It had been about two weeks since the whole incident between the ships Dawn Challenger and Nemo. Things had smoothed over a little, but little progress had been made in relations. For Blade, he had been forced to spend most of the time in bed. With his severe chest wound, along with a seemingly endless wish of secondary wounds, he was mostly useless. For the first week, he found himself unable to even get out of bed, with every breath pulling at the healing wound and causing him and unpleasant pain. He had wanted to look fine, because his crew was hurt as well. He wanted to stand strong before them, but, he simply couldn’t. The only struggle harder than his physical pains were those ones he felt on his soul. He found the urge to slide into depression and regress into his withdrawn self. The him that hid in his room rather than face anyone.

Lucky for Blade, the second week allowed him to move around. He found use in his cane very useful. He oversaw many of the repairs to the ship, but everyone agreed they needed to dock soon. Some repairs were in critical locations, and no one wanted to try to work on them fully until they were safely docked. Blade had set a course to Cactus Island, because it was the most ideal. As long as they didn’t cause trouble, there was little that the locals would do. Besides, he had some questions to ask people in the Grand Line. If the Volt Pirates were alive, could the Amber Rose be alive too? The idea was tempting enough to plot his ship forward. He had wished to take council with Jackery, but the other was busy with his own ship. So for now, the two ships drifted toward a common goal. But, Blade toyed with the idea of asking Jackery to join him. Between all the injuries and work, the crew didn’t communicate much with each other as they each had their own tasks.

Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, Blade got out of bed. He grabbed his cane and walked out of the room. He still had to be careful, but, he was at least mobile. He walked around for a short while, taking notes on the running of his ship. Their supplies were still in good condition, so the stop at Cactus Island was more about repairing the ship. It shouldn’t take more than a day or two, so, Blade was willing to stay docked and question locals in the meantime.

He looked around for a moment, and entered the training room. The captain knew he shouldn’t be in here, but he wasn’t about to let himself collapse into weakness. No, he needed to be strong, and, get stronger. He put his cane down against the wall and walked over to a training dummy. He stood a few feet away from it and calmed himself, taking a long and deep breath. He wanted to achieve huge Dire form. The one who had jumped through a hole in the deck, easily making a jump to the level above. The one who picked Blair up like she was nothing more than a stick, his largest form yet. He wanted to tap into that power, but he was also afraid. Because he couldn’t control himself while in such a state. Or rather, he had no memory of his time in the form. He only had the current details because of his crew’s recollections of the whole event.

Gathering all the focus he could muster, Blade opened his eyes and shifted as fast as he could. He hoped he could trigger this new form if he changed fast enough. All he ended up finding was he was in his striker form. He snarled in annoyance as he looked at himself in the mirror. A savage creature, struck between man and beast stared back at him. He tried again and again, but he was unable to achieve his form. He only found himself switching between his core three form, not the magical fifth form. He tried until he exhausted himself, and fell to his knees. He hung his head in shame, looking down at his hands and curling them into fist. The old him would go on a rampage, but, he told himself he was better then that. A familiar scent caught his attention, Blair. Her scent reminded him she wanted to talk to him about something, and he continued to avoid her. After he had spilled all his feeling out to her, he had avoided her. The thought of rejection was more than he could take. Emotions were hard for the carnivorous captain. He slowly got to his feet and started to practice his different strikes. He found himself feeling stronger than before. No doubt, life on the harsh sea was strengthening his body, even if battles took their toll on it too. Blade rushed forward at the dummy, crossing the distance in a flash. “DOUBLE WOLF STRIKE!”, he shouted, and unleashed his attack. He hit the dummy with several quick punches, the sound of ripping material broke the air as he punched his way all the way through the dummy and sending the helpless dummy flying into the wall. Blade felt better, he’d have a mook repair it later. Blade tried to use dummies made of cloth and easily repairable for practice. Whatever the outcome, he wanted to look busy.

Blade tried to collect the dummy, but felt his chest tighten painfully, sending him falling to his knees with a loud thump. “Damn it...”, he cursed softly, his cane was across the room. He should have picked punch training or form changing, the combination was a little too much for his body right now. He knew any moment they would hit the island, he needed to get his cane and get above deck.

The rum had gone warm, this were looking dire within the room of the once Blues Pirate, Blair Flanagan. Merchant extraordinaire, she had neglected to purchase extra reserves of ice for her own personal cooler, her current supply having melted upon receiving a bullet hole through its metal exterior. The cool liquid had poured out, drenching her floor, but what was worse, was the severe lack of refreshing beverages to place again her head. She had been going over the stock list, noticing that they would be in dire straights were they not within reach of an island. The destination in question did not spark any resounding wells of hope within her heart.

Cactus Island, an attentively named wasteland, had built up renown for being a cesspool of pirate activity, many dangerous individuals having set foot upon the island and wreaking havoc among its populace. The one holy land had allegedly been desecrated bye the fearsome Leander Hastings within his hayday. She could only wish that the natives would be willing to trade with someone who wore the crest of the Jolly Roger. With a small rotation of her jaw, she clasped the small jar that held her deep beige liquid, holding it up against her head, praying for residual chill to be held within the jar. Once she found nothing there, the girl turned the cap before taking a deep swig of the thick spiced liquor. With an audible gulp, she returned to cap to where it had been, leaving the drink by her bedside table.

