Profession: ~Marksman The profession of Marksman provides sound experience and insight in calculating range, distance and wind elements and their impact on the path of a projectile. It is a general trait that applies to guns, slingshots, cannons, rifles and the like. People without this profession will have little to no luck in firing cannonballs where they are supposed to go under normal battle conditions. Characters with this profession have access to certain additional traits and their range techniques will have the effect costs of the tier below with short range being free. ~Inventor An Inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. They have good insight in how blueprints work, and can upgrade weapons, build gadgets and battle engines if they have enough materials. ~Scholar One who has dedicated themselves to studying all there is about subjects of "higher knowledge," and has usually acquired this knowledge through long hours of schooling or simply by reading a whole lot of books. They are book smart and will often spend long hours at night enriching their knowledge, though this does not necessarily mean that they possess any practical experience on the subject. ~Doctor A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew. Position: Crew's Know It All Physical Appearance Height: 5’2’’ Weight: 106 lbs Hair: Jija’s hair is pure white due to her albinism. It is grown long and falls to the middle of her back. She has a dishevelled fringe and ties long strands into loose braids at the front, the back is allowed to rest naturally. Eyes: Soft grey iris, sharp pupil. Clothing/Accessories: Jija prefers the colours of her uniforms to be composed of white, black and a spectrum of blues. She always wears a JetJet bird totem necklace. Her standard uniform is a large beret, a long sleeved corset and skirt with stockings and slip-ons. The beret is white and top heavy with a pointed rim at the front. A blue band is wrapped around the base with a carved wooden JetJet totem tied onto it. The corset is composed of two parts stitched together. The lower portion is a tighter leathery white corset tied at the front with thread. The upper portion is a softer dark navy blue fabric, with long sleeves and a high collar that reaches up to her mouth. Her skirt has two layers, the under layer is white cotton with the upper layer a light blue silk. The skirt reaches down to her knees. The stockings are white cotton and are pulled up to her knee. The slip-ons are a flexible black canvas with a thick rubber sole. When on duty, Jija will wear her custom designed white justice coat. It is a size larger like most with justice inscribed on the back. The key difference is Jija’s jacket has four sleeves; two to the rear are larger and meant to hang freely, whilst two others to the front are narrower and tailored for her arms to be worn properly. General Appearance: Jija is a short albino JetJet girl. She has a pale complexion, with white hair and grey eyes. She has a healthy slim physique though her delicate posture can cause her to appear fragile. Her movements are thought out and precise. Jija is very conscious of her external appearance and will always try to appear composed and intelligent. Her facial features are soft with a rounded jaw and dimpled chin. She has thin eye brows with thicker white lashes above her eyes. Her gaze interchanges between passive and intuitive, always on the wander as she seeks out information and detail. She has a small thin tipped nose. She has pale narrow lips. Jija wears natural makeup to keep up appearances but refuses to apply anything more than that. Her default expression is a false smile. Jija smells of cinnamon and bird seeds. Picture The Character Personality: Jija is an encyclopaedia of knowledge and a self-professed know-it-all. Her love of books along with exceptional ability to memorise and recall everything she reads allows her to give informed input on most subjects and matters. Even when not asked. Jija has a habit of sharing her wealth of facts and information no matter the situation, not to show off but rather to encourage a healthy intellectual environment. She is at her happiest when being asked to share her knowledge by her peers. Despite considerable book smarts, Jija is not narrow-minded in believing her document reading trumps actual experience in topics. She is very curious and open to new ideas, eager to absorb what is on offer into her considerable memory banks. She does not take everything she hears at face value. Hers is a very analytical mind which will source and compare things, pay attention to key details and rank information accordingly. Jija is not immune to her own biases in subject matters she is more privy in and uncomfortable in admitting she is wrong on those areas. Her intellectual outlook has always been nurtured by her tutors to the point where her own self opinion had been elevated to impossible heights. Jija has a casual belief that she is the true genius of her generation, possessing raw brain power far beyond that of her peers. She does not loudly boast this claim to everyone who will listen but does on occasion slip it into conversation. This thought process is the key contributor to her unwillingness to openly admit faults, instead quietly accepting them and learning to be right in the future. For all her smarts, Jija has little empathy with others. She does know how to ‘act natural’ and sometimes struggles to respond appropriately to situations as society would expect. Rather than remove this problem by becoming a library recluse, the Jetjet girl attempts to face the issue head on and has slowly gotten better at predicting how best to respond to day to day scenarios. She does this by relying heavily on fantasy novels and autobiographies, taking scenarios encountered by heroes and heroines in those books and applying it to reality. An interest in psychology has also aided her approach. Jija finds success in society by being well mannered and polite to everyone who deserves it. She has practiced and memorised the expected norms of many cultures to avoid offending people. She smiles often, uses endearing terms often and uses a level of language suitable for the person she is conversing with to avoid seeming snobby or uncouth. Any mean spirited or outright rude comments are