It was mid-afternoon when the marine ship arrived in the port that morning, the usual docking routine ensued, everyone was already well busy keeping the ship in operational order and ready to embark. They were waiting on word from the Captain before they actually stepped off. In fact, they’d been waiting on word from her for a very long time, since the morning when she was previously overseeing things. A few days ago she requested that they make their way to Wild Wild West, and had yet to explain why. Her attitude as of late had a lot of the marines concerned, especially with her odd priority of putting the few chore kids a board on missions of ahead of more senior members, yet they held their tongues for now.

Sera decided today that she’d help the other marines furl the sails… and boy did she regret that. Out of spite, they made her pull the left side on her own, which was nigh impossible. Once she was sufficiently exhausted they came back to assist her. She was already tired and the day had hardly begun. In secret, she retreated to the chore girls' bunks to get some time with a little coffee, and to drool over her newest toy, which she had yet to use. Their last mission was kind of a disappointment in that regard. But she held onto hope, thinking warm thoughts as she embraced it like another child would a stuffed animal.

She escaped back out onto deck after a short period, hoping she didn’t run into Lou as she searched for her other friends. She liked having someone under her beck and call, but someone else would certainly have been preferable. She was certain that he’d find his way to her anyway if there was one thing about that jerk, he was dutiful. Just then, Sera spotted someone, she had to repress the excitement to just skip towards them. She was just anxious for something to happen. Sera tapped them on the shoulder...

Mid-afternoon had struck and Eloy found himself buried deep in one of his med books, studying, on top of his bed. The room was starting to get stuffy which was an indicator that it was time to go out into the real world and start the day. It would also appear that they had finally docked somewhere. Eloy wasn't sure what today would be like due to the fact that their Captain hadn't said anything to them prior. A slight sense of worry crept over him because their last mission didn't quite go as planned. They would all have to suck it up though, gotta take the good with the bad sometimes.

He sighed to himself as he closed his book and leaped down from the bunk bed. He would walk over to the wardrobe and find a shirt to place on. Eyeing Ueki's bed, he didn't see him there, perhaps he was already out? He was the energetic type so that would come as no surprise. Placing on his cut off Navy shirt along with his other attire, he would walk out to the deck and take in a deep breath. It was your typical scenario, Marine crew mulling about from here to there. Eloy figured that he'd get into his routine with his yoga/Tai Chi exercise.

But before he could isolate himself, he would hear skipping and then felt someone tap on his shoulder. Smiling a bit, he turned his head before turning his entire body to face Sera.

"Ah, there she is." He said in a playful manner while crossing his arms.

"Caffeine intake up to par?" He teased.

The newest member of Division 240 felt rather odd on the boat. After their last mission, Komei decided to join in with the division, ordering the men escorting him previously to report to HQ that he did. After all, this division does seem well enough to work out a couple of situation that could assist him. He felt it was necessary to help them out.

That does not, however, put off the fact he felt a little uncomfortable here. If anything, he put that as him not really knowing the crew he was in. He helped out whenever he could of course, but even then he mostly did things on his own, not knowing exactly how to interact with the division. But he understood he had to start socializing with them. How else was he going to get to understand what this division is about?

As such, Komei was already on the ship deck, looking out into the seas as they approached a new island, a new adventure. It was rather exciting for the young lad, but he tried not to make too much of a fuzz about it. He was the doctor, and he had to be calm and collected about it. He would have thought he was the youngest of them, but they were even younger people about this ship. If anything, it would put people off guard on them, but he knows well enough what sort of fighters are on board here.

He took a glance behind him, seeing two other members starting to talk. Eloy and Sera, two others that were younger than him. Again, it only shows this division was made out of youth, though whether forced or for the future, he could not tell. He decided to approach them, taking a steady walk as his black coat, a size too big for him, dragged on the deck.

" Anyone has any idea what we are doing here in this part of the Blue?"

He asked from a few paces away.

Right out of the gate, Eloy kind of surprised her with his attitude. Not to say he had acted much different before, but she could tell he had warmed up to her. “Shut up, coffee is amazing.” She said punching him lightly on the arm and crossed her arms in return.

