The side gate was no problem, he was sure there was going to be guards but nothing. Must have only been the front door that was guarded but that in it's self seemed weirder. He couldn't wait to find out if he was wrong so he gently moved the gate making sure to move its slowly as to not make a sound. The gate opened into a small garden like area which led into a graveyard. With two entrances on the side of the building Larkin opted for the one which led to the bell tower. Astra was quietly stalking behind him, it seemed she was uneasy too. As they entered he spotted a stair case leading up, he stopped and signalled to Astra to wait out of site, well as best as a behemoth of a dog can. She found an alcove for a window to sit in, the bench in front of it would make her less obvious but still noticeable if anyone paid attention but it would have to do. He crept up to open the door so she could get in easier if needed, that's when he finally heard something. A woman's voice could be heard silence a crowd of mumbles. Larkin quickly made it up the stairs so he could hear better and hopefully see what was happening. At the alter was a tall woman with long flowing blonde hair, you could almost say it was golden. She wore a t-shirt with a shirt loosely done up over it, a longing skirt and thigh high boots. She was also covered head to toe in jewellery, two gold piercings in her bottom lip, several in each ear, bangles covered her arms while a few necklaces hung around her neck. Two sword and a dagger rested on her hip, gold filigree adorning the handles and scabbards. The robe she would use to disguised her self in seemed to be folded up over the alter. "Soooooo... I have some excellent news." She beamed down to her still cloaked crew, her voice was soft and sweet. Larkin assumed this must be Talas, she certainly did seem to like gold. He silently moved close to the balcony to get a better idea of his surroundings. The crew was in the center of the hall with a few sitting on the pews, the rest of the upper level seemed clear. That's when he noticed it, a large iron chandelier hanging over enough of the crew to cause a mess but the rope keeping it up was on the other side of the floor. He slowly started to move when he noticed that she was pulling something out of her robe. "See this little monster here." She held out a wanted poster. "His name is Fudo Saiken, a real monster. Most of you probably has heard of him in some way or another. Well the New Age Pirates are planning to make more of that monster fu fu fu fu." The crowd seemed less excited about this news but before someone could say anything she burst out load than before. "But they are giving us exclusive rights to distribute the serum. Think of it... we make the monsters at a high cost than we just follow behind and clean up all the riches left in there path of destruction. IT'S A GOLDEN PLAN!! FU FU FU FU FU." The crew this time joined in with the excitement. "They should be along soon to finalise the deal and gives some of the product. We will do a test run here and see how well it deals with the Red Blade Pirates. It's been tough on all of you waiting here, we've lost some of our crew and worse our gold. However always remember its all worth it for the-." They finished here sentence with a loud chorus of "PAYDAY!" 'Oh shit...' was the only thought which rang clearly in his head at the moment. He had heard a bit about this Fudo Saiken but if they were going to make more then the island around them could become a living hell. More pressingly was that more pirates where on the way and if Larkin didn't act fast he was going to be in a lot of trouble. He bolted for the rope no longer worried about being spotted, with one swing sending it crashing down. The echoes of screams filled the church, Larkin moved quickly jumping down to the ground floor with a downward swing felling one of the golden pirates as he landed. Some of the pirates regained there awareness now that they had a target to focus on. With a whistle Astra bound out of from behind the door grabbing a pirate by the ankle and dragging him to Larkin, here teeth sinking in the harder he struggled. Larkin stabbed his sword into the man's chest as if he was simply trying to make the sword stand in the floor. "See this why people cant have nice things. All I wanted to do was come get something which belongs to a friend of mine. BUT NOOOO, you have to go and try and make monsters. For fuck's sake why do i have to get caught up in shit like this. Seriously. So I'm guessing the pretty little lady there is you boss Talas." As he said it he pulled the sword out of the now dead pirate flicking the blood into the face of the near by pirates. "That's unfair, you know my name but I don't know yours. Whatever shall we put on you grave stone, Mr..." 'Well that probably means no negotiating, well to be fair I did just murder a bunch of her crew, that's fine I guess. Wait I'm pretty sure that's the only thing I've been doing since I got to this island just murdering her crew and some of the Red blades... oh and I got shot, That was fun.' "DR. Grimm, that is with two m's. Honestly don't worry about the grave stone, I'm sure you'll need it for all the corpsey breadcrumbs I made out of you friends. I would feel bad but it was JUST. SO. MUCH. FUNNN." He Said with a broad grin. "Whoever kills him first gets a bonus. fifty percent of the first serum sale, all to your self." She said beaming a cat like smile back. She lent against the altar and watched as what was left of her crew slowly moved on Larkin. He and Astra split up bolting between the pews to try and distance themselves from the pirates. As Larkin thought they didn't care about Astra and just focused on him which is perfect. The pirates split up between the pews to try and corner him but Astra started barking behind one with and axe. They all turned out of surprise only to see Larkins blade cutting threw the guys throat and hand, leaving the body and the axe to hit the ground and a few fingers to fly off. Larkin admired this about his fighting style when fighting groups, many of his foes tended to treat it as if it was just him. It's was more like fighting a pack of wolves, they would separate them and slowly take them down one by one. With only four more to go minus the boss lady but time may not be on his side, who knew how long it would take the New Age Pirates to get here. He needed to end this quick. He quickly jumped back inviting the pirates to follow after him leaving one exposed at the back. Astra quickly takes advantage and clamps down hard on the pirates sword arm and yanks him back. The scream distracts two of the others but another pirate with an axe isn't falling for it this time. Not that it mattered, Larkin's Grimm Strike had already caught him in the shoulder, crushing the bone and gouging his chest on its pathway down. As the other two turned to look back at Larkin, realising all to late his plan. Again it was to late as each pirate had a sword protruding through there gut, the blade twisting as it went to make sure they would bleed out quickly. As he withdrew his sword from the now human sheaths he flicked the blood across the floor behind him. Slowly walking up the side of the hall to the pirate still wrestling with Astra he looked Talas in the eyes and smiled as he pushed his sword into the unaware pirates neck. "You're turn beautiful." She didn't seemed phased by anything that just happened which unnerved Larkin a little. "WOW, you are good mr- DR grimm. Why don't you join my crew, the pay is exceptional." "There doesnt seem to be much of a crew left." He said gesturing to all the corpses as he passed the chandelier. "I have more to my crew than this, plus i can always buy more. You however seem like a promising investment, so join me. Or is it more than gold you want." She seductively leaned forward a little and gave a wink. "You can buy stuff like that too, there's no limit to what you can buy except the Beli required and trust me that will not be a problem if you join us." Larkin wasn't a hundred percent certain what was pissing him off about what