Even as Ant pulled Blade’s attention, the captain kept a sharp eye on Wolf. The other was not as sly as he may think he is, but Blade brought no additional attention to the fact. There was no reason to stir a pot that was currently settling. They were about to start a new adventure, he didn’t want to start it with extra trouble. That being said, he wasn’t opposed to doing reprimanding as needed, or, maybe he’d just send Blair after him. Blade finally let Wolf slip from his mind as he turned to Ant. “As Jackery said, we have to be here for at least three days for his log post. I’d recommend you go enjoy yourself. Your welcome to be at my side, or do as you please.”, Blade tapped the bandages on his chest, “Not sure how grand of a fight I can give today or tomorrow.” It was party true, if he could to intense he might cause some serious damage to himself and not any opponents. “Captain!”, a mook ran over. A smaller framed one with red hair and odd colored golden eyes. In his mind, Blade called this mook Strut due to how confidently he seemed compared to other mooks on the ship. “We are approaching the docks.” “Yes. I can see that.”, Blade said with a large amount of sarcasm and blatant unamusement. “We have spare white neutral flags. Jackery has sent his own ship commands to hoist flags. For now, take down the black ones.”, Blade said as he walked toward the steering shaft. “PULL THE SAILS! The winds are dangerous in the grand line and I don’t want to pick up a tab for smash into the dock!”, he called. The mooks scrambled to pull the sails down and replace them, but not fully hoist them to keep the Dawn Challenger at a soft idle across the choppy seas. Blade looked up at the sky, it looked like rain. Blade steered the ship into the docks, and by the time the walk board was cast onto the dock with a heavy thump, everything was ready. If Jackery had additional flags to fly, Blade would make sure they showed over the array of other ships. There were only two other docks, a smaller fishing boat and a huge merchant boat. “Welcome to Cactus Island!”, Blade called to his crew. |

More time had passed than Jackery had accounted for and the addition of one more person would be a further impediment to timely action but the situation was not completely unworkable. He delivered the book with the repair details before correcting Wolf. "Apology accepted, but we will not be heading directly ashore. First we go to the Nemo so you can be fitted for a uniform then I will have business to attend to." Checking that the Nemo was now close by Jackery motioned to his crewmen that they were to return to the longboat with him. Hopping down to the smaller craft Jackery gave enough time for Wolf to follow before his men cast off and slid the nimble auxiliary craft made its way to the disguised warship. Met at the deck Jackery was presented with the planned shore leave schedule by the one legged and badly scarred former marine Montgomery Sims. While glancing over the list he spoke with the man among the crew he placed the most responsibility with. "I will be joined temporarily by Mr. Wolf as a liaison from the other crew. Have him fitted with a uniform, he will be accompanying me. Have you contacted the port authorities?" Sims nodded. "Yes sir, once they saw the flags they were more than eager to avoid having us actually come into the harbor." Jackery nodded and after making a few minor changes to the schedule he returned it. "Once Mr Wolf is clothed and has had a chance at the galley the first rota will come along with me." Having settled that Jackery returned the man's salute and let him off to inform the lucky members of the crew whom would be among the first to go and to distribute their pay. There would not be much since Jackery had not had much of a chance at actual piracy yet. |

With the crew now arriving at the docks of their first Grand Line island, Blair couldn't help but feel a grin spread across her face. The Blue Fang Pirates were now being cast into a world that wasn't quite their own and yet, she felt as if this grand scene was going to be something to remember, not only by themselves but by many others to come. She had heard the stories of pirates who arrived within these fierce seas an upturned the islands they had landed on, leaving trails of their visits all throughout the equator of the world. Not only that, this was only half the Grand Line, only ending once it looped back around on the other end of the planet. Blair's tongue ran along her upper lip, things were sure to get interesting. With the flags colours being changed, Blair inspected all of the goings on, calling for a few of the crew members to stand before her whilst she issued orders about. They were going to need to stock up on supplies, keeping an eye out for anything particularly useful