"I wouldn't let you carry me even if you tried! But if you did try, I'll have you know that I'm very light. Not that you should ask a lady her weight!" Yvette wasn't light. If anything, with her numerous metal components, she was actually quite a bit heavier than most of her stature. Heavier than some fully-grown adults, even. Not that she would let anyone pick her up so disrespectfully. She was way too mature for something like that! She wasn't just some little kid! Well, she was, but that wasn't the point! "What do you even want this treasure for?" Their conversation was mostly shouting with the distance Yvette kept, which may not have been ideal given the soft-spoken nature of the man she had named her new henchman. But keeping behind him saved her a lot of work in taking out those who would have stood in her way. Exactly what a henchman was supposed to do! |

Morose Morose Battle Ambience Port Town "I am Morose," Morose replied simply to Kidd as they walked after the old man he strolled ahead of them. As they walked, it felt like they were going up a steady incline though it was not steep enough to call for stairs. Morose found himself breathing harder without an obvious cause. There was a lack of moving air in the tunnels for the moment causing the air to feel and taste stagnant and musty. Morose watched carefully ahead and to either side as they passed every tunnel that branched off. His alertness paid off. "There! Get them!" Called the voice of a marine at the head of his squad. He was pointing at them as his squad rushed toward them from an adjoining hall. "Hurry up, old man!" Morose said through his teeth, clearly holding back some inner monologue of a negative sort. The old man chuckled in reply. "This way..." He whispered to them before ducking suddenly into a tunnel to the right and running much faster than his age would suggest he was capable of. He then made a sudden left. Once Kidd was through, should Kidd decide to keep up, the old man pulled on a rope that released a catch, dropping a thick wooden beam over the tunnel which then collapsed in a dusty, nerve-wrecking heap. Morose moved out of the cloud with his cloak over his mouth. Half his face was dusted and he still coughed some, but he was alive. "Not much farther now. Come." Said the old man, taking the lead once again. Morose glared at the man but followed quietly. Reaching a dead end in the dark, the man slowly raised a trap door to reveal a view of a plaza with a fountain before the large building at the top of the hill. The grounds were swarming with pirates with a pile of loot piled up in the center. Morose immediately left the cover of the hole to find he was in a guard's building stationed at the edge of the plaza. No guard occupied it now. Plaza battle music

"Our purpose for seeking the treasure is none of your concern. Merely focus on doing your part and staying alive if you want a claim to it." He responded curtly to the girl's inquiry, Morose better knew the reason they needed this treasure than he did and really the strange child had no business prying. It wasn't long before they reached the center plaza where a heaping pile of loot was being assembled. Somewhere around here would be Kale, but Salas couldn't see the pirate from where he was. What he did see was that a lot of the pirates in the square noticed him and leveled guns against The Shaman. That never leads to anything good. He had to do something about that before anything else. He shielded himself with his moss limbs before rushing at the group of pirates. They opened fire. Salas really didn't know what he expected to happen, the sinuous moss did little to protect him, merely serving to slow the bullets down as they pierced various parts of his body. He really should have been surprised that nobody had managed to shoot him before now but at least these men wouldn't have the chance to do so again as they had the life stripped from them by his spores and his bare hands. Morose? An odd name, although Kid wasn’t exactly one to talk. He wasn’t sure why, but it sounded familiar somehow, as if it was actually a word… He wracked his brain trying to think if he’d read it in the dictionary when teaching Katie, although soon realised they hadn’t got to M, and there weren’t many important words around that letter anyway. In his daze of confusion, he didn’t notice the group running off, and yelped slightly when he finally noticed. Thankfully it didn’t take too long to catch up, and just in time too as the miner man decided to pull a piece of rope, causing a literal cave in, rocks falling down and nearly crushing the poor teen. They didn’t, but they could have. Coughing heavily at the dust, he blinked a few times to try and clear his eyes, only then to remember that he didn’t even have normal eyes that dirt could bother. He shrugged slightly due to his habit, and followed Morose to the end of the tunnel, where they were revealed a plaza of sorts, a battle in the midst. Following his newfound ally out of the tunnels, the two soon found themselves in a small building of sorts, nobody about but the constant sounds of battle present outside. Kid moved over to the window, crouching down slightly and inspecting the fight. Many marines and pirates were firing guns and striking each other with swords, a minimal amount of people actually doing anything “interesting” per say though, excluding… One man. He seemed a tier above the rest, with some weird plant like powers or something, which looked odd. People were falling around him as he walked, but suddenly the teen shifted his eyes, as they widened in horror. No way, this couldn’t be real… “We’ve got some… Uh… Unique people out there” Kid stammered at Morose, wondering what the blond thought about the whole situation. It was hard to read him, but the inventor had a feeling that this was a person used to the scene of battle, or at least to some degree. Maybe it was his currently calmness and willingness to just get on with things, as shown with his lack of concern about dying. Not wanting to throw himself out in the open or hinder his ally at all, he stayed put and watched through the window, eying the two he’d spotted with uncertainty. |

