Knowing he was the newest of the group, he was rather surprised that the captain did not confront him about his frankness. Komei half expected her to actually say something like to keep his mouth quiet in such situation, yet all she did was actually praising them in a way. It was a rather shocking turn of events, and he had to somewhat marvel the captain for saying such a thing. It would no doubt give the apparent quartet a boost in their job. It only made the young Marine proud. Having his orders, Komei decided it was best to go ahead. He wanted to perform, especially after the captain finally called his name proper. It was a good sign for him to keep his work up. " Understood Ma'am." He stated as he followed up with Eloy. He had to wonder what exactly they were up against. They were still not briefed about the whole situation, with what he could get was something was affecting this village, and apparently there was extremely scarce in population. Were they meant to protect the mayor in some way? Or is there a more sinister plot at hand? He could not tell, and all he could do is head south towards the train station. " Weird to see that mayor being so calm at such a situation, no? Her secretary was panicking at the sight of us, and yet she barely got shock at seeing us. Something probably has been attacking this town." Komei stated as he walked by the other Marine, keeping a quick pace to ensure they reached the station quickly. He could not help but shake a certain feeling that this would not be as easy as they would have hoped for, and he certainly wished the captain picked the right people for this little situation. It was the only thing he could probably do at this time, trying to predict what sort of threats they would be facing. |

The short trip to the train station as expected was relatively quiet, there was hardly a soul around. Yet the buildings didn’t seem… abandoned so much as avoided. The tracks of people and animals alike had been moved through the area about a day or so ago. It was still a rather strange matter. The station was in decent condition but just as lively as the rest of the town. The cacophony of steam and squealing metal could be heard in the distance. The shape of the train was easy to make out in the distance, it was on time at least. Peering at the two marines from a safe distance was a man watching from behind the cover of the empty ticket booth. He spoke into an object in his hands, reporting what he observed. He was a hard man to spot, secreted away as he was, but he wasn’t going to do anything as of yet. |

Komei had spoken up about how suspicious it was that the secretary was frightened and the mayor was not. Eloy nodded, agreeing with him. "Right, that being said, the Captain did kind of barge in unannounced. Overall though, we definitely wouldn't be here if this town/island wasn't in some sort of need." Eloy shrugged his shoulders before nonchalantly reaching in his back pant's pocket and pulling out a pair of black rubber gloves. He would slowly slip them on, one by one as if he were preparing for something. When they arrived at the station, the condition of the buildings around it weren't a surprise at all. Looking as if people had fled the place. A growing uneasiness crept over Eloy, but he remained vigilant, slowly checking his surroundings. The sound of a train could be heard as smoke billowed into the air. Well, even though it was a machine, seeing some form of "life" made him feel a little better. All that was left to do was wait for the others before they boarded. Being on a train meant that they would be in a confined, finite space. Nothing bad would happen on the train though, right? |

The arrival at the station was rather omnious. Komei could see the lack of activity, just like the town itself. He could not shake the feeling something was happening to this town, something that forced the population to either leave the town, or simply vanish. He could not tell what sort of entity has been doing this, but he was certain it left a scar of fear through every person still leaving in this town. He did not like the lack of information the younger Marines had. Such things would have placed them in dangers, simply because they did not know the dangers lurking about the place. If they were unprepared, it would no doubt be their downfall. Komei doubted such a situation was due to something nice anyways. The young tactician felt a pang of someone was watching them. He could not tell who or from where, but he was certain someone was lurking in the shadows. Even as his eyes scanned the area, he could not pinpoint the location. He could feel eyes bearing down on him, and though he could feel any sort of ill feelings to the duo, he felt there was again, more than meets the eye. " I agree to that. But the whole town looked almost abandoned. And the lack of people is truly weighing on the situation. Adding that to the Mayor's reaction, does not seem to fit the situation, don't you think?" Komei stated, his awareness now more on his surroundings. The oncoming train seemed well on its way to them, but even that is bringing him a feeling of uneasiness. Surely there was nothing that was going to attack them from it. In his mind, he simply wished his Captain informed them on what exactly they are facing here. |