she said but he felt rage just building up and then he went to talk but something other than what he intended came out. "You can't pay off death. There is no escaping him, there is no hiding from him, there is no bribing him, there is no persuading him. There is no mercy from death." Some sense of fear seemed to sink into her skull this time, a little shiver ran down her spine. Even Astra could tell not to get in Larkin's way, it was not that he would attack her too but more she could tell right now she would only get in his way. "I am Dr Larkin Grimm and I will be your reaper today. Prepare for your judgement." Larkin wasnt in a battle stance rather his left hand was calmly holding his sword down to his side while his right rested his sword on his shoulder almost like it was a scythe resting there. His eyes felt like they were looking through her rather than at her but what made it worse was his grin was on full display this time. Each step he took close echoed as the steel toe struck the marble floor. She drew hers swords ready. "Fool, money is everything you need in life. You'll regret not taking my offer." She took he battle stance, left blade facing down presumably for defense and up swings. Larkin could feel this overwhelming joy bubbling up along side the anger, he was going to have an interesting challenge and was finally going to let loose. his twisted side worried him sometime but not this time, this time he was going to relish in it. |

The angry man

Phoenix took a few moments to rest his mind from the constant combat stress now that he had accomplished his current aim. During which, he observed the burning ship of Quart Z. Blados as it began to slowly sink into the waters of the dock. The heat that emanated from the wreckage was enough that Phoenix could feel it on the little skin of his body that could still feel heat and cold. It was an oddly soothing sensation, something that the man had almost forgotten completely, having most of his feeling completely dulled. This was one of the reasons that he was not too worried about taking some blows in the fights that he had take part in today. A scratch or cut to his mechanical body meant almost nothing to the cyborg. Unless it was destroying his movement capability, he was essentially dull to the pain, something which was a boon, but also troubled the old remnant of a human. If he had lost so much feeling, could he really consider himself to still even be.....human? It was a question he could not yet find an answer to. Perhaps that was a good thing, for he feared if the answer was not what he would want to accept. Looking at the corpses of the captain, his quarry, and the old priest, who's life he had ended in the process of claiming his kill, Phoenix pondered as to whether they may be experiencing something like what he had while he lost consciousness, and was considered almost brain dead. Would they be analysed, pulled to pieces by their own experiences and their own mind, and their own fears? Probably not. Surely it was because he was still alive, that he had those experiences himself, for the mind cannot exist without a body, a brain and energy from nutrients, can it not? In which case, the cyborg believed they were probably having a better experience of what was death than he had experienced while not being quite dead enough. It led the man to wander in his thoughts further. What would it take for himself to die? Indeed, he still had his vital organs, although they had been altered and armoured, repaired and improved, like a ship is improved to brave tougher waters. His heart was only one of many organs though, and could those organs be replaced with artifical machinery that would be able to simulate the same needs? Without the need to keep the biologial tissue of arms and legs and muscles and bones within each of those limbs, he could almost exist with only his brain, which in fact was close to his current existence. But without the brain, he would not have a mind. A personality. A humanity. So, he had found an answer; or at least a temporary one. "My brain and thought makes me human." Although it had not been the resting period he really required, really it had been more of a reflective moment, the cyborg was slowly understanding himself more, and finding his place in this world again, redefining himself. The old Phoenix, the boy who felt destined to be a pirate, made his choice. Looking at the corpse of the two, he began to speak to them, as if explaining himself, " I am not a pirate. My father and family were, even I for a while believed myself to be one. I am actually a mercenary. I hold no preference to pirates, but I may work for them. I hold no preference to marines, but may indeed work for them. "If pay is right, and cause is pure, I will bring justice, and be the cure"" Of course the corpses did not respond, except for making some funny noises that sounded like breaking wind. In fact this was the air expunging from the bodies. In anycase, Phoenix would need his proof of having killed the Red Blades leader. The cyborg had access to the target's full body, in which case the man thought it best to bag him and take him to Larkin to figure out what to do with it. Having noticed that there were some stalls around, the cyborg was intuitive enough to rip off the cloth that formed one of the roofs of these stalls, wrapped the body of Red Blade in it, and tied it up. Additionally, the cyborg grabbed a support pole from one of the stands, and slid it through the gap between the knot in the cloth, lifted the now wrapped corpse, rested the weight against his left shoulder, and began to walk back to the original church in order to begin his tracking search of Larkin. Phoenix was actually quite surprised at how light the weight of the body was, although being made of steel, his body was much stronger and formed a strong natural counterweight against his quarry. Retracking his steps yet again began to bore the cyborg, however he was making good progress, passing back through the streets rather swiftly. It did not take long at all to reach the old church again which had now began to show signs of the scarring of the fire that had taken place, with the wood that was left of the church now having turned darkest black, almost like it had turned to charcoal in place. Sure enough to the touch, said wood now broke like it was cuttlebone. There were also still the remains of those who had perished in the fire, the man who had been burned in the church, the man who had been blown to pieces, and the man who had been put out of his misery first by Larkin himself. In fact, now that he looked around, there were traces of blood moving off around the side of the church. The old man hadn't really paid attention before, having been more interested in taking on the Red Blade pirates. Noting that there were no others around, Phoenix began following this new trail, in the hopes that it may lead to more clues as to where Larkin and Astra had gone. However, the trail went kinda cold. It seemed this must have just been the place that they hid when the fire happened. A tad too close to the church for his liking. It was then that he remembered he had dropped some of his medicinal liquids that powered his suit while he had followed the patrol previously. Again he set back down those routes, and this time he came across some more blood and corpses, however the tracks were all over the place, crossing over each other, disappearing down other streets, which then only came back around through other streets. Obviously they had used the divide and conquer approach. By the look of the corpses, Astra had just as much success with killing these pirates as Larkin, with a disturbing tendency to rip open her target's throats. There was no way anyone was surviving that to tell the tale to others. Additionally, Phoenix came upon a scrap of bandage material, muddied on the pebbled ground. The pirates around here were not bandaged, and didn't seem the sort to carry such things with them out here. This made Phoenix think. It would only be natural if the man had not fought too much that he may have