Nakashima continued looking through the files, his agitation and restlessness growing exponentially. Moving to one of the two final cabinets on the left side, he knew he had to be getting close. 'They have to have a file on him... If he's been active enough on this damn island to become one of the three commanders of that stupid crew....' Nakashima was losing himself in his thoughts, and almost passed right over the exact file he had been looking for. Opening it, he heard a gasp, and the continued end of Raine and Mae's conversation. Turning to look, Nakashima's eyes widened as he saw the fruit with a large bite taken from it. Snapping the Dossier file closed and tucking it next to Eve's, he rushed to Mae's side. "Surprisingly enough, I do." Answering Raine's question, he began to explain. "They're known as Devil Fruits due to the fact that they grant their consumer Mystical and Magical powers. Logia's let people turn into elements. Zoans let their users turn into creatures, and Paramecia's essentially change the users body; rubber, diamond, etc. etc." Picking up the fruit, he couldn't tell anything from it. He was no expert on the fruits, he just simply knew the basics of them "I know it sounds pretty damn good, but they aren't without faults. As the story goes, the Devil bestowed these fruits upon mankind to spite God. Humans, taking full advantage of their powers were punished, and doomed to lose all ability to swim" Nakashima wasn't entirely sure if the story were accurate, considering it was simply word of mouth passed down through the generations of his family. Holding up the two files he had managed to grab, he met Raine's gaze "We need to get out of here, this radio silence is bad news for us. Grab the file on fruits too, and we'll look through it while we travel." Standing up to head out, he heard a gruff voice echo out of the entry way. "Lieutenant? Lieutenant Rylan, where are you?" it spoke, rather loudly. "This is Commodore Blakemore!" Quieting, it seemed he was speaking to himself "Dammit, where is everyone?" Fear struck through Nakashima like a chord. There was nothing he could do about it this time - he would die. There was no Annabeth to save hi- wait. He's looking for Lieutenant Rylan. The gears turning, Nakashima's plan slowly began unfolding before his very eyes, though it hinged on one critical piece. Turning through the room, Nakashima looked for anything that might house a uniform. Spotting a small bag atop a filing cabinet, he moved swiftly and tore it open. BINGO! Pulling it out, he moved towards Mae. "Listen to me, I know we just met, but our very lives hinge on you being able to do this." Laying out the plan; he spoke quickly, but quietly as there was a good chance the Commodore could be heading their way now. "Slip these on. Tell him you're a new recruit and explain the the rookie pirate Nakashima Kaneie, who had wreaked havok in the blues is here in the catacombs. Lieutenant Rylan took his men there to capture him, and left you behind to handle the filing room because you're so new." Not bothering to wait for a response, he grabbed Raine's wrist and pulled her with him to the only hiding spot in the room; a small space between the back wall and the filing cabinets that the two of them barely fit into. At this point, he could only pray that Mae could pull this off.... |

“So it’s a magical fruit that gives you special powers? Sounds… Really dumb” She continued listening to the swordsman’s explanations however, frowning slightly as he continued. All the types had weird names, and there was a high chance that she wouldn’t remember even the first letter to each, and she soon became more worried by what he said next, especially the part about Mae no longer being able to swim. She tutted slightly and looked at the rainbow haired girl, who was still stood there smiling and not particularly taking any of it in. She made a mental note to check just what “powers” she now had, as well as if she could swim after this. To her, it still sounded like a load of crap however. “Well, that sounds like a load of bull. But, I’ve seen people teleport around the place twice now, and after the monkey sod earlier… Whatever, let’s just go” Tucking the file beneath her arm, she took hold of Mae’s hand with her other hand and began to follow Nakashima. However as they did so, a loud voice could be heard down the hallway. She was half tempted to go and take a look, and find out who it was, but something about the swordsman’s nature right now stopped her. She may have enjoyed punching people, but that didn’t make her stupid. She knew that there were many tough marines out there, and she didn’t dare pick fights with them if they didn’t anger her, although to be honest… Most did. Stepping back away from the door, making sure Mae did the same, the redhead watched as the swordsman frantically ran across the room, grabbing a random bag and began searching through it. He then charged over to the bright haired girl, telling her to… Disguise as a marine and talk to the commodore?! She hissed slightly, but realised that this could be