Sera, Luwhinge and Captain Harlocke stayed behind with the mayor helping her to iron out the details of the escort. The mayor still wasn’t entirely satisfied with the arrangements but she felt compelled to make them work regardless. As they departed from the town hall, they took up a formation just as a precaution. Captain Harlocke walked far ahead of the group, the mayor was central to it, and the two younger Marines took up the rear. Along the walk seemed like a pertinent time to spring the question, the mayor looked over her shoulder at Sera. “So, why is a brat like you in the marines?” She said indignantly. “It’s my um… family’s tradition I suppose you could say.” Sera replied, nervously adjusting the weight of the duffel bag over her shoulder. Mayor Whitley turned her head to the other shoulder, narrowing her eyes at the one she had already deemed to be trouble. “And you?” “I’ve got my reasons.” Lou said, which was a polite manner for him of saying ‘Mind your own damn business.’ and crossed his arms again to reaffirm the message. Getting anything out him was always like pulling teeth. The mayor gave up on the idea of being civil with him and just looked forward again with a sigh of disapproval. As they finally arrived at the train station they met with Eloy and Komei idling there, and the Captain went directly to them asking for a report. The train was only moments from rolling into the station. The screech of the train putting on full brakes and coming to a stop just in front of them was a lot louder than Sera was expecting and she covered her ears. The mayor and the captain seemed unphased by it. From one of the several entrances to the train cars, the Ticketmaster waved to them to everyone gathered there to gain their attention but eyed the mayor with a little discontent. He was polite enough, however, to assist everyone boarding the train, insisting on the women first. The captain was courteous and took his hand as she stepped up. The mayor was offered a hand but refused as she made her own way up despite the gentleman. Sera took his hand as he almost lifted her up entirely on his own. “Pandering to the ladies, are we?” Luwhinge commented from afar, being an annoyance as usual. He waited until the other two marines boarded before stepping up himself. During this whole transaction the mysterious man seemed to have vanished, or at the least no one noticed him. The car they all boarded was specially made for luxury travel, consisting of only a tight hallway and a small room that took up the remained of the space, big enough for everyone to fit in. Sadly they weren’t here to enjoy the luxuries, the captain had allowed the mayor to enter the room first to discuss with her team. “Alright. Due to the nature of this mission, you’ll have to split into two groups. One covers the car ahead of us, and the other covers the cabin behind us. I’ll leave it up to you decide who does what. I’ll be with Mayor Whitley if anything comes up.” She took a deep breath and clasped her hands together “Any questions?” |

It was finally time to begin boarding the train. Captain Harlocke and company had walked their way down, Eloy could see that the Mayor was chatting among some of them, but he could't hear what she was saying. As the train came to a screeching halt, Eloy stepped aside in order to allow everyone to board before him. Everyone except for Lou that is, who waited for Eloy and Komei to board before he got on. It was clear at this moment that this guy was most likely some sort of guard for either Sera or Harlocke herself. Eloy nodded at Lou as he and Komei boarded. The train cabins were much more luxurious then Eloy had anticipated. It had been years since he'd been on a train so, this experience was amusing for him. He weaved his head back and forth, looking into the different cabins that had their doors open, before they all settled into one. Eloy took a seat next to the window and looked through it. With his head resting on his right hand, he looked over at the Captain as she spoke up. Again, they would have to split up into two groups while she stayed with the Mayor. Eloy wasn't sure if he had to remain with Komei (which he didn't mind). The fact that Ueki wasn't here and that Lou's job was to protect Sera most likely meant that he and Komei would have to head to the front or back, together. He nodded to the Captain and got up from his seat: "I'll head to the front." He said calmly as he exited the cabin without waiting for anyone. So far, everything was calm, which he liked. Perhaps this mission wouldn't be all that hard after all. Breathing a sigh of relief to himself, he would open the door to the front cabin and peek in a bit before entering. It was somewhat similar to the one he had just left. Again, he would take a seat next to the window and through it while waiting for Komei or perhaps Sera to enter. |