been caught by an attack or a shot. Even the best men could be wounded. Hell, Phoenix himself had taken some damage too, although it was minimised. In the end, the cyborg saw that a final set of tracks led off from this second group to another church, closer to the cathedral. So indeed, they must have been slowly moving towards Phoenix's intial position. the suited man approached the church, still carrying his wage packet, he couldn't help but notice that murky weeds and red moss had begun to spread around, as though this place was filled with death. Well of course, it was a cemetery island, but this was a more diseased-kind of dead than a natural decay. Something seemed off about it. The door was left slightly ajar, and seemed a bit ominous. Moving around the church, Phoenix discovered that a grave-robbed cemetery. This answered the strange smells and growth. Some of the corpses had fully skeletalised, while others still had organs that were decaying, and this was where the smell specifically was coming from, with a trail of red moss sprouting from some of the bodies. Maybe they died of a disease a while back. Luckily, the cyborg was not in a position to be contaminated by the spores. This indeed looked like the older part of the town, for there were lots of cobwebs and the feeling of the church being derelict became quite likely in Phoenix's mind. If all the priests were hiding, it made sense that much of the town would become unused, especially if some of them began leaving. If this situation of pirate crews coming here often was the case, then he could understand that the priests would rather leave than fight. The cyborg also noticed that there were other churches around, not to mention that this graveyard was linked to others, with gates connecting them. Most had been treated the same way as this one. Luckily, Phoenix came upon another shred of bandage, which in his mind symbolised Larkin, and also some mud prints of a wolf, which could only be Astra's due to their size. The prints led him to a specific graveyard among the many, which still had spades stuck in the ground. Ah, he was getting somewhere now. For a while he had been chasing breadcrumbs, and wasn't sure if he was going in the right direction. And then he saw it. Finally he had made his jackpot, slumped next to one of the spades with a bag laying over him was a priest-dressed character, and another that was rather rotund, with his throat ripped out. The second one guaranteed it was the work of his friends. Putting his hand to the skin of these corpses, he could see that they were recently killed. Hidden further in the graveyard, and noticeable with a little more thorough observation, were the bodies of two other priests, both with sliced necks, rather than ripped. Larkin had indeed been busy. In fact, he was surprised that Larkin was alright with killing these priests, although due to his sense of right and wrong, it was likely that they were, as he had heard Larkin theorise earlier, fakes. Now, that was an intriguing thought. Before he could stall any longer though, the cyborg could see a slight blood trail moving off. It led out of the graveyard back down a few streets, moving away again from the cathedral. However, it led to yet another church. This place was literally teeming with the bloody things. You'd think that a cathedral and a single church would be enough, but obviously this place felt it required this many. Religion was indeed a confusing thing to Phoenix. He preferred spirituality untainted by religion. Facing the main doors was a fallen chair, which seemed odd to the cyborg, but no less odd than some of the other strange things he had seen on this island. There was a convenient side alley next to this church, which looked like a nice place to ambush someone. Having tracked Larkin for around half an hour, Phoenix had begun to try to think like his partner in order to follow him. It was becoming a habit. Again, there were a group of bodies around the chair, however, upon closer inspection, Phoenix could see that one of them was Asam, one of the two priests that had "welcomed" them to the island. Seeing his corpse oddly made the cyborg smile; obviously he had been judged for his evils by Larkin. If this was the case, the priests were indeed false, for Larkin would not kill without reason. Considering that the church was rather sizable in comparison to the other churches, it seemed like a more important one than the others, although still smaller than the cathedral that the Red Blades had commandeered. Maybe whoever the priests were was discoverable within, for it looked like it was still in use, with no cobwebs around the stained glass windows or spires. If that was the case, whoever was here, had been here for longer than just a week, and was using this place for a reason. Noting that there was a side entrance, Phoenix expected that his friend would have used that path. However, if that was the case, the priests may have sent people to look over that area. Instead, Phoenix chose to enter through the front doors. Inside was a candle lit main hall, with all that you would expect within a sizeable church, with pillars to the roof, pews, and an organ. There were a couple priests sat down on the pews, and some at the sides, swaying metal implements that were smoking to and fro. Immediately as Phoenix entered, with his corpse-in-a-bag, the others snapped to look at him, and approached him with what was surely the intention to remove him from the place. The cyborg placed his capture on the floor, with the pole leant against a table with some propaganda leaflets on it which read "we buy your valuables, at any cost!", and began his method. " Do you know one of your flock called Asam? He has been judged by god outside, along with others. Do you wish to join them?" Phoenix then fell to a boxing pose, ready to defend himself, but the priests actually did not attempt to attack him. Instead trying to shake his hand. "Oh sir! Have you come to save us from the Shining Gold Pirate devils?!" This perplexed the Phoenix. The man dropped his guard for a moment in order to continue the conversation which he thought had finished, "Hang on, what?! Shining who?" Another spoke, "Traveller, it looks like you have a lot to learn. However, we must ask you to keep quiet, for in the adjacent rooms are more of her treasure hunters" This was juicy, here in this place, in what seemed like the base of another pirate crew, was a small collection of actual priests. "We are the leading priests of the island, and we have been kept here against our will by the lady known as Talas." Again, this information was hitting the man quite fast, and unravelling the mystery before himself. Did they tell Larkin this? "Have you come across a man and his wolf pet, he is called Larkin, and is my friend who had come here. I have reason to believe that he is around here." Just then, another priest entered the room, closing the door behind him, before moving to the priest who had been speaking to Phoenix, and whispering something. The other priests reaction was quite surprised, and then was one of low chuckling. "It seems, traveller, that you are telling the truth, for a man and his wolf have interrupted a meeting that Talas has started with her leading members." This was incredible news. Larkin was here! His tracking had worked. Immediately the cyborg began asking in his mind where he had to go to meet up with his friends, but before he could ask, multiple pirates burst into the room, and began shouting at the priests that they had gone too far and accused them of sending an assassin to kill them. Then they set eyes upon Phoenix, whom the legitimate priests began to stand behind. Phoenix knew how this was going to go down. So he acted up to the part. "Yes,yes,yes.....this island has had enough of pirates for one day. I have killed Red Blade, and now you will succumb too. We are cleansing this land of garbage, so lets be having you." The cyborg lifted his hand, and initiated his grenade launching palm. Explosive? They'd never witnessed anything like it. Edited by Masa, Mar 2 2017, 07:10 PM.

