Leo began to wrap his mind around what Kamina was saying- a fear poison, essentially. That was possible? The lion grumbled- he supposed if he was already poisoned holding his breath made little sense- so the breathe being released allowed it to slowly adjust before his pupils found the pair as Kamina took Rhea- who was struggling to calm, by the chin. The action caused her to freeze up as she stared into his eyes- and slowly her body relaxed as her breathing started to return to normal as she looked into her teachers eyes. Slowly, she nodded as she bit her lip and part of her wanted to try to kiss him- he was so calm, so wise and brave! .. But she also knew this was not the time.

She closed her eyes, and focused- as Leo watched her warily before it slowly leaned down and seemed to calm to a degree as it debated this 'Fear Toxin' quietly. ".. Poison. Makes fear. Make paranoid .. make us .. turn on one another?" He pondered as he looked to Kamina and then the wotan, realizing that it had nearly worked on his part- he was ready to abandon them. Was that this things plan then? Make them separate and pick them off one by one? If Kamina had not calmed them- it would have worked. Slowly the lion growled as it glanced around them slowly, "Still no sound .. no life .." The beast murmured as Rhea took a final breath and opened her eyes nodding slowly. "I-i'm ok now .. I'm sorry Sensei .." She murmured with a bit of an ashamed tone before she remembered what he had said- they needed to think.

Slowly she tapped her foot, before blinking slowly- ".. Sensei, are you not .. effected?" She pondered curiously as she watched him, she knew how endurant and the level of natural immunity her master had- it was half of her own. If it was effecting her to such a degree, why was it not effecting her Master? Was it mental fortitude as well? A frown crossed the wotan's face before she took a slow breath- "If it wanted to turn us against each other .. to separate us .. then it's probably to weak to take us all on at once, but it's confident that one on one- it can kill us. Right?" Her eyes glanced toward- suprisingly, Leo. Kamina may have been wiser- but Leo was a true predator. The beast man stiffened at suddenly being asked tactical questions- but slowly nodded.

"I did many times .. for humans that I hunted .. scare them. Make them separate. Intimidate. Alone- Weak. Easy Prey. Together- Strong. Threat. Could kill me." She slowly nodded and looked to Kamina with a slow breath, ".. Then we know what it's doing .. but .. if we can't trust our senses, even the Goa- .. Leo's, Haki doesn't work. What do we do? .." Even Leo looked .. concerned on his beast-like face, it was a good question. Fighting with one sense not functioning, or even with only one sense to fight with, was one thing- but to not be able to trust any sense at all- this entire conversation could simply not be happening. What did they trust? To talk? To strategize or fight? Yet still- it was dead silent, not a single sound but their own breathing and their voices. No bird cry's, no insects, no wind.

It was as if the entire area was dead.

Kamina nodded. In truth, he wasn't entirely certain how much of what he was saying was being heard by these two, and was even less certain of whether or not he would have to take up arms against at least one of them; the Gaoh, Leo, being at the top of his concerns, and his primary target.

He wasn't certain about many things. A fact that made even him uncomfortable.

"Fear toxin isn't exactly rare among creatures; it isn't the first time I've ran into something like this. A creature on an island I visited during my travels out from under the eyes of the world carried something similar, but it was neither airborne, nor effective against me," Kamina stated, shaking his head. Similarities did not make him an expert on this field; only experience, study, or both would do so, and he simply did not have the time to research.

"Right, Leo. A part of it is to instill paranoia against us; I'm fairly certain. Doesn't the action of making us feel fear not strike you as something you would do, as you have explained? Now that you're thinking, perhaps it occurs to you," Kamina stated, very much serious. Now they were cooking with gas; all members, and not just him, were beginning to gather their wits and make themselves even more useful in the endeavor of figuring things out. He had already said that they shouldn't rush blindly ahead, and now that seemed to actually mean something to them.

They just needed...more.

"No...I seem very much affected. Did you not hear my outburst from earlier? I do think, however, my own mental fortitude allows me to shake it off, though perhaps there is some other for of condition that I am not qualified to actually have knowledge of. Though...it has already been stated that both of you have better senses than I, and, in fact, you had just used yours to scan the area; which, by the way, was in large part a test on my part," he said casually, his lips drawn into a hard line. "Didn't you notice? The moment you began to truly lose your cool to any dangerous level was the moment I asked you to use your senses and other abilities to survey the area; an act that would most certainly cause this toxin to enter your systems at a much larger and much quicker rate; but I needed to know if it was really an idea worth venturing," Kamina stated, admitting that he had used them as pawns.

"...I figured I could reign you in, if that was the case, and it seemed to be so; I turned my senses off long ago," Kamina explained, not wishing for the to lose any confidence in him just yet. "That is...however not quite true. Even if it can defeat us all at once, it may be driven by instinct, using these abilities regardless, simply because this is how it knows how to hunt. Another, basic idea is the simple fact that the current plan is far easier than taking on three dangerous predators and risking losing much more than you would gain just to do nothing but show dominance; I'm fairly certain we are dealing with no fool, as you two should have observed already," he said calmly, not quite inspiring confidence. "And, if that is the case, we can use these things to our advantage, should we figure out enough about the situation at hand," Kamina said, his mind slightly unsure. He was gifted, certainly, but he didn't think so much that he could draw conclusions from nothing.

Kamina tapped his chin with his right index finger, withdrawing his hand from the wotan's, thinking. "There is...a slight chance that Brier was never actually here. There's even a chance that this dome we're in doesn't actually exist," he said, unsure about this line of thought. That was simply too much to hope for; too lucky for someone like him to actually see as the truth. But still, it would have been nice. "There is one thing this thing simply doesn't understand, though. One advantage it has given us," Kamina said, smirking; it was clear one of his one-liners was coming. "Fear...is necessary for evolution. The fear that one could be destroyed at any moment. Beyond anything, I think, if it is truly using a reuse, that this will be its undoing; human beings only grow stronger as circumstances make survival nigh impossible. And WE. WE are human," Kamina said, staring at Leo and nodding, clearly considering him among their kind.

Wotan, human, beast who had eaten the human human fruit.

