The massive bear of a man was happily taking on an entire throng of fighters that all rushed at him. Extending his arms outwards he began spinning rapidly; arms hitting and close lining one enemy after another like a massive whirling tornado of clothes lines. Sending mooks flying this way and that, he quickly prepared himself to continue with another attack. However before he could perform another death defying attack, he was stopped! A petite woman caught his attention, and boy did she have a mouth full to say; it seems as though his broadcast had caught her attention as well, “Hello uhh… jeeze your name is long! I take it you aren’t here to rumble!? Oka… yes. My secret!” he said, pulling from his pocket a secret item! It was a wireless microphone. Only enough it had no den den mushi on it what so-ever, “This is called a ‘Macrophone’ or something, made by a company called ChromeTech! Genius stuff huh! I can put my voice in the center ring no matter where I am!!!” He said, belting a laugh. It seemed as though he didn’t have access to the den den mushi intercom system after all, rather, had somehow hijackd it with this fancy device. Of course, Pedro himself was far too dull witted to have invented such a thing himself, “Hmm… you want to borrow? Ahh ha! Si! Okay. How is this…competition! If you and your amiga there can defeat… 50 opponents before I can defeat 100, I will let you borrow my Macrophone!” he said with a big dumb grin on his face. The competition obsessed Arena was only ever willing to do anything if it was in the spirit of competition. By making it a game he was inspiring himself to fight harder until the Admiral arrived. And if they managed it, he was a man of his word, he would very happily admit defeat and let her utilize the macrophone. ----Meanwhile… near the edge of the theme park, on the ferris wheel…---- Three imposing figures sat in a single compartment at the top of the wheel itself. From this vantage point they could look down and see much of the island, as well as the chaos that surrounded them. The man on the left was peering about with a binoculars, looking around and scanning the battle field that was JusticeIsland. “That big fat idiot Pedro… sticking his nose in where he doesn’t belong.” The man on the right of compartment, arms folded, responded. “Your right… if he continues fighting at this rate, the battle might even be over before she gets here.” And finally, the man in between the both of them, no doubt the largest, clench his fists, “Perhaps… perhaps I should defeat him here and now with –THESE HANDS!-‘ he said dramatically unclenching his fists and starring as though shocked at his own open hands. “No, no, you’ve got a date with that bitch. Let us handle this one if it comes down to it.” The man on the left said. It was an enigma as to whom these three imposing figures were, or what role they played quite yet.. but it would seem as though they might target Pedro for interfering… and any who allied themselves with pedro could easily be caught in the line of fire… Edited by TGIFlash, Aug 24 2015, 03:28 PM.

“Miss Akemi, while I can certainly appreciate your apprehension of the situation, you must know it is rude to automatically assume the worst of a person, especially when they have offered to help. Now whether Mister Pedro’s intentions are pure or not is rather irrelevant, what matters is that at current he is more useful as an ally than an enemy, and thus it would be more beneficial to remain on his good side than work against it.” Elizabeth whispered to Akemi in a hushed but strict tone informing her that while she too had reservations about the nobility of the man’s intentions, the current circumstances involved them cooperating. Pedro spoke plainly clearly a man of little intelligence or education. The device he had was unusual. Referring to it as a ‘Macrophone’ and saying it was developed by a company called ChromeTech. Elizabeth had heard and read up about the company quite a bit. They were pioneers in cybernetics and advanced mechanical technologies. Headed by Dr. Chrome they held a fairly lucrative contract with the Marines, until he defected. He was last seen with Semeul’s crew, one of Bright Eye’s men. The fact that Pedro had such a devise could mean that he was actually working for Dr. Chrome, or it could mean he was just given one of his old tools. Still she could not feel any deceit from the man, and he offered to let her use it if she and Akemi bested the man in a game. Elizabeth quickly thought of how to use this to further her own goal. “Very well, I accept your contest of skill. However if it is going to be a true contest it must have rules. How is this? For every pirate killed by each side 1 point is acquired, for every pirate incapacitated but alive 2 points are awarded, for every civilian killed you lose 10 points. This should make the game far more challenging