As the robot charged at him, Larry parried one of the claws with blade of his own before leaping back a bit as the second clawed hand came in. The robot cackled as it leapt at the pirate once again. Seemed like whoever programmed the robot kept its combat abilities rather simple. Ducking under the leap, he suddenly stood up as the robot was halfway over him, colliding with the metal legs and sending the owner of them tumbling to the ground. Not wasting any time, the doctor resorted to his own leap, landing on the robot's back as he was trying to get up and jabbing both of his blades into the neck before ripping them sideways to separate the head from the body. Now, he really hoped that the robot had a backup power source in his head, just in case. Otherwise, he just killed their only source of information so far. He was under no illusion that both Write and Valk would be able to survive whatever robots they encountered. He was also under no illusion that there would be anything left of the robots to question after Valk was done with them. And so he hoped that he did not waste his chance. Making sure that the body was not twitching or anything, though he supposed that the robot's body could simply be lying in wait, the waspman sheathed his blades before picking up the robot's head, turning it around to face. Seeing the light in its eyes suggested that the robot was still on. "Oi, anybody in there?" Larry asked, knocking on the metal skull. "You fucking asshole. You just had to go and cut my head off." the head cursed and if it possessed the ability to spit, it definitely would have. Now, the problem was, the pirate was used to interrogating life subjects and there was always something that he could do to get the information from them. He had to idea what he could do to the robot to get it to talk. After all, it could not feel pain nor did it feel fear of anything, including death, nor did it have any loved ones that the doctor could have used. "So, by any chance would you consider telling me where your base is?" the wasp man asked. "Are you really that dumb or are you pretending?" the robot sneered, well, his voice had a sneering quality to it. The gears tumbled Larry's head as he tried to figure out what he could use to bargain. After a few moments of consideration, the pirate thought that he perhaps he had come upon a rather good idea. "You know, if you lead me there, I'm sure that you can obtain a new body. After all, I doubt that you want to remain a useless robot head forever." the doctor kept his voice friendly. He could see that the robot started to say something before he paused, as if considering things. "Fine." was its simple but terse answer. Getting back up to his feet, clown saw both Write and Valk approach. "Yeah, thanks for nothing Valkyrie. No matter." the wasp man said, giving a nod of acknowledge to Write for his information, now made useless by Valk's revelation. "Now, where to?" Larry asked the robot head. "Continue down this tunnel for several hundred feet take a right at the t-intersection." the head replied after a few moments of silence. Nodding in acknowledgement, the pirate set off in the direction that the head indicated. |

As he wheeled nearer to Larry, overhearing something about a bargain for a new robotic body, a crimson glow painted the metal walls behind him as a familiar heat singed the tips of his hair. With a content sigh, he grew out his hair a bit to repair it and smiled over his shoulder at Valkyrie and the twisted forms of metal left in her wake. “You know Nola, I think you could probably quit this whole pirate thing and just be an abstract sculptor. You’d be amazed how much pretentious pricks will pay for horrifying blobs of metal… Might have to tell everyone that you identify sexually as a hiking bear though.” He joked, serious mood from before replaced since she was apparently staying with them. It really was nice to have her stick around, especially when she had decided to stay despite the numerous opportunities she had been given to leave. The comfort of having her around decreased a tad though, as Larry addressed Valkyrie in a way that made Write wince. He wasn’t so foolish as to think that she was in need of having her honor defended by him or any other white knight bullshit, but was more concerned for Larry than anything. Even though she wasn’t the same indiscriminate murder machine that she used to be, and convinced herself on a regular basis that she was, there was no telling how she would react to comments like that. Adversely, part of him actually wanted the wasp man to land in the danger zone, since it would reinforce his comfort in having a relationship with Nola that maybe three people in the world could say they have. In the end, he hedged his bet on the outcome of the exchange, though either extreme had him win and lose. Shaking his head and snapping into focus, another thought crossed his mind as he rolled along the path the robot head dictated. Something about the last bit of the exchange before that that he caught struck him as odd, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on it at first. “Wait a second, that doesn’t really make sense either.” The pirate said sternly, brake of his wheelchair screeching as he skidded to a halt. “Why would a robot, presumably programmed with some purpose in mind, make a bargain like that? This thing isn’t supposed to feel pain or fear or anything of the like, and even if it does have some sort of setting of self-preservation, no piece of hive mind technology would go so far as to repair itself.” “May I?” the inventor asked rhetorically, snatching