...you need more meat on your body for a more healthy build...hopefully it doesn't all go to your chest and rear though...lord knows those have been helped enough...you need some muscle on you..." she said looking to Anna with that expressionless gaze "after all I like my girls to look healthy..." she then gave a wink with the same bored expression still on her face before she headed out of the room to follow the chore boys. |

Was slowly seeping more and more into his cushiony chair as he awaited for others to reintroduce themselves. Even though it was an attempt to get everyone to cooperate more, it seemed to him that things such as these would just be wasting more time. He wasn't normally an uptight person, but a situation such as this demanded for seriousness. Even though his actions didn't show it, on the inside he was frantic, not terrified but energetic. Ana and Nola, the two were as energetic as ever. He only knew them for a few days at the most to pick up on their personalities, but they seemed to be acting as if nothing major was going on at all. Even trailing off on the lines of speaking of our commander that got removed from the operation, in his eyes they needed all the help that they could get. But what was done is done. Now came the time where Keiji just zoned out, folding his right leg so that the right side of his foot rested on his left knee as he leaned back even further into the chair. Now staring at the ceiling. Heading into deep though on the matter, hands inside his pockets. Using this time to weigh the odds of this being a success, maybe he was getting a bit too in depth in this mission. But it was something that involved hundreds of lives. "Wonder how the families doing." He murmured, picturing his family he could hear the idle talking going in the background of his mind. Those who were in the room with him were still talking about what he assumed was introductions. "Hopefully I can make it though this..nah I will make it through this we all will make it though this." His eyes abruptly opened after hearing the door suddenly open. It was a choir boy. "I sure remember those days." Keiji thought to himself, suddenly on alert as he rose in his seat and uncrossed his legs. "Seems like it's tim-"Thinking to himself while pushing up from his seat. He figured the choir boy was here to give them the next step to their mission, Keiji even using the time to get himself mentally ready. But was dumbfounded to realize that they were now being served lunch. NOw didn't seem like a good time to try and eat, atleast he wasn't in the mood for food. But the others didn't seem to think that at all. Following along with the choir boy without hesitation. Could He really be the only one overreacting about this internally? Holding his head high, he stayed silent. Following along with the group, however a serious expression could be seen on his face. As if he was trying to solve the worlds hardest puzzle in a few seconds. |

Seth listened to them bicker nonchalantly. They acted like children. Shaking his head, he gathered his notes and the pocket map he had scratched on, and retired to his quarters for the remainder of the time. Despite the excessive amount of time given, the numbers just weren't playing out in any beneficial way. Furrowing his brow, he spoke aloud, more to himself than anything, as no one was around him "If Bright Eyes' truly does plan to launch a full-scale assault against JusticeLands..." He trailed off, his pencils scratching at the map over and over again, strategy after strategy thrown out. Without any knowledge of the commanding officers abilities, this would be next to impossible. Finally, he scratched down numbers across the squadrants that overlayed the map. Looking over it, it was far less than ideal, but it was the best he could manage up until he had more information. Setting down the pencil carefully, he folded the map up and pocketed it before heading out to the training grounds to spend the rest of his 'free time' before he reconvened with the Commodore. Stepping out of the shower, Seth toweled off before dressing himself. He had had an effective workout session, although something was still tugging at him, and he couldn't place it. He was overlooking something about this entire situation, and it was truly bothering him. After dressing himself, he grabbed his officer's coat, and donned it before making his way to the canteen. Pushing the doors open in front of him, he saw he was the last one to arrive. Taking his seat opposite the commodore, he declined taking any food right away, instead reaching for a small bottle of alcohol and pouring himself a half-glass. Taking a small sip, he examined the faces within the room, keeping his own neutral in doing so. Pulling the map from his pocket, he laid it next to his glass and met the Commodore's gaze "These were the best plans I could come up with given the information I had access too. Once again I'll request permission to meet with your strategists after this to come up with a proper plan of action." Sliding the map down the table, when opened it would reveal a donut type formation, in which the outermost edges of the islands had 2 man patrols with the more inner parts being watched over by command and those patrolling the center of the island. |

