Character Template [-----] ![]() Account Name: forgottenQuestioner ![]() Basic Character Information Name: Wilhelm Sveltznik Nickname: Age: 24 Gender: Male Race: Human Affiliation: Other Threat: 0 Achievements: Profession: Entertainer An entertainer makes his/her living through putting on shows. This profession is always specialized towards a specific type, and includes Dancer, Musician, Juggler and many more. Knowledge granted is job-specific. Entertainers can use their performance skills, be they song, dance or anything else, to influence others and use them as various buffs. Doctor A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew. Weapon Specialist A much more general fighter-type profession, a Weapon Specialist is someone who has to a large or small degree devoted his/her life to the mastery of a single weapon or weapon type, such as Swords, Axes or Whips. This profession applies generally to melee weapons. Inventor An Inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. They have good insight in how blueprints work, and can upgrade weapons, build gadgets and battle engines if they have enough materials. Position: ![]() Physical Appearance Height: 5' 9" Middling build falling on the thin side Weight: 167 Lbs Thin Hair: The top of his head is bald and the sides/back is short and spiky light greyish brown. Eyes: Bright Green Clothing/Accessories: Wilhelm wears a long white canvas coat with a high collar, the sleeves of which are extremely long. Underneath it he wears a thin short sleeved dark grey shirt. Around his waist he has a white canvas belt that slides into his coat. He has a pair of grey wool pants on that fit snugly against his legs. He wears a pair of dark grey boots made of light leather. During his performances he will often get all of these spattered with an array of brightly colored paints. He loves seeing how everything looks when he takes them off for the night. On his head he wears a white lacquered wood helmet that has a bit of grey padding on the inside. A pair of eye holes on the front are the only adornment on it. When he wants to express emotion visibly Wilhelm with release some paint in a color that fits the emotion and paint an expression on the helmet. He carries a now very colorful rag to wipe it off when he’s done. (The helmet is merely cosmetic and has no mechanical value.) General Appearance: Wilhelm has several severe burn scars all over his body. The worst of which is on his head, it has left him rather disfigured removing a chunk of his nose and some of his lips as well as most of the hair on top of his head. He wears a helmet at all times to prevent others from seeing this. His remaining hair is usually cut short and forms a ragged burst from the back of his head. He is lean and fit with a middling build. He has a slightly tanned complexion, although his face is rather pale from being hidden constantly. His hands and feet have strong calluses from undergoing his master’s training regimen. Spoiler: click to toggle ![]() The Character Personality: Wilhelm has a very cautious personality, he tends to try and figure out things that he doesn’t understand before acting. He likes people very much and attempts to interact with them when possible, he doesn’t have a ton of social skills because of his master’s strict training and lax attention to teaching him about dealing with things socially speaking. His art is his main drive as it has been the only thing pushing him forward for a long time so he tends to often think in terms of it. Color, form, style, etc. This can grate on people as very few really want to sit there and listen to a man go on forever about a single topic. Despite this tendency he’s pretty good with people as long as such subjects are not broached. Hometown: Born on the Island of Morris, was a vagabond for most of his life. History: The Calm Before the Frau Wilhelm doesn’t remember much about his early life, there are a few faint muddled memories of long lost hopes, dreams and fears that surface now and then. A soft word, a fleeting hug, but he doesn’t even remember his parents faces at this point. What he’s pieced together through the years is that he was the child of a rather normal family from a small fishing village called “Morris” in the East blue. His first solid memories are of the lighthouse when he was six. His brothers, or were they sisters? Had gathered around and were talking of a rumour that had been the talk of the town. Someone had been seen around the old abandoned lighthouse late at night. None of them had done anything about it but that night he had snuck out of his window and went to see it for himself. When he arrived he hadn’t found anyone inside, there were strange strings of pretty paper that stunk though. Climbing to the top of the moss covered wooden structure he’d looked over the darkened town in wonder. As he stood there, the cool breeze in his hair he’d heard some sort of hissing sound. The next thing he remembered was the loud boom and the fire. The explosions didn’t stop and neither did the flames, colored sparks cascaded everywhere and lit more fires. He’d stumbled against the railing in a vain attempt to get away from it all. A falling piece of burning timber knocked him to the ground scalding his face, before he blacked out he saw a strange pair of shoes. When he woke up he was bandaged, the world around him swayed oddly. Trying to stand a firm hand pushed him back down. That was the first time he saw Fräulein Madeleine Snaug. As he would learn when he fully recovered, Snaug claimed she was a major player in something called the “Vast Arts”. Tonight's “Performance” had been another one of her masterpieces. She claimed that she had created something beautiful from a structure that was in her words “worthless”. It was explained to Wilhelm that since he had gotten caught up in her performance that she would have to take him on as a protege since she