their only chance. There was no way that she would be able to not punch this dude in the face, and if what he’d said was true, they’d probably recognise the man stood near them. Balling her fists, she glared at the man. “If she gets hurt, you’re not walking out of here alive. It was your idea to get back at them, and so your head is on the line here” She hated leaving Mae to do something, especially with her tendency to go off topic, but the girl was currently nodding and seemed confident in her ability to lie to such an important marines face. Raine grumbled to herself, but quickly helped the girl put the marine clothing over the top of her own, but was soon yanked away by Nakashima. She growled at him as he practically threw her behind a cabinet with himself. Any moment now she was going to break this guy’s skull… Her fists were balled and it was taking a huge amount of energy to prevent herself from going berserk at this man. Needless to say, once this was all over he was going to suffer. “Ohhh, hello sir!” Down the hallway, the brightly haired girl’s voice could be heard, talking to the high ranking marine as if he were just your usual guy off the street. It was true, she was very friendly and easy to talk to, making her the ideal liar in these situations, but would she be able to pull it off? “Uh… Lieutenant… Rylan, yeah, he went off to go fight some big name pirate somewhere on the island. I’m a new recruit, sir, so I got left behind to work with the filing because… Apparently he’s pretty tough. I haven’t heard anything yet, but… The caves I think they said something about.” There was a moment of silence, which felt like it lasted forever as the marine apparently mulled over the idea of all the men heading off to fight such an important pirate. “Huh… I see. Well thank you for that information newbie. May I ask, what’s with your hair? It’s incredibly unprofessional and I’m surprised the Lieutenant let you keep it” Raine cursed quietly. Those bright colours in her hair were so very important to the girl, there was a good chance that she’d suddenly say something which would screw them over. Gripping the edge of the filing cabinet tightly, to the point where it began to bend beneath her fingers, she listened carefully. “It’s natural sir! Plus, I’m here to promote the LGBT community and so the… Lieutenant let me keep it” Another brief silence followed, before the Commodore stated: “I see, well as you were recruit. I’m off to find Rylan” Footsteps could be heard in the distance, slowly becoming more and more distant until eventually they couldn’t be heard at all. Once it got to this stage, the redhead stood up, shoving Nakashima out of the way and moving towards her partner who was stood peering out of the doorway. A moment later she stuck her thumbs up, which in turn rewarded her with a tight hug from Raine, as she began helping the girl out of the stupid uniform. As much as she found it entertaining when her partner dressed up, something about marine clothing was just horrid to see her in… “That was amazing. I’m surprised it even worked. Let’s get out of here now, if there’s a high ranking marine here then we need to hurry” The redhead hated the marines and would have liked nothing more than to strike that man down, but a mixture of him not having done anything too bad yet, and her knowledge of the danger he presented was enough to keep her down. Actually, thinking about it there was someone else that deserved a punch. As she released her partner from her hug, she spun round full force, swinging a punch at the swordsman’s arm, not caring about his name. Weird, she had no respect for marines but would pay attention to their ranks more than she did with bounties on pirate’s heads. Oh well, when she got a chance when she was a bit tougher she’d make sure to punch a Commodore in the face. “That’s for almost getting us killed” |

Nakashima's heart was in his throat as he listened to Mae expertly re-direct the commodore's attention. Rather impressed with her quick thinking, Raine beat him to the punch in congratulations. However, he could see Raine's attack coming. After all, he had just spent an afternoon witnessing her short temper first hand. If she kept acting like this, a situation may arise that she got them all killed. Sidestepping her punch, the swordsman redirected the force past him and pulled his weapon, sheath and all, free. Holding it to her throat, it was clear she wasn't in danger, but he also knew she wouldn't appreciate being shown up. He still didn't remove it though. Meeting her eyes, he spoke very clearly. "Your rage will be your undoing. Had I wanted, I could have killed Mae while you were stumbling with your attack against me." Nakashima knew he could have, though he didn't have the heart too - something he would never admit out loud. While Raine was obnoxious and loud, both girls had played a key part in his escaping this island alive. He also knew that would likely provoke another reaction out of Raine, as her feelings for Mae were blatant. "If you think you could have devised a plan in the amount of time