Profession:
Doctor
A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew. Doctors have the ability to create drugs and toxins that can buff allies or debuff enemies.
Thief
The Thief is a job closely related to the assassin. They both provide stealth capabilities, though a Thief gains lockpicking skills instead of poison knowledge, can generally know their way around the ways of barter and trade, and pickpocketing. Thieves don't have it hard to find 'underground info' in most cities, either.
Weapon Specialist
A much more general fighter-type profession, a Weapon Specialist is someone who has to a large or small degree devoted his/her life to the mastery of a single weapon or weapon type, such as Swords, Axes or Whips. This profession applies generally to melee weapons.
Inventor
An Inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. They have good insight in how blueprints work, and can upgrade weapons, build gadgets and battle engines if they have enough materials.
Position: Wanderer
Physical Appearance Height: 6' (182.88 cm) Weight: 170 lb (77.11 kg) Hair: Shoulder length, dark brown dreads tied back in a pony tail. Eyes: Dark Brown Clothing/Accessories: Every aspect of Sebastian's attire screams out hipster. The teen's ears are gauged and in them he wears 1/2" plugs. Sitting right on his nose are large hipster glasses. His tops are usually only flannel or Hawaiian shirts. When wearing a flannel shirt he likes to roll the sleeves back toward his elbows. With bottoms Sebastian tends to only wear corduroys pants scuffed to his calf. As for shoes, he keeps it simple with slip on footwear. Depending on the weather he will either throw on a hoodie or shorts. Around the teen's left wrist are a few rubber bands of various colors and thicknesses.
General Appearance:Sebastian has a dark brown complexion, one closer to brown than black. His build is average, fit yet not bulging with muscles. Around his jawline is a little bit of hair, more of peach fuzz than anything. However, on the chin actual facial hair has begun to grow. Sebastian's right eyebrow has stylized diagonal stripe through it.

The Character Personality: Sebastian 'Ace of' Spade, was an epithet given to him out of ignorance. There was those who would say that the teen is consistently dealt the 'luck of the draw.' He can survive a pirate abduction, escape a sinking ship, steal from any man without being caught, etc, etc.. When in truth, it wasn't luck at all. It was his misfortune. The fact that his life coerced him into the aforementioned exaggerated situations meant he was quite the hapless individual. Sebastian had terrible luck.
But regardless, he enjoyed the faulty nick. It was was catchy and helped him cope. Sebastian was not an emotionally stable individual. He lost two families and was basically a slave for a decade. That's enough to break anyone's psyche. Knowing that others saw his life worthy of such a title, without doubt brightened his day. And observing his life from their perspective made it not as bad.
By all means, Sebastian was a fraud. On the outside he played the cunning fox; just calm, cool, and collective... at least he would do that to the best of his ability. He often failed because on the inside he was the exact opposite. However, in some sense he faked this persona of his to the point of actuality. As of now all it took for him to become that wily fox was a smile. Any stressful event could fall onto his shoulders and with a smile he would push onward the best he could. To fake a smile, just one of the few things he could remember his mother teaching him.
Ever since Sebastian washed ashore Windfrill Island, he had a sudden realization that the sea was where he was suppose to be. He was an idealist. The teen had so many goals and aspirations all revolving around exploration. Every night he wrote in his journal about wandering the seas, feeling alive and free. Now it's to the point where he carries the notebook wherever he goes, writing in it when ever there's an idea or a puzzle needing solving. There are times when Sebastian comically finds himself so adrift in his journal that he becomes oblivious to his surroundings. Which at times makes people wonder how reliable his navigating can be.
Sebastian was a rather quiet individual. He didn't have problems socializing or starting conversations, especially when interested in something. However, he is more of an observer-thinker mixture. It's just the way his thought process operated. The teen rather gather intelligence on, or watch, situations unfold for himself. Due to this, he has a tendency to try and solve everything on his own without communicating. Even going as far as weighing the burden of others on his shoulders, relieving them of their problems and making it his own. Then at times even disappearing without a word to his comrades to settle dilemmas that don't involve him. All simply to have the satisfaction of knowing that he could solve the riddle. Not to actually help. He could care less about their gratitude.
