"Ah, but Captain, to these robots, the electrical power is their life force so in a way I did kill them. So what was that bet again, I be captain for a week? It is high time that changes were made for the better in this crew." Vincent replied, his voice light enough that Hideo should get that he was joking. Though even if the captain did not get the joking tone, the pirate was not really planning on doing much of anything as an acting captain. After all, he would much rather hole up in his lab and work on his cybernetics rather than order the crew around. Hideo got a kick out of that and kudos to him, but that was something that the inventor never had an inclination for. Being put in charge of people was really not his thing. Either way, with the robots down, they now had some breathing room before the Marines arrived to search through this place and hopefully find something of value. If not, they would not really get another chance to search for another room. "Keep an eye out for anything exceptionally powerful or anything that we can use as our signature weapon." the doctor mentioned idly as he walked over to one of the tables and started rifling through the papers on top of it. The more he looked at he papers, the more pronounced the first mate's frown became. These papers had nothing useful on them. Well, there were some interesting things here and there but nothing that he could apply to either his cybernetics or to making weapons. Was this just a storage area that didn't really contain any special designs? That was certainly possible but why hide it? There had to be something here. Briefly glancing at the wall in front of him, Vincent noticed that there was a slightly different shade of paint in one place of the wall but not in another. It was almost as if there was something hanging on the wall at some point but was now gone. Further examination confirmed that that was indeed the case. "Seems like either someone was here before us or Arcadia took everything before she escaped. Did you find anything interesting?" the inventor asked, his voice somewhat displeased at the turn of the events. Deciding to continue rifling through the papers for a few more moments in case he found something good, the doctor came upon a vague and unfinished design of what appeared to be a full cyborg body. He did not know if Arcadia was interested in cyborgs or perhaps some of her subordinates had come up with the design but it looked interesting enough, not that the first mate ever intended on becoming a full cyborg since he liked his original body, but this was the only interesting thing he had found so far and he was not leaving here with empty hands. "I suppose let us get back to the ship before the Marines arrive." Vincent said, disappointed that this was pretty much a wasted trip. |

"Don't try to bullshit me Vince. All you have to do is flip a switch and their back up and kicking. Totally not dead. At best you just put them in a coma or something." He responded back to the first mate. Joke or not, Hideo was intent on giving him a hard time about this whole deal and possibly even make him regret making the joke at all. Either way, he wasn't all too worried about Vincent being captain or not, he doubted much would actually change and if things did then they would be having some issues. He followed behind the door man as they walked over to the next room, kicking some of the robots aside as they went. "Don't gotta tell me twice. I'm all over this shit." He said while rummaging through some of the files and such that were hanging around. Likely not looking through them with quite as much detail as Vincent was, but the Crimson Bomber figured he could more or less tell what was important on these from a glance. Some junk about science, some shit about her deal with the government, classified info with a lot of the text redacted by black strips. It was all useless to them. The idea of there being a hidden guarded lab down here had given him hope for something worthwhile but now this was just plain frustrating. He looked over in the direction of Vincent to see him inspecting the wall before turning back his way and delivering the bad news. "You gotta be shitting me, man? Fuck that noise! If we came all the way down here for nothing then I'm gonna at least raise some hell when this coat wearing pussies show up!" He shouted before throwing a table against the wall. "If you can't find what was in here then at least try to figure out who took it, and if you can't figure that out then get as much useful information as you can before we get out. This will not be a waste." He demanded in an authoritative way while continuing to look through information. Weapon schematics, business deals, manufacturing and distribution chains, anything would have been useful especially for the future plans Hideo had in mind for the crew. |

Vincent could not help but sigh as Hideo predictably wanted to go kill some Marines to relieve the stress and anger. Honestly, why he had expected anything else he was not entirely sure. What he did know was that he was not particularly interested in engaging the Marines. Well, he kind of did but he also knew that it would simply be a waste of time and he did not want to spend any more time on this island that he had to. Taking another look at the missing whatever on the wall after his captain's rather brusque request, the first mate still could not figure out what it was that was hanging on the wall. Hell, it could have been anything from a picture of some sort of a feline with encouraging words written underneath it but plans of another weapon of mass destruction. And there wasn't any way to figure out what it was since he did not see any cameras anywhere. Since this was a hidden room and did not look like any experiments were conducted in here, there would be no reason for cameras. As such, there was no way to even get an idea of what the thing could have been. Finding out who might have taken it was probably as useless a venture as finding out what was on the wall in the first place. The inventor let out another sigh as he idly perused the papers on the table when one of the papers caught his attention. It was as heavily redacted as most other papers in the room but there were two things that were un-redacted that made it interesting. It was an order form from Ark Island. What exactly was ordered and why was painted black but what was available was good enough. While he was not a navigator by any means, the doctor tried to be at least vaguely familiar with most islands that they could have encountered on their travels and Ark Island was not one of them. Was it another island like Station Zero? If Arcadia or someone working for her had ordered from or shipped something to this island, it had to be important. And since this was as solid a lead as they found so far, it was better than nothing. "So I might have found our next stop. Ark Island. I do not recognize the name but it appears that Arcadia has had dealings with someone there so maybe we will find something useful there." Vincent said, pocketing the paper and making his way out of the room. As he started heading towards the hallway, he heard the dull thuds of lots of booted feet running towards them. It seemed like the Marines had finally found them and it looked like Hideo would get his fight after all. |

