Kamina arched a brow. He was, he thought, fairly surprised to hear that Djazz had even slightly mentioned him. It wasn't that it was a dumb move, or something that was out of place in most situations, just that he thought Djazz would have had no reason to. However, from the way Gin had said it, it seemed as though Djazz had spoken rather highly of him, in some way, shape, or form, considering how much this man seemed to respect the beast king's work. He wasn't entirely certain why or how it was 'obvious', but perhaps that was something he would leave for another time entirely. What surprised Kamina more, however, was the fact that apparently the 'Golden Foundation' had been a goal for him, and, in fact, he was interested in joining. At least, that's what Kamina had assumed, based on the excitement that flooded his eyes. It was amusing, Kamina thought, how quickly this man could change from his sophisticated facade to one of clear--almost boyish--excitement, reflecting on the dreams and goals he was looking to make reality. It was this that made Kamina actually consider training him, and actually considered the thought of an organization that actively sought to bring down the World Government; he himself did not share this wish. "Is that so?" Kamina stated after a pause, going back to stroking his goatee. "Well, me and Djazz fought each other. During that moment, I understood him as a man, and fighting alongside him helped me accept him into the family," Kamina stated, telling the other man what sort of experience he had with him, if only in the most minimal of ways. "Should you show yourself with a heart similar to his, or at least prove yourself, I do not see why you would not be able to share the same honor as he," He raised a brow, tempted to warn him that, indeed, if he would gain such a name, he would be sworn to secrecy until such time the Golden Foundation gets back on its feet. Yet, at the pit of his stomach, he somehow knew this man would not be so foolish as to make such a mistake. More than that, he knew baring the name 'G. Fist' in public would go against his expressed goals, and that alone was enough to give Kamina a sense of insurance, should he allow the man to join. However, this was not how the Golden Foundation generally operated; all were welcome, yet, after the betrayal that led to the fall, and how weak they were at the moment, new recruits had to prove themselves both capable and trustworthy. Trust was not something to be given lightly or taken advantage of. "Very well. Djazz and Leander seem to be, as I think, accounted for, as well as Godric. We will see how time changes things, if at all," Kamina stated with an air of confidence, before his eyes followed Gin as he moved. Kamina's lips curved into a smirk, before he nodded knowingly at a thought. "As expected. Izuru, despite the nature of his fruit, has a very hot head. Based on what he's doing, he's almost begging for the World Government to come down on him; despite how strong he thinks he is, he cannot even take on an Admiral by himself. They are...special cases," Kamina stated, knowing vaguely about their powers. They were not individuals that could, even with a good plan and a lot of power, be taken down by oneself. Not with what he, Leander, and Izuru were capable of. In fact, Kamina was doubtless to anyone he knew that could, aside from the Yonkou Asparte, who he was aware was likely keeping tabs on him as they were speaking then, defeat on of those admirals in single combat. And while single combat was Kamina's strong suit, he would be left very much incapacitated if he struck out them alone. However, facing the might of a Yonkou was a much grander task. He could not defeat one alone. Ever. And this was much more so than any Admiral; at least he could group up and use general tactics against them. A Yonkou? He would need more time and information, still. Yet, Kamina pushed these thoughts aside, as this was neither the time nor the place. Gin had returned with a large pitcher, which the large former vice admiral scooped up in his right hand, and--for the first time--smiled, before downing it as though he were someone who had been dehydrated for years on end, and finally found enough to quench his thirst. Kamina stared with a frown, genuine worry seeming to etch his face; he was far less worried about the man getting himself hurt, and more about other getting hurt. Brier was a bad drunk, and the beast king knew it. Even if it took quite a bit to even get him tipsy, there was no telling how much he had before coming aboard the ship, and the smell of sweet alcohol seemed to waft of his body in thick volumes; it nearly made the beast king sick. No worse for wear, however, Mr. O'denshi wiped the remaining liquor from his mouth with his left forearm, upholstering his rifle and looking over it, before loading it and taking it off its safety. Kamina looked on, warily, as he watched the other man eye Gin pointedly, before the large man clapped the much smaller, much younger man on the back, clearly gracious to get his drink, and much harder than he probably should have. With a sigh of relief, Kamina realized Brier had had his fill. "Very good! What year and brand is this? I don't usually drink any of the fancy stuff; it takes a lot of alcohol to get on, and the stuff can be expensive. That tasted good, though," The large man said heartedly, pointing his gun at the tree line; his eyes seemed to focus, and he squinted the them tight, those storm grey pupils seeming to catch something in the light. With a single shot, and the resulting death throws of some large, predatory animal, the man hostered his large weapon again, one handed. When he shot, he didn't seem the slightest bit affected by the recoil. "Got it." "Quit showing off. You and I both know that wasn't necessary," Kamina chided, clearly irritated by the whole affair. Obviously, though, there was a hint of amusement in it, as if he found the idea that this man had to show off in front of the younger of the three--given Kamina was well aware of how strong he was, and what he could do--and wondered where that came from. Perhaps it was just him trying to gain some form of superiority, so that Gin knew not to mess with him, either. But perhaps, more than that, he disliked how he was forced to retire, lest he get a knew body, and was envious of the other man for his ability to continue to gain rank within the marines. He was always bitter like that, Kamina thought, so perhaps it wasn't a stretch. However, there was one thing more interesting than that. No matter how much Gin wanted to try, if the mood struck him, he was incapable of sensing anything from the man, save the clear output of strong willpower. It was obvious that, somehow, the man was masking his effective strength, and he didn't even exist among the auras seen, if one were to try and find him. Kamina was none the wiser to this fact, due to his inability to utilize haki at the moment, but perhaps this was a feat to be considered by the young marine. Kamina coughed, before shaking his head. "Now then! I did say that I would consider training you, and would put you through a testing process. My friend, Brier, is going to go map the area for me. As soon as he does, I will be sending you to hunt some of the beasts here," Kamina stated, remembering that this was very much like with the time he dealt with Zain. Only this time, however, he would stay and actively watch over this one, taking special care to see exactly what will happen at every point, unlike with Zain, where he simply left him to the wild to survive. "You'll go in unarmed, without the use of your haki. This will likely occur in a few hours," Kamina stated, directing a pointed look at the ex marine, who shrugged. "Give me around three. Five if you want me to give a completely detailed mapping," He stated, his voice dripping with exhaustion, as if he was already expecting a complaint. "Three? Five?! Are you serious? I thought your abilities would go far beyond that sort of thing. I suppose I should get a new tracker," Kamina stated, the sides of his mouth twitching; it was clear he wasn't wholly serious about what he was saying, with an extrange of nods and a locking of eyes, Brier was gone, clearly using soru--for any who were aware of its existence, namely the two men who were left on the deck--to move away, a disgruntled look plastered on his face as he went. Kamina coughed again, before smiling. "Alright. We have some hours ahead of us, then. I suppose we can use this time to relax; we can save all the tense times for when training officially starts," Kamina mused, looking rather relaxed. "Until then, anything you want to ask me? Concerns? Maybe just small talk to pass the time..." And just like that, things were starting to pick up...sort of. Edited by SvenFold, Jul 27 2015, 02:18 PM.

