Character Template [-----] Account Name: Swag Lion Basic Character Information Name: Raleigh Notadam Burminnster Nickname: Rals Age: 21 Gender: Manly Race: Hewmun Affiliation: Other Threat: Nada Achievements: ♦ Spent more money than most people earn in a lifetime. ♦ Used said money to buy an island, only to accidentally burn it down.. ♦ Bought a marine boat, and sunk it on purpose. ♦ Ate the Neppu Neppu no Mi. ♦ Got cut off from his handy trust fund money. Probably not an achievement, or even something to be proud of. ♦ Was excommunicated from the Burminnster family; first of his kind. ♦ Hasn’t had a hit called out on him yet. ♦ His parents don’t hate him somehow. ♦ His sister does in fact hate him. Profession: ~ Cheftender A Chef, Cook, Bartender or any other distinct related profession gives kitchen skills and knowledge about food, flavoring, ingredients, drink, and nutrients. They are masters at making the most out of whatever ingredients are available, and know how to create a balanced diet for the crew that will keep everyone in fighting trim. Chefs can also create foods which strengthen those who eat it, granting buffs to their allies. ~ Martial Artist A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body. Position: An Ex-Rouser Physical Appearance Height: 6’3” Weight: 181 Hair: Raven, messied, fairly short. Sort of encapsulates his face; dude rocks it unkempt. Eyes: Pensive, blue, icy. They look a bit too serious. Clothing/Accessories: Raleigh’s dress is mostly ‘formal’, though for him everyone else’s casual attire is basically pj’s. Basically, Raleigh grew up around rich people, so he at least dresses business-like when in any company that matters. If not wearing a suit jacket he at least wears a vest, or in cold environment will default to a bulkier coat. He’s almost always wearing slacks and dress shoes, or at least sporting loafers, along with button up shirts with long sleeves. Certain clothes make his limbs look a bit long. General Appearance: Raleigh is a tall, well-built individual of questionable origin. His personality and general way of holding himself belies his wealthy upbringing, but his clothes manage to bring it back on track a bit. In a neutral state he tends to seem as though he’s glaring, but this is not the case; he’s just got a very serious face. Raleigh smiles now and again, but even then it doesn’t seem to soften his expression too much, so it’s a rare occurrence.. His hair is probably his most valuable asset, since it kind of rounds out his scary appearance to make him look more approachable. You’ll typically find him in a bit of a slouch, leaning against a wall or sitting in a sprawled out manner. Underneath fair skin lies a good amount of wiry muscle, built from a number of brawls. It’s a wonder that he has only a few scars, and only half of which are even readily apparent. He has a handsome face with no features that stand out besides his very blue eyes and his somewhat pointed nose, and the fact that he’s almost always got a cigarette held between his lips or fingers. Raleigh’s long limbs might make him look a bit lanky, but anyone close enough to him can see that he is in fact not thin, and instead quite muscular and broad-shouldered. He’s really rather imposing. Wow So Many Pictures! The Character Personality: Raleigh is at his core a man trying to find the right path. He’s recently realized that he has made some glaring mistakes in his life, and his most recent attempts at changing haven’t worked out so well. He takes offense easily, he gets into fights, and he’s generally just a bit of a pill. Now, some recent, very impacting events in Raleigh’s life caused him to see many of his great flaws, and so now he spends much of his time trying to act opposite of how he has. He’s typically a good guy when you set aside the attitude issues, he’s just got a ways to go! After being cut off from his parents and becoming sort of excommunicated, Raleigh has tried to be a kinder person. This ranges from not yelling at an orderly for messing up a dinner order, to not punching a guy in the face for overcharging on cigarettes. It’s not to say that he’s a mean guy; Raleigh just has a wicked temper and a “speak your mind” disposition that he has to actively keep a lid on. People typically either see him as a rich snob or a problem of a man, so he tries hard not to play into those roles. Unfortunately, Raleigh doesn’t have any positive role models, so he’s sort of floundering in the “be nicer” department. Well, underneath it he can actually be quite kind. He just sucks at showing it. He tends to favor others who don’t demand a lot from him, and especially prefers people who don’t care to talk much about