Yes, come to the light... Nick is also an absolute snark master, so where others might just get confused or annoyed at a sarcastic line, Nick just snarks right back. |

So I write for this website run by retards who think I'm European for some reason. Why the fuck do we keep nominating the worst games for game of the year? Like not even fun games. Life is Strange isn't fun or good. 'Her Story' isn't fun or good. Emily is away isn't fun or good. Like seriously we're suppose to bring this shit to a vote, and on average we gave these games an eight out of ten? Why the fuck aren't we just saying Undertale? Most of us agreed it handled morality better than most triple-A games this year. It had an open world that felt like there was a reason to it being open world, and it somehow stayed more true to it's roots as a classical RPG while avoiding the generic and stale combat. Why the fuck are there people on this site going "Rise of the Tomb Raider was pretty good." Yes, it was. Pretty good shouldn't equal game of the year. Bloodbourne is pretty good. It's by no means anyone's game of the year assuming you have at least two friends who you let play it and they rightful said it was so hard it became boring and not worth playing. Am I missing something here? Why the fuck are people nominating all these games where like women are forced to interact with the player character to some degree. Are nerds really guys who sit around praying for the day that some manic pixie dream girl shows up and sings a whole new world with them as they run through some fantasy land? Because it's not really doing anything for me. Like hell, Fallout 4 easily mops up in every category they're discussing but they don't want to nominate it because "Alot of people still haven't finished it yet." But I'm like... what... Mind you this is the same site where the guy who BEGGED to review Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain had never played another MGS game, and halfway through a podcast with him I had to stop myself from calling him a fucking retard because "He didn't understand why people were acting like the man nicked named BIG BOSS was such a big deal." That's a good way to live your life. Show up to the last act of a movie and then wonder why none of it makes sense. |

Fallout 4's been getting a lot of shit. People are salty. Game's great. Fam, LiS had a great story. I should probably try getting into Undertale. How's Witcher 3? Is it as good as people say? Go to sleep, Oni, you're tired. |

Life is Strange is a great story if you really didn't have many friends, and you dream of some hipster bullshit. Every episode is literally you living out a friendship that is all take and no give. Yeah there's the underline story of who killed Roger Rabbit, but that could easily have been removed and the story would still stand on it's own. The fact that the powers you obtain aren't explained and the 'Good' Ending is when you return back to the moment you got them and it plays out like the whole game was a 'What if?' scenario of some kid dreaming of a life with a friend they'll never have, makes it pretty much just Adventure Game coat tail riding. Witcher 3 is good. It's another Witcher game for better or worse. Wouldn't win Open World of the year, wouldn't win any prizes for good characters. A couple of the monsters are really cool. Story is meh. World is big and amazing. |

Undertale is hands down my vote for game of the year, not that my vote matters anywhere. The game had a compelling story, insane replayability, intricate and thought provoking morality systems, a myriad of interesting characters, fun gameplay where even the lowest and weakest enemies can intrigue you or make you laugh, and so many easter eggs that people are still just discovering some of them. Add all of that with Toby nailing my sense of humor and I was teary eyed from laughs. At other times my tears were shed for the exact opposite reason. Not to mention I never once had a bad time. edit: While I'm here, what website is it you write for? Could I possibly get a link in a pm? Edited by KileyBarker, Nov 28 2015, 06:11 PM.

Mind you this was a pretty big year for games released, but even taking all the triple-A games into account maybe like two of them stuck with me. And neither of those two were as well done as Undertale. Like halfway through I'm like "Man can't wait to play this a second time." Meanwhile the most memorable thing I can say about Fallout 4 is that I'm getting really fucking tired of the gifs of people going "Zomg this guy modded Captain Kangaroo into the game and it's epic." |