The petite girl pouted a little. "Geez, fine, be like that then. See if I care!" She didn't. She was just trying to get a reaction out of him, really. He was so dry and toneless, it was mind-numbingly boring talking to him! She couldn't tease him, or even seem to annoy him! Perhaps she just had yet to crack his tough shell. Maybe he was really tsundere? It would be easy to manipulate him if he showed an ounce of kindness towards her, which most did considering her appearance, but he didn't seem to care! "So where's that treasure anywa..." The girl's voice trailed off, her sights immediately set on the pile of treasure in the middle of the plaza, impossible to miss really. A huge heap of glittering gold, shining jewels and ornate weapons, right out there in the open... just begging for someone to take it all! "Ah. First come first served!"[/crimson] Without skipping a beat Yvette darted forward, quite lithe considering her heavy metal frame. But her path was not straight towards the treasure, instead skipping around the edge of the plaza to search for the route in with the least resistance. She ran into a group of pirates on her way, hesitating their fire for just a moment - just long enough for her to chuck a bomb their way, and swiftly clean them out! |

Morose Morose Battle Ambience Port Town Plaza battle music Morose's cool exterior cracked as he immediately about-faced and crouched down in a ball. His eyes wide, his mouth worked wordlessly for the most part except for the occasional, "****...********...*****************...***.****...****" Otherwise, the youth had very little to contribute as bombs started going off within the plaza and men moved around with much more energy. The fighting up the hill had been such that the plaza had been largely safe. This was no longer the case, as Salas and Yvette brought the fight to them moments before Kid and Morose made their move. While some men who exhausted their rifles took the time to reload them, most dropped the guns after use and rushed forward with sabers or explosives of their own to combat the pair blitzing the plaza. Morose's eyes shifted back and forth repeatedly at each new sound as he cowered in the guard shack. His eyes moved to Kid after a while where his gaze stayed for a moment before Morose's stream of curses ended with a heavy sigh. He was frustrated and his hands trembled a bit as he forcefully steadied them. Standing and looking out a window, Morose gestured to Salas. "He's Salas and he is the leader of my crew. I told him to stay back to avoid something like this, but after watching him take bullets and keep going, I'm sure he's nearing his berserk state and will not be safe to be around. I'll try to handle him so he doesn't inadvertantly kill us all. You seem like a strong guy. You could probably get away with loading up one of those chests with quite a bit of gold. We're gonna die either way, but it would seem like a rush for the loot while the pirates seem distracted would be the right thing to do. We can use the tunnels to make our escape rather than going through the gauntlet heading down...." "I wouldn say that, sonny. I didn bring you and 'im up here without reasons of me own. You gonna take out the pirate captain Kale and I'll help you get away with all the loot you want. He'll be in the buildn there.." The old man interrupted, sticking his head out of the dirt to correct Morose and Kid. He then pointed a dirty, gnarled finger at the large building overlooking the plaza. Morose could make out the movement of shadows within to suggest it was occupied by more people, likely pirates. "****" Morose cursed again before steeling himself for the coming moments. The plaza was in a state of panic and Morose seized the moment to dash out into the open, a black cloaked blur of motion as he appeared before Salas out of the range of the spore clung that hung around the shaman. The bodies of several pirates that got to close littered the ground around him. "I think you've done enough for one day, captain. It would be best if you went back to the ship now before you hurt anyone else. Last thing I need is to get some putrid, plant claw stuck in my back when you randomly turn feral." Morose suggested. His face much more composed than his knees, but the cloak hid most of that. The chef held one of his more expensive kitchen knives in hand while the other reached into his cloak and pulled out a bun he proceeded to stuff in his mouth before withdrawing the hand to the inside of his cloak. Salasais was surprised to see Morose appear in front of him and tell him to go back to the ship before it was too late, though in truth it was likely too late already. Still, he hesitated a moment and the moss limbs sprouting from his shoulders shuddered as if struggling to maintain their form. With one hand clutching at his head and the other reaching for his ritual knife, he attempted to cut himself to force himself under control but as he moved to do so the faltering growths sprang to life and wrested the knife out of his grasp, knocking it to the ground where it slid several feet away. Apparently the parasite from which the Shaman derived his abilities saw Morose's positive influence on its host as a threat and seized control of Salas a lot more aggressively than it had in the past, violently resisting his inhibition. He fell almost to his knees with his human arms hanging limp as the moss limbs supported his weight while their color darkened to a reddish hue. When he picked himself up again, he had clearly turned as his eyes looked wild and locked onto the young chef. "Morose feeds Our Shaman's resistance to Us. When he is gone We will be one..." With the flagrant malicious intent broadcast to those around him, Salasais leaped toward Morose, the properties of the spores around him changed with the knowledge that his crewmate wouldn't fall so easily to his deadly spores and instead working to hurt his ability to fight back by dulling his senses. He would also attempt to swat him with a moss arm. Active Techs