don’t you agree? It would be all too easy to simply win by sweeping an entire area with larger attacks, this way we will have to push our skills to the limit combining strength with restraint and judgment, a test of might AND mind. What do you say Mr. Pedro. The contest shall be me and Akemi vs. you. If we can acquire 50 points between the two of us before you can acquire 100 we win and you shall allow me the use of your Macrophone. And if you win we shall have another contest later on. Does that sound agreeable?” Elizabeth calmly explained, listing the rules of the game to him. He seemed to get confused by the nuances, especially the numbers, but he did eventually agree. This game put Elizabeth in a significantly more advantageous position. Akemi’s abilities were far more suited to subduing adversaries by nonlethal means, and the rules specifically stated the penalties came from killing civilians, not incapacitating them. However as Elizabeth was sweeping her sense of touch around the island, hopefully trying to find the Vice Admiral in charge of the park, she noticed something strange on the Ferris wheel. It was reaching the edge of her touch range, but she could make out 3 figures talking about Pedro here, and talking about plans. They were also looking at them and at least one of them seemed highly aggressive towards them all. It seems they were the masterminds here, or at least they were agent invested in seeing the plan play out. Elizabeth thought for a moment how best to use this information. They were still well within her range, so she figured she’d give them a scare, and perhaps throw off their plans. “Very well, the game is set. Oh… by the way Mr. Pedro, there are several people over by the Ferris wheel who were talking about you, and they seemed to be dismissing your strength, I believe based on their conversation and the way they are currently fixated on you that they might be the ones responsible for the devastation here.” Elizabeth explained describing each of the three individuals based on their profiles she could feel and then pointing in the direction of the Ferris wheel. She then looked directly at the trio, smiled, and pointed one hand at them. On the tips of each of her fingers and thumb formed identical pin sized craters of magma. 5 burning beams of liquid death shot forward in a perfectly straight line. # of them were aimed directly at them, by 2 of them were focused on the larger man who had been talking about his mighty hands. She focused most of her touch perception on him to predict the direction he would travel to dodge the highly accurate long range strike, and positioned those beams to intercept him as he moved to those locations. Combining her superhuman senses, the titanic levels of perceptive abilities her current transformation provided her, the sheer destructive power of her magma, and the absolute precision this technique specialized in, it was likely that if she didn’t manage to tag all three at least the one she was focusing on would get hit and take some fairly serious damage. Even as sizzling beams of hellfire shot forth from her fingers Elizabeth did not break her calm casual tone and pleasant smile. “Miss Akemi if this does not kill them I believe we shall be having company soon, do be a dear and see that we win the contest. All you need to do is incapacitate 25 pirates with your spices and we have won. I shall remain here and act as a distraction for these three likely along with Mr. Pedro. I believe they are in fact the masterminds. If we can eliminate them then there should be no further threats facing us. Especially since it is likely a Marine Admiral is on their way. There is no way with one of them here that the Marines wouldn’t send one of their heaviest hitters to come defend this land. Once the Admiral arrives if we can successfully foil the plans and schedule of these three we can end this debacle with the least amount of resistance.” Elizabeth calmly, but firmly explained telling Akemi to get away and help contain the pirates still running amok while she handled the heavy hitters along with Mr. Pedro. Akemi’s glare did not shift in the slightest at Elizabeth’s words; another side effect of her no longer putting the princess on a pedestal was that she was also perfectly willing to disregard her opinions now when they clashed with her own. “Rude is finding no issues with going on a rape, pillage and burning spree and making everyone’s lives miserable! I have no pleasantries to waste on someone like that and I will very well assume the worst of him and likely continue to do so throughout. Stilted civility is the absolute best that can possibly be hoped for.” She whispered back, her words rushed with her rage as she turned away from the princess and remained silent. If they didn’t have a need for that ‘Macrophone’ of the pirate’s she wouldn’t be willing to cooperate