the head from Larry’s grasp and examining it. “The way I see it, there are two possibilities with this thing- it’s either leading us to some sort of trap, or there’s a reason why it would be so inclined towards preservation.” Despite how seriously he was talking, Write had a content grin on his face as he began to play with the piece of robot, doing his best rendition of ‘alas, poor Yorick’ as he talked. “I’m not really inclined towards that whole ‘observation’ thing, so we can’t be certain, though I suppose with a manufactured life form, you can’t exactly use that to begin with.” He shrugged. Realizing that it would be best to just get to the point, he quickly shook his head to wake him up again and tossed the head back to Larry. “I guess what I’m trying to say is, no matter where this thing is leading us, it’s probably going to be pretty dangerous. It might be best for me to take the lead for now, since I’m the only one here that won’t be screwed if there’s a seastone landmine or something.” He scratched at his temple, talking about his hypothetical as if it was outright mundane. “It’s up to you though, I could just be babbling incoherently right now, or thinking about this too hard” |

Thanks to whatever little light was filtering down here, helped by the fact that there were actual little but faint lights installed near the bottom edge of the hallway spaced at equal intervals, Larry had absolutely no trouble seeing down the hallway just in case something decided to jump out at them prematurely, ignoring whatever byplay was going on between Valk and Write. He only had one thing on his mind and that was finding Elizabeth. Everything else took a backseat in his consciousness, including his own self-preservation, which might explain why he used a specific tone with a someone who was known to have an explosive temper and burn up anyone she did not like at the slightest of provocations. And he had given her a pretty good provocation. But none of that mattered as long as he managed to rescue Elizabeth and then die on his very next breath. So as long as he didn't die, the pirate cared very little about his injuries. The doctor scowled as Write plucked the robot head from his arms without even waiting for permission. "Yes, I am quite aware of that fact and I fully expect it to lead us into some sort of a trap. After all, it was programmed to complete its mission so it would certainly make a deal with us if it meant that it could continue with its mission. So it's probably less of a preservation instinct and more the fact that it could complete its mission of killing us better if it has a body. After all, everyone wants to feel like what they do is useful." the waspman replied, his voice at the end having just a little weight to it than usual, suggesting that he was partly speaking from experience. Catching the robot head, Larry allowed Write to go first. As much as he would have preferred to be the first person to come into the room where Elizabeth was, metaphorical guns blazing, he also realized that dying to something like a seastone landmine here and now would certainly prevent him from completing his mission He watched as the beetle forward a couple of meters before there was a barely audible click as one of the wheels on his wheelchair rode over something embedded into the floor. "Oi, hold up." the pirate called out quickly, hoping that Write would stop. After all, whatever the click was, it was doubtful that it was good. It was about that time that the robot head started cackling quietly suggesting that things were not looking good. Moving towards the wheelchair, the doctor dropped the head into Write's lap before transforming into a wasp and landing on top of the man's head. After all, if there was something in the floor, Write's head was probably the safest place to be. Plus his smaller form would make it easier to dodge whatever would come for them. Notes

Larry didn’t even have to tell Write to stop, given that the click of the explosive’s mechanism was just about what he expected would happen. Really, it was more of a hassle than anything else, eliciting little more than a sigh of annoyance. As it happened, once a crazy fucker throws a miniature sun at a city and you trigger it going supernova mid air and take the damage directly to avoid that city being destroyed, small explosives are a bit less daunting. Patiently, he waited for Larry to do whatever it was that he was doing before he rolled a bit back off of the pressure plate so that he could get a better view of it when it detonated. The most surprising part of the bomb that flew up to eye level before exploding was its speed, which was so fast that he could barely perceive it. Skidding back in his chair from the force of the explosion, he was a bit relieved to see that despite its speed, the actual force wasn’t too bad, though it was a bit sad to see his new armor so scratched up. Worse still was the fact that the shrapnel had messed up his hair too, cutting it in certain places so that entire strips were missing, though his naturally durable flesh was more than capable of handling it. “Hm.” He mumbled, detaching one of his shields and using it as a mirror to guide regrowing his hair correctly. His original plan to use his impact dials to absorb the force of the explosions wasn’t going to work since he couldn’t match the speed of the devices, so he needed to come up with another scheme. Satisfied with his reversed hair cut and confident that he knew what to do next, he replaced the shield and turned his attention to the robot’s head. “You know where all of the mines are, don’t you?” he asked it, though his tone made it more of a statement than a question. “Of course I know where they all are.” It replied, almost sarcastically. "Good, that’s just what I expected.” The pirate smiled, a devilish glint in his eye as he looked down at the head and back down the hall. “It’s not like I’d tell you though, what kind of idio- hey, wait, what are you doing, guy???” It frantically sputtered, Write’s middle and ring finger wedged in the mech’s eyeholes, and his thumb in its ‘mouth.’ “I expected that too, but luckily I had no intention to ask questions in the first place.” He explained, raising the head to eye level as he gazed down the hall. “I’m not going to waste an opportunity to bowl a three hundred in a place like this-” He pushed forward on his wheel with his free hand and his other snapped forward, causing his ‘ball’ to tumbled into the corridor. However, it wasn’t exactly a straight shot, rather it went in at a tight angle, rolling and slamming into the wall and bouncing back and forth off of the opposite one over and over again as it crept forward, setting off explosive after explosive. The pirate chuckled, fairly pleased with his handiwork. “You know, I honestly hadn’t expected that to go as well as it did.” With a playful shrug, he continued to roll down the hallway, sure that robohead would be glad to see him. |

“I’d have to be willing to deal with said pretentious pricks though, and we both know how that would end. Although making abstract art out of a bunch of annoying blowhards does sounds like something to do.” She could see it now, they would make the most interesting statues, especially if she worked out how to not melt enough of them to capture their expressions properly. Yeah, that would be some real live model art, except minus the living part. She also chose to ignore Larry’s complaints about her melting all the other droids; if he hadn’t learned by now how she dealt with problems, he never would and she couldn’t be bothered to clarify. Object lessons would either work, or he’d earn himself a magma bath at some point by not getting out of the firing zone. That and she did still want to find out how long the bug could keep this up before it sunk in that this Elizabeth wanted nothing to do with him. That still promised to be gloriously entertaining and was easily worth dealing with his snappishness, when she could burst his bubble at will with a few words. Besides, he could well get himself killed just fine if he went barging in without the beetle stopping his near suicidal determination; Valkyrie only had time to deal with ONE suicidal idiot, she wasn’t taking on babysitting another. Case in point, why did the beetle think that it was a good idea to go down the hallway first? She would have said something but in this case, even she had to admit that after the whole sun incident, odds were low that anything that someone would put in a tunnel and expect it to still exist afterwards would even remotely affect Write. And as expected, the shrapnel bomb didn’t manage to do more than cut his hair. His solution to finding the rest though, now that was more like someone who didn’t have a masochism fetish going on. “Well that’s certainly the fun way to trigger all the explosives. Actually intelligent too with a flair of sadism. Good job Write.” She added, still keeping a good distance from Write in case of any missed explosives, like say any on the ceiling. She should probably warn about that but Write was thick skulled and did she care if the wasp got blown up? No she did not. Still didn’t stop her from gathering up the shards in a blob of magma, seastone wasn’t exactly common and she could find something to do with those. |

Larry watched from his perch on top of Write's head as the latter proceeded to use the robotic head as a bowling ball to set off most if not all anti-personnel mines inside the hallway. The pirate ducked behind the beetle's head as the shrapnel rebounded and scratched the walls all around then, though failing to do any significant damage to Write himself. In hindsight, the choice to use the man as a shield was a good one. The man certainly said that he would act like a shield but until the doctor witnessed just how effective his perch was at acting as a meat shield. That was certainly something to keep in mind for the future. After all, the waspman was doubtful that he could dodge all that shrapnel and it was not like he could block it. And it was rather likely that whatever awaited the group where they were heading, they would need a nice meat shield and Write was fulfilling that job nicely this far. Hopefully the beetle would be able to withstand whatever these robots might throw at them. Flitting from Write's head, Larry made his way towards the smoking object down the hallway that had to be the robot's head. Turning into this human for as he neared the object, the pirate scooped up the head, hoping that it was still functioning enough to lead them in the right direction. Granted that it was likely that this particular hallway would lead them to their destination, but it was better not to take chances, not when Elizabeth's life depended on it. Turning the head around, the doctor was disappointed to find that there was no long light in the robot's eyes and the entire head appeared to be perforated by the shrapnel. Knocking on the head a couple of times to elicit some kind of response from it and failing to do so, the waspman tossed the head to the ground, rounding on Write. "You know, maybe next time, don't use the guide to set off all the traps." the clown said, his tone cold. If