  • Marksman - Primary: The profession of Marksman provides sound experience and insight in calculating range, distance and wind elements and their impact on the path of a projectile. It is a general trait that applies to guns, slingshots, cannons, rifles and the like. People without this profession will have little to no luck in firing cannonballs where they are supposed to go under normal battle conditions. Characters with this profession have access to certain additional traits and their range techniques will have the effect costs of the tier below with short range being free.

  • Martial Artist - Secondary: A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body.

  • Though a Rear Admiral, Eve still usually wears the standard sleeveless uniform of most Marines, under the trademark longcoat with appropriate epaulets.
  • Since being gifted the Tesla String from Vice Admirals Comet and Vincent, Eve has woven it into a brown, full-length leather armguard that she wears on her left side. The rest is built into her rifle.
  • As a markswoman, Eve requires plenty of bullets. She wears a pair of brown leather bandoleers across her chest housing countless rounds.
  • A Woman’s League badge is pinned to her belt.
  • In place of the standard Marine neckerchief, she wears her own patterned, turquoise bandanna.
  • A small number of piercings decorate her ears: two simple studs in her right and a small ring in her left lobe.


General Appearance:
A skinny, lean, flat-chested young woman with a rebellious, confident glint in her eye. Eve stands at a fairly average height and is not particularly bulky either but she does have some defined muscle in her arms and chest. She has also recently put on a little extra height and weight as her strength improves. Her torso is a little short in proportion to her legs. Her hair is predominantly black, except for some electric-blue tips that hang in a fringe just above the eyes. Though normally kept relatively short, Eve has recently begun growing a tightly woven braid that reaches to the base of her neck. Her face is a bit rough with sharp cheekbones, a fairly pronounced jaw for her gender and a collection of very minor scars. Green eyes are set in slender, thin sockets under thick brows. She does not wear makeup.

The Character




Personality:

A long time ago, when Eve was still a fresh-faced Marine who had barely set foot in the world's oceans, she could perhaps be viewed as someone with a somewhat dull future. She was laidback and ambitionless, caring only for the little comforts so many other laymen worked for. The life of an enlisted soldier of the World Government was largely just an excuse to travel around at someone else's expense and on someone else's boat, while getting booze money for her efforts. There had always been an element of danger throughout Eve's upbringing and she continued to embrace it as freely and as carelessly upon becoming an adult. She was neither malicious nor resentful; the people, and sometimes animals, she faced were simply those who had walked a different path and though she would follow her orders and fight, rarely would she ever hold a grudge or actively dislike someone that entered the sights of her rifle. Fun, adventure and alcohol were the names of the game back then and the only thing to hold her back was fleeting moments of self-doubt in her own capabilities.

Time and experience have a habit of changing people, however. Starting perhaps in Goa, during a pirate invasion, a small seed of patriotism was planted in Eve's being, a seed that has started to grow ever so slowly while drinking the waters of the Grandline. Increasingly Eve looks up to Marine HQ, the World Government and the Gorosei not just as employers and the means to her next paycheck, but as the rightful rulers of the world, both physically and ideologically. Pirates - once largely nothing more than men and women simply seeking freedom and adventure - now come in two flavors: the mistaken, and the monsters. The former she is willing to go somewhat easy on and in some cases even let go free; the sort of people who have simply made bad life choices, but who don't truly wish ill will on others. The latter, those would see thousands die for a beli a piece, or worse, on a whim, ignite in her a deep fury and passionate resolve to see them punished accordingly, or otherwise ground to nothing.

Indeed, Eve is famous for her temper in some circles. She is easily frustrated and set alight and has gone on more than one rampage before. Even allies might be in for a good wallop if they deliberately get on her heckles too much, though her wrath isn't so unrestrained that she would ever properly harm a friend or someone she did not feel was especially guilty. The word 'Justice' resonates with Eve and with every new challenge she overcomes and with every new rank she scrabbles to attain, she wears that coat with a little more pride. To protect the innocent, to guard the weak; these are the tenants Eve lives and fights by.

With this blooming sense of duty however, has come the crushing weight of responsibility. Eve biggest fault outside her vices is her own self-doubt and insecurity. She was never unique in having to occasionally wrestle with demons whispering torments in her ears, but since being promoted and, more noticeably, since finding and consuming the Goro Goro no Mi, she now constantly feels a need to prove her own physical strength and prowess. She hates the idea of being seen as nothing more than her fruit, as being weak without its powers. Though she is slowly starting to accept them, she still generally prefers to rely on them more as a source of support in combat rather than as her main offensive weapon.