themselves; actions speak louder to Raleigh anyways. When it comes to directly dealing with people, as said before Raleigh tends to be overly blunt, it not just plain rude. He rarely pulls his verbal punches, and his mouth often gets him into more trouble than his involuntary reaction to punch people that upset him. Before his fist often comes a wicked tongue, as it were. When trying to be polite it often seems contrived, but Raleigh genuinely desires to better his image. He’s particularly bad at admitting to his own faults, and he often retorts to criticism with snarkiness. Raleigh’s actually got quite a sense of justice, which most people would probably be confused by. But in that way it’s sort of like, he’s lived a less than savory life, so he knows first hand the kind of pain that human beings can cause to one another, and that’s all from being just a regular rich asshole. That being said, Raleigh will often push others to rise up and fix their problems themselves, believing that solving your own trials is better than accepting help from anyone. Though he still doesn’t like to see the little guy get stepped on, so sometimes Raleigh just has to step in. You know how it goes. In regards to love and intimacy, or even friendship, Raleigh seems to not pay either much attention. I mean, he’s not very good at making friends, and he’s probably even worse with women. Either way, both of those things don’t seem to have a place in Raleigh’s life, at least currently. It’s not that he’s against platonic or romantic relationships..he’s just bad at them. So, when Raleigh isn’t being a bit of an ass and he isn’t trying to be better, what is he up to? Well, Raleigh still likes to have fun. Granted, it’s a lot harder when you’ve sworn off drinking and are trying to forego fistfights, blowing up yachts, trashing hotels..that sort of stuff. Typically Raleigh stands around now, smoking his cigarettes and trying not to talk to people. Sometimes he goes out of his way to explore new places, see new things, that sort of deal, all the while doing his best not to get into trouble. It’s just too bad that trouble seems to want him. He also has an odd passion for creation. That is, of the culinary sort. Raleigh took up the art of the chef pretty early on in his exile, and he found it to be surprisingly relaxing. In the kitchen with a utensil in hand is where Raleigh is most at peace in life, and he’s noticeably less snappy and angry there. Things Raleigh likes include, but aren’t limited to: Spicy foods. Raleigh particularly loves spicy, and sometimes even sour foods. Raleigh also enjoys reading from time to time, though the genres which he enjoys are extremely limited, such as ancient history or scientific theory. Yeah, I wouldn’t have guessed either! He also very much enjoys smoking, but not so much the negative impacts. Actually he’s just addicted, and he knows it. Raleigh very much enjoys peace and quiet, and he is naturally drawn to peaceful areas, especially places lush with plant life; it’s hard to be mean to plants. Lastly, Raleigh very much admires kind people. It’s sort of odd, but he just respects anyone that can be benevolent no matter what, even if he doesn’t really understand it himself or even practice it all that much. Well, maybe that’s not so odd. Raleigh dislikes sweets, but he tolerates chocolates. Actually he sort of loves them, but he would never admit it. He kind of hates ‘bad guy’ stereotypes of dudes, even though he sort of seems like one a lot of the time. Raleigh doesn’t deal well with the snow; he grew up in a pretty temperate climate, so the cold bothers him a bit more than usual and tends to make him grumpy. He especially hates how his ears get cold. Raleigh sort of hates almost all music. At the end of the day, Raleigh is really just trying to find purpose in life, and to become a better person. In fact, the two are linked in his mind; good things come to good people or whatever the saying is. So, he’s trying find a grand purpose in life and be less of a d-bag. And he’s really trying hard. He feels bad about all he put his family through, and he genuinely wishes he could apologize to them in a way they would accept. Unfortunately, he’s got a bit of growing up to do still, so Raleigh is a long ways away from any grand reunions. Despite that lack of purpose, Raleigh is actually quite a driven individual; he would gladly die for any cause he felt was important. He’s just still looking for the right one. Hometown: Windemelierre Isles, Grand Line Island History: Raleigh was born like any other child into a pretty normal household. Well, the Burminnster family wasn’t quite ‘normal’, since they were decidedly wealthy. And