Jack sat quietly, sandwiched between Brycen and the strange masked fox-lady-thing that had offered to help the two men. The pirate watched as the other creatures seemed to talk to themselves in a relaxed manner, not really seeming to mind or take any issue with the humans on board the barge with them. As Jack tuned in, he slowly started picking out bits and pieces of information from each conversation. Some were talking about the recent crops, some were talking about this festival they were going to, and some were even joking about the priest's long red nose! Jack could have pinched himself right then and there to check if he were dreaming if he had not already done so multiple times already practically. He had just about reached his wits end with this strange place- heck, maybe he and Brycen had died and this was what the afterlife looked like? The pirate wasn't certain, he wasn't that much of a spiritual man per say- yet when he saw things like this, it made him wonder. Regardless, the barge gently flowed down the stream, the sounds of the woods and the people in the boat being the only sounds of note. The pirate looked back to Brycen who seemed just as perplexed as him, before looking to the strange woman who had helped them out only a few moments ago. "So then... Uh... thanks for the lift, miss" Jack said. The man may not have known anything about this place, but he at least knew to be grateful when he was helped out- it was practically in the pirates code! The man watched as the strange woman who had been looking out over the forest turned to look at him and Brycen. She seemed to tilt her head a bit as if she were trying to understand why Jack had apologized on behalf of the two in the first place, it took her about a solid minute or two before she even responded- during which Jack had been awkwardly staring at her masked face waiting for a reply, "You... You look funny" was all she said in response before looking past the blond to Brycen, "Do I know you?" she asked, putting a finger on her mask where her lips should have been. The pirate raised an eyebrow, looking at the fox woman before looking at Brycen, oh god, it was going to be one of those festivals wasn't it? Jack suddenly felt like an awkward third wheel for a few moments before he decided to turn the tables on the fox lady, "I guess you could say we're from out of town?" Jack said with a shrug and a somewhat apologetic smile as he wasn't sure what to say anymore at this point, "-Maybe you could help us though? Could you tell us where we are? We got lost in the woods you see and..." Jack was suddenly caught off as the masked woman pushed her masked forehead against Jack's out of nowhere, catching the pirate off guard as he suddenly went quiet before muttering to Brycen, "The locals seem friendly at least...". The fox woman kept her forehead against Jacks for like, a whole minute, before abruptly pulling away. "This is Parr-guyot, the hidden kingdom of the forest..." the woman said before falling silent once more. Jack immediately scraped at every memory he had of maps Avery had shown him of the Grand Line as well as the New World- but even then, he had never even heard of such an island- or even a full on kingdom at that. He had heard legends about strange animal creatures in the new world who could walk on two legs, but were these those same beasts? For some reason, a feeling in his gut told him the answer was 'no'. Jack briefly looked to Brycen, wondering if the purple haired man had any idea where they were or if he had heard the name before at all. It was frustrating in a way, they had finally gotten a straight answer on where they were- but found it was absolutely useless to them. Still, maybe there was more she could tell them? Jack looked around the area as their boat floated comfortably down the river to, well, wherever it was they were going. "So- this festival we're going to, where is it?" Jack asked, trying to speak over the loud frog people behind him. The woman's response was calm and collected, and she seemed to speak with a clarity that somehow made Jack feel foolish for asking what seemed to her as an obvious question, "Tonight is The Moon Festival, we're going to the Forbidden Palace at our capital, Tengoku-ie, to celebrate" the woman said... However, after another pause, her demeanor seemed to change. Jack watched as the previously mysterious and calm figure suddenly became full of energy in her voice, "It'll be so much fun! There'll be fireworks- and food, lots of food! We'll get to wear masks and play games and there'll be a parade and-" Jack lurched back in his seat as the woman seemed to make a complete 180 in her tone and personality out of nowhere. In a way, it sort of reminded Jack of Cream a bit, purely in how the woman seemed to be an uncontrollable bundle of energy at one second, and a little bit of a downer the next- still, he could't help but chuckle at the woman's enthusiasm. "Well now miss...'erm..." he stopped, realizing he hadn't asked their savior her name, "You may call me Amaterasu- nah, I'll call you Amy" Jack said, interrupting as he instinctively shortened the long and somewhat wordy name into a smaller and more concise one. Amy seemed to be a bit startled by Jack's words but, seemed to nonverbally smile somehow as her body language indicated her relaxing a bit, "A-Amy? W-Well, alright then, I suppose it would be appropriate seeing as how I feel somewhat responsible to make sure you two get to where you're going alright..." the fox woman said. That struck a cord though, where exactly were Jack and Brycen trying to go anyways? They were stuck in some strange forest kingdom that they had never heard of, talking to a bunch of semi-human creatures, with no idea what to do! Maybe getting to this capital would be a good start? They could maybe find a ship or something or a Den Den Mushi to call Cactus Island with? "Well, Ms.Amy, how long until we reach this capital of yours? You'd make for a good guide after all" Amy simply looked to the front of the ship and pointed ahead towards where they were going.

The quietness continued for a little while, as the three seemed to merely take in the atmosphere, listening to the odd conversation and watching the world go by. Brycen in particular was perplexed by the whole thing, and realised quickly that as soon as he’d been able to sit down and think to himself, without the need to talk to anyone, that he was in fact kind of stressed. He was in an unfamiliar situation, and he was just thankful for a little sit down. And so he sat there, ignoring the locals as he watched the glistening colours against the surface of the water, which made him smile. It was kind of relaxing in all honesty, watching the world go by slowly but surely. Eventually though, the man was dragged little by little back into the real world, as he heard Jack speaking to their helper. He supposed that he should thank her as well, but not wanting to interrupt her thought he merely bowed her head and smiled, even if he’d already thanked her, seeing it as only polite. Finally she spoke again though, looking towards the doctor himself and asking if she knew him. He actually managed to snort when she asked that, finding the question rather comical in all honesty. She shielded her face, yet expected him to be able to recognise her, and then for him to be able to tell if she knew him. Still, from her looks that he could make out, it was safe to assume they didn’t know each other. Nobody he knew had that hair colour. “I’m afraid I don’t recognise you… But hey, I wouldn’t mind getting to know you a little better” Despite the alcohol being out of his system by now, he still had the confidence to try and flirt a little bit with the lady. Naturally, it didn’t sound like much, and a mere invitation to some conversation a little bit later, but that really wasn’t what he meant, for the most part anyway. However before she could take him up on that, Jack began to explain it was unlikely, and asked where they might be. It was probably for the best that he asked, seeing as if they didn’t find out, they’d be trapped in this weird warped reality, possibly forever. Instead of a proper response though, instead the pirate received a rather unconventional and inefficient head-butt, lasting for an unusually long time. Brycen frowned to himself, and huffed just a tad. He’d been hoping that he’d be in there with this lady, yet here she was bopping heads with another man. A feeling of betrayal built up inside of him, but just before he could complain to him and be all depressing and emo about how lonely his life was (which it really wasn’t), the masked one brought her head away and began explaining where they were. Parr-guyot… What a strange name. He furrowed his brow, and he held his hand against his face as he tried to remember the name, yet nothing came to mind. He supposed he’d never heard of it, now that he would have expected to. As it was, he could count the number of Grandline islands he could name on one hand, so the chances of him knowing this place was low to begin with. Jack looked towards him, holding the same confused look he had, which meant that the pirating master didn’t know either. A little bit of a predicament to be honest, but the likelihood was that they were still somewhere on Cactus, just… A little lost was all. “A festival about mooning, a forbidden act, often mixed with certain types of dance, on the island of parrot. Odd” The doctor gave the others a wry smile, hoping they’d appreciate his intentionally bad joke. The lame part was that it was a whole lot worse than even he’d intended, assuming they actually got it that was. For all he knew, this masked woman was taking him literally, and might try and correct him, or might laugh at his little joke, which he certainly hoped for. She began to get excited about the festival though, which was sort of sweet to see. He smiled a little again, although similar to Jack, was a little confused by her sudden childlikeness, despite having moments ago been quite the opposite, quietly sitting around and only talking when needed. Perhaps this was something rare then, and didn’t happen very often. In fact… If it was to do with the moon like its namesake, then it could only happen a few times a year at most. A moment later and Jack was there, bringing up even more good points, asking the woman what her name was, and receiving a confusing answer. Amater-… Huh… He sat there confused, but the captain had the smart idea of just abbreviating the name. He smiled at the simplicity of it, and nodded towards the newly named Amy. She explained that she felt responsible for them, and then pointed to the front of the ship to explain where they were headed. More questions began popping into the doctor’s head, but for now all he could do was look at the pretty lights filling the sky, and observe the lights on the ground which illuminated some sort of town, most likely known as The Forbidden Palace. Silly name really, it wasn’t that forbidden if they were going there. “That’s… Impressive” At first he’d wanted to ask Amy some more questions, but for now all Brycen could manage was to ogle at the lights. In all honesty, he’d only seen fireworks once, and it was that time when someone in his medical class had mixed the wrong chemicals. It made little sense he’d had chemicals in there to begin with, but if he could actually pass his exams, then there was obviously going to be something weird about that institution. He chortled to himself at the memory, as he continued to watch the bright lights, quietly cursing himself for not having sat next to their masked friend instead. Now would have been the perfect time to do some smooth talking, but doing it over Jack just felt kind of… Wrong. “By the way, do you have any… Male friends in your life?” Morals… What are they? |

