Good. While it may have seemed, to the beast, that it had mad a great move, and outsmarted the beast king, Kamina was very aware that it had gotten ahead of itself. Quite literally. Not only had its attention been shifted--which was, in fact, the point of Kamina's plan--it had also allowed itself to be placed in a compromising situation. A choke hold, regardless of who or what you were, was always an unfortunate position to be placed in; it gave the enemy the advantage of full movement while you were restrained. And while this was far different than with a human enemy... Kamina was no normal use of this move, as well. Kamina's senses were already on high gear. He knew what the beast would do. And, when it lowered its head, Kamina had already released the hold, using his large lands to springboard off of it, hopefully already using the momentum it placed into swiftly lowering to smash its head in the ground. But Kamina was aware how durable it was, and didn't bet money on it having its attacked stopped by this alone. So, in mid air, he transformed, his form becoming much smaller, and his gold hair returning, his hands cupped together as--with the beast not accounting for a smaller target--evading the claws.
"Shine...Kami...hame...haaaaaaaaa!" Kamina unleashed the large wave from mid air, feeling the force of it move him even higher. This, he knew, was dangerous, as it separated him from Rhea, but he was certain that she wouldn't get herself killed if he left her alone so quickly. Realistically, he knew that he needed Brier for this fight. The combination of the beast's thick skin and its stamina was a hard thing to get passed, and with its use of haki, Kamina was forced to use his senses to fight it, lest it would know all his moves without him being able to surprise it by using his senses to see its actions in relation to its counters to would-be moves. The trick was using his senses after it used obs; he hoped it wasn't smart enough to figure it out. He hated his current form, though. The long, spiky hair. The lack of eyebrows. The overwhelming force that was, at times, hard to control, due to him not quite being used to it yet. More or less, he was terribly bothered by how much his energy reserves would be at risk if he really went all out. His eyes looked down at his young prospect, and he saw he frozen in the battlefield, her face, he thought, transfixed with shock. It was terribly obvious that she wouldn't be of much use. Not now. "You! Snap out of it! If you aren't going to be of any use, than at least run!" At least she had sense enough to get out of the way of the blast; she even threw one of her water bullets in answer as well. At first, Kamina was concerned with using his techniques in the wilds, or on the island at all, because they had terrible, incredibly destructive effects, and could negatively damage the area considerably. Now. Now he knew what he was dealing with; he couldn't hold back. Kamina Techs Used Rhea Techs Used Heart Edit

A snarl left the beasts maw as the little-mina shot from between its bladed claws and its eyes twitched in annoyance as it lunged backwards- making distance immediately, it was smart enough to know Kamina was the real threat now- despite the instinct that said to kill the weak one first. It's brain said that the weak one couldn't do much to it, unlike Kamina- whom was forming a massive compressed shockwave and about to fire it. So the beasts eyes narrowed on Kamina, and as it skidded backward - it could have tried to counter the shockwave, but there was little point with how damn fast the beast king was. As such, it made a simple solution- haki hardening over its body as he braced downward and felt the force of the massive shockwave, head on. The force of course, resulted in the beast being blown backwards and skidding along the ground- but though the massive technique was powerful, the beast was hardly weak- and with the hardening Haki covering its entire body, which was already even stronger than the Haki to begin with- a technique without any piercing power, though great- was not going to do to much. The beast snarled as it went skidding backwards further and further, claws rending the dirt open as it did so before its mouth curled into an expression of anger as it finally halted- now nearly twenty meters from its original location, giving the pair plenty of breathing room as it slowly rose back to its full height and twitched in annoyance. So it responded in kind. The ebony-coated beast opened its mouth wide, and released what appeared to be a silent roar- until the air itself began to bend to the force of the blow. Before it was released, exploding forward in a massive shockwave that- though not nearly as skilled as Kamina's, was far more powerful with sheer force. However, it was also far slower- the massive explosion of compressed energy was released with such sheer force that it caught aflame- moving at such speed and power, that it became a highly compressed beam of pure heat. The explosive force and essentially, laser of super-heated high powered air pressure blasted strait toward not Kamina specifically- but at the student behind him and to the side. Forcing Kamina to act as guardian, once again. Technique Used

Good. Kamina almost wanted to smile as his attack engulfed the beast, and almost smiled even more as it seemed to have little effect; the truth was that the beast king still did not want to kill the beast, for several reasons, and, even more so, he already knew he was winning. Though he lacked the ability to outright defeat it, Kamina most certainly had the tools--and ability--to hurt it, which, over the course of the fight, was going in his favor. He was faster, and he also possessed the ability to predict the creature's actions, which similarly made it impossible for it to simply use its observation haki to get out of sticky situations. More than that, it also took considerably more energy for it to use its individual attacks then it did the beast king, and that, too, would take a toll, even if small. It was the small things that mattered. Not how much damage he could cause in one attack. Not his ability to take out the enemy in one strike. The difference was how Kamina positioned himself, how much faster he was, and how much more tactical he was; he was winning. The Gaoh had already suffered injuries, even if they weren't exactly all that serious, and, more than that, Kamina had suffered none. And he didn't think he would suffer any, and hoped not, as any attack from that thing could immediately be fatal. In the air, the beast king's perception honed itself, and he was able to grasp immediately that something big was going to be happen. Something very much dangerous. In mid air, lacking geppo in his arsenal, he simply threw his left arm downwards, his body curving to follow in its path as he 'threw' himself at the ground, right beside his female wotan prospect. "Shockwave. That way. Now," he said in a rushed, stressed voice, clearly hinting about how important the request was, and just as important the speed of its execution was. He was met with a swift nod, which, at the same time, was followed up by a punch that created a mighty shockwave that traveled forward. "Alright.." she replied simply, albeit nervous, her eyes focused, completing all of these actions simultaneously; unlike so many, she was actually capable of respond and taking action at the same time, it seemed. It very nearly found itself engulfed by the creeature's attack, if not for Kamina's quick thinking and expert planning. "Seaking...Crusher...!" He puched forward with