It didn't matter. They were all people. All people who had souls that were human. Just...different walks of life, much like all of humanity.

"And, to answer your question; we gather information; I'm making a call," Kamina stated, removing a den den mushi from his gym bag.

He had received this private number not long ago. It was something he was given to call in case he had decided to leave; this time, however, it was far more important than a pleasure trip.

"...Gin. This is Kamina. No time to talk, so I'll make this short and sweet. I need information on any beast that makes use of hallucinatory toxins. And how to deal with them. I also need reports on any relevant information regarding Little Garden. I...need you to pool all of your time, effort, contacts, and anything else into this. Understand?"

Both of them glared, though Leo much more notably- as Kamina admited to using them as, essentially, bait. "What if the toxin had been deadly?!" Rhea huffed as she glared down at him- before Leo grumbled in obvious anger at being used, however- his words did make sense. It just pissed the beast-man off that he had been used for such a thing, it made him feel like ... like. An expirement. Suddenly a light bulb went off in the beasts head- an expirement. "Expirementing." He suddenly stated as his gaze slowly looked around- "It used poison to locate .. weakest mentally. It was only .. only .." The beast made an annoyed look- trying to find the word for a moment. "Testing. Testing us."

Rhea blinked and then slowly narrowed- it made sense, but that also .. was scarey in its own right. It meant that the poison was not even its main form of offense, just stage one. She rubbed her temples as she listened to Kamina and debated what Leo had stated as well, "Ok. It uses poison to make us turn on one another, separate, or all the above. But it isn't the main goal- the main goal is to find out the weakest .. predators do that all the time. So it makes sense. This .. things way of doing it is just much more effeicent." She murmured- and as Kamina admited, that none of it could be real, a chill went down her spine- the fear of not knowing was was real .. she wasn't sure there was anything more terrifying then that.

She caught herself however- the last time she let fear take her over she had nearly caused them to clash. Leo glared at Kamina has he called him human- "Human. Bait." He stated a bit bitterly, obviously intending to hold that over Kamina's head for quite a while as he glowered before grunting and shaking his head and .. sighing, a very human response. However Leo did not seem to react to him doing it, "Fear is instinct. Not bad. Natural. Makes strong. Made me stronger when it chased me. Haki stronger." The beast agreed with the beast king, before he grumbled at the idea that everything was fake- ".. If hunter never here, toxin very .. complex. He spoke to you." The beast added wisely- suggesting that it doubted a simple organic-based toxin could control senses to that degree.

As the man pulled out a Den-Den, somehow- it worked. In fact quite well, as they all heard Gin's response loud and clear. "Give me five minutes." No hesitations or questions, and Rhea blinked at the voice, "Who's that, Sensei ..?" She murmured with a furrowed brow, before Leo grumbled and slowly moved closer- sitting with a grunt as he tried to -not- use his nose or Haki, a difficult setting for the first, the second was far easier. He did not rely on it like some users. Exactly five minutes later, the response came through. "There. It's all sent through- it's going to take a while .. especially for the first part. Tell me what the hell is going on later. The audio file will play .. now." As soon as he said now, the Den-Den suddenly began to speak in a mechanical voice.

It gave an audio listing in the form of three options, "Blues", "Grand Line", "Calm Belt", or "New World". Awaiting Kamina's instructions beyond that- obviously vocally. That .. was when the grinding noise began to fill the air once more, and both Leo and Rhea stiffed- "What -is- that?!" Rhea hissed softly in a mixture of fear, and now anger- and confusion as it filled the dome. Dull, echoing- like grinding a coin along a metal drum as Leo pinned his ears back in annoyance. "Sound like, metal on metal." The beast stated with a grumble as his eyes slowly traveled along the area- before the cries for help, returned. The same girl- and this time it sounded much more pressured, as if something was getting closer to her- the grinding noise getitng louder, and as it did; the paniced screams more intense.

For the first time during this entire disaster, Kamina actually laughed. It was rich, hearty, and full of amusement as he smiled at the wotan, offering her a shake of the head an a assuring nod. "I hate the use of 'what-ifs'; I like certainty. More than that, I was the one that brought this group together, and made it even possible, knowing how dangerous this was; even if I was acting out of pure selfishness, I could hardly risk losing you too. Don't you agree?" Kamina said, already building on his logic; that's what he was good at. When he talked, coins flowed, wealth was made, and conquests were won. It was his gift, above many of the other things he had. "But let's say that, indeed, the toxin was indeed deadly; we would be dead. If you recall, we had already used our sensory abilities--in excess--earlier on in this little encounter. If indeed the toxins could have killed us, we wouldn't be standing right now," Kamina said, smiling. It hardly mattered now. Every moment they spend here, in the same enclosed spot, probably made the possible effects of the theoretical poison even stronger, so they wouldn't have needed his help to be killed by the stuff anyway.

Kamina let out yet another laugh, this time even more loud and booming.

"Come now, Leo; you're the closest thing I've ever had to a son, boy. And you do me proud; even now you are taking to your new powers handedly, and have made quite good use of your creativity," Kamina stated, motioning a hand towards both the lion's newly created form and recalling his opinion on the what was being discussed. Kamina had lost his unborn child and wife long ago, a subject touched upon briefly with the marine from earlier. He truly meant it, as the Gaoh--no, Leo--helped fill the void of parenthood that he was unable to truly fulfill otherwise, without fear of losing his child. Leo was no pet for him, no tool of war; he was a child that he would not lose. It was good that they were actually having constructive thoughts, now, as a group that was unorganized, uncooperative, and unthinking died more quickly than those who rushed off to get the jobs done as quick as possible, regardless of any potential risks. "...And you said something interesting. ...Yes. Testing. That makes perfect sense. But...I think things will only truly be clear regarding its intentions is why it is here, and what it wishes to do with us."

Kamina stroked his goatee, shaking his head.

"Astute observation, Leo, though i don't honestly know much about poisons beyond what I have experienced, and the fact that they can really ruin someone's day. I'll try to take your opinion on it, for now, until we are proven otherwise; as you should do for the hypothesis I came up with, and any of those in the future. Though, by all means, prove me wrong if you can."