Amy gave a small chuckle at Byrcen's jest, "Dershishishishishi", placing her hand up on her mask where her mouth would be as if to try and cover the sound. The pirate raised an eyebrow as he watched the woman take the joke so kindly, indeed, the change of personality was still somewhat unsettling a bit- yet, the man decided to go ahead and let it slide for now, a talkative and friendly guide was better than a cold and uncaring one. Still, as Brycen straight up asked the stranger who they hardly knew if she was single, Jack couldn't help but mentally face-palm a bit- gods the man really knew how to keep it subtle didn't he? In all truth, Jack, despite his jests and occasionally- okay multiple, one night stands, throughout his misadventures, had never really had the time for Romance. Sure he had childhood crushes growing up in the open fields of Greensland, but once he had left that comfortable isle and tried to make his fortune in the real world, life kept getting in his way. First living on the streets as a homeless idealist, then training under his master Avery, and then ending up on Desertia- with all of that, he never gave such thoughts much merit. Jack sighed. "Okay, hang on a second" Jack abruplty said, standing up from his seat and shimmying towards Amy who was surprised that the man had gotten up from his seat and was now moderately rocking the boat, much to the ire of the other nonhuman passengers who were shouting at him to sit down. Tuning them out, the man promptly nudged Amy to scoot over to where Jack had previously sat, putting her right inbetween the two men. As the man sat down, the shouting frogs and bird-men voices died down with only a few grumbles about 'strange no-furs'. Jack shot Brycen a look that had the words 'you owe me for this damn it' all over it. Amy was mightily confused by Jack's actions and even more so by Brycen's words, "Excuse me? Oh... Hmmm..." the woman said before thinking on the question a bit while Jack leaned back and looked out over the large tranquil lake they were gliding over. There were fireworks lighting up the night sky, capturing the attention of everyone in the boat including the one eyes pirate who gave a small and relaxed smile at the sight- back home the only time one had festivals like this was during the Harvest Moon, it was always a grand affair, and Jack had missed them dearly since leaving Greensland. "You mean a mate? Oh why no, I don't have time for that sort of foolishness, I'm a busy woman after all" Amy said, reverting somewhat to her more cold and formal tone as she answered Brycen's question. Jack smirked a bit as he looked away at the fireworks on the lake, still- he would chime in a bit, "I'll speak for my associate here and ask if any of the women that come to these festivals are single- or, without a mate, as you'd call it" Jack asked, having a strong hunch that his doctor's next question would likely be that. The pirate didn't bother looking back as he heart Amy's reply, "What strange creatures you two are- you mean female yokai without mates?" She asked, causing Jack to raise an eyebrow. For some reason the usage of the term 'yokai' gave him a sinking feeling all of a sudden that humans like him and Brycen weren't exactly normal in this strange wonderland. Jack looked over to Brycen briefly to see if the man was thinking along the same lines as the captain, but still answered as clamly as he could despite the new knowledge, "Uh, sure?" Jack asnwered tentatively, to which the woman paused for amoment before lauhing again, "Dershishishishi- why of course! People come far and wide to the Moon Festival, there have to be plenty without soulmates" Amy replied as if amused by the question in the first place. As the fireworks exploded overhead, lighting up the night with colorful light and booming sounds, Jack couldn't help but realize as their small barge got closer, just how large the capital of this kingdom was. It was situated right on the edge of this massive lake, with large stone buildings and lanterns lighting up the entire coast. The palace looked like it was build atop a hill, with the city surrounding it. Amy noticed the captain staring at the capital though, "I never get tired of seeing it like this too... Don't worry, I'll show you both all the sights" she said assuredly. The canoe would continue to sail onwards with some small talk here and there, until it finally reached one of the long wooden docks situated on the lake. As soon as the small barge had drawn close to the city, Jack felt overwhelmed. A flurry of smells of food, smoke, and alcohol filled the air- an aroma which suddenly peaked his interest. He could see more and even stranger creatures walking the streets of the docks, wearing elegant dresses, suits, kimonos, armor, and more while carrying paper lanterns- all were in a jovial and good mood. Jack's eyes grew wide with wonder and excitement as he looked at it all, his heart beating with the same burning curiosity and adventurous drive he had felt before getting on the canoe earlier. Wonderland fit this place well, Jack was overwhelmed by everything he saw, heard, and smelled. The red nosed priest got out of the boat first and helped the other passengers disembark. Amy went ahead of the two humans and gave the strange man three gold coins, most likely to account for the unexpected arrivals in the form of the two humans. Still, Jack felt as giddy and excited as a schoolboy again despite still being clad in his pirate garb. Coincidentally though, this was one of the first things which Amy spoke to the two men about as they got up off the boat and onto the docks of the capital, "Right then, if you only have a night to spare then we'll need to dress you up to really get you in the spirit- come!" She suggested/ordered before grabbing Brycen's hand and pulling him in particular along off the wooden dock and onto the cobblestone streets of The Forbidden Palace. Jack, realizing he would be left behind if he just stayed there, jogged after the two, weaving inbetween large a whole host of strange creatures, ranging form everything from badger creatures to strange humanoid figures with elongated necks. Strangely enough though, and this is something the Brycen would surely realize too, everyone they passed seemed to be wearing some sort of mask... Amy pulled Brycen into what looked like a clothing shop to JAck, although all the words in this place weren't written in the common tongue- meaning neither men knew what on earth they said. Still, Jack was a bit dismayed- he finally got to this strange and outlandish place and the first thing they were doing was getting some new clothes? The thought caused the man to frown a bit as he entered the shop, but, he decided to let it go- when in Romulin one does as the Romulins do, right? Jack spotted Amy speaking to the red devil looking creature behind the counter, they seemed to be arguing. This arguing ceased though when the fox woman promptly pulled out a bag of golden coins and placed it upon the counter shutting the devil up and causing his personality to completely shift. "Welcome friends! Come, COME! Pick anything you like! Tonight is the Moon Festival! At least pick a mask to wear, it's tradition to wear one so as to take it off again during the eclipse at the end of the night! Thus with the beginning of the new year, you will be able to start with a new face and a new hope for the future by shedding the skin of the past!" the creature said. Jack raised an eyebrow for what felt like the umpteenth time, so this was all some sort of new year party? Good enough. "Pick out something to to wear that you like- oh, and pick a mask as well!" Amy said excitedly, as if she seemed to relish the opportunity of showing the two strange outsiders what life was like in this city and its culture. Now, Jack was by no means a person with a good sense in clothing style- he simply tried to wear as much flamboyantly 'pirate' clothing as possible. Thus, when he looked around the small and cramped shop and found no real 'pirate' clothing to speak of, he was immediately stumped and simply gave up searching. Still, one outfit did manage to catch his eye. The blond swiftly nabbed it and went into an open dressing room where he slipped into the new pair of clothes and stepped out, his eyepatch being the only article form his previous outfit still there. The red kimono the man wore felt nice and comfortable on him. It even had a sash which the man could wrap his two swords around even- although he would admit that without any underwear the piece was fairly drafty, how could people wear these things and not feel silly? Either way, it was a gift the man accepted, "Hmm, stylish, I approve" Amy said before going behind the man and grabbing his old clothes. She then walked over to the devil behind the counter who promptly took them, opened his mouth, and swallowed them all in one gulp. Jack reeled back in shock as he saw all of his old clothes and possessions promptly get eaten by the red devil creature. "Don't worry, you won't need those stuffy things anymore" she said as if it were no big deal, and indeed, she would take Brycen's old clothes and give them for the shop owner to eat too. The pirate, trying to shake off the strangeness of this world walked over to a wall of masks, inspecting them carefully. "Hmm, a mask to wear for the night you say?" the pirate reiterated to himself. Afer a minute or so of intense internal debate in his head, the man reached up and grabbed a red mask which looked like the face of the priest from earlier. The white hair attached ot it flowed back over the mans head covering up the blondness fairly well while still leaving his mouth visible for one to see. "Eh? EEEEHHHH?" he asked, looking for confirmation from the group on his snazzy new headwear. |