Write was the reason they did not reach Elizabeth in time then he would make sure to carve up the meat shield something good. Unfortunately, they could not stop their quest. Allowing Write to once again take point, Larry followed closely behind, but no more traps were set off, at least none that either of the three could detect. Who knew what the robots cooked up in their time down here. Eventually the group would spot the light at the end of the tunnel and nearing said light, they would spot hundreds upon hundreds of robots of all shapes and sizes just milling around in what appeared to be a large man made cavern of sorts. And in the middle of all this, there sat a robot that appeared to be quite human with a crown on his head, his chair a throne, no doubt the robot king. However, Elizabeth was no one to be seen. The pirate expected there to be a cage of something by the king's side with Elizabeth inside but there was nothing like that here and he was not exactly sure how to proceed now. |

“Larry, please, you don’t get as far in life as I have by stopping and nitpicking every detail of absurd plans you come up with on the fly.” Write rolled his eyes at the wasp man, hand waving his concerns with the robot’s head breaking. “I doubt that heap of junk was actually going to take us somewhere useful anyways, we might as well keep poking around on our own.” He shrugged, before turning his head to address Valk. “You know, not everything is about pain, Nola. I mean, I ignore it most of the time. Intent and who does it is the important little bit of masochism, and it’s not really odd that some scattered landmines don’t exactly help me get my rocks off.” He shrugged, wheeling forwards, still the leading man on the little journey. “So yeah, if I can avoid what is essentially a waste of time, I’d rather just bowl with a neat toy I just found.” “And I do take offense to the whole sadism comment. I’m no sadist.” His voice changed to something a bit harsh as he spoke, though it quickly faded to an odd glee as he continued. “But while we’re on topic, back there would have been a good time for a command. If you’d have told me that I had to personally set off every single one of those minds and endure every blast, or you’d punish me for hours once we got back to the ship… We’ll I’d probably have a dilemma in that case.” He absentmindedly rubbed his cheek, still pushing along in his chair with his other hand, causing him to cut into a sharp turn instead. “In any case, that right there is probably a good sign.” He coughed, pointing at a spot of light illuminating the hallway not far from where they are as he restraightened his chair. “That’s either a den of murderbots, or we’re dead. Win-win.” What lied inside the room itself threw him a bit off guard, not from the size of the room, the amount of robots, their varying sizes and shapes, or really anything of that nature. Rather, it was the figure that sat dead center, presiding over the entirety of the cavern. The pirate couldn’t help but heap over, stuck in a manic fit of laughter as he gazed at the apparent king of the robots, hunched over and barely even able to breathe. “It’s a robot king-” he gasped, struggling to stay upright. “Alright, you’re all robots, right?” the inventor wheezed, trying and failing to hide his amusement. “So you’re the ki- Jashashasha- the king.” the man slapped his knee, unable to keep even false eye contact with the mechanical being. “Alright, I’ll bite. You’re a robot. You have no organic parts. You’re all metal. They- pffft- Jashashashashaaaaa-” he laughed again, unable to keep composure when met with such a preposterous situation. “You- You’re a robot, and they gave you a crown.” He still couldn’t handle what he was seeing. “Okay, you’re a robot, you have an artificial source of intelligence, or, at the worst, you had a human brain transferred into your body. But still, you’re wearing a goddamn fucking crown- Ja-shashahsha.” He continued to laugh, mocking the metal men. Finally regaining his composure, the inventor wiped at the corner of his eyes, though his voice continued to show that he wasn’t taking the situation very seriously. “Alright, you’re robots.” He tittered, pointing out the obvious once again, although he quickly cut himself short as he considered the alternatives. Robots don’t exactly have free will, so democracy was right out, and communism seemed like the best fit for a group like them. Regardless of any of that, having the governing body be a monarchy just didn’t click with the pirate. Do they have smaller robots that are designated as the children of the current robot king that replace him and are given larger bodies when the robot king starts malfunctioning? Maybe it was more a thing of whoever kills the current monarch becomes the new monarch, but that didn’t exactly make sense either. It was around that point that Write realized his short pause was more of a blank stare with the hamster in his head working overtime on its wheel. Snapping back into reality, the pirate finally shrugged, deciding to accept the premise and move on. “My liege,” he lowered his shoulders in a half-bow, Gaucho behind him imitating the gesture. “I’m not sure if you are familiar with the classic progression of a hero’s journey, but I think this is the point in this man’s that he kick someone’s ass and promptly gets the girl.” He plainly stated, pointing a thumb back at Larry, who seemed to be at a loss at the moment. “So, if you could kindly direct us towards an ass for kicking and a girl for getting, that would be greatly appreciated.” Edited by Tengu, Feb 14 2016, 11:38 PM.

