Awestralia was normally at least a mildly pleasant place to be for most people. Perhaps it was because of the fragrance of peach blossoms constantly in the air, perhaps it was because of the marvelous peach-based technology, or perhaps it was because most people only visited the places that didn't have bloodthirsty creatures that lived only to kill you. Whatever it was, most people couldn't help but admit that the island was just peachy keen. "What the hell do you mean, you sold the last one?" Jo Synderfell was not one of these people. In fact, her hatred of this island was only growing. Not only could she practically feel the pollen settling on her lungs through her bionics (Probably just paranoia on her part, but still), she had to deal with this island's obsession with peaches. She didn't give a flying fuck if a peach tree had saved their ancestors or whatever probably bullshit other story they had come up with, they should have grown a variety of things like normal people. Hell, that's what Greensland more tolerable, at least! Granted, she hadn't originally cared about the whole peach thing at first. She had been perfectly content to let their weird obsession lie. But then she had discovered that her fuel source, the glorious liquid known as Reverse Mountain Dew, had been touched by their peachy taint. Every store she went to to try and get her recharge didn't have nary a drop of the normal stuff. Instead, they had some horrific peach-flavored version instead. Now, Jo was a woman not known for her patience or understanding. In fact, in the short time that she had been stationed here, her fellow marines had started some (completely factual) rumors that she had broken a civilian's arm because he kept staring at her chest. Granted, they left out the part about how she had started hitting on him immediately afterwards and had even slept with him the next night, but even if that had been included, she would have more than earned her reputation as a pissy, cantankerous bitch. But what was happening now was just driving her over the edge. She had finally, finally managed to track down some little hole-in-the-wall place that actually sold her fuel source, and had just begun to look for that miraculous elixir when she had come across the "Sold Out" sign where it where it was supposed to be. This had led to a terse conversation with the clerk, who was currently trying his best to sink down behind the counter, despite the fact that he had a good half-foot of height on the woman. "I-i-i'm sorry, m'am. A guy just came in and bought the last one a little bit ago. Look, we'll be getting another shipment tomorrow. If you could just-" "I swear to God, if you even think the word wait, I will kneecap you right now." The clerk wisely shut up, giving the intimidating-looking woman a frantic nod. Jo would look at him for a moment before taking a deep breath in and out. The internal motion started a whirring sound inside of her, and for a fraction of a second, the sound of grinding gears could be heard as she momentarily held her breath. She would close her eyes as she repeated the action a second time, before speaking to the man. "Which way did he go?" |

Kappa was on a very important personal mission, to find a bunch of slimy rocks that supposedly granted the user power. Normally people would realize how stupid this sounds and probably just train or look for better weaponry, but Kappa was not the brightest tool in the shed when it came to these sort of things. It all began from him picking up a stupid book which teaches us that reading is just plain bad and that he should never do it. A while back he came across an ancient tome that first interested him in this quest called "The Legendary Slime Balls" This fictional work that depicted the adventures of a hero who fought evil while searching for the slime balls and eventually finding them all and becoming the greatest warrior of all time. Then after doing such he scattered the slime balls for future generations to find and left instructions on how to find them on the final page of the book in the form of riddles. All in all it was a wonderful work of fiction that many children found amusing, but the book used really old dates that made it seem it was a tale of the past and this stuck with Kappa. "This all happened a long time ago, maybe the slime balls are still at these places?" he thought. Any rational person would have swayed him from this course of logic, but Kappa wasn't the most trusting individual so he had no friends to stop him so he set out on his quest with the first riddle. Of course at first he had no idea what it was trying to say, but after pounding his head a few times its message started to make sense. " Within the seed of decent on an isle of peaches is the core of rebellion that was berried. At the stem of all of this is the fruit of your hard effort. The first Slime ball." This message meant to be a reference to Awestralia in a punny way finally made sense to him when he happened to hear people rave about Awestralias peaches so he set out at once. Which leads us to Kappa being here on Awestralia. The place seemed pleasant enough to him. The only strange part being how everyone on the dang island was eating or doing something related to peaches. He had nothing against the fruit personally, but he preferred to just eat meat and mead plain. He thought if so many people liked the fruit though he should give it a try and bought one from a local street vendor as he walked into town. The flavor however did not agree with him because as soon as it touched his tongue he felt like he was going to puke and instantly made a whole all the way through his body so he would not have to taste it any longer and the bite of peach simply landed on the ground all casual like as he kept walking like nothing happened. "Well that was disgusting!" he thought as he made his way towards a shop looking for something to wash that out with. He had intended to go straight into his search of the slime ball, but removing this taste was more important. He walked up to the counter and asked," Do you got anything to drink that doesn't taste like peaches." the clerk looked a little pissed at the comment, but pointed him to the back of the store where there was a single bottle of reverse mountain dew left. Kappa happily took the bottle and payed the man. As he left the shop he took a big swig and rinsed it around in his mouth before swallowing. "Now where the heck is the stem of this gosh darn island?" he said on accident meant to be just a thought. Luckily for him though there was a nice old lady on a bench outside of the shop. "You ju just head north and you should run into it in no time darlin" she said with a smile looking up at the imposing man. He gave her a nod as he took another big gulp of his drink and headed due North in hopes of proving the story true and gaining a bit of power. |