I had that kept your precious friend alive, then by all means: you can take charge the next time and we'll both put our lives in your hands at the face of likely the strongest opponent you've ever seen." returning his blade to his waistband, he held his hands up - though didn't lower his guard. While he felt he got his point across, he doubted that would be enough to calm her down. However, he knew that Mae's life meant more than any anger or ill-will she may possess towards him. "If you'd like to attack me again, feel free. But know the more time we waste here with your temper tantrum, then the more likely our ploy will be found out. If the Commodore returns, Mae will die." Nakashima spat the words at the redhead. He would apologize for being so cold later, but for now he knew he had to get her back on track of escaping the island. He moved down the corridor looking for a window, and hoping to find a military dock that was separate from the island's main dock. If he could find some type of transportation, they still might escape with ease. If they didn't find something soon, they'd be in real trouble - something he had not mentioned to Raine and Mae. Luckily for him, he could see a small ship. It would fit the three of them comfortably enough to find their way to Carnage and exact their revenge against Roofie... |

“But it all comes down to not having any other damn idea. We could have all just hidden, like a marine is going to suspect there’s a tonne of pirates walking about is he?” She practically spat, angered even more so seeing as her punch had missed. This man aggravated her, and she was more than happy to let him know that. Originally they’d been ok, but she couldn’t just let a man that was willing to risk their lives get off without at least being shouted at, which she was currently doing. It took her a moment to realise that the reason she wasn’t currently going crazy at the swordsman was because Mae currently had hold of her hand and was pulling her back, her danger sense as such most likely active in such an area. Meanwhile, Raine had little to no danger sense, as shown by her willingness to punch pretty much anyone if needs be, apparently excluding a Commodore right now. “If you threaten me again that blade is going to end up in pieces, as will you. Watch yourself” The redhead snarled again, only holding back from lashing out due to her partner squeezing her hand tighter, which made her rethink for a moment, taking a deep breath and trying not to crush Mae’s hand. “And if you even think about any sort of comment, remark, or threat towards her, I’m going to make sure that pain would be tenfold what I’d do if it were to me.” Although not incredibly strong for Grandline standards, Raine still stood her ground, her anger seeping out of her, as if her very pores were excreting rage. Right now was the tipping point, and if this man continued then there was a very good point she wouldn’t stop until his bones were dust. Much to a very hidden and deep part inside, her relief, he began to back up slightly, almost encouraging her to try and think of something better. Although known for being a fighter before anything else, she actually had a bit of an education and a brain to her, and if needs be she was sure she could think of something. “Next time we’ll see then. But trust me… She isn’t dying, that’s a vow I’ve made” She breathed heavily. In all honesty, some sort of anger management training would be good, but she almost felt bad for the person that had to council her. Poor guy would just be sitting about, thinking he’d be making some easy money and then damn she-hulk busts down his door and strangles him due to the expenses. She sneered, she-hulk, really? “I’ll do what the hell I want, but survival and revenge do seem to be our common goals right now” She pulled on her top slightly to straighten it out, with it having slanted to one side slightly when she’d been shoved behind a damn cabinet. Turning to Mae, she managed a smile, although anger was still spread across her face. Nevertheless, the brightly haired girl smiled, grabbing the marine cap from earlier and pocketing it, laughing slightly as she did so. Paying that no mind, the redhead began following the swordsman, knowing all too well that it wouldn’t even be difficult to leave him behind, or throttle him right now and end his life. But something told her not to. Maybe it was her partner’s firm grip on her hand, or maybe it was the fact that he was her only chance of catching that monkey man up and giving her a chance to crush his bones. It took the trio a little while longer than Raine was comfortable with to find anywhere close to resembling a dock, but eventually a small window they passed revealed both water and boats moored up. It would have presumably been quicker if she still wasn’t sulking a bit and insisting to walk a little bit behind the swordsman, and get in his way to aggravate him every time that he took a wrong turn. She didn’t say anything, but kept the look on her face of “Oh look, you took a wrong turn”, even if she was following him like a sheep. Honestly, she was trying to be the biggest bitch possible just so he’d start, and give her a reason to smack him real hard. He was quick, she knew that, but in fits of rage people became clumsy and she could easily pick on that… With her own rage… Yeah. “The doors up ahead house our freedom. Tsk, funny saying that in the middle of this crappy place” |