The robot king said nothing as he watched Write make a fool of himself, or at least get his wonder out of his system, before rising to his feet and descending the short staircase to the cavern floor, visible cracks appearing beneath his feet. Larry watched the robot king slowly approach the group, stopping right in the middle of the cavern, his red eyes glowing dangerously. It was clear to the pirate that they would not be allowed to leave the chamber without a fight and seeing as how the beetle did not appear to be too eager to step up to the fight, it fell to him to do the deed. Of course there was always Valk, but he still needed to question the robot king as to the whereabouts of Elizabeth and the magma female would probably melt the robot into a pool of slag and asking a pool of slag anything would be nearly impossible. As such, he was the only choice left. The doctor wondered what his chances were in defeating his opponent before deciding that he would still do anything for Elizabeth, including give up his life. What was a wretch's life compared to a beautiful golden flower. Stopping a few dozen feet from the robot king, the wasp man assessed his opponent and situation. Here he was about to fight an opponent that was several feet and several hundred if not thousand pounds heavier than him. At the very least, the king did not appeared to be entirely solid on the outside so perhaps luck would smile down upon him and allow a blade to slip through and maybe damage something important, as long as he was not killed before that. The robot king also appeared to be making an assessment and if the grin on the robotic face anything to go by, he did not think this was gonna be a challenge. Eager to wipe the smirk off the robot king's face, Larry dashed forward, turning into his wasp form as he neared his opponent's body, managing to catch said opponent by enough surprise that nothing stopped the bug from flying inside the robot. It was around this time that the pirate was coming up with a plan on the fly. He did not expect to progress this far but now that he was inside, perhaps he should do as much damage as he could. The next several moments were spent flitting around the inside of the robot king's body as the latter tried to get the wasp out, with no apparent success. Passing by an interesting looking device, the doctor doubled back to get a good look at it. It was an on/off switch. At first, he was not entirely sure if he was seeing it correctly or not but a blinking green light beside the switch suggested that this was a real thing? Well, there was nothing to do but try it out. Putting all his strength against the switch, the waspman flipped it, feeling the robot king starting to slow down moments later before becoming completely immobile. Flying out of the now shut down body, Larry turned back into his human form as the robot king crashed to the floor. Maybe Elizabeth would now appear? After all, he did defeat the enemy king and all. |

As it turned out, robot kings weren’t quite as talkative as disembodied scout robot heads. This was unfortunate, as Write was dying for some answers regarding the dynamics of robot politics. Luckily, the mechanical monarch had at least been compliant enough to offer up its own ass for kicking, though the directions for girl getting were vague at best if they had been included. With a sigh, the pirate shrugged. He really would prefer it is Larry took care of this rival on his own, but that seemed unlikely at best, he had to help out. Pleasantly, he was proved wrong as the bugman charged at the massive foe, causing a cheesy smile to curl the beetle’s face. “Yeah, wooo, go Larry! Fuck’em up!” he cheered, Gaucho mimicking his actions behind him. Internally, he was holding his breath, hoping that the man could handle the situation on his own, but not particularly expecting that to be the case. Again, he was proved wrong, as the massive metal man fell to the ground in mere moments. “Huh.” He stared slack-jawed, though his mouth quickly closed and morphed to a grin. “Alright, looks like you’re doing it the Write way.” He smirked. “Work smarter, not harder, huh? But then again, I’m surprised it wasn’t a self-destruct button… You didn’t hit a self-destruct button in there, did you?” The pirate questioned, rolling towards the downed goliath. Prodding the immobile body and listening close for some sort of tick or countdown sequence in vain, he quickly decided that wasn’t the case, though that brought another issue to mind. “So, now what?” The final boss was doneskies, which meant this was the point in the narrative that some believable conclusion was bound to happen. Either Larry’s lady would show up, or they would learn some lesson about being true to yourself of something cliché of that nature. Instead, there was silence. Silence as it began to sink in that everything that they had already done everything they could have done. Silence as all that was left to see or hear was the truth. |

