An Inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. Inventors gain the ability to create explosives and gadgets that they may use in battle.

~Weapon Specialist
A much more general fighter-type profession, a Weapon Specialist is someone who has to a large or small degree devoted his/her life to the mastery of a single weapon or weapon type, such as Swords, Axes or Whips. This profession applies generally to melee weapons.

~Martial Artist
A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body.

Clothing/Accessories: Samuel typically wears a white collared shirt loosely with a black vest and necktie with matching slacks. His clothes are somewhat dusty as a result of traveling and not always having an opportunity to get them cleaned and pressed. For the same reason, he doesn't go out of his way to get exceptionally fine or pricey clothing either except for special occasions. He has a belt with some tool pouches for working with his machinery as well as having his trombone strapped to his back when not using it.
General Appearance: As part of the "professional" appearance he tries to give off, he has good posture and doesn't make any unnecessary movements, usually folding his arms. When he relaxes or gets excited, he talks a lot with his hands and adds a flourish to his motions. When faced with an embarrassing situation, he grits his teeth and clenches his fists as he tries not to openly express his frustration.

The Character
Personality: Withers is quite concerned with other people's impressions of him and endeavors to have others see him the way he wants to be seen. The way he wants to be seen is as a cool expert of his chosen field, not letting things bother him and being in total control of his surroundings. He breaks this facade when things don't go as planned, grumbling a bit in visible frustration. He tries very hard to inspire awe in those around him, especially towards his creations. His flare for combat and performance as a whole is an effective mask for his insecurities within of only really being able to measure himself according to those around him.
-As a result of his experience working with the Jacks of All Trades, he is a bit more relaxed than he used to be, exchanging banter with his comrades. He has a great deal of emotional investment in his equipment. He has also adjusted to being completely overshadowed by Minerva O'Malley on a regular basis and thus tries not to compare himself to others quite so much.
Hometown: Seabear Island (North Blue)
History: Samuel Withers was born to a small family on Seabear Island in a rural community. Somewhat sickly as a lad, his legs were very weak, a situation that annoyed him greatly. His significant time spent at home encouraged Samuel to foster a talent for music, favoring the lively tones of brass instruments in particular. By chance, a stanger had been passing through his hometown picking up supplies for a voyage, hefting a large crate of foodstuffs through main street with arms made of iron. The concept of improving the body to make up for natural shortcomings struck a chord with young Withers, deciding at that moment that he would strive to obtain improvements like that for himself one day. A few months later, he was found to have a terrible infection that forced him to remain indoors for yet a few more months afterwards, giving him an opportunity to work out in his mind the specifics of his future goal. He'd show everyone that he wasn't going to be controlled by anything. During his quarantine he developed plans for his proposed "improvements" and gathered scraps of metal and wiring from things in the couple of rooms he had access to.
During this entire process he still wasn't sure how to make the switch from his natural legs to the new ones he had been working on, but destiny made the decision for him as the final stages of the illness suddenly flared up in his own legs from the knees down, forcing them to be amputated. Everyone was shocked by his readiness for the operation and his presentation of his prototype prosthesis. Nobody in town really approved, but kept silent in order not to dash this poor child's dreams. In the end, the operation and Withers' later integration of his new legs were a success, to the amazement of himself and the whole town. This first success and the sudden wave of encouragement was intoxicating and led to large amount of tinkering in the future leading up to when he finally came of age and was able to leave his home to seek his fortune. With his increased mobility, he was able to exercise much more vigorously and improve his overall health dramatically, no longer seeming nearly as frail as he was in his childhood.
Withers continued experimenting in ways to improve his "improvements" and found that such a thing required funding. Much more than simply being a street musician could really afford. At that time, he found that bounty posters often had fairly sizable rewards offered. Deciding to become a bounty hunter meant that he'd have to start fighting dangerous criminals, so Samuel took it upon himself to obtain a weapon with which to do his dirtywork. Obtaining a new weapon that he could learn to wield would be pricey, so he decided to make one instead. After a great deal of work and scrap-finding, he was able to build into his personal trombone the ability to change shape and be used as a weapon! With that modification and a great deal of practice, he was prepared to begin his work. Over a couple years, he was able to get a decent enough payout from his small-time bounty hunting to refine his inventions to a point of being respectable tools. With everything ready to go, he boldly set out to find out how good he really was...


