As the ship neared Las Arcadas, Larry could not help but feel giddy. After all these years, he was finally coming home after he had to up and leave in the middle of the night for some well justified murder. That Marine should not have groped Elizabeth. But he did and he paid for it with his life. And the pirate was forced to go on the run. But now he was back and that was all that mattered. However, there seemed to be something drastically different about the island compared to how he left it years ago. Specifically, there seemed to be a large amount of destruction and lots of craters as if some large battle took place here. And yet, the doctor had not heard anything about that. Granted that it wasn't like he paid much attention to what was going on around the world but that was a matter for another time. What mattered now was the fact that island was still there and thus Elizabeth would still be at that tavern that they met in all those years ago. Right? Right??? Thanks how it works.

After what felt like forever, the ship finally docked in the Savage South district, the docks looking like they have suffered major damage, just like the rest of the island, and only recently has been rebuild. Stepping off the ship and onto the wood of the dock, the wasp had finally gained an appreciation for just how much damage the island had sustained. Everywhere he looked builds were the process of being rebuilt. Granted that they still looked like shit just like before the destruction since the people living here did not particularly care too much about the aesthetic of their domiciles. Looking back towards the ship, Larry was not entirely sure what Write and Valkyrie would do now since he was the one that wanted to come here and his desire was nothing more than seeing an old flame. Perhaps he was a bit selfish in his request but then again, it wasn't like he was part of their crew and was simply hitching a ride to this particular island. So perhaps he should not feel selfish after all. And with that, he set off towards the tavern where Elizabeth worked, avoiding large craters as he did.

Well, it seemed like at some point between leaving Skypiea and reaching Las Arcadas, a certain motley crew was down one member, tag along, visitor, or whatever you would consider Jean to be in the first place. It wasn’t as if she was anyone favorite person to be around, but it was still a small cause for concern from Write. Despite the fact that she was more than capable of taking care of herself, she was still a child, and was possibly mentally retarded. Regardless, there was little he could do right now, so he pushed that concern to the back of his mind for the time being, which gave him plenty of time to spend with a new set of concerns.

While this place was less of an island and more of a few rickety platforms, it was a bit more of a bother that Marines were currently occupying it. Not that he was worried about being arrested or running into trouble on his own, he could hide in plain sight well enough, and Larry’s tunnel vision about whatever it was he wanted to achieve here made him unlikely to cause trouble, but the other person they were with didn’t like Marine puns and was a living hot-head joke. He didn’t even bother giving her a warning to not cause a scene, leaning on a fickle trust that everything would turn out fine.

Dressed in a suit of armor he picked up before they left Skypiea and with that nation’s holy sword buckled at his hip, the pirate rolled along closely behind Larry, one of the shields normally clasped to the wheels resting in his lap. He was trying to give it a little bit of a shine as they went along wherever they were going, but the walkway being full of craters made it fairly treacherous for proud cripples. After a few minutes, he finally gave up, reattaching the disk and turning to Larry.

So, what exactly is going on here that made you want to come?” He finally yawned, scratching the back of his head.

Larry strolled along in a sort of a daze as he avoided walking and falling into the multitude of craters. Sort of glancing into one, the pirate saw that the holes extended far into the core of the island that was filled with pipes and all sorts of weird things. When he was younger, he had heard rumors and rumors of rumors of what things were down there, the majority of which dealt with robots or something like that. He was not really that interested in stuff like that when he was younger so he did not remember much about it, not that he particularly cared about stuff like that now. What he did care about was getting to the tavern where Elizabeth worked. "Well, I don't know what's going on here but I have been trying to reach here ever since I had to leave, to see Elizabeth once more and hopefully settle down with her." the waspman replied absentmindedly, not really elaborating on who Elizabeth was or why he had to leave.