The fact that Kamina agreed that it could be possible for him to join the Golden Foundation, caused that light in his eyes to grow. Excitement was obvious, and he had difficulty keeping control over himself before he slowly calmed and managed to shift back into his normal mentality- though there was a curl at the corners of his lips. Excitement, for the possible future if nothing else. Slowly he leaned forward and listened as the older man explained that he had fought Djazz and become brothers in arms- and he slowly intertwined his fingers as he nodded slowly in thought. So he was a true member then .. it was surprising, but he supposed it made sense. Slowly Gin leaned back as he debated what having the title would mean- on a personal level it would be proof to himself that he was worth the time and effort he was pouring into himself as well as the effort others were putting into him. It was a signal that he could become strong, become worth something. A smile played at his lips as he considered that thought- because on the flip side, no one would ever know except other members of the family. He could not afford to flaunt the title sadly, not as a Marine- not until he officially turned in the public eye and he couldn't afford that just yet. He needed his station to much, as it was the government was already hunting 'Dragon' his underground title as a Crime Lord and blackmarket information broker. Kamina's voice brought him free of his train of thought, as he nodded lightly at the confirmation of Djazz, Leander, and Godric. Slowly he nodded in agreement with the man's words about Izuru, it was true- "With recent developments I don't think he'll be holding his position for much longer. He is strong .. he could probably handle some of the more experienced Vice Admirals, but an Admiral would be far to much for him to handle." He murmured in thought as he slowly opened his eyes and blinked a few times as he pondered just that- though it was true right now Izuru probably couldn't handle a Admiral; he realized that this group he was founding, if he could make it truly come to be- could. Hell, by that point in time they may even manage to take on all of the Admirals and win with the right time, preparation, and information. Though that was a dream far in the future. Instead Ginjo's eyes found the much larger man's as he gulped down the 'mug' of alcohol and simply accepted the empty 'cup' and set it down once more as the retired, older marine set it down and seemed to be rather content with it. He was glad- if there was one thing Ginjo was good at splurging on, it was his booze, medication, and his smokes; because god knows he would go insane from his dementia, insomnia, and other mental issues if he didn't have a constant, steady stream of both in his system. The other man seemed to notice just how good it was, before he decided to show off- and release the blast of the gun. He sensed the life-force of the powerful dinosaur go down without a beat, and though he did not look intimidated- he did look impressed. It was much like how he had been when he saw Kamina, the respect was there, as was the acknowledgment of the mans power- but he would not be intimidated ether. Without missing a beat, showing that he had specifically chosen the drink to give him some of the better booze, he replied to the older retired marine. "Bronzebone, aged fifty one I believe." He intertwined his fingers once more as he relaxed; "There's another bottle in there if you're partial too it- they make good whiskey and rum. I don't recommend their other drinks though." he nodded lightly, before his eyes trailed toward the air around the man. Nothing. Even Kamina gave off overwhelming power, as did the stronger Dinosaurs of the Island. Yet he felt nothing from this man, there were techniques to cut one off from the natural sensory that Haki gave? His eyes narrowed a bit at this, before Kamina broke him out of his analytical trance and he focused on him instead. Nodding at the explanation of what exactly he had in mind as he tapped his foot in thought, and slowly reached up as he removed the elegant Katana of golden, red, and ivory that held several switches and triggers near the hilt of the blade. He set its end against the wood of the deck simply as he would wait and listen to the two men go back and forth. Three to five hours? That was enough time for him to prepare mentally. Slowly he would lean forward as he crossed his fingers and watched the larger man disappear in the Soru, before he would raise the elegant blade and offer it to Kamina without a hint of bitterness of fear. "First trigger is gas, second is flames, third is heat. Holding down the Gas causes explosions if done in a burst." He explained it short and to the point encase Kamina decided to toy with it- he didn't want the man to blow himself up or singe his wardrobe, or destroy his ship because he wanted to see what the blade did. Better to just warn him ahead of time. He then blinked and lowered his hand as he sipped his drink a moment, before tilting his head curiously. "You mentioned training Leander and .. Zain? What was the training for the Revolutionary like?" He asked curiously, partly because he wanted to learn from the past failures mistakes, and partly out of general curiosity as a whole. |

It was terribly unfortunate that the older marine could not stay. In fact, the man thought as much, as he really did want to exhaust the young man of all the expensive alcohol that he would give. As he landed off the ship, he sprinted forward, heading north, towards the very creature he had originally felled. Despite what his co-conspirators might have thought, it was very necessary to shoot and kill the animal, as it served to draw the attention of any large beast bold enough to encroach on the kill of a clearly powerful predator. Any creature--or creatures--that bold needed to be collected and categorized in his memory banks for future encounters. Not just for himself and his business, mind you, but also for the end's of his partner, who seemed content to have all the nasty beasts under his thumb; big, scary, and fairly powerful were the descriptors the beast king had used when he told the large man to go looking for targets. And, to that end, he was paid handsomely, and would more than fill this sort of thing. The real question was, though, were those words in relation to the beast king himself, or to the young man who would be set against them? While it was more likely to be the former, Brier decided it wouldn't hurt to add the latter as well, if at all possible. He smiled a slow, dark smile. Kamina took the katana in his hands, holding it as thought a nurse would hold a small child. His eyes traced over it--its buttons, its almost glowing metal, its inner workings--and he cradled it in his arms, observing the wooden sheath casually. "Wood. Interesting choice," Kamina stated, realizing that the rest of the set was not made of the same material. Obviously. But it seemed odd to use wood to house such a thing, given its nature. "This metal is...basic. Strong. Sturdy. But with no bells an whistles," He said calmly, one part disappointed and one part interested. He, personally, had not seen or heard of the this metal before, but at the same time it wasn't necessarily surprising. There were many metals in the world, and so many that a smith had created themselves, sometimes on complete accident. It wasn't exactly a stretch to see other materials as durable as seastone, as many of those have been surfacing recently, and Kamina himself had already created one such metal, currently being used by Djazz. "...There's so many dials." "So strange...it seems to be crying," Kamina stated, not even sure what that meant himself. He was, however, fairly engaged with the weapon, yet, as he seemed to be finished, he stood, proper, gazing off in the distance of the island nearby. He took one look back, before holding the still-sheathed blade tightly in his right hand, before turning away from the male--ignoring his quiry for the time being--and cocking back his arm that the blade hand was on, and letting it loose, watching it sail over the sky at extreme speed and form, before it arced in mid air--flipping end over end--before stabbing itself deep into the ground somewhere deep in the island. If Gin wanted to cheat, he could probably figure it out using his observation haki, yet that, too, seemed to be a test. And Kamina gave no guesses as to what the right answer could have been. "I have no need for swords," Kamina stated simply, giving no explanation for why he had thrown the man's sword, no apology, and no further thought on the matter. It was really that simple when it came to his reply, and he moved back and took his seat, as if nothing had happened at all. "...Which one?" Kamina asked, his lips curving into a smirk, now acknowledging how his training with 'the revolutionary went. The term 'revolutionary' could be loosely given to anyone who apposed the World Government directly, just as 'pirate' was typically tailored to any who broke the law, even if the old definition was a little more specific. More than that, though, Kamina knew that Leander had once been a revolutionary, and--let him tell it, sometimes--he would still say he was one. However, Kamina was well aware that Gin was more than likely talking either about the both of them, or simply Zain. In either case, Kamina was wise enough to go ahead and answer without much care as to whether or not it would enlighten the other man or not. For him, this was just so he could pass the time, and perhaps see more about the man's personality. "I set him into the wilds to fend to himself, in a place much like this, which creatures much like this. I took his weapon, forced him to to use his devil fruit, and watched him work, grading him on his performance," Kamina stated casually, not even bothering to be specific about which one he mentioned. "He passed, if only barely. Then Zain went off and got himself killed, taking my advice the wrong way. For some reason, Zain thought my training would allow him to fight Leander, and even win. He lost some limbs; I'm sure you heard about how Leander sent them to the fleet admiral, though I'm not sure they ever actually got there..." Kamina stated, this time showing his genuine lack of knowledge. He never really bothered to check up on that, though maybe this was a good time to find out. "I built Zain new limbs. This is where he actually got himself killed. Tried to go fight some group--who tried to poison me, mind you, through one of their packages they sent everywhere, to no effect, mind you--and was killed by their swordsman. That...was a little embarrassing on my part, but I really did like Zain," Kamina blinked, arching his right brow slightly. He was starting to understand why he was even bothering with this Gin fellow. "Perhaps, even, that's why I'm taking my time with you. He sort of reminds me of you, if a bit more air-headed and less refined," Kamina stated, a bitter taste in his mouth. He didn't want to ask, as he thought Gin smarter than that, and, frankly, above the sort of thing, but he also thought Zain would have been smarter to do what he did. "...You...don't have any unrequited vengeance that may have you trying to fight individuals far out of your league, do you? I mean, I understand that you hate the World Government, but I would very much like it if you don't have any surprises. Really," Kamina said, half teasing and half genuinely worried. A thought occurred to him, though. "...Leander is Leander. He lacks so much common sense, and...ugh, that small bit of training is not something I feel the need to go through. I settled on trying to give him advice one what he could do to work on his strengths--devil fruit and healing--and gave him minor physical conditioning training. Strong, but a lost cause," Kamina slapped his forehead with the palm of his right hand, before shaking his head; he consider bashing his head against a wall, if he didn't need to think straight, and he didn't think he'd wreck this nice ship in the process. "I like you, though, and I have some faith in you. Hopefully I end justified." Deep in the brush, the large ex marine next next to the now-ravaged body of the large t-rex he had shot down. He retrieved his bullet from its skull, just to be sure, and noticed the claw and bite marks littering it, clearly belonging to a much larger beast. And that was the surprising part. He knelt down next to a rather sizable, unfortunate brown substance, which had just begun to harden, sniffing it with almost feral intensity. "I see. This one's a biggin'. Best on the scent, it was just here, and-" He was cut off, just like that, as something leapt from the bush atop the man. The only thing that could be heard was his low, muffled yell. |