with a good price. Blair wasn't one to to purchase objects for the lowest price for the sake of a tight purse, but she wasn't going to allow the crew to enter a state of poverty, their members needing to be paid to keep them in line. Not only did she describe the food supplies that would be needed, but she also explained that Jackery had compiled a list of necessary repairs, so to hunt out people who would be able to assist in this fix along with obtaining any materials that were imperative to the carpenter's task. With that, Blair gave a heavy thump of her boot, the men acknowledging the dismissal as they all scurried about, readying themselves for swift belongings gathering. "We have three days, let's get this done as soon as possible!" she yelled, her voice trumpeting over the sounds of the men's movements. As the ship reached the docks of the island, Blair watched as the men diligently began to tie their ropes along the docks, anchoring themselves to their new home for the next few days. With the gangplank extending out toward the docks, Blair made sure that her group were the first to leave the ship. The dark haired merchant was surrounded by almost half a dozen men, each with wooden boxes strapped to their backs to help in carrying all the various objects. She gave a small wave towards Blade and the others, the tough bargainer feeling that they needed to get this out of the way. Each member of the crew had their own jobs to do and she wasn't going to wait around and put hers to the side. With the new challenges ahead, she had to make sure that she was atop of things so her crew can work to the best of their potential. "Alright men, try and not cause any trouble whilst we're out here. If someone does give you shit though, I'll take care of them," she grinned. Despite the fact that there were very few weapons on show, these men had travelled with the crew long enough to know that on the First Mate of the Blue Fangs, was an entire armoury of weaponry. Knives were something she excelled at wielding and not one of them wanted to be around when they saw their boss at work with them. |

Ah that would be good, staying by the captain's side was good on many levels. His injuries were the most extensive so he could keep an eye on them in case they needed any treatment out in the field. Blade was also the most stubborn member of the crew and as the captain he likely feels as though he cannot show weakness or injury which meant he might hide his injuries at least this way he would know everything about the man's injuries. Not only that but he might be able to find out more about Jackery by tagging along with Blade, not to mention about the Volts and what happened. If anybody turned up Ant intended to fiercely defend his captain, the man was after all like a farther to him even if he hated being called that. Something did surprise Ant though, Blade openly admitted he wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight. Sure it was obvious, but the fact blade admitted it showed just how much faith and trust he put in his crew now. Ant couldn't imagine the Blade he used to know admitting any such thing. The surprise showed briefly on Ant's face before resorting to a fairly neutral smile. Speaking of Old Blade, seeing how he interacted with the mooks was quite interesting. He was still clearly a man of power and authority yet he wasn't the savage animal people once saw him as. They respected him. Though more impressive was Blair, wow she was a woman. Whilst Ant still felt his heart flutter every now and then, he was knew better than to overtly show his affections like Wolf. Doing so in front of Blade would lead to the removal of appendages, limbs and if you're unlucky and not careful, even head if you. Enough heart fluttering though, Ant stuck to his plan and followed Blade, seeing how he could steer the ship was quite interesting really. Whilst he'd lined them up earlier seeing the fine work of docking looked challenging. It was kinda like surgery in the way, one wrong move and you're stuffed and people might die. Anyway, Ant felt rather useless at the moment so he decided to rush on out onto the main deck and put out the gangplanks himself, funny how his feet felt a lot lighter than they used to despite his injury. He was moving seriously fast and didn't entirely appreciate just how fast himself. Apparently he caught a few mooks by surprise, even some of the more senior mooks. He blinked a few times as he looked back at them, okay the whole staring thing was getting more than a bit creepy now. |