Brycen smiled a little bit, enjoying the experience quite a bit. He got to see some beautiful scenery, and the fireworks weren’t half bad as well. He smirked to himself, wondering if he could get away with that line, or if it would perhaps be a little bit too much when talking to a lady that currently didn’t even have a face. For all he knew, she didn’t have a face, but instead just some butt cheeks or something, which was an odd thought. Still, arse kisser or not, she sure had a cute laugh. He felt mildly proud that he’d gotten a giggle out of her too, seeing as that hardly ever happened. Then something else rather rare happened, as Jack got up, much to the disapproval of many of the other passengers on the ship, and then shuffled Amy up to sit next to him. The almighty captain of the Maelstrom Pirates, permitting one of his subordinates to have the lady, instead of himself? Such selfless acts would have brought a tear to his eye, if he hadn’t have already been so distracted by the lady. He attempted to make a mental note to thank the man later on though, and gave him a nod in appreciation too. “You’d be surprised to be honest…” The doctor mused, mostly to himself. It wasn’t like he could force such a fine lady into anything, but he would have sure liked showing her the path of enlightenment. People that said they had no time just confused him in all honesty, seeing as no matter how busy your life was, you always would have the ability to make time for a partner. Perhaps he wasn’t the best of sources on that sort of advice, but being able to come home from work or something, to say hi to your partner before hopping into bed, and just chatting or having fun for a bit before sleeping… That wasn’t even anything out of anyone’s day, seeing as everyone sleeps eventually. That’s a doctoring fact. Jack seemed to have been distracted by the bright lights outside, and to be honest every now and then Brycen noticed his eyes drifting out across the water too, but now the pirate captain added his own thoughts, acting as if that was what his doctor would have said. If it hadn’t have been so accurate, he’d have grumbled some form of complaint to him. He wasn’t sure about the response Amy gave though… Sure, she sounded optimistic for them, but her terminology was of another world. What was it with weird people from and in the Grandline. They had a body builder on their ship as it was, who had some weird powers of his own, originating from the dangerous seas, and his word choices were… Not exactly normal. “Far and wide hey?” He genuinely couldn’t understand that, but decided not to ask anything quite yet. They were in the land of trees right now, and he couldn’t imagine, or see anything any further than that. Perhaps people travelled there via weird doorways, similar to the one that Jack, him and… WAIT… His eyes shot around as he searched about, realising just one of the things he’d forgotten. Where’d that weird elf angel go? He pouted slightly as he realised she’d disappeared, before realising that she was most likely just another one of the forest spirits, playing a trick on them or something. How very mean, but oh well. Small talk continued for a little while, as the clueless doctor continued to try and come up with ways of woo’ing the masked lady, with little to no luck. Seeing as she planned on giving them a guided tour though, he still had a lot of time. It was rather peculiar though, that she would want to show people like them around, especially seeing as she didn’t know them whatsoever. He wasn’t complaining though, and seeing as Jack seemed ok with it, he’d probably just not heard something, and forcing the issue would just be rude. A little while later and the boat arrived at the docks, and many of the creatures on board disembarked excitedly, with both Jack and Amy being among them. Brycen sighed a little bit, fully aware that from here things could only get weirder, before getting to his feet and stepping off. As he did so, he noticed their guide hand over a few coins of sorts to the priest, before waiting for her tourists. Once the two men were stood around waiting, she invited them to join her for a change of clothing and to then go and see the place. It sounded like a good idea to be honest, not that the doctor had much choice as he was literally grabbed and then dragged along towards wherever they were going, dodging oncoming odd creatures. Brycen didn’t say much however, still in a sort of trance. He was confused by what was happening, and this situation felt familiar, yet completely foreign at the same time. He was sort of aware that she held his hand firmly as they moved along the streets, and it was a nice moment he had to admit, yet he couldn’t figure out why it was happening. She’d made it clear she wasn’t into him, so was she just messing him around? Unless… Was she playing hard to get?! That cheeky fox! Literally! He chortled to himself, or more… Tried to, to a small degree of success, until he became once again distracted by yet another oddity, that being that she was suddenly in a shop with him. “This is novel, isn’t it?” He smiled at Amy, before looking behind him, noticing a rather flustered looking Jack. It appeared he’d struggled to keep up with them, which was understandable with just how busy everything had been. Shooting the man a smile, he turned back to his There was a variety of clothing to pick from, although being a rather small place, there wasn’t a huge amount to begin with. In fact, only one thing really stood out to the man, and he instantly walked over to it, picking it up and patting it down a little to get a good look. As Jack entered a changing room, so did the doctor, quickly swapping his clothing and making sure that nobody saw his bare body. That would of course be something difficult to explain to his eventual love partner, although the word eventual probably wasn’t ideal or accurate. Nevertheless, he soon walked out and showed off his new clothing. Similar to his captain, he’d found himself a kimono to wear, although it was actually a rather non-traditional colour. Instead of one or two colours with a pattern, this piece of clothing was closer to all the colours of the rainbow, badly merged into one piece of clothing. Somehow, it didn’t look like he was about to attend a gay pride celebration, but instead had time travelled, many many years back into the past, back when baggy trousers were still a thing. He had a white haramaki, which at least mildly made up for it, which covered his torso quite well. Funnily enough, hidden below were his hero clothes, which he refused to remove, unlike his doctor’s gown and cardigan. “Pretty good huh?” Amy didn’t seem so quick to compliment him, but he was sure she was just stunned by his amazing looks, and so he swiftly moved towards the masks to take a look through. Quickly he found one he liked, with a white base colour, and red paint across it, which made it look a lot like a wolf, and he realised instantly this was the one. He placed it over his face and laughed a little bit, and then turned towards Jack to see how he looked. “Looking good. A fine captain! How about me?” |

As the Doctor came up to her she ignored the comments he said to her, remaining where she was like a snake backed in a corner. After a while the two went on their way, leaving the woman in a defensive state. She simply watched them as they walked off doing their own thing, she looked back to where they came from and then looked back to where the other two went, she didn't like socializing as it is and she managed to cripple one of them anyways but all that aside, this place was quite boring. After a while of walking she managed to get out of the warped shop and back out side, sighing to her self she walked back into town, this time not caring if she is seen by others because at this point there was no point in hiding. She made her way towards the docks and got onto the ship she arrived on and got the ship ready to move out. Luckily there wasn't anything to look back on as she was only on the island for a few hours, maybe the next island will hold more adventure. OOC Note

Jack let out a "Harumph" as he looked over towards Brycen's new outfit- personally, the pirate thought it was a tad to silly for his liking, really now, who in their right mind would go around wearing a rainbow colored kimo- "Oh why that's lovely, it really is" Amy said with an amused yet calm voice as she walked over to where the purple haired man was and felt some of the fabric of the outfit. Jack raised an eyebrow underneath his rednosed mask as he watched the exchange, "Happy colors suit you I think, Indeed" Amy stated, somewhat in a happy manner before promptly walking behind Brycen, picking up his old clothes and belongings, and giving them to the shop owner devil, who then simply opened his mouth and swallowed it all in one gulp. Jack winced a bit as he saw the exchange happen- was it customary for people here to give their old clothes away to weird devil clothes shop owners? Either way, the pirate was slightly alarmed to say the least about the whole thing. Amy didn't even seem remotely phased though as she once more grabbed on Brycen's arm in particular and started pulling him out of the shop and back into the busy festival streets. Once more Jack struggled to keep up as the crowded streets grew thicker and thicker. A couple of times the man nearly lost the two as they ran, he could hear Amy telling Brycen, "We have some time before the eclipse, so we should get some food! Yes, I like this idea! Am I good guide?" she both said and asked the doctor all at once without barely registering Jack struggling ot chase after them through the thicket of creatures that crowded the streets- each more outlandish and stranger than the last. Finally though, the fox woman came to a halt in front of what looked like a food stand of sorts, except the foods on display were far different than anything that Jack could have ever imagined. The pirate came to a halt next to Bryen, huffing and puffing, panting as he caught his breath while bending over and putting a hand on his doctor's shoulder, "You... gotta... wait up... Oh lord..." the man said inbetween gasps of air as his red and flustered face looked up at the other man before looking once more at the food cart which was owned by a friendly looking Pig-man. Amy went ahead and spoke some brief words to the pig man before tossing him a few gold coins which he accepted with a good fashioned pig squeal. The cart owner then grabbed what looked like three wooden kebab sticks before sliding on an assortment of different types of meat, before finally sprinkling some sort of seasoning on top of it all and promptly handing it to the fox woma who in turn handed two to Jack and Brycen. The pirate took the gift as well as he could, yet on top of the fact that he was going commando under this kimono, an uncomfortable feat, as well as having to practically sprint through a crowd of monster people, Jack was a little wary of the next big 'new' thing. Amy, however, didn't even give the kebab a second look. In a shocking twist, the woman grabbed her chin and very gently lifted her white face upwards slightly, revealing a pair of crimson red lips which opened to reveal a mouth of pearly white teeth which promptly chomped down on the kebab. Jack's eyes widened open as he realized that all this time Amy had been wearing a mask since they had first met her, "Huh, so you put your mask on before you even left home? Thats some dedication right there" Jack said with a chuckle before eying his own kebab warily once more- was that meat supposed to be that color? After finishing her kebab, Amy silently lowered her mask back down, covering it with a faceless white once more. "It's tradition, one which some like I hold to dearly from beginning to end- although... I guess you could say home is a far ways away from me as well" the woman said, causing Jack's lighthearted mood to feel a little more dour as he looked at the woman, "A forest spirit like me doesn't usually get to come to the capital, we're busy making sure the woods are following their seasons and look after the creatures there- that's when I get to come here it... Well, it just means a lot to someone like me" Amy said, looking down slightly. Now, Jack didn't know anything about any of that spirit talk, he wasn't that up to snuff when it came to crazy things like devils, or monsters, or nature spirits, or stuff like that, but he DID know how to spot someone when they were in a bad mood. "Must be lonely, living out there in the woods then by yourself, looking after all those trees- and this is the only night of the year you can come into the town?" Jack asked, making half of the nature stuff he said up just so he could sound a little bit more well informed than he actually was. Amy nodded silently, still looking down at her empty kebab a bit Oh dear, their guide was in a sad mood, that wouldn't do at all. The rednose masked Jack stepped back slightly before 'accidentally' shoving Brycen forwards a bit, enough so that he would bump into Amy who would in turn stumble back and probably fall unless- oh, maybe something dramatic like the doctor catching her. "Oh dear, how clumsly of me, I suppose these sea legs of mine aren't quite as used to land as I thought" Jack said with a chuckle as he did his best to voluntarily play wingman for the two purple haired chaps. "I don't know about you, but after hearing that, I want to do EEEEEEEEVERYTHING there is to do at this here moon festival thingy. Why, we'll return the favor for you helping us and make sure you have the best night of your little Amateratsusujusju-whatever-life!" Jack said, his rednosed mask head bobbing up and down slightly as he resolved himself to go down with the idea. "My doctor here is one of the best chaps I know after all, he'll go to the ends of the earth to do the right thing, I know he'll make ye happy!" Jack, said grabbing the doctor's shoulder slightly and pushing him forwards a bit so he'd smoosh up against the fox lady. Amy, despite wearing her mask, still seemed shocked from her body language alone. Jack silently ate his strangely-chicken-tasting kebab while he waited for Brycen to say something cool. Come on Doc Boy! |