Ginjo watched as Kamina took the blade in his hands, as he examined the craftsmanship and he slowly placed his hands on his knee's and listened. As the words came forth- speaking of the wood, Ginjo's eyes seemed to darken slowly. ".. A gift, from my father. Carved by his hand." He murmured simply as his voice remained calm- and yet it was filled with something more then rage. It was the voice of a murderer, someone whom nearly embodied hatred as his eyes slowly opened as he stared at the blade in Kamina's hands. "He was a carpenter .. he loved to shape wood into things to help others. This was the gift he gave me when I crafted the blade with my mothers teaching." He explained simply as he struggled to remain calm. They had been peaceful. They had given up on being revolutionaries. They were raising a baby girl, his sister. They had been doing nothing but staying quiet in a little cottage enjoying their later years of life in peace- to be slaughtered, sister and all. The memories of their bodies caused his teeth to clench so tight that the young man seemed to loose himself for a moment, his gums nearly bled- before Kamina's words snapped him out of it. It seemed to be crying? Slowly, his head lowered at those words .. that seemed accurate. He hated that blade. He hated it because it reminded him of the love he once had for it, for being a symbol that reminded him of his family. Now it made him think only of his own weakness. How even after their deaths he was relying on dear daddy and mommy. How he had been to weak to protect them, or his sister. To warn them. How he had been to weak to save Dahlia. To save his teacher. He refused to cry. He refused to break- never again. Slowly his eyes hardened, darkened as he stared at that blade- and then he jerked, as Kamina hurled it into the Island. He stared, as if trying to debate how to react- it had been his parents work. If was the only momento that he had left from them. It was all he had, even Dahlia had left him nothing but a broken heart- filled with nothing but the void and hatred. Slowly, he closed his eyes- and he let it be for now. Kamina had no way of knowing, snapping at the man would solve nothing- it would do nothing but cause more pain. That thought made his eyes, though hardened focus on the man and listen to his tale. He blinked at Kamina's question- ".. Leander was a Revolutionary?" He asked curiously, despite the tone from before- he seemed to have effetively bottled his feelings for the moment. He slowly nodded as he listened to the words, so Zain was set off much as he then? His lip curled a bit in amusement at that thought- so they were more similar then he had thought it seemed. As the white maned man contineud with his story, he slowly leaned forward and intertwined his fingers in thought- the words that he had tried to take on Leander and shook his head slowly. "Idiotic .." he murmured mostly to himself, before the statement about his limbs was heard and he chuckled drly. "The limbs were found by a poor Ensign that got the package and was checking it for threats, I beleive. You can't just mail things to the Fleet Admiral." He then quieted as Kamina continued, and went on about being poisoned and how Zain went off to die against a swordsmen as he slowly shook his head and sighed. "That .. is rather bland end to a tale of a man that could have been much more. You know, originally he was in the ten I wanted to offer rings too .. when I first started to seriously work on the idea. Then he died." He stated rather blandly with a frown; "But I suppose in the end things can't be helped." Slowly his gaze met Kamina's own however as he was comapred to Zain- with the white haired logia being called more air headed and less 'refined'. ".. I suppose I matured rather quickly thanks to my past." He commentedly idly as he shrugged and took a drink once more, his tone was dry- but not offended by any means. It was good to know, actually. As Kamina asked him about 'vengeance' and 'fighting out of his league' he blinked and arched a brow slowly. ".. No. I tossed away pride a long time ago, I will run from a fight I know I cannot win- if I cannot run I will fight tooth and nail to make an opening so I can run. I will survive. No matter what." He stated this in a determined, and rather cold tone as if he had already set on refusing to die until his goals were met. Slowly he leaned his elbows on his knee's- "I don't have anyone important to me ether. Not anymore. Not left alive. So you have no need to worry about me running off to save some girl or friend ether." He stated drly- as if the idea of him falling in love again was foreign .. not after Dahlia. Not after what happened. Her dead eyes flickered through his mind and he clenched his glass a moment. Slowly, he relaxed as the conversation shifted toward Leander and he blinked and a small smile formed. "That .. is about the reaction I expected honestly from what I've heard. He seems to have alot of genius and potential- but with to much going on to push him over the edge." he murmured with a frown- before he blinked as his Haki flared and gave him warning, his eyes shooting toward where the older marine had landed and frowned. "Kamina .. is there a beast on the Island that could .. take you on?" He pondered as his haki flickered, it sensed a life-form, and yet for the first time he couldn't figure out an accurate sense on its power level, only that it was large. His eyes narrowed in confusion- two times now his Haki had been tricked, the hell was up with this Island? |

The island shook. It seemed as though what had just transpired had rocked the entire island. It was clear that a powerful beast had been slain, and the island had gathered in on itself, paying homage to this very fact. It was a terrible, nasty situation where the ecosystem would be changed forever. It was obvious that this was no small impact, as even the smallest of creatures felt the reverberation of the loss. It was some intense level of aftershocks. Kamina looked on at the other male, his words falling heavy on his mind. His expression had become quite serious with the question that followed, and it seemed it was something to be taken seriously. "No," The beast king stated, fairly easily, allowing the word to be his one and only answer. "However, there are beasts here that, if they work together, could bring me down, yes. Packs are the most dangerous things here, not individuals," Kamina stated, his expression softening. Whether he was lying or not was a complete mystery, as he didn't seem to give off any indication that he was. Yet, that meant nothing in the wake of the beast king, who could tell these lies and lead many astray with the same smile and sense of genuine honesty; a fact proven time and time again. Blood seeped into the earth bellow. A gun was left, bitten in half and thrown aside, the trail leading to it. The torn fabric of something camouflage was present, and among it a large creature of unimaginable size. Its fangs were brooding, its claws covered in blood, and its fur had bristled, indicating a recent confrontation. Its eyes stared forward, menacingly, its maw wide open, and its eyes dull, shining in the pale light of the forest. "Fuck," The ex marine stated, staring at his gun. He was covered in blood, and his eyes traced over the material with clear distaste. His expression was brooding, and his body language suggested that he was considerably pissed off. That was his favorite rifle, and he had brought it especially to deal with anything Kamina might have considered a threat. Which, he had thought, required the use of his favorite gun. Apparently not. Apparently its only purpose was to get ruined by some creature that inhabited a desolate forest full of annoyances. Yet, something was off. "That...was incredibly intelligent. It actually set a trap for me. Most of the time creatures get on down, even the big ones, because they don't want to get got themselves. This one was smart enough to stick around and try to off me while I had my guard down," Brier said to himself, knowing full well no one could hear him. He could always call Kamina, sure, but he wouldn't exactly live this one down if he let the beast king know. And he just couldn't have that. Instead, he flew off, looking to search the area for anything else interesting. But something else, something more subtle, also bothered the man. Animals generally attacked for two reasons; they felt threatened and cornered, and for food. This beast, however, had plenty of food in the dinosaur, and was perfectly capable of getting away. What did that say about it? "To answer one of your questions, yes, Leander was a revolutionary. Back in the day, when he ran with my brother, he was supposedly big on the revolutionary scene. Afterwards, if I recall, he made a group called the 'Black Rose Revolutionaries', or something to that effect. Not the best of names, sure, and just as equally not the most successful of groups," Kamina stated, almost disappointed it didn't go any further. Perhaps not because he didn't like the World Government, but for the entertainment value, if anything. The hint of wistfulness was very much clear. Kamina considered something, before looking towards where he saw the other, older man move, before his gaze settled back on Gin. "...By the way, why did you ask that? Did you sense something...off? Careful, Brier has that effect on haki users with--and don't take this as an insult--weaker wills. He won't really tell me why, but I have my suspicions," Kamina stated, smiling, before arching a brow. "...Who knows? One day, he may be able to teach it to you, whatever it is." Kamina let loose a sigh of annoyance. "...Yes, that's what I thought, too," He stated, almost offhandedly, referring to Zain's death. His way of speaking and addressing things always had to do with what he found interesting in order from greatest to least, so he did not always address things in order. A shame, really, as it made it seem like he was always going off of tangents--which he did, too, unfortunately--and it generally confused most, who were not used to it. "He had much talent," Kamina stated, letting that hang, for however Gin wanted to interpret it. Indeed, if comparisons were drawn between them, perhaps this, too, could be counted among that number. "Pity he had to waste it trying to change things too much, too quickly. I was actually betting he would be killed by the marines, once they stopped being idiots, rather than the pirates that did him in. Unfortunate, that, running into someone who was both crazy and a hater of marines," Kamina stated, before he narrowed his eyes, thinking about something. "... Which reminds me. I wonder if Zain's murderer has gotten himself killed or captured yet. I may...need to pay that one a visit." And then Kamina's expression became harder; sterner. It was something he saw in the other man's eye that triggered it. It was familiar because he was well aware of that expression. That hate, that rage. That sense of loss. Kamina locked gazes with Ginjo, nodding, his expression understanding. "You have lost someone on the field of battle as well, I see. Someone very dear to you," He stated calmly, eyeying the man with no small amount of care. "I have done the same. I know those eyes. I lost my wife in battle, to those who sought to harm me indirectly. I watched as her neck was ruthlessly snapped that day, and held her body in my arms; I never truly recovered," He stated, feeling comfortable letting loose this bit of information about himself. He had hated that moment. Had hated himself for being to weak to actually save her. He had hated the fact that he was far weaker than he could have ever wanted to be. He was beginning to understand why this man treated himself so. "Afterwards, I did not want to live. Losing her was losing a large part of myself; a part that could not be filled with any number of women I bedded. I was on a decline, and then," He blinked, shaking his head. "I met a woman who, though I felt no romance for, helped me understand that there is still light in this world. Though you do not have to listen to me, I find it would help you to search for something similar to bring you out of the darkness. Something pure. Something that feels real and naturally unobtainable, unblemished by this world's hate.." Edited by SvenFold, Jul 27 2015, 05:35 PM.