As the group entered the canteen in the tow of the Chore Boys, they could see the half dozen high ranking officers of the island already there seated, awaiting the new batch, three of which they already have seen. The other trio, a woman and two other men, each wore the uniform of the Marines, although each has a hint of clothes that indicates they were not low ranking Marines. As the quartet entered the room, Lev signalled to them to take a seat. He would have told them to get some food if they were hungry, but the lad named Seth instantly wanted to get down to business. As he presented the map to the Commodore, Antonio could not help but be impressed by the man. Even when told to rest, he was setting up some sort of plan to discuss in this. The man certainly seemed tenacious, and no doubt willing to be fully committed in this situation they had. That was a good sign to say the least, as he looked over the plans he had created. It was sensible yet simple. Placing patrols over the outer areas of the island made sense, although he felt would it be dangerous if the pirate group were to smash the area from a single point. But it would provide a good lookout for them. " I have to admit, this plan you had seems doable. The scouts placed at the outermost parts of the island would provide good intel if we were to be attacked. The only issue is the lack of information we have against the oncoming threat. After all, if it is Bright-Eyes we are facing, we will be overrun if we are too spread apart." Lev reasoned, with Antonio already working his mind to tweak the plan slightly. With such a formation, if they were to place flares with the outermost Marines guarding the island, when the attack comes they could be ready. Of course, Lev had a point, if they were to place two Marines at every point, their numbers would diminish. But it could provide them with where the enemy would come from. " I understand your need to meet our tacticians for the current battle, Lieutenant Commander. As such, I have invited the top brass for the Island. Captain Lilian Vance, and her close aides Lieutenants Carl Felton and Benjamin Tomb are our strategic counsels. Although I would assume that you would rather meet them alone, our current time scheme do not allow it. We have to come up with a strategy by the end of tonight, and ready our men for tomorrow. If you will, you can discuss as you eat. Captain Vance would gladly help you if you need any other information." Antonio stated, signalling the group to get their food if they wished and ask any questions needed to the group. Andrew already stood up first, famished by their whole situation as he grabbed a whole chicken for himself as Lev followed suit, taking a couple of bacon and potatoes, the table they were sitting in filled with assorted food for the group to take. Antonio did not stir, however, his mind already working through a plan needed for this meeting. He knew the island inside and out, so he knew there was only a few places where the pirates would be able to beach and move on foot towards this place. For a man who just came on this island, Seth already had a good plan. This would be a rather interesting man to follow after all. Lilian Vance, however, was not interested in the food. Instead, she stood up from the table, walking towards the Lieutenant Commander who seemed to have planned out a strategy with limited information. Her crimson scarf was flowing as she walked, with her two aides following in tow. When she was informed one of the group was interested in meeting with her, she had no idea the man seemed capable of providing them with an interesting strategy. Like the Commodore, she knew every nook and cranny of the island, which benefit her to have the post of Tactician in their current situation. " Commander Stefano has informed me you wanted to see me. As the Commodore has introduced me, I am Lilian Vance, leading tactician of the upcoming battle. Your strategy seemed apt for the situation we are given, and I hope with more information from me, we can come up with a better solution for the upcoming battle." The woman in her late thirties stated, he matching crimson hair flowing from her straight hair as she stood at least a foot shorter than Seth. Her fellow aides stood beside her, each of them looked on rigidly at the man. Lev, on the other hand, moved to the remaining trio, no doubt feeling with Seth taking charge of the group, he would not have time for the trio. Standing behind the two ladies with the remaining of the group in front of them, he truly studied the group. The medic was a rather unique woman. If he did not know any better, the woman had a certain look about her. " How are your accomodations, ladies and gent? I hope it was alright. This place is not the most comfortable place after all, but nonetheless, it does have a good atmosphere to it." The Commander asked, trying to let the trio feel at least comfortable at this place. After all, their division were suddenly forced to move with the next leader. It did provide them with a certain discomfort after all. |