Which, by the way, was changing. His hair was growing shorter, its gold fading into white, and his form returning to normal. "...That...was Gin. He's a valuable ally, and a potential prospect. His information is useful in a situation such as this," Kamina stated, turning his head. "We've heard this before. There's nothing we can do for them, sadly, save get ourselves killed as well trying to deal with something we don't yet understand. I know this may sound harsh, but you have to understand that the ends will justify the means, and save countless more lives; I can only fear what will happen to those who normall travel here and run into that thing, only to find themselves horribly outmatched; it will be a slaughter. Which is why we must end it here," Kamina said sternly, his eyes hardening. Though he did not wish Gin to become like this, he knew, from his years of experience, that if the man sought to do anything at all with his little organization, he would need the ability to command and control at this level.

Or he would be lost, crashing on the rocks like a ship out at sea with no navigator.

"Calm, Rhea. Leo."

Kamina had taken a few moments to consider where to search. Granted, it was quite possible that he could have searched under all the fields, or even more than one, but with the warning the marine gave him, that would likely take far more time than any of them realistically had to spare. And that, he thought, was not something that he could allow.

He did recall, however, Brier distinctly saying that the creature was possibly one from the New World, even if that wasn't necessarily likely, given that they were hardly in that area, and the odds of something from there being the culprit was small.

But then, if it was some sort of machine, or beast outfitted with machinery to increase its abilities, or even an evolution of the beast, picking any area was genuinely a lone shot.

So, he decided to wing it.

"...Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a Lion by its toes. If he hollers, let him go. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe..." Kamina chanted somewhat to himself, focusing on his den den mushi closely. It wasn't exactly the best of ways to go about something as serious as this, but perhaps adding humor into the equation would do quite a bit for the tensions of his allies.

He, however, did not believe this was a game.

"...Give me information on the New World species."

Both, glowered a bit- but calmed with Kamina's logic- Leo a bit begrudgingly as he drug his claws slowly through the dirt- considering the words that Kamina had spoken earlier; fear allowed evolution. Evolution. The Beast-man's eyes narrowed as he raised his hands and began .. experimenting- the beast man's muscles twisting, altering, obviously trying to control the new found powers as they listened to the Den-Den. Rhea made a face when it was mentioned this "Gin" was a prospect- after all in a few minutes, he had been more useful then she had been so far in her eyes- she wanted to pout, but the information that began to spill forth was far more important and she sighed- listening as Kamina played a 'game' (she hoped he wasn't serious) to choose.

When he spoke New World, the Den-Den clicked a few times before replying simply: "Three-hundred and fifty-two species located. Please specify three key words, to narrow the search. Involving physical traits, vocal traits, or other unique abilities." Ginjo it seemed, had done more then just check his contacts for that many in such a short amount of time. As the Den-Den waited, Leo glowered at the air as did Rhea- they knew Kamina's words about helping the girl was right, but it didn't make the next sounds to come forth any easier. The crunch of a skull, and the chilling silence that once more filled the night .. and then the grinding began, all over again. Leo's ears flipped suddenly as he made a connection.

".. Hook." he stated, looking toward Kamina slowly with a narrowed gaze. "Sound. Like Metal Hook, dragging on metal. Sound my claws made on metal when injured, limping- dragging leg. Sound like claw .. one. Big. Dragging on metal." He explained with a furrowed brow- so the beast .. possibly, had one one singular massive claw? Rhea blinked and made a comment, "Didn't Brier .. or .. not-Brier, have a singular big gash across his chest?" She asked quietly with a frown- she had only seen it for a few moments before Kamina had taken over- but she could have sworn it was exactly that. It wasn't much- but it was a beginning, and all the while the grinding continued to grow .. and this time it faded, as if the source was leaving. Before it ended outright.

The sound of crunching bones made the beast king's blood run cold. He was tired, and weary, and frankly irritated by his clear inability to save those that he had brought with him.

He cursed himself mentally, hoping his inner thoughts would only be his own.

He paused, his eyes focusing on the the large snail closely, his fast twisting into a wry smirk.

It seemed he had gotten far more than he bargained for, and, unlike the usual pleasant surprises that ended this way, much like just how powerful this new enemy was, it was quite a bit unpleasant.

Though perhaps that was an understatement.

For now, he had to come up with three words that would him a clear picture of what he was dealing with; and, more importantly, would eventually be his greatest challenge.

And then his two allies perked up, thankfully giving him some aid.

He stroked his goatee.

"Damn, a single claw you say? A...hook? That doesn't make much sense, honestly," Kamina stated, trying to decide if this search was a complete waste of his time or not; every single thing pointed towards machines. Or something with machine parts; was it possible to successfully outfit a dinosaur or some other beast with machinery? While he was very aware that it was possible in practice, it was much harder to find a beast that would accept such a thing--and be this strong--as well as being compatible enough that it didn't simply die from the foreign objects; its body rejecting it.

"Hook, poison, natural armor," Kamina said casually, shaking his head somewhat. He wasn't entirely certain if this line of thinking would actually fit, and, more importantly, if the words he chosen were based off of a good opinion or a man's urge to find answers in anything he could.

He took a look around, trying to make sure that his companies were still there; his eyes set on them both, for fear that they would vanish, just like his ex marine friend. Whether real or fake, losing him was something that shook Kamina, as he was not a man that accepted those who worked with him easily, even if it was only an illusion.

He had once, day after day, bore nothing but hate for himself for being far too weak to protect those close to him. And, despite how much stronger he had become, he still believed himself just as weak and incapable; the difference was the fact that, now, he substituted that hate for tremendous work effort, in effort to make sure it didn't happen again.

And, whether real or fake, he HAD lost both of his secretaries, as well as his recent friend.

His biggest fear was losing people. And, as that thought crossed his mind, he truly wondered whether or not he was really so resistant to his theoretical poison. What if...what if his greatest fear was coming to life before him, and this was all a ruse to weaken his will; to break him; to keep him from truly being a threat.

"Alright, you bastard; let's play ball."