It was tense at first because despite all the talking they both knew they couldn't rush in recklessly. Larkin held his swords on his right side, the one in his left hand at his hip and the one in his right above his shoulder. It was his favourite way to start a tough fight. It leaves a false opening on his left which allows him to punish those stupid enough to try. This time however his opponent wasn't so stupid, it didn't matter it still had its advantages. Larkin realised that he was having too much time to think, he didn't have time to waste as he didn't know when the New Age Pirates might show up. He was the first to start closing in but Talas decided she wanted to control the tempo and lunge forward with a piercing stab. Larkin was a little surprised at her sudden initiate however was more than ready to retaliate. He swung up with his left parrying her strike out the way. He followed up with a swift downward strike from his right but she proved just a little too nimble to hit. Then he saw the blood drip from the tip of his blade, it was only a drop but it meant he hit even if it was just a scrape. Talas was quick to follow up with a wild flurry of blows, while it was certainly fast it lacked any precision. Larkin managed to come out of the flurry with only a few nicks, mostly to his suit but some hit there mark. 'I have to think of a quick way to end this, if she figures out she's fast than me I'm screwed. Actually more like skewered. NOT THE TIME FOR JOKES. Come on brain. Well she seems easy to provoke so that might come in handy. She's gone for "all or nothing" strikes as well as "I hope this hits" kinda attacks. No what I need to focus on his stopping that speed, she uses two blades like I do but seems less experienced at using them in unison so far. Sooooo if I remove one of her blades it at least makes it harder for her to do follow up attacks.' The rest of the plan slowly formed in his mind as he parried her next onslaught of attacks. "Money can't bring back the dead." He said as he swung hard at her head. He figured he would start as he usually does, drive in the fear then let them tie there own noose. "But with enough you can cheat death." He swung at her head again. "You mean merely DELAY IT." This time she retorted as unleashed another flurry of blows. "If someone wants to kill you, pay them off or pay someone to kill them. If you are ill you, just buy the best medicine or pay for the best doctor. If you body gives out, buy a cyborg one. Money is EVERYTHING in this world." This was his moment to instil as much fear in her as he could. With a evil glint in his eye and his trademark grin he began to calmly and viciously swipe at her vitals. In a scarily placid and mater of fact tone he replied. "There will always be some one you cant pay off and too scary to get someone to kill. Not every illness can be cured and if I was your doctor I would leave you to die. Finally, yes you can always become a cyborg but nothing can preserve a destroyed mind." With that final line he swiped at her head. She blocked it only to have his other sword swing down just catching her cheek as she jumped back. Still no solid hits made by either combatant but Larkin had achieved what he wanted and instilled some fear in Talas. He started work on the next stage of his plan. "Grimm is such a fitting name for you. Don't tell me you're bitter because you couldn't a ford the medicine for your mummy or daddy so know you take it out on other people or some other sad bullshit like that." Larkin could tell that she was trying to set him off so she could end this fight. The tempo had slowed down again which was the perfect time for him to reposition them for the next stage of his plan. They slowly circled an imaginary point on the floor, keeping the distance from each other constant waiting for a opening. He finally got in position, a pillar to his back and Talas in front of him. Astra was getting restless and rather than sitting down was standing and pacing in circles every few minutes, now wasn't the time to worry about Astra though. "Actually they my mum died from something that can't be cured yet and no amount of money could buy her extra time." Talas didn't seem to have a response for that. Larkin started to back off a little, offering Talas the chance to close in on him. The gap between them was slowly decreasing, he just needed one finally thing to trap her. He was only a step or two from the pillar now and Talas took this opportunity to pressure him. She saw this as her chance to corner him and finally finish this fight, with that in mind she unleashed another unrelenting flurry of blows. Larkin played his part and allowed her to force him back, then he got what he wished for in an unexpected way. Multiple gunshots rung through the halls on the other side of a giant wooden divider, he used this chance to show a false opening. Talas took the bait and attempted to plunge her sword into Larkins chest. Instead Larkin moved just out of the way allowing it to sink into the pillar behind him. She tried to pull the sword back but it wouldn't budge and in the moment of panic Larkin returned the favour. His sword pierced he stomach, she let go of both swords, too stunned to continue fighting she dropped to her knees in pain. Larkin moved quick and knocked her out with his other sword. He was too worried about the gunshots to play nice. He removed his sword from Talas and quickly bandaged her up, with another roll of bandage he tied her arms up. While the material wasn't the strongest he compensated by binding her in a way that prevented her from moving her joints. Larkin noticed it could almost pass for a rope corset, all be it more functional than for show. He quickly wondered why that was the thought that popped into his head but snapped back to reality when he realised why he was in a rush. He called Astra over and detached her bags from her saddle, he stopped to scratch behind her ears. "Sorry girl, I didn't mean to make you worry. Thank you." He wrapped his arms around her neck, she let out a low content hum before pulling away and licking his face. "Gonna need a favour from you but i promise you a really nice treat afterwords, I swear." Astra sighed and walked up next to Talas already knowing what the request was. "Thanks girl." He scratched her behind the ear again before carefully putting Talas on Astras back. He quickly went and got his backpack and attached Astra's saddle bags. "Lets go girl." They moved up to the wooden divider quietly and listened carefully to what was happening on the other side. He could hear Phoenix, it seemed it caught a sentence mid way through. "...pirates for one day. I have killed Red Blade, and now you will succumb too. We are cleansing this land of garbage, so lets be having you." 'Sweet he killed Red Blade, one less thing to worry about. Wait did i hear a click? OH SHIT.' He signalled to Astra to back away quickly, he rather not get caught in what was about to happen next. |

The explosive sphere ripped through the wooden pews and shattered the door and wooden wall that it was connected to, revealing the large stone wall the kept the church from toppling inwards on itself. Needless to say, it also wreaked havoc on the pirate intruders, the shrapnel of which blinding a couple, and blasting most of them to the floor, some rolling to try to escape the blast. As an offshoot, the blast also splintered two beams holding the weight of the center section of the roof of the hall together. This weakening of the support beams meant that they now were unable to hold up the bell tower that was built on top of the hall. While the pirates gathered themselves and tried to recover their position, Phoenix and the monks could hear a creaking sound, followed by a series of crunchy snapping noises. Looking up, Phoenix could see the bell tower starting to fall down. "Uhhhh......shit. Hey, you monks! Get out of the church now! The tower is collapsing!" The monks, still terrified at their situation, heeded their protector's order, and moved to the big double door entrance, which led out into the streets from where Phoenix had entered. Meanwhile, Phoenix reacted to the desperate assault of the pirates, who swung their swords and tried to shoot the cyborg down. Noting that he was in a less than safe situation, Phoenix realised that