His hope of free food were soon shut down, as Jackery made it very clear that they had no time for anything but business, what a downer that guy. How is Wolf supposed to function with just a couple of sandwiches in his pockets, he thought as he patted his right pocket.. yup, still feel tasty... As he patted his pocket, news of uniform change were handed to him, so he had to rid of the sandwich quickly, not even putting up an argument against that. He really hated outfits, since his days at the dojo he never liked to wear something traditional. As Jackery was busy with setting up their means of transportation, he took his sandwich and put it in his mouth. He didn't want Blade to see him eat on duty or Jackery to think ill off him, but it would fairly be recognizable if somebody looked at him that he has something in his mouth. He tried to chew it fast, enjoying it as much as he could. He finished it, but still.. hungry. Damn him and his appetite, guess he will find something to eat on the Nemo. Now that he finished it he wanted to bring up the question of changing his clothes, but he stopped as he noticed Blade give him a last look before departing. His next action will be to just smile and nod, or at least try to not say anything stupid, which is not likely to work but hey there is always hope. As they departed to the ship, he finally had a chance to gaze up on it up close. Even if Dawn Challenger was big, Nemo was huge. As he stepped on the fine and firm wood, he grazed the railing with his fingers. No dirt? That was so strange. The Dawn Challenger was fairly clean, well due to his punishments and duty to clean the ship regularly, but he guessed even mooks could neglect the job sometimes. He knew Jackery ran a strict and well mannered politics on the ship, but to this extent. Everything was clean, and everyone was doing their job? Damn, this was a sight to be seen, for a pirate crew they sure were organised, much like marines would be.. Whait, is Jackery and undercover marine? This would explain a lot, well actually nothing, but still. "Hahha, I get it now" he would let it slip as he was standing near Jackery. He would make a smirk as he would say it, but suddenly change his facial expression to a smile he had before. As Jackery was saying all this jibber jabber about the ship and the docking, Wolf was looking around for clues of his marine like ways. But alas, time was short and he was to go get dressed. "Trying to trick me and the rest here aren't you?" he thought to himself as he gazed upon Jackery while leaving. He was sure he would find clues but he had to be alone and unseen to do so. As he was getting measured for his suit he would look for an opportunity to go wander the ship a little. The bathroom if you wouldn't mind? He would see if he would get permission to go anywhere, but he hoped this was the best way to get out. Edited by RaMp4g3, Oct 27 2016, 12:22 PM.

Blade smiled down at his crew, his ship was in shape and everyone was ready to head out on their any tasks. Blade had his own goal in mind too, he had to set up material buying, check out the newest bounty posters and maybe even pick up some useful information about this island. During his travels, he had not come to this place before, and he had only heard whispered echos about it. Holding his cane tightly, he set the wheel and left the navigation and steering chambers. He nodded to a few mooks on his way out, a silent warning if anything happened to his ship he would track them to the ends of the world and slaughter them both. Blade saw Ant running about with the boards, he looked surprisingly happy for just setting out the boards. And the gurgling from the sides of the ship told Blade the anchors had set well in the seabed below and his ship would stay docked firm. After the boards had been set, Blade left a few more tasks to the mooks, polish and wax the wood to revitalize its waterproofing sheen. Take hard counts at stock, count every last potato, and every quarter of barreled water. The ill prepared pirate is a dea pirate, and since their captain had no issue eating people, the mooks made sure to overstock the food supply. Blade may have turned over a new leaf, but the beast within him still clawed to get out. As Blade stepped onto the dock, he cringed when he felt the soft wood bow a little under his weight. The dock was in need of repair, the water had peeled most of the vinal paint and warped the wood so that not a single wood plank was straight anymore. And as a zoan, uneven ground with water directly below was enough to cause unease. “Careful Ant. The wood is warped and I’m in no mood to fish you out with my cane!”, he called back, tapping the dock sharply with his cane. The wood let off a soft creaking noise and Blade proceeded down the dock. He silently prayed he too wasn’t going to have to be pulled from the dark colored water below. Blade walked next to Blair before she set out into the village. “Be safe Blair. If you need us, just call. I’m going to try to find a map of this place, maybe scoop up a new version the Bounty Book. Since we’re here for three days, we should go to dinner. This time, I won’t fight the mayor, and hopefully you don’t burn your fingers”, he said simply. He checked over the mooks that were going with Blair, and he was satisfied as he could be with the face he couldn’t go with her. Carrying heavy boxes on his back would tear out his stitches, otherwise he would have gone too. He felt useless, and it annoyed him to no end. |