Hometown: Windfrill Island, South Blue History:
The Abduction
The earlier days were just fun and games. Sebastian had a mother, father, and perhaps a younger sibling? The past was hazy but he remembered truly enjoying himself then. And of course he couldn't forget the day that changed his life. At the time Sebastian didn't know what caused the separation, and to this day he still didn't.
He was six years old and in the grasp of some man, a pirate, one upset with his father. The pirate's arm was wrapped around the boy's body, holding him off the ground, while his other hand wield a blade against his throat.
"You've failed us again Mister Spade," said Sebastian's abductor. "And as promised, we're taking your first born son."
Mister Spade, Sebastian's father, was devastated. His eye's broaden from shock as the man finished his statement, then they narrowed along side the melancholy contortion of his face, all within one fluent movement. And when the tears began to run down his cheeks the same occurrence happened to Sebastian. Together, father like son, they bawled wildly as they were separated forever.
The boy had never witnessed or experienced such distress before. It was then he realized how disturbing and heart-rendering the wretched tears of a beloved could be. From then on, he refused to undergo a sensation of prolonged grief ever again. Boy did that not happen.
* * *
Sebastian found that a certain type of heartache occurred when you couldn't picture your mother's face anymore. Luckily for our little Sebastian, he could recall a quote of hers.
"When you're feeling down, turn that frown upside down."
It was a silly little saying his mother used once to stop him from crying. But seeing as it eventually became the only clear memory he could recollect from her, it became dear to him. It helped him adapt to his new life as a pirate. Their actions were unjust, and brought sorrow to the child as he watched. But he smiled, it was all he could do. There was no escape, the pirates abducted him and kept him as a chore boy for ten long years.
Though in his latter years as a chore boy Sebastian was accepted as one of them. He still wasn't asked to participate in their piracy, they valued not having to tidy the commodes too much to risk the boy dying. However, he did find them befriending him. And from then on, their actions didn't seem that big a deal anymore. Still unruly and corrupted, but it was what it was. They were a gang of brutes living their lives to fullest. And Sebastian wasn't a brute but he wanted to be happy like was before he met the pirates. He wanted to be free and enjoy himself, and to some extent, he was already accomplishing that. Their vessel wasn't a house, but it was his home. Sebastian was a chore boy, one who appreciated his life at sea.
And as if on cue, it all came crashing down. Sometimes the boy came to the assumption that it was not meant for him to be pleased with anything.
The ship was derailed, struck by several cannons and more to come. On the verge of wreckage, quickly rising in sea level, the marines were trailing them, it became too late to flee. Right when Sebastian started to enjoyed the company of his captors they all had to die. The situation was surely a sticky one, yet he refused to grieve. Instead he stayed calm and smiled, faking stability until he eventually came to terms with his inevitable demise. After all what could be done? It was what it was.
Suddenly he heard it. The finale of explosions that emerged him and the lifeless bodies of his crewmates into the sea. Satisfied with their half ass take down, the marines left. Fishing up only the bodies of those who held bounties on the crew.
Windfrill Island
"Oh my goodness," cried the voice of an innocent woman. A sound Sebastian had long forgotten. "Hey... Hey kid, are you okay?"
Sebastian's eyes sprung open suddenly and abruptly. The teen was shaken up and utterly confused. He was laid out on the beach, the shore constantly splashing against his tattered attire. Quickly rising to his feet, he pushed the broad away from him as he stammered towards the sea to witness the debris of his crew's vessel. He wanted to cry but refused to allow the tears to leak out. Sebastian smiled instead, laughed even. The teen lost two families now. Struggling to come to terms with this, his knees grew weak. He had trouble walking, and now he could barely stand. Stubbornly, as Sebastian began to fall, the woman rose up and caught him. From there he was left in her hands as he began to black out.
It turned out the Island he washed ashore on was Windfrill, an island known for it's harsh weather, terrible slums, and underground fighting circuit. And the woman who salvaged him was Sheba, the owner of an orphanage in the slums. He was now a permanent resident there until adopted--which would have never happened, or turned 18. Sebastian was trapped like a caged animal. He wanted to go back out to sea and witness the world for himself.