Gin grunted a bit as he felt the shockwave from the beast, his Haki fluxed as the impact of its death seemed to fill the island and his eyes narrowed as he eyed the area that the older marine had disappeared to. As Kamine reponded, he slowly nodded- if there was nothing here that could take him, then he was sure an X-Vice Admiral would be fine. It seemed the life force had been driven back anyway. slowly his eyes settled back on the white maned older man as he sipped from his drink and arched a brow, noting that comment as he slowly nodded. "Such as the raptor packs I sensed .. I stayed clear of them when I sensed them." he pondered with a frown. Slowly he crossed his ankles and listened as Kamina talked about the 'old times' so to speak. Of a time when Leander was apparently a Revolutionary (who knew?) and blinked a few times as he commented about him running with Kamina's brother- he didn't know that was an actual thing that had happened. Then; there were many things he didn't know- no matter your intelligence and communication branches one could never truly find out about 'everything'. He leaned forward and scratched his chin in thought- perhaps Leander was a better asset to the group after all, if he could re-stir the man's revolutionary heart, who knows. Perhaps he could get the man to actually realize the dream once again instead of being what he was right now. Sometimes all a beast needs is someone to point it in the direction after all. However as Kamina asked about why he had asked the question he nodded a bit; "I already noticed I couldn't sense him- which intrigues me. However what caused the question was a spike of a strong energy near where he landed- and with the rumbles .. I was unsure. I doubted something here could kill one of you, but it was still worth asking to be sure. I'm sure he's fine, there hasn't been a swarm of energy toward the spot as if they were trying to feed so something probably just jumped him and got scared off." He explained simply as he intertwined his fingers. A nod was the response to the fact about Zain, and he frowned a bit at the way Kamina seemed to be a bit downtrodden by the fact the boy had died so quickly. Still, he blinked as the comment about 'talent' was heard- he was not one to make assumptions, there was no way to say for certain that Kamina was saying that he had talent as well. still it was worth noting- if Kamina saw even a bit of talent in him then perhaps this would all be worth it in the end after all. He arched a brow however at the mention of Zain's killer- "Whom was the one that finally put him down ..? I could help locate him for you if you wish in all likelihood. Or at least, Dragon could." He snorted at the name he went by in the underworld. However, his thoughts were interrupted when Kamina brought up a .. sensitive subject. The way Kamina's eyes hardened and looked into his own, and the way that he seemed to speak of his own past- struck several cords in the young boy whom slowly lowered his head and looked into his cup. He was not one to spill out his soul and heart to someone- and yet he had to think; when was the last time he told anyone this? Never. Ever since the day it had happened he couldn't, because all of his allies were Marines or Blackmarket connections- neither could see his weakness. Slowly his grip tightened on the glass as he slowly closed his eyes and began in a very slow, deliberate- and agonized voice. ".. My parents were killed by the CP. I still don't know why. My baby sister was two years old, also slaughtered by their hand. I didn't know for six months- until I came to visit them and found their rotting corpses." He murmured as he stared into the cup- and cracks began to form in the glass as he continued. ".. My fiancee was killed the day I was going to marry her in secret, quite to just have peace. She was a civilian, a normal person- but she was half fishman, and she was killed for a group of human's racial hatred. She was pregnant." He murmured the last bit with such agony that one would think he had actually been stabbed, the cracks in the glass continued to spread. ".. My teacher was all I had left, he was the father of my fiancee .. he blamed me. He attacked me. I was forced to kill him." He murmured, and the last words were small- weak. "I didn't mean too .. I was so angry .. at everything .." The glass shattered in his grasp as shards of it fell, nicking his flesh as a few drops of blood and the alcohol dripped to the floor. "I had students, I made friends- and they left me, or died because of my own weakness. I had other teachers, to find them slaughtered or have them die of age." There were no tears in his eyes, only pain- hatred, and emptiness. The boy was a walking tragedy. Nothing went right for him and he knew it- everything blew up in his face, no matter how many women he slept with, he couldn't feel love again. Every-time he killed someone, he felt another body piled underneath his feet, more blood added to his hands. He killed out of revenge and it bred more hatred, causing more to come hunt him down to be killed by him. Over and over the bodies fell to his feet and he was forced to keep moving and step on them to reach higher. He was coated in blood no one else could see, he had nothing- nothing but his one soul purpose left in life. To make sure what happened to him, never happened to anyone else ever again. To never let the twisted government, and racial hate of the world continue. He would die for that cause if that is what it took. |

Kamina considered this. He considered everything. He finally figured it out. When he looked at Gin, he saw a shining light. However, unlike Zain, this was different. Rather than seeming calm, and strong, and warm, staring at this man made Kamina think of burning cities. He knew men like this. When he saw him, he knew that Gin would either become an incredibly bright star, or wreckage in the middle of the sea. When he thought about this fact, he began to think about himself again, and why he did the things he did. They did not seem so different. In fact, they seemed frightfully similar. They both lost their significant other--Kamina's wife, Gin's fiance--their families, and even their faith. They had been young, bright-eyed boys who had slowly lost much of their innocence. And, funny enough? It was all due to intolerance, the World Government, and the World Government's intolerance. The difference between them, Kamina realized, was that Kamina had run into someone who could show him that their was hope. Yet...the beast king had not come here to hand out his life story or mend someone who had long been broken. That was not why they had made their plans. It was not why he was still here. At least...he didn't think it was. Yet...something tugged at his conscious. This was the sort of thing that made him want a drink; it was far too early to be having this conversation. It needed to end now. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to stop the other man from spilling his heart; he felt evil, yet he was by no means lacking interest. He just wasn't entirely certain what to do. What had she done, when they had talked at length? Was it her encouragement? Was it her company? Was it merely the fact that she was listening? Yes. Kamina would try, perhaps even for her memory, to help this man, and steer him away from the rocks. Or at least he would try. Kamina got up, dusting himself off, before turning his head to look at the sun. Time was passing, and, now, he was able to better understand the man before him, even more than before. It all became clear. "I'm sure you've heard of the buster call on my family. Perhaps not...you may have been too low ranked to know," Kamina stated, musing on the subject. "That was due to someone infiltrating our ranks...someone who betrayed us...I can't be certain. He was going to become an elder of the family, but apparently that honor was not good enough for him," Kamina spat, clearly irritated at the betrayal. He had, to an extent, trusted in that man, which made the reveal of his identity all the more crushing. But that wasn't even the worst part. "I watched as the marines marched on our island--which was meant to be a place of peace, where families of G. Fists went to live in relative harmony--and slaughtered the majority of us. The only ones spared were those who managed to escape, or those who were not on the island," It had been long since he had reflected on these things. Long since he felt he had to. It seemed to be clear in the shadows in his eyes, visible as he turned to look at the other male. "It didn't take long after that loss, where I believed my brothers and adopted father had perished, to lose my wife as well," He reflected on that moment, dropping his eyes, before staring back to the other male, the weight clearly visible. "She was also with child. I was unaware until the very end," He said the last part more bitter than the first, almost spitting the statement. "I will not say I understand your pain. I will not say I understand your loss, for you are not me, and you have your ways to deal and experience life's hardships," Kamina stated solemnly, not wanting to make it seem as though he pitied the man; he didn't. But he did feel the need to help one who had fallen under similar terrible fates. "I will say, however, that I have experienced something similar to what you have. I will say that you are not alone in your pain," Kamina turned his head, shaking it slowly. "And, more than that, even if you do not join the Golden Foundation, I am willing act as your brother--both in arms and otherwise--should you want it." He didn't mean to say it. He didn't feel as though he would have. Yet the words flowed, and, in the end, he felt conviction behind them; he meant it. He did not want to give his faith into someone he barely knew. Yet, a large part of him said that he knew more than he cared to admit. He had given more than the cared to admit. Yet, now that he thought about it, he didn't regret it; another brother did not seem terrible, even if he had lost so many already. He still did not know where the red skinned one was. Whatever the man would say, Kamina wanted to change the subject. This conversation absolutely had to end. He was far too tired for it, as he had given a large part of himself, and did not want to dwell on this fact--or the facts brought up by both himself and Gin--too