Now Valkyrie had a bit of a dilemma on her hands. On one hand, everything they were doing right now, in this cave, was pointless to the extreme and for more than the usual reasons that the things they got up to were bloody pointless and served just to annoy her. Really, she’d been humouring her minion’s antics mostly because her meat shield would get all sad and mopey if she ground his self esteem under her heel, although she didn’t understand why, it wasn’t as if Larry had any right to have good things when he was a creepy potential molester who only didn’t try anything with her because he knew the response and wasn’t a masochist like the beetle to get off on that. Wow, thinking on that, she dodged a bullet there, she didn’t think that she could handle two people who wanted to get her steaming mad and setting them on fire, even if setting people on fire was a fun way to pass the time, especially when you could do it over and over again without the whole burning to death thing and she was running over on a tangent and she wasn’t a sadist in the first place why was she enjoying stuff like that? “Fucking Write, corrupting my virtue…..” Because of course it was his fault, who else could it be? And now her mood was sour again but on the good side, Larry was about to get his ass kicked by a giant robot with a crown – and she had to agree with Write here, that was just ridiculous, and she had to hold back giggles at the summary. Of course, there was a disadvantage to having a reasonably competent if creepy person fight what was almost certainly a joke. It wasn’t going to be a fun fight to watch, and case in point, the robot just fell over. “….Is that it? What the fuck, I mean we all knew this robot army thing was a sad, hilarious thing waiting to happen but really? The only way that could be more anticlimactic is if the bug flipped an off switch or something.” Valkyrie groused. “Okay, you know what, fuck it, if this is the big conclusion, I’m getting my kicks and thrills my own way, time to ruin some people’s day!” And no, enjoying what she was about to do didn’t make her a sadist either. “Larry, you sad, deluded wasp, if that bartender wasn’t so utterly terrified of your lunatic ass, you’d have found out from the beginning that Elizabeth wasn’t on this island anymore. She left, to get away from you, because most people don’t appreciate having a murderous stalker who stabs their clients to death because they can’t tell the difference between someone playing nice to get paid and actual attraction. Seriously, I’m one of the worst people to talk about healthy relationships and that shit was obviously unhealthy even to me. I remind you, my most stable relationship is dealing with this masochist and his technically paedophilic but somewhat understandable since I’m the definition of jailbait if he wasn’t more attracted to my midget form feelings towards me.” “Of course, odds are good that you’re going to shove all of this out of your head because if reason worked on you, we wouldn’t be here. But I doubt that you’re deluded enough to deny it for too long, and I’m sure that when reality beats your fantasy, the fallout will be epic and I’ll get some good fun. So! Anything else to waste time with on this island, or are you going to try to pry out of that bartender where your stalking victim ran off too? Oh right, I wasn’t supposed to tell you about him knowing….but fuck it, that guy’s an ass, not protecting his pathetic self.” With that she dropped down on her Write seat, lounging in her mobile chair, perfectly pleased with herself for making someone else's day that much worse. Huh, maybe she did enjoy fucking with others a bit too much, but still, that didn't make her a sadist, just a bit of a bitch. She could live with that, she was a magma bitch, she had fuck you rights to these kind of things. |

Larry was not entirely sure why, but he decided to withhold the presence of the on/off button from both Write and Valk. Maybe it because he wanted to appear strong and not like he won this battle because of a fluke. Granted that it really was a fluke and he doubted that he could have won that fight if it was not for the fact that he was able to exploit a weakness like that. But was he going to explain that to either one of his companions. Plus there was the whole thing with the fact that there were still hundreds of robots all around them, watching their every movement with their beady red eyes. So if it was revealed that their leader was defeated with a cheap trick, they would not be all too happy and would likely attack of them here as well as revive their fallen leader and the doctor was none too eager to battle any more robots, considering that half of his abilities, like the poison or the flesh eating bacteria would be rather useless against this type of metal opponent. So no, keeping the secret was the best course of action. And then Valk unloaded verbally into him. The wasp man listened patiently to her, waiting for her to get to the