Position: Captain
Physical Appearance
Height: 195 cm. Weight: 104 kg. Hair: Blond, usually cut short to ear length and gelled back to keep out of his eyes. Eyes: Blue. Clothing/Accessories: James wears fairly standard clothing for a Marine such as him. Despite being a low ranking member, he often wears darker clothing than the typical snow white unfiorms that are a trademark of the peace-keepers. He often wears black pants with combat boots, held up by a simple black belt. On his upper body he usually wears a black shirt which clings tightly to his chest and a green jacket over. A few accessoreis to go with this rather basic clothing style include his black gloves and his glasses which he sometimes wears since the man is a tad nearsighted. General Appearance: James has the kind of body that both men and women want. Tall, blond, and muscular, James has always been an advocate of physical fitness since a young age, and his impressive body reflects this. In part thanks to good genetics and in part thanks to hard-ass work, James's sports a thick Mesomorph body frame. The man has a wide back, chest, and shoulders, a narrow waist, and thick legs. Still, a number of scars litter his body as well from his time in boot camp with the marines, most are quite small and negligible, but a few such as a large crescent moon shaped one on his right shoulder are more prominent. His ears are also slightly small, although his rather angular facial features make it somewhat hard to tell. His eyebrows are blond his teeth somewhat pointy for some reason.
Personality
James is a confident young man with a good head on his shoulders, or, at least, that's what he'd been told his entire life. In many respects though, the above statement is somewhat true. James has always been a hard worker since he was a boy, believing that if one is worried about something, then one should simply work at the topic causing them grief until they are confident enough to be at rest. He never leaves a job half-finished, and detests having to give up on things. He is the type of person who prefers living according to a schedule rather than having to make things up as he goes along, planning strategies out carefully and ahead of time to make executing them all that much easier.
As a leader and as a marine, James holds his comrades or 'nakama' closely to his chest- yet, not too close so as to know all of his inner workings. He believes that friends and allies should be kept close, but that there are a number of things that only he should know. 'Loose lips sink ships' after all. Thus, James is a man often prone to secrecy, sometimes not willing to tell one of his allies a plan in its entirety and only telling them what they need to know. While most of the time this 'selective speaking' has the best intentions behind it, there are some things which James simply seeks to hide altogether from people, such as his notions of Justice.
As a man who often worked on the sidelines for his first few years with the marines, James often got a good view of what his comrades and allies got up to, both from the rumors he heard and from the things he saw while cleaning the ships as janitor. Seeing corruption and skewed ideas of Justice in the marines made James sick, and indeed it still does, yet for the sake of his ultimate goal, the man puts on a mask of indifference when confronted by the underbelly and dark side of the world government or of the marines. With the intention of reforming the marines from the inside out, James oftentiems pretends to be a despicable and ruthless individual purely for the sake of saving face, hoping that by doing so, his position in the marines will rapidly rise upwards.
The eldest Rackham body is not all buisness though. When not on duty or while resting, he enjoys a good drink and is most at rest sitting in a pub or bar with a flask of whisky with friends. There are some who might be so bold as to call him an alcoholic, but the man would instead simply call himself an 'alcoholic enthusisast'. He is a voracious reader, often reading a book whenever resting, even while out in the field. He is prone to taking naps, even in normally uncomfortable and strange places such as on a pointy rock. Additionally, he has a bottomless pit for a stomach, often eating thousands of calories each day to keep up with his vigorous training.
James isn't all just sunshine and rainbows though. A few darker sides to the man would be that very secrecy which he relies on so much, as it can at times alienate him from those he calls 'friend'. He can sometimes take on more than he can handle, whether simply due to the fact that he likes working alone, or due tot he fact that he doesnt want to worry his allies. When in battle, he is prone to lose his temper, causing his form and his performance to drop sharply, although outside of battle he is fairly level headed. For the most part though, James is a reasonable and confident young man who embraces the forgotten ideal of 'Lazy Justice'.

History
Hometown: Greensland, South Blue
James Rackham is the oldest of the Rackham siblings, brothers with a single sister who grew up in the simple streets of Greensland Hollow under the supervision of Jonathan and Jessica Rackham, traders who wokred on behalf of the various farms of the large, green, island. Often looked up to as the leader of the Rackham children, James found himself often being forced to be the most mature of the lot of them, acting as a voice of reason and as a responsible young man on behalf of his brothers- especially Jayden and Jack. For the most part though, life on Greensland was fairly boring and uneventful. James got top marks in school, had a powerful work ethic, and a strong moral compass- he was simply an all around 'good kid' growing up. Thus it came as no surprise that when he graduated and turned 19, he left home to join the Marines in hopes of helping people. It was a simple, naive, and futile dream, but it was his own dream- and for James, that was enough.
The man had quite the rude awakening though to the reality of the corruption and abrasiveness of the marines though when he was tasked to work as a janitor on a number of ships, watching from the sidelines as his fellow marines went off to find glory. At first, James was quite jealous of the opportunities his comrades had, but upon seeing how cruel and corrupt many marines seemed to be, with skewed ideals about 'Justice', the man felt uncertain about the path he had chosen. He had never killed a man before, nor fought a pirate, and often times wished for a simpler existence. With his free time as a janitor, James did something many of his colleagues didn't: read. When not working, James would ruthlessly educate himself, often reading multiple books over the course of a week. Slowly, this heightened knowledge began to seep through, and James sbegan to carefully move upwards as far as the rank of 'First Class Seaman'. It was during this transitionary phase that James stumbled on the histories and works of the famous marines of old, in particular, finding solace in the deeds and tales of the former Admiral 'Kuzan' and his creed of 'Lazy Justice'.
James decided secretly to abandon the principle of 'Absolute Justice', instead intending to seek his own path and ideas about Justice in general- but using 'Lazy Justice' as a starting point. Before the man could continue his pursuits and climb furhter up the ranks of the Marines, a horrible tragedy happened, pirates raided Greensland.
The man managed to work his way aboard the ship heading to the island, but by the time he arrived, it was too late. Greensland Hollow had been ravaged by raiders, and the mysterious red ship that had done the deed was now long gone. His younger brother Jack had lost his eye, Jayden and Juliet had fled, and JeanPaul was nowhere to be found. Jack reported to the marine though that it was indeed the second eldest brother, JeanPaul Rackham, who had led the pirate raiders to desolate Greensland. Confused, enraged, and betrayed, James swore to one day find JeanPaul and make him answer for his crimes, no matter the cost. He would use this tragedy to fuel him into the greatest marine of his generation and reform the organization from the inside out, or die trying.
After the incident, James was given a few months off to mourn and recuperate before returning to duty. It was during this time that the man took up the use of a Lance in combat, developing the roots for what would eventually become his main style of fighting. He worked under the tutelage of a retired bounty hunter known as 'Django', who taught him everything one needed to know about the world and its workings. With this knowledge, James returned to the marines to continue his quest, now with an inner fire that could never be quenched- he would fly higher and higher, either until the sun melted his wings, or until he had flown beyond it.
Quote:
Combat: James uses a very distinct type of combat revolving around the use of Lances. His style is one characterized by powerful, swift, strikes and constant movement around the battlefield to use a mix of mobility, strategy, and overwhelming might to defeat his enemies. In general, the best way to counter such a fighting style would be to, naturally, weather the storm until the one doing all the fanciful footwork is worn down and tired.