by wealthy I mean these people lived in a giant mansion and had numerous staff just to take care of the home and grounds surrounding it. But this sort of wealth and stature was typical of the Windemelierre Isles, it being a group of islands full of other rich people. Raleigh’s father was a Reginald Burminnster, a somewhat famous “entrepreneur”. He made his fortune by starting off with a small, one through all sorts of risky business ventures turned it into a huge one. Raleigh’s mother was called Eden Burminnster, and she was fairly well known also, but for being a model; her luscious black hair and imposing height for a woman were of particular note. Overall the kid came from pretty good stock. Anyways, Raleigh was born into this sort of world, where he got anything he wanted all the time. It wasn’t a stretch to say this boy was pampered, being the firstborn child to the Burminnster family. He got everything he wanted, he had maids taking care of him. Really it was the bee’s knees, and Raleigh was the happiest boy in the world. Granted, by the time he was five he was already kind of spoiled, but he was only a little shit when he didn’t get what he wanted, which was rare to never. Then in Raleigh’s fifth year on Windemelierre, his parents came to him with big news; Raleigh was going to get a baby sister! This didn’t excite him very much though, since it meant he might have to share his things. But when he complained his parents assured him that they didn’t love him any less, and all that. Raleigh was sated, for now. Some time later Primrose Maybelle Burminnster was brought into the world, and surprisingly enough Raleigh took to her right away. Well, it was about the time Raleigh was nine that his father came to him, real serious. Dad was talking about how Raleigh would be groomed to become the heir to the family business and riches and all that, and that he was going to be officially named at his tenth birthday party. Raleigh didn’t really understand it all, but he did know he would be getting everything his parents owned, so he just rolled with it. There was a big ceremony with all the families of Windemelierre in attendance, and the whole deal was pretty classy for a kid’s birthday party. After that life was pretty good, or at least Raleigh wanted it to have been. Two years after being named heir to the Burminnster fortune, and Raleigh was already hating the whole thing. Aside from getting along with Primrose, being groomed as the heir to a great fortune was something Raleigh hated. He wanted all the stuff but none of the responsibility. But, there wasn’t anything he could really do about it. Besides being a bit of a brat, Raleigh was at a loss. This went on until he got to highschool, and all the while Raleigh’s attitude was getting worse and worse. By his freshmen year he was ready to break out. See, Raleigh had been sent to a rather prestigious school called Rookwood, but the pressure was already reaching a boiling point. Well, a few months at Rookwood went by, and Raleigh wasn’t really adjusting. Or rather, his attitude was a constant problem. His grades were floundering, and he had a knack for picking fights or arguing with teachers for seemingly no reason at all. Raleigh was issued a lot of warnings, even suspended at one point. They hoped this influential child would reform his ways with more harsh punishment, but even when the suspension was lifted Raleigh didn’t return to classes. In fact, he had disappeared from the island, reportedly having set sail on his private ship. Now a truant in addition to his other offenses, Raleigh’s parents received a letter stating that their son was being “discharged” from the school. They weren’t all too thrilled. As it turns out, Raleigh’s parents were the opposite of thrilled; they were also at a loss. They had no idea what to do to reign in their son, who was becoming more and more out of control as time went by. There didn’t seem to be any real trigger either, it was just like Raleigh had snapped under pressure. Something about expectations just really made him uncomfortable, so now he sailed around with his other young and rich friends, with no real responsibilities. Raleigh spent the next few years partying, and partying hard. He surrounded himself with all sorts of rich, entitled, pompous people, and he got himself into all sorts of troubles. Raleigh especially loved to visit clubs and drink, then get rowdy and get kicked out. He got into a number of fights. At one point he bought a small island to throw a huge event on, but in the process accidentally burned the entire jungle area into cinders. He doesn’t remember exactly what happened, but it involved a bonfire and more