After what seemed like days, but was in reality was less than hour from the moment he set foot onto the docks, Larry, Write, and Valkyrie, unless she decided to go off on her own to hunt Marines or something like that, finally reached the tavern that the bugman had wanted to reach for the last several years. Seeing the tavern intact, the doctor released a breath that he did not know that he was holding. So far so good. Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, which was rather surprising since he could not remember the last time he was nervous, the Demon Wasp pushed through the doors to enter the tavern, memories flooding back. Shaking his head to clear his head of the memories, Larry made his way towards the bar. As he walked up, the bartender looked at him, his eyes widening and his mouth moving in what appeared to be curse words under his breath, before his face took on a hard edge. "What can I do for you, sir?"

"Come now Al, no need to be so formal, we're friends after all." the pirate said with a cheerful smile. The bartender frowned but kept his mouth shut. "Anyways, I'm here to see Elizabeth. I assume she still has the same room?" the doctor asked, not really waiting for an answer before bounding up the stairs to the second floor and going to the room that Elizabeth usually occupied. Back at the bar, the bartender gritted his teeth and turned his attention to whichever of the duo remained. "I don't know who you are or what your relationship with that man is, but I hope you are prepared to deal with what you have gotten yourself into by dealing with that man." the man said, anger lacing his words as he went back to polishing a glass.

Write considered piping up a question or two about this Elizabeth woman, but after a few seconds, he simply smiled. The details didn’t really matter all that much, all he needed to know was laid out in the way the clown spoke. Given that he spoke and acted so little before they came here, it was refreshing to see the man act so determined and content, to the point that the inventor felt the same airy satisfaction by just being around him.

As many good stories begin, it wasn’t long before they arrived at a bar, Larry’s apparent destination. There was a twinge of tension in the air between him and the man that worked there, but that didn’t prevent the pirate from rushing away and out of sight. Though his curiosity was piqued, Write decided that the other man’s business was his business, and not something that he should impose himself on. Well, that, and the fact that following him would mean he would have to face his greatest rival- stairs.

Smiling and shaking his head, the pirate rolled closer to the actual bar, where the man working it spoke his own foreboding words, quickly making his amused expression morph to one of intrigue. “Oh yeah? Why do you say that?

Just before the man could reply, Write tapped on the counter “Mm, right, hold that thought. I’ll have a White Russian.” The bartender shut his mouth and shrugged, beginning to mix the drink. “And an Irish Coffee.” The inventor added, causing the bartender to turn and grab another bottle and a kettle. “…And a Mind Eraser.” The barman sighed.

Three coffee-cocktails spread out in front of the pirate, he began to alternate between each drink, only returning to the earlier topic when he was satisfied with each of them. “Right, so, what exactly do you reckon we’ve gotten ourselves into with that man?

As the reached Elizabeth's door, Larry could feel his heart hammering away in his throat. Was he ready to do this? Was he ready to ask Elizabeth to settle down with him? The most obvious answer would be yes. He never particularly cared about adventuring and sailing the seas and what not, hell, the only reason he had all those adventures was because he was forced to leave. The pirate would be lying if he said that some of them were not fun, but that's what they were, just passing fun, not something that he would want to do for the rest of his life. But even with all that, why was it that the doctor could not help shake the feeling that he was missing something and perhaps he was making a mistake. However, that feeling was small, almost insignificant, and so the wasp man ignored it, taking a deep breath to steady his nerves as he placed his hand onto the doorknob and twisted it, finding it a just a bit surprising that the door was unlocked, before opening said door and entering the room.

An immaculate room greeted him as he closed the door behind him. A quick glance around did not reveal Elizabeth but maybe she just stepped out for a moment and would be back soon. However, as he looked around the room, there was a nagging sensation in the back of the man's mind that something was not right here. He knew that Elizabeth was a very clean and orderly person, never having anything out of place, but this room looked far too clean and orderly, as if there was no one living here. But that couldn't be right, could it? He was sure that he had the right room, the little divot in the wall in the left corner confirmed that. Could it be that Elizabeth had gone to a different room? But why would she do that? Was it because that Marine was murdered in this very room? Larry could not very well understand that line of reasoning but it seemed like that was the most likely explanation.