with this nonsense in the slightest. It did help that Elizabeth then proceeded to manipulate the fairly dim pirate with a slew of words into a contest that was heavily rigged in their favour and would ensure that the wrestling pirate didn’t end up going on a rampage and killing any of the citizens for the sake of winning his ridiculous challenge. It took quite some time for the guy to even understand it and Akemi had to put in effort to stay quiet and not potentially insult the guy – she didn’t like him in the slightest but she did see the benefits in not outright being antagonistic to the warlord candidate without a more immediate cause – but knowing that they would get the voice amplifying device as soon as they dropped twenty-five pirates was a bit of a relief. “Isn’t that device called a microphone though?” She had to ask Elizabeth quietly. At least that was the thing she had heard going around about a device that could increase volume and was easy to carry around. She supposed that a modified tone dial could potentially do the same thing but dials weren’t quite that easy to get ones hands on and she didn’t know anyone with that level of technical skill. Elizabeth started talking again and drew Akemi’s attention to the Ferris Wheel, where she couldn’t even see the figures that Elizabeth was talking about. That was to be expected though with giving it any kind of thought; the Ferris wheel was nowhere close to their current location to begin with and given that she couldn’t see them, obviously they were in one of the compartments and Akemi’s eyes weren’t quite that good. As it was she was just going with Elizabeth’s report, having seen more than enough proof of her perceptive abilities to have no doubt in her accuracy. That and she was reasonably certain that the princess wouldn’t shoot those heated magma beams at the park ride without very good reason. “Elizabeth, you can be really scary at times, especially when you’re shooting beams of melting death from your fingers with a smile.” Akemi chimed in with a deadpan tone, seeing little point in her sticking around for a battle on the level that an attack like that didn’t bring an end to things. Besides, she was being offered the opportunity to put even more pirates in excruciating pain and that fully appealed to the portion of her mind that recalled just why she hated the beasts to begin with. “Very well, I’ll be back in a few minutes, after I’m done cleaning up this trash!” She might have been a bit too pleased at that but there was nothing saying that a knight couldn’t enjoy their jobs. Akemi left the square and likely imminent battleground, moving on to what she could do right now to protect the innocents at the theme park. The rabble was making to efforts to hide themselves, far too occupied with terriorizing everyone around them. It was far too easy for Akemi to let her spiciness coat her scarf again and lash out, scoring a direct hit to one of the attacking pirates’ face. Now that she had evidence of just how effective her spices were though, she didn’t stop there, running forward and whipping another pirate in the chest before the others started paying attention. Even so, they weren’t taking her scarf very seriously and simply brushing it across their bodies was enough. “Three, four, five.” She kept a running count of each pirate that got caught with her spices, and just at that count, the first started to feel the effects and went down screaming. Good and bad, there were less opponents but from this point, they’d be more wary. Techs

A bead of sweat rolled down his neck, the red haired marine was working up more than he expected today. A punch soared towards his head which was quickly dodged and counted with a strong kick to the opponent's jaw, sending the pirate flying back into his buddies. "Woo! It's a hot day today isn't it boys?!" he yelled out to the group of men he was leading. Each preoccupied with their own battles but they still managed to reply back to the Lieutenant all together. "Sure is sir!" The men cried and roared as they clashed with the pirates, Lucas keeping his cool as he succeeded in defending against anyone who crossed him so far. "Today feels like a good day tho, don't you think boys?" he yelled out once more as he caught another pirate with a right cross that knocked him out for the count. "The best day sir!" The continued to reply all together, each fighting their hardest against the invaders. "Perfect day to be doing some yard work right?!" Lucas continued to yell out to the men as he notice some reinforcements come out of the base. "You fellas ready to do some yard work?" The men roared and cheered on as they continued to fight off the pirates that continued to charge towards the base. One by one they rushed the marine line, like zombies after a prey who had just fallen and cut open a leg, they were mindless and in a rage. "We're always ready sir!" the men yelled out once again. At the gate, a few men had lined up with machine gun turrets ready and loaded and aimed at the pirates in front of them. "Well then lets get to cleaning! Marines down!!!" he yelled out as he ducked as well as every other white coat around him. Soon the sound of roaring, cheering and chanting was replaced with screams and rapid gun fire. The machine gun turrets had been released and were opening fire on the pirates. Things were getting intense already. |