intense skill and strength, striking not only the massive wave the beast had sent towards them, but also the shockwave his prospect created, resulted in--due to strike a wave traveling in the same direction of his attack, rather than the opposite--the strike combining the wave with his effective power, increasing what they would accomplish separately considerably. More or less, this could be considered a fusion of their two attacks, and would likely even overpower the creature. However, that wasn't the worst of it. Due to the nature of Kamina's attack, perhaps the beast would be met with a taste of its own medicine. "...World Shaper!!!" It was clear that the beast was terribly outmatched, perhaps. Though it was strong, and its haki was strong, and it was more than capable of stringing together rather impressive plans, it simply could not match the technical skill that the beast king possessed. Of course, there was need for a unanious calling of the move; it was just the way to set it off. They extranged glances, and, finally, there seemed to be a silent agreement. "Seaking...World Crusher!"" At least, that was what Kamina thought. He had full confidence that his plan would work without a hitch. He thought. Kamina Techs Used Rhea Techs Used

Anger. The beast's rage redoubled as the pair countered its own immense blast with their own, the force of the beasts shockwave being countered by the pair's completely overwhelmed its own- though the struggle that the three blasts met in the middle, holding its own for several moments spoke of the lions own blasts power. Still- in the end the combined strength, and unique ability of grandmastery that Kamina's held, resulted in the same as the explosion of heat shot back toward the beast- and it snarled as the explosion of heat hit it head on, wrapping around the hardening layer and its own incredibly durable form- not doing much once more with the multi-layered defense, but forcing it back another ten meters as it snarled in anger. However as the Woton's strike slammed toward it- it's eyes narrowed and it brought its claws up, slamming them down on the shockwave and with sheer strength, shattered it. Grunting, the steaming beast glowered at the pair in annoyance- its mind racing to think up a way to hurt its predators, to push the Beast King back- to hurt them. Before suddenly it froze, at the same time Kamina would catch the scent of his favorite aura- and a yell from the woods would be heard, before a shockwave of air pressure exploded into the area and an explosion slammed into the center of the "battlefield"- moving so fast even Kamina only saw the blurred form of a humanoid-shape. As the smoke cleared, it revealed not to be a beast- but the X-Vice Admiral laying in the crater, suffering from a singular wound from his left shoulder to his right hip- his gun in hand, but not fired. Signalling that the man had been fast enough to draw and possibly aim- but not even get a single shot off before whatever it was, got him. He was however, breathing with blood leaking from his lips, signalling that the cut was only the surface wound- internal damage, was evident. "Shit .. why is .. that thing here ..?!" He hissed before raising a shaking hand and glaring at Kamina, "Closer!" He yelled simply- and pushed a button, immediately there were beeps- as explosions from around the field formed, and massive trunks of tree's and vines shot from the earth, snapping together as the earth beneath their feet rumbled- marking them all, Goah included, stuck in the natural cage that covered all sides, top, and bottom. With that done .. Brier grunted and collapsed against the ground breathing heavily- and his eyes narrowed on the Goah, who blinked- and then fell back as the power of the man's Haki slammed into it. It didn't knock the Goah out, but it made it more tame at least- it still prowled far from there, glaring at them as if debating what to do- clawing almost timidly at the walls, between whatever the thing was, and Briers Haki, it seemed it had bigger concerns then them now. Something strange happened. While the fusion attack that the beast king and the wotan used was quite successful, it didn't seem to be enough to take it out. Kamina had expected that. What he didn't expect, however, was to be met with the smell of his late wife's perfume. It was a smell deeply rich, soothing to his soul and stirring both good and bad memories in the small moment that he caught sent of it. And, just as much as it was and did these things, it was also incredibly out of place. The beast king immediately stopped breathing, holding his breath, and clamped a hand over the wotan's mouth, squeezing her nose in the process. This was met with surprise, a startled look, before her eyes widened, and she immediately understood; she had smelled Kamina, and thought nothing of it, prior to him doing what he did. Sense he was right next to her, and her senses were fairly sharp, she simply thought, naturally, she was just smelling him. However, she understood the urgency of the situation almost immediately. She didn't speak, instead holding her breath. Feeling the female wotan's cheeks beginning to expand, hearing her inhale, Kamina let go of her, his eyes narrowing. He knew something had arrived, but was certaint that this was no more than the other members of this hunting party. Kamina saw the external injury that his friend and contract suffered, and, upon further inspection, saw the blood that now covered his lips. He had seen this sort of effect before; hell, he had made a technique that did much the same thing. This was the sign of an internal injury, something Kamina was aware of despite not, himself, being a doctor. Kamina knew what sort of danger they were in. And, as soon as the other man shouted his command and half warning, Kamina, fearing that his prospect would not react in time, grabbed her in an arm, moving swiftly to the man's side, before the cage enclosed around them all. It was incredibly dangerous now; they were trapped inside a cage with the Gaoh. But, Kamina thought, it was far better that than to be out there with that thing. If that monster was really this troubling, though--and Kamina trusted Brier's opinion on these sort of things above the vast majority of people he had met--it was clear that they needed to come up with a plan, as, perhaps, they were not entirely safe behind these walls, Gaoh not considered. And then he had an idea. He was the beast king, after all. He turned towards the Gaoh, taking on look at the ex marine. "You're injured, Brier. Whatever could do that to you, I am incredibly concerned. And we can't possibly allow it to live, nor can we simply sit idly by; we have to use every option available to us," Kamina stated, not turning to look at him. "And you...seem very much weakened. You can use your haki, I'm sure, but even if you can survive this easily, this does not bode well for your ability to actually fight. Especially with the blast of haki you're using on the Gaoh," Kamina commented, not wishing to hear a reply; he didn't want the other man to disagree. And, as Kamina spoke of the Gaoh, and using all of their resources, his intentions were becoming clearer. "Gaoh. I know you can understand me. You grew around many people, which explains your lack of fear or weariness regarding humans. I would know, considering I was the one who looked after you, feeling that I shouldn't leave such a small cub to be devoured by the wilds," Kamina stated, his voice attempting a more soothing tone. He seemed...very much wistful. "You know how dangerous that thing is. You know what it