Despite his rage even Hideo knew that this was a waste of time by now. There was no way they could find anything close to what they had originally even come down here for. Even knowing that didn't help to relieve this stress however and the only person here he could lash out at was none other than Vincent. "Son of a bitch!" The man shouted, grabbing the desk he was currently rifling through and tossing it across the room. "Ok ok. I got it out of my system now." Well, not really, but that would do it for the time being. At this point he kind of just wanted to get the hell out of this tunnel and back to their ship. "Oh?" The Crimson Bomber turned towards Vincent as he seemed to have actually managed to find something. Well, it wasn't much, just the name of a place that was connected to Arcadia in some way. Still, it was something he supposed and it gave them something to look forward to. "Beggars can't be choosers and all of that shit, right? Well, let get the hell out of here I'm bored, pissed, and hungry. Pretty bad combination dontcha think." As the two would begin to exit the room together it seemed they would both notice the approach of a group of people in the tunnels. Based on the place they were currently in it was about ninety-nine percent certain that they were enemies. While he did mention a moment ago he'd love a stress reliever at the end of the day mowing down a bunch of weaklings would be a fleeting source of enjoyment at best. Maybe he was better off just having Vincent open a door and the two of them sneak out without any sort of resistance? "Who the fuck am I kidding. Let's go kill these bitches!" His voice boomed through the hallways of the tunnels as he pulled out a bomber and toosed it down the hall, the explosion engulfing the hall in smoke and flames and drowning out the sounds of shouts coming from that direction. "We'll just leave the same way we came in and anyone who gets in the way can face the consequences. Simple right?" He said nonchalantly before walking out of the room. |

Vincent was not surprised when Hideo had decided that he wanted to take on the Marines. He had held out a very, very small hope that perhaps the captain would be somewhat reasonable at the appropriate moment but that did not appear to be the case. Oh well. He would do what he could to clear out the Marines quickly and efficiently instead of simply hiding out and using his Air Door to move around. Unlike the robots, there would be no off switch that he could press to end everything in a single moment but perhaps it would work out anyways. After all, there was no upgrade that he had been keen on testing out though he had not had the opportunity to do so. Now that he knew who and where the enemy was, there was not much to stop him. With a slightly amused shake of his head, the inventor followed Hideo out of the room and into the entrance to the tunnels, the thudding of boots growing closer and closer. By now, he could see lights dancing off the walls, throwing the shadows into a disarray. The Marines clearly were not trying to be stealthy, preferring to rely on their numbers to overwhelm the opponent. Not a tactic that he preferred himself but he could not deny that it was effective. In any case, relying on numbers had one disadvantage. Well, it had several, but in this particular case, there was only one. Relying on numbers in close spaces left the group highly susceptible to area of effect weapons. And the weapon he wanted to try out most certainly was that. "Allow me." the first mate said simply as he stepped in front of Hideo and raised his right arm, pointing it down the hallway. There was a high pitched whining noise coming from his arm, something that he would need to tweak in the future, as it began to glow. As the first half dozen Marines turned around the corner, there were shouts of something or other, though Vincent could not hear it over the whine. He waited for a few more moments for a few more men to appear, the whine increasing in intensity before there was a sudden silence as a thin beam of pure white light came out of his hand, streaking silently towards the Marines. While it did not hit any of them, he would need to work on his aiming, the beam of light did hit the wall behind them, unleashing a explosion that rocked the tunnel and engulfed the entire area around the Marines in flames. "After you." the pirate said simply to his captain, motioning to the man to clean up any survivors, before following slowly behind as if to give Hideo something to take his frustration on. Truth be told, firing the laser at max power wore him out more than he thought it would, though conducting the first live fire test at the maximum was perhaps not the best thing to do in the first place. Oh well, the results were spectacular. |