"It's an Issue because I don't what everyone knowing my personal information." She would say as her swords were being cleaned. It was easy to see why they wished for everyone to have some rest, bright eyes was a strong pirate and if everyone was not feeling okay, then none of them would have a chance. Anna didn't like the fact the marines were doing nothing to save the people around the area, she was a marine to make sure no harm came to them, but right now the marines were doing the opposite. She would hear Nola again, turning red. "My build is healthy, even more, and you who sits on a chair all day doing tests, I train my speed to bring out the full abilities of my swordsmanship. Even my cooking style is known to be a healthy one being named medical cooking still tasting good." Anna would say turning away bright red. Anna needed to think about everyone here, even Nola, but all she could think about is her comments, hoping she would shut up before the battle started. She would take a seat, as she was given some wine, Anna had no plan on drinking it yet, listening to what the higher up's had to say. Anna would listen to them speak, but it looked more like a high ranking talk and someone of her level to butt in, she wouldn't be listen to anyway, well not fully. Anna would stay sitting down with her wine as she got up to eat some of the food, finding curry and rice, she would grab a knife and fork and many napkins beside her even placing one on her lap, Anna was someone raised up right and had manners in everything she did, even the way she lifted up her fork and knife shown it. She could see a new marine coming and just by looking at her, you can tell her rank was not low at all. Anna would hear someone new speak, she would speak. "They have been well, giving enough room for all of us to do what we wish. The atmosphere is okay, a little tense, but giving what we need to do soon, I can't blame them." Anna would say in a calm manner. |

Nola simply walked into the large mess hall and seen that it was empty, she then spotted the food and instead of being seated she instead walked to the table and proceeded to gather as much food as possible onto several plates, taking a sample of every dish there and in large servings, she would need the extra protein and other vitamins and minerals to be present in her body, she would need a large breakfast too if she was going to have the resources she would need for a fight of the scale that everything was being hinted towards this being. After piling up plates and making several trips to the table and again to the food, she eventually sat down and started to eat, while the food was good, to Nola it was simply about getting the resources she needed for the increased action of the next day, though she did notice the look one of the other marines was giving her "I am eating for more then one..." she said simply, not even considering how that could be taken to mean she was pregnant, instead she simply continued to eat, feeling the organs in her body converting resources into more living ammunition, it was an odd feeling but one she never got tired of. she would have the ammo she would need for the coming fight, but she would need more stores of it if she wanted to be able to keep going, she would also need to make several different supplies of her drugs if she was to support the group and any other marines with her performance enhancing ones. She watched the other side of the table talk tactics, she kept out of that, let the people that learned more about that stuff handle it, if they wanted her opinion she would give it, and she wouldn't be gentle about it ether, Though as the other marine walked up and asked them about their quarters and as Anna answered Nola finished chewing on the food in her mouth...then popped more in and continued to eat before finally taking a glass of juice and clearing her mouth fully, she didn't like alcohol and she definitely didn't need it now as it only drained resources to remove it from the system, a horrible waste when about to go into a high stress situation. "personally I feel more comfortable in my lab, but it has what is needed for sleep and rest, as for the atmosphere, I would feel more comfortable if we were allowed to do what should be done and evacuate the civilians on the island as well as the noncombatants, better to have them have no casualties and see us as weak, which we could do damage control on especially if we catch the culprit of the attack. The alternative is to have some die in the attack because we told no one and then issues arise due to that, as well as rumors of incompetence due to the lives lost maybe even driving some to seek revenge and becoming pirates in their own right out of hatred" she said before taking another drink of a different juice this time. "As for the building we are in, depending on the real reason for this attack, this building with ether be targeted immediately and destroyed as soon as possible, or it will be one of the goals, it may even be left untouched as well as any other official marine building, while the attack focuses on the innocent people and noncombatants, taking advantage of the foolishness of the higher ups to not want to show weakness and not telling anyone of the crisis, which is only possible due to the flawed logic of that stance" she said honestly to the marine as she then resumed eating. |