A meal tray was delivered to Jackery's cabin as he was in discussion with the local port authorities. It seemed that the very instant they had spotted the flag raised by the Nemo they were on the radio very insistently demanding more information. It took a while but eventually Jackery was able to calm them down and head off their idea of sending an inspector out to the Nemo. The assurance that no cargo was going to be brought ashore seemed to be the biggest relief, luckily enough since any inspector would instantly call out the ship's disguise before they even got very close. Ending the conversation he picked at the food and checked the time. By now Wolf should have had enough time for the fitting and to have gotten a meal from the mess hall. He ordered the den den replaced back to the bridge and further instructed that the first rotation of shore leave was to begin. Word was sent as final preparations were made and Jackery got on the first of the boats after a sailor had been sent to find Wolf but had been unable to locate him before the craft was scheduled to lower. Pondering the situation Jackery decided to not delay the first boat with himself on board because of the arranged meeting with the port master but he did order the final boat to delay an additional twenty minutes to wait. Unless the man showed up quickly though he would have to wait for the second set of people to go. Standing on the prow of the longboat as the rowers readied to move it forward the moment it touched water Jackery considered the poor condition of the town that was visible. It seemed a lot of battle had taken place through here, reports he had studied detailed more than one superhuman incident and there was nothing the locals could do but try to pick up the pieces after. |

The gear that her own personal entourage of mooks wore were something far more common within the East Blue than they were elsewhere. Which is why once Blair and her crew set out, she was subject to a few weary and stray looks. Whilst they were out, clipboards with their own different items that they were to purchase, Blair got to work on chatting away to different individuals, hoping to gleam any sort of information from them. Allegedly, this island had been subject to many a pirate raid, the likes of the beast bloods having causd the land quite a bit of strife once they had reached the Grand Line. Nodding away to herself, she realised that there wasn't much info to gain from the regular vendors that were about. "How much for these rations? They're hardly worth the likes of that..." she muttered to herself, crossing her arms as she observed what one stall owner in particular was attempting to sell to her. The man chuckled to himself as he noticed her inquisitive eye. "How about I give you five thousand Beli for all you've got, it'll let you have a few free days to yourself and it'll stop anyone else from calling you out," she bartered, well able to afford the price she was offering, allowing herself to gain a grand bargain. The man once again chuckled before making the exchange. Blair had long since developed a knack for trading while she was out at sea. Say, would you happen to know much about any pirates that have been sailing through here?" Blair asked, raising an eyebrow of her own as she twirled a finger through the air, two men appearing as one turned so the other could place the food preserves and rations onto his back. With a smirk, the man gestured with a hand. "Well, with all of that New World bleeding in, you get a lot of those Yonkou guys trickling in. There was that one crew with the instruments too... I hear there's some gang running among too... Word comes in slow these days for us, we're almost used to pirates at this point! harharhar!" the man chuckled to himself, before he looked around him, figuring that it was time to begin packing up for the day now that all of his stock had been bought. Blair gave him a swift sign of satisfaction and thanks before moving away from the stall, an assortment of other items to barter for. She allowed the knowledge to sink into her mind before a wave of something dark washed across her. From the sounds of it, her troubles were still surrounding her, moreso now that they've entered into the waters. A group she had thought she had left behind since that time... "Ma'am?" one of the mooks coughed, noticing the look of distress that had spread across Blair's face. With a soft smile, she waved her hand in the air, gesturing for them all to carry on, not wanting to keep them waiting for too long. "We still have much more to get done!" she yelled aloud before becoming embarrassed once more as she gained all sorts of glances. |