Honestly he expected Vincent to give some sort of half assed form of agreement to Hideo's idea of just fighting the marines head on. Pretty much following his lead because it was simpler and Hideo was the captain. That was pretty much how their dynamic had worked out for as long as the Crimson Bomber could really remember. Truth be told he was aware of the fact that the two of them could enter the air door and simply stroll out of this area with no resistance. With all of that being said he was more than shocked to see Vincent instead not only agree immediately to his plan but decided to take up the lead on their assault. "Wait, what?" He said out of simple confusion more than anything else. It was a bit too different for him to handle all at once. "Man, you must finally be coming around to my way of doing things Vincent. I knew this day would come. I almost feel like a proud father or some shit, kahaha." He joked while standing to the side and allowing the man to step in front. Knowing the second in command Hideo was certain that he must have had something interesting in mind in order to make this request. As the man lifted his arm and it began to make the high pitched whining noise the pirate captain couldn't help but let out a low whistle. That sound was definitely one that he recognized and was already getting the man rock hard (figuratively) just thinking about the fireworks that would happen once those men came around the corner. Sure enough those unsuspecting bastards came around the corner and stood no chance of coming out of that alive as the hall was engulfed in light and fire. "god damn man. That's that good shit right there!" He shouted while giving Vince a slap on the back. Hideo had also managed to recently create a means of firing off light based energy as an attack. The big difference was that he wasn't sure of how to integrate it into his cyborg body. It seemed in the time since he gained his devil fruit Vincent had surpassed him in regards to cybernetics. Still, he was one competitive bastard and din't like to be shown up especially not by one of his own men. "That all you got Vince. Let the captain show you how it's done." He grinned while closing up his cybernetic helmet and pulling out an odd looking pistol. Honestly the weapon looked like it was made more from scrap metal than any sort of refined material but sure enough the pirate captain held it up with confidence. As gunfire began to emerge from the smoke the man held out his left arm along with his extra two cybernetic extensions and transformed them into over sized swords using their flat sides to prove as a makeshift shield. Those guys weren't all too pleased with that last explosion. Whatever this was fine, pulling the trigger on his pistol now it began to make a similar high pitched noise that rang in the hall even managing to catch the ears of a couple of the men and causing them to start falling back. "Too late shit for brains!" The man pulled the trigger once again another beam of light making its way into the hall and blowing away the stragglers from the first attack. "Alright come on, let's keep moving." The man pocketed his pistol while charging forth with his shield still held in front of himself. It seemed that they'd gotten through this first group of soldiers and his laser would need a little bit of time to recharge anyway. |

Vincent watched curiously as Hideo pulled out an odd looking gun. While it certainly looked like it would simply fall apart under its own weight, the way the Captain was holding it suggested that that would unlikely be the case. Granted that this might be the first time that the gun was being tested but before he got his devil fruit powers, Hideo was versed enough in the mechanical aspect of being an inventor so the pirate was confident that the gun would not blow up in their face. Still, it didn't hurt to take a few steps back and have his devil fruit powers at the ready to jump into the Air Door. Just in case. Fortunately, that would not be required. Using the bigger man as cover against the bullets of the incoming Marines, having almost no defense against projectiles, the doctor watched and listened with fascination as the gun emitted a similar sound to the one that his laser did before it fired, the similarity extending further when a beam of light erupted from the gun, raining death and destruction upon the hapless Marines. The inventor could not help but smile a bit under his mask. It seemed like great minds thought alike. Continuing down the hallway, past the unconscious, dead and dying Marines, the duo did not encounter any resistance for a couple of minutes, the eradicated group must have been a sort of vanguard, sent to scout out the situation while the main force waited just outside the catacombs. Then again, it was quite possible that the group that they met was the only group and they were sent out to find out what happened to the other Marines that were killed by the robots. The question was, did the scouting party managed to send off a message that they had encountered enemies before they were all wiped out? It honestly could have gone either way and the inventor knew that it would be for the best to be prepared for any possibility. And hopefully, he would be able to fire off another blast from his laser whenever they would encounter more resistance. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the duo did not encounter any resistance while they were inside the tunnels and managed to make it to the opening through which they descended without any more Marines showing up. Looking up at the sliver of light above them, the first mate saw several ropes hanging down, which were undoubtedly used by the dead Marines to descend into the tunnels. And if the ropes were here then they must have left someone top side to mind the ropes and make sure that they did not become unraveled. "You should take the lead for this one Captain. There are probably several Marines at the top watching the ropes. I do not believe that there are any more than that but I could be wrong." Vincent said, waiting until Hideo rocketed up the hole before following himself. |