Regin Smidur Theodore Ramsey Kris Kyles Kris Kyles watched on. Something made him raise an eye brow however. It would seem as though one of the people conversing with the fat oaf they knew as Pedro was... pointing in their direction? "Call me crazy but... I think they spotted us. He said, his voice a mixture of intrigue and surprise. Even with his keen eye sight he still needed a pair of binoculars to get a good look at what was going on. Hell, if it weren't for her proximity to Pedro, he wouldn't even have noticed her himself. She then pointed her entire hand at them,"I uhh... think we got incoming. He said hesitantly. While she held nothing in her hands, it was apparent that she wasn't just standing there waving at them. No, whoever this was, was about to attack. When a mysterious ray of some short shot from her outstretched hand, his suspicions were confirmed, "Yup, definitely incoming." he said. "H-how?!" The man on the other side said, turning his hand behind his back and snatching what appeared to be a frying pan. Holding it up, the pan suddenly and without explanation grew several times its size. Whatever it was, it was built to withstand heat and durable enough to not be punctured as the molten rays hit the pan and ooze off its surface like ketchup on a skillet “Your guess is as good as mine… The man said, pulling a massive gun from behind him. Raising it up, the binoculars attached to the top like a scope and the barrel extended several times its original length, “But I’m not going to give them the time of day to find out…” he said, tightening his focus as he pulled the trigger, “Silver Bullet…” he muttered under his breathe before pulling the trigger. In his crosshairs? Pedro Bear… Pedro looked to the younger companion of the princess, “Aye, cut me some slack would ya?! I’m not a pirate okay?! Get it. Not. A. Pirate. I am a masked luchador! Vigilante of the people! I have no bounty or anything. He said. It seemed as though her opinion of him as a potential candidate was based around the idea that warlords had to be pirates… perhaps part of the reason why he wasn’t selected in the end! Either way, he wasn’t bitter about it… not one bit (he was totally bitter about it). He didn’t want his good name skewed because of some misconception. In fact, it was his marine friend who told him to come here in the first place. Turning back to the princess like woman, she began to spat all kinds of… numbers and points mumbo jumbo at him. Something about being unable to harm citizens? He took it that she herself wasn’t a pirate and would have good reason not to cause civilian damage; there was no reason to make some silly rules that he didn’t have time to understand. They were in the middle of a battle field for Christ sake, “Yeah yeah, sure sure, whatever.” He said, waving it off as though it were no big deal. He was going to win for sure either way! She then mentioned something about someone talking about him…? Tracing her finger into the distance, he didn’t see anyone in particular. Unlike the woman whose super sense allowed her to pick out anyone planted on the ground, he had no such super vision or anything. He put his hand above his head as though shielding the sun trying to peek out into nothing; there were after all, dozens of people between him and the nearest attraction, and even then, the ferris wheel was on the otherside of all those on the edge of the island. Looking over he saw that the spice girl was already going on about fighting and KOing opponents! Had this entire thing been a ploy to get a quick head start on Pedro! N-no fair!! You trying to trick me!? The woman even shot what appeared to be lasers out of her fingers. His male eyes glossed over into starry excitement, “W-what!? A beam!? You can shoot beams!?” He said, completely forgetting that he was upset that she might be trying to trick him. But what was she shooting at? In the same direction that he was previously looking? Turning his head he watched the beam shoot off into the distance. This view… the middle of the battle field. It would unfortunately be the last thing that Pedro Bear would see before his life flashed before his eyes. Suddenly, and without warning, Pedro was killed… An explosion burst from his forehead and with crossed eyes and a wild groan of pain, he fell to the ground, sprawled out in spread eagle. It was unclear whether