Then Komei turned up, asking the important questions that nobody really had the answer to. “I don’t really know. The captain has been tight-lipped, and from all the conversation none of the rest of the crew really knows either.” The thought of their situation made her feel unsettled, this was so unusual for their captain, but there had to be some reason for it.

“We are here,” a voice began as heavy boots hit the deck with the familiar tenor of a particularly popular person this morning, that of Captain Harlocke. “To investigate corruption.” She finished, her long drawn out sentence, as marines fell in line in front of her.

“However, there is something more important that also comes along today. A local mayor in this region needs an escort, and as you may know, this place is vastly lawless. So, I’ll be putting together a small team for that effort.” A few groans could be heard as some were already putting the pieces together in their heads, looking disdainfully at their other, much younger crewmates. “HOWEVER,” She started again, pulling out her odachi and using it to point at them like a deranged person attempting to instruct a classroom, “The rest of you will be divided into two groups, one of which will supplement the forces of the marines in their bases for next few days, while the other will stay in the town of Gold Powder while we escort their mayor. You are here to help, but most importantly, keep an ear to the ground. Listen for anything suspicious or corrupt activities, and I expect to two full reports afterward. I’ll leave it among you to divide yourselves.” Then, she leveled her drawn sword at the young marines. “The three of you, are with me today.”

Sera would give a playful punch to his arm before matching his attitude with her's. He smiled at her, curious to see how far he could push her patience. But their playful little banter would be interrupted by Komei, who asked what they were doing here. Sera would answer first, stating that the Captain has been silent as of late and that no one knew anything. Eloy nodded at Sera as she spoke and would then turn to Komei.

"Good morning, Komei."

He nodded at him as well right before Captain Harlocke made her appearance. She would start by saying that they were here to investigate corruption. Eloy's ears perked up, this seemed interesting already. She would then state that the mayor of this lawless region needed an escort. Eloy's heart sank as he got flashbacks of Cherry Village and the jungle that they were almost decimated in. This would be a split mission. A group of Marines would stay in town and be on the lookout while another group escorted the mayor. Seemed simple enough. Finally, she would point her sword towards himself, Komei and Sera, they were all coming with her. Eloy uncrossed his arms and nodded.

"Yes ma'am." He said calmly.

To hear that no one but the captain knows of their current mission was rather weird. Komei would have expected the crew to be told, though to be fair they were teenagers, so possibly the only ones not in the loop were them. But either way, he had hoped that people that have been part of this crew longer than him would know the situation. He disliked entering missions without knowing the lowdown of every nook and cranny.

Before he could reply to Eloy's greetings, the sudden appearance of the Captain almost took him by surprise. Hearing the explanation of what they were planning to do here, at least Komei felt a little safer. He was not truly a fighter, and he highly doubted he has fighting capabilities that could compare to anyone in this division. It was rather nice that he would be part of the group with the youngsters of the group. He felt gaining that camadarie would at least benefit him in the long run.

" Understood Ma'am."

He replied as he stood in attention, eyeing the sword as if it would stab him. Not that he was afraid, but as of now, he was the newest guy, so he felt it was necessary he did not become too overconfident of his abilities. Still, he felt the mission was not fully stated for the three of them specifically, but at this island, no doubt it would be full of people trying to shoot them or something. And he was glad to be part of the Captain's team for that.

He could have sworn they'd been somewhere like this a minute ago but, he was still trying to recover from what happened in the last mission. It wasn't though he was going to give way to what he was told when scouting out the enemy but, one thing that was for sure was that he wasn't about to look at their captain the same way again. The marines the same way. Should he even continue in a service that his entire make up was the opposite of? Or should he keep going to stand out? Right now, ueki was anything but at peace with himself, and that's exactly why he was hiding away in the reserve room from all on the ship. It was relieving that he could hear the booming vocals of his captain from on top the deck, she was barking out something about some staying in the town while the others go with her, which was probably best since she no doubt suspected ueki's loyalties now. There was no doubt about that.