Seaking leather jacket left hanging, she plucked red checkered shirt from her wardrobe, each hand moving through the sleeve. With either sleeve, she hastily pushed them up to hang by her elbows, flexing both forearms to ensure she had access to easy mobility and comfort. Following this was her dark pants, the soft fabric stretching once her limbs went through them, the material clinging tightly to her skin. She equipped her belt that held an assortment of her tools along the sides of them, giving her a powerful demeanour. She then took a pendant form her desk drawer, having it hand around her neck.

With the door open, she exited her room and began to head towards the room of Wolf D. Shadow, the current crew member who she had informed was her charge until they returned to land. After his last plot had ended with one of the other crew members killed, she had explained that faith and trust were two things he would have to earn, for now it would be under surveillance as she put him to work across the ship. She did so begrudgingly, but it was a labour that would have to be done. Neglecting to follow her commands or performing the task with due compliance would result in a foodless night along with a beating, something which she had yet to slack on herself.

Her fist clenched into the ball, rum heavy on her breath, she began to crudely bang on the white haired boys door. "Wake up! Get up! Dress up!" she ordered, her words barking. She was already in a sour mood, Blade having retreated from her at any moment that he could, much to her frustration. She had been acting captain during his time at the sick ward, a task she performed with diligance, despite her constant treatments from Ant and Jackery. Reaching for behind her ear, the knifeketeer gently took the cigarette that had been lying there, placing the filter in her mouth, she awaited the boys company with her arms crossed over one another, a stern look having overcome her usually pretty face.

Jackery and his crew had not been idle in this past nearly half a month, after patching up the Blue Fang's ship enough for it to be mostly seaworthy he had ordered a disguise to be placed on the Nemo. The crew was still extremely wary of the other pirate crew that they were currently escorting after the incident during the meetup. While Jackery had recovered the two crewmen there was still going to be bad blood and a grudge held against them, something Jackery did not encourage but neither did he try to dispel since he felt quite the same.

The alterations to Jackery's ship were both simple and effective. A fake smokestack had been constructed behind the real one, the two turrets had a flimsy wooden structure that resembled cargo crates built over them and the sides of the ship had been bulged out with wood. While the ship was technically classified as a Patrol Boat Destroyer it was surprisingly large in its original configuration and these additions made it seem twice its size again. Further they were built so if the Nemo went to combat speeds the bulges would simply break off and the disguised turrets could free themselves quickly and easily by rotating, not even needing their own view of the target because of the central firing system the ship had. Overall he expected this disguise to fool people for at least forty-five minutes, far less if they got close. Still, if it helped it would be worth it and since the log pose would take 48 hours to set to the next island even if Jackery was in a hurry the crew might be stuck there for a while.

It was time to break the silence that had pretty much held for the time since Jackery's repair crew had patched up the Dawn Challenger enough to be seaworthy in calm weather. "Mr Smith, send signal to Dawn Challenger as follows. Compliments to the commander, requesting permission to come aboard. Then have a longboat and line readied along with four men while we await reply." They were too close to the island to use the den den system and Jackery had not yet found out whether they even had a communications system. Like himself they had been grossly unprepared when having come into the Grand Line and like him they had already almost paid the price for it.

"What a day to relax" said Wolf with a slow sigh. The warm sun that was caressing his face as he laid back on a blanket, that gently corresponded to the sand. Blending the scenery with oceans, soundly splashing alongside the shore, bringing water close enough for you to feel the cold warmth of the unforgivable sea. The trees behind brought shade as wing blew, carrying with him a clean smell of nature. You couldn't get enough of this place, and yet he was even happier when there were people next to him that he cared about. On his left laid Ant, Blade and Blair.. and on his right it was Arce. They were all relaxing, not a care about the world or the problems that they all faced. It was just them and the sun. Wolf was happy, as a big smile spread across his face. The dreams he had about them getting attacked and captured sure was vivid, but he was glad it was not true. He closed his eyes for a second, when he heard a bang. Thunder struck the sea, as dark clouds transmuted and came rushing towards them. In the distance sound a voice was heard, whispering "wake up~".

Suddenly everyone was standing, staring distantly. Wolfs attention shifted to his friends, as no life was seen in their eyes. Their eyes were blank, colorless. Another thunder struck, this time it struck right next to Wolf. He flew in the air, and fell on the ground. "get up!" was heard, this time more intensively. As he lifted his head, he noticed nothing happened to him even as lightning struck near him. But something did happen to Arce. He was gone. He got up and rushed to that spot. He fell to his knees, his eyes began to tear up as everyone else stood behind him. He stood up, turning to face them and as he was about to say something he stopped. The four of them were not alone, as they moved to the side to let someone else come close.