Seeing how determined Sebastian was, Sheba chose to aid him with his dream. She still couldn't let him leave the orphanage until 18, neither did she want to out of concern for his safety, but as Sebastian waited, Sheba taught him navigation. Which eventually lead to him falling for the woman. She was seven years his senior, her support and guidance subconsciously reminded the teen of his mother and he couldn't get her out his mind. But he knew his love for the woman would never come to fruition. Sheba was a caring woman who not only looked out for Sebastian but the rest of the orphans equally. He wasn't anything special to her.
That blow struck his heart hard, but he was a tough nut to crack... even more than he already was. He laughed it off. Sebastian may not have been anything special to Sheba, but he couldn't ignore his feelings for her. The teen didn't expect anything in return, but in order to see Sheba happy he began to indulged in the art of thievery. He was going to be a pirate eventually, so it was just a matter of time. Sebastian stole from others and left their food, money, and valuables at the orphanage anonymously. Over time his crime spree began to overlap his navigating studies. And it was then he realized he became too obsessed with Sheba. Sebastian feared when the time came for him to set sail, he wouldn't be able to leave Sheba. He had to slow down and get his priorities straight, nothing came before the sea, nothing.
Abilities and Possessions Combat: Sebastian isn't a fan of combat. It's rare to see him in a fight and even rarer for him to initiate the brawl. But a sure fire way to get the teen hyped up is threatening the things he cares about. He wouldn't mind seeing the world burn, but if his friends or dream was at risk then he wouldn't dare hesitate to jump into the fray. Abandoning everything he could be doing just to protect them.
When in combat Sebastian, he likes to save some time by using hid pistol. It's usually enough to take down any mook. But when unable to or the opponent is just far too skilled to fall prey to the hipster's poor marksman skills, he reluctantly jumps in with simple kicks while working in his notebook. If the adversary requires Sebastian's full attention, then he closes his notebook and clicks his pen to extend it into a short needle sword. His notebook then becomes his shield with it's cover. Thus making him the hipsterest of all knights.
Then, if that isn't enough, the hipster resorts to cheap tactics like taking drugs and using poisons. Gotta win, ya know.
Weaponry:
Book A 300 page journal with a steel cover. The book's dimensions are: 9" (22.9 cm) wide, 12" (30.5 cm) tall, and 2" (5.1 cm) thick.
Pen A pen that Sebastian created of steel grade quality. He is able to click the pen to have the tip that provides the ink when writing to extend outward into a three foot long needle. Twisting the grip of the pen causes the ink in the pen to turn toxic because of smart guy stuff. The poison technique can be found below. Twisting the pen grip and clicking it return's the weapon back into a regular writing utensil. Unfortunately when used as a regular pen it's tip can never fully be retracted because of his the clickers function, thus Sebastian's pockets and writing hand will forever be an inky mess.
Gun A steel handheld firearm that fires six shots per round.
Items:
Miscellaneous
-Backpack -Writing utensils -More notebooks -Herbal smokes -Grounded up herbs in little sell able zip-lock baggies -Little lighter -Spare clothes and accessories
The Power of Friendship!!!
The character finds in their possession a picture of their crew or all the people important to them in general together. Once per sl, when looking at this picture the character no matter how badly beaten gets a shonen boost that allows them to continue to fight at full strength for 3 posts before all the effects kick back in again from the beatings.
Drop the Mic
The invisible mic that was used to send the general into a rage, though it seems fairly useless- however once a thread it allows the user to gain the ability to mesmerize nearby mook NPC's for 1 post as a distraction- through music, talking, bragging, whatever it may be. It has no effect on non-mooks however.
Treasure Map
Sebastian finds a rather old rolled up parchment. Unraveling it reveals a map of South Blue, a drawing of a giant meat, and letters on the bottom of the page that reads "Meat marks the spot." So what does it actually do? Well, you'll find out once the crew actually takes initiative on following it. Whenever said SL is completed just notify me, I'll handle the grading as well as giving out some extras.
