Character Template [-----] Account Name: Silim Basic Character Information Name: Daguva N. Zeba Nickname: Zeb Age: 19 Gender: Male Race: Human Affiliation: Marine Rank (Commendations): Seaman (0) Achievements: None Profession: Martial Artist (Primary, Signature Stat: Strength) A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body. Characters with this profession have access to certain additional traits and may create "Stance" techniques. Doctor (Secondary) A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew. Position: TBA Physical Appearance Height: 1.75 meters Weight: 90 kg Hair: Black, long, ponytail, some loose in the front Eyes: Black Clothing/Accessories: Dark grey and black clothes, often a longer coat, during free time. On duty, white marine coat over grey and black shirts, pants and boots, together with greaves for fighting. General Appearance: Despite his dark clothing of choice, Daguva is a rather 'shining' young man, with a kind expression and smile on his face, often keeping a very relaxed stance with his hands in the pockets of his coat, sometimes seemingly leaning backwards a bit. Known for having exceptionally clean and shiny teeth almost always. His ears stand off of his head slightly. The general shape of his face is sharp, yet also somewhat soft, in equal mixture -while the general shape of his face and head are sharper, it isn't sharply cut around that shape. When fighting, his expression completely changes, into an almost mad grin, coupled with incredibly cocky body language and manner of speech, often inviting people to get closer to him with gestures. His general stance favors one with the left leg slightly more forward than the right. On closer inspection, one can find many small scars all along his body, although his face seems miraculously untouched. These scars have a variety of sources, some being cuts that healed relatively cleanly, others clearly the result of immense blunt trauma ripping open skin. The ones that look 'fresher' are all cleaner, as if those wounds had actually received treatment, while older ones apparently healed by themselves without medical attention apart from maybe a bandage or two. To cover up his scars, Daguva virtually always wears long sleeves and pants, even in very hot weather. The loose hair in front of his forehead hides the only scar in his face, right under his hairline, which also looks like a healed cut. Spoiler: click to toggle The Character "Win and you are just, lose and you are evil." Personality: Daguva seems like a reasonably happy and friendly person to most, even if he is a bit on the weirder side. He speaks rather carefully, often intersected with chuckles and small laughs, and always with a certain optimism to it all, and sometimes a bit of really, really dark humor, especially when the situation doesn't call for it. He isn't exactly the best at reading a situation or understanding the feelings of others in any way, lacking quite a bit of the empathy normal people possess. Daguva is also a bit of a blood knight, meaning he loves to fight and challenge others and himself, not to mention training a lot every day. He rarely relaxes, though he enjoys untouched nature a bit for the few times he does. He has a certain dislike for cramped places, preferring open sky above him, as he isn't used to having a roof over the head. His tendency to challenge others is never really filled with menace - if he takes the time to ask for a fight, he is doing so just to both improve and showcase his own strength. Despite his inability to understand complex emotions around him thanks to long deprivation of them, he can certainly understand sadness, despair and fear. He's a rather lax individual, and will probably not beat up a pickpocket for stealing, but someone who makes anyone cry - especially children - are anything but safe from him. He can fly into brutal, almost murderous rage whenever someone makes a child cry. He doesn't understand why someone cries, or how to comfort them... so all he can do is beat down whatever makes them cry, since nobody did so for him, he does it to help others be not as screwed up as he himself admittedly is. Daguva doesn't have illusions about being a great man. He lives by the only philosophy he ever learned, knowing that it is flawed, but also unable to stop and think about his life in fear of going completely insane - or rather, more insane than he already is. On the one hand, he wants people to be happy - on the other, he embraces violence to make the evils of the world pay. As a result of his upbringing, he doesn't consider his own life worth all that much unless he gets to prove its worth through repeated, victorious battle. Hometown: Loguetown, East Blue History: Daguva was born in Loguetown, although not much of his childhood was spent there. His parents where simple merchants, selling and buying virtually everything that was available on the free market, until they got an exceptionally good deal on a massive storage of lamp oil. As fate would have it, they did not have actual good fortune. Daguva was around four years old at this point, as the storage room on the bottom floor of their building suddenly sprung a leak and started a roaring inferno - the seller had 'forgotten' to mention that this oil was the result of a highly volatile experiment with new fire starters and had been deemed to dangerous for use, for even prolonged exposure to the air would ignite it. With the family trapped upstairs above the inferno, his parents died in their sleep, with only their son waking up in time to smell the smoke and see the flames roaring out of the hallway and into his room. Panicked, the boy jumped out of his window, and thankfully, there just so happened to be some wooden boxes stacked underneath to break his fall somewhat. Wood planks weren't exactly nice to land on from the second floor, but they were still preferable to stones. While the inferno didn't spread too far, Daguva was still left