It was Jackery.. Wolf's eyes widen, he didn't know what was going on, but he knew that this uneasy feeling he felt towards the strange pirate and this situation was an old one. From a beach outfit, he was suddenly in his regular clothes with his katanas by his side. Quick to unsehath them, he rushed and as he was about to struck was apprehended by the rest of the crew. Ant and Blade held his arms, as Blair kicked the back of his knees, making him collapse before Jackery. This all happened so quickly, he didn't even see them move. But it didn't matter, he was at their mercy. Countless questions rushed through his head, but he couldn't speak. He just saw Jackery's smile as he pulled out a gun and leaned it on Wolfs forehead. The weather was going even wilder now, with the seas and the waves rushing and intercepting each other. The winds howling, ripping the trees from the ground, a big dark cloud appeared above them. "You failed to protect them, like you do every time.." Jackery said as he pulled the trigger, following by it a lightning strike that hit Wolf. In his head he heard a clear "Get dressed!"

"Whoa" he yelled, as he jumped up in his bead. It took him but a few seconds to realize where he was. "sight, guess it was not a dream but more of a reminder of what happened". A smile was on his face, but not from happiness or anger. It was just there, as this dream haunted him for two months now, every night... He went through his hair with his fingers, pulling it back from his face. He grabbed a rubber band and tied it all back together. Moving to the side of his bed, he sat there for a second looking at a mirror that was near him. Standing up, he moved towards it. He stood in front of it, looking at it. He tried, really hard but he couldn't recognize himself from just months ago. He changed so much, so drastically. From an inexperienced pirate, who's last voyage ended before it began to... well he was still inexperienced but still things changed, he changed.

He was not as trustworthy as he was, he doubted everyone and everything he did. This had to change, but he didn't know how or even when that would be. He put on his good pants, got his lucky shoes and digged out a shirt from a pile of dirty laundry he had laying around. He stood in front of the door, his hand reaching for the handle but the closer her got to it the further it seemed to be. He just didn't know how to face everyone every time he went out of his room. The hatred he felt from some of the crew was unbearable, as his actions that were led with good intentions led him here. He took a deep breath, and grabbed the door handle. He put up a smile, and he opened the door. The first thing he saw was Blair, angry as she was beautiful. "You look cute when you are angry" he said with a smile. "Another good day of scratching the bathroom with my tongue is it?"

Ant hadn't come around for a good twenty hours after he last passed out, and his first priority once he came around was a rather painful procedure. Extracting buckshot out of himself without pain relief, any meaningful pain relief would have sent him back to sleep n his current state and the last thing he wanted to do was let the wound heal around the buckshot, leaving them trapped inside him. No sooner had he bandaged himself up from that procedure, was he having to get to work. Attending to Blade, Blair, Wolf and all the mooks.

Speaking of Wolf, Ant felt he was probably the one with the most sympathy for the guy. Although he thought he was an idiot who lacked faith in everybody and was far too impulsive, he knew he meant well. Even if he didn't realise the fact that even if he was right his plan wouldn't have worked and would have got everybody killed if he wasn't lucky. Nevertheless, Ant didn't see wolf's punishment as over the top, he wasn't beaten and he was fed so long as he worked hard.

At might not have been busting a gut per se, but he was working flat out making sure everybody who was injured had their meds, all their dressings changed, wounds cleaned. All the follow up work. He'd also been studying the psychological side of medicine, he knew Wolf was there when the incident with Arce happened, and a lot of the mooks saw friends die so he wanted to help them there. But until he understood it properly he wasn't going to attempt to implement it just yet

And so it was another day, Ant's alarm went off, it was set a bit later than usual because he needed all the sleep he could get to be rested enough to treat everybody and recover from his wound. By now it was healing quite nicely, he figured even if it did leave a scar it would be a very faint one. But if he ever met that gunslinger again, well, he would have hell to pay for if it left even a faint scar.

Ant hadn't bothered to get dressed properly. He redressed his bandages and pulled on some jeans and shoes, if he wore a shirt it irritated his bandages so that was a firm no, for now, any excuse to wear less.

He was leaving his room and when Blair was shouting for Wolf, he said a quick "good morning" to Blair before Wolf walked out, geez that guy was a glutton for punishment. As he was walking past anyway, Ant figured he should dish out this one, that way he wouldn't enjoy it. A good sharp slap to the back of the head should do it, yep, accompanied by some burning words "You don't have the suave to pull of perv Wolf, work on it" completely casual as he proceeded to walk past.

He nipped into the medical room to pick up his medical bag, there was still a couple of mooks resting in there, they seemed okay so he'd check on them later. First came the captain, going from his ears, it sounded like he was in the training room so he headed there. A firm knock on the door was all Ant did before letting Blade know he was there "It's Ant, I've got your meds and some fresh bandages" Ant's voice was starting to carry more authority with his confidence, but he deliberately removed most of the authority from his voice when speaking to the captain, it was a matter of respect.

After a few minutes of taking the time to compose himself, Blade found walking around in his wolf form to be easier. It put a little more strain on his chest, but it was easier to steady himself on four legs instead of two. He scratched his ear with his claw, around the ship, he could hear his crew. His tail wagged slightly at the thought of them. Things were still bumpy between them, but, just knowing that they were alive brought him some small amount of joy. He grabbed his cane up with his jaws and walked out of the room. Blade looked up at Ant with a raised eyebrow, he shook his fur for a second. “Thank you Ant. But, I’m ok for right now. I changed my bandages this morning, and pain medication can wait. Besides, as long as you're cooking doesn’t kill me, I’m out of the woods so to speak.”, he said with a chuckled as he walked past Ant. Blade had made a choice, he was going to stop avoiding Blair, he would stop running from her, and from his fear of her rejection. He was a captain, and he needed to act like it.