"H-h-he went that way, m'am. He's 10 feet tall, has a really thin mustache, and wasn't wearing a shirt. Please don't hurt me!" Jo smiled at the man's co-operation, and walked out in the same direction as the man pointed without saying a single word. The clerk breathed a sigh of relief, and then reached into his drawer to pull out a lottery ticket. He had managed to get out of that one completely unscathed. It must have been his lucky day! Meanwhile, the Marine was quickly able to spot Kappa, and was roughly shoving her way past the few people between her and him. A look of sheer fury was on her face as she closed in on her target, and she stared down the back of the man who had bought the sweet ambrosia that fueled her body. "Alright then, big guy!" the Marine would shout to the man's back, roughly 5 feet away from him. "Put down the Reverse Mountain Dew! It's being requisitioned for important Marine business! If you don't comply, I will personally fucking arrest you for obstruction of Justice!" If Kappa turned around, he would find himself confronted by a short woman. Half of her head and neck had very noticeable burns, and she looked absolutely pissed. While she was barely up to his waist, there was something about her that seemed... Dangerous. Maybe it was the way she carried itself, maybe it was the smoldering hate in her eyes, or maybe it was the trio of spears she carried on her back. But any way you laid it out, this woman seemed like a bundle of hate packed into a compact metal frame. Jo, for her part, was already expecting resistance from the giant of a man. After all, a guy that big almost certainly thought highly of himself, so he would definitely take offense to someone as short as her threatening him. In all honesty, she was quite looking forward to the man's inevitable attempt to attack her. |

Kappa was happy to have a heading on his journey and was refreshed for any hardships that were to follow. Sure all he knew was a general direction of the slime ball, but it was one step closer than he was before. As he made his way through the crowd he couldn't help but feel something ominous in the air. He didn't know what it was or really care for that matter so he simply continued his way through the crowd. He was considerably taller than most of the people here so he simply looked over them hoping to find something till he attention was caught. "Alright then, big guy!" He heard from behind him as he was walking through the crowd. He took a second to turn around and see who was talking to him since it was obvious he was the only big guy here. As he turned he saw a burnt up little girl who stood only a little over half his size and with three spears on her back. She seemed armed for war and a little worse for wear due to the burns and mechanical bits on her. He was tempted to ask what she wanted from him, but before he could she answered it for him. "Put down the Reverse Mountain Dew! It's being requisitioned for important Marine business! If you don't comply, I will personally fucking arrest you for obstruction of Justice!" Kappa could tell the little girl meant business, but really didn't care for that matter. He was questing and wasn't gonna let her stop him. At this time people were starting to back away from them both since she seemed pretty confrontational and he was just big. "You can have it for all I care. I got what I needed and if there isn't anything else you want I have places to be and I don't want to deal with marine bullshit." In order to save them both time and get back to his quest he tossed the half empty bottle at her and turned around not even bothering to see if she caught it or if she really did need something else out of him. His mind was focused and though crushing this arrogant brat would make him smile he could always come back later and do that. He just kept on walking and hoped that she would choke on some of his backwash. |