kept under wraps to keep things going smoothly. Even when encountering someone being outright hostile towards her, Jija will do her best to ignore it. To aid her in approaching others, Jija has developed a series of farmyard categories to place people she meets into. Once someone is categorised, Jija is more comfortable when interacting with them, able to refer to mental ‘cheatsheets’ on how best to respond to the type of person they are. Sometimes this system can be disastrous if Jija incorrectly assigns someone to the wrong category, especially if a Pig is misidentified. These titles also contribute to matters of justice for the Jetjet and how harshly she will distribute punishment. Jija possesses a strong sense of justice, inspired by law and crime novels and eventually realised by joining the Marines. She has a firm handle on written law and strict when reprimanding those breaking them. However Jija does not refer only to written law. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and believes her status as a genius grants her the right to judge and condemn others. When encountering a villainous Pig, Jija is quick to elect herself judge, jury and executioner to put an end to their foul influences. Equally if she believes a criminal is merely a sheep led astray, she is far more willing to forgive. The Jetjet is especially wary of smart criminals. As her authority in the Marine ranks grow, Jija devotes more of her time tracking those she considers to be intelligent psychopaths. Though her given reasons for doing so are to protect those less capable from falling into well thought out traps, the real reason to test her wits against them and affirm her genius status. Jija does not pursue mundane pirates unless ordered to, and even then with only minimal effort. She prefers to leave them to her more boneheaded Marine peers and only get actively involved when a great injustice has occurred. Jija’s hobbies include library reading binges, tinkering with mechanical devices and bug collecting. She is fascinated with all forms of creepy crawlies and devotes whole rooms to storing them on her ship. She uses insects as inspiration for many of her inventions. Her favourite foods are jelly and cinnamon rolls. Jija prefers the Spring season and does not like the cold. Hometown: Javalava Island, New World History: JetJet/Javalava Background Jija was born an albino into the Juju clan of the lower tree branches and spent a childhood always looking up at the higher reaches of Jetjet society. Her family were traditionally foragers tasked with gathering fruit and nuts from the jungle floor, a destiny her parents were surprisingly not too bothered about pushing her towards. They allowed little Jija to spread her wings and fly free without much concern, so long as she did not get into too much trouble. The only thing drilled into her was the Jetjet tradition of archery, an art she took to naturally as did most Jetjet girls her age. She spent most of her time wandering and talking to other Jetjets from different clans, and when she had completed her tour of the other villagers, her attention turned to the distant town of Jelloville. Jelloville was a cultural shock to a young inquisitive Jija. Armed with her bow and given permission to take the bridges down to the nearby civilisation, she could be found regularly drifting from her own village to Jelloville. Each visit bestowed her with more wonderment, the subtle yet huge differences in lifestyle opening Jija’s eyes. The docks were her favourite place for ships from far away regularly dropped anchor there and delivered many strange, wonderful things to the island. It was an enlightening time in her life but not the most enlightening. That arrived when she was seven years old. A storm hit the island which prevented Jija’s roaming, and when the bad weather finally cleared, something new had appeared on the coastline. On her usual route to Jelloville, Jija noticed the large ark moored on the beaches and set out towards it with her usual curiosity. She discovered a half starved crew who pleaded for her said, the Jetjet quick to act as the heroine and retrieve them food from the jungle. As they ate, the crew of the ark explained to their young saviour that they were part of a research team exploring the New World. When the young girl showed interest, they welcomed her to the inner sanctum of the ark; the library. Jija knew how to read, her mother had taught her and those lessons had been refined in Jelloville. Yet she had never had much to read. The sight of walls upon walls filled with books awakened something in the Jetjet. Her routine changed. Instead of visiting Jelloville daily, her route took her to the beached research ark. The delicate nature of the researchers work meant the recovery mission of the ark would take several months and in that time Jija took full advantage of the library. At first she did not really understand much of the contents of the research papers she was devouring. Yet slowly she learned and absorbed the knowledge, started to understand the intricacies of it all. By the time the research ark was returned to the water, the Jetjet had been granted the honorary title of Junior Researcher by the crew. To her delight the repairing of the ark did not mean the end of her library visits. Appreciative of the islands aid, the researchers set up base in Jelloville as a central point of their research. So continued Jija’s studies for another five years. Her literature branched out to fiction and novels, autobiographies of famous people and newspapers from across the seas. So long as their daughter returned to the nest at the end of every day, her parents did not mind too much though had quiet reservations about their daughter becoming a recluse in Jetjet society. In the end their concerns did not matter too much, Jija did not want to stay on Javalava. Inspired by the stories she had read in her books and the tales fed to her by the researchers, the twelve year old had realised she wanted to explore the seas. She already felt like she did not belong in her home village. She had abandoned the bow of her people for a trusty slingshot she could tinker with and improve. It was lighter to carry and easier to use, her Jetjet precision meant it was just as dangerous too. Her favourite topics were