He was admittedly disappointed he hadn’t been able to trigger his form again, but, he would simply try again later. The blue wolf made his way along the hallways. The familiar scent of his crew found him easier and so, he simply followed the scent. But by the way everyone likes to talk loudly, you didn’t really need zoan heightened sense of smell to find his lot. He paused at the end of the hallway before approaching them. He watched the situation for a few moments before approaching. He set his cane down before he spoke, “Ah. Blair. Wolf. Good morning. Blair, would you be able to spare a moment between making Wolf scrub the bathroom with his tongue and forcing him to cut wood with a butter knife of whatever it is you’ve been using to torment him?”.

A mook walked up beside Blade, looking worn out as he panted slightly from rushing around looking for the captain or first mate.“Captain! It appears the other ship has sent communication. I’m unsure what exactly they want, but it seems they used a friendly signal. We believe they wish to come aboard.”

Blade looked down at his cane for a moment. “Very well. We owe them that at least. Jackery has been very silent for a long time, a calculating man that should not be taken lightly. We’ll be hitting shore soon too. Send a reply, and welcome them. Wolf.”, Blade looked at him, “You shall be Jackery’s personal guild. You are to greet him, and treat him as an honored guest. Do you understand?”, Blade put a big emphasis on that last part. During the last few months, Blade had been showing a large increase in compassion, reacting less and less violently. But with a single sentence, he made it very clear there would be consequences if he were to disobey. Blade was not above leaving him to rot on Cactus island. “You should run into Anthony on the way. Tell him he’s responsible for docking the ship. He’s never really done it before, but, it’ll be good for him to learn new things. Besides, if he crashes, we're going ashore for repairs anyway.”, he paused for a moment, as Wolf walked past to do his task. “Don’t call Blair cute in such a mocking manner. EVER again.”, he said with a particular subtle growl to his voice, but he said it low so Blair wouldn’t hear.

Blade let things progress without trouble. Of course, Wolf didn’t have to do the task he was assigned, but what would the captain do to a disobedient crew member?

As she awaited for the boy to stumble out of bed, the sound of his feet thumping against the ground resounding from behind the door, she noticed that from afar came the familiar face of Ant Tanken. Giving him a quick wave as he wandered up in her direction, no doubt was he looking to check up on the various wounds that the crew had sustained from heir previous venture, Jackery having returned to his own ship. It was odd, for them to be on separate ships after all this time, then again, with some of his face missing, there was no doubt in her mind that much had happened since their time together. "Morning Ant, you know what we're having for breakfast?" she asked, her words somewhat mumbled as she she spoke with the cigarette shifting between her teeth and lips.

With the doors opening in front of her, she was greeted with the smiling face of Wolf. She gave him a garish nod in response before her eyebrows kneeded together at the quip about her face. Before she could berate him, Ant stepped in, delivering a blow to the back of the boys head before he continued on his way. "That'll suffice," she nodded, crossing her arms again, they had come undone with the comment, both of her hands having taken on a form that were primed for a bout of faux strangling. "Now then, we'll be docking soon so I've got a busy day for you - " she was cut off by the deep voice of her captain.

Her expression dropping, she hadn't expected to hear the sound of her elusive captain in the morning. Approaching the Devils Fruit User, she noticed that he was able to set aside his cane. She had heard he had been hobbling about on it throughout the week from one of the crewmen. The dark haired merchant leaned back along the wall, as her eyes flickered towards Wolf. She cocked a thumb towards the captain, "Seems you're free from me... for now! Mwahahaha," she chided, feigning a malicious laughter with a nonchalant tone.

With the orders having been issued, Blair pointed up towards roof above them, indicating towards the deck. Despite being a rogue from the law, she wasn't about to light one up inside a vessel. That'd simply be atrocious! As she made her way up to the deck, the girl remained quiet, making sure that the captain was following her. Waiting by the side of the ship, she allowed her back to rest along the railings, one arm stretched out over them to provide both stability and comfort. Her other hand fished out a lighter, which she put to good use by setting the smoke alight, the cloudy substance quickly filling her lungs. "How is the leg holding up, cap'n?" she asked politely, giving a glance towards the cane he had. She wanted to be able to chat with him, but had to provide some form of small talk first. As her red eyes looked at the captain, the mooks would be busy preparing for Jackery to arrive on deck, Wolf acting as his impromptu man servant. A trail of smoke escaping from the end of her smoke.

Jackery was just switching his usual uniform out for his disguise, instead of armor and face mask he wore his long coat over what was essentially just a fancier version of his crew's blue and white horizontal striped uniform. Silk instead of the heavy wool they wore with fringe that indicated his status as the captain of the ship. Standard enough to denote him as the commander of the vessel but anonymous enough to show he was not trying to stand out. Perfect for a merchant captain and just like the additions made to the Nemo he expected the disguise to stand up to no scrutiny whatsoever.