than a few drinks. Another time Raleigh purchased a marine boat after a brief (2 hours before bailout) stint in a local prison, and once aboard he sailed it out to sea alongside a friend’s yacht, and then proceeded to sink it by crashing it into a reef. He then lit the sinking wreckage on fire. At one point Raleigh even shelled out a small fortune for a devil fruit, because why the hell not right? Anyways, as before mentioned this went on for a number of years. Raleigh’s parents were feeling pretty damn fed up with his antics, and they especially didn’t like the fact that Raleigh did the bare minimum to stay in the good graces of his family as the Burminnster Heir. So with that in mind they decided to finally deal with their overly rebellious son. See, generally speaking Raleigh could go around buying what he wanted because he had stupid amounts of money, but suddenly it just stopped coming in. He didn’t even realize it until he was about to buy a bar establishment in order to spite someone he had met inside, but didn’t have the cash to do so. So he went to his yacht and checked his portable treasury, but no new deposits had been made. It was odd; typically Raleigh got his money through courier service, but no such thing had arrived recently. Raleigh waited a few days before receiving just an ominous letter which simply read “We need to talk. -Sincerely, Your Father.” Raleigh was mad. He was livid, even. How dare his father not give him his money? Raleigh was entitled to that money! He was going to become heir some day soon, so naturally that money was his to do with what he wished. He made the trip back home to Windemelierre at record speed, and for once the young playboy wasn’t partying the whole trip away; Raleigh’s expression was a somber one most of the way, until he was stepping off the boat and it became one of anger. He walked up to the mansion doors and pushed them open, leaving his escort behind. Raleigh had intended to leave and go back to partying right away. What he didn’t expect was his mother and father waiting in the grand hall for him. The conversation that came next was quite one sided for the better part of it. Raleigh’s father went on to say that his son had been incompetent and rash with his money and himself, and set a bad image not only for himself but for the Burminnster family as a whole. Reginald Burminnster continued to hammer home this point, citing the burnt down island among other things. He said that Raleigh needed to stay at home and take some time off the party scene to shape up. Raleigh’s father didn’t want to take away the boy’s money, but he felt like he had no other choice. He tried to be sympathetic to his son.. But Raleigh was still very immature, and very angry. Thanks to a short temper and false feelings of inadequacy in his parent’s eyes, Raleigh returned his father’s words with anger. He really opened up on them, and while it’s not worth it to cite him word for word, it’s suffice to say that Raleigh said a lot of terrible, hurtful things to his parents. The kind that make your mother cry even though most of it isn’t even true, like how they never loved him and melodramatic crap like that. Reginald and Eden weren’t entirely sure how their son turned out so wrong, but Raleigh’s dad felt like he knew the answer. After much shouting Raleigh stormed out, now certain that he would get what he wanted. He charted his ship away from the isles back to party land, certain that his money would come soon. Instead the playboy got nothing until a week later via the snail tv. In order to salvage the family name the Burminnsters had to act soon. At their next charity event Raleigh’s father took to the podium with a solemn face. He stated that in light of recent events that he did not wish to discuss, Raleigh Notadam Burminnster was hereby disowned of the Burminnster family name, and no longer entitled to any of their wealth or status. He continued and said that Primrose Maybelle Burminnster was the new heir, whereupon she took the podium and gave a practiced speech. Apparently this had been in the works for awhile. After that Raleigh’s boat was repossessed, his belongings taken away, his funds seized; even his friends started ditching him. At first Raleigh could only be upset. He managed to secure some pocket cash, which for him was around one hundred million, but he squandered it away in his rage on all sorts of dumb things. And by dumb things I mean he kept trying to live his life the same way, because he didn’t know anything else. After a few months he was entirely out of cash, out of ways to set sail, and out of ‘friends’. The few guys who actually liked Raleigh still had to stop talking to him, if