The wild wild west, an island where all the scary criminals come out to do their dealings, an island he was afraid to wear his normal uniform in. Despite his fear, he had his suit case in hand while in deep thought under where the conversation had reached it's end, focused on his game plan to either earn the trust among the people and thieves or stay a true blue marine with the like of them. One thing was sure, whatever choice he made would decide more down the road than he ever could imagine. "You can do this ueki. You are ready! You feel great!
YOU,CAN , DO THIS!
" He pep talked himself on his way up from his uncomfortable seat, starting to make his jolly way out on top the deck to greet everyone who turned his way with a nervous smile. He was sure to not draw to much attention from the captain by falling in line with the other group and trying to blend to his best abilities. One dagger, poison, throwing knives and a hidden weapon...he was good to go. This was going to be another tough mission.

It was great, everything they were about to do gave Sera a form of inspiration as she reminisced about her mother and how “this is totally something she would do” and how righteous it was to seek to undo the wrongs of a thing she thought to be nigh holy in comparison. But more importantly, there were plenty of potential targets here that she could finally use her newest toy upon, and her delusions of grand fantasy and romantic justice were soon overtaken by the rather cartoonish and mildly heinous ideas she had for violent affirmation of the law leaving those around her only to observe her thought process as she smiled up into the cloud before spontaneously revelling in a bout of maniacal laughter.

Though most of the marines were too busy actually organizing themselves to be concerned with Sera, which she was content with. However, this didn’t go over so well with everyone, especially one moss-headed individual in particular. A hand was placed on his shoulder, as a familiar voice piped up behind him. “I finally found you, you lout. I was worried you up ‘nd died or somethin’.” Luwhinge was there, with his usual half smile. “Now now, come with me. You bet-ah not try to get away from me now that I’ve spent my whole morning looking for ya.” His grip tightened surprisingly. “Now come along. The Cap’n wanted to make sure you came with us.” He had a rather vicious smile as he began to force him along.

After Lou forced him to join up with the others, the Captain had made their way to them and was making sure they were ready to move. “Oh, hey, there you are Luwhinge. I don’t need Ueki anymore. Leave him to the investigating group.” Lou stopped in his tracks and released him, but internally was exploding with anger. “Bloody freeloader.”

Letting Ueki return to where he previously was, Captain Harlocke looked at the group of them, nodded, happy with her inspection of their weapons and preparations and was eager to leave. She ordered them to stay in formation behind her as per protocol, and they strode on into the town. Luckily it wasn’t a long walk through Gold Powder, but the scenery compared to other venues they’d been to was supremely lacking. There wasn’t anything green in sight, the rolling tumbleweeds, red rock plateaus and mesas, and dull wooden buildings that had trouble hiding their age. Ueki was not in for a good time wherever he ended up on this mission. The poor kid practically thrives on plant life. Sera, on the other hand, was practically in heaven.

Eloy felt a little ambivalent about this mission cause yet again, there would most likely be some sort of domestic dispute involved. Not that he didn't like people or anything, but he was a bit on the paranoid side. He thought back on how the villagers at Cherry Village eyed him begrudgingly. And the revelation that a lot of people didn't like Marines took him for a loop, to an extent. Regardless of how he felt, he'd have to get over it. There was work to be done. He waited patiently for Harlocke to lead the way into town, but before that happened, Ueki would finally appear.

He was going to greet him, but a man by the name of "Lou" appeared and grabbed him by the shoulder in an attempt to bring him along with the rest of them. Harlocke disapproved however, she ordered Lou to let him go and stated that she didn't need him and that he'll be with the investigation group. Eloy eyed Harlocke a bit. Just what in the hell was going on? There was something in the air that Eloy wasn't picking up on. He looked at Ueki trying to find the right words but couldn't. He remained silent and followed Harlocke off of the ship and into town. The town in itself was pretty run down and aged. This typical scene was starting to frustrate Eloy. Most places they've been were in conditions like this. Loguetown didn't look like this. Clearly, the division of wealth centers around where the Marines were at. Or so it seemed.