One of his men came forward to report that the boarding request had been acknowledged and permission had been given. Nodding Jackery quickly inspected the men chosen to accompany him picking one whose uniform was less than perfect and another sailor, one who was more inspection ready stepped into place and was accepted. "Mr. Mutsuki you and Mr. Sims have command while I am away. It will take 72 hours for the log pose to set to the next island so draw up a shore leave schedule to give every man at least a full day off ship and draw their pay." The sailor saluted and Jackery returned it before stepping into the boat with the other men and the small vessel was lowered into the water.

A rope connected the longboat to the Nemo which was let out while the smaller ship maintained position ahead of the Bluefang Pirate's own ship, that way neither vessel had to slow down and the oars barely had to be used to guide the launch over. As the boat tied to the larger ship's side the rope connecting to Nemo was thrown off and reeled back in while Jackery and the men with him climbed aboard. In an unintentional twist Jackery found he had come aboard right at where his own ship had blasted the deck during their meeting when it had seemed a trap had been sprung on them. He quickly took note of the hasty but solid repairs and surprisingly extensive cleaning job then turned his attention to the people who were waiting for him. He decided to speak first.

"So far none of my men have noticed any radio traffic concerning us on the open bandwidths which either means we are coming in without being noticed or any preparation for our arrival is being hidden. Either way your ship cannot make another port and it has been made very clear that simply letting your ship sink and acquiring another was not an open option." He made a gesture to one of his men who marched forward with perfect drill and stopped, bootheels clicking on the deck while he held out a ledger. "I have prepared exact and detailed inspection reports and repair instructions with several options based on how long you believe you have. With drydock and an experienced repair crew and no waiting before the work starts the minimal time is about a week to deal with the essential parts replacements."

As he walked out he felt the cold look he was receiving from Blair. Non the less he continued with what he had to say, topping it all with a smile. He felt if he smiled more and cracked jokes people around him would ease up a bit. One thing he didn't expect was to receive a back slap from Ant. If he was on good terms with the crew he would make a witty come back to his words, but they were not. He figured, if he just played it cool and obeyed to whatever punishment they laid on him, they would eventually warm up to him again. So as he stared at Blair's eyes, he couldn't help but feel uneasy at times. For a small girl she sure was fierce. The capt may be the beast by his looks, but her glare gave a much more threatening vibe. Speaking of.. here came Blade. He greeted him, and Wolf politely said "Good morning capt". Of all people he was the one he should treat better than others, with his decision he could have easily ended up overboard at any time, so noted to not piss him off. Running along came a mook, with his presence came a message. He carried it over to the present crew, speaking words of pure torture for Wolf. "Jackery.." Wolf said, gritting his teeth. He still had sour feeling for the man, not trusting his schemes yet he din't want to have anything with him. In short, he planed to avoid him at all cost, while he was here so he proceeded to say "Great, I will be going to the deeps part of the ship, think I have something there to..."

He stopped as capt pronounced his name. He was already turning around while he was saying this, so he dead stopped with his back turned. He turned around to face the capt's look. When he noticed that Blair had a cold look, think he knows where she got that from. He proceeded to listen to the man, and by the end of his sentence Wolf's eyes widen. "Wait a minute, why me? I mean, this could only lead to problems, don't see any good coming out of it." but alas it was not going to change the order he got. He tucked his head down, while capt gave him an another task. This one was much simpler, so he went to do that first. He took notice of Blair's malicious laughter as he passed her, as he restrained himself from reacting in a funny way. Not a good idea to make fun of Blair while her . As he passed him by, Blade gave him a warning that made him stop for a second. Even though he acted all tough, he still showed his feelings for her in a way only he could. He put up a little smile, acknowledging him with "Understood capt." After that he proceeded towards Anthony. Heading towards the medical room he was thinking of how could he avoid going through the job he was ordered to. Call in sick? Chop off a finger or two? Break a leg? Nothing would work.. Entering the medical room he called Ant, but he was not there. He saw somebody else. Those were the mooks, they were still injured from the plan he cooked up. He felt bad, really bad as he watched their faces.

They stared at him blankly, some with resentment. He killed one of them with his plan, and he tried to push down the feeling of regret. He just smiled at them, asking how were they, but they gave no response. As his smile, quickly, turned to a frown he started going out. On the doorstep he placed a hand on the door, turning his head to the side speaking "I'm really sorry." He shook his head, trying to get rid of the feeling.. "Damn Ant, where are you.." he spoke. Quickly enough he saw him near the training room. He must have went there to train, oh how long was it since Wolf trained. He was doing chores from dusk till dawn. "Ant, capt needs you to dock the ship and.." he thought for a second "assist me with Jackery. Blade told us to guide him through the ship, don't really know why me, you would suffice but we should do as we are told." He though, if Ant was there he could be in the middle and Wolf would just stumble along and avoid doing anything communication like with Jackery.

Blair was asking what's for breakfast and Ant actually had no idea so he had to think of it on the spot so just said whatever came to mind "meat and eggs" yeh, that'd probably be it, he'd increase the vegetables later on but protein was important right now whilst the crew were injured. But so was everything else, balancing everybody's diet for their height, weight and body composition was hard.

Seemed Blade was on the ball, he'd already done his bandages and taken his medicine, Ant was tempted to try and check Blade had taken his medication but he suspected the captain would take offence at that. Ant would just check the stock in the medical room and keep track of who take what when. He'd know soon enough if the captain is actually using them. He laughed a little when Blade spoke of Ant's cooking, it was improving but the progress was so slow people probably didn't notice much. Ant had many talents but cooking wasn't one of them, thankfully he was learning "Don't worry captain, I've delegated that job out" it was probably music to Blade's ear's, and his taste buds for that matter.