point. It appeared that she was under the delusion that she knew the truth. "I'm sorry my dear Valky-chan, but you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. There is no way that Elizabeth would leave permanently. You must have misheard to misremembered what my bartending buddy said. Elizabeth must have gone on a holiday to get away from all the destruction, though I am not entirely sure why my buddy would lie to me about them. It clearly can't be because he did not want to worry me cause I would not worry at all if I found out that she went on a holiday but it's becoming clear that she is not down here. So perhaps we should leave these robots to their own devices and find out exactly where Elizabeth had gone to." Larry said lightly before beginning the trek back to the bar, the robots doing nothing but watching the group leave. "So Al, wanna tell me which island Elizabeth had gone to?" the pirate said cheerfully as he entered the bar, brandishing his blade. At the sight, the bartender glared at Valk though there was a hint of fear in his eyes. |

Write sat dumbfounded at the malicious cascade of words that poured from Nola’s mouth. There was no way that this would end well for anyone, and given that Larry already seemed to be teetering on the edge of insanity, it was very possible that the final straw had finally been laid on his berserk button. Of course, an semblance of concern from the beetle quickly dissipated the moment Valk plopped down on his lap. In an instant, his blood boiled and his brain turned to mush. Even if she claimed to not be a sadist, she just pulled off the greatest maneuver the pirate had ever seen, and effortlessly at that. Treating him like nothing more than a chair, magnified by the fact that he couldn’t even feel or control anything below his hip… it was a masochist’s dream come true. The pirate’s gripped tightened onto the rests of his wheelchair as he struggled to not reach out and touch what was right in front of him. “I fucking love you…” he uttered under his breath. It wasn’t until he leaned forward and snuck a whiff of her hair that his hands clenched so tightly and so suddenly that the rifles in the armrests misfired, the sound of their shots bringing him back down to earth just in time to catch Larry hand waving the entire issue. “I, uh, Lar- Ry…” Write spoke in stutters, unsure of how exactly he should approach a man so out of touch with reality. After a few seconds of silence, the man finally gave a swallow and whispered into Nola’s ear, “Good chairs don’t talk.” before wheeling along behind the wasp man, hopeful that she would stay on his lap. The only thing harder than not trying to convince Larry that it was all in folly was not telling the magma teen that, as a chair, he also had a massage function. Valkyrie blinked once, then twice on her chair, wondering just how far Larry’s delusions went. She did know and expect that he would go straight into denial sure, but this was some next level shit. Well then, this was going to be something special to handle but for once it was unlikely to actually be a major pain to herself and the higher the wasp climbed, the more impressive the fall was going to be. Decision made, Valkyrie settled in her throne, doing her best to keep her smile under control. “Sure, sure, I suppose that’s…..technically possible. By all means, at this point I might change my mind with this journey, this might be the most fun I’ve had in ages!” Ah, it was a real challenge not to break down laughing at the deluded creep but she wasn’t going to leave this be anyway, she’d get so much more laughs in later. She was even in a good enough mood to tolerate Write’s creep mode slightly more than usual. Slightly more, which was why the beetle just got hair slapped by molten hair strands instead of her getting up and leaving. Well that and she didn’t feel like walking right now. “Onwards beetle, this is the kind of show that I don’t want to miss.” And since Write was behaving so well, she even deigned to lean back and properly lounge on her chair. Of course that meant that she was leaning on the sides Write would never be quite well behaved enough for Valkyrie to trust him to not try to go molester and get set on fire again. “So, how long do you think it will be until Larry manages to kill someone over this? Well kill someone again that is.” Valkyrie quite obviously had no fucks to give about the bartender or his current issues. If he didn’t want her directing Larry along, he should have thought about not being a dick to the people whose help he needed. |