he would need to fight his way through the pirates and move further into the building in order to meet Larkin and Astra again. To this end, the cyborg moved towards the shattered door, punching and blocking multiple attacks. The shots that the pirates made were so hastily aimed that they had no hope of any accuracy, instead shooting the walls on the other side of the room, making ping sounds as they accidentally hit ground candelabras now and then. At about this point, the structural wooden planking had begun to fall to the cobbled stone floor, making echoing clunk noises, before the bell itself began to fall, ringing as it did so, and pulling down with it, the main beam with which it was attached. Needless to say, this made quite the racket, and introduced a lot of dust into the room. Luckily, by the time that this had occurred Phoenix had pushed by the last pirate and had made it into the next room, only to find more pirates, who had stopped their movements to make ense of the strange noises that had come from the main hall. To his right, Phoenix could see the stairs leading up further into the next floor of the church building that was built onto the main hall, although not joined to the bell tower. This meant that the back rooms of the building were structurally unaffected, except for the wall that connected the bottom of the stairs to the main hall, which showed signs of bowing outwards from the blast from the sphere Phoenix had fired. The dusty mix of wood splinters, sawdust and dust collected from the age of the center hall blew into this other room through the other pirates and including past Phoenix. Now that the tower had fallen, Phoenix could now concentrate on dealing with the pirates. There were seven in this new room, and four from the main hall who had not been seriously wounded from the blast. The cyborg took a guarded stance, readying himself for the brawl ahead. The other pirates now moved towards the bounty hunter, some armed with swords still, others with pistols, and a couple with chains and ropes, hoping to maybe leash the invader to their base. One spoke out, almost horrified that Phoenix didn't think anything of catastrophically damaging a church to that degree. "You bastard! Your'e gonna pay for that!" The whole group of pirates then suddenly closed on Phoenix, however because they had, the cyborg simply moved back, ascending the stairs. Now that he had a choke point, he could fight the group fairly. The first was the one who had called out, and was equipped with a sword. He swung it at Phoenix, while trying to climb the stairs, and in reaction, the cyborg timed a perfect parry by punching the blade, and then following up with another punch that hit the pirate square in the face, sending him tumbling down the stairs into the other pirates, who all fell into each other as a consequence. Phoenix was tempted to use another explosive sphere at this point, however he had already damaged the church. He didn't want to damage it any further if he didn't need to. Instead, the bounty hunter moved back down to the base floor, and began picking up pirates from the pile, punching them in the chest, and then throwing them further into the room, to see if they got back up again. He managed to do this to five, including the one who had called him a bastard. Noticing that they didn't get back up, Phoenix withheld from picking the next one up, instead standing back up, his fists, face and poncho now sprayed with blood, and spoke, "Do not cross my path. If you do, you will die, like the others." Finally, the group seemed to become sensible, and began to ran away, screaming as they did so through fear and horror from what they had observed. The way had opened for Phoenix to now ascend the stairs, however, as he did he could hear a click, then a shot. Noting that he had not been hit by anything, it made Phoenix fear for his friends. He was glad that he took the precaution as huge chunks of the divide flew by the the pillar they were hiding behind. The pews looked more like porcupines with the amount of wood splinters they got peppered with. Larkin was just glad that he knew some of the "extra features" Phoenix had gained with his new body. He gave Astra and their captive a twice over to check they weren't caught by the blast or shrapnel. Larkin's head whipped round as he heard the sound of wood creaking and splintering. Two support pillars and chunks missing out of them and were starting to collapse, this didn't seem too bad until he realised the pillars are supporting the building which holds up the bell tower. "Uhhhh......shit. Hey, you monks! Get out of the church now! The tower is collapsing!" Larkin looked through the now extra ventilated church front to see the monks Phoenix was yelling at. They bolted quick as the tower came crashing down close to where they were. The front exit was now blocked for them and the collapse of the tower only seemed to add to the chaos already invoked by Phoenix. As the dust cleared from the crash he started to scout for easy ways out as the way he came would be too risky now. That's when he could hear the chaos move up stairs, Phoenix's heavy metallic feet leading the charge. Here he thought things were going to be easier but it seems that since they've landed things have only gotten from weirder to crazier. Just as that thought finished he noticed smoke was slowly start to build up on the ceiling and trickle out the recently made hole in the building. Larkin turned to find most the candle holders strewn about the place most likely from the explosion and the collapse of the tower, with the added help of the pews and wooden divider covering the floor the church was quickly becoming a pyre. Larkin ran for the collapsed tower judging where best to safely make it over, he found a bit where he could climb up. As he went for it he realised it was no good, for a brief second he forgot about Astra and her cargo. The realisation made his stomach turn a little, but now wasn't the time to think about it. He looked frantically for another way over, the only viable option seemed a steep slopped section that looked like it might still be crumbling. He guide Astra to it and commanded her to go first, she looked like she was going to complain about it but instead relenting complied. Lakrin helped her up by pushing her from behind, he looked back briefly to see the fire creeping along the floor to the supports. He knew he would have to make sure Phoenix got out in time, he was made of metal so was probably fire proof but being buried by a building might not work out so well. Astra was finally over and she bounded down the other side quickly, turning to make sure her master makes it over. As he thought the slop sunk in a bit making him loose his footing a little, he could hear a concerned whine from Astra who was clearly worried. Quickly he clambered back up and made his way down as quickly as he could. Luckily it seems he and Astra had gone unnoticed as it seemed most the pirates was either on the collapse of the building or the stairs for some reason. Then next thing he knew most of them were running out of the stair well screaming in panic, maybe they noticed the fire. A gun shot silenced the chaos if only for a second or two, Larkin's gut tensed in a reflex action as it expect another round to pierce him today. Rather than pain he was left a little surprised as he saw the crowd of pirates part as three people walked through them one with an arm held high and pistol in hand. Once everyone was out of the was Larkin could see them clearly, they were all dressed in suits but rather than a black jacket to match they had long white coats that almost looked like lab coats or what doctors would wear. A tall gentlemen with short spiked hair and dark tinted glasses led the group his hand still held high, a long riffle adorned his back as well as several pistols stowed under his jacket. The short, portly gentlemen to his left was checking his reflection in his axe before grooming his pompadour until he was satisfied with how it looked. The brunet on the left was almost as tall as the man leading but had a more sporting figure, she adjusted her glasses with a gauntleted fist before moving some of her long hair back. "Jin it looks like we missed quite the party, it seems Talas has already failed to stop the