Perhaps he should have waited for Al to answer instead of bounding off like a jackass. Granted that he could certainly scour all the rooms and find Elizabeth's room, but he realized that perhaps that would not be the best course of action. With a sigh, his longing so far unfulfilled, the pirate left the room, closing it with a quiet click before making his way back down there stairs.

--Down at the bar--
The bartender held his tongue as he poured Write his drinks, the man seemed to really like his coffee. He was not entirely sure how much to reveal nor did he know how much time he had before that monster realized that Elizabeth was not in her old room. As he finished pouring the drinks, he came to a decision."As you might have realized, that man is not entirely all there in the head. I'm not sure how much he hold you about why he left the island, but I will be remiss if I did not tell you what really happened. Several years ago, that man was a torturer for a local gang and he decided that one of the local escorts by the name of Elizabeth fancied him as much as he fancied her, that is enough to get married. One night, that man came in here and went to see Elizabeth before we could stop him. At that time Elizabeth was entertaining another customer, a local Marine, and that man did not take kindly to that, murdering that Marine in cold blood before being forced to flee. And now it seems that he's back to get her. Fortunately, Elizabeth is not here anymore, she..." the bartender stopped talking as he saw the man in question coming down the stairs.

"Hey Al, what's up with Elizabeth's room? Did she switch rooms or something? Never mind that, could you tell me where her room is?" the doctor asked, placing his hands onto the bar, sparing a brief glance at all the drinks in front of Write. Someone liked to start early. "I'm afraid that I have some bad news sir. Several days ago, Elizabeth went for a walk and somehow managed to fall down one of those craters that led to the interior of the island and no one has seen her ever since. I fear that the robots must have taken her." the bartender said, throwing a pointed glance at Write that said that what he said happened to Elizabeth was not true but he could not reveal what really happened.

The wasp man clenched his hands at the thought of Elizabeth in danger. He would definitely rescue her and be her knight in shining armour. "I know that you have no reason to help me, but I would certainly appreciate it if you accompanied me on this quest." Larry asked Write (and Valkyrie). While he did not particularly care if they went with him or not, having some back up/bait was something that would certainly be useful.

Write nodded along with the story, not exactly surprised with the chain of events that lead to Larry’s current state. It was fairly relatable on a few levels, but one part of the explanation ended up sticking out like a sore thumb. “So, wait, if what I’m hearing is right…” he shook his head. It couldn’t possibly be right, but all of the details pointed to that conclusion. “Is… Is this like, a hostess club? But, you know, a hostess-hostess club? Like, a full one???” He slapped his palms on the counter, leaning in close and talking with a great deal of urgency.

In a turn of events that was probably best for everyone, just as the barkeep gave a slow and reluctant nod, Larry came back down and changed the subject promptly. Write had suspected that the situation regarding this woman would be bad, but he hadn’t suspected it would be as bad as it was. To make matters worse, whatever sort of subtle hint the man had tried to communicated with him were immediately lost, due to a combination of focusing on Larry and whatever his reaction might be, as well as the last part of what the man had said.

Robots. There were apparently robots, something Write immediately realized he wouldn’t be able to talk or trick his way out of a fight with, nor would they give him the advantage of being pitied for his disability. Still, it wasn’t like he wasn’t inexperienced in dealing with mechanical beings, hell, he even managed to defeat an unbreakable android with the logia that now belonged to Valkyrie, and he doubted that whatever was down there would match up to that beast. What came next was what Write was already half expecting, an invitation to help retrieve the bugman’s sweetheart.