In a more concise nutshell, Eve is a driven and dutiful soldier, one dedicated to being a shield against humanity's own dark depths. She still enjoys the games of her younger self, that of drinking, partying and lazy afternoons after a good day's work, but such days hide a will of tempered steel. Every armor has its chinks, however, and Eve holds something of an inferiority complex that drives her to constantly push herself harder and define herself as an individual that holds and controls the power of a Devil, rather than being a paper-thin mask to it.




History:

Born and raised on the simple island of Ketsuraku, Eve and her parents did not live in Tellwin, or any of the other villages. Rather, her folks owned a cabin on the outskirts of the major rice fields from which they hunted the local wildlife, providing a bit of meat to go with the excessive amount of rice on offer. From a young age, little Eve showed a disposition to her father’s work, and she was often taken out with him during his hunts. There, she learned how to handle a firearm, navigate the wild, track, hide from unsuspecting prey, as well as how to find her way around ropes. It was a happy lifestyle, one Eve was perfectly content to follow through into adulthood.

Her humble, static aspirations were not to last however. During one of their monthly trips to the Tellwin market, a cry of “Thief!” stilled the crowd. While everyone else stood in shock, a masked man tore through the streets, a small bag of jewelry under his arm. Rather than stand idly by in confusion, Eve quickly understood the situation and took off in pursuit, just as she had countless times before while chasing fleeing animals. Rather than follow him step-for-step, Eve calculated, checked distances, monitored buildings in the distance. She dived between houses and through gardens, her assumptions of openings and passageways correct every time, before finally bursting out into the street once more, right on top of the fleeing criminal. The force of the impact sent them both to the floor, but with the advantage of surprise on her side, Eve was successfully able to wrap her legs around the crook’s neck and force him into a triangle chokehold. He may have had the advantage in weight, size and strength, but with a pair of flexible legs choking the air out of him, his struggles went largely in vain, and Eve was able to hold him down until help finally arrived. As spoils, she took the criminal’s bandanna, which she wears to this day so as to remind her of the incredible thrill she had felt while chasing her first human capture.

Things were to change again with the accident that scars Ketsuraku to this day. Eve’s father, like most of the island’s male population, was lost in an obscure accident that she and the rest of the women refuse to talk about. After this tragic incident, Eve took on hunting duties full time and eventually joined the Woman’s League to help protect the island from the odd pirate or bandit attack. Her life might have continued as it had, but Eve’s active role in defending her home from those beyond the shores and the stories she heard from her fellow volunteers in the League caused her mind to wander. She began to crave adventure, to explore the world and seek out new prey. She considered becoming a bounty hunter, but her mother and fellows in the Woman’s League suggested the Marines instead; indeed, Eve realized she enjoyed having a little structure and discipline and wasn’t particularly interested in monetary rewards anyway. Both choices had advantages and disadvantages, so Eve decided to begin her journey instead without making it.

She traveled around North Blue, seeing what life on the high seas was like and observing Marines and bounty hunters in action. During her voyages, she first heard of the famous “White Hunter.” Curious, she investigated further and read up on this figure which soon lead to him being placed in the position of her idol and inspiration. Her adventures finally brought her to Osula City, where, after a great deal of meditation and thought, opted to join the Marines. She joined the local academy and after several years of training graduated in the top half of her class. She returned home to Ketsuraku for a few months to say her proper goodbyes before being shipped out into active duty.

Combat:
In battle, Eve primarily uses firearms and could be defined as something akin to a short to medium ranged brawler. She very rarely takes up the role of a long range, concealed sniper and tends to engage her targets head on, but while keeping a healthy and safe distance where she can make full use of her potent marksmanship and Devil Fruit abilities. In the event that an opponent does close the distance - and is actually capable of ignoring her Logia defense - Eve has numerous tricks she can employ to recreate that gap; from her own lightning speed and mobility to forceful attacks that can send foes flying. As a last resort, Eve is still a fairly decent hand-to-hand fighter. Despite not being a dedicated martial artist and lacking the refined techniques of one, her raw strength combined with the speed of her Devil Fruit means she is not to be underestimated, even when unarmed.

So I do believe (and hope) that I'm good for a revision scoop on this character. Here's a list of stuff to help mods!

  • Swapping Weapon Specialist for Martial Artist. Doesn't really effect anything at the moment, except the Point Blank techniques. Previously I was told was back that I'd need both marksman and weapon specialist for them, because it utilized a bayonet. I don't know if bayonet use would still come under that, but for now I've removed it from the weapon to simply things.