While heading to the changing room, he would look around to see if any place was worth visiting. He took notice of the giant command deck, and the wheelhouse below it. There was probably his quarter's but he would need to get there somewhat later. As he moved to a room, where he was getting measured, he would kinda jump in place, so his sudden question to go to the bathroom wouldn't be so strange. After a couple of minutes, he asked the mook that was left there where the bathroom is. To his surprise he didn't even ask him anything, he just explained where he could find it. "Jackery must have told these guys that I'm a guest and to treat me with respect.. Finally somebody who appreciates me here." he thought, as for a second he forgot that Jackery could be a devious pirate-marine. As he popped out, he pulled the mask over his face and popped the hood on. Strangely, he could have wondered the ship without it, as the mooks would just allow it do a distance, but nah more fun this way. He tried to avoid running into anyone, moving behind some doors and free spaces until others pass through. "Hah, I should be a real spy, this is fun." but little did he know that probably everyone noticed him, but were just thinking he is strange. As he moved from door to door, he looked inside some of the rooms if he couldn't hear anyone inside. His really good method of revealing if somebody was inside was peaking through the lock or placing his ears against the door for sound's. Strangely, worked like a charm. But most of the rooms he got to were just bedrooms and some of them were storage unit's of smaller scale. He would look through them, but really not knowing what would be a sign that they were marines, other than the flags or some papers he would dig up in the capt. quarters, he just threw a few looksies here and there. As he was 'sneaking' around he found the best thing he could.. the kitchen. Yes, god dammit he was hungry and the scale of that refrigerator made him drool. He didn't even notice a mook, probably a chef in there, as he opened the holy thing containing unearthly goodness. He would begin to pick stuff out of the refrigerator and eat, like there was not tomorrow. On the Dawn Challenger he had to eat only some of the food, as it was for the whole crew but here, he didn't really care as he figured they were near an island, they will replenish it. Oh, the sandwiches he made , they were just delicious. He thought of sandwich making as an art form, an art form that nobody appreciated like him. It took him a while until he was full, and suddenly it hit him that he was there for a reason and a lot of the time passed. Closing the refrigerator, nodding to a few of the mooks that were at giving him looks, he ran out of the room. He was running, as fast as he could, but as he ran he saw the room he was in and a mook still standing there. He stopped after he ran past it, and went back in. "Sorry got lost, we kinda don't have time just give me anything you have." He was against it at first, but as he stated that Jackery would be angry at them that Wolf was late and had to delay his plans, he wore him down to the idea of finding a suitable outfit already there. As he got dressed, it just felt strange.. He was not used to these types of clothes, were was the comfort and the lazy vibe of his old clothes? Damn, he really had to roll with these. "Thanks, will see myself out". He went to the top deck, now thinking of going to find the quarters of Jackery, but he saw the last boat lowering. He didn't see Jackery on it, damn he must have missed it. Wondering how late he was, and how Blade would react, he forgot all about the marine undercover operation going on here as he ran and jumped. As the boat was getting lowered, somewhere midway, Wolf came aboard. It shook, one of the cables holding it almost popping, and the others falling out but at least he made it. "Sorry guys, bathroom..". he said as he smiled and rubbed the back of his head. As the lowered boat went onward to the island, Wolf stood up and looked at it. It really was a sight to behold, but not in a good way. It looked utterly destroyed, by forces he couldn't even comprehend, but still it was standing. He wondered what adventures awaited them in the Grand Line if the first island there is is this destroyed. The thought sent chills down his spine, but he had a big smile on. "Grand Line here I come!!" he yelled, as he lifted his hands in the air. Edited by RaMp4g3, Nov 8 2016, 03:03 PM.