Even if he was infatuated with a call girl that likely wasn’t as interested in him as he was in her, Larry unflinchingly and with no hesitation made his choice. Not only was his interest more than piqued already, Write really didn’t have anything to do at the moment in the first place while they waited for their log pose to set to the strange pole that centered the ‘island.’ Getting to know more about this strange but intense man he had been traveling with for a short while but knew next to nothing about was a fair enough bonus even in itself.

Heh, a quest.” He mused, scratching at his chin, then taking what was left of his three drinks and pounding them down in a few seconds each. “Ah-” he smacked his lips, wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand. “Alright, that sounds like a good time, when do we start?

The bartender was not entirely sure if he should have warned the drinking man in front of him. Even after all he had told the man, said man did not seem to care that Larry was a murderous psychopath. This presented a problem if the drinking man decided to reveal all that he was told to the psychopath. While the bartender was not entirely sure what the murderer would do but whatever it was, it would not be good for anyone. Said murderer was just glad that Write decided to take him up on his offer. Since he was not entirely sure how long Elizabeth could survive in the clutches of evil robots, time was of the essence. Who knew what those filthy robots were doing to the love of his life? Just thinking about it filled Larry with anger and no one liked Larry when he was angry. Being angry also led to committing mistakes and he could not afford to make mistakes when it came to rescuing Elizabeth. He could very well gamble with his life and most definitely with Write's and Valkyrie's but not Elizabeth's.

"Well, there is no time like the present. Every minute we spend loitering here is another minute that Elizabeth faces potential death." the doctor exclaimed, pumping one of his fists into the air, suddenly filled with energy. He could do this. He would do this. Or die trying. Not that he wanted to die but he certainly would if that would mean that Elizabeth lived. Or at least that was what he thought. He had never had to test this theory so he could not say for certain that he would die for Elizabeth but he liked to think that he would. Either way, this quest would show him what kind of man he was. Without another word, the wasp man exited the tavern, before stopping several paces outside. Perhaps he should have asked the bartender which hole Elizabeth was taken down but since the man had mentioned that the Elizabeth was taken to the interior of the island, perhaps all that they had to do was just find a hole that led to the tunnels. With so many craters, it shouldn't be that hard to find the correct one. Plus it would be awkward to go back and ask not that he left.

Letting out a sigh, Larry took off towards the nearest crater, people getting out of his way since it became obvious that he would not give way. After a several minutes of walking and looking down several craters, none being deep enough to go to the center of the island, the group finally reached one that looked promising, the hole deep and dark enough where the bottom could not be seen. "Well, no turning back now." the doctor said with a smile before turning into a wasp and flying into the darkness below.

Valkyrie was of a mixed mind with this entire visit a random island over the whims of the mentally deranged bug idea. On one hand, she really would rather not bother with the entire thing, she didn’t like the guy, didn’t like going out of her way for nothing of interest to her, and unlike her less worldly companions, she was willing to fork out enough money for the News Coo to actually know what the fuck was going on with the world. She knew damn well that there was a nasty fight in this island involving Cipher Pol, a bunch of marines, and a currently arrested former Warlord and didn’t fancy dealing with the inevitable marine presence either.

On the other hand, she would possibly get to murder the hell out of a bunch of marines and with that warlord and the other warlord’s pet bug in custody, said marines should be far too busy dealing with that potential clusterfuck to have anything too troublesome lying around in wait. She was caught in indecision and as such chose to just go with the flow and hope that the ‘adventure’ didn’t end up pissing her off too badly. Because she sure as hell knew that those two fuckers would do something to annoy her and make her question why she didn’t try to drown them in magma. Even the third annoying little menace was currently aggravating her solely by the vanishing act she had pulled. Sure the others believed that she’d left, but Valkyrie had gotten enough of a handle on their shitty luck to know better, and if she had to deal with her, she would at least make ONE person on this damned ship into someone she could deal with without healthy amounts of violence. Even if she had to use healthy amounts of violence to do it.