only to keep their good images intact. For probably the first time in forever Raleigh was actually alone, but this only made him angrier. He rampaged about as well as a broke person can, somehow making it from island to island. He started a record number of brawls in this time, and if he hadn’t been able to keep a small part of his wardrobe he probably would have looked like a complete bum. Instead Raleigh just looked like an angry socialite, down on his luck. After awhile it was just too much. Raleigh was forced to think rationally for the first time in awhile. And with nothing to his name but some suits and cigarettes, Raleigh thought hard. He realized he had been a bad guy, and he realized he had done some dumb shit. He had burnt every bridge that mattered literally and metaphorically and even wasted what little fortune he had left. With nothing left to lose Raleigh finally understood what it was to be accountable for his actions. It was too bad that he didn’t want to admit it though. For all his faults, Raleigh was still prideful. He would admit to himself his sins, but to say as much to his parents whom he had spurned in such grand fashion; well, he wasn’t ready for that. So for now he just traveled. Raleigh made ends meet somehow, sailing from place to place and taking any odd job that came his way. His rough personality probably seemed worse now, since Raleigh couldn’t just buy his way out of anything, but every now and then he had some genuine moments. A year passed by like this. It was probably the longest year of Raleigh’s life, so by his twentieth birthday he felt at least twenty-five. He felt like an adult finally. He never fell into complete destitution, and after awhile Raleigh actually had some flauntable amounts of cash. He never spent it however, instead hoarding it as though afraid to buy anything more than was necessary. Raleigh had become almost fearful of frivolity, and short of keeping his clothes clean and his cigarettes handy, Raleigh never bought much of anything. He had sort of become responsible in a year’s time, but he still didn’t feel himself a good person. There were (probably) no amount of deeds that would make him worthy of speaking to his parents, so Raleigh came to a conclusion. Or at least, another realization. To be able to go back home and apologize to the people he had hurt most, Raleigh would need to be a better person. Simple as that. More than responsible or hard-working, he needed to be someone that was worthy of redemption. So now Raleigh sails around, making ends meet and trying to be a better guy in general. He’s still pretty rough around the edges, and even rough in the center sometimes, but he at least has a vague idea of a life goal. Still, his grand reunion is probably far away, so in the mean time Raleigh is doing his best to find something bigger than himself, something he can really work towards. He’s just trying to find his purpose. Edited by Leens, Sep 2 2015, 04:20 AM.

Abilities and Possessions Combat: Like a caged animal with nothing to lose Raleigh takes to battle like a tiger, or some other powerful and imposing thing. He doesn’t have any deep fight philosophy, nor does he have any formal training; his skill stems purely from natural talent and lots of illicit brawls. Raleigh is the type who has a hard time backing down from a challenge, and as such has to try very hard not to pick fights all the time. When he does do battle, however, Raleigh is not the kind of guy to pull punches. He goes in full force and tries to end things, no finesse necessary. As far as tactics are concerned, Raleigh is a smart guy. If he realizes he needs to take something in an unorthodox direction, he’ll do whatever he has to to win. He’s no army general or great leader, but he’s capable of taking commands if they come from someone who doesn’t bother him. Beyond that, he is observant and capable of making complex plans. Again though, he’s not the type who likes to give orders. Typically, Raleigh prefers mano e mano combat. He doesn’t like interruptions and he doesn’t care for complicated battles, but as mentioned before he’ll do what he has to. Despite his short temper, Raleigh’s role in a fight falls more to a defensive sort, since he’s been trying to curb his anger lately. He generally uses his strength to pressure his opponents into unfavorable positions and to set his own pace in a fight. While not quite as quick or enduring as some people, he makes great use of his physical prowess. He’s especially keen to smashing things, though that tends to hurt. His overall style isn’t particularly sophisticated. Weaponry: The Suit Gloves Boxing Gloves - " Items and Stuff! Power of Friendship!
