Dials and Tech Questions

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information about dials and their usefulness on the forum, aside from free form potential within reasonable levels. But in regards to what they are capable of and how they operate with techniques I had a few questions come to mind.

Impact Dial: What does it do on the site? Canon wise it is shown to absorb any blunt or explosive impacts, then releasing it. Do they have a technique or damage limit to what can be absorbed, a limit on how much they can release, how AE scales, etc.

Dials Vs Techniques

With the rules of being able to purchase technique equipment up to a certain rank depending on where your location is at, how do dials affect things?

For instance flamethrowers. Say you are in the GL and purchase a steel flamethrower of rank 14. Would it be any different in strength or cost than a flame dial of rank 14 and if so by how much?

Or do dials provide a reduction on the purchase of techniques using their base function. Going back off of the flame thrower, purchasing a nondial one that is capable of sending out streams of fire, or shooting longer ranged balls of flames of all rank 14 in strength.

Would a flame dial powered one doing the same techniques, have a discount on the beli cost or AE of the techniques?

I would appreciate non-vague answers, and if you do not feel comfortable for some reason in stating it then please provide examples to help explain how they would work. Simply saying "They are significantly more cost effective, slightly more powerful, depends on stamina, etc" would only result in me attempting to pull teeth to get actually satisfying answers.

  • Impact Dials: in canon, impact dials can absorb and release kinetic energy. Here, they work as any other dial which you can freeform with. It is up to you whether to create a specific technique to use it, Impact dials deliver internal damage when you successfully hit your opponent. As for the limit of times they can be used, one of the main rules on the site is to be reasonable. So i'm sure not that many before it runs out.

  • The power difference would matter depending on the size of the flame dial. The bigger it is, the more powerful and pricey they are. Using dials that have shockwave benefits don't consume AE, which is what's so good about dials in general. The only way you can get a discount on dials is if you did a sl or are in the sky island reign. I hope this answers your questions.

The only dial that has a limit to how much it absorbs is the water dial for obviously reasons since we dont want one person sucking up all the water in the world with a single dial. When it comes to impact dials its capped at being I think it was either double or triple the rank. The other dials that are offensive do dial rank x 3 + rank of tech damage l believe it was updated awhile back. There were a lot of questions and I'll try to answer them later since I'm not feeling very great.