newcomers we have heard about" The woman said guiding her colleagues eyes to Larkin and Astra. He had never wished he could be invisble more than in this moment right now. "PHOENIX!!! GET OUT HERE NOW! THE BUILDING IS COMING DOWN!" Larkin knew he wouldn't be able to take them on his own and he need to get Phoenix out of the building before it came crashing down. Two birds with one stone, as long as he could keep them at bay. "That must be the cyborg we heard about, me and Port will take care of him. Saki you get the guy and the dog, do whatever you like with Talas. Remember that he should have a gun shot wound" The man Larkin assumed to be Jin ordered. It disturbed him how much they already knew about them, it also pissed him off that they only saw fit to send one person after him. It was another girl as well, at this rate he was going to get a reputation and not a good one. Before he could think any more Jin took his rifle and nestled it in his shoulder. Larkin went to run but noticed that he wasn't aiming at him but at the floor above, he must of found Phoenix. He wanted to shout something but his words got stuck when he saw Saki closing in, displaying sharp retractable talons. He chucked his back pack through the broken window so it would be easier to find after the building rubble. "Astra wait till I make an opening then dump Talas somewhere and trap her, I may need your help in this fight." Now he had to figure out how to make that actually happen. |

Reaching the top of the stairs, the rugged cyborg scanned the area as quickly as possible, before realising that Larkin and Astra were not there. However, from this floor, he could see that there was glass on the floor from a broken window leading outside. At this point, Phoenix began to realise that there was smoke filling the room, and the crackling of a growing fire began to sound throughout the area. Of course! It was idiotic of him to think that using the explosive spheres would not cause a fire in the building, especially seeing that much of the building, including the struts that had held the tower up were also constructed from wood. However, there was one sense that had not picked upon this occurrence, he could not smell the fire. In fact, he had not really been able to smell much at all since being put into this suit. Maybe that was a design defect, for he did in fact realise that the model was breaking new grounds just in being able to give Phoenix his full body movement and his sight and hearing back. Maybe his sense of smell had been lost through brain damage from his long periods out of consciousness. That it had taken this long for the cyborg to realise this had actually caught him off guard and voices and flashes of light from the fire in the lower room began to trigger hazy and partisan flashback images of the trauma of his fight before his uncle had saved him. " Ph......phoenix?! Oh god........ *FzzzzZ* Ha!.....haha......I have achiev.......m-my....aim!.... *WhirR* Dammit!.... *FzaP* Die......P...Ph.... *FffwwiP* Phoenix.......I'..get.you......out of here!" Phoenix grasped his head, a pain having developed inside his brain, a pain of grief and anger. The outside reminders of his existential doubts and fears had brought him to another crossover point. But, something then occurred that pierced through the cloud of grief. A voice, and one he was looking for, "PHOENIX!!! GET OUT HERE NOW! THE BUILDING IS COMING DOWN!" It was Larkin! Immediately Phoenix came back from his self assessing crisis, and moved to the window, for it had sounded as though the voice had come from outside. Indeed, upon looking, he could see Larkin, with Astra, both outside, with what looked like to be a prisoner of their own, and facing a new group who were adorned in white cloaks. Like Scientists. At this point, Phoenix could also see the group split up, with two coming towards the building while the other, a female, made her way towards Larkin. There was not much time to lose on this one. Under his heavy metal form, he could feel the floor starting to bow, as though it had been weakened structurally by all the chaos and the fire. Noting that his only choices were to stay in the building, which would collapse in on itself, likely severely damaging his suit, or jumping out of the window, Phoenix decided that he would make his entrance in style. Taking a step back, the cyborg fired an explosive sphere to the side of the window, and waited. The explosion ripped through the side of the building, sending a large cone of shrapnel like an enlarged shotgun blast outwards towards the two scientists approaching the building. Being suitably surprised about this explosion from a peculiar part of the building, the two reacted as quickly as their instincts would allow, although the one who had held the gun, the one who had made the shot, had been sprayed with a section of the blast of debris and fell to the ground, although not particularly injured or shaken. Following this blast, Phoenix leapt from the smoking, gaping hole, his had still also smoking. As the metal frame met the ground, there was a very slight tremor, as though someone had dropped a markedly heavy weight. Having thought this was a suitable entrance to the fight, Phoenix immediately saw the scientist who had been hit by the blast get up and move back away from the building, firing his pistol as he did so. Three shots hit the chestplating of the suit, pushing Phoenix back slightly with each impact. Phoenix could feel a slight affect of the bullets slowing him down, as though a liquid was being introduced to the system. Whatever those bullets were, they weren't just plain lead. Making a moments eye contact with Larkin, Phoenix bowed his head slightly, as a way of saying sorry for being late. Sadly words were not a possibility right now, as he still had to deal with the two. Speaking of which, the other scientist had moved behind Phoenix, having not been affected by the blast at all and allowing the cyborg to focus on his partner instead. Knowing that he had now way to go back, Phoenix decided to make the best of the current situation, and charged forward. However, unlike most of his other opponents, there was no sign of fear from the scientist who had shot him, more like a calm, calculated arrogance. "Feisty aren't we? Can you feel yourself become slower, have my slugs begun to take effect yet? In the lab they worked quite.....dramatically." The scientist's eyes glazed over, and a snide grin began to form, taunting the cyborg. So, it was true. They were not normal bullets. The only issue, was there any other effect than slowing him? In reaction, Phoenix threw a punch at the scientist, only to have his fist grabbed and stopped. This was strange. "You call that a punch? Dear me........Phoenix.....You are wearing a suit to make you stronger, not weaker. What would Kansu......" Fury had taken hold of the cyborg, and while the scientist was making his taunts, he had in fact shown too much trust in his invention, and this second punch made its way straight to the scientists gut, winding him. However, the scientist began to laugh, as though this was the beginning of some sick game. Who were these people? So far this had been the oddest of the experiences on the island. It was as if they had stepped into some other place. "You fuckin' FREAKS have no right to talk about Kansuke!!!!" Phoenix could feel the hate flowing through him. Mentioning his family was a triggering buzzword that this scientist had not quite realised the extent of anger and pain would come his way. However, the scientist still laughed, "H...ha..haha...hahahaha. Good, Phoenix, you will need that anger to survive." It was then that Phoenix could feel an impact on the back of his suit. A piece of iron that had stabbed in between two metal spinal connections. The other scientist leaned over his shoulder, laughing as well, "This one hasn't got a good memory, has he? Maybe we'll have to replace and update it with a better model." The sinister tone to the voice disturbed, yet also angered Phoenix even more. However, he felt unable to rotate his back with the blade having been stuck in-between two of the moving parts. A new idea came across Phoenix's mind. He had both of them with him, one holding a knife in his back, the other holding his fist. This solution would hurt, but he had been