he was knocked out or dead… but there wasn’t any notice as to exactly what had caused it. It was almost as though there was no physical bullet at all; nothing to perceive, nothing to block… As Pedro fell KO’d to the ground, his macrophone fell from his pocket and rolled out to the ground. From the Ferris wheel, the sniper smiled, "Bingo..." he said, confirming his hit. He was so confident that the single attack had defeated Pedro without him even realizing the attack was coming that he had already retracted the extendable barrel of his weapon. Poor idiot... well that takes care of him but, what about the bitch that shot at us? The man with the frying pan stated, looking at their boss who sat in the middle. "Watch her... one more mistake like that, and we'll flatten her." |

Elizabeth’s sense of touch was quite useful; she was able to focus most of the beams on the self proclaimed founder of Landman Karate, a man whose profile she recognized as belonging to none other than one of Bright Eye’s commanders, Regin Smidur. Unfortunately her attack would be spotted by the Man on the left who was acting at the spotter and was dressed like a military man. He was wearing a ski mask to protect his identity but thanks to her touch she was able to get the full profile of his face by focusing her touch on him for a few moments. Unfortunately the man on the right reached behind his back and pulled out what looked like a frying pan. It suddenly expanded several dozen times its size and as a result was able to block all 5 of Elizabeth’s magma beams. She cut the power once she felt her beam connect and through her extended sense of touch realized that the beams had no effect on the pan. Whatever it was, it was clearly immensely durable and resilient to heat and fire. The sniper took aim and leveled his gaze at Pedro and fired. Elizabeth was able to feel the shot leave his rifle with her superior perceptive abilities, but her reactions were not quite fast enough to push Pedro out of the way. Had she been focusing on the sniper she probably could have prevented the following, but her attention had been on the largest target and for that she had failed. Pedro’s head jerked back as an explosion of force impact him. He fell back to the ground, dead or unconscious. Elizabeth was not a medical expert, but she was trained enough in basic first aid. She couldn’t take her sense off of the trio however. A sniper of that caliber was clearly the biggest threat. She focused her sense of touch on him and listened to their conversation some more. She was initially afraid they would target her next; however they brushed her off as inconsequential. They were however keeping an eye on her, such that if she made another attack against them they would no doubt retaliate. Feeling slightly secure in the knowledge they wouldn’t immediately attack her she kept her sense of touch trained on the sniper in case he did try and pull another shot off on her and crouched down over Pedro. She checked his pulse using her two fingers and inspected the wound to see what kind of damage it was. She may have not been an expert, but she knew enough that there was nothing she could do. Even attempting to move his body would be a bad idea. Worst case scenario he wasn’t dead but she inadvertently killed him in attempting to get him some help. It was unfortunate but she would have to leave him here. However his death was not a total loss, she now had access to something even more valuable as a result, information. Elizabeth grabbed Pedro’s Macrophone and then took off for the nearest shelter. Once she was outside of their line of sight she vanished into the ground slipping beneath the rocks while keeping her sense of touch focused specifically on the sniper. She kept her senses tuned in that direction so she could continue to eavesdrop on their conversation, but right now she needed to process and sort out the information she had collected. Based on what they had said, and their tactics, some things weren;t adding up all of the sudden. Once Elizabeth had found a nice spot underground and widened the space to become a comfortably sized alcove for her to rest in and think. “On the surface, their tactic seems to be to strike fear in the hearts of the masses by causing havoc in one of the few truly safe islands in the Grand Line. This would naturally fall in line with Bright Eye’s agenda to unsettle the balance of powers in the world. However the fact a Tenryubitto is n the island cannot be a coincidence. This would mean the riot they instigated is a distraction so they could take out the Tenryubitto and land a heavy blow to the world government. But in this case, those three are clearly the only true threats, and the masterminds behind this gambit. And if they have a sniper of that caliber working with them, it would have been a simple matter to assassinate the Tenryubitto