Leo shrugged as Kamina mentioned it didn't make much sense- "Only what it .. sounds like." He responded simply before the beast man frown, "May be smart enough .. use hands, use a weapon? Not sure." Rhea noted the beast-man's slow but steady increase in vocal ability, and then blinked at Kamina's chosen words- and scratching her cheek slowly as the Den Den seemed to go through the files- before it's response filled the air. "Ten partial matches - One Term match located. No complete matches found." It then gave a list and description of each animal- each one sounding more terrifying then the last but none matching beyond the idea of beasts that had poison within their weaponry that utilized fear toxin, it seemed to be pointless- before a light went off in Leo's mind once more.

"Fast. Creature fast. Fast like bullet. Poison. Smart. Smart like human. Maybe smarter." He commented as he looked toward Kamina, and curiously looked at the Den-Den before stating curiously, "Intelligence. Speed. Poison." This time- the clicks began from the Den Den and ended much quicker. The next series of words that filled the air was far more detailed and had much better connections .. and both made the Beast-Man and Rhea pale slowly, because both sounded as if they were anything but what they wanted to encounter. The combination of the abilities listed, though neither fit the "Hook" idea- though the first did a bit, they were both anything but "pleasant sounding" as the Den-Den rang off the details for both, the dead silence once more filling the air. Rhea especially looked wary at the sound of the first one, and visibly scratched at the side of her cheek and looked to the side nervously.

"One Partial Match Found - Two Matches. One complete Match Found. Partial Match - Sepa, A rare solitary predator and scavenger. Massive centipede and crab creature, produces an air born toxin to induce fear, schizophrenia, psychotic episode, and heighten violence- long term exposure can cause cannibalistic tenancies and insanity. Armored Exoskeleton, razorlike limbs, acidic venom from tail and jaws, Human-level intellect- borrows underneath villages and causes them to slaughter one another- feasting on the corpses. Fighting only when as a last resort. Large hook-like limbs. Two large claws. Blade-like Tail." It then clicked a few times, and listed the details of the next complete match.

"Complete Match - Wendijo, A rare solitary predator. Primate and Feline in appearance with white and grey fur. Cannibalistic, awakens only once every hundred years to feed, capable of moving at near-unmatched speed. Natural weapons of claws, and fangs. Inhumanly strong, but main power is its intellect and pheromone control to induce irrational fear and Schizophrenia. Above-Human intellectual capability. Capable of mimicking any sounds they hear." It then clicked a few more times and the next request came forth; "Please give three new terms to search, or state the name of the species you wish further details on, for habitat, weaknesses, and lore."

Rhea and Leo both frowned and looked toward Kamina. "Hook Legs. Not attacking us, trying to make us fight each other. Centipede." Leo's vote on which it was, was obvious- Rhea however cleared her throat, "T-the Wendijo can .. mimic noises right? What if it was just mimicking the noises of everything to try and draw us out and separate us?" Leo glanced at her, but didn't comment- allowing the final vote to go to Kamina, though Rhea's vote almost seemed to come more from fear of the Centipede-esc creature than anything else. Ether way, it cam down to Kamina's own opinion and thoughts on the matter to decide on the final details and vote for the Den-Den, the deafening silence ringing around them.

Kamina thought about that for a moment.

He was thoroughly pleased that Leo had managed to string the right words together this time, and even more pleased that the words he decided upon had vastly narrowed down the amount of options they had to choose from in regards to the search. It was undoubtedly the beast's area, as Kamina was hardly versed in the knowledge of animals--or even wildlife--and required others to fill in the blanks that he was missing; sort of why he had hired the ex marine in the first place.

"Hmm. Interesting. Both of these beasts sound fairly nasty, yea? Either could be a real problem, but moreso if we prepare for the wrong one," Kamina said, rubbing his chin carefully. He wasn't sure, exactly, what he would do next, or even what he would decide. It seemed that both of his allies had differing opinions on the matter, and he was the deciding vote, despite, admittedly, being the one most out of his depth in this circumstance; people? He could deal with people. He was very good at that. He knew most of what people could use, and what was available to them; they were almost always predictable.

Animals were a different story; he didn't exactly have a collection of information on them even partially comparable to that which he had on humans, and that would effect his ability to lead his team.

So maybe he wouldn't lead; when situations were unfavorable for one person to take the reins, it was only logically to pass them to someone more competent. And, thus far, the one who had shown the most promise--and would logically have more knowledge in regards to animals--predators in particular--to deal with the threat that was currently beyond the scope of the beast king's ability.

Kamina smiled, before shaking his head, his eyes focused on the female within the group with clear apology in his eyes. "Sorry, Rhea, but I have to go ahead and take Leo's advice on this one; he's the one who is the expert among us. We'll take his methodology on this until he proves himself incapable; I won't be much help in this situation, at least when it comes to figuring this beast out," Kamina said, before turning his eyes on Leo.

"You'll be taking point, Leo; meaning, you'll be leading. Me and Rhea will support you as best we can, so if you need anything, try and convey it," Kamina said, almost grudingly. Truthfully, he did not like forcing the beast to try and replicate the use of the common tongue in order to communicate, as he could see the clear strain in his eyes with each word uttered. Still, it was necessary, and, more than anything, he found that it would help them to coordinate themselves for any future encounters. "...Obviously, it sort of makes sense, as the Sepa could have just burrowed in, and then took Brier from bellow. Makes sense, right? So maybe we should be looking for holes...but that's up to you," Kamina said, his words both clear and certain.

He really had made the concious decision to place the leadership role on some beast that had tried to kill them not long ago; he hoped he wasn't making a poor decision.

Kamina stroked his chin for a second, raising a brow as he looked on at the other two. "I don't...feel very canablistic, though. But I guess that may have to do with the fact that we aren't actually all the same species. ...Maybe."

Both Leo and the Wotan seemed confused by the words of the Beast King, as the Lion-Man[/url slowly narrowed his gaze. "Not .. sure if right choice." He stated firmly as the Wotan made a face that said she agreed, slowly rubbing the back of her neck as she eyed the Lion-Man warily as they had not really been 'allies' long. However as Kamina continued, slowly Leo lowered his eyes and began to think- "If Sepa, borrows. May not leave tunnels or holes- may slide into earth, like normal centipede." He pondered before he slowly rose to his full height, moving forward past the pair and looking at the spot that Brier had been.