through much worse. The cyborg initiated the process, and an explosive sphere dropped out of his wrist, exploding after laying on the floor just long enough for the scientists to realise what he was doing, before the explosion ripped into all three of the bodies. The scientist who had been taunting Phoenix screamed as the whole bottom half of his body essentially disintegrated, although such screaming then being drowned out in the explosion. A cloud of blood dispersed among the immediate area, spraying anyone and anything it came across. The only remains of the chest, arms and head of the taunting scientist lying in a pool of blood, with the pistol, now lying on the ground completely ruined like its owner. Meanwhile, Phoenix had been blasted back into the rubble of the church, which had now crumbled and fallen in on itself, with the scientist forming a pillow to the cyborgs stony, flaming fall. The scientist who had stabbed Phoenix in the back was the least affected by the initial blast. However, being a lot heavier than a normal human, the force of impact of Phoenix on the other scientist crushed the body of his would be assassin against a pile of burnt wooden beams lying in front of a small segment of wall that remained standing until their impact. Meanwhile, the cyborg was still conscious, and also still able to move his arms and legs, however the whole of the front armour now had the domed, imploded effect of a radical and immense impact, as you would expect from the explosion. Some chips here and there, and a scuffing of the main facing. What Phoenix did not realise until a moment of moving all his limbs, was that his left leg's mainframe had been warped, and now bent weirdly, and his back still felt unable to rotate. Additionally, he was leaking a bit of fluid, which was the most concerning thing, since that was what allowed him to fire the spheres. He knew that Larkin would have heard and likely seen his condition, and so to help his friend stay calm and concentrated, he spoke aloud, "Two birds, one bomb eh?! What a bargain!" Now, it was up to Larkin to overcome his opponent, while Phoenix's body began whirring and shaking, automatically starting the inbuilt suit repair process, a system requested to be installed by Kansuke as a precaution, considering explosives were how Phoenix came to this condition in the first place. tech's used

Phoenix burst forth from the building, all he needed was flames from the building to burst out around him. It would perfectly match what he had read in so many actual novels. Phoenix saw Larkin and bowed his head slightly, Larkin nod as thanks in reply knowing it was an apology for the delay. Words were too time consuming at this very moment as two of the scientist, Jin and Port, didn't give Phoenix the time catch his breath. Saki in contrast was moving at a rather steady pace, Astra chose that moment to try and run but to no avail. Saki wasn't going to let either of them past her, whether it was to escape or if it was to help Phoenix. "Astra, sorry but your just going to have to stay behind me and look after Talas." Astra didn't like that one bit, choosing rather to dump Talas gently near a wall. Next thing he knew she was bolting out the window, he knew she wouldn't leave him but before he could finish the thought she was back with there bags. She gently dumped the bags on Talas's prone form. "That... works I sup-." His words were cut off as he dodged a metal claw swing for his face. He jumped back and with a knowing nod to Astra started to circle there prey, Astra going counter to Larkin. Saki seemed too calm for his tastes, almost as if fighting them was tedious to her. After a few minutes of either side getting no where, an explosion interrupted there fight as the explosion was close enough to worry both of them. They turned to see Saki's companions a bloody mess on the floor as well as Phoenix hall turned into shrapnel. Larkin was worried at first but he couldn't see any blood pooling under Phoenix then through the silence he could hear the whirring of his repair system. Larkin beamed a grin at his soon to be victim. "Mind finally broke huh? Realised you gonna be next and now you brain cant display the correct emotion. It'll be fun killing you" Larkin started laughing. "You don't know just how screwed you are, he's not dead he's just repairing him self. Once thats done it will be three vs one you dumb fuck, YOUR the one that's screwed. I just have to buy a little time, which will be sooooooo easy, thank good I got put up against someone who can't fight for shit." Larkin started laughing again. He wasn't sure if it was out of anger or panic but his words seemed to have the desired affect, Saki was rushing in trying to now end the fight as quick as possible. Her eagerness to end it made it easier for Larkin to get little hits in, not enough to do anything major but hey even a thousand paper cuts might kill someone. Every now and then she would make a break for the currently immobile Phoenix but Astra would cut her off followed by Larkin pressuring her away. He wasn't making the head way he wanted but at least the fight was in his favour. He thought that at first but he realised he was getting rather tired, more than likely due to the blood he'd lost through out the day. Phoenix was ready to fight again, it would probably be a while longer. Larkin had to make a decisive blow or this was going to end badly. He waited till Saki went to attack Phoenix again, this time however he didnt try and force her away. Instead he got round behind her and quickly plunged his sword through her leg. Through her screaming Larkin didn't notice she was still swinging at him, knocking him flat on his ass as it connected with his head. The sword still tightly in his grip got yanked out making a mess of her right leg and causing her to collapse screaming on the floor. The world was spinning and he could feel warmth on one side fo his face. He tried to stand but found him self flat on the floor again. It took a few tries before the world was still enough for him to stand and move. Saki' was still screaming in pain until Larkin walked over, put his boot on her head to keep her from moving then pushed his sword through her temple. The skull offered some resistance but Larkin was unsteady and put more wait into it then he should of leaving the sound of bones cracking and grinding against steel to punctuate the air. With the battle finally over, Larkin sat next to Phoenix as he slowly whirred back to life. "I'm gonna sit here for a sec while you collect yourself... quite literally I guess." He peered over to see Talas still unconscious. He motion's over to Astra to come over, she gently snuggles in close raping herself as close to Larkin as she can without smothering him. "I think we all earned a little rest, we can sort out the bounty and everything in a bit." He smiled as he stroked Astra between the ears. |

Narrating with this NPC Trotting across the desolate and morbid Cactus on a festively colored steed, Rashimoto Hio searched the first island upon route three. The vivid red and green hues worn by both the man and his steed caused Hio to stand out like a sore thumb to say the least. Sent on this trip by his captain, Fudo Saiken, Hio was tasked with finding and recruiting powerful and uniquely gifted pirates to the Super Rookies side. Fudo was preparing himself and his crew for the new world and knew that there were many competent and imposing figures that could possibly be swayed to his side. Fudo had explained to Hio that Cactus was an island often scurrying with strong individuals whohoped to make passage without much notice by the World Government. Thus far Hio had only come into contact with shameful individuals, ones that not only refused to work with Fudo, but were blasphemous towards the great and holy Santamas. Just the thought of those that he'd chopped down with his festive naginata caused his blood to boil. Currently wearing a holiday themed hooded cloak, the man sneered as his pristinely white horse traveled the muddy brick paths of a lonely path. Cursing the names and faces of those he'd sent to the almighty Santamas Lands. In the distance he'd observe a great explosion, something often attributed to the clash of strong individuals. Maybe even one that was in his bingo book of possible