Kappa had made one glaring error when he threw the bottle at Jo. He hadn't put the cap back onto the bottle. So as the half-empty container soared through the air, it would pour out its contents, with a good bit of it landing right on the woman's cybernetics. The crowd would go very still for a moment. During this silence, Jo's temper, which normally had all the tensile strength of putty anyways, snapped. Jo would tap on the side of her chest real quick, and the normal sound of her bionics would quiet down, as if what was insides was running a lot smoother. Then, as she drew out her three spears and began her juggling, she would charge towards the man, stabbing towards his left knee with the spear in her left hand. The idiot had just decided that the best way to treat a Marine was to throw soda on them, and now he was going to pay the price. Jo couldn't have asked for a better excuse to work out some of her frustration. After all, this guy was big. He could definitely stand to loose a little bit more blood than the normal person, and her superiors would definitely understand if she had to get a little violent with him in order to subdue him. And surely the civilians would... Errr... Actually, who cared about what the civilians thought? They could stand to get a reminder about being respectful to those who carried out Justice, in all honesty. Yeah, that sounded good. Ought to satisfy her superiors fully. Kappa was content on going on his merry way but as he heard the crash of the bottle he knew this was not going to be fun as he turned slightly to see an angry wet marine tapping on her chest. He had no idea what that meant, but he started to turn around anyways cause this wasn't what he needed right now. "Now lets not do anything ha-" he said as she started to juggle spears. He got himself ready but didn't want to actively assault a marine. He didn't care honestly, but if there was a way to get out of this without getting chased by marines it would make it that much easier for him to escape with the Slime ball. But before he could plan any of that he had to stay alive. A spear came right at his left knee and he expanded a whole a bit before she made impact with his knee. He knew this would open up the whole he is a devil fruit user thing but he needs his knee in order to run away. As she shoved it through his knee he attempted to grab onto the spear that was in the air. He then had an idea. "Ahhh!! That hurt you know. I spilled a little juice on you, you spill a little pain on me can't I buy you a drink and be done with this?" he said trying to fake the sound of pain in his voice as he made the ahh. He knew this would not go well, but he had to try something and in a worst case scenario he had a devil fruit that worked pretty well against lunging and thrusting attacks. He stood at the ready looking down at her ready to react and strike against her if need be. "What a fucking waste of time", he thought to himself. Edited by Dude, Aug 24 2015, 10:49 AM.

Kappa had once again made a mistake when it came to Jo. Namely, she wasn't blind. She could see the hole forming before her spear even hit. Even more pointedly, she could see him grabbing at her spear. Without missing a beat, Jo would continue her juggle, the airborne spear already beginning to move out of easy grasping range due to the way she had started her juggle. Seriously, did he think he would really be able to grab her weapon and get away with it? Did he not realize that so many people before him had thought of that themselves, that Jo had specifically designed her style so that trying to do so was just begging to receive a hit from her. If he thought that shit was going to fly, he was seriously mistaken. You see, what the common idiot didn't take into account was that Jo's juggling forced them to have to focus on multiple things at once, an activity that most people were just plain bad at. In fact, the human brain was hard-wired to try to focus on things within a surprisingly limited frame of view, especially when they were trying to grab at something. If Kappa really wanted to grab that spear, he'd have to do it while Jo was still quite well-armed. Even better from the bloodthirsty Marine's point of view, he wasn't moving to get her speartip out of his kneehole. It was like he didn't understand that spears could do more than just stab. Oh well, it was going to be his loss. She would simply move her spear with a sudden jerk to the right, the bladed part of her tip almost certainly cutting through the side of his knee as she moved. Meanwhile, her right spear would take advantage of the larger man's open guard and focus upon the mid-air spear, going in for a diagonal slash across his chest. While it would certainly not be as effective as a sword slash, her spear would still be able to do damage if he let her hit him. What's more, thanks to his attempt to grab the spear, he had left himself wide open for that kind of attack, and would probably find himself hard-pressed to close his guard in time. "Oh sure, I'll go right ahead and show you some mercy," the cyborg would snarl at the giant man while she continued her attack. "After all, you only dumped the last thing of my fuel source on the island on me. It's not like I need it to breathe or anything after all! Oh, and you're trying to steal from a Marine to boot! Going to write you right the fuck up for this one, mark my words!" OOC

Kappa grasped the spear in the air and decided to go on the offensive. He was not too skilled at fighting with weapons, but fighting against them he had done many times before and spears where one he actually thought were quite limited. Sure they had long reach and a strong piercing point when wielded in two hands, but unlike a sword or most other typical melee weapons they only had a small striking point which made them quite limited in close range combat. As soon as he grasped the spear he pushed off with his left leg lifting it slightly and stepping in to shorten the distance between him and his prey. Unfortunately he had been to focused on the spear in the air to notice the motion the marine was making with that spear and got struck by her sudden jerk weakening his balance a bit but not greatly on its own since a sudden jerk of a large weapon has lessened efficiency. Of course Kappa didn't quite understand it in such fine detail, but he was happy he didn't have a blade digging into his leg though this was only a temporary solution and one that came with a follow up as he was punished for his grasping of the spear with his right hand and his lack of time to react he took a slash to his chest. This scratched him a bit and weakens his balance considering he had one leg with no knee getting pushed to the right and a follow up slash soon after he had to steady himself on his right leg nearly falling, but not giving in. With his left arm he sent a punch down upon the girl with both arms swinging and with his right arm jabbing the spear into the ground to the right of himself using it as a bit of a support in case she tried to jerk around inside his leg again. "What the hell you talking about fuel source? If it really was the last bit of fuel source then shouldn't you be shutting down or at least conserving energy? Accidents happen. And I am not stealing I am borrowing it because little children should not play with point objects. I really hate to discipline kids but i think you need it!." he said as he continued his swing at the girl. After this though he would most likely be done trying to reason with the girl. He didn't know what it was, but the government really did mess with people brains. Plus, the faster he beat her up the quicker he could get back to finding slime covered balls that grant ultimate power. |