engineering and bugs instead of archery and birds. When she mixed with Jetjet girls her age, Jija always ended up separated from the group. It was not her pale looks, it was her tastes. She had moved beyond Jetjet culture. Much nagging and pleading eventually won her parents over to the idea. However there was a caveat. Jija still needed supervision and her new pet canary Jellal was not going to cut in. At first the Jetjet turned to the researchers to take her with them but they were unwilling to take her out into the dangerous seas of the New World. With her primary choice denied, Jija was stuck on Javalava Island until opportunity presented itself in the form of a Marine academy. At the time she was highly critical of the World Government, her attitude influenced by the corrupt stereotypes of government officials found in the crime fiction she read. But she was also a firm believer in justice and the recruitment poster offered the opportunity to explore the seas. In a pinch, Jija enrolled and was shipped off to the nearest Marine base as a new recruit. Marine academy was a breeze. Other young recruits struggled on written test which she aced with ease. Her Jetjet upbringing meant she was competent for physical exercise and excelled in marksmanship. By the age of 14 she graduated before many of her peers, and was deployed to the Grand Line for experience. It was desk work to start off with. No one wanted to deploy a child despite her competence. Yet Jija was adept, even enjoyed the work. She was able to raid archives of information on pirates, local enforcement and other statistics of islands. And in her down time, she was free to study other areas. By 15 she started to help out in the medical wings of the bases she was deployed to, able to absorb the knowledge from medical journals quickly. She was not squeamish; some of the soldiers came back in a terrible state but Jija did her best to help out where she could. On her 16th birthday, she earned her jacket and the rank of Ensign. Most importantly, she earned the right to go out into the field. Assigned to Division 56 under Commodore Santorias, Jija finally got a taste of sailing the seas. Her first clash with pirates came ten days later on the seas, the first of many ship battles on the Grand Line. Through the strength and leadership of the Commodore, they triumphed against the odds, a pattern that repeated itself during her time as part of Division 56. That was until they encountered the Infernal Skull Pirates. She had laughed at the name of the crew when she heard it. The Captain a bizarre bald headed man who would go into battle with a burning skullcap. Yet his madness did not make him a fool. Jija realised the trap the division were being lured towards in the old town of Toperino Island yet the bravado of Commodore Santorias ignored her warnings. It was to be his undoing. Surrounded and ambushed, the front guard of the division were slaughtered, Marcus ‘The Infenal Skull’ Sketa personally cleaved the Commodore’s skull in two. She made sure to repay him the favour in kind; taking both his eyes with precise shots from her slingshot as she rallied the remnants of the Division. Yet as she stood over the pirate captain, his head still burning, the man continued to laugh wildly. It was then she realised her folly and heard the distant explosions. He was merely the distraction. The true target was the new town and the bombs had been successfully planted. In disgust and anger, she executed him on the spot. On that day she witnessed the true face of evil; an intelligent psychopath. The promotion that followed did not numb the loss. Division 56 was broken up into fragments, Jija reassigned under the command of elderly Commodore Zil of Division 21. A man less able to lead from the front, Zil realised Jija’s potential and allowed her greater autonomy in his division. She flourished under the freedom given to her and spent much of her spare time compiling information from Marine reports. Her goal ultimately to identify the most dangerous criminals on the seas not by their bounty but by their actions. When reports indicated they were nearby to her base of operations, she would track them and personally ensure their capture. Unfortunately her restricted mandate meant she could not pursue her chosen targets too far. Yet time would eventually resolve this problem. For her work in the field, Jija was due a promotion and it just so happened that Commodore Zil was looking to cash in on his retirement. As the old man left his post, Jija was promoted to the rank of Commodore. She did not take over Division 21 though, instead elected to form her own Division to operate within the Grand Line. Her first order of business to gather a group of capable recruits… Abilities and Possessions Combat: Jija is a meticulous combatant who excel when given time to plot out a battle plan to follow. The Marine will always look to go into a fight prepared with as much information as possible on her opponent, and where such a dream scenario is not feasible, relies on practiced routines and speed of thought to triumph. Where possible, Jija will look to completely out smart her adversary in a decisive strategy. She is quick to pick up on details and plan around an enemy’s style of combat. Jija is predominantly a ranged fighter, relying on a combination of her slingshot marksmanship and bug themed inventions to barrage and incapacitate an opponent at a distance. Her growing arsenal of inventions and gadgets grant the Jetjet lots of utility and flexibility in a fight. Jija is also a user of haki, able to exert her will on others through her Conqueror King Haki. She is capable of using the other colours of haki to further enhance her fighting style. Weaponry: Zebulun; A five and half foot long shepherds crook made out of seastone. The upper shaft of the weapon has grooves cut into it to make gripping it easier for the holder. The round hook of the crook has five flexible rings attached on the inside. Elastic strips are tied to each of these and attached to a round pocket which holds the projectile. The weapon operates primarily as a slingshot. There is space for ten pellets to be stored in the upper shaft of the weapon, which can be popped up into the pocket of the slingshot by the press of a switch just below the hook.