"Do you really believe, even for a second, a Commodore would accept an empty base at face value?" He nearly bellowed in retaliation to her ignorant statement. Nakashima's irritation spiked as the incessant woman refused to acknowledge his point. Gah, how he hated arguing with ignorant people. Sighing in retreat, he calmed himself with eyes closed. If he let this escalate, it would certainly mean both of their deaths - though worse than that, it would mean his also. Not to mention, they both saved his life today, and his honor as a samurai came before any personal grudge. He couldn't willingly cause them harm without reasoning. Granted - Putting him in danger with this childish tantrum waaas a reason.... Pushing the thought out of his mind, he allowed his calm demeanor to take it's place. The fact that the brutal reality of Mae's death at the Commodore's hands wasn't enough to completely shake her was just an alarm bell that screamed how angry she truly was. Stepping further back, he made one final statement before ending the discussion. "Never forget Raine - What my bounty is for. Never forget who and what I am, and what I'm capable of." It wasn't a threat, and his tone made it clear. There was no anger in his voice, no empathy or joy or sadness. It was an emotionless statement filled with determination. He respected both women as of this moment, but he wouldn't stand for the disrespect that he was just given after saving both of them. True, Raine had her points - they were in danger, and Mae most of all. Though he knew if one of them hadn't of confronted the marine, they'd all be headed to the gallows right now. Milling through the few ships, Nakashima made some tinkering to the rudder chains on all but the one they were taking. Knowing how things operate was pretty damn useful in situations like this. With his damage done, none of the ships would be capable of turning until the rudder chain was completely replaced, which could take awhile, Nakashima didn't know that much. Nakashima was untying the knots that held the ship tot he dock when a large crash exploded from the base. His eyes widening, he completely forgot about preserving the rope, and unsheathed his sword - slicing the last two remaining ropes left. As the ship began drifting into the open ocean, there was the issue of the Nakashima remaining on the dock, and the boarding plank falling into the ocean. Nimbly dodging a hail of bullets by pure luck, he began sprinting for the ship as it got further and further away. Nearing the end of the dock, the commodore could barely be heard. "Men! Ready my ship!" Smirking momentarily, it was quickly wiped from his face as he realized what he would have to do if he didn't want his story to end with a quick drop and a sudden stop... Leaping as he ran out of room to run, his speed carried him within arms reach of the ship. "Raine! Mae!" he simply yelled as he flew towards the ship. |

Slowly, the redhead followed the swordsman out of the base towards the ships, her partner in tow, still happily walking along with the thought of brightly coloured fruits flowing through her mind. This was natural of course, she’d possibly just been granted great powers, and once they all got to rest and sit about to talk for a bit, the two would spend as long as they needed to figuring out if this fruit nonsense had any sort of truth to it. Raine hated the idea of a magical fruit granting super powers, it sounded like nonsense and she’d never be able to get her head around it. Of course she hated the idea of her partner being unable to swim more-so, so she was really hoping it wasn’t the case. After all, they still hadn’t had a chance to have their beach day. “Not a bad idea… I guess that’s what your bounty is for” The redhead mocked slightly, although most likely not loud enough for the swordsman to hear, as she watched him slash through the chains to the rudders. She knew a decent amount about ships, having worked on both dismantling and occasionally building them up in her time as a worker. Sure, her main talent and passion was music, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t throw a few planks and nails together and make something which could float. Speaking of which, these marines hadn’t done too badly, shame she was currently tightening every rope mooring them to the docks, so those measly marines couldn’t undo the knots. After she’d done as much as she could be bothered with, Raine used the boarding plank up onto the deck, inspecting the craftsmanship as her partner walked over to a nearby bench on the deck and sat down, sighing slightly and grabbing a bottle of water from her bag. She tended to enjoy her rest, and they’d been moving constantly for quite a while now. Not