Jackery did not react at all to Wolf's arrival even as Igor Gremyaschiy gave the young man a hard look which Jackery knew already would not be noticed or taken into any sort of account if it was. The longboat hit the water and even with the signifigant distance the Nemo was at anchor away from the docks, the small boat with so many eager oars moving it arrived quickly where they were being flagged over toward. There were three men waiting on the pier which was almost empty, but in much better condition than the docks Jackery saw the Dawn Challenger was moored to. Before they got within earshot Jackery passed a pouch of coins to Wolf. A bit of spending money cut from Jackery's own share of his ship's funds, he did not know if Wolf had brought his own money or not and if he hadn't it might have brought attention if one of the crew of a declared merchant vessel was not spending while in port. One of the men was clearly the dockmaster, a man wearing what had once been a very fancy suit with a stovepipe top hat, but even at a decent distance Jackery could tell it was getting threadbare and it didn't help that the man had grown quite fat in the meantime, his belly probably weighing as much as the rest of him. The other two men in crisp, perfectly straight and brand new uniforms were obviously completely different. They were marines, which would have been unusual for this island considering there was no official permanent presence of them here but with the already spotted advanced patrol ship their presence was not a surprise. Unwelcome but not surprising. The younger of the marines took the thrown rope and pulled the longboat before tying it and stepping back. The fat man, with ledger open was about to start the conversation the moment Jackery's boots touched the pier but the marine officer stepped between them first and spoke. "Interesting ship you have captain..." The man paused a moment but Jackery did not answer and the man gave a slight shrug before immediately continuing. "So, what exactly are you carrying that's so dangerous? You reported gunpowder but the precautions are suspiciously overkill." Jackery's single good eye narrowed as he stared down the much older marine officer and he considered which of the many pre-prepared responses he had readied knowing that the wrong one or one poorly said would blow the cover story. The lack of overwhelming force had Jackery more worried than if these marines had brought a more sizeable force, either they completely were at ease and had no real concerns or they knew who he was and that he was not going to act. "Three hundred tons of nitrocellulose." He answered in a completely calm and level voice that seemed to be quickly overwhelmed by the sudden sound of the fat man's pen scratching across the page of the ledger and the sharp intake of the breath by both of the marines. That made everyone involved sweat bullets, the marine captain managed to calm himself first. "Very interesting, well I expect your ship will only be here long enough to reset its logpose and then will be leaving. If this is the case I believe the world government will have no issues with having any fees waived." It was an obvious dismissal and the marines turned to walk away, as did the fat man who broke into a bit of a stumbling run once some distance passed. |

Blade stood silently as Blair walked away. Maybe she didn't hear him? He tightened his grip on his cane, casting his eyes to the ground. Or perhaps, she didn't want to go and just didn't want to tell him. She was a kind soul, and choosing to spare someone's feelings was sort of a toss up. He sighed softly, watching his crew disperse into the town. He turned to Ant, "Come on Anthony. Let's see if we can get a hold of a map or something.", Blade said in a mild ton. He waited for a second and continued into the town. As he walked, he began to take in the island. Along his travels, he had never come to this place before. The distant hills looked like cacti, with what looked like spikes protruding from the ground. But, this town had one pungent scent that Blade wouldn't get away from. Death. The very ground was drenched in the smell of the dead. The smell of dirt long ago tilled for graves, the scent of rotting flesh covered in only a few feet of death. The scent was enough to make Blade decide against changing into any of his zoan forms. If his human form could smell it, he dreaded to imagine how wolf's nose would fair here. He tried to shake the stench from his mind as he notice a huge, incomplete building. And, it appeared the town was simply built around it. He noticed the attire of the people, they all dressed in almost a uniformed sort of way. There was no joy, just sadness on their faces, even the children seemed deprived of joyful spirit. Ahead of him, he heard a loud bell. The sound was enough to cause him to stop, and look to the source. Before him stood an old women, a bell in one hand, and a large scroll in the other. "Have you come to morn the lost?", she asked, it was apparent within a few moments, see was blind. Her milky white eyes nearly hidden behind long unkempt silvery white locks. "The lost?", Blade echoed the question. For he both was confused by what she meant, and nearly asked her if she was lost. "Have you come to morn the souls of the lost? To pray for those who have left us, and who's bodies have returned to the earth. I can sense you have lost much. An entire family? Friends? So child, have you come to morn?", she nudged at his cane with the large scroll in her hand. "I..", Blade was struck as if she had actually hit him. So, this place was all about morning the dead? Was this place just a pool of negativity and sadness. He scratched his head awkwardly, "We all have lost in this world.", he bowed his head slightly in respect to her. "Perhaps I shall take time to reflect upon such matters.", he swiftly walked away from her. He turned a corner and looked over his shoulder for Anthony. |