Abilities and Possessions
Combat: Withers' fighting style is meant to showcase his skills to the maximum, relying heavily on his varied creations, whether they are his leg enhancements or his Dual-Mode Trombone. Nearly all of his attacks or maneuvers use these in some way in order to prove their effectiveness. When a fight starts, Withers usually takes a moment to wait and see what he is up against and decide how to fight, often playing music to set the pace.
Weaponry:
~Slide Rascal, Dual-Mode Trombone
Withers' pride and joy, "Rascal" is a titanium trombone that has been engineered and modified to switch between being a traditional instrument and a lethal lance. A negligible amount of sound quality was lost by including several joints and hinges throughout the structure, allowing the curves to straighten out and lock into place while a small handle unfolds within the mouth. A breath dial has been installed so that, when Rascal is in lance form, a trigger on the handle can be pressed for a temporary burst of increased thrust.
-Each of Withers' cyborg legs contain a 4-inch titanium piston which can forcefully extend/retract at will for assisted jumps and additional impact from kicking.

Buff techniques used by these entertainers will have the same maximum effect as if they were affecting a group of targets one crowd tier smaller than the size of the crowd the technique was intended to effect.
~Prop Performance (1 Trait) – An entertainer with this trait has learned how to integrate one of their performing props into their fighting style. They gain the ability to make martial techniques involving one item above rank 14. Additionally, they may perform freeform attacks with this item while performing at no additional expense of action economy.
~Fate of the Strong (1 Trait) - By placing traits in Fated, you lock them until the next time you earn a trait. You may put as many traits as you have into fated. In the meantime, you get a temporary boost of (1 of traits in fated, multiplied by 3) to your strength stat.

Techs don't have power and stats at the same time unless they're a debuffing attack like Rokuogan, it's either/or, so remove the power part from your buff techs.

I'm getting 47 for TP used.

Trait stuff is fine.

I was under the impression that tech power for stat-changes was just a measure of how much they can change a stat. I will change it, nonetheless.

Edit:
Actually doing the math, accounting for branches and such I got 60 points used.
Since the final total points for tech trees are 12, 8, 20, and 20.
Removed power from stat techs.

-paid the 9 million. so how does this relate to the 12million allowed by the trait? Are we saying the 9million would be covered by it or is the enhancement basically costing 21 million?

While I consider 9mil for a breath dial-esque enchancement to be pretty generous, considering breath dials cost 14mil on their own, I guess I can trust Kaji's judgement here. Unless someone else vetoes it.

That said, the 9mil is detracted from your 'cyborg budget', which isn't the same as your actual beli count since it can only be used on cybernetics or things related to it. That means you still have 3mil for that, but you don't need to spend it right away.

Everything else seems to check out.

You have a stray [/table] just before development history.

I am unfortunately inclined to make the leg thruster things 14mil, like breath dials. It would make no sense to make them cheaper, when their function is exactly the same.

okay, so the price being 14 mil + 3 mil each for upgrading two legs means the cyborg budget is used and then 8 mil out of pocket, is that correct?

or does the fact I am upgrading the basic cyborg trait to Advanced eliminate the appendage cost? Changes to application represent an assumption that I am paying the difference between the cost of basic cyborg and advanced in the cyborg budget, resulting in an 8 mil out-of-pocket expense. (14+6-12=8)

I've standardised your beli and come to 45mil.
Each leg made of steel costs 4.5mil, 9mil together
Each breath dial is 14mil, 28mil together.
I've noticed that your trombone upgrade was never actually approved, because you didn't reply after the price was given. But pricing it now, I come to 28mil.
This means you're 8mil short, taking your cyborg beli into account. I'd recommend dropping one of the breath dials for the time being.

Also slide drop is power of 8.

I was unaware that patch scooping involved a beli standardization... this complicates things beyond what I know how to fix. I suppose the fact that my current gains/loss includes the payment for the trombone is irrelevant? Can someone give me a quick step-by-step of how to get this straightened up and approved because I am completely lost now. How did this go from flagged to the gutter so quickly? Very frustrating.

I'd recommend dropping one of the breath dials for the time being.
You have three breath dials, one in each foot and one in your trombone. Why not take one from a foot, and instead have just one breath dial in your legs that can send air to both feet using tubes? Then you'd have enough to pay for your stuff ^^

thanks for the timely response, had to break out a calculator but I have the numbers right now, I think. Included in the Advanced Cyborg trait description that the COMBINED strength of the air compressors is 1 breath dial. 1/2 strength per leg.
So, all costs calculated leaves a remainder of 6 mil in reserve.
