Character Template [-----] Account Name: Rush Basic Character Information Name: Landry Quinn Nickname: Rush Age: 17 Gender: Male Race: Human Affiliation: Other Achievements: Got mad sick eyes, yo! Profession: Doctor [Primary] A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew. Doctors have the ability to create drugs and toxins that can buff allies or debuff enemies. Position: Surgeon Thief [Secondary] The Thief is a job closely related to the assassin. They both provide stealth capabilities, though a Thief gains lockpicking skills instead of poison knowledge, can generally know their way around the ways of barter and trade, and pickpocketing. Thieves don't have it hard to find 'underground info' in most cities, either. Physical Appearance Height: 5'6 Weight: 130 lbs Hair: Pink Eyes: Black w/ Red Pupils Clothing/Accessories: He wears a white shirt and dark red overalls that are decorated with paper charms. His hair's tied with these same red and white paper charms. General Appearance: Landry is short and light for his age, a tell-tell sign of a person who prefers to study rather than partake in strenuous physical labor. Despite this he retains enough physical robustness to make him mobile in a fight or to escape in a pinch. His skin is white, ankle-length strawberry pink hair, and deep black eyes with red pupils. An aspect of him birthed through personal modification. Spoiler: click to toggle The Character Personality: Landry can be a very childish creature, believing that conflicts in the world should be simple, that the powers at play should enact a "do or shut up" motto. He's impulsive and reactionary with a penchant for humbling the established authority he views as arrogant and selfish. For him, it's not about what's right, it's about what's right now. A trait that earned him his nickname. Based on this persona, he is unconcerned about being viewed as "the bad guy", merely seeing actions as a means to an end. Hometown: Bausyer Island, North Blue History: "What I warn you to remember; I'm a Doctor. My relationship with my profession is fundamental, but cracked, refracting confusingly like fragmented glass. It is the core of my life, the endgame of every move I make, and I pursue it with strategies painstakingly constructed of lab hours, notes, and every variation of competitive spirit and personal integrity. Ethical practice is the most desirable woman in the world and I am the most jealous lover, reflexively denying anyone else the slightest glimpse of her. I betray her routinely, spending hours and days stupor-deep in illegal surgeries and forbidden research, and then turn back to her holding out the lover's ultimate Möbius strip: But I only did it because I love you so much.. This is my job, and you don't go into it--or, if you do, you don't last--without some natural affinity for its priorities and demands. What I am telling you, before you begin my story, is this--two things: I'm good at my profession. And I have no ethics." Born as Landry Quinn, he came from a long line of doctors of Bausyer Island, and he was no different. Landry became a doctor not because he wanted to be, because he was groomed to be, because the competitive culture of the island willed it. The early years in training resulted in endless complicated physical exercises and intense mental study. It all felt like an embarrassing scripted daze, a trial by tedium he had to endure for some dislocated bureaucratic reason in order to earn his official position. He never thought about those years and cannot remember them with any clarity. He made no friends; to him the detachment from the whole process felt involuntary and inevitable, like the side effect of a sedative drug, but the other students read it as deliberate competitive superciliousness. A studied sneer at their solid competitive backgrounds and solid competitive ambitions. Possibly it was. He recently found a journal entry from his academy days in which he described his classmates as "a herd of mouth-breathing fucktard yokels who wade around in a miasma of cliché so thick you can practically smell the desperation and anger and abject failure on their noses." Even assuming he was having a bad day, he thought this showed a certain lack of respect for the island's culture. Not that it mattered in the end game. When he made apprenticeship, he already had new clothes--beautifully cut suits and robes in materials so fine they felt alive to the fingers, shirts with the subtlest of red or black pinstripes, rabbit-soft scarves--hanging in his wardrobe for almost a year. He loved the unspoken dress code. It was one of the things that first fascinated him about the Bausyer's culture--that and the private, functional, elliptical shorthand: replication, on hand knowledge, ethics. Contrary to what one might assume, he did rise to his current position via a seemingly quixotic quest for power. It was the medical knowledge he craved, these near-limitless textures like a Braille legible only to the initiated. He was like a thoroughbred; like a trapeze artist honed to a sizzling shine. He played for the highest stakes, and he was becoming an expert at his game. He knew what he did was cruel. Torturing, manipulating, testing the absolute limits of what did and did not work. Humans are feral and ruthless; this watching through calculating intent eyes and delicately adjusting one factor or another till a being's fundamental instinct for self-preservation cracks, is savagery in its more pure, most polished and most highly evolved form. What Bausyer taught him was that most people think, when they're young, that they're going to be the top of their chosen world, and that the climb up is only a formality. Without that faith, they might never start. Somewhere on the way they lift their eyes to the summit and know they aren't going to reach it; and happiness then is looking down and enjoying the view they've got, not envying the one they haven't. His life was not like that. He's gained and he's lost, but he saved what he could from the ruins, even if only a shred, and it was enough to push him through, to make him that much more cunning, that much more ruthless. It placed him on a path to a league very few dreamed of, it set his sights on even greater heights on his journey for knowledge and to hone his skills. And thus, as the saying goes, the future is unwritten history. Abilities and Possessions Combat: Rush, just like his personality, is an impulsive, reactionary fighter. If his temper gets the better of him, or if the situation calls for it, he'll be the one to strike back immediately. His primary method of engagement is ranged--it is his bread and butter as a fighter, given his stature and innate strength. Weaponry: --- Items: Medi-pouch: It houses medical supplies for everyday and emergency use. Beli: 500,000 SD Earned: 0 Stat Points: 32 Advancement Points: 0 SD Remaining: 0 Stats:

Welcome! - "Thieves will gain an extra 10% in Beli rewards in all Storylines they complete (for themselves). They also have access to stealth techniques." This portion only applies if Thief is your primary profession, please remove! - A minimalist set of descriptions, and an exceptionally well done history. That's the kind of thing I like to see. - Weapon needs to be noted as Starter Tier/First Tier in quality (the common material is Iron, please refer to stickied thread in Marketplace for further info!) - Free starter firearms/ranged weapon mechanisms are also limited to a single-shot before necessitating a reload. You'll find that semi-automatic, and clip/quasi-clip mechanisms become affordable as early as the completion of your first SL. It is possible, at the moment, to spend 250,000 for 1 additional shot before reload, or 500,000 for 2. - You get 3 General Traits, so you still have 1 more to pick out. - That technique is a bit advanced for a Rank 4, which by their nature are very basic. Inventors are capable of doing techs like this as rank 4, to a minor degree. Also, as a warning, without Marksman, your techniques involving the gun-like contraption will be capped at Rank 14. This is called lacking 'Martial Proficiency'. At Rank 4, the technique would also be Short ranged (beginner ranged combat, a few meters long). |

Only gripe is the 'to follow things at high speeds.' part of Mad Scientist. But so long as we have an understanding of, following things with eyes does not equate to quick reaction speed too (which will be governed by Accuracy), I think we are ok. Topic is flagged for approval. |