"But soil. Dirt. It would be loose, used." He murmured as he leaned down and slowly drug his claws through the dirt- noting that it was still compacted and grunted as he quietly debated to himself before his gaze focused on the Wotan- "Before, smelled the scent trail. Scent trail used to mark territory .. may be poison, but not likely." Slowly he motioned to the area around them- "Can you smell here?" The Wotan's eyes narrowed- thinking the lion man was trying to get her to poison herself even further, before she noted he had given up holding his breath. He was breathing normally, as if he was confident he could fend off the poison now that he knew what it was.

She was not. But she couldn't admit that, not in front of Kamina. Frowning- she took in a breath from her nose as the receptors in her nose began to click and she slowly nodded her head. "It's all under and around us now .. but stronger bellow .." The lion man slowly nodded, "Then it dug .. barrier goes under, but if it snapped my cage that easily- it could borrow through barrier. Maybe that is grinding sound we were hearing." He explained in thought before he tapped his foot- "Need attack to destroy ground all at once. Drive it out." He murmured as the Wotan stepped forward, "Wait a second! If Brier got taken that will kill him too!" The beast shrugged, "Him, or us." He stated coldly- unlike with Kamina, Brier had no fond memories.

The man had been his keeper for a time, nothing more. If anything he had an innate dislike for the man- combined with his animal instinct it was clear he had no interest in sparing the man if it meant he got out alive. Survival of the Fittest. Slowly he leaned forward, ".. Kamina .." he spoke for the first time using the man's name, "What is your strongest attack and form .. speed not needed. Just pure destruction." He stated as he slowly rose to his full height from the earth. "I will mimic. Copy. Use along with. Rhea .. can use her strongest. Combine them from the air. Destroy entire ground all at once." However, he knew that Kamina- was the man's friend so he added a clarification at the end. "Earth will take the primary blow. Not likely to even kill beast, if Brier is still alive, he will likely survive. We are exposing the beast. Not killing it with this."

Kamina nodded slowly, processing the information that Leo was telling him. "...Admittedly, I don't really know how normal centipede burrow, so perhaps you are right." The beast king had turned to look at the lion man closely, trying to make sense of what he was doing. In the end, it was clear he was checking the dirt in question; smart. This got the beast king thinking, and he began to wonder whether or not they were really dealing with the centipede--this Sepa--and tried to think about what exactly was plaguing them. Still, he figured that, regardless, Leo would be able to pull it together and figure out just what it was that threatened the. Hopefully, he'd be able to adjust, if, in fact, he happened to be wrong in this particular instance.

Kamina raised a brow. Despite himself, he realized that it was strange that the dirt wasn't disturbed, and even stranger that none of them had even caught a slight glimpse of it. He narrowed his eyes, watching the lion gaze at the female wotan. She didn't much trust him, as Kamina as continually reminded, and, more than that, he realized just how much that would become an issue. Potentially, at least. He watched the reaction from her in relative silent, sighing in relief as she seemed to resign herself to do it, despite, most likely, feeling as though it was a terrible decision. What had made her change her mind, the beast king wasn't entirely certain, but perhaps it was because the lion man was hardly holding his breath at the moment.

Interesting. Here Leo was, devising a plan to deal with the threat. A preemptive attack wouldn't be remiss, and, more than that, it would allow them to, indeed, likely draw out that monster that was bellow. It was a good plan, and one that Kamina had silently considered himself, though there was, indeed, the issue of Brier getting hurt doing all of this. The funniest part of this situation, though, was the fact that the lion man had decided that it was necessary to console anyone, much less the beast king himself. And, to that, Kamina chuckled, shaking his head slowly. "Don't be foolish, boy; why do you think you have to convince a man who had risked your life for the greater good that such a man would be safe? That's actually very funny," Kamina stated casually, a smirk appearing on his face.

He cleared his throat, shaking his head again. "Leo is correct; it is either him or us. But to make matters much more serious, it is not only us who could lose their lives. Obviously...we have to count the prospects who are bound to arrive, as well as anyone else who travels this route in attempts to move on. We are the first--and hopefully last--line of defense," Kamina's lips turned into a bright smile as he shook his head. "...And I know Brier. He is a strong man. He's lived his life for the sake of justice, and the greater good. He would much rather give him life to stop any further casualties; and, more than once, he's told me that he's lived long and well enough that he would take his death with peace," he stated tensely, shaking his head slowly as he allowed his own words to ease the decision he was going to make; he didn't think he was wrong in the slightest, here.

The beast king's hair was already growing longer, thicker, spikier, turning him back into the form he once was. His muscles tightened, and his body became all the more powerful as he began to change. It didn't take long before he became the golden boy he once was. "Indeed...this is the form that is most physically strong," Kamina said casually, his voice becoming deeper and more rugged in this state. "...I am aware. I know the real use of this combination attack is to destroy the earth bellow. I do not worry for Brier, obviously. He is strong in his own right, and if he does not survive, he has died a warriors death...and that is simply the best way to go," Kamina stated, smiling a cool smile. It was funny; not long ago, he did not consider himself a warrior. How times change... "...That attack I hit you with from earlier. The Shine Kamihameha. That is my strongest. Though I doubt you will be able to mimic its grandmastery abilities, I doubt such a thing would even be needed for what we are going to do," Kamina said firmly, before looking at Rhea, and then back at Leo.

"I am ready when you are; just give the word and tell me where to aim in particular."

Leo grunted softly as he glanced at Kamina at the man's question of him needing to 'convince' him. "Because I don't want you to hesitate because it may kill him." He answered simply- even if Kamina said he wouldn't- Leo had .. difficulty believing such. Instead the lion let the information be and instead slowly sank down and watched as Kamina began to sprout fur once more, his eyes paying keen attention to the way his body contorted- his muscles expanded and then condensed on themselves in layers as the physical body was amplified greatly. Slowly, the lion raised a clawed hand and seemed to debate his own body before taking a slow- deep breath and closing his eyes.