These marines were proving to be little to no obstacle to them all as the men barreled down the hallways and towards the exit. It was likely that the group that had come down now was just to check out what happened to the other men who had died before. With a second group going missing down here though the marines would likely begin a full scale investigation with their next look around. Well there wasn't much to begin with that was left but the two pirates had more or less gone and cleaned out everything else. The pirate captain's feet skidded to a halt upon seeing the ropes and the hole in the ceiling above them. One last push for them to reach their freedom huh? What a load of shit. "Well, seeing as your deciding to back off for the time being I guess I'll take lead. Don't blame me if there's nothing left for you up there though." Just as the second in command suspected, the teen transformed himself into a missile and literally rocketed himself upward and out of the hole. Finally being topside and out into the open sunlight was almost blinding for the man as he squinted and looked around seeing a few more soldiers standing top side. They seemed shocked to see a rocket fly out of the pit, but relieved that it wasn't heading their way. Well, not headed their way yet. The literal rocket man began to grin as he changed his flight path arcing back downward to the earth in a nose dive and exploding on impact with the ground. His attack sent bodies scattering in every which direction. Hideo's own body had already begun to regenerate from the globs of goo that reconstituted themselves into flesh, or rather metal in the case of his cyborg body. He was finally beginning to get used to this and even felt the time it took for himself to be put back together was shortening. "Go ahead and come up Vince. I'm pretty sure we're good around here." |

Vincent could not help but smirk a bit when Hideo called down to him. For all the things that his captain was not, brutally efficient was not one of them. Activating his own cybernetics, the pirate ascended out of the catacombs and back into the light. Dusting himself off, the doctor took a moment to appreciate the destruction that Hideo was capable off before starting to head back towards the ship. He was still not sure whether or not other Marines have been alerted to what was going on down here but given the teen's explosion, he doubted that the Marine response would be long in coming. As such, getting the hell out of here was of the top most priority. While he was sure that he and the captain could take down a great many Marine forces, he doubted that they would be able to take on an entire island's worth of Marine forces. Especially if there were any Rear or Vice Admirals were here, which was rather likely and it was definitely not something that he particularly cared to encounter. Not yet at least. He did want to test out his laser beam against someone stronger than a Marine mook but he needed to conduct a few more tests first to ensure that his weapon was at the top of it's condition. Keeping away from the main streets, and making sure to act as nonchalant as they, or at the very least Vincent, could, the duo made it back to their without encountering any further involvement with the Marines. While they did not get exactly what they were looking for, they did manage to find something that would point them into, hopefully, the right direction. After all, they would need all the luck that they could get if they hoped to start their own underground weapon selling business. And what better place to start then the place that dealt with Arcadia and her weapons, Ark Island. Granted that it was quite possible that this was a step in the wrong direction but considering that this was the only lead that they had gotten so far, it was worth pursuing. Who knew, maybe what they found there would change their lives forever. But for now, it was fine to fiddle and fine tune his new weapon. "I'll be in the lab if you need me." Vincent called back to Hideo before disappearing below deck and into his lab. |

The rest of their trip on Las Arcadas wounds up being rather uneventful as the two made their way back to the ship. Honestly, this whole trip wound up being such a bomber that he didn't even want to do anything else but make it back to their ship and get the hell out of here. "More like Las Arcadass, am I right?" the man crudely remarked while walking out of town. With the use of the door fruit's abilities the two of them were able to rather easily get back to the shore without worrying about even the slightest interruption. It was almost too convenient of a power at times and made him feel like pair of shit bags like the two of them were far too blessed to have it. Once back on the ship Vincent would quickly vanish into his lair as expected. The Crimson Bomber on the other hand was already at work commanding the men on board to prepare them to depart so they could head to their next location. It was hard to believe but after all this time they were approaching the end of the Grand Line. The goal was in sight and the New World was just a little over the horizon. The man slammed his iron fist together and let out a shout into the air catching many of their crewmen off guard. This trip may have been a bust but they were still going strong and nothing was going to stop the Crimson angels. "Quit standing around you fucking idiots and get us out of here. We've still got a whole lot of sea to cover to get to the next island and we have to make up for this shit." He roared, whipping the men back into shape as he began to head below deck and into his own quarters. The pirate captain opened up his torso compartment and pulled out some of the information they managed to retrieve. Perhaps he could make use of this just yet. there was nothing too major but the data did contain a few connections that she had and Arcadia was still a scientific genius, perhaps he could make some improvements to his own gear. |