long for it to affect him too badly. "...No, not like the raptor packs. Think more along the lines of creatures who could be considered the rulers of the island, banding together to attack one target. That sort of thing. It's unlikely, yet, if it did manage to happen..." Kamina closed his eyes, shaking his head. "...The result would be disastorous. Even for me and Brier. Perhaps, if they were a little smarter..." Brier skulked around the area, searching the place closely. The bush seemed...peaceful. And it was just this fact that made him anxious, as a place full of the type of creatures that it was could not--should not--possibly be this peaceful. It was a dangerous place with threats lurking around every corner, and so silence generally meant terrible things. Meanwhile, he had lost his favorite gun; he had replaced his rifle with a aged-looking silver revolver, which seemed to have both intimidating size and length. In fact, in any normal person's hands, it might have easily been mistaken for a very oddly crafted rife in and of itself. He smiled as the sun glinted off its metal, his guard risen to such a high extent that it was likely capable of scaring off most creatures by itself; any creature that could bite in half a rifle like that, made of what it was, could not have been normal. In fact, it shouldn't have even been possible. "I'd like to think," Brier rumbled, shaking his head. "...That the damned G. Fist was the one who brought these creatures here, and is merely messing with me. Yet...he doesn't strike me as an animal tamer..." So far, nothing was happening, but perhaps that would change. Large shadows were moving among the darkness, red, feral eyes gleaming. Kamina still worked on changing the subject. He felt he was going to make quite a bit of progress. "...Who put Zain down?" Kamina half questioned, attempting to bring it back up to the other male. "Someone named...Laquer. Or something odd. He is supposedly one of the world's greatest swordsmen, but who knows. I hear he is very capable of utilizing a similar technique to me, and can be considered a grandmaster swordsman," The title was said rather grandly, but it seemed to be the sort that went beyond merely being good at swinging your sword; as if there were some hidden meaning behind it, which transcended normal human 'skill'. There was also Kamina's own hint of pride as he said it, which implied he also considered himself a grandmaster in his own field. "Hmm...go ahead and track him down, if you wish. It may turn out that this is only a mild interest on my part." |

Pain. It was not something that he was unfamilair with- for his life was pain, agony. But the words that Kamina spoke seemed to ring something within him- As he heard the man talk of the past of his family, of his wife, the similarities were .. actually rather terrifying. They both had lost everything; their families, wives, unborn children, friends, siblings, parents- everything. However the difference was obvious, Ginjo was not drifting toward simple depression- he was always depressed. No, what radiated from him was pure hatred, a taint of darkness on his heart that if Kamina had Haki wwould likely be felt. It was not evil. Not yet- but the feeling like a bloodthristy beast radiated off of Ginjo's soul, and body, his very mind. He was slowly slipping into his rage, hatred, and desire for reveange. But he still was clinging to those childish ideals, desperate to not be devoured by his own despair and hatred, he was trying to stay on the right path as he slipped further and further down it day after day. He didn't want to destroy the government for his hatred. Hatred only bred hatred; and yet he couldn't help himself- he couldn't let it go no matter how hard he tried. His teeth clenched slowly; so he was doomed to always have it? He was going to be swallowed by his hatred, no matter how hard he faught it- because in the end he had no one to help him. He wasn't strong enough, he couldn't drag himself out of the muck that was his own hatred. He had no light, he had no joy, there was nothing but depression, hatred, and a desire for vengeance day in and day out. Then he heard it. For the first time in nearly three years- he heard words that were so similiar to his father that it hurt. That he was not alone in his pain. The same words that were engrazed in that sheath. The same words his father had always told him whenever he was hurt, sad, angry, or scared- that he would always be there, that someone would always be there. Kamina likely did not know the impact those words had- there were a dozen words that he could have chosen that meant the same general concept- and yet those were the words that had been said. It hurt. He slowly lowered his head, a brother? In arms, or beyond- family? Could he had family again? Would they not just die- like everyone else? Wouldn't they just abandon him, like everyone else? He had been through this so many times after his fiancee and parents- so many 'adopted family', so many women bedded to try to drown his sorrow in pleasure of the flesh. Yet this seemed different. This was not someone weaker then him saying this. This was Kamina. This was the man whom he had looked up to for years, this was the man whom was offering to train him to end his weakness- whom was so strong he ended a Commodore with a single strike. Slowly his jaw unclenched as his answer was simple, and his tone was almost scared- and yet there was a glimmer of something within it; something Ginjo had thought he had lost. Hope. ".. I would like that, I think." He murmured simply in response to the man as his eyes slowly raised and looked into the tired older man's own- so similar to his own, but so much wiser and so much more healed. It was unspoken, the conversation needed to end- but he did not regret bringing it up, he did not regret speaking of it for the first time since it had happened. He .. almost felt lighter, as if some small amount of weight that he was dragging around had been relieved, even if it was only slightly- it was more then he had removed from his shoulders for years. He let the conversation pass, an unspoken agreement between the two men. No more needed said, not now at least- perhaps in the future, bit by bit. But in the end it would change nothing, the offer had been given- and accepted. He slowly rested his wrists on his knee's as he nodded slowly in thought as he listened, "I suppose to me the Raptors are dangerous .. to you it would be more like puppies biting at your ankles .." he mentioned dryly as he shook his head, seeming to slowly shift back into his dry, controlled but lightly joking self once more. His lips touched his hand, licking off a bit of blood and booze before he plucked out a few shards of glass and started to clean up the mess as he poured himself a new glass and took a swig, letting the alcohol burn the minor wounds and ignoring it for the most part as he tapped his foot and debated the man's words. If they were intelligent? Like the raptors whom were known to set traps and ambush- even communicate? "There aren't beasts as smart as the raptors, but stronger on the Island ..? That seems odd. Or do they exist, they simply .. don't linger together?" He pondered as he held his chin- before blinking at the question on Zain, and leaning back in thought. Laquer? That name didn't ring any bells- which was odd, usually a name at least rang a bell or two in his memory. Rubbing his chin he slowly shook his head and tugged out a slim notebook from his chest pocket, popping it open and carefully writing down the name as well as the minor details about him being a 'Grandmaster' Swordsman and so forth- killer of Zain and such. He slowly tilted his head, "You speak of the title as if it means more then simple skill of the sword ..?" He asked this in a curious tone, obviously his mind catching on that this was not some simple actions- Kamina spoke of it like its own unique ability. That meant it was worth knowing about, and even more importantly it meant that it was important to know how to counter it, and deal with it accurately in an opponent- especially one he may end up hunting down in the distant future. |

Kamina arched a brow. He was glad that conversation was over, but it seemed what was said afterwords only hit him with even more problems. Though, he was glad to think, he could actually manage these without having problems of his own. "Nishishishi. Uhh...no? They're more like raptors, trying to eat my ankles. And my legs. And my arms. And....well, you get the point," Kamina replied coolly, an amused look on his face. "Why would they be like puppies? Because I'm strong? At no point, in my opinion, do raptors come off as puppies. Even incredibly large ones, which I have seen before, and did try to eat me," He stated, not seeming to want to go into this too much, and just as much trailing off at the end. He was very aware that the man's analogy was not, in fact, serious, and made the assumption that Kamina was just as aware that Kamina was aware. Yet, he decided to go on regardless. "I have no idea why you would think being strong makes me any less succeptable to a raptor than any other man; their teeth and claws can kill me like any other. The difference is my personal strength, sure, but only to an extent; I imagine some with my abilities, yet less strong, would be picked a part in an ambush; if they are dangerous enough to kill you, they are dangerous enough to be a threat to me," Kamina said, somewhat thoughtful about that idea as he stroked his chin. "...I feel you greatly underestimate your own abilities. Another swordsman may say that your use of haki or your gadgets are a crutch; a weakness, yet I feel that those are as much a part of your ability and power as any other. If you want to fight without them, I am a good teacher for that, but don't let the fact that you use the make you feel as though you are 'weak'," Kamina smiled. "...It's a very relative term, anyway..." "...Oh no, they're smart. Actually, I prepared a little surprise for you; I had something special brought over. I wasn't sure how I was going to use it, exactly, but Brier is combing the area for a good place to put it," Kamina stated, his smile curving into a smirk. It wasn't hard to figure out that he had decided on something especially nasty, whatever it was. "It was an animal I fought a long time ago, when I saved Leander and Izuru from