The beast-man focused his control, as he began to grow and change, musculature altering and growing as his muscles flexed and strained before his eyes slowly hardened as they opened- and a keen energy began to radiate off the beast-man. An almost killer instinct pouring off the beast as his muscles flexed to their maximum size- the transformation complete he stood now as tall as Kamina was, but instead in the form of a massive bipedal lion that let out a slow growl before clenching both hands as he debated the man's words. ".. My beam .. strong as your wave. I shall use that." He murmured in thought before raising his hand before glancing toward Rhea. "Are you, ready?" He asked warily- making the Fishwoman blink a bit at the steady and rapid increase in the beast-man's verbal communication.

He made sure both of them were ready, Rhea whom had been listening to Kamina- trying to find a way to argue not to do this. But she was finding now way to make it possible. His logic was undenyable no matter how much she wished otherwise- the man seemed like a good person, and a strong one at that. The combination was so rare she hated the thought of him just being killed off for their own survival- but there were to many other students coming in. If this .. centipede (she shuddered a bit at the thought) attacked them without any of their own knowledge, they would die even if they were stronger than she was. Slowly she sighed, and nodded to the Lion whom grunted and glanced up before leaping into the air.

As he shot into the air the beast man took a deep breath, before releasing a roar that shook the entire dome. "BURNING-" He started off the name of the technique, Rhea shooting into the air after him with a blink of surprise before a slight smile formed on her lips. He was learning from what she and Kamina had done, was he thinking the name was necessary for the attack? Or was the beast-man revealing a bit more of his personality to be more like his "father" then he cared to admit? She shook her head at the thought as the air around her warped before she punched forward as the massive dragon-shaped shockwave blasted down wrapped around the massive heat-beam. "-DRAGON-"

It left Kamina to use his own to combine it with the attack- the combination would truly, be devastating.

Kamina's lips curled into a smirk. "Hesitation leads to important people getting killed. I am not weak or unaware of the situation at hand," Kamina stated sternly, clearly wanting to make this fact absolute. "We are friends, yes, but I understand the degree to which that has to go. I have seen enough mass death to understand that the life of one is nothing to that of many. Your worry is unwarranted," Kamina said, a very final tone stuck at the end of his lecture. Leo's beliefs may have thought that friendships were Kamina's thing. That he was some soft fool who did not know when to let go. But that was hardly the case. He was intelligent and thoughtful, and--while he was jovial and joking, often helping those in need--he was also capable of being cold an calculating when the need arose. He was also capable of bending the rules, sacrificing 'assets', and pulling off incredibly cruel tasks if the need arose. The truth was, out of him and his brother, he was the one who could be the most terrible, even if he wasn't known for it; Daisuke's tactics to do that very thing came from the beast king, from all that time they spent running their little gang on Rukon.

Daisuke was merely a product of what Kamina needed at the time. And he hadn't even become nearly as cruel.

"Yes...I think that would be far easier. Your beam was incredibly dangerous, and would likely be capable of doing more damage than even what me and Rhea are capable of individually," Kamina said, before yawning, and looking around, trying to decide on exactly which move he would use. The addition of the beam changed things, and, in fact, it was more likely that using something to better mesh with it would benefit them more than simply launching an attack that, while it held the effects of Grandmastery, was fairly basic in its overall scope. He was considering using the technique he had used earlier to send the lion man's attack back at him earlier, as that particular attack--contrary to popular belief--was meant to be used in conjunction with element attacks--such as those used by his logia allies--in order to combine the beast king's own tremendous strength with the elemental power and effect of his allies. In fact, Kamina thought, if all three of them combined their abilities, the result would likely even send the strongest of individuals--and perhaps even several--reeling, afflicted with both raw force and the crippling effects they all had.

An interesting thought.

And, as Kamina saw both the lion man and his prospect leap into the air--the lion man opting to actually begin the name of their soon-to-be combination technique, much to Kamina's amusement--he made a decision. Leaping up himself, he instead moved towards the focal point of the attack, striking it with extreme force and skill; his attack absorbing the other two, yet in the end keeping the attacks basic shape, and forming three 'claws' at the front of it, throwing it forward. "-Destroyer!" Kamina boomed, being the facilitator behind the incredibly powerful attack. For a moment--while Kamina did not think this would kill the thing they were trying so hard to draw out--he was fairly certain that if it got truly unlucky, it would find itself on the bad end of an attack that would leave it feeling incredibly hurt.

This wasn't the time to pull punches, even if Brier was within the path of the attack. This was the time to give whatever was down there hell.

As he fell, Kamina began to consider whether or not this would backfire. What if they were wrong? What if this was just yet another trap? He didn't like to think of 'what ifs', as previously stated, but he had to think of the possibilities. As he looked down at the other two--who had jumped first, and had already been on their way down well before Kamina had leaped himself--he began to decide that, indeed, he had likely made the right decision when it came to dealing with them thus far. He had seen that not only did he require help from the wotan, but also that he had chosen correctly to give the lion man the fruit that changed the entire situation.

And, more than that, despite Leo seeming unsure of taking the mantle of leader, he was certainly doing well.

So far, at least. Only time would tell if he was right about what they were hunting. Just like only time would tell if they even vaguely knew what it was that was hunting them, as anything could happen, and the method from which they had derived the current possibilities were...prone to lack what this creature was.

After all, it didn't make much sense for it to even BE here, which was an anomaly in and of itself.

The explosive force of the blast, the heat, steam, air pressure and sheer kinetic force combined by Kamina into a massive blast of pure destructive energy that slammed into the earth with such force that the massive dome itself rumbled as not even dust filled the air, the intense head and power pulverizing anything in its path- revealing a scorched bowl of titanium-wood that was the barriers underside resided within. As Leo and Rhea landed with two dull thuds, the beast- man stared in confusion. There was nothing within. No bodies, no dirt, or tree's, bushes or grass- the attack had wiped the entire area the dome covered from existence.

There was not even a dent or small hole for a poison to get through. Slowly the beast man just stood there in confusion- ".. Makes no sense." He finally stated as he scratched at his head- then the poison was just so strong it had a residual effect on them and it took this long for it to fade? But what of Brier? Had literally everything been nothing but a figment of their imagination- all of their imaginations? Slowly the beast man growled and raised a hand to his head, his massive frame slowly shrinking down into his "normal" hybrid form as he rubbed his muzzle like face and tried to understand what was going on.