It appeared Morose wasn’t too happy about what he was seeing, which became apparent when he explained to Kid that in fact one of the men out there was called Salas, who still apparently had even more dangerous powers to show. His ability worried the teen a little bit, after all whatever it was it could spread through the air, and although made of metal, he still needed to breathe himself. Noting the compliment, he managed to nod in thanks before the old man pointed out that they’d need to take out the captain first. Nodding slightly, he said: “There’s, erm, only one type of treasure I’m particularly uh interested in, the rest is just a… bonus anyway…” Before he could say much more, Morose was out of the door and in front of the dangerous foe, readying what appeared to be knives whilst trying to talk him down. Still unsure, Kid rushed out of the door anyway, reaching into his pocket and finding a small solid object. Taking a deep breath, he retrieved it and threw it straight towards the previously mentioned window, watched as it shattered the remaining glass and a moment later covering the inner walls and window in a dark brown substance, steaming with heat. He had no clue if that was wise, but he had other issues to attend to… “Yvette…” He muttered to himself. Sure, he wasn’t one to hold grudges, but she’d made life a whole lot more difficult after the job she’d roped them into on Mirrorball, and… Well he supposed there wasn’t a “them” anymore. Reaching now into his backpack, he retrieved a rather large blue coloured thingy, which was actually a gummy bear. Throwing it full pelt, he aimed to strike down the supervillain with it, hoping to catch her unaware. As it flew through the air, he watched as it grew in size, till he remembered that in fact it was intended to grow to the size of a small child… Like her. This would be fun. |

Morose Morose Battle Ambience Port Town Plaza battle music Combat Brain Food Buns Morose blinked out of sight at Salas's approach. The spore cloud was not allowed to get close to him. Morose's eyes and feet moved like lightning, fueled by his brain bun. He appeared again by a pirate taking aim at Yvette and her bombing spree. Right before the pirate pulled the trigger, Morose nudged the gun so the barrel pointed at Salas and *BANG*. The pirate cursed and swung at Morose. Morose cursed and blinked out of sight again, the pirate's fist swinging at nothing but air. tech Morose appeared by another pirate and redirected his arm at the last moment so the pistol went off at Salas as well. While traditionally, the pirates' aim would have been fair, with Morose's forceful council, they were aimed to kill. Morose didn't immediately blink away from this pirate, however, and simply backed away from him to keep the pirates between him and Salas buying Morose precious moments. Just then, a pirate of some authority appeared from the large building at the head of the plaza and showered the entire plaza and surrounding buildings in sticky net made of some sort of webbing. The pirates immediately recognized the stuff and those that could dove for cover. Those that could not evade the stuff were stuck momentarily in the webbing. Morose narrowly evaded by straightening up and standing in between the strands as they fell to the ground. The loot at the center of the plaza as well as the building behind the devil fruit user was covered in web and preventing access to either without first clearing the stick substance. Morose cursed audibly a few more times and looked grumpy. He sliced at some webbing nearby. His blades could cut it, but if he wasn't careful, his knives would get stuck and ripped from his grasp. Several of the pirates attempted the same and struggled greatly with the stuff. Those that were still free had to choose between helping comrades and focusing on the interlopers. |