The man turned for all to see his completely His clothes being thrown away was of course disheartening, but seeing as he had no way to carry them he supposed there wasn’t much he could do about it. Plus, the whole idea of this was something to do with… Being a new you, or something like that. He had plenty of the same clothing back at the ship anyway, so it wasn’t too much of a stress for him to just go back and put them on. Well, that was if they ever got out of this place though. It seemed very busy, but it was nice. Maybe being stuck here wouldn’t end up being so bad? He smiled to himself at the thought, before suddenly being grabbed by the arm and dragged out of the shop. It was a firm, but a soft grip at the same time, so he understood there was no bad intent there as they made their way through the dense crowds. He could hardly keep up, with Amy or the scenery in all honesty. The fireworks were still filling the air overhead which kept his attention on the air for a lot of the time, yet he also had to try and take in the faces of so many weird creatures around him. He’d never seen such a collection of weird people and beings before, and they certainly weren’t human. “Food sounds like a good plan. Of course you’re a good guide!” He smiled at the masked woman, before they continued on towards their destination. It was nice to see someone so excited about things though, and with her rather childlike personality he felt sort of responsible for her. She reminded him of when he was younger, and it was nice to feel sort of homely, even in a place such as where he was now. Eventually though, he had to stop thinking about all the soppy stuff that he was, and instead had to look to the stand in front of him. A weird pig creature stood behind the cart, awaiting any crazy customer that would be willing to buy his odd and outlandish selection of meat. As it turned out, they were apparently crazy enough, as Amy went to pay. Jack appeared beside the doctor, a little out of breath having been forced to work his way through the crowds without a guide dragging him along. The doctor felt sort of bad for him, but at the same time was still caught up in his own little bubble of excitement. If any thoughts for his captain crossed his mind, they were swiftly shooed away by the return of Amy, offering them each a kebab stick of odd meats. She seemed rather quick to take a bite, and even showed off the lower part of her face as she did so, which caught Brycen’s eyes. Apparently, it did for his pirate leader too, who pointed out that she was in fact sticking rather firmly to the mask idea. “He’s got a point there, not to say it doesn’t look good on you.” As the pirate and fox woman began to talk, the doctor spent a little bit of time to reflect, placing a small piece of meat in his mouth. It actually tasted rather good, which hadn’t been expected. At least the people here had the same sort of taste buds as normal people. As he continued to eat, he thought about this whole event once again. The point of it was apparently so they could have a fresh start, every year. Perhaps… Perhaps he should join in and respect that tradition a little bit. He could become a new man, and then improve his life little by little. He led a life that he liked already, but he could become a better man overall, and then gain the respect of everyone and just… Nah, that sounded like effort. Eventually the doctor zoned back in, hearing something about loneliness, which was perhaps the whole reason he was listening now in the first place. It didn’t matter, point was, Amy sounded like she was mildly unhappy, and that wasn’t good. He went to go and console her, but as he began to move, a strong force hit him in his back, causing him to sprawl forwards into her. He yelped in surprise, and almost instantly after so did the fox girl as she began to fall backwards. Managing to steady himself, he threw his arm out, grabbing hold of her arm, and then moving quickly to kneel forwards a bit and get his other arm around her back so that he didn’t put too much pressure on her arm either. Amy’s shout was sort of cute, but Brycen didn’t have much time to think on that as he began to try and raise her to her feet. She was surprisingly light, even for her rather small frame, which was a bit odd. Lifting her up, he made sure she was steady, and then patted her down a little bit, awkwardly but carefully. She seemed a little stunned still, but she was ok and there were no injuries. Over the sound of his heartbeat in his head, the doctor could just about make out Jack’s apology, before going on to talk about their plans. A scowl grew on his face, and he turned to have a go, before the pin finally dropped. He grinned at the man, and his heart did a little skip of the beat thingy. Just another thing he’d need to thank the world’s best wingman for. “You’re too kind Jack, although I guess there is some sort of truth in that. I’ll… We’ll… Uhm… You’re gonna have a great night, trust me milady” Despite the amazing set up that he’d been given, his choice of words was still kind of poor. Amy didn’t seem to mind though, and with a little physical encouragement from Jack, they ended up a lot closer than expected. With one arm around her back, Brycen decided to be a little daring and pulled her into a hug, half expecting her to push away. He was blushing quite a bit, to the point where he hardly noticed the fact that he still held her hand from where he’d helped her up, having dropped his remaining food in surprise. He could always eat later so that was fine. “So… Where would you like to go first?” |

Jack watched as Brycen stuttered a bit in what the pirate had been hoping to be a somewhat more impactful and supportive gesture. Still, the response from the somewhat flustered somewhat suspicious Amy was enough to cause the blond to crack a small smile, "You'd do everything? Just to help a stranger like me?" the woman asked, a bit surprised by the sudden friendliness of the two men. Had this been some normal woman, Jack was certian there would be more red flags going off in her head, yet, Amy seemed to sense that neither Jack nor Brycen had any malicious intentions about them as they stood there expectedly in their strange garb and masks. "N-No, it would be improper for you to feel obligated to help me, I-I'm the guide after all this is just a momentary arrangme- Oh enough gab, let's get going!" Jack said, interrupting Amy who in turn was answering Brycen's statement that they'd do anything she felt like doing for the night. Amy looked between the two men expectantly, as if she herself was now trying to ponder if this was really real, "What kind of yokai are you two who would befriend a stranger so easily?" Jack rolled his eyes a bit, he was getting tired of all this back and forth talk, they would be here all night if this continued, "We ain't no yokai lady, we're pirates!- and as a salty sea swabbing pirate, I say we plunder this town and make off with as much as we can stomach before the night is over! Aye?" Jack shouted, causing some of the nearby monsters to frown a bit before Amy trepidatiously answered mostly out of instinct, "Aye!". "Good, now take the wolf-mask here and get going!" Jack said, forcibly taking Amy's hand and putting it tightly on Brycen's arm. Amy hesitated for a moment before nodding and grabbing the purple haired man's arm and taking off down the street once again. Underneath his rednosed mask, Jack's grin widened a bit. Except until he realized he was going to have to start running through the crowd again to keep up. Goddamn it. Jack broke out of his momentary pause and promptly started making his way through the long and teeming streets of The Forbidden Palace. He could spot Amy excitedly tugging Brycen through the spaces inbetween crowds of creatures and monsters. The beasts seemed as jovial as any Jack had ever seen back home. They drunk their fill, laughed until their faces were red and their sides hurt, or danced until their feet were metling- literally in some cases. All in all, Jack had never been to such a great party. He could feel his worries about getting home fading away more and more the more he spent time here or learned more about this place. He had never heard of Purra-gyot before, but he knew without a shadow of a doubt that he wanted to come back again with his crew if all the big shindigs were like this. The man eventually caught up with Amy and Brycen, who were sampling what looked like some form of rock candy, although this was only for a moment as once more they were running through the streets again. Indeed, this pattern of running into a shop, or corner stall, or shadow-puppet theater, etc., continued well into the night, the three running around the bright and colorful lantern-lit city as they tried to do as much as they physically could. Jack had lost track of time by the time that he finally caught up with Amy and Brycen as they stopped for the umpteenth time that night, this time in front of what looked like a large red multi-floored building in the center of a lush and green park. "Why are you so slow? The purple one manages to keep up just fine!" Amy said, looking at Jack who was practically on all fours crawling on the cobblestone sidewalk to keep up with the two ahead of him. The man simply panted, collecting himself as he realized, in a somewhat surprising twist, that he hadn't even introduced himself or his partner's names yet, "Jack.... Brycen...." the man said inbetween heaves of air, first pointing to himself than up towards his compatriot in the rainbow kimono. Amy straightened up a bit, realizing her mistake in not returning the favor earlier by asking the two strangers their name until just now- hell, maybe if she managed to stop for two seconds she might remember to. Jack grumbled a bit as he got back up to his feet, his red nose mask accenting his already 'grumbly' looking face. "Erm, yes, well- whatever, guess what though! You two are in for a treat!" the fox woman said before pointing up at the sign above them which said.... 'The Happy Hovel'. Immediately Jack's mind went to a lewd corner, remembering some of the red light district establishments he had seen when he was homeless. "It's a bath house, you go in and mix and mingle while you soak up the hot spring waters, I heard its good fun" Amy said excitedly before disappearing into the building, walking through a curtain which acted as the door. Jack rolled his eyes a bit and walked inside after the fox woman, intrigued somewhat and keen to relax a tad after working up a voracious sweat chasing the two purple haired explorers.