  • Personality and history have been reworded slightly. Same content and story, just phrased better.

  • Beli is hard. Specifically, I'm not 100% how contest beli fits in to it. I think I've got it roughly right, but double checking will be needed for sure.

  • Pricing. Virtually everything is going to need repriced;
    • Quicksilver has been changed ever so slightly. Bumped up the ammo capacity to 20 and removed bayonet.
    • Tesla Guard requires its technique pricing, but the material should be covered by the Tesla String
    • Ship has had some changes and will need pricing under the new ship rules
    • Baby Den Den is unchanged but I figure I'll leave it for pricing anyway, just in case.
    • The Tesla String, easily the most controversial item Eve has, I'm sure. This was an ME reward, so aside from the armour tech as part of the Guard, it shouldn't have any pricing associated with it. I'm hoping I can keep it, but given new item rules it might require changing?


  • Techniques. I want to apply free DF effect to rifle techniques. From a conversation in WC, apparently this sort of stacking is okay so long as it makes sense in character and context. I believe in this case, it does. Happy to discuss, however.

Starting off with Beli, 68 SD won't be counted in the Standardization. (I can break down my contest SD math if you'd like.) That leaves 283 SD to be standardized. (500,000 + [50*250,000] + [233*500,000]) = 500,000 + 12,500,000 + 116,500,000. This leaves you with a Standardized beli count of 129,500,000. Adding in contest beli after that (2.5M+ 1M+ 8M + 4.5M +1M +3M + 7M + 3M + 1M+ 6.6M for 6th anniversary) Note: I deserve a cookie for that.

[129,500,000 + 37,600,000] = 167,100,000

I wanted to post this down because I'd been working on it. I will stop back in shortly to troubleshoot/review the rest of Eve, but at the moment i have errands. Toodles.
Also, I didnt want to get it swiped after going through the standardization work...

Beli is a straight conversion based entirely on SD, with different values for contests being phased out. 1 step, wow, such ease, much uniformity.

I was the poor soul asked to look at this :') Sorry it took awhile.

  1. Stat Points: Nothing major, it should be 0 (1/3)

  2. Goro Goro no Mi: Probably not necessary, just put down fully "Super-Speed on DF Techniques for free" for Free Effects.

  3. Unless I totally missed it, I need a copy and paste of Eve V1 sources copied and pasted under your Previous Gains. Then I can run a total SD check.

  4. And now we get to your favorite part: Techniques. Did a sanity check and your numbers appear to check out (wow outdated tool, you're so useful. Unfortunately, the only time I have to update it fully is during Spring Break). General Effect being used is a free Lightning Elemental Damage along with Super-Speed. Okay, seems valid (and broken).

  5. Point Blank: When we talk about "Point Blank", it's typically a melee range I-don't-give-a-shit-about-range attack. This seems valid with just Marksman.

  6. Static Field: We're walking into iffy territory with the addition of Tesla String to what already seems to be a Short AoE effect. Unless I'm mistaken and without Tesla String, it's a Melee AoE? It sounds like it needs clarification: Either clarify Melee AoE -OR- if you want it a natural Short AoE, remove the Tesla String.

  7. Now then pricing. This is gonna suck.
    - Quicksilver: 20M (Tier) + 3M (20 rounds) + 14M (R14 Electric capabilities) = 37M
    - Tesla Guard: 72M (R36)
    - Tesla String: M,E Reward. I guess it's valid, though pretty effing OP.
    - Magnetic Pole: SL Reward
    - Baby Den Den Mushi: 1.5M
    - The rest are SL Rewards
    - Ship: I'll hear back from Giga first.
    TEMP TOTAL: 110.5M
I think that's all I see...pretty clean app so far.
I'm going to be less active as of 9/25/17. Kinda hitting a point where I'm contemplating why I'm here while having a full-time job.

4) You may have noticed I'm slightly betraying my own principles with this character and going for maximum bork.

Should have pointed this out earlier, but I have also bumped up her age by one and also upped her height and weight a little, just to sort of represent her getting a bit buffer. Will change back if its an issue, however.

Construct Techs need to have their base duration noted, following standard buff tables.

Sorry, but Tesla String is due for nerfarino, Darko went a bit crazy with those rewards anyways. Main issue is quantity, so let's say it keeps all the properties, but you only get to put it on one item at a time.

Rest seems fine.

That's fair. I sort of foresaw this day the moment I received it. Now only applies to the armguard, and changed the description to make it clear it can only effect one item/limb