But back to the present pains in the ass. Sure the scenery was nice enough, massive holes in the ground caused by, if rumour had it, a giant fucking laser cannon, and the odd marine or two who didn’t quite pay enough attention to them to recognize them – and she didn’t know what to feel about that one, but honestly things weren’t all that bad yet. Which of course meant that when the other shoe dropped, it would suck that much harder. Given the things that had happened on the other islands, Valkyrie thought that she had good cause to be in a doubting mood, but when the fucked up part of the affair came to light….well it was far less horrible than expected. Was she becoming used to the general fucked up nature of hanging around Write and strays? Again, she didn’t know how to feel about that.

Ah well, if the only issue here was dealing with a crazy stalker bug, she could deal with it. She could also mock him mercilessly for being a creeper – sure Write was one as well but she mocked the hell out of him too so really, why would she give a shit? The only thing holding her back was the potential to humour this nonsense long enough to gather more appropriate material for her amusement, it wasn’t as if she had anything better to do anyway. So it was that while Write was his perverted self (although seeing him potentially interested in perving on women who were actually legal was a surprise – not that she’d discourage him from not being a paedophile) and Larry decided to set off on his inane quest to hunt down the woman who likely wanted nothing to do with him and had left the island if she had any sense at all, she leaned against the bar, waiting for the two to leave earshot before talking to the bartender.

“Now that the two stooges are gone, explain what’s actually going on with this Elizabeth woman, at least so I know where not to direct that creeper bug. I intend to milk this sad, pathetic thing for as long as possible before smacking him and tossing him back on a ship and running into the woman would probably spoil things. Also, what the fuck, did he seriously stab a marine over a whore doing her thing? Goddamn that’s fucking hilarious! Please tell me they were in the middle of doing it.”

Write nodded in agreement with the sentiment that they should leave as soon as possible, wheeling out behind Larry, letting the bugman take the lead, while Valkyrie took the opportunity to have a word with the barman. She was probably trying to pry further as to what exactly was going on. Though he briefly considered asking her what she had learned, he personally felt the less he knew, the more fun he would have, since at the moment this whole situation was like some sort of twisted country ballad.

Finally reaching a crater that apparently had everything Larry was looking for in a hole in the ground, Write scratched at his cheek and yawned as the bugman was the first to descend. “Gaucho Amigo.” He crooned, fiddling around with the sword at his hip as his hair twisted and formed into the shape of a humanoid figure. Flopping out of his wheelchair and onto the ground, he folded the chair and slung it on his back, then drew Caledfwlch, activating the flash dial in its hilt and pointing it down the dark shaft. “Well, it’d be kind of a dick move to just let poor Larry go down on his own, let’s go, Gaucho.

Wro.

With a groan, the pirate lazily let himself fall into the crater. As it turned out, it was much deeper than he anticipated. Maybe it wasn’t as good an idea as he thought, doing… this. Still, he wasn’t about to be done in by something as simple as a fall. “Sl- Slang of Ages!” he muttered against the rushing air that was doing a good job at drying his mouth and eyes. With that Gaucho snapped in front of Write, then expanded greatly into a big, soft mass, and just in time, as they collided with the ground.

Uuuugh, what a pain in the ass.” The man groaned as the dust settled. Even with Gaucho padding the fall, it was pretty rough, and he was thankful he wasn’t built like your normal garden-variety person. Not even bothering sitting up and with the assumption that Larry was nearby, he stretched his arms and said “Alright, we are in the hole. That was phase one… Did we have a phase two in the first place?

The bartender regarded the woman shrewdly. Unlike the wheelchair bound man, she seemed vicious, whether physically or emotionally or both. As much as he hated the murderer, the bartender did not particularly care to get between any of them. "You don't have to worry about running into Elizabeth on this island and I have already said everything I wanted to say on the altercation between that man and the Marine officer." the bartender replied, his tone cold, not appreciating the words nor the tone the woman used. Elizabeth was like a daughter to him no matter what profession she chosen nor what she decided to do with her life. "If that is all, I would appreciate it if you chose another establishment for your drinking needs. You and your party are making the customers uncomfortable." the man said, looking pointedly towards the door. If Valk would look around, the only customer was an old man passed out further down the bar.