A few short words with the owner of the bath house by Amy, and a couple minutes later Jack found himself sitting in perhaps the biggest bath he had ever seen. There were so many bubbles that the bath was practically overflowing with them onto the floor, which was carefully cleaned and maintained by some small geen frog people that hopped from place to place with mops and buckets of water. The pirate captain kept his mask on, after insistence from Amy, and watched some of the other strange and downright mysterious creatures come and go through the bath house as they pleased. For a moment, the man suddenly realized once again that neither he nor Brycen had any idea how to get home after this night was over... yet, for some reason, he didn't feel all that worried about it,like everything would wind up being alright somehow. Jack took some solace in that, and rested his head back, letting the hot water relax his body. His bones and muscles were still healing from his 'fight' with Tolbjorn and Cogan on Desertia, sitting here like this made him feel somewhat more human again. The man opened his one eye from under his mask as he heard voices coming towards the bath stall that Amy had rented out for the three of them. Its strange, Jack had somehow wound up being the first at someplace for once instead of chasing after the purple haired pals, what could have been taking th- Jack's body immediately tensed up as he saw new figures stroll into view. At the front of the pack was Amy, who wore merely a towel to cover her feminine features. Accompanying amy though, were perhaps some of the most strangely attractive yet clearly non-human individuals that Jack had laid eyes on. First was a vaguely human yet still somewhat feral and wild looking woman with wings for arms, the next a woman with a snake instead of a lower body, and finally a dark skinned woman with fire for hair and eyes that looked like burning coals. Jack watched, frozen in place by a mixture of things, as the four women continued to talk before promptly dropping their towels and slipping into the bath where they continued to chat. It took a bit for Jack to regain his senses, for surely they had been shocked, still, it wasn't the strangest thing he had seen that night of all things. |

Brycen stepped back a little bit, to give the woman a little bit of space to breathe and talk, as well as think. He didn’t want to be all leechy, as… Well actually he did, but he knew it wouldn’t end well, for although he generally wasn’t the best with women, he had some sort of understanding of Amy, not that he got why. She seemed rather shocked that the two men were so willing to go along with her to all these different locations, which made him smirk a little bit. There was something about being unpredictable or surprising that was kind of satisfying, and he was pretty sure it was one of the thrills all humans enjoyed in life. It appeared Jack didn’t seem to be enjoying it quite as much, and quickly stopped her from escaping the adventures around The Forbidden Temple, or whatever it was called. They both knew that she was looking forwards to it, and knew that she was just being polite when she really just wanted to run around and enjoy it all. By the sounds of it, she rarely got any days off, so to finally have some fun in a place like this, it must have been nice. He supposed it was similar to him finally have some time away from the others, for although they were great friends, he didn’t get a moments rest with them about. “You sure you should be shouting that out? Besides, I’ll have you know I’m a doctor, not a pirate. I just… Hang out with pirates” His argument began to fall apart a little bit, but he still felt that he shouldn’t have been called a pirate. Technically he didn’t have a single beli bounty on his head, but at the same time he technically also had a decent amount, due to the marines not knowing him and Rune-Guy were actually… Kind of close. Plus if people heard him yelling that, then they might jump them, but who knew? He decided that if he let it slide, so would other people, and he began focusing more on the fact that Amy was now attached to his arm rather tightly, dragging him along. For a while, the world seemed to go by in an enjoyable blur. The two weaved almost effortlessly through the crowd, as if it wasn’t there at all, checking out all the stalls that they could find. He paid little attention to the locals at this point, despite their rather odd looks, simply down to the fact that he was too busy enjoying his time with his adventuring partner. Tasting all different kinds of freebies was something the doctor certainly enjoyed, seeing as he had a little bit of a stomach as it was, and filling it up was always enjoyable. It was difficult walking after eating so much from all the stands, but he didn’t mind, and continued to walk along, looking at all the different games as well, and taking part in a few too. One stool in particular stood out, with a rather faire ground theme, in which you had to hook ducks on the end of a stick, and then the corresponding number gave you a prize. After struggling with one for a while, Brycen assisted Amy in catching one in particular which stood out, hooking it on the end and winning a grand prize of… Nothing. A shame, but sometimes that’s just how things went, and it was still a lot of fun. “What kind of con is this old man?” After complaining to the man running the stool for a while, eventually the two moved away and continued on their adventure through the weird, brightly lit land. It had been years since he’d gone to anything like this, and it hadn’t been anywhere near as exciting. There had been about six stools, and the most entertaining part was sneaking away with bottles full of alcohol with some friends and almost falling unconscious from the extreme amounts of drink they got through. Good times. The two eventually came to a halt in front of a large building, unlike the stools which they had been visiting previously. It was a large, red building, made of many floors with “The Happy Hovel” written on the front. It sounded friendly enough, and he smiled a little bit at the sight of it, assuming he’d have somewhere to sit down inside. He was pretty tired in all honesty. As he looked around it, he heard a noise behind him, and turned to find Jack just catching up, looking pretty tired, and ready to collapse. Whoops, he’d forgotten all about the man. Being referred to as purple was a little odd for Brycen, as he stood there listening to the two’s conversation again. He hadn’t been called that since he was young, and even then it hadn’t been by someone like Amy. He nodded as Jack introduced them though, and then listened intently to what the woman had to say. His ears picked up a little bit as he heard the words “bath house” and “mix and mingle” within the same sentence. Did that mean he’d already get to spend that sort of time with her? No, he had to think maturely. He was a grown adult goddammit, he had to be sensible and shouldn’t be thinking about all the types of things that could happen in places like that. “Sounds great, let’s go!” In all honesty, Brycen had never actually been in such a place as this, the closest he’d come being bathing with another individual, or swimming in the sea with lots of people. So, of all the times to manage to get mildly lost, now wasn’t the best. He’d managed to take his time getting changed, and so Jack had naturally gone ahead to bathe, but after walking out of the wrong door, he was now searching for the correct booth to join his friends in. Dammit, he just wanted to bathe with his new fox friend, and now he had to run about in a gown and some really weird, body tight wraps to find them. Curse his runes, if it weren’t for those, he could bathe with his muscly bare body on show for people to see. He wasn’t into that sort of thing, but he didn’t mind making an exception for some people. After what felt like a millennia searching, and running into the wrong places, eventually he found the right place, poking his head through a door and noticing a familiar, one eyed, red mask wearing man. Excitedly, he bounded over towards the water, managing to stop himself at the edge. Carefully, he dropped his robe to expose his completely bandaged body, done twice over for safety. As he went to get in, he turned to look at the fox girl, noticing only then the range of other girls there, all rather… Not clothed. And on that day, Brycen experienced two things for the first time (more than two but oh well). Firstly, he experienced his first ever group bath. Secondly, he performed his first ever belly flop into a public bath, additionally creating a huge wave around him after freaking out a |