can do better than any of us. You know that if it gets in, and we die, you won't last much longer," Kamina said, hoping to plead with the more rational side of the beast. He fished inside his gym bag, removing a strange, gigantic cherry-like fruit with swirls on it, staring at it intently; attempting to decide on something specific. "This...is the human human fruit: model shandian. Yes...I know how mistaken that is. No, I didn't name it," He said casually, throwing the fruit to the beast; more than close enough for it to eat. "Eat it, and it will further enhance your intelligence. With this, you will be a great asset, and we can get out of this alive. I'm sure you understand how much more important that is. Agree to help, and Brier will release his haki on you, and instead use it on the monster that is hunting all of us," Kamina said, stressing each and every word. He had always been known to be fairly silver tongued, but he had no idea if it was possible that it worked on beasts, albeit a highly intelligent one whose intelligence was very comparable to a human. A smart one, that is. Rhea, however, was startled by the whole affair; from Kamina removing the fruit, to him throwing it at the creature, actually attempting to reason with something that had tried to murder them not that long ago. "Kamina...!" she shouted in indignity mixed with clear shock, aghast at just what was going on. She was worried--and scared--knowing that the monster was hard enough to deal with before, in her mind, and giving it a zoan would only prove to make it even more dangerous. Though, her shout was very late, as Kamina had already thrown it; perhaps, one could think, she only did it to voice even more concern. Perhaps to convince the beast king to destroy the fruit before the monster had a chance to decide to eat it. Kamina did no such thing. "Your choice is to eat it and work with us, or die. Slow...and painfully. These are your options, and I would make the decision quickly; after all, we are incredibly pressed for time at the moment," Kamina stated, trying to hasten the Gaoh's decision. Time was ticking away, and they couldn't all stop breathing too long. Edited by SvenFold, Aug 21 2015, 01:07 PM.

Brier didn't even seem able to respond to Kamina, in fact his Haki even seemed to be fluctuating- grinding his teeth as his hand struggled up to the belt across his chest, taking a slim vial out- his fingers fumbling as they removed the top to reveal the slim needle- and slammed it into his own leg as he fell back- each breath causing blood, revealing a collapsed lung from the wheezing as he struggled to try and tell Kamina something, but every time he tried to talk he just clenched and fell back, before finally growling and sitting up- a large hand grabbing Kamina by his shirt, forcing him to ignore the Gaoh for a moment. In a pained, but almost desperate voice he tried to give a warning. "D-don't .. listen .." he tried to finish but it didn't continue as he slowly fell back with a grunt- he was still breathing, and notably a bit easier then before- likely from what he had injected into himself as the bleeding from the surface cut had stopped as well, but he was completely unconscious. Ether the internal damage was that extensive for someone with as much stamina as him, or something else was triggered. The Gaoh however, stared intently at Brier after Kamina's words- then the cage that it was stuck in, and then the white-maned man quietly- angrily, and yet confused at the same time. There was certainly hatred in the beasts eyes for Kamina, but there was something else there too. The man had helped take away its mother. But it had also helped it grow. Slowly, the beast took a single heavy step forward- and leaned down, catching the fruit in its jaws, and swallowing. The taste had no effect on it, the beast had eaten far worse on this island and others- and it felt not different at first, until it began to feel its mind race. The beast was incredibly intelligent but it lacked something humans had- creativity. This, is what the fruit granted the beast, and it was nearly over-whelming as it fell back with a roar as it stared in confusion. Slowly however .. it calmed as it seemed to sit, and just think- that was until the entire dome, shook. There followed an scream that sounded like an Elk that had been injured or hurt, the sound was higher pitch however, grating- and almost seemed to echo within the prison despite it being outside it. The electricity seemed to have done its work, for now- as it went silent afterward- and yet the scream seemed to terrify the Gaoh as it curled into a ball as all its fur stood on end- snarling at the walls, even if Kamina had given it the power- it didn't know how to transform, not yet. Kamina's eyes narrowed. It seemed...the beast could understand to a point. Good. It seemed to have--albeit with considerable hesitance--accept the beast king's offer and line of reasoning, which spoke volumes of its intelligence; for a moment, Kamina thought, he considered this beast far more intelligent than some of the other people he had dealings with in the past, as he was certain that, if they had replaced this beast, they would far less understanding and rational. And if one is less rational than a wild beast, something is very wrong with them. Kamina's eyes quickly moved to the injured ex marine, wondering what it was that made him extend the amount of effort he was in order to get his attention; it had to be urgent. And that, alone, immediately got the beast king's attention, though, with irritation, he was aware that the other man could have simply called to him; speaking had to be hard enough, with those internal injuries, so any attempts to do anything by the large man would have ended in Kamina giving him all of his attention, aware that the action had to have significance given his current state. He watched the beast swallow the fruit effortlessly, not even seeming to take any notice of its taste. And that, Kamina thought, was what made the beast king think of the creature as its boy; he had raised it for quite a good time, and had, he thought, a real impact on its cognitive functions. It likely would not have been quite as intelligent without his aid, and, if he were to consider anyone or anything his offspring, it would be the Gaoh, funny enough. Its ability to not care about the taste and figure out what the best option was just wen to show how similar they were...if one didn't take into account that this was a wild animal, and that Kamina was much, much more better looking and intelligent. And then Kamina's senses sharped, and he felt the air displaced. At the back of his mind, Kamina remembered the other man's warning, and, with his experience, he knew what was coming. He shoved two fingers into his ears, before cupping them with his hands; thankfully, the female wotan had been wise enough to follow suit, knowing very well that if Kamina had done such a strange action like that so quickly, there was more than enough reason for it. Something dangerous was coming, and she knew that she had to act quickly. Soundlessly, Kamina nodded, watching her cup her ears just as he had. And then it came. The Gaoh reacted quickly, its hairs standing up, and its form becoming all the more stressed. Kamina heard nothing. Not really. And, for the moment, he had turned his senses off, fearing that they would cause him to hear far too much. It wasn't something he was comfortable with, but, more than anything, he was sure that his decision was not remiss; he was certain Rhea had enough sense to do much the same, and he