Since it's creation, it has become a force that could rival a certain aspect of Armament Haki. But, I know it is more than that. And instantly it got a negative response from me, as I consider it to be zapping out the value of Haki. But, this an uninformed and biased response. This thing has been bugging me for a long time now. And I feel, I should reshape my pinion on GM. So, I want to know exactly how it works. Giving Examples can help |

It doesn't "zap out" value from haki at all, they're completely seperate things. I think I said this a bazillion times on the board already but I can't find any post of mine without digging for more than 15 mins so here we go again. Haki is a myriad of abilities, the aspect you're referring to allows it to hit all devil fruits, regardless of any abilities that would otherwise prevent you from damaging the user. Logia's, rubberman, steelman, diamondman, all regular men to you. Or women, whatever. On top of that, it does many, many more things like barriers, hardening, extra non-elemental damage... And that's just armour haki. Grandmaster does exactly one thing. It allows you to hit elements like they were tangible for a split moment. The only thing it has in common with haki is that it can hit logia's specifically and mess with some production paramecias like Doku. Other than that, it's an entirely different skill set from Haki. So what does this mean for GM? Well, in short, elemental fuckery that's what. It's more of a counter ability against heavy elemental users, fiery explosions and whatnot. I have a char that has it so I can do fishman karate just that little bit better but it's not manditory in the slightest. What do you win by taking it over haki? Haki can't hit raw elemental shockwaves or cesspools of fire and whatnot. But you might as well just toss out your own shockwave and clash on equal rank principles. GM just gives you an edge in doing so. Begs the question, when do you take GM? When you have mastery and decide "Maybe I want to deal with elements better for my character". Haki is something you take for a lot more reasons and has a far deeper skill set for a bigger cost to unlock it all. GM is a trait invest to do about one third of what one specific aspect of armour haki can do. Please don't compare the two otherwise. |

There is a reason why I emphasised on a 'certain aspect' of haki. I am not comparing the two. I am well aware of how Haki works. What I meant with my statement was that I felt, that since GM allowed df hitting like Armament Haki, it'd be a substitute for that particular aspect of haki and would kind of devalue this aspect of haki. But it would obviously not be a substitute of haki as a whole. That's mostly because, even if the question was bothering me, it wasn't of any importance to me to know about GM mechanics for all that while. Hence my understanding of this trait was poor. But I guess you answered my major questions and that helps. Thanks Ice |