even if the Vice Admiral was with him. If that’s the case, why wouldn’t they, unless their target wasn’t the Tenryubitto…” Elizabeth began to think to herself using her years of experience in and outside of war to analyze the situation. Her eyes widened as it became apparent their true goal. Of course, the Tenryubitto hold power only in financial aspects, they are little more than pampered figure heads. The fact no one attacks them regularly is due entirely to the fact that doing so would call in a Marine Admiral to eliminate the assailant. They mentioned they were waiting till she arrives, that can only mean their true target is not the Tennryubitto, but rather the Marine Admiral sent to protect him. They’re using the Tenryubitto as bait, and as a means to tie up the only other capable Marine officer stationed on the island while he is forced to babysit instead of handling the assault like he should be doing. If it is three men of their caliber, then even a Marine admiral might have trouble. Their goal here is to tie down or dispose of one of the Marines strongest Military assets to prevent its use in the upcoming war. And no doubt we’re playing right into their hands. For such an important operation it’s unlikely they’d leave it to just those three, they must have an additional contingency in place. Once the admiral landed, or preferably before that, she needed to make contact with them. She pulled out her den den mushie and contacted her ship; Madoka was the one to pick it up. “Madoka, listen closely, I need to you to act on my behalf in matters relating to the security of the ship. Pirates have launched a full on invasion here having snuck into the island. Tell the men to man the canons and be prepared to return fire if any pirate ships attack, I’m more than confident in the power of our ship to repell all but the strongest of pirate fleets. Find the directory of Marine ship contacts list, scan the airwaves for any approaching Marine vessels and then report back to me once you get hit, I want you to forward me the contact information for any incoming Mrine vessels approaching the Island, I will talk to them myself. Have the men keep bounty posters ready to recognize any who try to slip onto the ships as civilians, assist civilians who are evacuating as best we can, prepare food, shelter, and medical aid as needed. Understood?” Elizabeth barked in an assertive authorative tone. Madoka gulped and decided now was not the time to fawn over the princess like normal. She had heard her serious tone enough to know when to straighten up. “Yes Ma’am, stay safe and I’ll contact you if I can find the contact codes.” Madoka exclaimed as she hung up the den den mushie on the ship and ran through the decks telling the men and women to prepare for a confrontation. She would then go into the navigation quarters and start having them scan the den den airwaves for incoming Marine vessels with an emergency SOS signal. If they got any hits Madoka would record the numbers down on a piece of paper then call Elizabeth back to give them to her so she could try and speak to them. Meanwhile Elizabeth focused her mental efforts to coming up with a detailed profile of what she knew of them. “I know that there are at least three of them, I have ascertained the identity of Landman Karate master Regin Smidur. Their sniper possesses incredible skills, and on top of that the round he fired didn’t feel natural, there must be something more to it. Either he has a special gun, or perhaps even ability, I will need more observation before I can come to a conclusion. Regardless at current his superior range and position give him a substantial advantage. The other possessed the ability to make his fry pan increase in size substantially. This is either advanced technology, or the powers of a devil fruit. It was unlikely to be the rare substance known as Wapometal, as that only allowed matter to change its shape, it would not allow the weapon to increase or decrease its volume and mass in such a way. This means it is likely the effects of a devil fruit of some kind, exactly what is unknown, but I must proceed with caution. Between all of them he seems like the worst match up for me as so many of my abilities revolve around heat and fire, the landman karate user would likely be the easiest target for me to take out if it came to that, as most water would evaporate before it could reach me. Likewise the sniper could be disposed of provided he cannot sense me underground. It would not be too difficult for me to get the jump on them. For now I must test how deep their perceptive abilities run.” Elizabeth thought to herself as she began to rapidly navigate and tunnel through the ground, swimming through earth and stone as easily as a fish through water. She made a bee line straight to the trio, keeping her senses keened on their location and listening in to