Giving a humph, Rhea seemed rather glad the beast-man had been wrong as she glanced around slowly and frowned. ".. But if Brier wasn't here, how is the barrier real ..?" She murmured in confusion, trying to remember. "Didn't .. he land inside, and trigger it to form around us?" Her frown deepened, the feeling of fear and panic was gone- and replaced with confusion as logic seemed to suddenly have no place here. Again- the sound of grinding metal filled the air however as the beast man's fur stood on end a bit and his golden eyes glanced around warily. ".. I do not know." He finally clarified simply, ".. Anything .. everything .. could be wrong. Was grasping at an idea that some of it could be real. But .."

Rubbing his face he grumbled and looked toward Kamina. ".. If our senses said .. the wall was real. Would that mean it would be real to us, trying to push through it? Touch it?" He motioned toward the titanium wood they stood on- which if it was not there logically they would just pass through. But Leo did not know how the senses worked, he was intelligent- but he had never sat down and learned about the senses. What he knew he knew from experience, and he had never experienced anything like this .. the inability to trust anything you were doing, unable to be sure if anything was even true, accurate.

As Kamina landed, his eyes flicked quickly around the area, taking in the sheer destruction they had caused. It was interesting, actually, to see that this was the sort of force they could all muster when they worked together, but even more interesting to see that there was nothing too see in particular, which made the beast king ponder what exactly was going on. What exactly WAS going on? It was fairly obvious that nothing had come through the metal lining bellow them. And Kamina did not think, in particular, that his senses were so fucked that he couldn't tell he was standing on a rather strong material; after all, materials were his thing, and he had spent enough time around them to just know when it was the real deal. He still wasn't certain. But perhaps he was looking at this entire situation in a way that was far too...calculating. Perhaps certainty was the last thing he needed to focus on, and the better option was to simply act; god knows they hadn't made much progress sitting around in this barrier, discussing what-ifs, and scaring themselves shitless of said what-ifs as they continued on.

He tilted his head, his gaze passing between the other two. They were caged just as much as he was, and seemed much more at a loss. Panic was starting to set in just a little bit more. And it was at that point that Kamina realized that he had asked both of them to move outside of their comfort zones in order to better plan. Perhaps, instead of thinking like some sort of tactician in a situation where there was no real information to properly draw upon, he should have really been more like Leo before he had transformed. Perhaps he had asked far too much of the beast. Perhaps he had led the beast incorrectly. Perhaps he needed the beast in him, rather than the man. And, at that point, Kamina had an idea. At that moment, his form shifted. He became larger, his body taking on its more ape appearance. He was growing at an advanced rate, the gold fur covering his body, and shaping into his familiar fauhawk on his head. His eyes became a deep gold, and he, for the most part, felt fairly good about himself. It was the form he had taken on earlier, when against Leo, and, funny enough, it was the form that made him feel the most at home in this place.

He turned his eyes on the other two.

And, before anyone knew anything, he spoke, his voice deep and rumbling.

"You...are," his words were a little bit more stressed. It was always strange communicating using the vocal cords of this beast, mostly due to his size, and the fact that, while monkeys were very much similar to humans, speech was not natural to the one he became, no matter how augmented it was. For the moment, he began to understand, somewhat, what Leo had been going through. "...Thinking too much. We all are... I think," he considered, his eyes shifting between the pair, trying to size them up and decide whether or not the next course of action was really warranted. "...We should act. Instincts rather than thought. Back to the basics. We...will break the barrier. Are you ready?" Kamina stated firmly, turning his body towards the walls that were currently isolating them from the rest of the island. He thought, at this point, it was better to be attacked by that thing and find out what it was, or at least what they were dealing with, than it was to sit here and waste time with theories. It wasn't his niche, but perhaps this was the sort of direction that would better suit the lion man, who had already shown himself to have much trouble in his human form.

At the end of the day, he was still one with the heart of a beast.

"Leo...return to your normal form. You are...not as used to your human body yet. You...would be more useful in your prime; better animal instincts. More natural," Kamina stated, still slightly struggling. Before this moment, he had never actually spoken in this form. It felt...different. And then, something very interesting happened. The den den mushi rung, letting off a series of odd noises that sounded like a cat being strangled, before a voice chimed in. It was...familiar. But it didn't make much sense why.

"Kamina, sir. We have made contact with allies in both the Grand Line and the Blues. They seem to be in favor of allowing you to host W.M.A events through them, and we have transferred the necessary funds as a result. I have filed a list of locations for your convenience, and have sent out invitations to those select few that you were interested in. In addition, sir, your contacts are beginning to advertise in the areas they are located--with no connection being drawn to you, of course. Is there anything else you need, sir?"

The large great ape blinked. He had no idea what to say, other than something that he immediately regretted saying afterwards. "...How are you alive?" the beast king replied, completely and unnaturally uncouth in this particular circumstance. It was very much unlike him to let his shock show so carelessly, and his voice--while still recognizeable as his own--was considerably deeper and louder, so it sort of filled the room in which the aid was sitting in. So the response on the other end of the signal was very understandable, Kamina thought.

"Umm...what, sir?"

"I...never mind. Thank you. I'm curious, though; where are you now?"

"On the ship, of course. Right where you ordered me to go, in order to contact your allies for the W.M.A project," she said calmly, trying to return to her business sense, despite the odd line of questioning.

"I see. Tell me...has anyone actually left the ship? And if so, have they returned?" Kamina asked, the coolness returning to him, and his voice evening out. It seemed that this was just the sort of shock he needed to get his act together, and fix his ability to speak. Strange how women could sometimes do that to a man, or even--more often--do the opposite.

Another strange question, she thought. Still, it wasn't wise to question an employer's reasoning; especially one that paid so well, and offered such amazing benefits. "No, sir. We are all aware of the dangers of the island, and are even more aware of our inability to survive even at the fringe of this place. We've all stuck to the inside of the ship--which has more than enough accommodations--for fear of the flying beast's of the island potentially carrying us off."