By the time Ant had finished with the planks Blade had already addressed some mooks and was on his way to disembarking. He still hadn't gotten used to the sensation of going over the gangplank as a zoan. He was always more than a bit paranoid about the plank breaking or maybe slipping, because if either of those happened then he'd probably be dead. He was a great swimmer, but when you're a devil fruit user that counted for the square route of jack. Seemed even Blade was a bit worried about it, perhaps it was because he was continuing to earn one of Blade's soft spots? Maybe, that or his death would be inconvenient and that's the reason for the concern. At least he was still being very Blade-ish about his concern if he got all soppy Ant figured he'd have to lower the pain meds because that just wouldn't be right. He supposed his death would mean the crew would get to eat good food more often, every cloud had a silver lining apparently. Ant offered Blair a content smile, he trusted she would get the jobs done, and to be honest he'd feel more sorry for whoever would be foolish enough to try and hurt Blair. Either she'd kick their ass or Blade would eat them; neither were particularly attractive options for the poor soul. At least he had a list of what he would be doing now, so maps bounty and food. Nice mix, he did hope his bounty pic had been updated since he first got a bounty... He was so scrawny back then it was embarrassing if he had to have people using a picture to try and kill him he'd really rather it was an attractive photo. He nodded obediently to the captain, choosing to stay silent for now. The whole nature of this island seemed to have had a rather solemn effect on Ant, he was nowhere near as loud as he usually was. Yet as he ventured through the island with Blade there was something which bothered him far more than death, even the kids weren't smiling. This is no place to bring up children, surrounded by death with no happiness, children should be allowed to have innocence and freedom as far as Ant was concerned. After all, his own innocence was cut short rather abruptly. There was even a poor blind woman with scrolls. Apparently, this blind woman knew they were here, sound perhaps, or maybe she just randomly said it and hoped people would be there. Unlike Blade, Ant cottoned onto what was being said straight away given his mind was already on the subject and bowed behind Blade, only to speak once the captain started to move away "I shall, but I won't forget to guide the living either" If the dead could speak, they would likely be more concerned with what was left behind, given they were, well, dead. The one thing they can't control is what they left behind even if there is a heaven so Ant figured it was the duty of the living to continue to move forwards and advance. He jogged over to the captain to catch up again, walking by his side this time as he asked a question he didn't think he'd ever ask directly, but this island was just bringing back the memories "Can I ask a favour captain? You're good at finding information, and the only lead I have on my mum is that she may be somewhere in the Grand Line. You know the story, if you get wind of anything can you let me know? This place has just got me thinking, I don't want to assume my mum is lost if she might still be out there, somewhere" He wasn't entirely comfortable with getting the crew involved in his search because whoever this marine was, they were probably very dangerous. The fact the very vague leads he had pointed towards somewhere in the Grand Line or perhaps beyond only reinforced that. He didn't want to drag his crewmates into danger for something that was personal, unless they wouldn't take no for an answer. |

His little burst of joy as he yelled "Grand Line here I come!!" was taken somewhat bad by some of the man on the longboat, but Jackery didn't seem to mind it. One guy in particular gave Wolf a look, presumably because he shook the boat as he jumped almost making them fall in the water.. Well, he would get a big smile back from Wolf hoping that it would make the tension easier. He didn't have to be liked by the others here, he had a job to do and a special job he intended on finishing. He would observe the others, as well as Jackery, but making trouble with his men now would make sneaking on board the ship difficult as he would be under watchful eyes. The longboat was arriving quickly to a shore, as the island was looming on the horizon Shadow would sense the aura that the island was stanched with. The aura of death, as he would give it a name was strong, like a great tragedy once occurred here. He didn't have many tales told to him of the grand line or the men that traveled here, but he could sense the sheer force that was once here and havoc it left behind. Interrupting his sight was a pouch full of money. Jackery handed it to him, guess to buy something for him later? He didn't ask as he was ordered to do his bidding, but hell if he wasn't going to spend some off it for food, why was he here? Longboat docked on to the dock's,as three man waited for them. Two were typical marines, you could tell by their plain and boring uniforms... Not like Wolf was in one now.. "Damn, still hate these" he said as he stretched his uniform with his fingers. It was itchy and uncomfortably slapped to your skin. How do people wear these all the time? Oh and the third one seemed more formally dressed, he was in the position off power here. Wearing a top hat and a big belly that suited his outfit well, probably gained of all the stress of robbing people and doing shady business.. Wolf kept to himself during the interaction that unfolded, but he gave a deadly look to whichever of the three looked in his way. He didn't pretend to understand what was going on, and if he had spoken something or has gotten spoken to the mask would fall off, so better to look like you would slash their throats if they say something than to look all goofy and blew things for the crew. Keeping an eye on Jackery, he didn't seem to be phased by anything they threw at him.. He must have done this a million times or just has a general knowledge of the marine mindset. After they left, Wolf would turn to Jackery and ask if he wanted him to do anything with his money? He hopped he would get to go out and explore the town, for now he needed a breather of all the marine presence around him.. He really hated it. Edited by RaMp4g3, Nov 18 2016, 04:05 AM.