it. Nasty beast. Strong, durable. More than that, it had something especially special going for it," Kamina stated, his eyes narrowing as he thought about it. "...Or, at least, its the offspring of that creature. I even taught it some things myself. ...Did I mention it was intelligent?" And with that, Kamina shrugged, apparently done with the subject, his face returning to its normal neutral expression. "I...would prepare myself, if I were you, for the challenges to come. You will find them...quite nasty," Kamina stated, already aware of the sort of danger the man would be in, should he progress into the final stages of the testing process. Things would get dangerous, especially when he would, perhaps in the near future, receive competition for the right to train under the beast king. Of course, he wasn't the only person to wish for such help, and, now that Kamina had decided to train someone again, he would at least like to pick the very best candidate. And then the man asked about grandmastery, to which Kamina only smiled. He was trying to decide between showing the man outright, or simply focusing on the training for now, saving his ultimate ability for when he would be allowed to learn anything about it. It was a strange feeling; one that, Kamina felt, would eventually settled on his whim. And right now, his whim told him that it wouldn't hurt to show off just a little bit. He smiled, before nodding. "Aye...Grandmaster is not just at title given to people who are good, but one given to those so good in a style--or styles--that they are capable of performing a feat that, in some people's opinions, defies the very laws of nature. Normally, I wouldn't show anyone this unless absolutely necessary, or if they are grandmasters themselves, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to show you," Kamina stated, before breathing in and exhaling, smiling. Kamina had to decide just how he would show the man. It was difficult, certainly, as he had to make it both clear and easy to be excited over; it just wouldn't do to make it seem as though it were some simple parlor trick. And in that, he had to also decide just what sort of technique he would use it with, which, he felt, was just as difficult. Kamina took a deep breath, stepping away from the other male--as well as anything that would have been badly damaged--and flexed, bending his arms outward at his sides, and willing electricity to surround him in a golden aura that highlighted his entire body. Clearly, this was electricity, but just as clearly most of it was only static, the stronger--and truly deadly--parts surrounding his arms. Yet, this was not what he had to show the other man. "...This isn't what I have to show you. This is another of my techniques, 'Kaminari', a part of my martial arts style. Here, watch this," Kamina snapped his arm back before flinging it forward, the motion clearly indicating a punch--thrown much slowly than usually so that the other man could see everything in total--before he flung it forward at just the same manageable speed. Of course, the action was style quite swift, and most would have missed it, especially if they did not actually know what they were looking for. But to Gin, it should have been clear; the electricity that the punch went through bent around the beast king's arm, as if he were punching through a solid material, the part that was actually struck with his fist bending outward and taking the fist's shape, before being knocked away, dispersing before electricity moved to fill the space that had just been forced from the field. It was obvious that Kamina had struck the normally intangible substance as though it were solid. "This...is Grandmaster," Kamina stated, putting emphasis on the first word for dramatic effect. He simply looked at the other man, allowing the electrical aura to drop, returning him to his normal state before sitting down. Technique(s) Used

A slow smile split over his lips as the man explained that a Raptor was a raptor- no matter how strong one was. Ginjo's eyes slowly focused on the man as his round-about way of getting information worked on Kamina, and he felt rather proud. Of course it was entirely possible that Kamina didn't mind giing the information and that he had not out-maneuvered him verbally. It still felt good, it gave him information- that Kamina had no way to guard his flesh under normal circumstances like Haki Hardening, or Barriers, or Defensive aura's- nor was his normal body harder than normal. Slowly he leaned forward as he rested his hands on his knee's once more, slowly swirling the drink in his cup as he listened quietly- so that meant that in a way, Kamina was a glass canon. He was hardly 'fragile' but in comparison to others whom had far greater defensive abilities; some could consider him just that. An offensively powered martial artist was rare- usually that was left to the Inventors and so forth. However it was not unheard of entirely, still they usually went for a balance. It was interesting. slowly Gin straitened and arched a brow- "I don't consider it weakness, it is simply part of my arsenal .. however, I am tired of relying on both. It is far to easy to counter, when Kaine disarmed me I found I was nearly helpless against the bastard until I managed to get close and crush his skull. Even then I had to catch my own hand on fire to just do that because his Haki was stronger than mine." He explained as he raised the hand, which was missing fingernails- the fingers scarred over with dashed, marking severe torture, from someone that knew what they were doing. However what he was more likely referencing was the thick burn scar's that covered his hand and arm up to mid-forearm over the sinewed muscle. Kaine was possibly known to Kamina, as he had been a eight-five million bounty head- a Sand Logia, that Ginjo had taken down to get his ranking of Commander. Though it was also entirely possible he did not pay that much attention to the 'boyscout' as well- it was entirely all in the air. But Ginjo knew that mentioning the name wold make it easier to understand why he had his hand on fire to hurt the man, only flame, heat, or liquid could effect the Sand Logia without the use of Haki. The bastard Haki armor had been to strong and his own Haki had been nullified against him, so he had to rely on brute strength and power- combined with a bit of oil and a lighter. He had paid the price in a way, he was lucky he had medical attention so shortly after or he could have easily lost his hand completely- luckily he was built tough and was a doctor himself. It made it that much easier generally to deal with such issues. ".. It is a weakness as much as any skill is, but its an even greater weakness because much of my 'strength' can be near effortlessly taken away from me. That is unnacepted." He explained with a nod, before he slowly took his chin in his hand- ".. Kamina-san, you don't have Haki? Or it is very weak ..?" This was not something he knew. It was an educated guess based on the fact Kamina said the Raptors could kill him- if he had Haki, even basic full-body armaments would remove that threat entirely, no rator could bite through supernatural armor as strong as Iron. Not on this side of the Grand line at least- the New World? Well. That was something else entirely, but here one would have nothing to fear, beating them down one at a time while they chewed on you managing nothing would be just fine. Which to him meant, Kamina ether had incredibly weak Haki- or none at all, the later of which would suprise him greatly. He blinked as well- when the man mentioned a rare beast, slowly he scratched his chin and nodded slowly. "Strength and stamina mean nothing to me. Those can be broken with strategy and forethought. Intelligence- that worries me a bit .. I will keep my guard at its peak." Intertwining his fingers he met Kamina's gaze- "I will say, if I am about to die- I will use Haki. If that means I fail then thats fine, I would hope a single failed training session wouldn't mean I am no longer your student- and I simply need to start at a lower bar on the rung?" Ginjo's tone was calm as he stated this, he had no intention of dying- he had to many things to do and he would not be killed for this training, it defeated the point of the actual training to die after all. Still- it was worth making sure the consequences were known should he fight for his life outright- and only Kamina could tell him those consequences. With that, Kamina seemd to also raise up and debate somthing heavily- whether or not he wanted to reveal what this'Grandmaster' was. He slowly leaned forward as he watched Kamina's motions with an analytical eye- his Haki flickering into existence as he watched every after-image carefully, between the man holding back and his Haki- along with his natural speed and accuracy he was able to keep up enough to see each step of the move. High speed vibrations to form the electricity, he had seen this before- Kaine had done something similar, though it had not been anything close to this speed and power. As the electrical blast burst into the air however, and Kamina revealed the actual technique- Ginjo's eyes slowly narrowed on the lightning as it was .. well. Punched. It was like Haki, and yet there was no Haki used, only sheer force, and what he could only assume- was a secret skill. Slowly he leaned forward and seemed to watch the electricity carefully as it slowly dispersed, tapping his fingers together slowly as his mind raced on the specifics. His old master had spoken of the 'breath of the world' and how hearing it could let you cut anything. But he thought he had already mastered that by using it to cut through Diamond- and yet this spoke far more vastly of just what that could mean. To hit an element, a liquid or gas- as if it held physical form .. he shook his head slowly and gave a soft whistle. Obviously impressed as he raised himself up and tucked his hands into his pockets, letting his gaze shift to the man and he slowly grinned. ".. Not my style. But .. that is incredible." He pondered in amazement before he tucked his chin into his palm, "It uses your own physical abilities correct? .. I'm starting to see why you've trained your body so much. Beyond the obvious benefits .." |