Seeing no help forthcoming from the angry looking female, not that he could blame her, the bartender could feel a bead of sweat pouring down his brow. He had known Larry for a number of years and yet he could never tell what the man would do, whether kill him on the spot or let him go with a stern word. "Um, she did not say. Just said that she was going a trip, never mentioned where. Figured that she just wanted to travel around at random and used the fact that the island was destroyed as an excuse to finally travel. You know how she was. Always wanting to travel but never having any time with her work and such." Al explained, hoping that the pirate in front of him would buy the shit he was shoveling. Granted that there a kernel or two of truth in what he said. After all, Elizabeth did use the island destruction to leave the island, but she left with her husband, going on their honeymoon now that they both had some free time. But like hell he would tell that. As he listened to the man in front of him, the doctor was nodding along with the words. Elizabeth did indeed always wanted to travel but an opportunity never presented itself. He hoped that he himself would have been able to take her out to see the world, but unfortunately, he had to go on the run and considering that he did not know when he was going to return and the fact that he had never told her that he was planning to do this, he could not exactly blame her for taking the opportunity to complete her dream. Now, the question was, should he wait for her or go find her or what. Now, he was still unwelcome on this island and considering that he did not know how long Elizabeth would be away, he could not exactly wait around here. Nor could he exactly go after her since he had no idea where she went and he doubted that Al would know. So that left only one thing left to do, come back sometime later and hope that Elizabeth would be back. But there was one thing that he had to take care of. A smirk lit up the clown's face, one that put the bartender on edge. Nothing good happened when that smirk appeared. In a flash, the waspman pulled out his dagger before leaping over the bar at Al, sinking the blade to the hilt in the man's chest as both fell to the floor. "Don't lie to me ever again, Al." Larry hissed before getting back up, withdrawing the blade with a squelch, as blood quickly poured out of the wound, pooling underneath the body. "So, where to next?" the pirate asked as he sheathed his blade and made his way back to in front of the bar, completely disregarding the dead bartender. |

Wincing at a whip of magma-hair coming at his face, the pirate quickly put up a minimal amount of haki to block it off somewhat, before wiping it away. Not exactly an unpleasant experience, and neither was being lounged upon completely. What made his heart sink however, was the possibility that Nola joked about, something that he legitimate worried about. At best, he was uneasy as he followed along behind Larry into the bar and listened to the bartender, both relieved and worried regarding the lie the man told. Uneasiness exploded into full-tilt panic as Larry did as the something that Write feared might happen became reality. In the blink of an eye, the pirate grew his hair out over his legs and pushed his way out of his chair, jumping over the bar with disregard for the girl sitting in his lap. Frantically, he grabbed for a wad of bar cloths and did his best to try to stop the bleeding, but he was too late to do any good. Shaking his head at the waste of life in from of him and cursing himself for being so far out of practice in the medical field, he focused in on the cause of all of this- Larry. Well, no, he couldn’t put the blame onto the man that he knew full well was unstable at best. This was Write’s fault, and it was time for him to do what he should have done hours ago. Hopping back over the bar at a brisk pace, he caught up with Larry, anger building within him towards both the bug man and himself. Grabbing onto the clown’s shoulder, he swung him around, cocking back his other arm clenched into a fist, aiming to punch the delusional man square in the face. At least, that’s what he had intended to do. Instead, he lingered. His arm shook a bit, before dropping it to his side with a sigh. Loosening his grip on the man’s shoulder, he patted his shoulder and finally spoke- “Go have a seat, I’ll be right back.” A minute or so later, the armored man returned to Larry with two freshly pulled pints, placing one in front of the other man and sitting in the chair across from him. Dreading what was about to happen, Write hesitated, taking a sip from his drink and sighing. “Larry. I know that this is hard to hear, and I know that you’ve already been told this, but Elizabeth is gone. She’s not gone because she was kidnapped, and she didn’t leave to just travel… And I know that you know that already.” The pirate’s eye trailed over, glancing at Valkyrie. The whole conversation made his gut wrench for some reason. “Listen, I can’t tell you what’s right for you. I can’t tell you what you should do. Just… I don’t know, sometimes you think you have the full picture and you understand something, but that’s not always true. Sometimes, it takes some distance to put everything together.” Rubbing at the side of his head, the pirate sighed “Maybe I could use some distance too, if for just a little while.” |