Down in the hole, Larry flitted down as far as the space allowed, changing into back into his human form and taking a look around. This far down, the sun's rays were far and in between but it was not compete darkness. Or at least it was not complete to his eyes. To almost every one it was as good as pitch black. In any case, the pirate did not see anything that was in anyway dangerous. A couple of moments later, he saw a bright light approaching the bottom quickly, said light revealing itself to be the sword that Write picked up back on the Sky Islands. Attached to the sword was the beetle himself, falling onto the ground with a dull thud, his hair providing a cushion, sending dust flickering through the sword light. "Well, I'm kinda making this up as I go along." the doctor replied, a bit sheepishly, rubbing his head.

Whether or not Write noticed it, the wasp man was not exactly acting his usual aloof and creepy self. If anything, he was somewhat embarrassed and nervous. It could certainly be attributed to the fact that he never really was in charge of any planning before, not really. He was used having to be in charge of only himself. The short stint with his brother did not really amount to much with said brother really just doing whatever he wanted. And now Write was placing his trust in him to lead them to success. It would make anyone nervous. It was also quite possible that he was not his usual self when Elizabeth was involved. After all, what man did not lose his mind when in a woman was involved? As much of a creep and not all there Larry was, he was still a hot-blooded man. In any case, he did not time to dawdle down here. "Phase two will have to be scouring these tunnels in search of Elizabeth." the pirate continued simply before heading off into the darkness towards the entrance of the tunnels.

The further he went, the quieter it got, the only sounds was an occasional drop of water on stone and the shuffling of feet from the group. Minutes passed by without anything of particular note happening before the doctor noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Whoever it was would hopefully have information on Elizabeth. "We need to capture him alive." the man said in a low voice before dashing after the shadow. Said shadow almost immediately followed suit, moving down one of the side tunnels.

“Ah, so she did have the common sense to simply leave the island and avoid the whole issue, that’s good, don’t have to bother about that then.” Much unlike the beetle, Valkyrie was perfectly capable of staying on topic long enough to get what she wanted done, which was simultaneously getting information and needling the bartender since he seemed to be so sensitive about this subject. “And you’d need to have customers in the first place for there to be anyone to get uncomfortable. Although that incident with the Warlord likely has a lot to do with the mood around here.” And on that note, since those two were running around where said warlord’s stuff was, she should go keep an eye on them in case her meatshield got himself into something absurd again. “But we are done here, got better things to do today.” With that, Valkyrie headed out to the hole, looking down into the cavern and not seeing anything beyond a tiny pinprick of light.

Well it wasn’t as if a deep cavern was any kind of issue to her, not compared to what might be down there under any event. With a slight smirk on her face she jumped forward, freefalling into the depths without a care as that pinprick of light rapidly grew bigger, Valkyrie noting just how long she was falling for and what that meant for how very deep they were heading until she could see the ground itself approaching, the girl landing on her feet in a crouch, hair billowing behind her in a cloud of dust and getting back up again without any signs of discomfort. It was the little things like this that made eating that devil fruit worthwhile, like being able to ignore any kind of falling damage. From the ground it was easy enough to see that the light was the beetle with the ridiculous sword he’d taken from Skypeia.

“So, how long are you going to keep up this search for your whore anyway?”
Valkyrie asked idly, walking along behind them. She certainly didn’t have enough interest in what was going on to go chasing after a shadow, not yet, and she wanted to get an idea of how utterly in denial Larry was about the truth of this sordid affair. He did at least know that the girl he was stalking was actually a whore right?