In truth, Komei felt they were still not properly informed about the mission. He wanted to get more out of it, especially from the Mayor who seemed secretive to say the least. It did not help, and he felt certain that there was more to it. The whole situation still seemed to be a little out of it. The young Marine had to admit just maybe the Captain knew more, but he could only hope that she was ready for it rather than be taken by surprise. As he was about to ask about what this mission truly pertains, the other Marine was already skipping ahead, towards another part of the train. Eloy seemed fine to actually go ahead with orders, although the tactician personally felt they should find more about this. It was rather clear he was the only one amongst them that would be asking, but he chose to keep it to himself for now. He wanted to, but being the newest member of the crew, it would be rather rude of him. With no choice, he had to decide whether to go with Eloy or another of the trio. While he had no problem, he was simply worried due to him being a rather weak link if a fight were to occur. The group seemed more or less strong enough to handle anything, so he was left with the choice of where would be much weaker if he goes over. Feeling that he was more comfortable being with Eloy, since the Marine was his partner if only for a few minutes, it would be useful if he were to stick by it. " I guess I'll be at the front then. I'll report anything suspicious to you, Ma'am." He stated as he moved to the front as well, closing the door behind him as he did. Finding the other youngster by the window, he took a seat opposite him, looking out at the island as they began their journey. " I don't think the tranquility of our start will stay throughout the journey." Komei commented, feeling the foreboding instinct of his starting to grow exponentially. |

The captain made no objection to the formed groups, and as planned took her seat with the mayor in the private room, making sure to secure the room as she closed the door. Nothing could be heard from the inside of that room, but the air was likely very tense considering their already not-so-cozy working relationships. “Okay then…” Sera stated as the others walked away. “I suppose then that we’ll take the back…” She was mentally preparing herself for watching over the area, as she heard Luwhinge audibly grumble. “Oh, would you just come over here already!?” She complained, already getting fed up with her subordinate. He complied but with a few complaints and choice words of his own. The two of them quietly boarded the next train car, and once they had completely closed the doors behind them the train finally jerked into motion. Their long endurance test had begun, Sera imagined that mostly meant staying awake in the bleak quiet and boring atmosphere in case someone tried to sneak on past them. She wasn’t thinking broad enough, not knowing in truth the aggressive, take what you want kind of lifestyle of the people who lived here, only because the only person she’d really met here was the mayor and her easily terrified desk jockey. The seats in this train car left a lot of open space than some other seating arrangements. The chairs were much more a single couch lining one side of the train entirely, with a velvet carpet laid out down the middle. The seats were leathery and hadn’t lost all of their bounce yet, making them quite comfy. Sera sat contently bouncing a few times with glee until she settled perfectly into position. Luwhinge sat opposite her making no attempt to enjoy the situation, leaning forward with his head in hand and staring at the girl who was much younger and more inexperienced than him, that he was required to obey. Sera forgetting the previous tension for a moment looked back at Luwhinge with some confusion. “What’s wrong? You seem disturbed.” “What’s wrong!?” He chortled with a rueful expression like he could rant for hours on that one answer. “Well for one damn thing I now sleep on a bloody boat wit’ a bunch a' smelly sailors, livin’ some queer’s fantasy!” He began, embellishing his words with hand gestures and an indignant-dramatic tone of voice. “Oh, and then, then there’s you-” “Me!?” Sera yelled a little hurt by that comment. “Not only am I stuck in a death trap of an environment I’m taking orders from a runt because o’ some lousy paper mix up that not a damn person wants to clear up!” He crossed his arms grumpily, finally leaning back into his seat only to be aloof, and look off in the distance. “I don’t understand. I try really hard to make you feel welcome, but you’re always so bitter.” She complained, she began to wonder why she kept trying so much. “Ain’t a bloody thing ya can do about it, girlie. Thas life for ya.” He said in a huff, making sure not to look back at her, trying to end the conversation. “Hmph!” Sera pouted as she jumped from her seat. “Then I’ll just have to try harder.” She continued as she fought her way up onto his seat and sat practically hugging the poor guy in his seat. She was beginning to remember why she tried, that was all she needed. Luwhinge in all honestly was completely conflicted, and he wasn’t sure why but he couldn’t bring himself to throw her off, not that hitting girls was his style or anything. He kept his head turned away as she held tight to him, to hide his embarrassment. “Un-bloody-believable” Just then, the door swung open at the opposite end of the cabin, and a man spoke up. “Well isn’t that just adorable.” Reaching into his pockets he pulled out a pair of knuckle dusters and menaced upon them from a distance... As Komei and Eloy had taken their seats, the train began to move, roaring to life once again. The view from their window was promising to be brilliant once they had left the township of Gold Powder. Despite the fact that there were no rolling hills of green and lush forests, they could view the vistas of the desert, sprawling mesas, and maybe even a savannah in due time. As the train had come to a steady pace, the Ticketmaster reappeared, as he walked past the rooms. Sensing that the two young Marines were sitting together up there, he doubled back to talk with them both. As he approached the doorway, he didn’t stand in it so much as lean against it with a hand clasped over the side, watching them from the opposite side of their room. The man couldn’t have been older than his mid-twenties, but even he looked tired, which was odd considering the attendance they had at the moment. “You all are rather young to be Marines.” He started, which at first sounded like the same condescending drivel they were getting all day, but he finished by saying. “I’m sure that’s no simple feat. Congrats.” Awkwardly, he pulled himself a bit closer to them, getting a foot halfway into the doorway. “So why are you guys protecting that greedy witch?” he finally bellowed. That was the one thing that had really been eating away at him, the root of this whole visit. His face slowly began to regain its color after he got that off his chest. If Komei or Eloy inquired as to what he meant, he’d tell them to go ask Mayor Whitley for themselves. He looked at them cautiously after hearing their response and began to retreat towards the lead cars. “Well, sorry for bothering you…” |