Ant figured means he was here, he might as well do a few minutes training, it all added up and it was probably best to avoid too much training at this particular moment in time, they were docking on the first island on the Grand Line and they didn't know what awaited them, it was quite exciting really. Either way, it was best to have as much energy left in the tank just in case anything had happened.

He'd been doing a lot of finger and leg based conditioning recently, he was planning for two very specific techniques. He'd drilled them in slow motion many a time and he was pretty sure he could do it. He just wanted to make sure his body was completely ready for what it would entail.

Ant grabbed a training dummy and placed a couple of weights around the base, just to keep it properly weighted down so it wouldn't move. He adopted his combat stance, slightly on the balls of his feet with his legs about shoulder width apart and his toe in line with his heel. One deep breath later and he burst into a flurry of right roundhouse kicks, switching between the head and ribs with each strike before following up with a left hook and a right cross before switching to his left leg for kicks, finishing with a push kick, which actually pushed the dummy back.

He took a second to catch his breath when Wolf walked in, he might have caught the tail end of his drills, if he did, he'd have noticed Ant's speed was improving a lot.

Ant wasn't entirely sure the captain would have told Ant to go with Wolf to show Jackery around, he didn't overtly question it. But the way he raised his brow made it clear he wasn't at all convinced. It was more likely that Wolf just wanted back up in case it turned nasty or just to have some emotional support there. He figured he'd try to make a joke out of the situation as he walked past Wolf and gestured his head for him to follow, making his way to the steering wheel as he teased Wolf a bit

"You know the bright side of being Blair's personal slave for a bit? You won't have to spar with us. For me, personal what annoyed me about the whole situation is that you didn't have faith in our judgement, and even if we had made a bad choice. If Jackery really was bad he would have killed us all when you tried to revolt"

Ant sighed as he entered the main room, he was paying careful attention to everything and started to line the ship up, it was quite tricky, but he was taking it slow and he didn't think he was bumping into anything along the way, lucky that

"I have sympathy for you and I know you mean well, but just remember future and present can be like a thick fog, we know where we've been but we don't know where we are or where we are going. Sometimes you need to have blind faith in others to guide you, just don't let your mistake define you, let it improve you"

Then Ant looked Wolf directly in the eye, his voice carrying fair bit of authority, despite the fact he was taking a risk on potentially being wrong about the whole situation

"But first you've gotta face it, so go show Jackery around, we both know I'm not meant to be with you but I'll catch you up. Just make sure Jackery puts any medical books back in the right place and doesn't move any bookmarks, they're in an exact order and I'll give you a dead leg if they're not right"

He meant it, it was a pain in the ass having to go through all the books dividied between his own room and the medical room, as it stood he knew exactly where each book was and exactly what points he needed to brush up on and where to find them. If they were moved it would cost him a good half a day to check everything else was in its proper place.

Blade looked up at the deck above, after all, their ship did have a hole that went between decks from their last encounter. And, he wanted to at least be on deck when Jackery arrived. He snatched up the cane again and followed Blair as she lead the way. He noticed that she kept looking back to see if he was following, as if he would go into hiding again. But, he didn’t blame her. He didn’t short his duties as captain, he just made himself very ghostly, with sighting of him being rare but orders being constant. Such behavior echoed of the old Blade. The one who locked himself away for weeks on end while on the Crimson Pirate Crew. He hide because he didn’t want to face his own feelings, his crew, and didn’t want to unleash his anger. Being a carnivorous zoan, his anger got away from him quickly, although it was much rarer now. No more throwing Ant against walls, breaking plates to make points, or smashing anything else that got in his way.

He paused when she lit her cigarette, keeping his face blank despite his insides twisting with a sickening feeling. His nose was highly sensitive, and the scent of her cigarettes was nearly as bad as Ant or Wolf after one of their brodown training sessions. But, because it was Blair, he kept such words unspoken. Although, he had more than once mentioned how they were bad for her health, not that he had much room to talk with his rampant alcoholism. “My leg?”, he echoed the question back at her with a raised brow. He shifted back into his human form, thick wolf fur giving way to smooth human features and receding to show his pale scarred skin. He stood up, leaning on his cane as he ran his hand through his hair. “The leg isn’t as bad as my chest.”, he looked down at his chest, it wasn’t as bad as it had been. I mean, once you basically hold in your own internal organs the only way to go is up right? But it did still hurt a lot, and he was in less than ideal battle condition. He looked at Blair, really looked at her. For the first time in a long time, because he had avoided her for so long. It was only a few weeks but it felt like it had been years.

He tightened the grip on the cane for a moment, composing himself before he spoke once more. “But. I’m not here to talk about my minor bumps and scratches. Your a women of action. One who moves decisively, let us not waste time with small talk.”, his eyes dropped down to the deck. He leaned against the railing and lifted his cane, rubbing his fingers over the dull blood stained wood. Then, finally, he looked at her, locking eyes with her. She had his full, undivided attention. “Shall we get to the main reason why we need to speak? I can’t run from it anymore. I can’t be the monster who hides in a cage rather than face feelings. I won’t lose my humanity again. I said what I felt I needed to. I’ll admit it lacks the finesse that you truly deserve Blair.”