only that but not long ago they’d acquired some serious injuries, and although they’d been patched up, the redhead admitted she hadn’t asked how Mae was doing nearly enough. Once they were free from this place, she’d make sure to do everything she could to help her if needs be. Clambering up to where the wheel of the ship was, the redhead grabbed hold of it and waited until the swordsman released them. Before he could though, a loud bang was heard from the main base and soon gunfire entailed. Growling, she ducked down to avoid being shot where possible, and attempted to peer off the side of the ship, noticing that the ropes had in fact been cut now. Why didn’t he do that in the first place? Sighing heavily, she spun the wheel, sending the ship away from the docks to avoid any marine joining them, unfortunately remembering all too late they’d planned on travelling with the shitty swordsman. Charging towards the side of the ship and jumping down all the stairs at once, she moved to where Nakashima was currently… Flying towards her. “Here!” Not wanting to grab the injured man where possible, she leant over the side of the ship and held her guitar out. Although an odd gesture, she was confident she could hold onto his weight with it, and due to his angle and velocity, he’d be able to land on the instrument and get onto the ship. It was a bit of a stretch, but if she grabbed him right now there was a good chance he’d end up with an injury, which although not something she was against, he’d never shut up about it. Of course if the moron managed to not land on the guitar, or weighed about three times the amount she anticipated, she would reach out from the side of the ship with her spare hand and grab hold of him, and just to tell him how stupid he was, she’d haul him up and swing him downwards towards the deck. Landing on the platform she’d created and hopping onto the deck, or being grabbed and slammed into the deck, either worked fine. “I guess I can appreciate your style” She managed to mumble at the man. Although she wasn’t the happiest person when it came to this man, the way he’d screwed over the marines there and the fact he seemed to understand what he’d done… She’d ask him more later. For now, they needed to get away from the marines. They’d certainly be slowed down by being unable to both turn, and get away from the docks, but they always seemed to find a way of annoying her. If that Commodore actually caught up she’d probably not be able to hold in her rage at that either… Spinning the wheel a little bit, she began getting the boat as far away from the docks as possible, ducking as she heard a swarm of bullets, thankful she did as a piece of wood splintered nearby to her head. Thankfully, that hadn’t been her body otherwise that could have been the end of her. Funny, she ran into that sort of problem a lot, but never really thought about it. But hey, speaking of things like that. “Mae, you doing ok?” “Yeah just fine, I’m just tired. It’s been a long day and my head hurts” The brightly haired girl pouted slightly, still laying down and ignoring the hail of bullets for the most part, due to them being unable to hit her from where she lay. She was currently just trying to rest, feeling a little off from earlier and also the possibility of not being able to swim. But also the idea of having super powers interested her, and she was currently waving her arms around attempting to sling webs and create shockwaves from her fists, with no luck at all. “Once we’re off this island we can take a nice nap then, and figure this all out” A part of her wasn’t actually confident if they’d get off the island in the first place, but she had to remain confident. These bullets weren’t going to do them any harm if they kept moving, but she still hadn’t dared to turn and see if they’d found a way to follow them. |

Reaching out and grasping for the guitar, the swordsman managed to slip a couple fingers on the end of it, and sliding his hand up, solidified his grip. His muscles straining against gravity, he hauled himself up and onto the ship with the help of Raine. Nodding his thanks, he truly began to realize how lucky he had been throughout the day. His meeting Jack, Raine, and Mae all of whom turned out to assist him in some way. Calm however.... The swordsman thought back to the cowards run in fear, and he grimaced in anger before a bullet clipping his shoulder snapped him back into reality. Clearing his mind, he forgot about the coward who would die at his blade, for now.. he had to focus on escaping. Taking cover of the rather thick wood, it would only provide protection for a few minutes. As bullets began getting dangerously close to punching their way through his defense, the commodore mounted on of the ships. Chuckling to himself as the marine soon realized what was wrong with it, he relaxed as they were slowly, but surely, sailing out of range of the marines' rifles. However, the smile quickly fled from his face as he realized both pirates had overlooked something; A large cannon, sitting on a rotating platform. Turning it to face the