Eloy watched with his eyes as Komei entered into the cabin and sat down opposite of him. At this moment, the train would begin to move. He looked back through the window and listened as Komei explained that their moment of peace would most likely not persist. Komei was right and Eloy already knew this. He smirked a bit and nodded while keeping his gaze through the window. "Oh, most definitely." As nonchalant as Eloy appeared on the outside, he was actually anticipating the worst. Why? Because escort missions are deceptively more convoluted then what they seem. And thanks to experience, Eloy was ready. Despite his apprehension, he was glad that Komei seemed to be the calm and collected type. He wasn't sure what physical prowess the young Marine had, but a sharp mind with enough brawn was a good enough mesh in Eloy's opinion. The Ticketmaster would walk passed their cabin and then double back, striking up a rather awkward conversation. The man gained Eloy's attention as he looked away from the window. He listened as he made a remark about how young they all were before congratulating them. With an uninterested nod, Eloy looked away, responding with a dry: "Thank you." The guy would then ask why they were protecting that "greedy witch." Technically, everyone abroad this train was working. So, Eloy wasn't quite sure why this guy was being so unprofessional. As agents of the Government, their reasons were their business. This guy was rubbing Eloy the wrong way. He didn't answer the question, but he did give a confused glare towards the man, before eyeing Komei and then turning his attention back towards the window. The guy would finally leave before apologizing for bothering them. Eloy rolled his eyes: "Some people man...." He shook his head in disapproval. "No doubt he's not the only one with those sentiments. Which probably means our job wont be any easier after this train ride." Edited by DiaDia, Jun 27 2017, 12:46 PM.

The trip was quiet, almost too quiet to his liking. Komei still did not get the reason as to why they are here, but he chose to suppress that. No need to keep himself entertained by such notions. The moving train was rather comforting, even if it felt bumpy. Not to mention the sights from inside the trains was somewhat interesting. Moving at such a speed, one would wonder what ingenuity of Man could create if they put their mind into it. As an inventor himself, he had always hoped to create something beautiful like this. Maybe he would in the future, who knows. The sudden appearance of the Ticketmaster was surprising. Calling out on how young they were, it felt neither like a praise or a warning. Of course, they were younger than most Marines, and they were placed in a division, something most Marines only start when they were in their twenties. But both of them have abilities that probably gave them a chance to join such a division. Clearly, it would make many people wonder why there were kids, but none of them have shown they were any weaker than the normal grunts of the Marines. Komei decided to rush off the comment, believing it irrelevant for their mission. However, it was only his next words that made his curosity grow again. Greedy witch. So the whole situation now seemed to be against his understanding of it. If someone calls you a greedy witch, clearly they were not loved by anyone. Was that the reason why the town had barely anyone in it? The Mayor is someone who is corrupted? Even before Komei could ask, the Ticketmaster already apologized and went off. It sparked his interest in the matter again, his eyes already glowing with the new evidence. True, it was by one man, but even then, it was probably the only other person aside from the Mayor and her assistant in the town, so his words could hold something. " If he is not the only one with that sentiment, I don't believe it would be safe for any of us. If she is corrupted as he stated, then we won't just have to worry about random bandits and whatnot to strike. We could actually be in for a riot, especially if she is the one creating such a situation." The young Marine stated, his mind wondering what the outcome would be. To be called a witch as something, no doubt there was a slight feel of hostility. If others have the same notion, there was a slight chance it might grow into a sentiment that may prove to be hazardous for the mission. He looked back to the door leading to the Mayor and Captain, wondering if he should simply go in there and confront them. Just what exactly are they doing here? Escorting a Mayor that may just possibly be corrupted to somewhere safer? It was leaving his mind running, feeling a sense of danger coming about for them. " We have to keep our eyes out not only for external threats, but internal as well. If this Mayor is the source of the trouble, no doubt she will be adding fuel to the fire when push comes to shove. We have no reason to simply let her force us into a situation that would not benefit any of us." Komei stated, beginning to let his senses feel the area. For now, he could barely feel any dangers surrounding them. Who knows what would happen until they arrive, but he had to ensure they do not simply fall into a ruse. |