Jack was still a bit miffed about getting all wet from the belly flop that Brycen had done into the large bath tub, but decided to simply let it go. Instead, the pirate simply shot the wolf-masked doctor a quick frown, which was accented by the rednosed mask that he wore. Once this momentary thought had passed, the pirate closed his eyes and sank down a bit into the extremely bubbly hot tub, he could feel the hot water soaking against his weary bones. It felt so good... "Doc Boy- write this down somewhere for later... First thing to do when we become filthy rich pirates is get a massive jacoozi or something like this and put it on our ship" the pirate mused to himself, not really thinking too much beyond the momentary thoughts. Who knew what would happen now that the crew had entered the grand line? They had 5 people in their group now, certainly more than Jack had ever thought to acquire so early in his pirate career. The man smiled a bit at that, his mind drifting away as he relaxed more and more in the bubble filled bath... He was really doing it, living his and Avery's dream... Still... Jack opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling. "Hey Brycen, what do you think we're doing anyways?" Jack asked the purple haired man who was wearing the strange body suit. What was up with that anyways? Regardless, the pirate continued to speak to his doctor while amy talked with her new friends, "-I mean, what are we after, you know? What goal are we trying to accomplish?" the man asked, his mind still a bit troubled by the question. Were they trying to become the strongest crew in the world? Maybe the richest? It was something that the blond had never really had time to think about, he had always been searching so long to try and form his own crew that he never contemplated what to do next after that was finished. Maybe Doc Boy would have some ideas? Still, that didn't stop Jack from daydreaming a bit, "-heh, maybe one day we'll be able to find our way back here. Maybe by then we'll be a famous pirate crew?" Jack asked his friend before slipping a bit deeper into the bath, closing his eyes as he thought to himself, "Mhm... maybe we'll find Raftel..." he mused, seeing himself sliding down a mountain of golden treasure and loot with his crew as they stood on top of the wor- Something brushed against Jack in a dangerous place. The man's eyes snapped open as he popped a bit out of the water in surprised. Looking around a bit, the pirate tried to see who was pulling off a very sensual yet sneaky ninja prank. The answer soon came when he found himself sitting next to the half-snake woman that Amy had brought with him, "Sorry, sometimes this tale has a mind of its own, Kishishishi~" the woman said, laughing to herself while still managing to scare Jack half to death with the large looking fangs she was sporting in place of her canines. The man gave a wary look before frowning a tad and sinking his mouth underwater to blow some bubbles, his red nose bobbing on the surface as he did so. "We heard your helping our friend Amaterasu, one of us nature spirits- that's sooooooo kind, usually people end to try and avoid us you see, something about bad omens or whatever" the dark haired fire human said, gently flowing through the water to shimmy up to Brycen a bit. Jack looked around the scene a bit, while he was certainly a 'free' man in these circumstances, he found that a part of him was skeptical of the advances of these non-human strangers. "Is it true that you two don't have matesssss? That's abssssolutely horrid! We can't let that ssssstand on the moon festival of all nightssss! Esssspecially after you helped one of ussssssss" the snake woman said, as she curled her tail around Jack's leg pulling him closer to her so she could have presumably an intense cuddle session at least. Amy seemed silent as she watched the scene unfold, whether from shyness or whatever, Jack couldn't tell- the white mask she wore made it impossible to tell what the fox-woman was thinking. Jack raised an eyebrow though when the creature, in a move which surprised Jack a bit, moved over and promptly shoved the fire woman off of her spot and sat down next to Brycen, "Hello" was all she said, in a tone which Jack thought he might have been able to pin down as nervousness. Jack smiled a bit as he watched the cute exchan, "Ow!" Jack sharply yelped as he felt a pair of pricks on his right shoulder which the snake woman was sensually cuddling. Jack looked and frowned at seeing the stranger coyly and lightly nibbling on him a bit- an act which actually hurt a tad considering the large fangs she sported despite having a human upper body. Despite the man's frown, the snake woman didn't seem phased and instead simply rested her chin on the pirates shoulder, "Mhmmmm" "Bryceeeeen, I wannnna goooooo-umrph" Jack began to whine before he felt the snake woman's tail coil around his torso, ending by covering up his mouth. Oh dear, this was going to be one of those nights out wasn't it? The man could only watch through his rednose mask as Amy and the other two strange nonhuman women practically ignored that Jack had been coiled up, instead focusing on Brycen intently, "So. Uhh....Ummmmm." Amy said aloud to the purple haired man, "What kind of yokai are you? Yeah, that's a good question!" the woman said, first with nerovusness before finishing with a determined tone. Jack himself, wasn't sure what his partner would say, the man tried to speak but his voice was once again muffled by the snake woman's tail, "SSSSSSSSSshhhhhhhhhh" the woman hissed in a hushed voice before promptly pulling the pirate underwater and out of sight. Knowing that the blond human was probably fine, Amy kept talking, "-I've never seen anyone like you before, no horns, no elements, nothing... You must be really great!" the woman quickly said aloud before falling silent once more. Jack broke through the surface and gasped for air, "UGH!" he grunted as he inhaled oxygen. There were numerous small purple lip marks on him, strange considering they were in water. "Brycen can we please go- WAGH!" the man began to speak before he was promptly pulled underwater again as quick as a flash. Amy didn't seem to notice nor care about the disturbance, "Where are you from anyways? A different kingdom?" she asked, scooting a bit closer to the doctor, "I wish I could see it, I wish I could leave the forest more than once a year like tonight- maybe then I'd be able to have friends like you and Jack!" she said before the aforementioned blond burst through the air again, gulping per air and covered in more lip marks as he tried to stay afloat by hanging onto the side of the bath, "Oh gods, her tongue, she's not hum- AAAAAAGH!" he began to speak before he was pulled under the water once more. Finally though, Amy asked a more important question, "Please, let me come with you two! I-I want to get out of this kingdom and see the world! I don't want to go back to the forest and live the rest of my life changing the seasons!" the fox woman said, an edge of desperation in her voice. |

After realising his mistake, Brycen quickly corrected himself by floating over towards Jack, positioning himself next to the pirate, and submerging himself a decent amount, so that the lower half of his face couldn’t be seen. He’d been so shocked that he’d ended up freezing up and then falling forwards, soaking most of the inhabitants of the bath. His mask had managed to remain on though, as had his bandages, so it wasn’t all bad news, albeit he now had slightly annoyed half-humans looking at him. Thankfully, the one that looked to be on fire was still ablaze, which meant the water hadn’t been too bad, seeing as otherwise it’d have gone out. As he sort of just floated there in the water, he listened to Jack’s musings, asking about what they were going to do, and what their goals were. The doctor thought to himself, not really sure. At first he thought the question was about how they’d escape the land of partying, but he soon realised that he was referencing them as a pirate crew. Dipping his head a tiny bit further underwater, he breathed out of his nose and created a few extra bubbles, before moving back up, entertaining himself as he thought. “Well… We do what any other crew does I guess” He continued to think to himself. It was a tough question when he thought on it. They were a group of people, breaking the law and running from the marines, adventuring through distant lands and looking for treasure. At which point, the thought finally hit him. He’d considered the question of why a pirate captain of all people was having a crisis such as this, which had then managed to lead him to something else. The whole idea of piracy on these seas. “We search for treasure sure, the biggest and greatest, but there’s something more. Out here, it isn’t about your money, or your possessions, it’s what being a pirate means. It’s about being a freeman, and knowing that you can make your own justice and your own rules. Hell, we could even change the world if we really tried, I’m sure of it. Just imagine all the rules we could change…” His surprisingly pirate-like speech began to turn south as his thoughts turned perverse, and he began laughing to himself. The idea of being able to control the rules of an island made him mildly power hungry, aware that he could do so many evil yet genius things with that power. Before he could get carried away though, there was a disturbance in the The bath was warm, but suddenly the doctor felt it getting a little bit warmer, as another individual approached. He instantly recognised it was the woman who had a head of fire, and felt a little bit awkward. He’d been getting close to Amy just before this, and now she’d brought her friends along, who were getting close to him. Things were confusing, and he wasn’t sure how to act, but… The flamey one did seem kind of nice he supposed, and she was sounding kind of… He couldn’t pin it down, but she was sitting rather close to him now. Deciding he may as well, he smirked at her, speaking his mind a little bit as he did so: “Well of course. I’ve never heard of these omen rumours, but I’m sure they’re just falsities from a long gone prank or something” The thought of one of these harmless creatures bringing bad omens was just ridiculous to him. He wasn’t even being harmed by the flames erupting from this one’s head, so they really couldn’t be dangerous at all, or at least that’s how he thought of it. However, in a turn of events, before he could continue his conversation, the woman was forced out of her spot, and Amy took her place. He hadn’t been expecting this, but he didn’t complain. Although he felt he would have enjoyed the others “spirits” company, he knew that this was where he was meant to be. “Hi” As soon as she placed herself next to him, his awkwardness seemed to alleviate. He certainly wasn’t one to be shy, especially around women, but this whole scenario was unknown to him, and so he’d previously been unsure how to act. Now though, he was practically in his element, which meant that he had more confidence, and a much higher chance to say something completely outrageous or dumb. “You’ve been mentioning that term a lot. Yokai… I still don’t really get what it means, but I mean… I guess I’m a