recruits. --- Appearing before a the two seated men, Rashimoto Hio would appear upon his struts steed, approaching the two directly from their front as to not alarm them. "Hello there! Would you two happen to be the cause of these fires and destruction! You've done a great job if so! Oh, you are - Phoenix Isen Bardo correct! Hio flipped through his book and turned the print of Phoenix on a solitary page to the pair and smiled. Pointing at the Image of Phoenix quite proudly. Oh, excuse my manners, I am Rashimoto Hio, an advocate for Fudo Saiken, the captain of the Beast Blood Pirates! I've been tasked with scouting Route 3 and the greater islands of Paradise for individuals that could be assets to my captain and his cause." Flipping through the bingo book Hio would flip to the first page, revealing a photo of Fudo and his most recent bounty of 285,000,000. The Beast Blood Pirates are gathering power for their eventual passing over into the New World, this would be once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone, I assure you of that. This opportunity offers safe passage to and from my captain, consider it a try out of sorts. Hio would look over to the other man seated beside Phoenix. He'd flip through his booklet and not find even a passing image of the man in his booklet. This invitation is only for those listed in the book however, so it wouldn't apply to your friend and their pet. At least not at this time. These offers are for meetings with the Beast King, Fudo, to determine your potential position. So, Phoenix do you accept this offer? Hio grinned kindly at the cyborg as he repaired himself. |

Phoenix watched the combat between Larkin, Astra and the final remaining scientist as his suit continued its repair sequence. It was strange to feel the body convulsing and shaking as metal armatures spawned from the damaged areas of the suit, and began to bend Phoenix's legs back into shape, and then resealing the surface of the armor, to the point that there was only a small curvature dent left of the surface, like a car has once the dent has been beaten back out. However, as the cyborg observed the combat, he could tell already that the scientist seemed affected by the loss of their companions, and as Larkin seemed to say something, he noticed the scientist change their attack plan, instead becoming a lot more direct and aggressive than before. It smacked of desperation and retaliation. Additionally, every now and then, the claw wielding foe would make a break for Phoenix, only to be pushed back to Larkin by Astra. Thank god she had not been affected by any of the craziness that had been ongoing almost since the three had landed here. Then it dawned on him. How come no one had come to reinforce them? Were they the last of their group? If so, there were not many around, and it was surprising that these scientists would command such fear among the pirates. Then again, maybe those slugs that had been shot into Phoenix would be much more effective on normal folk, like Larkin. Speaking of which, the remains of the shells of the bullets had now been removed, along with the fluid that had tried to burn into the face of Phoenix's chest-plate. By now, the suit had finished up the structural reformation, and the mini-armatures then opened up to reveal a set of buffing/polishing from the interior of each arm, and start cleaning up the surface of Phoenix's suit. It was indeed a wonder to behold to the cyborg, who was witnessing this for the first time, since he had not required to repair the suit before. It was also comforting to know that Kansuke and Larkin had thought of this eventuality beforehand. In anycase, the fight had now progressed to the point of its inevitability, that of Larkin and Astra gaining the upperhand, and landing a solid strike to the leg of said opponent, who let out a howl in pain, stuck to the point of ground. Of course, once his prey had fallen, it did not take long for Larkin and Astra to finish off the job, and soon they were silenced, with a crunch sound that reminded Phoenix of the grinding of metal on bone. 3 -0. Not bad, worth celebrating. "It wasn't even close! Makes you wonder why they were so feared on the island." Now finished with their own battle, Larkin and Astra came over to the resting cyborg, and sat down against the pile of rubble. Larkin seemed to notice the blood from the crushed scientist splattered around, and so sat just far away enough to not be stained by the blood. Astra also stayed with Larkin, although her gaze turned to where Phoenix was looking, and started to sniff. Through the thick haze of smoke and fire on the horizon, Phoenix could make out a shimmering, flickering figure pass through a whisp of the smoking debris. It was a man riding a horse, wearing what could only be considered as a christmas style outfit, with a green and red coat. An interesting style, of course, however also potentially tasteless in the cyborg's view. Astra didn't seem to know what to make of the new approaching figure, seemingly sensing that they were not necessarily hostile, otherwise they might have attacked with more surprise, or approached from a less obvious point of view. The group let the figure meet them, and then listened to their greeting, with much interest on Phoenix's part. First, he congratulated them on being the cause of the local destruction, which indeed seemed an odd greeting. And then even more curiously, the stranger then deciphered Phoenix's identity, right in front of them, and then showed a portrait of Phoenix in his own bingo book. The image depicted Phoenix before the Bardo Incident, so he looked a lot younger than he did now, yet still looked recognisable in comparison to the drawing. "Well met! I never realised that I was considered worth mentioning in a bingo book. Please don't hold too high an expectation on account of that book. Your name?" The stranger then revealed his identity, however his name didn't mean much to Phoenix, yet the person that Rashimoto revealed he was working for made his eyes widen. Fudo. Word had reached Kansuke and Phoenix during his recovery that Masa had been captured and executed by the man known as Fudo Saiken, while attempting to protect a mob boss from an assault. This was a chance to meet the man who killed his brother, and discern the full truth of what happened to him. Most of this information seemed to go over Larkin's head, although he did see the reaction in Phoenix's eyes. Rashimoto then made a pitch to Phoenix about meeting this Fudo, with the chance of working for him in the New World. This also added further curiosity to Phoenix, since he had not been able to reach the New World before, which supposedly held the secrets of the "Way of the Phoenix Fist". This opportunity came over to Phoenix as Kansuke's parting gift, as though his uncle knew this event would happen. It made the cyborg feel emotionally conflicted; sad, happy, angry, worried, interested......it was an opportunity that he knew he would have to take. However, the invitation sadly did not apply to Larkin and Astra. That also ripped at Phoenix, since he was just starting to form a meaningful bond with his two companions. Phoenix took a moment to filter out all his thoughts, and then turned to Larkin. "Larkin, I'm going to have to take him up on his offer. I have business with Fudo that I must see to, and this opportunity is necessary for me to answer many of my own questions and goals." Having given Larkin time to process this new situation, Phoenix then tried to explain a bit further. "Should you need me, you'll know my coordinates through the suit tracker you were given. I remember you said you also have things that involve your prior tutor that you have to sort out with haste, and since that journey will take you away from this destination with Fudo, I will have to let both of you go. Remember though, this is not an end to our adventure, it is but a temporary split in the path." With that, Phoenix stood up, his suit now completely renewed, but for a few minute surface scratches and dents. "Thank you for helping me recover, I shall never forget it. As for Kansuke's ashes, well they've arrived on Cactus Island, so that much must have to remain good enough for him. I know he'd understand. Rashimoto, please lead on." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