Sera and Lou recoiled at the sudden appearance of the man who they most distinctly recall didn’t board the train with them when the Ticketmaster called for the mayor and her escort. The guy was pretty tall, with rough blonde shaggy and hair and mutton chops to match a square face and scar that crosses over his left eyebrow. “Are the two of you just on the wrong train, or are you actually going to stand in my way?” He said frowning and getting a little impatient. Luwhinge, who had gotten to his feet when the man surprised them looked back at Sera who had fallen on her butt and appeared to still reeling somewhat from the experience. Lou looked at the man rather annoyed with the situation. Grabbing his marine cap by the lip, he tilted it down to cover his eyes. “Yare yare daze,” he muttered in a new, gruff tone of voice, and oddly enough another language. He stepped into the center of the aisle blocking Sera from view. “Oi, numpty. I’d very much prefer you leave us the way you came. It’d make things plenty easier going on our end.” He took up a fighting stance that Sera had never seen before. “Wait! Since when can you fight!?” Sera cried, very confused with all the sudden turns that she forgot to be scared for a bit. “You’ve never asked, girlie.” Lou retorted sharply. The man grits his teeth as he charged the annoying kid down, and Lou stood his ground. “You’re going to regret standing up to me, Shitstain!” he made for a right hook, and Sera waited for Lou to do something defensively, or even strike back. In all truth, the poor kid was only putting up a front, and he was frozen in place as he got slugged in the chest and launched over Sera with ease. “...You don’t know how to fight, do you?” Sera questioned him as he struggled to get to his feet. “I fig- figured I’d watched pretty boy enough ta hold my own…” he coughed, trying to catch his breath. All of the commotion was surely heard through the next few train cars, but it didn’t matter too much as soon the trouble would be upon them, as Sera dragged Luwhinge through the other train cars, the man chased them all the way to Komei and Eloy without thinking to search through the car they passed through on the way there. “Komei! Eloy! I need some help!” she shouted over the already loud complaining of Lou getting dragged half the distance before getting up himself and running. Their assailant was practically on their heels, and while it was odd that the man didn’t go for the room they ran straight past, nor did the Captain leave the room to assist them at such an opportune time. Sera and Lou ducked into the room opposite their two friends to hide, but the man didn’t lose track of them for a moment but left him readily exposed to the others. |