Seth made no move towards the food, instead remaining straight faced. He nodded, a short salute pairing with his single comment as Lilian Vance approached him "Captain." However, he did something very rare for him when dealing with a higher ranked marine - he turned back to the group at hand and ignored her for a moment before clearing his throat to grab the attention. "I feel that there's an abundant need to address the elephant in the room." Seth spoke with clear intent, no hesitation in his words. All emotion drained from his face, he wanted to get this out of the way before stepping to the side with Vance and her subordinates. "It's come to my attention that certain people" His eyes shifted towards the doctor, despite his want to remain unbiased "Don't understand exactly why we can't afford to evacuate the civilians here, so please - let me enlighten you." He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table, and cupping his hands together. His brows knit together, a very serious look on his face. "For those of you who forgot what happened at Neptunia, the entirety of the World Government, especially the Marines, were made to look like complete fools at the hands of Bright-Eyes." "That loss alone has the general population questioning whether or not the marines can be trusted to protect them." Seth's eyes ignited with passion, a controlled anger seething from him. "If we were to evacuate Justiceland - somewhere they're supposed to feel safe - that would show the absolute worst side we can show right now. Fear." "If we show fear to Bright Eyes, the Marines will be doomed to crumble. This battle can not be lost. I can not stress that enough." a dropped pin could be heard in the room, but Seth refused to let up. "People WILL die. Marines WILL die. That is part of war, and something any marine should be prepared for." He loudly stood, and collected his rudimentary plans to think of something better. Moving to a side table with Captain Vance, he laid out the plans between them "A large part of this plan hinges on communication. If Bright Eyes sends his forces through the sea, we need our outer patrols capable of contacting us here at command as quickly as possible - Den Den Mushi's would be preffered, but i can't imagine we would have enough to supply every patrol." Looking towards the Captain, he continued "Another thing I need to know, after Neptunia I refuse to be unprepared - What type of ground is JusticeLand on? Soft Dirt? Solid Stone?" Seth continued, laying his thoughts out in the open "Given the fact that we're dealing with a yonkou, we should have a backup plan in the event that they don't attack form the sea." The older Marine could only nod to Nola's words. It was true, the possibility of casualties, especially civilians, was too high, and Lev himself has argued that fact to the Commodore. Hell even the Commodore bought that up to High Command, but they refused to indulged him, forcing them to continue as planned. It was for that reason the Commodore was infuriated by the whole ordeal. If anything, it felt like they would be pinning the blame on him if anything went wrong. And so many things could go wrong in this one. The words of Seth mirrored the sentiment within the Marine Headquarters. Clearly, the man had the understanding why it was a harsh decision to make. Even under civilian casualties, the Marines had to be seen as a force to be reckon with. If they succeed, it would boost the prestige of the Marines, which was wavering after the failure at Neptunia. This was their best possible chance to battle against the growing threat of Bright-Eyes after all. Stop him here, and probably it would stem the tide. " The young Lieutenant is right though. As much as we wish to ensure the safety of the civilians here, the fear would only bring our reputation down. That is something the higher ups could not bear. If we fight, and we lose, at least it showed the Marines are not giving up. But if we simply let the fears overcome us, and we lose, then the prestige would show we are no longer able defenders. It is a heavy choice to make, but to be fair, the best one." Lev explained to the ladies, knowing that they did not agree with it. He did not as well, but there was little chance they could change the mind of those in command. " But let us not dwell on it, ladies. After all, this might be the last day we have. Tell me a bit more about yourselves." The Commander asked, trying to brighten up the place. After all, he rather have only one brooding character here with his Commodore. Captain Vance smiled at the words of Seth, however, seeing the man had an incredible understanding of the situation they are in. It was why they have not gone around telling the whole Marines stationed here, since they would not be able to handle it as well. With her two aides by her, she listened to the man. " Well, we currently have only fifteen Den Den Mushis in our armory, in addition to fifty rifles, sixty pistols, thirty swords and three hundred bullets. We have not been able to procure more from headquarters, although they may be a slight chance they would provide us with more, but we have to work with what we have. As for the surroundings, everything within the themepark is