waited, trying to decide when the sound passed, before removing his hands from his ears and focusing his senses once again; he had to be ready for the next wave, for sure, and this was the best way to do so. "Gaoh...no. Perhaps, when you learn language proper, you should choose your own name..." Kamina stated, trailing off. Despite that, he had said the word--the beasts type of species, and not so much its name--with complete commanding intensity. He wanted to shake off the fear--or whatever this was--from the beast fairly quickly, as it being in such a state would do nothing for anyone's benefit, and may in fact get them all killed. "When next you sense that, cover your ears. I do not know if it has any ill effect, but I don't really want to take that chance," the beast king said simply, his words firm. "To transform...visualize a form. Feel it within you; feel it as yourself. Wish to become it, and you will. Zoans are, perhaps, the most simple to learn, and even one who knows nothing of devil fruits, such as yourself, should be capable of using it. If this were any other fruit, perhaps, you would have much more trouble...but this particular one grants you creativity, and a truly human mind. Use it. Focus. Calm yourself," Kamina stated, his eyes locking with the Gaoh's. "Give in to your human instincts, rather than your animal. I know this may be difficult...but dammit, choose a human form!" he stated, his voice commanding; strong. One could have easily, perhaps, assumed that a man that could speak this way possesed the color of the conquer. And, perhaps, they would not be entirely wrong. "Be as I am; assume a human form, which is alien to you, just as I assume one that is a beast. You...can do it. I have raised you better than this, to cower so easily. Are you not a beast king, just as I am?" he stated, appealing to the beast's pride. Perhaps it would be slow going, but things had to work. |

The beast shivered, before slowly its eyes narrowed on Kamina- hearing his words as a slow growl escaped its lips, the claws digging into the flesh of the earth as it struggled- debating quietly as if trying to decide what it wanted to do with itself. Shrugging off, with a struggle the fear as it slowly breathed- and tried. It was .. foreign in feeling, the idea of 'visualizing' as the man put it. A form as Kamina had ..? Slowly it's face frowned as it tried to think- to imagine, and slowly- taking minutes as the time ticked by and the beast tried to imagine it, until slowly it began to shrink and stumbled forward- paws slamming into the earth as they changed slowly. Breathing heavily until it-- no, he, raised his head. The Beast-Man, no longer normal. He was large, larger then Brier of Kamina- but not as large as the wotan, standing at a bit over eight foot- the fur lined his humanoid anatomy that rippled with muscle and scar's that had matched its previous form. Its mind raced with the new changes, the new anatomy- growling softly as it struggled to stand without a tail and nearly fell on its knee's once more- the new, odd form making it struggle. Until slowly, it rose to its fully height- arms out much like a child trying to maintain balance for the first time standing on their own- a low growl was the only vocalization of the odd feeling. However, as the the entire dome shook once more- it stiffed and stared upward at the plantlike dome warily, despite how powerful and strong it obviously was- as if expecting it to simply rip it to bits without issue. Brier, was still completely unconscious before the beasts eyes slowly narrowed on Kamina- its mouth opened and it struggled, growls only coming forth at first before it made an annoyed face, and tried again. Snarling lightly before finally growling out- "S-strange .." The word took an immense amount of effort, and the beast winces, raising a hand to a throat that had never used such complex vocal cords, the only reason it was able to speak thanks to the singular idea of its immense intellect before it even ate the human fruit. |

Well then. Kamina blinked, staring at the Gaoh closely; warily. Unlike before, where he found himself fighting an enemy he had no intention of killing, if the Gaoh attacked this time, Kamina knew he would have his work cut out for him; and he would not allow the beast to take himself, his student prospect, or his friend. There was simply too much at stake now, and the time for games would be up entirely; he would kill it, and attempt to make quick work of it, even if he did it with a heavy heart. It was, at one point, like a man raising a puppy from when it could not see, all the way until it became full grown and able to protect the house, before it became rabid. But in truth, it was more than that; the Gaoh was intelligent. This meant more to the beast king than simply raising a puppy; it was like raising a son, and soon the Gaoh had shone that it was more than intelligent enough to take that mantle easily. Kamina had lost both his wife and unborn child so long ago...this creature had, for the short time that Kamina had to protect it from the predators that wanted the last remaining child of the former ruler of the jungle dead, shone itself to be intelligent enough to actually understand everything that was going on; it was not some beast blindly following someone who happened to give it scraps of food. It was very aware that the one taking care of it was the one that had taken so much from it; and the anger was present every day. Still, Kamina saw the Gaoh as a rebellious child, rather than a true threat. That is, until it had opted to eat the human fruit, and became a real adult in its thinking. He would kill it, already realizing that, now, it would be far too strong for the prospects to handle, and, that if it decided to rebel yet again, it would not be a creature he could allow to be unleashed unto the world. He would kill it. This weariness in his mind only increased when the beast, after recovering from what just happened, stared at the beast king and narrowed his eyes; this was not a good sign, certainly. It made him tense, especially given the sheer size and power that the beast possessed. But then its expression turned pensive, and Kamina found himself nearly heaving a sigh of relief; something he wouldn't allow any real predator such as the Gaoh to see, as this generally served as a sign of weakness. And showing weakness to a predator was not always a good thing, especially if they were already angry at you. Things happened. Kamina's eyes narrowed, this time, as he looked upon the Gaoh, who had already began to shrink in its stature. The growl that had been sent Kamina's way had only served to have him tense in preparation to act, only for him to ease once more as words--albeit ragged and clearly unfamiliar to the one who spoke it--spilled out, causing him to arch a brow, before he shook his head, clearly realizing his mistake. Yes, the human human fruit gave an animal who ate it the ability to think on a level truly equal to a human, but, generally, such things as speech was something that wouldn't have been accomplished for quite a long time. Kamina had thought of the Gaoh as any normal creature who had eaten it. Kamina had been very, very mistaken. "I see you are adjusting," Kamina stated, a smile threatening to touch his lips. He still wasn't certain where the beast's mind was, nor was he able to figure out whether or not he could be trusted just yet. But...perhaps...he had nothing to worry about after all. "Alright. If you have thought of one, tell me your name," Kamina stated, not wanting to simply call the beast king before him 'Gaoh'--his race--every time he wanted to speak to him; you didn't simply call a fishman 'fishman' or a human 'human' if you intended to communicate with any real respect. "...And, if you can manage to piece together the words to do so, tell me what exactly we're up against....and possibly ideas of how to deal with it." |

