Sinfornia Island • • • The “most musical” place in the world, and source of both talented musicians and unique instruments with powerful properties. Rhythm and sound is the lifeblood of Sinfornia, where the wind blowing through grassy hills creates a smooth chimes and rain falling on the stones is akin to the beat of many drums. The people of the island, the Sinfonians are strongly tied to melodies, going as far as to live their lives in tempo with the island song and freezing still when the music stops. Strange creatures populate its green knolls all themed after instruments, such as cow bells, saxophone-shaped jazz cats, flute rats, monkey gongs, birds with harps for wings and worms that act like accordions. The source of this musical focus is believed to be the bizarre stone menhirs of unknown origin. The tall stones have been there for as long as anyone or anyone’s ancestors can imagine, and each of them has a series of holes bored through them. The windy isle is forever blowing gust through the stones creating a constant flow of mysterious music. The sounds generated are so powerful that they tend to resonate with individuals and heavily influence their mood. Each menhir has a unique feeling it brings about and tends to linger for a short time after hearing the stone. The sheer number of them across the island can leave a wanderer in a scattered state of feelings when sampling all the noises for too long. Sinfornia has no major towns or cities. Instead small villages are the main hubs of the island, with 9 major genre villages dedicated to a single type of music with multiple sub-genre hamlets near to them. Each village is considered the master of their chosen genre and aspiring musicians tend to seek out a particular village for inspiration and recognition on the path to becoming a musical star. • • • Climate Sinfornia is an unusual island in that it experiences all four seasons in an accelerated cycle, each season lasting precisely 30 days. Through these seasons, the island always has a breeze. Usually a soft gust, when the weather turns this can grow into a powerful gale though not once in the past can the populace recall anything worse. Well, aside from the times the Musician's people dabble in weather magic. • • • Locations They say the builders of Brick Blues came from the Village of Blues so its little surprise both are similar in appearance. Square buildings made from blue brick and streets paved with blue stone, the whole village has a mellow vibe about it. The citizens tend to wear simple clean suits and dresses and are very relaxed about most things. Their instrument of choice is the harmonica. Not far to the North is the Village of Jazz with a similar brick architecture though more vibrant in choice of materials. The vibe here is slightly more upbeat and the clothing more loose, with the trumpet and saxophone being the dominant instrument. Sitting in the southern central plains of Sinfornia is the Village of Folk, with a rural appearance to its wooden shacks and farms. The banjo is king in these parts though boasting to be the source of much music, the locals are keen to take on any instrument to prove that. Between Folk and Blues is the Village of Reggae which shares the wooden style of its nearby neighbor but has a more mellow vibe of its brick neighbor. Dreads are a common hairstyle for the villagers, with drums and bass being the instrument combo of choice for their work. On the southern side of the islands are the three largest villages. The Village of Hip-Hop on the south east, the Village of Pop to the central south and the Village of Rock to the south west. Most of Hip-Hop prefer to live on the streets outside their homes, taking great pride in their home. They are typically fast talking and quick witted. Pop has the largest buildings and could be considered a town, with bright lights and an in your face attitude. The fashion is vibrant and quick to change based on popularity. Rock has buildings constructed entirely of metal with many citizens being night owls who rock out through the night and snooze through the day. Mastery of the electric guitar is a must for all villagers. North east of Pop is the Village of Electronic, a village of wires and techno-gadgets with equally bright lights at all hours of the day and night. There is a low hum of machinery accompanied by a persisting beat around the village, with villagers incorporating random pieces of machines into their clothing. Sound synthesizers make use of nearby menhirs to create unique sounds. In the North of Sinfornia is the Village of Classical, a more refined society who consider themselves the superior village to all others. With marble homes and maintained gardens, classical symphony is played by the servants during the day until a resident should decide to play a true master piece to dazzle all. All the villagers tend to wear silk gloves and take care of their prized Grand Pianos. They have the blessing of the Black Musician to deal with the day to day governing of the island. On the Eastern edge of the island, located on a cliff high above the ocean's waves is the Musician's Mansion. The imposing white building has a sweeping view of the seas and acts as both home of the Black Musician and their watchtower for any threats to the musical island. Carved into the cliff face beneath the mansion are divots and holes similar to those found in the menhirs across the island. From here it is claimed the Black Musician can compose a ballad capable of bringing absolute destruction to their enemies on the sea. • • • Faction Influence Sinfornia island is the the capital of the Black Musician's territory. Preferring the island to be preserved in its current state, entry onto the island will be challenged by weather and sound by all those with poor relations with the Black Musician (sub 50). |

Melodious Sea • • • The waters around Sinfornia are ruled by the music in the air. An upbeat and easy going tune will lead to calm seas, whilst a heavy metal thrash will cause bedlam on the waves. Most of the influences come from the nearby island of Sinfornia, though it is said especially skillful musicians can tame the seas with their musical prowess. |