Eloy glanced over at Komei with his eyes as he spoke about them not being safe. And that they could be in for more then they originally thought, a riot even. Eloy sighed to himself as Komei continued. External and more importantly, internal threats were something that Komei was worried about. Which made enough sense. If the Mayor was the fan that fueled the flames of this mission, they had to be careful as to not let her actions place them in harms way. Eloy grew a little frustrated at this point. He looked back out through the window. "Speculation set aside, let's just hope that the Captain knows whats going on. Something tells me that she does. We have our mission set out for us, I don't see why we have to get swept up in domestic disputes. Even though, it probably can't be helped." He thought back on the political figures that his father was in cahoots with and narrowed his eyes a bit. "Political heads of Government are loved and hated all at....." Just then, Eloy could hear a scuffle from one of the other cabins. He looked at the door of his cabin and narrowed his eyes, unsure if something was happening or not. That's when we heard screaming and it sounded like Sera's voice. Eloy quickly got up from his seat and calmly placed his back against the door, trying to listen if anyone was near. Hearing foot steps pass by, he slowly opened the door and peeked out. He could see Sera dragging Lou into another cabin. What the hell happened? Wasn't he supposed to be the help? Eloy was confused at first, but it made sense once he saw a tall, blonde man chasing after them. Eloy looked at Komei and motioned him to follow. He didn't want to speak, because he didn't want to give away his position. At this moment, they had the element of surprise on their side. Once Komei was ready, he would take the lead. In one quick motion, Eloy swung open the door and ran up to the blonde guy from behind, in a lowered stance. The guy was taller then Eloy so he would have to bring him down to his level before giving a finishing blow. They were in a finite area so, Eloy already had a plan. When he got close enough, he would land a blow to the base of the guy's spine with two knuckles. Directly after, he would kick at the back of the guy's left leg, causing him to collapse down onto one knee. Eloy would then take a step forward and aim an elbow smash to the side of his face. The guy would get his head smashed into a cabin door, partially breaking it. Eloy stood over the guy and looked up at Komei. "I think Sera and Lou went into that cabin." He pointed with his thumb. "I'll keep guard here." |

It was clear Eloy did not wish to get involved too much in speculating, unlike his partner. Komei was too caught up in the whole idea of a possible situation where the Mayor was the bigger threat at this point that he almost failed to realize the noises coming from the other side. Only when his partner began to react did the tactician realize what was happening. The clear sounds of a scuffle was happening definitely two cabins away from them. At first, Komei wondered if that was simply the Ticketmaster again, but it was clear indications of a fight happening. Or maybe someone running away. He followed straight up after Eloy motioned him to follow, letting him take the lead. If there was an enemy, Komei was not equipped to handle such a situation. His partner was probably more experienced in a fight than him anyways, so it was much better to let him take the fight and he'll simply support the man. The instant they showed themselves, the man that was apparently chasing the other team was already taken out, and most probably unconscious. The young Marine looked around, trying to figure where exactly the other duo escaped to. With the assailant seemingly down, he looked behind them, just in case there were more of them. With none in sight, he rushed towards the cabin where they hid, opening the door as he could hear them rushing inside. " Sera? Lou? You guys alright?" He asked as he opened the door, more or less trying to ensure they did not start hitting him as he entered the room. With the assailant appearing now, it was starting to be clear this is an assassination attempt on someone. Besides, they did not even noticed anyone was on board the train beforehand. Maybe they should have searched the cabins before actually simply putting themselves on guard duty. Komei knew he should have bought that up, frustrated over his failure to do that. |

As Eloy stepped out the man was peering into the room that Sera and Lou had ducked into, as he was about to round the corner. The surprise attack landed well, it was opportune and quick. He only grunted as the kid punched him in the spine, turning to grab Eloy by the neck. Once he got kicked in the leg, however, his resistance was put to rest, his face slamming into the door. The intruder was definitely unconscious. Komei was lucky, there surely wasn’t a person there to punch him in the face, but he caught Sera in the process of loading her finger gun. She jumped dropping the bullet onto the ground but quickly felt relieved as she noticed there wasn’t a blonde guy staring in at them. Luwhinge was propped up against a seat, holding his chest like his life depended on it. Without saying a word, Sera ran to tackle and hug Komei she was so happy not to be chased by that guy anymore. “I… I could have handled that…” Lou said from afar, not in the mood to move from his position. The man’s body slid off the wall, and in his unconscious state, he groaned, making it clear that he was still alive. |

Eloy kept his focus on the man he pummeled and on Komei. He watched as Komei opened the door, asking if Sera and Lou were alright. Immediately, Sera would run up and hug Komei. Eloy smirked a bit, Sera was evidently scared and he didn't blame her. Despite her situation, she did a good job at making sure her "body guard" was safe. Her small stature made her a target, perhaps that's why this guy went after her first? Regardless, if her guard didn't have any fighting prowess, maybe Eloy could help the guy. Eloy looked down at the man and noticed that he was beginning to stir. Eloy narrowed his eyes and used his foot to turn the man over onto his stomach. He would grab his right arm and twist it behind his back before placing a knee into his back so that he wouldn't move. "Mind telling us who you are?" He asked calmly, unsure if the guy was even awake yet. |