Jackery was still working through the implications of that last encounter but that did not mean that he had ever stopped paying attention to his surroundings. This place, called Velvet Tip apparently, seemed rather heavily damaged and poorly repaired. It was as though a war had torn through the place several times and the locals had simply given up trying to fix things. There were also a lot fewer people than buildings so after whatever had happened a lot of the population must have given up and left. This was something of a bad sign, so far Jackery had not spotted any sellers with nearly enough supplies to replenish the Nemo's stores and having to clear out a dozen or so different shops and stalls would mean that the costs would be astronomical by the end. This had been planned for of course, Cactus Island was hardly a garden world although the green rivers should have changed it events here had prevented the natural course of economics from taking over. His musing was stopped when the shops suddenly started closing, heavy boards sprang up to cover windows and metal bars could be heard moving across doors to secure them closed. The people here, hit hard by pirate battles, had developed a keen instinct when a fight was about to begin and the source of the conflict stepped into view ahead of Jackery. A cyborg evidently constructed of bone likely human bone judging from the many skulls on display. "Looks like the gulls were right boys, it's payday! Extra twenty million if one eye there is still able to talk once we got him. Rest are just trash, kill them." The cyborg announced as more bounty hunters appeared on the rooftops with rifles and the alleyways armed with swords and nets. These men had evidently been disguised as the local priests, with dark robes and ash smeared faces. The situation did not look good and Jackery's rapier was already in hand as he worked to judge the best escape route. "Bounty hunters, Wolf get to your captain and warn him." Jackery did not waste any time to make sure his command was actually being followed. |

Blade continued to walk through the town, but found the people in it to be very...strange. A joyless place, but with it’s own sort of lure. Like a siren, it called to the loss in someone, it tried to pull them closer. To whisper sweet nothings into their ear, to stroke the pain and make them want to stay. Blade wondered how many of these people had been lured here never to leave, and how many escaped this place. The houses and such were in bad shape, as it appeared only the large cathedral was in any sort of presentable building. This place felt dangerous, but Blade couldn't figure out why. Blade’s attention was pulled away from their surroundings when Anthony spoke. Blade stopped walking, and listened to the other. So, it all came to the surface? Blade had often thought about what Ant’s goals were. And aside from snippets of talk, they had not spoken much at all on personal matters. Blade spoke rarely of his past because of how ashamed he was. Because he wanted more then anything to outrun his past, and to never look back. The fear of becoming a monster again was crippling, it left him awake at night in silent horror. “Searching for someone is hard enough Anthony. But in the grand line? This is just one of many routes through it, plus there are hidden isle abound! I mean, can you really imagine it? Finding someone...”, he trailed off for a moment. “But...we can at least try. Nothing else going on around here hm? But, keep a look out, this place makes me edgy...”, he said with a low growl to his voice. Blade continued to walk onward. “I’m sure for something shiny or valuable Blair will help too.”, he said simply. A joke from Blade? What a place the grand line truly is. "Also. Cactus Juice, I hear the stuff is worth the price. Maybe I'll pick some up for the trip.", he said as they turned a corner. |