The beast eyed the pair, remaining a distance away- obviously not trusting the pair at all as the Wotan stared the beast down with just as much distrust. However, she allowed her teachers Judgement as the beast slowly lifted a hand, clenching its paw like hand slowly as the long claws elongated and it blinked a few times. Slowly however it's lips curled into an almost grin as it began to get used to the new body- and put the pair out of its mind for now, curiously falling onto all fours- testing its new anatomy out with a few light growls of confusion. Before it's muscles slowly clenched- and it threw its first punch, the release of energy and speed was roughly the same as before- but that was to be expected, this was its first time transforming after all. Slowly it's gaze slid to the side as it blinked as Kamina spoke to it and its eyes narrowed on the beast king, a slow growl that was partially annoyed- partially annoyed, but also a signal that it understood the beast king. A name .. this was the thing that the humans went by ..? They used it to tell one another apart. Too primitive to smell the differences like his own species .. he blinked at that- he had thought of himself as a he, not an it. The changes were .. more and more noticeable. Still, if a name was required .. it wanted something simple, easy to say for his poor throat. To the point, that would fit him .. and a grin slowly formed once more, there was a word that Brier had compared him to under is breath. It seemed fitting. "Leo." He stated simply, the gravely voice still adjusting and sore as he flexed the claws of his hand once more- and Rhea nearly laughed, if the situation wasn't so serious. Kamina had just made a beast they were having trouble with before- stronger, smarter, and even worse .. creative. It was already learning. Names. Motions. It was mimicking Kamina- and to her distaste, better then -she- had managed to mimic him earlier. Leo's eyes danced as he slowly raised a clawed finger and pointed it at Kamina as he continued to ask questions and his eyes narrowed, ears pinning back as he struggled to learn, to find the right words. It was difficult. He had always heard Kamina and others speak their odd language, understood it- but transferring what had been heard over the years into actual pronunciation was .. difficult. Slowly, the words formed. "Didn't .. see .. too .." He struggled for the right word. ".. too .." A frown of annoyance, "It was like .. small metal .. that bounces off my .. fur." An attempt at explaining that it was to fast for him to keep up with, and he slowly glanced up as a slow sound began to fill the dome- like metal being ground along stone, and it sniffed the air and hissed. "It .. cut cage. Then .. left. It did not hurt me." He explained, struggling obviously with the language. "No .. life .. no ... force. Not .. natural." Obviously, the Gaoh was commenting on what Brier had already explained- that it could not be sensed with Haki somehow. Rhea made a face and slowly looked toward Kamina, why would it free the Gaoh and not attack it? If it was already to fast for the beast to even see, then what was it's purpose? The sound of grinding metal continued to be heard and she shuddered, rubbing at the back of her neck as it sent chills down her spine. "What -is- that?!" She finally growled, glaring up at the ceiling of the titanium like wood that covered them- and then .. the sound stopped. All, sound stopped. The chirping of birds, the crickets, every natural sound the Jungle had to offer- even the sound of running water from nearby creeks- before suddenly the shattering scream of a young woman was heard- but from farther off. "NO! GET AWAY, NO! HELP! OH GOD PLEASE HELP!" Rhea's eyes widened and she looked at Kamina, "The other students?!" |

Kamina paused, his lips curving into a smirk; it was funny, really, to hear that this was what such a mighty beast had chosen to name himself. Fairly ironic, Kamina thought, to name yourself after an inferior creature in one's evolutionary line, but that wasn't something that the beast king had bothered to mention. It was fine, it would stick...and it strangely fit. "Not bad. A pretty good name, I think. You seem to be getting used to your body; which is good, as we need you to be capable in the next series of events that, I am sure, will likely unfold," Kamina said, his eyes looking around the area in boredom; by this time, the sounds of panicked screams had already reached them, and, it seemed, Kamina had no actually interest in them whatsoever. Which was odd, in and of itself; he was not known for his cruelty, or lack of care for others, and, in fact, had only shown the opposite during his travels and dealings with people as a whole. So what would make such a man completely ignore the potential deaths of those he had sought to consider as his students; those that anyone that knew about the whole thing was very aware of the fact that they could be considered weaker in to some extent. "I...see," Kamina said, disappointed in what the Gaoh--no, Leo--had told him. It was hardly helpful, and created for more questions than it gave answers. However, these questions completely drew him away from some prior thoughts he had on the matter, and helped him move to another path. "Small and metal, you say? How small are we talking? Could it have been a bullet, perhaps...?" Kamina wasn't sure if that line of reasoning would have even worked. He wasn't even sure if Leo even knew what a bullet actually was by name. But it was certainly worth investigating. And, more than that, there was something very interesting that the lion had said. "Not living? Not natural? Well, at one time I did work as an inventor, and I DO craft metals now. This sort of tells met that, in fact, we're likely dealing with some sort of machine," Kamina stated, not seeming to speak to anyone in particular. Meanwhile, the screams pretty much continued. But it was these screams that made Kamina weary, for multiple reasons, and the lack of sound other than those did not help in the slightest. Kamina then looked up, training his eyes on the female wotan, who was, he had to figure, was completely stunned to see that he didn't seem to even care that there was possibly someone in trouble. His expression was hard, and he looked over her with not even a trace of his normal amusement present. "You're panicking," he said dryly, clear stating the obvious; there weren't too many who could have kept a cool head in this sort of situation. "I know you did not meet the other students. Unsurprising, considering I haven't given their names, abilities, or anything to any of you. And...there's the fact that you were all sent to different islands for the purpose of conducting the preliminaries; you don't even know how many have gotten to the second round, just like you." Kamina sighed, shaking his head. He figured this next bit of information would do her little actual good in dealing with the others. "...Obviously, everyone I selected were those who were not only incredibly powerful, but also possessing unique skills and abilities that would make them quite useful. Just as much, they had to have the intelligence, creativity, and resourcefulness to survive the first round, as I'm sure you are aware," he said, speaking