While it was nice to see Larry show a side of himself that hadn’t really come up before, it was still a bit unsettling. As embarrassing as it was looking back on it, Write was all too familiar with the madness of love, and in situations possibly more bleak than the one Larry was in with his interest at the moment. “Making it up as I go along is the only way I know how to get through life.” Write comforted the bug man as he unfolded his wheelchair and dragged himself into the seat. It was about that time that the bug man swallowed his apprehension, if only for a minute, and laid out part of a plan.

Despite phase two being rather simplistic and honestly fairly self-explanatory, Write smiled and gave a small nod. “Got it, boss.” Of course, Valk arriving with her heart on her sleeve came soon after, but the inventor simply bit his tongue, though he did take it as a semi-promising sign. Even after probably asking for the whole story from the bartender, she still came along, despite her distaste for wasting time. While that could still be attributed to her wanting to blow off steam by destroying shit underground, it was nonetheless a good thing for her to be there.

After a bit of uneventful tunnel-walking, Larry seemed rather intent on chasing something into the darkness, leaving Write and Valkyrie alone. “Alive? I thought all that was down here was robots. Are robots really alive?” He asked, though not really to anyone, nor looking for an answer. Not particularly in the mood for chasing down robots in the first place, he decided to let Larry take care of it for the time being, and instead cut his eyes over at Valkyrie and sighed.

As much as you want to tell me, I don’t want to know what you heard, alright? Even if it’s a lost cause, this is all he wants. Even if he is touched in the head and after a whore, I’ve already decided to see this through, for some reason.” The last bit was a half-truth, he had a pretty good idea of why he chose to come along, though it was silly enough for him to prefer to write it off as no reason. “If you want to go and do something else while I’m on this field trip, I’m fine with that.” He finished, wheeling towards the side tunnel Larry had left through, carelessly tossing Caledfwlch at Gaucho, and watching as his stand went past him, illuminating the tunnel as it went.

Larry ignored Valk's question as he shot off into the dark. While he was fully aware of what Elizabeth did for a living and that it was nothing to be ashamed off, the pirate still could not help but feel slightly insulted by the volatile woman's words. He certainly could understand why someone like her, someone with no tact, would call Elizabeth a whore, but that did not mean that he had to listen to those words. He knew that he was being irrational, but how would someone react if their mother or sister were called a whore, even if that was their profession? They would certainly not react favorably. And since he could not exactly punch Valk without being burned to a crisp, ignoring her stinging words was the only thing he could do. And judging from the lack of footsteps behind him, the doctor was all alone. Just him and whoever or whatever it was that he was chasing. Perhaps he shouldn't be chasing after an unknown entity alone down the dark tunnels. Granted that his night vision did help enough not to stumble over anything and to tell him enough that the shape was vaguely humanoid, but still.

Turning into his wasp form, the waspman put on an additional burst of speed, closing the distance between himself and the shadows before returning to his human form, his body flying towards the shadow and tackling it to the ground. The first thing that he noticed that the shadow felt rather hard underneath his grasp, as if it was made of metal. And then the shadow turned its head one hundred and eighty degrees and its eyes glowed, bathing the immediate area in pale light and revealing what it was that the man had been chasing. A skeleton robot. "Keh, keh, keh. You are too late. The others have been alerted to your presence." the robot cackled even though it's mouth was not moving. A few moments passed Larry tried to figure out what the hell the thing was talking about. And then it hit him, both literally and figuratively as he realized that there were probably other robots around this area at the same time as the robot beneath him reared its arm and sucker punched the pirate off of him before leaping to its feet, small blades extending from its fingers like claws.

Back where Write and Valk was, if Valk was still there, dozens of red glowing dots appeared in the shadows around them and out of the shadows creaks of metal could be heard as dozens of robots shambled out, their intent quite clear.

It seemed to be about his luck that, as soon as he was alone, there would be a swarm of robots, apparently out for blood. “You’ve gotta be kidding me.” He stared slack-jawed down the passageway, noting the sheer quantity of the darn things. Deciding to not waste time, Write immediately grabbed ahold of one of the creatures to gauge what he was dealing with. The initial struggled seemed to show that they were a touch stronger than him, and made of a metal he wouldn’t be able to physically break on his own.