Parallel Uni-View Master
A red pair of toyish stereoscopic glasses with corresponding reels that can be inserted through the side. The object earns its name because of what the stereoscope reveals; the wearer perceives his events, surroundings, and fellow people as if they existed in another existing canonical universe (for example, when viewed through the Bleach reel, a swordsman might be viewed as wearing a dark kimono, and their sword might appear to resonate an aura of power.* A Slam Dunk reel might cause characters to be perceived as though wearing basketball jerseys, glistening with sweat. A Kill la Kill reel might... uh... UH.)
*Of course, this is limited solely to perception.
Mysterious Green Liquor
A bottle of mysterious green liquor with a very, very high alcohol content. The user can drink this to become trashy drunk, but its real ability lies in its ability to ignite into a brilliant purple flame. Once per SL, this bottle may be lit and thrown as an incendiary molotov cocktail equivalent to a rank 4 inventor bomb. The fire causes burn damage to substances under iron durability.
Squeaky Duck
This little rubber duck loves to be squeezed and produces a happy squeaky sound. If by any chance you squeeze it while on a summer island, near a body of water, that sound transforms into a happy, squaky loud cry of "LET'S PARTEEEEEE" and all friendly NPCs heed its call to varying degrees. If you squeeze it on a winter island or when near a scary enemy (read anyone who isn't a mook), it doesn't do anything.
Dendy Dens
Two den den mushi, one strong enough to speak with peeps on other islands and a baby den den only strong enough speak with peeps on the same island. The baby den den has dreads and the other turns into the appearance of who ever is messaging her.
Useless Bobble Head That I Hate
Sebastian finds a bobblehead that looks like Jim. He has no idea how he got it, just found it in this pocket. If it's destroyed, it shall come back next SL.
Fate of the Mighty Hipster (4 Traits) – By placing traits in Fated, you lock them until the next time you earn a trait. You may put as many traits as you have into fated. In the meantime, you get a temporary boost of (# of traits in fated, multiplied by 3) to your stamina stat.
Professional Traits
Hipster Treasure Hunter (1 Trait) – With their knack for discovering hidden items that don’t necessarily belong to them, these thieves are very skilled in looking for treasures. Thus, in their SLs, they will always get an extra little item. It could be something quirky, or it could be something rare.
Hipster of All Trades (1 Trait) – The character is able to master multiple skills, and has become adept at a number of things. This character gains two additional secondary professions.
Devil Fruit

Instinctually, Sebastian drew out his iron notebook from within the rear of his pants. Unfortunately there was no need to bring it into the fray though. The crewman was laid out beside his feet. He rolled over onto his back, gasping for air while uttering the names Beans B. Kenny and Kay T. Law.
"Who are they?" Wondered Sebastian as he opened his notebook. Perhaps there would be use for his notebook just yet. From within his Hawaiian shirt pocket he took out a pen prepared to record information.
The man said nothing as he took out a baby Den Den Mushi from with his own shirt pocket and dialled a number. Intrigued, Sebastian allowed him to continue.
"C-captain, the ship is under att--Guah!" Exclaimed the distressed man before Sebastian rudely interrupted him by stomping on his chest. The man remained alive, gushing out even more crimson into the air before losing consciousness. The mook wouldn't have been waking up anytime soon.
Sebastian picked up the baby Den Den Mushi and began to speak, "Uh, he lied, I only attacked him... But yeah, are you strong?" He asked, hopefully speaking to the captain or whoever answered, if even answered.

Ink Master: - Typically, poisons last for rank/4 duration, but they can be dropped one crowd tier to last for rank/2. - The Rank 4 poison can keep the 2 post duration, because being dropped one crowd tier. - The Rank 8 one would still be 2 post duration, unless you wanted to drop the debuff to 4 (50% instead of 66%), in which case it can then be 4 posts.
Wow, that doesn't sound so bad does it.
Same deal goes with the Herbal Remedies.
- This might be because I'm tired, but I can't find the thread where the steel pen got priced. It around somewhere?

Excerpt From Last SL - Updated 8/25/15

Profession:

* * *