Kamina blinked. It seemed the other male had thought he discovered something important, yet it was clear he misunderstood. On multiple parts, which the beast king had found incredibly amusing; just how high on the ladder did this man hold haki? Or, even, abilities outside of the physical? Perhaps he misunderstood how one could use their techniques in multiple ways. That is, if one were clever enough to figure out the more intimate details of each and every process of the abilities they had access to. "Ah...I see," Kamina stated in response to the man's queries, clearly amused by each, just as he seemed to be whenever the man asked a question. He decided to answer, at least shedding some light on everything, and perhaps even giving the man a chance to survive the ordeals put before him without forcing the use of haki. "I can wholly understand not wanting to be a one-trick pony. It's commendable. Funny enough, Djazz has much the opposite wish, believing, and I quote, 'Someone who only does what they are best at is best at everything they do', which I can get behind to an extent," Kamina stated, stroking his goatee with his left hand. "It works...so long as you're smart about it." Kamina smiled one of his bright, friendly smiles. "Smart man; individual strength decides skirmishes, but strategy defines victories in wars. You'll do well to keep that sort of mindset," Kamina stated, half lecturing and half praising. "If you fail, you will be graded on your performance. Based on that, we either drop the matter of your training--and my recruitment--entirely, and we both go our separate ways. Or...we wait two weeks, and then you can attempt the tasks again. It's a matter of luck and skill on your end that will decide things, among other variables..." Kamina confirmed, hopefully answering the man's question of what would happen upon failure, and hopefully putting his mind at ease; or, at the very least, satisfying his curiosity. "...Obviously, as I have implied, sometimes success is not about completing the task at hand in its most simplest form," Kamina considered something, before deciding that it wouldn't have been amiss to let the other male in on the other participants. "...Also, you won't exactly be alone in this quest. You'll find that there will be competition for the right to train under me. Though...they won't be taking the initial testing process with you, as they have already passed," Kamina stated, shedding no more light on the matter. Clearly, there were other strong individuals that had been waiting on the chance to gain Kamina's training. For whatever reason. And more than that, they were already ahead of the commander. It was clear Gin would have his work cut out for him. "To answer your question, no. I have not gone through the process of awakening my haki. However, that doesn't mean I can't, but that I won't. I have personally willed myself not to unlock it, until such time that I feel I require it," Kamina stated, raising a brow. "...Can't you feel it? I've been told that such a method will make it harder to unlock proper, and I will have to take extra steps to do so...but I'm fine with that. It does not concern me. Not at the moment, at least. And I am sure I will have no proplem awakening it when the time comes," Kamina smiled, confidence ringing in his voice. He left the matter as such, not even seeming to consider haki a big part of his growth. "Though, don't think I'm defenseless without it. I assume you asked because you have neither felt me use it, nor do you consider the defenses of it capable of being breached by a simple raptor. Which, you would be right," Kamina stated, shaking his head. "...But I've found other, less thought of methods to handle such things.Trust when I say I have no need for barriers like Leander, or hardening, or any of those other things; my discovery of grandmaster, I have found, allow me to handle most attacks better than you haki users can normally." Kamina, despite himself, lifted his right hand and gave the other man a thumbs up. "...I don't need haki to play defensively. I don't need haki to protect myself. And, in my development of skills, I have found haki terribly inferior when it comes to defending oneself from a normal of attacks," Kamina raised a brow. "Have you...ever tried to defend yourself against a laser? Toxic gas? A torrent of flame? I've found haki just doesn't have the defensive capability to withstand these onslaughts, and break easily under pressure. Me? I'll just blast it all away," Kamina stated, not even mentioning how. Though, with the execution and properties of grandmastery, combined how he stated such things, perhaps it was more than terribly clear. Kamina was not nearly as linear in his abilities as the other man had possibly assumed. Or even what most others assumed. He was creative in battle, and knew how to use his attacks as defense, and vice versa. Perhaps, one day, Kamina would be able to show the other man just what he meant. But for now, it wasn't the sort of time to go showing off everything he could do just yet. And for the last question, which the other man was very wrong about, Kamina simply chuckled, his signature laugh booming, before deciding to answer. "Nishishishi! No, hardly. Grandmastery has little to do with my physical abilities at all. Obviously, a normal swordsman would have to be capable of swinging their sword with enough strength and accuracy to handle it easily, but otherwise, no," Kamina stated, his eyebrows knitting together as he began to explain. Obviously, he liked the subject of grandmastery, and loved to tell--as well as show--people the ability; this was just the sort of subject to really get him talking. "Anyone of any physical build, so long as the attributes mentioned apply, can learn the art of the grandmaster. It is an ability derived form incredible skill--not physical ability--in an art, which allows one to transcend normal limits and strike even that which cannot normally be struck. Much like breaking materials, it is one that is the skill of the person put on display; striking the air really really hard, no matter how strong, just won't cut it," Kamina spoke excitedly before chuckling, noting the accidental pun. "...I would like to show you how to do it, but it's a part of my art, as I have already stated, and as such I have found myself deciding to only teach it to someone who would invest in it fully; you would have to get rid of every other type of fighting, save devil fruit and haki, which means no more sword swinging..." Kamina stated, almost saddened by this little issue. |

Ginjo tilted his head slowly as he listened to Djazz's quote and seemed to be contemplating that for a few moments as he tapped his foot slowly. All of the words, he let Kamina speak to an entire extent this time- as if thinking of the best ways to correct the words he had spokne, as some had been misunderstood- though not to an extent that it was a massive issue really. Slowly he intertwined his fingers as he listened to everything in detail before he slowly nodded as if in thought, before he opened both hands to the older man and began from the start of the conversation. "I think I could agree with Djazz to an extent .. in a way the way I want to be in the end is somewhere between what I am now, and what he is. I want to cut off the un-needed chunks of being a jack of all trades, and focus on three specific things." Slowly he raised one of his hands, and a single finger slowly raised upward- "Martial Arts .. I am tired of being disarmed, and I only ever picked the way of the sword because as a child I was to fragile to use my body. I want to push my martial prowess to their pinnacle beyond the basic mixed martial arts I know right now." A second finger then raised upward; "My Haki, because of my- .." He seemed to hesitate a moment, Kamina didn't know he had Kings Haki yet. Was it safe to tell him that? .. Slowly he relaxed, if he was going to trust the man to teach him he had to know his entire arsenal- especially if he was going to ask Kamina to help him become what he wanted to become. "Because of my Kings Haki, my Armament and Observation is naturally weaker- and harder to train than other Haki users. I want to fix this issue as best I can." He explained as he slowly raised the final finger. "This, I wish to master a third ability .. I am still deciding on that. But .. perhaps this ability, Grand Master, could be it. I don't know." He lowered the last finger as he tapped his foot, "The other option instead of Grand Master would be furthering my focus in my knowledge as a Doctor beyond the basics that I have at the moment .." He pondered as he slowly scratched his cheek in thought. "Both are solid options. The drugs that I could create could assist in my physical abilities when combined with my Haki- quite well. As well .. learning how to remove wounds, and repair the damage to my body I have sustained over the years, could also have it's benefits. Poisons combined with my Kings could be quite potent as well .. but this Grandmaster ability also seems incredibly useful, especially with how weak my Armament Haki is." He made a face and rubbed it lightly with a sigh in thought. Slowly he let it be as he moved on to the other subjects, "I have always been of the opinion that no matter your power- if you don't have a mind to match it, you will loose in battles against your peers. My mind has always been the first thing I trained, my body second. Though now I have found it has its weaknesses." He stated dryly- as ironically he was now desperate to train his body to match his mind instead. A simple nod would be the answer to the idea that he would get another shot two weeks later, perhaps if he did fail he would use that time-frame to try and get a few things done, and train further to prove himself. It came down to if he would manage it he supposed. The fact others were after his training did not suprise him, he entirely expected that in all honesty- Kamina was a powerful and intelligent man, it was not unlikely that many seeked him out for training. Ginjo arched a brow at the answer Kamina gave- he was purposely forcing his Haki to remain unawakened? Was that even possible? He debated that quietly- he supposed, if the user wishes one could 'almost awaken' it- and if they were aware of it, will it back. But the amount of willpower that would take would be immense .. what kind of Haki would a man like that have if he let it awaken? He slowly narrowed his eyes as he tapped his foot lightly against the ground, and