on the tests she had gone through, which were, even for someone with her innate physical prowess, tested her mind more than anything else. "Suffice to say, the ones who passed were proud warriors who would rather die facing a powerful adversary, than to panic and call out in such a way," Kamina sated, thinking. "...Which means, whatever is calling out now may have overheard--somehow--that students would be arriving soon enough, and is likely using that to draw us out of the protection of this cage; it knows there are some coming, but it does not know them, so it cannot mimic anything truly believable." Kamina closed his eyes, looking thoughtful for a moment, before opening them again and staring the wotan in the eyes. "Recall, Brier expressed incredible urgency in telling me 'don't listent'. At first, I had believed that this had everything to do for that burst of noise from earlier, but, due to the fact that Leo doesn't seem particularly effected by anything, I can assume my prior concerns weren't warranted. Which makes me thing..." Kamina said, his prior words and his idea now staring to become that much clearer. "...That perhaps Brier was fooled by whatever is out there, just as it is trying to fool us now. I can only assume that letting Leo here loose was its attempt to lure us out here, for whatever reason. Which means it is likely incredibly intelligent, even when compared to Leo." And things were moving along well. It seemed Kamina was already beginning to better understand the situation. Or, perhaps, he was only using this bit of conjecture to make the sacrifice of someone easier. He wouldn't really know at the moment. "So, we need to think. We don't need to rush off anywhere and do anything stupid without first coming up with a plan. My money is on this thing being a machine. I can't fathom what its after, but I can certainly say it isn't something to be trifled with, and I don't think taking down our only means of defense--which, right now, is keeping it out--in favor of running out to it is a good idea," Kamina sighed, hating what he was going to say next. "...Even if that is someone who needs help, we can't risk our lives on a worthless trip to get all of us killed. At the very least, we could avenge their deaths," and so he said it. Obviously, this would not be getting him any favor. And then a thought occured to Kamina. "...Leo, you're capable of using observation haki. Tell me, is there anyone else--human--in the jungle with us? And if so, how many? It's fine if you can't manage it, but it would help confirm of dispute my idea." And then Kamina thought of something else. "Rhea, yours senses are better than mine. Do you know what metal smells like? If you do, try and tell me whether or not any is near here, and try to map out locations; obviously, I mean only amounts that are abnormally high, or do not match the metals naturally found here. If you can't handle that, we'll be sitting on our hands, i guess..." This was what made Kamina truly great; even under pressure, he could lead fairly easily. "...In addition, we can't sit here forever. And, more than that, the other prospects ARE coming to this island, and we can't leave them to that thing. We need a plan, and any help would be appreciated." |

Leo frowned and shook its head slowly, "Bullet .. bullet .." He seemed to be trying to connect the word with something that was real- this was not a word he experienced often with Kamina, the subject of gun's did not really come out around a martial artist. Slowly it ground its teeth and then recalled the word- Brier had used it, talking about the things he used to throw at him with the metal round dagger. Slowly it shook its head, "Beast King not .. understand." He corrected Kamina, and struggled with the words- raising a pawlike hand in a way of telling Kamina to let him think and try to strand the right words together before slowly its golden eyes met the beast kings. "It .. not small like bullet. It .. fast like bullet. Did not .. even see blur. Only cage, cut. Cut like .. my claws. But stronger. Sharper. Better." Slowly it leaned down and his head tilted a bit at the word 'machine' he did not know this word ether, however Kamina spoke of metals- that Leo knew. Was a machine metal? That was the logical option, and so Leo began to understand rapidly as he slowly stretched and glanced back, seeming unhappy about something. "Need .. tail .. body to .. strange .." He pondered and then he blinked and the beasts intellect continued to show- as he closed his eyes and imagined himself larger, more muscular- like Kamina was. Stronger. Faster. With a tail for balance, and the changes began to form. This of course, made Rhea shift back and raise a fist- obviously about to defend against Leo whom appeared to be changing into a more offensive form- but Leo did nothing. Only slowly opening his eyes, now close to nine foot tall, and more broad- a tail flicking behind him with a more beast-like appearance, a hybrid form had been chosen it appeared for the beast. Slowly he grinned before it focused as Kamina began to speak once more and Rhea jumped as Kamina told her she was panicking- she opened her mouth to disagree, before his other words began to point out the logic. She slowly closed her mouth- she was not happy about it, but she seemed to accept it for now, a simple nod being her response as she rubbed her face slowly and tried to calm down. It was hard- when she was stuck in a cage with a beast-- no, a man that was getting stronger, smarter, by the second and they were being hunted by an unknown predator. Still, the continued cries of fear- ending in a choking weeping, and a single audible crunch of bone being shattered, filled the air and made her blood run cold. What if Kamina was wrong. What if that had been a student- one that had passed the same tests she had, one that was an obvious challenge for her- a proud warrior that would die brave. Yet this thing had brought them to be weeping, broken and killed effortlessly? What did that make her to this thing? Slowly her hands rose up and she crossed her arms- trying to hide her shivering. Slowly, she glanced at Kamina and took slow breaths and closed her eyes- trying to smell any scent of metal, and slowly she frowned. "I smell .. no metal. But I do smell something different .. faint, but everywhere. Like .. like the trail an animal leaves. It's on the dome Brier made .." She murmured, and thought her voice was still strong- she had to take breaths as she talked to keep her fear under control. She did not mention that she smelled -alot- of Kamina, the dome was formed- so obviously it couldn't be anything this .. thing, was giving off. It was better to just leave it unsaid. Leo's gaze eyed the Fishwoman, before snapping to look toward Kamina- Haki? That was what Kamina had called it many times. Slowly his eyes narrowed, as the crunch had filled the air before Kamina's question. He slowly narrowed his eyes and his Haki reached out- and slowly the beast man blinked in confusion and .. fear. Confusion. ".. I sense .. nothing. Entire Island .. dead .. that can't be .. right." The lion's voice as well began to mumble, and took a tone of anxiety- much as Leo had been before eating the fruit as it's eyes began to slowly slip toward the sides. ".. I smell .. human blood .. though." Leo commented lightly with a low grumble, as the dead silence- remained. Even the grinding noise was dead and gone. The screaming having halted after the crunching noise. Kamina would not smell his wife, or anything abnormal at that. Edited by HeartOfLight, Aug 26 2015, 04:16 PM.