Salas was out of control, he could only hope that his confidence that Morose could survive wasn't in vain. For what it was worth, the trust seemed to be well-placed as the youth sped about to keep at a safe distance and forced other pirates nearby to fire at the mad shaman. The new bullet wounds only served to make him more upset, charging at the other pirates to destroy them for hurting him. Things were disrupted somewhat by the introduction of the snaring web across the battlefield. In his berserk state, he hadn't done anything to avoid it, but as soon as he felt himself become stuck there was a change in the spores he produced and the webbing began to break down as it was consumed by the acidic cloud. He was freed quickly and resumed his pursuit of the chef with full ferocity, webbing melting away around him. He charged in and made to clutch at Morose with his reddened moss limbs. Instinct supposed that all that would be required to end the boy would be to establish a hold, then nature would handle the rest. Active Techs

Kid wasn’t sure if the attack hit, as suddenly he came under gunfire. Whatever his gummy bear hit, it had bounced back to him, already shrinking in size. Quickly he reached out, catching the weapon with a thwap sound as it struck his palm. As he did so, he began putting it in his pack, looking up to notice a blanket net slowly engulfing the battlefield. He frowned slightly, moving his body as to avoid being caught, slipping through as one or two others did, however now slightly aggravated by the inconvenience of moving. Looking around, he noticed many people tearing out of their nets, struggling a little, the gunfire having gone quiet as every fought to break free. With this time, he reached into his pocket and retrieved another one of his grenades, this one a little bit on the cooler side. Readying it in his hand, he looked over towards some nearby pirates, soon noticing they weren’t even able to escape their nets. Smiling slightly, he unscrewed the cap to his weapon, and allowed a small puff of steam to emerge. After a few seconds he took a sip of the liquid within the grenade, sighing slightly at the refreshingness of the milkshake. Despite being slightly more chilled right now, he kept himself active, allowing his eyes to dart around the battlefield, constantly back to where he’d last seen Yvette. Maybe he was being blind, but he wasn’t currently seeing her and that worried him. The wall was damaged though, which suggested either her, another person, or his gummy bear had struck it… But she was dangerous, he couldn’t let her just walk around here, especially with how easy a picking he’d make with his guard down. Sure he was a cyborg, but she knew him, and that meant she would have a weakness to exploit. Damn child villain girl. |

Morose Morose Battle Ambience Port Town Plaza battle music Combat Brain Food Buns Morose did not seem to give much attention or pity to the men he just used as Salas bulldozed through them, his spores devouring them as he went. Morose's attention seemed squarely on his weapons and placing his feet properly so as to avoid the web net covering the plaza. Stepping on it would likely be as bad as getting covered in the stuff as some nearby pirates illustrated. It was clear the crew wished to settle the issue in the plaza as soon as possible since the battle with the rest of the town was still proceeding. Several pirates were coming back from the front to find comrades in various situations. It seemed they were coming back to restock, to rest, or to swap shifts. Whatever the case, the chaos in the plaza was putting a wrench in the works and soon the front line would falter. Pirates dashed about ripping into ammo crates. Morose noticed these things and moved over to a pirate grabbing supplies. Morose plucked out a small grenade type bomb. Using a flintlock at hand, Morose lit the fuse and tossed the bomb back into the box with all the other weapons and ammunition. tech The boy had suddenly vanished from view as Salas's spore arm swung through the place he had been. The box then exploded sending metal and wood scraps hurdling through the air. It was flashy and very dangerous to the men who happened to be nearby. Morose appeared several men and a good chunk of the plaza away. He seemed bitter about something but mainly craned his neck to look with the others at the spectacle. If bombs weren't enough and bullets already proved semi-futile, Morose would have to resort to something else. He looked hard at the knives in his hands. |