this is where the misunderstanding started to a degree. "I did not assume you were entirely defenseless, no. But though incredible- this Grandmaster ability cannot be flawless. You specifically used it to strike electricity; which tells me it is used against things normally one is helpless against- the attacks you have listed." He explained his thoughts as he tried to remedy the misunderstanding. "My thought was simply, that you seemed to lean more heavily on the offensive side- as Haki defensive perimeters against anything that isn't what you have listed is incredibly extensive. If one uses both Barriers, and Hardening in conjunction very little will harm you- or if it does, after the defenses it may as well not have." He spoke from experience, combining barrier and hardening he had shrugged off many things. "I don't know about lasers, but even against explosions, flames and so forth that combination has saved my life a thousand times over. I was not thinking your defense weak- simply that from what you were saying, your defenses seemed like a .. secondary focus beyond Grandmaster." He hoped that time the explanation was more accurate to his thoughts as he nodded lightly. "Though .. on the matter of Grandmaster, I do not know if I could learn it." He slowly frowned as he scratched his chin in thought- "It seems like it has an incredibly high focus on martial arts .. if I do, I don't think I could focus on my knowledge as a Doctor .. there is only so much time in a day, I cannot focus on both." He murmured as if silently debating- trying to figure out which. "I suppose there is plenty of time to decide." He shrugged as he slowly looked up at the air, "After all I've been a swordsman for most of my life, un-learning it to focus on Martial Arts- on its own, is going to be one hell of a Journey." He stated drly as he shook his head in light dry amusement at himself. But he felt glad at the same time, as if he was finally evolving out of the mirror-image of his parents put together and into his own person. |

OOC Note Time passed, quite a bit in fact as Ginjo's eyes slowly raised when the man Re-Appeared and a slow smile crossed his lips. So it was time to give it a shot hm? Well, that was fine .. he wanted this after all. Grunting, he hefted himself to his feet as he cracked his knuckles and waited patiently for the instructions to come- and when they did he realized how difficult this test actually was. Slowly, Ginjo's arms crossed over his chest in thought; he had to survive the entire Island without his Haki or Sword, for an entire week? Slowly he scratched his chin before he slowly nodded. "Then let's begin." He murmured simply, bowing his head to both his 'superiors' before he took a final shot- and placed his foot on the edge of the wood, leaping off as he landed with a thud in the sands of the beach. He couldn't use his Haki. Slowly he closed his eyes- and let out a careful breath as it slowly exited from his body and senses- leaving him 'normal' as he narrowed his eyes on the massive jungle. He had forgot how blind a normal person was- to rely on normal human senses was not a massive weakness but it did mean he would have to work his mind far faster to deal with certain situations. Rubbing his chin he grunted- before he began to walk forward as he headed into the forest, as he walked unbuttoning his shirt and shrugging out of it as he tossed it to the side, along with his shoes- leaving him in only his pants as he took a slow breath. He didn't need the excess clothing if he was going to do this, it would only get in his way or snag on a branch or vine. Taking a breath he did not dash in like some idiot, he waited- measuring each motion of the wind, every switch of the wind as it washed over the area and shifted the scenes. After several moments, he leap forward and flickered from existence to land on a high branch instead- still at the entrance of the island. But the sparse movement was already enough all on its own for what was to come- and he gritted his teeth as he heard the clatter of the beasts he could no longer just use his Kings to knock unconscious effortlessly. Quickly he raised his hands and waited, until the massive centipede shot up the tree and flew strait at him- his eyes widened at the speed and size of the thing, he knew prehistoric bugs existed but this was a bit much ..! Cursing his hand shot out to slam into the head of the creature as his muscles strained, "Jesus .. these things are no joke .." They were a class beneath him in strength and speed, but it didn't make them any less a threat by any means. Muscles straining as it tried to force him back, but when that failed he watched as the beast shifted itself to go down- causing him to leap upward as it shot beneath him, ripping the wood to bits with razor like legs and mandibles as he grimaced. If that hit him it would be an issue. Narrowing his eyes his muscles bulged as his heel slammed into the beasts back, blinking at the iron-hard density he met. "Oh ..?" He murmured as he leap backwards after it tried to snap at his leg. ".. Guess the island has plenty of surprises." He murmured, watching it curl and prepare to launch itself once more- he could deal with an iron guard like that effortlessly if he had a katana, or even a stick shaped like one, but that would defeat the purpose of the exercise. Raising both hands into a kickboxing stance he waited on the thick branch, and as it launched itself at him- he carefully swayed to the side at the last minute as his fist shot upward in a powerful uppercut that rammed into its soft underbelly- this time he felt bone-like resistance, but not iron. His grin spread over his lips- there was always a weakpoint, and the crack of the creatures 'flesh' made it obviouse he had found this creatures as the spikes spread over the stomach- and his fist slammed through it. The sound of flesh turning to mush within the creature as it let out a screech of pain and fell back, bleeding yellow and green ooze from the hole in it as it tried to escape. "None of that .. I'm not going to let you die slowly from that." He murmured as he flickered- using Soru to give chase and slam both hands down on its head, the impact stunning it as he kicked it down and released a powerful kick at the base of its 'throat' the crush destroying the head from the underside. It continued to squirm, but he could tell it was dead. He kicked the body down- the Island would devour it as was natural. He had only gone ten feet into the jungle, and had already been attacked. This place was going to ether kill him- or it was going to make him far stronger. If he did fail this, he should stay here .. the more he could push himself the better, and the feral- powerful nature of this Island could do much for his personal growth. ".. Next it is." He murmured simply as he took a step forward and cracked his neck, wiping the sludge from his hand as he stepped forward and leap to the next branch, it was time to start hunting instead of being the hunted- Kamina had said he had left a 'surprise' an intelligent monster in this jungle. If he could defeat it, outsmart it, then he would surely gain the man's approval without the use of his Haki- and that was key. If he failed this he would have to go, and train personally and work on his knowledge of this island before he returned. |

However, stepping on the branch was a bit of a mistake. The instant he Gin's foot had touched the wood, it seemed to bend underneath him as though it were simply paper. Or rather, the branch was bending near the base, and the twigs coming off it appeared to be reaching out towards the man to grab at him. By this point, it didn't take much to figure out what it was. A stick insect, and a very large one. Large enough to pose as a rather thick branch, which was now aggressively clawing at Gin in an attempt to eat him. |

"What the hel-" Gin didn't really get a chance to finish his question as the branch beneath him started to move and wriggled, narrowing his eyes as he watched the legs shoot out to try and grab him. "Tch .." However he was not overly concerned- stick insects were not predatory; surely this thing wouldn't go for blood. It was just defending itself because he stepped on it- he would be grumpy too. Narrowing his eyes he flipped backward as the legs shot out to snag him, muttering under his breath as he landed on another branch- using it to shift momentum and grab a vine instead as he hung carefully. However he doubted that would be the end of it- self defense or not, he was not a threat- and animals didn't like threats, insects even more so. This was proven he was sure- and whenever it would attack again he would shift his weight on the vine to drag backwards just out of reach, attempting to evade- as he tried to adapt to the rapidly different environment than what he was used to. None the less he had little choice- driven by his instinct, he was dull. He had relied on his Haki for far to long- handicapping himself, relying on it to do anything- he could feel how slow his reaction time was. Still, it was far fast enough to handle the insect if it was one at a time. As he moved out of range with the vine- as gravity worked, he inevitably swung back strait toward it, and he took advantage of the increase in momentum as he grunted and raised both legs in an attempt to kick the thing right off the tree. He hoped the mixture of his own weight, the momentum of his swing, and his far superior brute strength would be enough. But if not his arms were raised- entirely prepared to attempt a guard so that he did not have to deal with razor like iron claws raking at his flesh- as he swung and his kick shot out, he tensed his upper body and released the vine as both arms crossed in a guard over his torso and face. This also added further impact to the kick- however if he did manage to kick the thing off the tree, he would have to locate a new branch or vine to grab or risk falling right along with it. One place he did not want to be right now, was the jungle floor- he couldn't sense the dinosaurs, and if he fell into a raptor packs territory, he could certainly be in alot of trouble. Fuck the Tyrannosaurus- that didn't worry him in the slightest, a single big target was far easier to deal with then a bunch of weaker, but far more intelligent and fast creatures. He really, really hoped he didn't have to deal with Raptors. Fuck Raptors. |