With all the commotions happening on the ship, it left Komei rather lost. He still has not gotten used to the division just yet, not knowing everyone except what he would believe to be the youngest of the group. So even when Ueki reappeared on the deck with someone else of the group, the young Marine could barely say a word. Usually a man who speaks more often than not, he chose to keep himself silent, to ensure that he does not say anything bad.

With that in mind, he chose to follow in silence with the captain of the division. He still wondered why exactly he was chosen to be part of this group, thinking his skills more than usually suit staying behind somewhere. He understood why he was not part of the investigation team, seeing his skills are not that useful there, but even in this group, he felt somewhat useless. Maybe he could prove himself useful in some other ways aside from combat.

Following his new captain, Komei could see the town they were travelling past. It felt so different, walking into a place known for fighting. He was cautious throughout, not wanting to be caught out in a situation. He could predict a couple of scenarios that would occur at such a place, and each one proved to be fatal for the group. His mind ran through the different situations, trying his best to figure out ways to ensure their survival. Even in silence, he would not stop planning through everything. He rather not let this division fall as his previous division did.

As they reached their destination, they came to a building somewhat near to the center of this ghostly town, a building that didn’t really stand out in comparison to many of the other buildings around, and it was clear by the way the captain walked that they would enter it.

“That’s odd. I figured the town hall would be in better shape than it is right now, is the main building and all.” She said rubbing her chin. The captain didn’t offer any response to her inquiry.

The captain stepped onto the short wooden patio before throwing open the doors in a somewhat brash manner, and from behind a desk a flurry of papers exploded into the air, and a shrill shriek followed. The captain was briefly stunned. She had frightened… somebody.

“Hello?” Sera spoke out into the silence, met with only the sounds of someone cowering behind the desk. Finally, the person reappeared, and from the look of her, she was definitely the studious type. “O-OH! The Marines! Of course!” she clasped a hand over her chest as she caught her breath a bit. “Gosh, you guys really frightened me. I almost thought you wer-”

The captain was already tired of her, and cut in just then. “We’re here to see the mayor. I’m assuming she’s upstairs?” The woman, presumably the mayor’s secretary closed her mouth tight and only nodded.

“Don’t trouble yourself, Captain. I was just on my way down.” a voice came from the stairs. A woman in an astonishing yellow dress began to descend the stairs, not in a showy manner mind you, a rather commanding one. The look on her face easily compared to that of Harlocke’s and she stopped at the bottom and smiled briefly while she greeted the newcomers. “Captain, I’m glad you could spare some time to-” She caught herself for a moment, having only glanced at the ‘small’ entourage of marines to notice something a little disturbing to her. “You’ve brought children to defend me.” She was unamused and looked around as if she expected it to be some prank, trying to spot the actual Marines.

The crew had finally reached a building to which Harlocke entered first. In a rather brash way, Harlocke bolted in and startled someone. With a shrill shriek, Eloy stopped walking a bit and looked around, waiting for Harlocke to move in closer. A confetti of papers went into the air and rained down like snow before a women who was cowering behind her made an appearance. The studious/secretarial type (judging by her glasses), she would speak out about her mis-identifying them for someone else. Harlocke would cut the chatter short and ask for the mayor who was apparently, a women.

A voice would then call out towards the crew as the mayor herself descended from upstairs. Wearing a yellow dress and a tough attitude that matched Harlocke's, she would approach the crew. Showing gratitude for them giving the time to help, she would look on in confusion and then refer to Sera, Komei and himself as children. Eloy sighed to himself a bit and looked to the side, feeling a little uncomfortable. Quite honestly, he was use to this at this point but it was still a little unnerving that this was the way in which this mission officially started. Them being berated for being young.

Their entry to the town was less than dramatic. It felt like it was just out of some cowboy town, with a lack of presence anywhere. True, there seemed to be a few people here and there, but there was barely any sight of security. It left Komei to wonder what sort of thing has happened here. Was there a raid that took out every single security they had? Or was it that the town had no money to even hire it? He understood Marines were supposed to be there to protect people, but even then surely they should have some sort of Marine presence here before them.