without any parents. As people were still trying to figure out what to do with him, the boy simply vanished the next night, still traumatized and kidnapped by a group with more nefarious goals... The group was an amoral splinter group of the marine, trying to find a scientific way of creating new, more effective marine soldiers. Daguva wasn't the only child kidnapped, though he was one of the youngest. Secretly, the scientists dumped all of the kids onto a somewhat hostile island, with a rather simple objective... survive, by any means necessary, while fulfilling the conditions of the 'game'. Those that fulfilled their 'game' conditions were rewarded, got positive reinforcement, some were even told that their parents were glad for their successes and such and would visit them soon, if they only kept winning the 'games' to win the overarching 'game'. A psychological experiment... to see how far one could push children before they became completely feral. The games started 'harmless' enough - steal food from three other kids within one week, beat up one other child alone, but soon, they devolved into more... deranged tasks, all to harden the children more. Daguva did not have a childhood - he only had the 'game', and its message. "Win, and you are just. Lose, and you are evil." And so, he fought and even killed whenever the games wanted it from him, relishing in battle and adrenaline, the only 'fun' he could have on the island being the games. When he was eighteen years old, the experiment was finally deemed almost over... With one final requirement. Kill all other remaining children to become the ultimate winner, with the scientists watching their results. However, they had not expected how crafty their 'experiments' had gotten in the meantime - thanks to all of the bloodshed, Daguva had also learned how to fix up a body again, and used some favors owed by the other test subjects to stage a massive breakout on the final day, in which a few of the other test subjects and scientists died. But since they died, they were evil - only evil people lost, after all. So this only proved that he, Daguva, was just and fair. Escaping back to civlization on a stolen ship was quite the challenge, but not as much as trying to fit into normal life again. Daguva was bewildered by how normal humans acted - so devoid of the rush of fighting was the island they landed on, that it quelled his own lust for battle, especially when he saw some kids playing an actual 'game'. Trying his best to observe to find a way to fit in with normal people, Daguva was hanging around the harbor of the island he had fled to when a pirate ship of some small-time, but rather brutal pirates docked. His instincts allowed him to instantly understand the shifted atmosphere, causing him to watch cautiously, until one of the pirates took the ball a few kids were playing with and threw it far into the water, causing the little girl it belonged to to start crying. That sound, the sound of a girl crying, suddenly sent Daguva flying into a rage he had not felt in years. He saw himself, alone on an island of 'games' and pain, but unlike with himself, he could see the cause of the tears here, and that source of tears had the audacity to laugh. Like a wild animal, Daguva jumped onto the pirate and his crewmates, giving them the most brutal beating he could, laughing all the way with a lighthearted, almost childish laugh, for he finally got to prove just who was really 'evil', because they all lost top him. Covered in his own blood just as much as that of his enemies, the young martial artist passed out. A few days later, Daguva woke up from his injuries, coming face to face with the marine medics who had taken care of him after the villagers had called for them. There, he got an offer: Use his strength to bring justice everywhere, to make sure no child ever has to cry again. And so, Daguva N. Zeba became a marine, not knowing that a few former marines had been the reason for all of the pain after his parents died. Abilities and Possessions Combat: Aggressive style, relying on quick kicks and knee strikes to wear down an enemy's defense before going for big, high-damage attacks that might be slower thanks to windup and greater force. Very bad at blocking and defending. Relies more on his kicks than his punches. Weaponry: Iron-quality greaves for both legs. 'Mighty Style' Mastery (1 Trait) - The character has attained mastery in one specific weapon or form of attack that they have Martial Proficiency (can make techniques greater than rank 14) with. All techniques using this weapon or form of attack are always treated as being four ranks higher for purposes of calculating their technique rank benchmark, though their actual rank is not changed. This benefit ceases to apply for techniques higher than rank 28. Mighty Style encompasses all techniques that either rely heavily on kicks and knee-strikes, or that favor strength over form and speed. It generally doesn't have any purely defensive moves associated with it.

it's somewhat important to know what your mastery encompasses in this case: what is 'Mighty Style'? I generally presume it's what you have detailed in combat section, but I'd like an explicit connection drawn on the sheet. Thus far I'm drawing the following: knee-centric, kick-centric, force and power over speed, not a defensive style. Would argue that Brutal Assault doesn't necessarily fit the power over speed mantra, but you can just say your mastery applies to kicks and knees and render it a moot point. will come back tmrw, just came back from a trip and am super tired atm |

I hope you had fun on your trip. Also, added the following to Mighty Style: Mighty Style encompasses all techniques that either rely heavily on kicks and knee-strikes, or that favor strength over form and speed. It generally doesn't have any purely defensive moves associated with it. I want to focus on kicks, but not be entirely unable to use fists if need be. |