Sigh. Kamina wasn't sure just how much worse things could get. While he was hopeful, he still had so many questions to answer, and much of the situation left him having to make several guesses, rather than arriving at certainty; normally, in these situations, he had to work with things that were very possible, rather than details that, at the current moment, should have been impossible. From what he knew, there was no such thing as a robot; cyborgs who were mostly mechanical, certainly, but an actually autonomous machine had never been successfully created, to the best o his knowledge; then again, perhaps the need to capture or kill them was a reflection of just how unsuccessful it really was. But it was the fact that he wasn't sure of even that, that bothered him. He hated being left in the dark, hated having to deal with situations where he had to use conjecture to try and make some sort of explanation for things. The Gaoh did not seem to know anything that would give any answers at the moment, the wotan was panicked, and, from what he knew, wasn't exactly the best to get strategy advice from. Brier was knocked out, and he likely wouldn't wake up anytime soon; being the only one out of all of them that really knew what was lurking out there, and how to deal with it. Thinking back, perhaps Kamina should have asked more abut the thing that was hunting them when he had the chance. But even then, he did not think that he would get much use out of that. "....FUCK!" Kamina rubbed his temple, shaking his head. He didn't like the sounds that he was hearing, and, even if he was able to come up with fairly accurate logic, he WASN'T the sort to leave those in need, who truly needed it, alone to deal with the issues. It was painful, really. And the sounds only shook his calm even more. "To think...such a simple assignment had turned into something like this... Dammit! How could so much bullshit happen on such a nice day," Kamina stated, staring up at the sunlit sky. It was nice, despite everything that was going on, so perhaps that was the high point of the day; god knows that he wouldn't be able to get anything better out of all the things that were going on. He stopped rubbing his temple, letting out an exasperated sigh, before he looked up at the other two. He was going to make a decision that, he thought, would likely turn out to be quite poor. "We're going to leave this dome and see what's going on," Kamina stated, looking away, his eyes, just for the briefest of moments he looked upon the other two, extremely tired. "I doubt it was one of my students, though. Then again...yes, that made sense," Kamina said, his eyes widening as he began to think about it. What of his two female assistants, who did join him to the visit to this place? They weren't fighters. They were here for intell purposes, and excelled at that, but, more than anything, they couldn't even defend themselves from a single raptor; their biggest method of keeping safe from the wildlife here was their ability to stay hidden and move silently; they were even capable of sneaking up on him from time to time, when he wasn't paying attention. He was aware that his students had not lost their lives. They were too strong and intelligent. And, while Rhea was the most capable from a physical standpoint, she was hardly the strongest, as the others had a combination of technique and intelligence that matched their impressive physical ability that would leave her at even one of the prospect's mercy. He had not mentioned that Rhea had been the one to barely pass the preliminaries, whereas the other three had either passed handedly or excelled. If they had come to the island together, they would likely do better than the fighting force that consisted of the beast king, a wotan who liked any formal training and far less discipline, and a beast struggling to hold his own current form, and take control of his newly given powers; clearly terrified of what they were bound to fight. They weren't exactly the best formation Kamina could come up with, and should be worried more about themselves and their situation, than the lives of the other prospects. "I...think I was mistaken. Just...not about the noises not being made by the prospects. ....Yes, I recall that voice more clearly now...it had to be one of them," Kamina stated, again not seemingly to be talking to anyone. He was thinking out loud, and that was not something he was known for, precious were his thoughts. "Alright. That tells me very little, Rhea, other than your ability to track it. Probably poison. So you should probably stop; do try and remember the general direction, though. In addition, I imagine you do smell human blood, Leo; there is the fact that there is a man bleeding terribly and covered in blood over there," Kamina stated, pointing towards Brier. "And even if my thoughts are right, and those two did lose their lives, there is still the issue of Brier being here unconcious; it will be hard to take him with us, without compromising both our speed and fighting ability," Kamina stated, his mind trying to regain its calm from before, even if he was far from it. Was he panicking? No, not after that outburst; he had recovered quickly after that. He was, however, exceptionally wary, and could hardly be considered totally calm at the moment; yet, he knew, he had to be strong for the other two, who seemed completely and utterly terrified of what was going on. Kamina sighed. "Leo. What are you smelling right now? Rhea, same question. Does it happen to be your favorite smell?" |

As Kamina snapped- Rhea and Leo visibly flinched back, not expecting the man to do such a thing and it seemed to make both of them even more on-edge. Rhea especially even took a step back from her master as she stared at him warily- before blinking at the question statement that the Beast King had been wrong, and her face grew pale. So they had in fact been listening to someone scream? Die? That crunch ..? Slowly her shivering intensified and she slowly began to curl up- every shadow started to make her jump, her eyes started to dialate as survival nstinct began to take over. She physically jumped, as did Leo who was showing similar symptoms, when Kamina suddenly asked what they were smelling- Leo slowly gulped and repeated his words. ".. Blood .. Human blood ... much human blood .." Normally the beast would be thrilled- but no .. he was terrified. Both he and Rhea were barely maintaining control- the Fishwoman especially, lacking the Lion's bestial instincts. She slowly nodded to the second-half of Kamina's words- and her eyes widened slowly, "P-poison?! Are