basically been stoned, so there won't be an issue with footings. However, there are parts of the island that has not been touched yet, basically at the eastern side of the island. There, the place is still dirt, although from our intel, it does seem solid enough. They were planning to expand more rides there in the future, although it seems we have more to do than that right now." Lilian replied, looking at the man. " If anything, we have a feeling they would be trying to dock their ships at the eastern part of the island, and then weed their way through the forest based there before striking us. It seems to be the best place to have a landing party, away from our eyes. The woods itself provide enough cover for them to amass there, before moving in." She added, signalling to her aides who produced a map of the island and placing it in front of Seth. The western side of the island, where the main docks are as well as the theme park, was clearly marked, with the place they are in spread across north to south of the island. The eastern side of the island, however, was still a forest, although not large, still engulfed the eastern banks, which would protect anyone from seeing the other side unless they go through the forest. |

Anna knew not telling any of the civilians was wrong, but giving her rank nobody would even take her word if you wish to be noticed and have your opinion, even thought about you needed one thing in the marines and it was not power, but rank, in other words, a title. She knew it was stupid to just put people at risk, and the marines only cared about their image, something she did not like, but Anna would change that in the future and try to rank up and have her word heard. Anna didn't like this higher ranking marine he only cared about his own image, not only weak but foolish. "Nola, say what you like, in the end, you're not even a marine, I myself am of low rank, our words don't mean a thing unless you gain the title, so stop talking about something they will not listen too." Anna was colder for that second. Anna would drink her wine, but then put it down her sharp glare locked onto Seth. "I do understand what you mean by marines should be prepared to die, and I don't wish to speak out of line, but a marine that only thinks about death is one that has given up, not only the people but serving under the government. I do not prepare myself for death, but for life so I can keep fighting, I will not run away just because I think the battle could kill me, I will fight with my all, knowing I will come out as the winner even if I die, I think that is what makes a great marine someone that will fight until the end not thinking he will lose, but win and live on." Anna would say her eye's close taking a drink from her glass. She believes someone should not die because that is running away. |

Nola listened to the two members of her so called crack team and only continued to eat, even as the man tried to change the subject, but there was one thing they had all overlooked and Nola felt the need to point it out, though she did finish her mouthful of food before doing so which had sadly allowed, Anna to make a long winded retort that could have been summed up in a sentence had she taken the time to think it through, and as she herself cleared her throat she looked at all assembled. "So...we are operating under the assumption that this is bright eyes and so we are setting ourselves up as the big god damn heroes by letting civilians die by being here during the attack, and we plan to stop it...and by we I mean the marines. That's all well and good...but only if this IS bright eyes...if it's some other pirate emboldened by bright eyes' actions then the loss of civilian lives will only look like an ever larger blunder against a new and maybe unheard of pirate elevating that pirate if he gets away, and if not it will only make the marines look even more inept...as for me well I am just a doctor, maybe I don't have a rank or anything, but i seem to be the only Civilian here to point certain things out from a civilian point of view...." she took a sip from her juice, not liking the Idea of enjoying what was essentially poison in the form of alcohol. "Now then as for your reputation, what of it? that can be repaired by doing your job, it's not like people can really replace you all...they have you around to do your jobs so do them, lost lives only increase the amount of people that dislike the marines for having failed to save their loved ones....and as for marines should be prepared to lay their lives down? okay sure that's understandable it's a dangerous job....but should Civilians be ready to die simply to save the reputation of the marines? shouldn't they be able to rely that they shouldn't need to be ready for that? But hey that's just the civilian view..." she finished as she looked to Seth before turning to the man asking more about themselves. Honestly she really seen no reason to continue to bring up the point she felt that her point was made, whether people took the point and let it hit home was all up to them she wasn't going to waste time beating at a brick wall "So what would you like to know? I could very easily tell you Anna's measurements if you want" she asked Lev. |