Kamina considered that for a moment. Other students were all told to report to the ship first--as the plan had been to meet up with each other, and their potential teacher--and it was unlikely that they would leave, likely waiting for him to return. That aside, she would have already mentioned that they had returned, he thought.

Then again...there were exceptions to those who would be fine waiting.

"Alright. Thank you," he said casually, his mind processing this new information. She had been one of the two females that were with him earlier, which mostly disputed his idea of their deaths. And that was very much interesting. However, there was always the chance that one of the minor crew HAD wandered into the forest for whatever reason, what she had told him helped to put his mind at ease.

"Is that all, sir?"

Kamina considered this for a moment, before deciding that there was something else. "Yes...do not call me sir. I've told you this time and time again. It makes everything seem so very...rigid. And it also makes me feel old; I already have people thinking of me as some sort of sage or something," Kamina stated, a joking tone easing the intensity of his deep, booming voice. But then Kamina's eyes squinted, and it should have been very clear to the other two that he had not lost track of how serious things are. "...Also. Put the ship on alert. The disaster level is potentially God. Put the ship in full lockdown mode, and plot a course a good deal away from the island, just to be safe. Is that understood?"

On the other end, the woman's eyes widened. Disaster level Dragon was used to described an individual that could pose an actual threat to Kamina himself. One that could realistically go toe to toe with him. God was a rarity, as it was someone who could not only fight--and win--against Kamina, but also multiple others of incredible strength. If it was really that dangerous, even at the lowest end of the level, there was a very real possibility that, currently, they were dealing with an actual threat to humanity.

That was something that scared her witless. "Y-yes sir. I-I-I'll get to it right away!" And with that, she hung up, the connection to the other line severed.

From this point on, Kamina knew, communications with the ship would be kept to a minimum. He turned to the other two once again. "We're going...to break the walls down. Rock the island. We need...the rage of a beast," Kamina said confidently, looking to the other two. "We attack, use them to break through it all. We'll combine the attacks like before. Understood?" And then he turned his back to them, ready to strike. Once they were ready, and attacked, he would fire his signature giant shockwave and combine it with theirs. "SHINE-" was all that he said, before the large wave rushed forward, aiming for the wall with all of Kamina's mighty strength behind it.

The slow rhythm of both their heartbeats echoed in their chests as- before anything else, suddenly it all disappeared. The world would blur for all three in a mish-mash of colors, swamping forward and dispersing as the den-den rung and her voice was answered. What was revealed was .. a massive crater that they now stood in, no sign of Brier. However the stench of blood heavy on the air as Rhea slowly stumbled as if a drunken stupor was wearing off- blinking in confusion as even Leo stared at the destruction around them. ".. Illusions." He grumbled in obvious annoyance before he stumbled and blinked- and fell on to a knee.

"Side .. effects?" The words were confused, uncertain. The fact that the Illusion was more hen just that- but near perfect sensory control, to make them think a material was real when it truly was not, to even throw in Brier's words to make them think he was real as it revealed a possible subject of what it may be. Slowly the two looked at one another and then Kamina in confusion, before Rhea finally asked in a shaky- uncertain tone. "T-then .. where is .. Brier-san?" Leo slowly sniffed before his eyes trailed slowly toward the jungle that was left- which revealed a slowly limping man, Brier. His right arm was gone and he held that same bottle that Kamina had questioned previously, his eyes were tired as he slowly stumbled before falling forward.

Whether Kamina caught him or not, he would slowly roll over and smile sadly with a distant look in his eyes. "Ah .. so you all .. finally woke up huh ..? .. Dumb kids .. falled for the poison hook .. line and sinker .." He murmured weakly as Rhea dashed forward, "D-dont talk! We'll get you medical attention Brier-sa-" "Shut up, kid." he murmured as she stopped with a slow blink as Brier's eyes slowly looked at Kamina and his eyes narrowed. "Someone .. is trying to kill you, pup .. that beast .. was from the New World .. I don't know how it got here .. but watch your ass. Someone there knows your a threat .. they want you dead .. probably all you super rookies .. are in danger." He murmured the warning through halting breaths as the life began to steadily drain out of his eyes.

Slowly- his gaze drifted past the yellow maned beast king, drifting into the sky as a slow grin formed on his lips. "Who .. would'a thought .. I would die protecting some pirates .." he murmured softly as he slowly let his hand fall- the canteen being placed in Kamina's hand as he grinned slowly. ".. Help the Kid out, Kamina. Don't .. let him turn into us. It'll make you strong .. but .. the cost is .." he murmured simply as his eyes slowly closed. It wasn't such a bad way to go .. saving some kids .. pirates or not, they were young, they could make mistakes. They had entire lives to lead. He had died in the end, a Marine- protecting innocents from that monstrosity. It wasn't such a bad way to go. He had no tears, and his tired, old face finally- looked at peace as a slow smile formed on his lips, and his last breath filled the air.

Leo watched, silently- uncertainly. He didn't know how to feel. He had been willing to sacrifice Brier at the drop of a hat .. and he had died for him without Leo even knowing he had. The beast-man's teeth clenched slowly before he slowly stumbled forward and walked past the dead man, heading the way he had come. He had to see. He had to understand what Brier had done for them. As he stepped forward, he stopped and stared at the battlefield- shots from Brier's gun and punches has leveled entire area's like canonballs would. Tree's the size of small towers had felled left and right. Blood was heavy on the air.

There lay a single mutilated body, the beast was not breathing- the shape of an odd primate creature with feline characteristics, however half its head was metallic, cybertronic- its arms replaced with long blade like hooks that appeared to switch between clawed hands and the combat scimitar-like hooks. It's long tail and spine also replaced with a metallic version ending in blades. "Wendijo .. but .. not completely organic .." Slowly the beasts-man's eyes looked back to Kamina as he looked at the damage of the beast's body- it was torn to bits with holes and chunks of missing flesh. The battle had surely lasted as long as the illusion had kept up.

Brier had died protecting them while they were helpless in the beasts poison mist. The canteen was still half-full, the final gift to Kamina- and the text on its back revealed in simple cursive.

"Only to be used, when I am ready to meet her again."