pirates, THe commodore loaded 3 cannonballs at a single time, and launched them with a ridiculous amount of gunpowder behind them. Drawing his thicker saber, in hoped to do something, Nakashima stood. He quickly realized the projectiles had an express purpose. Thanks to the way the commodore had loaded it, two of the cannonballs spun incredibly fast, and flew immediately sideways into the water, their rotations however, propelled the 3rd one with ridiculous speed, sending it flying straight for Mae before any of them could hardly react. "Take that Pirates! My Fastball Cannonball!" The Commodore exclaimed as he was sure that he had sunken them. However, Nakashima wouldn't be beaten that easily. Thank to how lose he was to Mae, he was able to beat the Cannonball, by about a fraction of a second. Holding the flat side against the blade, they collided roughly, sending Nakashima sprawling back as the ridiculous rotations first curved, then bent, then shattered his blade, the cannonball slamming directly into his outstretched arm, turning the bone to dust in mere seconds. Screaming in complete pain, Nakashima's world went white as he fell forward, his only solstice being in the fact that he wouldn't die honor-less. [EXIT] |

The ship slower grew further and further away from the marines, the bullets becoming less and less accurate to the point where Raine felt semi-confident standing up a little bit. She didn’t, but she could have, probably… Occasionally she peeked over the edge of the ship however, remaining near to the wheel but making sure that she could see what was going on. What she saw she didn’t particularly like however, as she saw a huge cannon slowly turning towards them, until eventually the commodore began loading ammo. Jumping back to the wheel, the redhead spun the wheel sharp right to avoid being hit, however before she could do anything she watched as it flew towards their ship. “NO!” She roared, sprinting down from the top part of the ship and leaping down, trying to see what had happened. The attack had been flying straight towards where Mae had been, who had been out of sight due to the captains quarters housing the wheel, and her having been laid in front of it. Landing on the main deck, the redhead found that her partner was completely safe, and instead the swordsman lay on the ground, out cold and blood spattered everywhere. His breathing was faint and his arm pretty much mush by this point. It may be able to heal, but she was no doctor. “Shit, help me get him inside” Breaking out of her chance, Mae came over to help, and soon the two were carrying the man carefully inside the captain’s quarters. There, they lay him down on the first bed they found, and whilst the rainbow haired girl remained inside to try and help him, thankful for him literally saving her from becoming a dust cloud, the redhead charged outside to grab the wheel again. Quickly spinning it again, she gained some sort of control, and although it was a bit early, she began glancing at the Log which was sat just above the wheel. Slowly she turned the ship towards that location, waiting until she was confident it was pointing in the right direction before rushing back below deck. “He took the hit of the cannonball for me” Mae noted quietly. Raine sighed, grimacing and looking at the man. It was a miracle he wasn’t dead, although he’d probably pass soon if they didn’t do something. Although cleaning his wound was a good start, it wouldn’t be nearly enough, so as her partner wiped down the blood etc, the now more disheartened than angry woman began to apply pressure to his torso near the arm to reduce bloodflow, whilst wrapping up pieces of his arm tightly. Quickly, she requested for some bandages, which were soon provided. She took them and began wrapping up the man in brightly coloured medi-stuff. She couldn’t tell for sure, but he’d probably make it through this. “People like this really mess me up… Both an arsehole and a good guy, it just really makes it difficult for me to tell if I should break his arm, or keep bandaging him…” [EXIT] |

Thank you for your patience. Your storyline has been reviewed.
The first couple of pages of the SL really dragged on from a reading perspective! Fortunately all those extra wheels going inactive or leaving ended up benefiting the story overall. You managed to stay in the power boundaries of your respective SD levels though the mook stomping did drag in places (Giga...).
Must admit the above line had me worried, the characters being low SD, wounded and exhausted from battle. However, you took full advantage of the low Marine presence and custom base status on Gesso Island to engineer a scenario that avoided this SL entering the awful territory of starter syndrome! IC impact - For his involvement in the Catacombs ambush of World Government forces, Nakashima "United Teriyaki Slayer" Kaneie's bounty has been rounded to 82,000,000 and is now noted as active in the Grand Line. Similarly, Raine "Rowdy Rampage" Nimia's bounty has been boosted to 13,500,000 and her presence in the Grand Line is known to authorities.