wasn’t going to go back to the island now that her piece was done. Wilhelm remembered not being quite sure of what to make of her, she always had this deadpan way of talking. It was, and still is, hard to really get a read on what she really means. Either way that was the beginning of what could be called his “training”. What does a Frau care? His first half decade with Snaug was long and tense. She strictly taught him all she could cram into his young mind, from medicine to an understanding of the underlying principles of mathematics and mechanics she even taught him how to defend himself. She was a renaissance woman and expected any protege of hers to follow in her footsteps. Snaug would often disappear for days before returning and suddenly setting sail toward a new destination. Leaving just enough supplies for him to survive these absences. Once she felt she had a grasp on her student she decided she was going to indoctrinate him into the “Vast Arts”, she filled a room on the ship with different types of artistic media and told the boy not to come out until he had chosen and used them to make something that she would accept. After being locked in the room for days and trying multiple times to present something that Snaug would accept. In his desperation Wilhelm eventually managed to make an abstract painting she took an odd interest in. Years later he would look at it and think that it was strange that she accepted this particular piece, nothing in it really seemed special. But from that point her goal was to teach him to become a painter of the Vast Arts. At this point Snaug would drop him off in what seemed like random locations for weeks. Once he found himself on a rolling plain with a small amount of food, several canvases and a bunch of paints. Stuck to the top was a note dictating that he must “Paint seven landscapes by the next full moon, do not get eaten by the local fauna.” Another time he found himself at the top of a extremely tall tower that seemed to have no way down with the note “Make five perfect perspective paintings, there is enough food to last you one week.” Snaug never really said what would happen if he did not finish her requests but Wilhelm was extremely careful to make sure they were done. Lessons continued in the time between these “tests” and he learned much more about the world of the body and mind. As he became more competent Snaug began to change her methodology, “So you can do it? Do it faster!”. Speed became her focus and her tests became about doing it quickly, accurately and under whatever conditions she saw fit. Wilhelm became more and more paranoid on every forced excursion, it felt like Snaug was just over every hill or wall. Watching, waiting grading. And Where Have All the Fraus Gone? once she deemed that he had reached a point she deemed “satisfactory” she declared that it was time that he was inducted in as a “Vast Artist”. She showed him the hole in her hand and told him that it produced a strange substance that was extremely volatile. Her mentor had assisted her with making it back when she was inducted and she would assist Wilhelm with creating a similar one, one that would produce paint. Her mentors had produced and acid that he used to etch objects with. She observed and helped him while he did the necessary research to perform such a procedure. Eventually he was ready and everything was prepared, when he emerged he was, as she put it “A true Artist of the Vast Arts”. Snaug said that now that he was ready she would initiate phase two. With that she inserted a needle into the back of his neck, when he woke up he was in a strange place with many adventures to come. ![]() Abilities and Possessions Combat: Wlihelmh has no formal style but fights with a giant paintbrush, prefering defense over offense. Jack of All Trades (1 Trait) – The character is able to master multiple skills, and has become adept at a number of things. This character gains two additional secondary professions. Crowd Control (1 Trait) – Due to the nature of their skills, their performances will affect basically anyone who can see and hear them. Buff techniques used by these entertainers will have the same maximum effect as if they were affecting a group of targets one crowd tier smaller than the size of the crowd the technique was intended to effect. Skill in Upgrades (1 Trait) – These fellows are amazing at what they do, such that they can do it for a much lower cost. All technological upgrades that they make to weapons get a 20% discount. This discount applies only to the inventor themselves, and not weapons made for others. Mad Scientist (1 Trait) – Paint Production Wilhelm has created a gland in his upper shoulder that produces paint, he has a small hole on his palm that releases it when he contorts his hand in the right way. The paint is normally white but he has three small patches on his right shoulder, when each is depressed it slightly changes the composition of the paint giving it color. Each of the patches corresponds to a primary color, depressing them in combination produces a color that is a combination of the original colors. All three being depressed produces black, in order to get more nuanced colors he must mix . He can produce his bodyweight in paint in an hour. The paint dries quickly, taking about a minute to dry once exposed to air. It’s harmless if ingested and can be washed away with water.

The heading graphic just reminds me of... ART ATTACK. Specify that the Giant Paintbrush is Tier 1 Material quality (or don't... but it'll be pretty useless outside of being the catalyst for your buffs...) It may also be prudent to specify that the wooden helmet is untiered mechanically, or -if you so choose and want to pay some beli- that it's also Tier 1. Please denote the relevant crowd-tier (affected crowd-tier, not the number used for calculations thanks to Crowd Control trait) for each buff technique. |