Was this guy serious, or was he just an idiot? He thought a simple little punch was going to be enough to handle her, he was sorely mistaken. Jo hadn't met anyone yet who even came close to being able to match her in combat, much less some useless man. She was a Kuja, the daughter of one of the greatest warriors her tribe had ever known! There was no way that a man would be able to beat her. It didn't matter that she was handicapped by her bionics. It didn't matter that he looked more muscular than her. And it certainly didn't matter that he was nearly double her height. Jo was the superior gender, and the superior fighter. This giant? All he was was a man who desperately needed to learn his place. So Jo would let the man punch her. She even opened up her guard slightly and stuck out her chest so that he'd have an easier time of it. And so, without any interference at all, Jo let Kappa's massive fist hit her square in the chest. In a normal person, this would have been a massive mistake. But Jo was not a normal person. The cybernetics that made up Jo's chest were absolutely unyielding as Kappa hit them. There wasn't even a hint of give, and his ham-sized fist would simply bounce off while making a dull metallic ring. In all honesty, that had probably hurt like hell. Jo didn't envy him for that. She envied him even less for what was coming next. "Just what the hell do you think you're doing, huh?" The Marine would say with a slightly excited tone in her voice. A wide smile was coming to her face, and she would quickly lick her lips, as if she was anticipating the taste of something. "Fucking assaulting a Marine, are you? Man, I guess you leave me no choice. For the safety of these civilians, to maintain Justice.... I'll have to kill you." |

Kappa was surprised to see the girl open herself up to the punch but it made some sense because it was looking metallic. He hit it and his hand just stopped as a small thud was heard and he bit down on his lip to stop from screaming out as he pulled his hand back. She had some haughty retort about assaulting a marine. Like it mattered at this point what he had or had not done. She seemed to have all intentions of beating him up if he had stood still and taken it or not, but he might as well make the marines look bad either way. "I am defending myself against somebody who assaulted me without provocation. So come whatever may I have plenty of witnesses to the scar on my chest what scars do you bear as proof you tin can? Even if you say you are marine I see only a little girl with weapons, what proof have you shown me?" he said with a grimmace as he waved his hand about slightly still in pain. At the least he would not appear like the villain she claimed him to be and could continue to travel through this place and find his prize, the slime ball. Kappa still had her spear in his leg and unless she let it go he was not going to be getting away from this fight so he decided he either needed to make her release her grip or no longer able to fight. He increased the size of the whole upwards and downwards slightly allowing him to swing out his leg and kick at her legs. He was hoping that some part of this girl was still flesh and blood and was gonna find out where it was through trial and error as he lashed out with a bit of anger over his failed first attempt. Lastly he plucked the spear out of the ground and attempted to pierce it through her arm that had the spear in it by bringing it parallel to the ground and swinging his arm towards the center. He did not know how she would react, but he thought sudden action would create openings or at least catch her off guard.. Edited by Dude, Aug 31 2015, 07:23 PM.

Jo would take a couple of quick steps back as the man she was fighting suppressed the pain from punching her square in the chest. This cleanly withdrew the woman's spear from Kappa's kneehole, ending the "penetration." What's more, it brought both of them out of easy range of one another. He could certainly try to attack her if he really wanted to, but then he'd be playing directly into the strong suit of her preferred weapon. Also, chances were quite good that Kappa would not be nearly as skilled with a spear as she was, so attacking her with the weapon could be... problematic. She would keep a careful eye on him, an excited smile on her face the entire time. "Without provocation?" the woman would say, a slight giggle coming from her as she spoke. "I don't know what fight you've been watching, but you're the one who threw the first blow, idiot." If someone looked carefully, they would be able to see the sticky green stain on her bionics from when Kappa had thrown the soda on her. Whether any civilians agreed with the lengths Jo was willing to go to or not, the simple fact of the matter was that a lot of people had seen the bigger man throw the soda on a Marine. He might be trying to say otherwise, but between that and throwing his punch, he really had given the Marine all the reason she needed to attack. |