medical one. Yeah. I know my way around the human anatomy, so I can patch you up when you get injured, as well as… Y’know” His attempts to waggle his eyebrows similar to how Cream usually did failed miraculously as he realised he wasn’t any good at it. This probably saved him from being called out as a pervert or something, not that he realised or cared. Instead he continued to look at Amy, wondering what all this technical stuff meant. “A different kingdom? Huh, I guess you could say that. I’m from Swiftbreeze, ever heard of it?” By the sounds of it, she probably wouldn’t have, especially as when she continued, she explained that she’d never left this place. Despite being indoors, his eyes still strayed around the room, as if she had been confined to merely this public bath room. “You have your friends here though don’t you? But I mean… There’s nothing stopping you, right?” Nearby, Brycen could vaguely make out the sounds of violent splashing, and his eyes rolled mildly as he suspected that he and the snake girl were getting to know each other a little better. Typical Jack. It was when Amy moved forwards a little and asked to come with them, to leave the forest and to stop changing seasons or something, that he was surprised by it all. “To come with us? I mean… If Jack doesn’t have a problem with it…” He peered past the girl, noticing his head pop out of the water briefly, looking already rather exhausted from his time with Miia over there. Damn, this was a place to relax, come on now! “I’m sure he’d be fine with it. You’d really want to join us though? We’re kind of a busy bunch after all, and I mean… Well I can always introduce you to them, that’d be great. Let me think now… There’s me, the doctor. Jack, the leader of us merry folk. Then, there’s Cream, the spirit of the bedroom, Clyde the spirit of sewers, Tessa the spirit of brea-…kfast? We’ve got some other no name scrubs too, but…” He looked up at her, realising he’d been looking away. “Hmm, what's wrong?” |

Amy seemed captivated as Brycen listed off the members of the crew and told her a brief summary of the Maelstrom pirates, sans the usually mindfuckery that accompanied them wherever they went. As the man spoke, Jack once more managed to pull himself up to the surface of the hot bath, wrapping an arm around the steel ladder in an attempt to keep himself up while he tried to catch his breath- Cream might have been able to handle this sort of attention without breaking a sweat, but Jack not so much! The pirate at first thought that his grip was strong enough to keep him above the surface, but, much to his amazement, the metal ladder slowly began to bend as the anaconda like tail of the snake woman pulled at him with inhuman force, "Avaaaaaaaas-" the pirate yelped before being yanked underwater again for like the fourth time. The scene was borderline comical at this point if not uncomfortable for others to watch. Still, Amy didn't seem to mind any of that, instead staring back at the purple haired man. "Well, of course I have my friends but... I mean... I just feel so, so, so trapped wandering the forests is all- I want to explore, to see the world! To go on adventures!" the woman said, her voice more impassioned the more she spoke. "There must be so many interesting yokai out there to meet! So many demons, and spirits, and monsters yet to be discovered! Haven't you ever just beed alone one night and wondered what's on the other side of the horizon?" she asked, scooting closer to the purple haired man. She was oblivious to Jack as he for once calmly floated back up to the surface, the snake-tailed woman under one arm as he floated in an oh so relaxed and comfortable manner, "Actually, belay that order Doc Boy, I think I could learn to like the locals around here..." the man said, his red nosed mask poking outwards and dripping with hot water. Additionally, for once, amy acknowledged the man, "Jack! Can I join your crew?" the woman asked loudly, an act which startled some of the other spirits. Jack didn't care that much though and simply lazily waved a hand, his mind was glowing a bit from all the steam- well, mostly the steam. "Yeah, sure thing- whatever" he said with a small smile not really thinking too much of the proposal. He had picked up a bunch of crazies so far after all, what was one more? Hell, maybe she'd be one of the less psychotic ones! Amy's friends though seemed to hiss in disgust, the snake woman included, "Don't ssssssay sssssuch foolisssssssh thingssss!" the snake replied, turning her attention away from the willing prey to the masked woman. "It is our duty to preserve the order of nature, it has been our duty since the beginning of time- our existence would be pointless without such a task! Have you lost your wits Amaterasu?" the fire woman stated angrily. Jack looked around at the sudden change in atmosphere, where was all this weird pseudo-religious hostility coming from? The man sinked down into the bubblebath a bit as he tried to fade away from view as best as possible. Amy stood up a bit, "Just because you're content to waste away your life living in the shadow of some sacred law made centuries ago doesn't mean I want to!" the woman said, wagging her finger angrily at the fire woman who's fire began to increase dramatically in size despite still being soaking wet. Jack's eyes widened as he felt himself and his partner becoming tangled in a rather unsavory web, "So, why don't we just, uhm, go back to relaxing? Arrgh?" the man asked tossing in a pirate jargon at the end for good measure. Amy frowned, "No, I think I've had my fill of the bath for tonight- let us depart" she said before forcefully grabbing Brycen's arm as she clambored out of the bath and threw on a robe in a jiffy- hoping to get both the humans moving. Jack frowned as he realized it was time to go, what a pain, and he was just starting to let go of his inhibitions a bit too- what rotten luck. Reluctantly though, the pirate pulled himself out of the bath, much to the dismay of his bathing partner, and threw on his robe before quietly walking back to the changing room where he could shower and throw on his festival clothes. He assumed Brycen would probably do the same. Once this was done, the pirate would wait for the two purple haired folk outside of the Bath House back on the main street. Despite how late it was, the festival only now seemed to be even more intense and, well, festive, than before! Jack smiled a bit as he saw some younger monsters run through the streets holding small firecrackers in their hands... Ahh, pyromaniacs, they really did start young didn't they? Jack mused to himself before he heard footsteps behind him, spotting Amy approaching him. "I... Apologize... For my outburst earlier...." the fox woman said, her personality becoming cold once more, similar to how the two men had met her when they had stumbled across the barge in the middle of the forest. Jack shrugged, "It's alright matie, if a sea didn't have a storm once and a while it wouldn't be much of a sea then now ould it? Savy?" the man proposed to which amy replied, "What on earth are you talking about?" to which Jack died a bit inside and whimpered, "Nevermind" before falling silent to lick his pirate wounds to his pride. Once Brycen came out though, the woman became a bit more warm, "Ah, Brycen, fantastic- now we can continue..." she said before hesitating a bit as she looked at the man. Jack frowned a tad as he saw the movement, was there something troubling her? The mask made it awfully difficult for even someone fairly well knowledgable about such things like Jack feel stumped. Regardless, amy recovered quite well, "I know, I've taken you to do all of my favorite things so far- so why don't you both take me to do things that sound fun to you? Is there anything from your homelands that would be fun to do?" the woman asked, stuttering a bit as she spoke. Jack shrugged and looked to Brycen for his thoughts, what did the man have in mind? |

Brycen frowned, thinking to himself. Most people liked to settle down and spend their lives somewhere, making a life for themselves and having as much fun as possible, probably not seeing many other places whilst out there. But… There were those few kinds of people that liked to see the world, and experience everything that there is to be experienced. Sure, a lot of experiences could happen whilst you stay at home, but at the same time… The greatest of wonders could only ever be seen whilst travelling. All those high mountains, beautiful forests, sweeping landscapes filled with water and flowers, only able to be experienced when travelling the world. “I suppose we’ve found our goal then” He smiled to himself, realising that with the freedom of piracy, he could see all the beautiful things he’d wanted to, albeit not in the same company. But, he had other company now, company that couldn’t be compared to any others. The people he’d ended up surrounding himself with, they weren’t like any other type of people he’d met before, and everyone one of them was unique in their own way. He’d experienced the vast sands of Desertia with these people, and their hidden tombs containing treasure and the Lich King. He’d sailed the seas and ascended Reverse Mountain with them too, and now they were here on Cactus, in a beautiful and oddly inhabited forest, with a huge festival like no other. The doctor nodded slowly as Amy talked about all the yokai that she could meet, and all the creatures they could face together. Suddenly he began to envisage the future, and how, slowly but surely they could collect more and more crew members to adventure with, growing in size as a crew, as if they were some form of dysfunctional family. Well, he was thinking this, until he realised that’d make Jack the father of the group, and it made him feel a little bit ill inside. Shaking his head slowly, he noticed their captain floating towards them, the image of happiness printed on his face, as the fox girl asked if she could join. “That’s that