we poisoned?!" The lion's ear flipped- poison, he knew this word and immediately the lion snapped its jaws shut and halted its breathing. Rhea however, started to hyperventilate- she was not trained, she was not experienced. She was strong, and had a powerful bestial drive- but in the end she was still very young, and very inexperienced. Her mind told her to stop breathing, to control herself, control her fear- she was never afraid, so what was going on?! Her hands rose to her head as she crouched down and began to breath heavily- she swore a shadow moved and she screamed in bestial rage of her heritage, as she spun and hurled a blast of water that took out several tree's as she breathed even heavier and fell back. The sudden attack triggered survival instinct in Leo who snarled and fell back from Rhea as if she was a threat. It was the same movement however- that made her note something that made her pale even further. Brier, whom had been between them all, and had been there before she had fired the water droplet- was now gone. Only the puddle of blood remained. Whatever it was- it was in, and not only that it had forced Rhea to make a distraction so that it could- somehow, take Brier from right under their noses. The only one that knew what it was. Rhea panicked even further and spun to look at Kamina, Leo staring with a snarling growl at Rhea, hair standing on end- however, the beast who was no longer breathing seemed to be calming down, slowly. Pupils still dialated, body language still anxious, still stressed, but Rhea was not- she wasn't thinking logically, fear had taken over. It was a wonder the girl was staring at Kamina begging silently for help, support, anything- and hadn't taken off. Her claws digging into her arms as she struggled to try to stop breathing, to calm down. People were already dead. It was inside with them. Brier was gone. Just breathing was dangerous. They couldn't see it. They apparently couldn't hear it unless it wanted them too. She was breaking down- and Leo's trust seemed strained suddenly from the anxiousness, and was warily glaring at both Kamina and the woman from the outbursts both had done (though the wotan's had been considerably worse). Then came the second scream- this time the voice of another female from outside the dome- another cry for help, begging miserably. There was no sound of pain this time, but Rhea tensed even further- the stress and strain, and Leo was beginning to bristle as his chest began to expand and shrink without breathing, his body silently begging the beast to allow breath- despite the risk. The question was silent and simple, but panicked- and uncertain. What do they do? |

For the moment, Kamina opted to ignore the panick that the other two were experiencing, in favor of collecting his bearings. Suffice to say, he was the one that was most likely to calm down and take note of the facts at hand. He looked around the dome they were, at current, 'imprisoned' in, taking note of it, before sighing. "Yep... To answer your question, yes, we're likely poisoned," Kamina stated, not even bothering to exclude himself, or to even consider this fact entirely serious. At least, in the way he said it. Perhaps he was trying to give his two allies a sense of calm, believing him to have an actual plan. "...Though, I do not believe it is the sort that will kill us; not directly, at least. It's likely the type that causes a very hallucinatory effect. I think, the fact that we have such advanced senses were what lead to our undoing in this moment; any normal person would have likely not been able to intake quite as much of the stuff as we have. Though, we have the advantage of having incredibly powerful stamina; which, by proxy, means that we are able to filter it out even better," Kamina stated, trying to grab at any amount of reason he could find, whether real or fake. Kamina chuckled, shaking his head. "Likely, our senses are becoming increasingly hindered; and, in fact, are becoming a hindrance, rather than an aid; even the action of speaking likely causes us to be more susceptible to the blight that we are experiencing," Kamina stated casually; smoothly. He didn't seem to be particularly worried about the terrible news he was giving. "...Let's consider something for a moment. Despite how fast this thing is supposedly, or how impossible it is to track it...have none of you considered the fact that none of us heard the cage itself break? We all have considerable stamina--especially you two--and so the poison--if indeed it exists--would be constantly filtered, and far less useful on us. I think we'd at least notice something like that happening," Kamina stated, trying to make sense of everything. And then there was the fact that the two were panicking. "Leo...Rhea...have you two every felt so afraid of anything before? Especially you, Leo, who has bestial senses. The poison likely enhances our natural sense of fear, anxiety, and so forth. I'm almost pretty sure this was the plan; target those most susceptible, and then divide and conquer. I don't think we're dealing with an opponent we can't handle, so long as we keep our wits about us," Kamina said with confidence, even though he may not have been entirely so when it came to the situation at hand. "There is a possibility that, indeed, Brier could be in the same spot that we left him. There is also the possibility that whatever is out there has no interest in killing us, if, in fact, it is inside or capable of moving within. That isn't isn't the best news, but it certainly limits its ability to handle US, and not the other way around," Kamina's eyebrows knit together at that, as he approached the young wotan. She was panicking far worse than the Gaoh, and, in fact, that was causing Leo to be even more on edge. He had to calm her. He moved closer to her, taking in her much larger frame, and cupped his right hand around her chin, trying to get her to raise her head to look him in the eyes. If one didn't know better, he looked as though he was going in for a kiss. "Calm. Have you ever truly had reason to doubt my reason to any extent that I would be incapable of figuring things out? We will survive this, I swear to you. But I need you to calm and think with me. Understand?" he stated in a sure, soothing voice, his body motions relaxed and calm, attempting to transfer this sort of thing to not only the wotan, but also Leo, who was just as on edge as her. "You too, Leo; you are aware of what I'm capable of. Don't let that fact slip your mind as we continue to work through this." He wasn't certain, but he would pull them through this.