Morose was as slippery as one could expect, avoiding damage and rigging a crate of munitions to explode. As the moss arm reached to grab where the chef had been, the explosion incinerated the extra limb and blasted wood and metal all throughout the area, leaving chunks of material embedded in various parts of Salas' body as he was thrown back. Upon landing, it could be clearly seen that he was not responding well to the new injuries as he coughed up blood and his body was visibly quaking. Then a bone was grabbed by the remaining moss arm, "No! We are not finished!" He jammed the crude needle into his leg and the extremely potent mixture of poisons and stimulants removed all awareness of pain and fatigue, forcing Salas' body to fight well beyond its normal limits, betting on the few moments it would give to eliminate its chosen prey! With an almost inhuman howl, The Shaman's body surged forward as if nothing had happened and rushed in to relentlessly pursue Morose with full killing intent, clawing and grasping at the chef without any regard for personal safety. Morose Morose Battle Ambience Port Town Plaza battle music Combat Brain Food Buns Pirates to the left and right of Morose cleared out or were bulldozed by the coming Salas. Morose moved with inhuman speed as well, his brain buns still in effect. HIs cloak was opened wide and thrown behind him to reveal his sparkling pants and light colored button up. The shirt clung in places where the boy had begun to sweat. It was not an overly hot day, but circumstances appeared dire. His hands held a kitchen knife in each hand. His pales hands became all the more white while they tightly squeezed the handles of the weapons. "I've tried reason..." Morose's face became overcast and grim. "I've tried guns..." The chef's knives began to radiate and change somehow on an imperceptible level. "I even tried explosives..." Morose grinned briefly but it didn't touch his eyes. "Not sure what else to do..." The knives in Morose's hands began to give off faint black tendrils that wisped off the blades and disappeared in the air. "...except this one last thing. Otherwise, I may have to kill you friend..." Salas was on Morose, the spore cloud immediately attacking the boy's skin and clothes and weapons. Like a burn, his skin began to redden as the outer layers were being ate away. One of his knives vaporized into black mist as it was devoured right out of his hand. "...but who am I kidding, I'm dead already..." Morose stabbed abruptly as soon as Salas's appendages were within range. Morose's knife would connect with the fungal appendage that snatched him, the dark tendrils dissipating to flow into the appendage that connected with the knife. Morose poured all his killing intent into the single strike meant to go straight to the core of the target. Now the question was whether the core of the beast was the parasite or the shaman. Meanwhile, Morose was getting manhandled. tech

Kid looked up towards the building which a man stood from, the one that had dropped the web. There was a good chance that he hadn’t made that web through natural means, which led him to believe that this man was probably a bit of a danger. Speaking of which, he glanced over just in time to see an explosion, one which the man Morose had mentioned before was caught up in. For a moment, it looked like the attack had worked, before he moved forwards again after the overly negative man. Weird… Usually that sort of thought would be referring to himself. Taking another sip of his drink, the teen reached towards his side, grabbing his candy whip and walking forwards slowly towards the devil fruit user. He had no idea that he was a fruit user, or what a fruit really was, but he knew he had some sort of power and so he was getting ready to fight. Taking another sip and wincing slightly at the near brain freeze he got, he picked up his pace, cracking his weapon towards the opponent’s foot in an attempt to catch his attention. It didn’t seem to bother the man too much, but suddenly Kid noticed a web flying towards him. Unable to dodge in time, his legs and torso were suddenly wrapped up in webbing. The teen growled slightly, downing his drink finally and throwing the case aside. “Ow ow ow” The boy complained, a full on brain freeze kicking in. He ran his tongue across the roof of his mouth to try and warm it up and cancel the headache, practically ignoring the web still, until another struck him and threw him to the floor, trapping him against the ground. He cursed slightly, watching as the zoan man slowly made his way down from the building towards the cyborg. Kid sighed slightly, reaching into his pocket and revealing his third grenade, this one working similarly to the first. Pressing a button, the weapon detonated, burning the web and causing it to break due to the moisture and heat, chocolate bursting out and coating the teen and the opponent in burning chocolate, suddenly chocolate chips flying out and striking nearby pirates, including the zoan who was flung backwards, holding his face in pain, his body burning too. |