Yet clearly, that was not the case. All they had was a deserted town with barely enough people. Maybe that was why the captain invited the youngest of the crew. Compared to their older counterpart, they would provide less of an issue, especially if some of the division members could be corrupted. Maybe it was just her playing it safe.

The young tactician looked at the sudden appearance of yet another woman. This one no doubt was the leader of the town, seeing as how she was carrying herself. The words of the previous civilian made him curious. Something, or maybe someone, was scaring her. He could already infer that was the reason why he is now here. But that left with the who.

He was engrossed in his thoughts that he did not even catch the words of the woman. Besides, Komei has always been belittled due to his age, thus he was unaffected by such words. Being called a kid was always easy to get out of, since it would create a sense of false security to their enemies.

" Seeing your current situation, kids would actually give you a better situation than what you are in now. Clearly you don't even have any security at all, unless you call your secretary hiding behind her desk security."

The white haired kid stated clearly as he looked to the woman, unafraid to speak his mind. True, he was the newest addition to this division, but to be called a kid would only lower the morale of the others. He has always been straightforward with his mind ever since he learnt how to talk.

The town’s mayor seemed to be still very concerned despite the facts that Komei presented, gripping her chin as she thought about her predicament. The captain took a moment to speak up for the fidelity of her underlings because she personally knew of their capabilities. “Mayor Whitley, I assure you I wouldn’t bring a group of marines to your aid if I wasn’t certain they were capable. These four have the greatest teamwork amongst many of my troops.” She stood firm saying that.

It was reassuring hearing something so genuine about their group for once, and Sera tried to exact the captain’s pose as she stood as tall as she could.

“What about that one?” The mayor asked, pointing at Luwhinge who was currently playing aloof, with his arms crossed and looking away from the conversation. The captain shared some concerns for him too but remembered that last time Sera seemed to handle him fairly well.

Sera looked back at him, having honestly forgotten he was behind them. “Lou, when did you get here?” He only frowned, and looked her in the eyes. “Keep up girlie, I’ve been ‘ere the whole time.” They instantly got into another staring match before the captain cleared her throat queuing them to stand at attention.

“Trust me.” the captain reiterated. Looking down at the other two who could manage themselves she gave them a direct order. “Eloy, Komei, there’s a train station five blocks south of this location. The two of you will scout it out ahead of time, make sure no one else is there. Pronto. We will rendezvous with you in two minutes.”

The redhead looked at the two of them, concerned. The captain hadn’t mentioned trains before now. Were they brought along to escort this woman on a train? Just who were they expecting to face?

Eloy had a hard time identifying his feelings which is why he remained silent (most of the time). That being said, he was in no way inarticulate. Still, Komei's decision to speak his mind was refreshing. He was the newest member and not a lot was known about him. However, the way in which someone chooses their words gives testament to their character. He eyed him a bit and smirked, wondering if Harlocke would express annoyance towards him. The exact opposite would happen. Harlocke would speak highly of the crew. Although it was somewhat a first, it was nice to hear a compliment from their captain. Mayor Whitley would then turn her attention towards Lou and ask about him.

Confused, Eloy looked behind himself as well. He wasn't quite sure who the guy actually was, but he seemed to respond to Sera when she spoke to him. Leading him to believe that he was somehow affiliated with her. Maybe he was her bodyguard perhaps? Nonsense, Eloy knew that Sera was more then capable of handling her own, he seen it. Sera and Lou would exchange some words before Harlocke interrupted them, wanting to reassure the mayor that she had nothing to worry about. Harlocke would then speak out towards himself and Komei. Ordering them to head five blocks down to the train station and make sure that no one else was there. They would then rendezvous with them shortly thereafter.

A train station? Just how big was this island? Eloy didn't like being separated from any of his crew-mates but his feelings would have to be set aside, getting this mission done in the smoothest way possible was the only thing that was on his mind. He nodded at Harlocke.

"Right away."

He would walk towards the entrance of the building and exit it. He waited on the sidewalk for Komei to catch up, assuming he wasn't outside before he was.