Valkyrie! Vaaaalk! Nola Valkyrie?” He called over his shoulder as he held back the hissing robot that was trying its best to attack the pirate, though it was a bit laughable how ineffective it was at that. They might be stronger, he decided, but they likely had no effective way to deal with someone as durable as he was. It also seemed like his little metal melter wasn’t going to show up, but that was fair enough.

Gaucho!” He called, cupping his mouth with his free hand, then removing one of the shields on his wheelchair and throwing it at his stand. “Wro!” It called in return, grabbing ahold of the shield and grasping it just as Write grasped the other, flat against his knuckle rather than looped around his forearm. The pirate smirked, letting go of the robot and clicking the lock of his chair’s wheels.

On either side of the hall, both the pirate and his stand were swarmed by the robots, though both figures remained calm, simply holding their shielded arms back.

Now!” “Wro!

Simultaneously, Write and Gaucho punched forward with extreme force, causing the creatures that surrounded their fronts to be knocked back in giant clusters of metal, accumulating and growing in speed, until the two masses collided with a sickening crunch.

With a smile, Write wheeled towards the twitching pile of out-of-commission mechanics and gave a small nod to his stand, taking back the shields and placing them back in their rightful spot, then retrieving Caledfwlch. A few straggling robots remained, but he paid them little attention, opting to set a course past the cluster of screeching parts and towards where he assumed Larry was.

Hey, bud, I think I found some of those robots you mentioned earlier.

Valkyrie didn’t comment on Write’s nonsense immediately, not understanding just why he was so willing to go along with what even he must have worked out was a fool’s errand following after some lovestruck fool. It seemed like a colossal waste of time to Valkyrie’s senses but then it wasn’t as if they had anything pressing to do either and while she couldn’t get the emotions behind it, she also put Write in front as the captain for a reason; sure the meat shield reasoning did not hold water anymore since it defeated the point if she’d just go out of her way to keep him relatively safe anyway but he was still the part of the duo who could actually empathise with others, while Valkyrie’s own childhood had her bar for emotional investment at a point where most people simply could not meet.

She mused on the whole lack of emotional connection problem as she strolled after the beetle at her own sedate pace, seeing no reason to rush; it wasn’t as if she could make the stalker bug realise he was wasting his time faster. Sure she could just tell him the truth but she was reasonably certain that he would not only not believe her, but just get stubborn and set in and either make things take even more time and annoy her, or do something really stupid and lash out at her and Write would get all disappointed and bitchy if she roasted him alive. Fucking morals. They were fucking pirates, and one of them was a mass murderer! Well besides her she supposed.

Although she wouldn’t get all whiny about losing a whore that she used to lust over either. Mostly because she didn’t have anything remotely approaching romantic sentiments for anyone or anything but still, she was sure that even if someone managed to draw her attention, she wouldn’t become so disgusting to go charging off and ignoring everything else. Like all those wannabe ninja robots darting about in the shadows like she couldn’t notice them.

She couldn’t even begin to muster the effort to actively go after them, choosing instead to continue trailing after the beetle, the sounds of damage and Write calling for her making it obvious that he was getting jumped. Whatever, she knew damn well that this garbage wasn’t going to even slow him down. Some of them eventually came out in some sad attempt to get in her way. How many were there really? It didn’t matter. Her sword was drawn, black blade someone standing out in the darkness. The robots approached, and the black obsidian became a molten red glow that promised nothing but death, Valkyrie not even bothering to humour an assault, instead swinging horizontally, a condensed beam of magma following the wake of her blade, crushing and melting the robots in her way.

She didn’t even bother to stop walking throughout the excuse of a fight. “If you needed them in one piece….or still solid…well sucks to be you I guess.” She called out as an afterthought.