then” Brycen laughed to himself, ignoring the disappointed comments coming from the other women which were with them. He didn’t particularly mind what they said, seeing as right now he only had eyes for the one with fox ears, and if she wanted to be happy and join them, then they couldn’t stop her. If they tried to, then he’d stop their attempts. He wasn’t about to let some silly animal people stop anyone part of the crew achieving their goals, even Clyde. He felt suddenly kind of excited, as he realised that slowly but surely, this whole group of rule breakers was growing on him, and he was becoming more and more willing to take part in it. Who cared if he got a bounty? He’d make sure everyone was happy and healthy, whether it took medicine or a fight. Sinking further into the water, the doctor continued to think about all the things the crew would end up getting to do. He’d always wanted to challenge himself and climb a mountain or something crazy, and with the people he’d managed to surround himself with, he knew they’d be willing to do something like that, albeit with a little bit of convincing or blackmail, and knowing their luck it’d end up causing some sort of issue, like resurrecting another Lich King, called Bantu Reaper or something silly. Of course, in kind he would help the others with their goals too, for example he’d help Amy to see the world, Jack to become a strong and independent pirate, Clyde to… Bathe in more dirt, and Cream to… Uh… UH! “Aw, already?” Looking up at the girl who was already clambering out, he suddenly felt a firm grip on his arm, and was swiftly pulled from the water, grumbling all the way as he did so. He scooped up the robe he’d brought in and put it on, before heading to the changing rooms with Jack to clean off and dry up. He made sure to take longer than his captain, in order to avoid being seen with the runes across his body. In all honesty, it was a miracle that he’d managed to keep his secret for so long, although he was constantly messing things up. Earlier for example, he forgot to mention Rune-Guy, which although wasn’t an obvious give away, surely it’d raise suspicions. A few minutes later, Brycen walked out onto the streets, instantly noticing the drop in temperature which made him mildly uncomfortable. As it was, his festive clothing wasn’t at all helping with keeping his core temperature up, and so his usually stuffy hero clothing was actually being rather helpful right now, acting as another layer of protection and warmth, albeit only on the lower half of his body. “Hey, shh now.” He smiled at her, realising that she still felt like they’d been doing everything for her, and that she felt she was a nuisance and made things difficult. Of course she hadn’t, but he still felt bad about it and all. Walking a bit towards her, he thought to himself for another moment, before continuing his sentence: “You’ve not been a bother at all. It’s been fun, and we get to experience this more often than you do by the sounds of it, so it's only fair. But… If you insist. Do you have any rides around here? We’ve looked at all the stores, but perhaps are there any faster paced thinnymajigs? Like… A rollercoaster, or bumper cars, or even a Ferris wheel?” Due to the fireworks and the sheer amount of stalls, he hadn’t kept an eye out for any large structures like that, and so he began to look around in hope of spotting one. He liked the idea of going on one, simply because the thrill of being high in the sky, without actually falling to your death, was something he was sure would be fun. It was similar to why he liked the idea of hiking up a mountain, apart from for the view and the pride behind it. Plus, if Amy got scared then… Y’know, bonuses and all. |

"Roller Coaster?... Ferris Wheel? What are those? I've never heard of those things..." asked as she spoke with a rather puzzled voice. Jack frowned a bit under his red nosed mask, what was with this strange island- or kingdom- or whatever, and it seeming so secluded from the outside world? Were they in some sort of remote island on the other side of the planet? Still, the blond tried to explain as best he could to help Brycen make his point across, "You know, Roller Coasters- you get on one, you go fast, its almost like you're flying?" the man explained, trying to explain the motions of one as best as he could in his head. Really though, he hadn't been on many himself. Growing up on Greensland, the only rides like what Brycen was describing was once or twice a year, and even then the blond was always scared of the big kid rides so he had never gone on many growing up. Amy paused for a moment or two, blankling staring from behind her mask at Jack and Brycen beofre standing up a bit straighter suddenly as if a light had just turned on, "Oh! Why yes, we have those things! Why that's a grand idea, I love it, it'll be fantastic!" Amy said before promptly grabbing onto Brycen's arm again and taking off down the streets of The Forbidden Palace once more. Jack chased after the two as best he could as per usual. The sights and sounds of the festival continued to numb his senses though as he ran along. The man bumped into a few people here and there, following in the wake of the two purple haired runners, and earning a monstrous growl or terse words from angry frog or pig people. Fortunately for the pirate captain, their next stop wasn't that far. Jack noticed as he chased the fox-woman and his doctor that the buildings were becoming less dense, and the three of them were now back at the side of the lake, about half a mile from the docks where they had all landed. As the man came to a halt, he found himself standing in front of a tall, tower-like, building. There were no doors at its base, and instead a large wooden platform which rested on the street. Amy got onto the strange platform, casing Jack to jump on as well, before the former pulled a small rope running along the side of the tower. Looking up, the man heard a bell going off high above him. A few minutes afterwards, the blond felt the platform beneath him lift off the ground suddenly, slowly lifting himself, Amy, and presumably Brycen, upwards. Jack swayed a bit as he tried to keep his balance as he and the others started moving upwards. The festival goers all below them seemed small and distant now, the lanterns moving along the streets being the only real defining feature. Still, the man calmed his fears, he and Brycen had managed to defeat an undead zombie king after all, this was easy, right? Jack hoped so, as the platform finally came to a stop in front of a large door built into the top of the wooden tower. The man watched as Amy knocked approximately eight times before a voice spoke from the other side, "Hrm? Yes? What? What is it? Here to rent an air spirit?" a gruff voice asked, "Oh yes please, I have guests from far far away and I'd like to show them the night sky as a gift!" Amy replied excitedly. A small sliding hole appeared and a pair of large green eyes peered through the door at the three figures, "Foreigners, eh? Alright missy ye convinced me, I'll show you all a good time- on the house in honor of the moon goddess" the voice said, before the wooden door was promptly opened revealing the owner of the voice. As Jack followed Amy into the tower room, he noticed the strange humanoid figure with multiple arms eating copious amounts of fish. "Close the door behind ye! Don't want to let the cold in!" the man snapped causing Jack to swiflty close the door behind him as eh walked into the small yet warm and cozy home. Amy dropped a few golden coins on the desk where the old multi-armed man was eating who then nodded silently as his only reply. The fox woman looked back to the two men, before chuckling, "You two seem confused, have you never ridden an air spirit before back home?" she asked with a confused voice. The multi-armed man pulled a large lever next to him causing the door they had just come from to open up once again, without the platform this time. Jack frowned as he looked at the purple haired woman, than to the strange old man who the pirate presumed ran this place as a buisness of sorts, then finally back to the open door. "Perfect, now we jump!" Amy yelped before running back across the room and jumping out of the open door of the side of the tower, presumably freefalling downwards. The blond was too shocked by the movement to realize wha thad just happened until it was too late. Was the woman mad? "What-What on earth?" the man said before looking back to the old man who, for some reason, spoke almost like osmeone Jack and Brycen had recently met, "You two'd best not be waiting, sooner or later that moon will set and the fun will be over" the voice of Libra said with a wink before the old man said in his normal voice, "Don't stand there you two, step lively!" before stretching two of his absurdly long arms to push the two men forwards a bit. Jack steeled his nerves, and jumped out of the tower. -and immediately landed on something soft. Jack's heart raced a mile a minute as he grabbed onto a soft, warm, surface which he was now lying down on face first. The man had clenched his eyes tightly shut, but, realizing he was no longer freefalling to his death, now opened them slowly one at a time. Looking at what looked like white fur, the man turned his head upwards to look ahead of him to see just what exactly he was on. What he saw caused his face to pale. "It... It can't be, they don't exist, this is a dream!" Jack stammered out as he looked in horror at perhaps the most beautiful creature he had ever seen, a White Dragon. The creature purred a bit as it looked back at the three that were now on its back. Amy didn't seem to be phased whatsoever by the appearance of a legendary creature such as the one they were now riding on, "Hold on tight, or you'll fall and probably die" she said casually with a certain amount of giddy excitement before the dragon cracked its tail and began flying off into the night sky above the lake. |
