*Merchant- Primary: Merchants are fairly charismatic people who are skilled in both bargaining and selling things to others. Their expertise means that they are very knowledgeable of the economy, and deal with all manner of merchandise. Additionally, they they tend to be well-connected in trading circles. Merchants can get a 15% discount on any purchases they make, no matter what the item, for themselves. Additionally, a merchant may purchase any item that is available to be purchased, regardless of the normal requirements.
*Martial Artist – Secondary: A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body.

Hair: Chrys is a Jellyfish Fishman. This gives him…unique hair. His hair looks like jellyfish tentacles. They are light, nearly see through. The hair is brigher, almost like it is lit up by a light, near his skull and dulls the further it goes down. It is long, falling about midway down his back.
Eyes: Chrys has blue eyes which seem to have a light coming from them.
Clothing/Accessories:
Chrys is clad in a tandard issue Marine jacket, White with blue stripes on the arm underneath. Underneath the jacket, Chrys wears a white tanktop with the Marine logo over his heart. On his legs, a blue standard issue pants and around his neck is tied a blue neckerchief. Chrys wears specially made iron gauntlets. They have spikes on the knuckles and have open palms, allowing his fingertips and hands to still touch things. Chrys wears traditional wooden Geta shoes.
General Appearance: Chrys is extremely large compared to a human. He stands at six foot five and is bulky. His muscles are toned due to practicing fishmen karate his entire life. He has robust features, with a strong jawline and prominent cheekbones. His skin is a slightly translucent light blue, just enough to not see through him but that gives the vague impression of being able to. His fingers end in tendrils which look similar to his hair.

The Character

Personality: Chrys is a fishman which provides an interesting perspective on the world. He is very intelligent and capable of outthinking most people. His father was a Merchant, and he was taught how to be a merchant from his father. This has left him with the skills to make other people like him. He likes to smile, which tends to disarm others. He uses this to his advantage in order to make people like him more. It is all a part of his father's training. He isn’t greedy but his training as a merchant takes over whenever he buys items, which means he usually haggles for prices. Chrys has a strong sense of justice. He thinks that pirates destroy order and endanger the lives of other people. His morals have made him love the order and structure of the Marine life. He desires to protect people at all costs.

Hometown: Fishman Island, Red Line
History:

Chrys was born on Fishman island to two Fishman parents. His mother was an avid practitioner of Fishman Karate. Chrys’ life was pretty simple for the most part. His father was a merchant and they lived with him. Because of this, he has never known a stable home. He has also never known very many other Fishman. He left his home when he was five due to his dad deciding he wanted to be a merchant.

His mother and father did not like that he wanted to join the Marines. His father had been a pirate captain, prior to becoming a member of the merchant class. His mother had served on his crew. They always tried to convince him that Pirates were not dangerous. Chrys never bought it. While travelling as a merchant, they say many different Pirate crews do terrible acts. He saw murder, thievery, and rape. His parents merchant ship was even robbed by pirates on more than one occasion. He hated them. All the while, his parents just kept enforcing their carefree lifestyle. By that, it is meant that they are enforcing nothing. They just kept acting like none of it mattered. When Chrys was sixteen, he tried to join the Marines. They told him that he was too young and took him back to his parents. They were mad at him for the first time in his life. They screamed and told him how much they despised the marines and that he could not possibly become a marine.

“You cannot be a marine! They enforce rules that no one wants to follow and bully the people” They would say to him, with disregards as to the hypocrisy of their statement. They were enforcing a rule that he didn’t want to follow. This all changed one year later. He was seventeen and, legally, able to join the Marines with, or without, his parent’s permission. He joined up and has not seen or heard from his parents since. He has practiced the merchanting skills that his father taught him and continued to use his Fishman Karate skills that was taught by his mother, but if they wouldn’t accept his lifestyle then he didn’t want to talk to him. He had heard from his contacts in the merchanting circles that they are doing fine, so he wasn’t worried. It has been two years. He has risen through the ranks of the Marines relatively quickly, considering he is now a Chief Petty Officer. His strength and toxins from being a Fishman have helped his promotion chances; however, he has had to work hard to overcome discrimination against Fishman in the ranks of the marines. He still hasn't convinced everyone that he is a worthwhile marine but any who work with him for an extended period of time come to understand it.