While Wolf stood at the door of the training room, he observed Ant a little before he went on and talked. He leaned against the door, crossing his arms, watching Ant from the back. He noticed he placed weights around the dummy, probably to not move it as much. Ant was quite in his training as Wolf came, might have even be at the end. He was quite impressive. The way he trained was usual, mixing kicks and punches, but the speed was almost unmatchable by his sight. Wolf couldn't keep up with some of his combinations, they looked so clean and well put together he wondered if he was ever going to get close to Ant. He decided not to dwell on the ill thought and asked Ant what he wanted. His hopes were not high, that he can somehow fool Ant into doing his task, but he wanted to give it a shot. After all Blade didn't say if he had to do it alone or not. Ant seemed unconvinced by Wolfs act, but still he decided to go for it. He made a gesture towards him to follow, and so Shadow did. On the way out Ant made a joke followed up by a lesson. Wolf didn't need to hear the other part, he already knew some of it already but still he wasn't convinced he did a bad thing. The outcome might have been really bad, but if his plan went off well they would have survived.. Wolf sighted, cutting his thoughts. He didn't reply to Ant regarding his lecture, but he did to the joke. "Huh, you are lucky I have to scrub the whole ship and what not, it gave you the time catch up to me".

As he followed Ant, he made his way to stand two thee steps behind him. He still didn't feel comfortable with standing next to his friends, time would change all that but it needed more off it. The main hall was not far away, and as Ant went there, Wolf followed up. The whole time Ant would talk, he would kinda look everywhere, pretending it wasn't clicking with him and that he still did the right thing. But, to be honest, most of it made sense to him, but still he is so stubborn it just wasn't possible for him to act that way. He tried, he really did try to see the error of his ways here, but he couldn't. Everything he noticed is that they would die if he didn't act and that's it.. He didn't say anything out loud of course. Ant wouldn't get the way he was thinking, none of them would.. As his eyesight crazed around the room, it got hooked as soon as Ant looked at him. Anthony saw through his little charade, he knew it was possible, but he hoped he wouldn't be stuck to Jackery's back the whole time he was on the ship. "Well, he kinda pointed me in the direction of the task, but he didn't say anything regarding you not having to come.. Guess it's a free choice. I just hope he doesn't go snooping around, as I don't think I can stop him that easily. Also, don't worry about your books.. I already rearranged some of them. Have fun figuring it out" he said as he saluted him and ran off. He ran a little out of the room, but paced himself down as his smile worn off. He had to man up and do the job now, huh? Well, he was prepared for the worst so nothing could really surprise him in a bad way. He walked to the top deck, slowing his step the closer he got.

As he arrived, so did Jackery with his mean. He seemed so formal, while Wolf kinda look uninterested to be there. He started speaking, so Wolf cared little to listen. He picked up a part where they couldn't go to the port with a ship like this and following that he also received a plan Jackery devised. The way they all acted so well mannered, agitated Shadow.. They acted like a bunch of marines pretending to be pirates. He even wondered if they were actual pirates, which lead Wolf to distrusting Jackery even more. "Look, I'm not here to plan things out with you, I just need to show you around the ship and to where the cap. is..." remembering the look he recieved from Blade and his harsh words Wolf continued with "...sir". He than turned around, showing with his hand to follow him. He grunted something, not even him knowing what, but the sir part really left him with a poor taste in his mouth. He would lead Jackery and whoever of them followed him to where Blade and Blair were, avoiding talking to him as much as possible.

She was on edge. It was obvious to her and the rest of the crew, her anxiety having manifested in the form of cold looks and an all around hostile atmosphere that surrounded her, soaring overhead like a dark cloud. She felt it to be a necessary evil, as they were now venturing within the depths of the Grand Line. Having been raised in a society that lived within its own world, she had only ever heard the tales of the Grand Line from sailors and Marines, her own brother having been stationed within the recesses of the mighty sea. The Grand Line was a fierce place and she had to match it. All ready had they lost a member of their crew in the form of Arce. She wasn't about to allow the remainder of her friends to be swallowed up by the infamous Crew Graveyard. It was for this reason that Wolf would have no doubt found himself to be alienated, same as Ant. She wouldn't have been surprised if she were the reason for the captain's constant aversion of her and her previous attempts at striking conversation.

With the captain complying with her inquiry regarding the damage done to his leg, he treated her to a displayal of his abilities.Reverting to his human form, he revealed the scars that ran along his skin. Giving them a nod, she took a breath before taking a drag of her cigarette. His chest looked worn, a variety of wounds still present. No doubt the medical capabilities of Ant, the captain himself, alongside the infamous Jackery would have helped to accelerate the process. At the end of the day though, time was needed to heal these wounds of his.