MGS5 dies out in the second chapter and has no conclusive ending because it was literally cut. My biggest annoyance keeping it from a 9 and a 10 is the fact that: - hard mode missions wasn't a checkbox option for all the missions once you completed them on normal. - The vast majority of chapter 2 missions were these hard mode missions that are just completely optional to progress too. - To not be spoiling too much, lack of conclusion to the second chapter aka end of the game. The "true" ending only explains some backstory for the first Metal Gear game (not even Solid, the one most people didn't even know existed) and Konami pulling the plug on mission 51 kinda kicked it firmly out the best story category. - FOB's are complete garbage. Either the connection never happens, it's laggy or you can't invade anyone cuz they're already being invaded. The couple times I had got into an invasion, they didn't even show up to defend and I might as well have been playing offline. That and the micro-transactions kinda killed it for me. Took me forever to save up to get that third base so I could stock more dudes and resources and I can't even do it offline... It's a cool concept failing in execution. - Metal Gear Online. Literally just another multiplayer shooter where you run around gunning instead of this teamwork experience they promoted. Though Iunno maybe that's better now than it was a month ago. I should revisit this but my first experience, between lag that warped everyone around, disconnects and it's generic nature, I didn't have much fun at all. Should revisit mgs5 in general, game's just fun to play because gameplay wise, it does so much right and is just a fun enjoyable time whether you're being serious or just trolling around. But it just falls flat in it's final sprint and drops the ball on story and the online component. BB is fun, very fun. But then again I'm one of the guys who didn't really have much problems playing through it. Optional content is a bitch but it's fun. Can see why it's not for everyone, that's painfully obvious... Undertale's cool. Wouldn't mind it winning more awards but I feel the hype train is going a bit too hard on that one. Considering it has the same aesthetic and humour that once drew so many homestuck fans into the latter, I'm not really that surprised by the former's popularity but... It's annoying how their hype is almost killing my own with it's intensity? Yeah, sorta like that. |

MGSV is good but it feels lacking really bad. Like it tried to tie together things that didn't need to be tied together, and it ended on a low note. For the life of me I couldn't begin to even explain why any part of MGSV would be considered worthwhile outside of the first like hour and the last 'spoiler' cutscene. It's a steady game with a very steady center, but it's not anything to write home about. If you liked the MGS series so far, and you felt that the gameplay needed to be changed, then this is your game. If you liked MGS 1, 2, 3, 4, Peacwalker, Portal OPs, but hated Ground Zeroes, probably not the game for you. In terms of story alone. Gameplay is fun as hell and has alot of freedom, which is strange because those are literally two fo the things I didn't really go and play MGS for. I was in it more for the stealth and insane plot twists of dead people creating multi-million PMC so that they could remake Ghost Dad or whatever. Here's the thing about Undertale, it is mostly based on nostalgia and broadening and expanding on already existing knowledge people have with old style RPG's. Homestuck to me feels like "ZOLOLOL I LUV DANK MEMES~!" And that's what makes it work. The best piece of information I've gotten from someone who enjoys video games and liked Undertale was, just go buy it and stop talking about it. It's one of those games in my opinion. A game that works if it's your thing and it works really well, but listening to someone explain it to me or hype it up makes them sound mentally challenged. Shovel Knight felt the same way, a game entirely based on nostalgia, and very basic gameplay that just ended up being fun. |

Also why is it weird girls with really bad ideas about the modern day world seem to like Steven Universe? It's like 25% of the fanbase here is normal and enjoys the show and the other 75% are mental enough to apply for a one-way trip to crazy town. I hate when normal things slowly get turned into a huge following by some crazies. Is this what Fandom is? How do we stop it? Can we kill it with fire? |

Bit late but to be fair Fallout is getting a lot of shit because it's actively worse in almost every respect to Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 4 has better shooting (arguably) and graphics, that's it. People were expecting more and didn't get it, 4 isn't even really an RPG because you can't roleplay at all, there aren't even really any choices until the end and even then they're inflexible and have no depth, just like the rest of the game. Don't get me wrong, I like it, I've sung a lot of hours into it, but it definitely deserves the shit it gets. Bethesda were lazy as fuck and are relying on a good modding community to finish the game for them. All that said, Nick is the best companion. |

Fallout 4 fucked itself when it decided 'voice acting' would give us a better character. Instead of making some unknown dickhead who could be rude and use his skills to change the world around him. You now play as a former military man/lawyer woman who's out to find their kid and make the world a better place. It's more like I'm playing a story where I'm forced to be a certain character, instead of making a character who's actions are helping to shape the world based on what I do and say to people. After I beat the main story and most of the not RNG missions, the game got dead as fuck to me. I literally sit around fixing up houses and hoping that I have to defend someplace because the challenge is slowly fading. Yeah the companions are cool, but after romancing like 5 of them, and helping Nick I don't really care anymore. I don't know or care what Codsworth's deal is, and it doesn't make or break the game either way for me. The replay value is gone because your build and actions don't really change the game too much. In New Vegas I could throw all my points in strength and genuinely feel like I was an idiot who could only solve problems with my fist. Now I can throw all my points in Int. and it feels like I'm the same idiot I'd be with zero points in it. It's just shallow compared to NV, but to be fair I felt Witcher III was shallow because I didn't care about any of the characters. Also why is Nick the best companion? Do people just like his personality alot? I'll admit he has the best personality, but like he won't stop using some shitty pistol. |