Abilities and Possessions

Combat: Chrys has two main things he uses to fight. He uses his Fishman Karate, taught by his mother. He is a black belt in Fishman Karate. Fishman Karate utilizes powerful blows that affect the water inside of a person. His other main fighting ability is his toxin, associated with his type of Merman. Common effects of this toxin are Burning, prickling, stinging pain. Red, brown or purplish tracks on the skin.

Weaponry: One steel gauntlet, with an open palm. Chrys had these specially designed for his hands. They cover the side of the hand with the knuckles completely, like a regular pair of gauntlets. The difference is that they are open palm and fingers. This allows him to still utilize his toxins with the palms of his hands. There are straps to hold the gauntlets on his hands at his wrists and along the hands.

Iron Suit

A full suit of Iron Armor. This suit covers Chrysoara's entire body and provides protection to the Fishman. The suit has been created with traditional marine colors in mind. The metal itself has a slight blue hue to it and it has a white Justice Kanji on the back of the armor. These colors were put directly into the metal by adding certain materials during the forging process, rather than painted on. The gauntlets on the armor have an open palm, which allows for Chrysoara to use his toxins despite the suit of armor. This armor was found on Cactus Island in the village of Dour Top and gifted to Chrysoara for the respect he has shown the dead on the island. While Chrysoara was never entirely sure why they had marine colored armor, he accepted the gift. The gloves had to be altered to allow for them to be open palmed.

A personal, same sea, Den Den Mushi that Chrysoara wears attached to his wrist for professional communication.

Steel Handcuffs and Key
A pair of handcuffs crafted from steel.
Roth's BurdenEach participant will find a mysterious bracelet upon one of their wrists, designed to look like a human hand grasping onto the wearer. Upon further inspection, they will notice that it is in fact, locked onto them! This Bracelet is known as "Roth's Burden" and has been made to be completely unbreakable and tight enough to be irremovable. However, there are several different locks placed around it's surface...

Aqua Da Vida

Due to Chrys' market connections, he has been informed of a weapon that might peek his interest! The Aqua da vida, an iron quality weapon with a cutlass handle but a scimitar blade, has the ability to release water from it's handle via clenching the handle, to soak the blade. Once soaked, the waters "return life" to the blade, removing any rust or minor damage from it's blade component! After using this feature, which can only be used once at a time, the blade is required to be submerged in seawater for a small duration (1 Post) before it can be used again. This item is available to Chrys at a discount!

Fishman (2+ 1) - Fishmen gain the benefits of the Mighty Strength trait, and may breath underwater. Their movements in water are not hampered as greatly as normal humans, and they may swim at great speeds. Chrys is a Jellyfish Merman. This gives him access to natural painful toxins.

Fishman Karate Mastery (1 Trait) - The character has attained mastery in one specific weapon or form of attack that they have Martial Proficiency (can make techniques greater than rank 14) with. All techniques using this weapon or form of attack are always treated as being four ranks higher for purposes of calculating their technique rank benchmark, though their actual rank is not changed. This benefit ceases to apply for techniques higher than rank 28. This encompasses Punches, Palm Strikes, and Kicks.

Why is this a bad thing in his opinion? It would benefit the personality section if you explained this in terms of personality traits he has, as it isn't entirely clear.

A Fishman would find it harder than normal to progress through the ranks due to racial discrimination, so this should be reflected somewhat in the history section.

Does Chrys wear any footwear?

Denote your Speed as Speed: [total] (original + bonus) so it would read as

Speed: 9 (8+1)

The value is always rounded downwards.

You're better off waiting for a later time if you really want to get a bang for your buck out of debuff techniques. You can find the table for how debuffing here. How it works is you look at the percentage value (search for "Maximum Buff/Debuff by Technique") and apply that to your technique rank. The resulting number value is how many stat points you can buff / debuff by. So I would suggest waiting for when you can create stronger techniques before going for debuffs.

Otherwise this looks fine, good job for your first app!

Updated. It was actually a typo that it was even on speed. It should have been on strength due to being a fishman so I corrected that as well.

Oh yeah, I was actually writing Strength on that one but then "corrected" it back to Speed when I got distracted...

I think I got what's wrong with the Personality section. See, disarming smiles are actually a good thing if you want to make other people like you. Do you mean that he has a frightening or somehow abnormal smile?