With his striking words, Blair couldn't help but have her red eyes widen in shock. She hadn't known the captain to try and be this open. It was quite out of the ordinary. She gave a small smile before she allowed on hand to go over the side of the ship, towards the lapping waves. There, she dropped her cigarette, the foamy waters below consuming the drug within its waves. She gave yet another smile, her ears perking as she noticed that Jackery and his men were now approaching, their vessel having come together with their own. Giving a small nod, the Merchant looked back towards the eyes of her captain. "You know I don't doubt that," she began, referring to his statement about his humanity. "I believe in you Blade. Always did, always have. It's just, for all this time we've been together... I never really got to know you. I only what you've chosen to see. I don't know your past... Your goals, where it is we're headed to as a crew..." she trailed off, her body shaking a little from revealing her words. They had been pent up for quite some time.

She closed her eyes, turning away before giving a complacent wave towards Jackery. "You don't have to tell me now, but I'd like to hear it one day. Blade, you can trust me."

So Wolf was putting on his fake confidence again, Ant did wonder if wolf realised that when he did things like that it was quite telling about the fact he knew he needed to get stronger. He'd been through it himself, though he was a lot more open about his weakness and didn't bother trying to say otherwise. Not that Wolf was doing a bad thing, everybody had their own way of coping and Ant respected that.

Wait.... did he really just admit to rearranging his books. He clenched his fist as he imagined the work ahead of him now if Wolf was telling the truth. If he didn't already have a big task ahead of him, Ant would have threatened him because if that was true, he was going got give Wolf the mother of all beatdowns when it was next time for sparring. One does not simply touch the doctor's books and get away with it, that's just rude.

Anyway, back to the task a hand, parking up the ship. He was hardly doing the neatest job ever, but by the time he stopped it was neat enough for the crew to disembark and it didn't look entirely out of place given the state the ship was in Hopefully they could get some proper work done on it here, he just hoped it didn't look too bad next to Jackery's. Although the man's actions were entirely reasonable, he still wanted to punch the guy for knocking him out with that weird trick. Ant didn't take defeat willingly so he hoped he would join in with sparring soon so he could get some revenge.

Looking over the island was a depressing sight. He had read about the islands in the Grand Line befoe and this was Cactus Island, so many people were buried there. So many hopes and dreams cut short for the sake of a bounty, so many children that could have been born. Ant vowed to himself he would not end up like one of those tombstones, he'd die from old age after finishing a story about his pirate adventures, with his entire family around him.

He snapped back to reality and was surprised to find a tear in his eye, thank goodness nobody was about. He sighed to himself, no matter how strong he became he knew he would always have a soft heart, but that wasn't a bad thing per se.

He headed back down to his room, it wouldn't feel right going around this island not properly dressed, uncomfortable or not. He pulled on a black shirt, it was clean, since becoming a doctor his hygiene had come a long way, it wasn't quite perfect as he didn't have time to clean his room to the standard he'd like with his training and studying. He also needed to arm himself just in case.First things first, he had to check all his weapons were fully loaded, yep. Next was to make them easier to carry, he couldn't remember where he got his keyrings but they were rather useful. They could shrink down two items so he chose his gun-staff and one of his swords, attaching them to his jeans securely before securing his remaining sword to his back ready to use.

All ready, he headed out on deck to see Blade and Blair together, well he just fucked up. Well, it'd be worse to just walk away now so he'd talk about food "Breakfast is almost ready, it'll be in sandwich form so we can eat it as we head out" he was pretty sure he told the mook to do that, it would save time and sandwiches were always tasty.... even if it was a few extra carbs in the bread but he balanced it throughout the day.

Jackery nodded sharply and took the ledger from his crewman who stepped back after being unburdened and joined the others guarding the longboat. There might not have been any incidents since the first meeting but Jackery was not going to let the primary escape route off this ship possibly be compromised, hence the guards. "Very well then, lead on Mr...Wolf? But one moment if you would. I remember you and your actions, while you should have more trust in your companions you were fully correct about the danger you and they were in. Your choice of action however was either cowardly or ignorant, if you were convinced enough to go against what the others were saying then you should have picked a more effective method of saving everyone you care about. You had control of the lower deck enough to take out two of my men effortlessly, you should have instead have taken the men who were guarding this vessel's powder magazine and detonated it when my ship came to dock."

Normally Jackery would not have called someone out afterward for failing to be effective at killing him but since he was with people who were...while not likely to be allies they were unlikely to be enemies and that was a lot more in Jackery's favor than there was otherwise in the Grand Line. An image came to him, back when he was hiding out on Boin just after the Marines had begun their attack he had come across a crew they had captured but did not have the time to properly process and send to Impel. Instead the expedient method had been to crucify the crew while the captain was dipped in boiling tar and caged. And this was the best outcome of capture that Jackery knew of.

"Do not take what I said the wrong way, I do mean that there is far worse than death that awaits all of us if those we have made ourselves the enemies of manage to take us alive. In my time as a trainee marine I was told of the prison that awaits all captured pirates eventually. Impel Down, where for years they will be tortured with animals, by boiling alive, by forcing them to live in a field of razor trees and many other far more terrible things. They cannot be defeated and they will not stop coming. Just to get at me alone a city was shelled, an island was burned and a community was eliminated, half dragged to slavery and the useless remainder put in iron cages to die of thirst and exposure with their fingers broken as they tried to escape."

This last one had been Clifftonville. Jackery had not returned to see it but his crew, all refugees from the event, had sent scouts to discover the fate of the people.