see if they notice her approach from underground. She was deep enough that the tunnels she was causing wouldn’t make any disturbances above ground. Once they noticed her moving and seemed to focus on her, or when she got within a medium distance of her she would suddenly change directions heading towards the coast and the harbor rather than them. She was confident enough in her perceptive abilities that give her mobility advantage she could avoid a counter attack if they launched one, to be sure however she kept her sense focused on the biggest long range threat of the trio, the sniper. His hands covered his head, gripping the red hair of his tightly. He had been around gun fire a lot as a marine and although he didn't use them, he wasn't really afraid of guns or bullets. But still there was just something about gun fire that seemed to tighten every muscle in his body, it wasn't much fear or excitement, it just happened. "Everyone ok?!" he yelled out as he lifted his head once the firing stopped. Empty bullet shells could still be heard falling around the machine guns but the crowd like noisy he had heard when the fighting began had moved to other locations around the park. Lucas slowly rose to his feet, dusting off his suit and fluffing his wild hair, making sure there was no rubble in it. "Lt. Trent sir! The main gate seems to be secured. They didn't manage to run over the base." Lucas nodded, "Fights not over yet, get someone to start mobilizing some troops, we're the reinforcements of the park. Now that we've cleared the path, our men can get out there and do what we do best." The marine saluted Lucas and moved on to relay the orders to the other men. Moments later some troops began moving out of the gate and towards the fighting, Lucas moving behind them at his own pace. He stoped and took a moment to think about what was going on, he had learned how to get a gist of the people around him and those that seemed abnormal to him. With some concentration, Lucas let out a small wave, undetectable to anyone else except him that scanned the general area around him. With this he notice two things, There was a shit tone of people here, and the strongest of the strong had somehow managed to gather by the Ferris wheel. Then without warning, one of the people he was sensing by the Ferris wheel vanished, either gone from the area magically or just gone, he couldn't tell from his location but he knew he would have to end up there eventually if this was all going to end. Not like he was the hero of this story but the best way to kill a snake is to cut off the head and the body will stop moving. If the heads were at the Ferris wheel, he would have to go there too. With that, Lucas began moving towards the Ferris wheel, bringing as many men that would follow.

Akemi’s ears were still slightly ringing from how impossibly LOUD that wannabe warlord was capable of being. And she meant loud, with incredible emphasis; she honestly doubted that the luchador needed that macrophone of his to make himself heard if he wanted with that pair of lungs on him. She still wasn’t feeling overly keen on treating anyone who considered becoming a warlord to be something to aspire to with respect, but between his insistence on not being a pirate and lack of bounty despite being publicly known to have tried out for the position, she was willing to revise her opinion of him from pirate scum to simply being a massive idiot, and while that wasn’t a very large improvement, she could accept someone who was fuelled by idiocy far easier than if they were operating because of malicious intent. Of course Akemi couldn’t – or more accurately, couldn’t be bothered to pay that much attention to the loud wrestler, both because she wasn’t confident enough in her skills to take her eyes off multiple opponents for any length of time and because she knew that the princess was there as well and while she had been forcibly made to realise that she wasn’t exactly invincible, she was going to bet on Elizabeth being more than smart enough to keep that brainless fool under control. Then she heard an explosion ring out, followed by a loud thud that even had the pirate rabble looking. Deciding that missing something important behind her was unwise as well, she looked back and saw the said luchador on the ground and certainly looking dead. Okay, that was probably not good but the princess didn’t seem all that bothered and frankly, it wasn’t as if she had any real means of avoiding someone capable of shooting accurately over, if Elizabeth was correct, the other side of the bloody island. She still couldn’t quite comprehend someone seeing something as relatively small as a person that far unaided but then she’d met enough monsters to not doubt it. Either way, she was not the type of person to bother with musing on potential danger anymore; she would not leave those who couldn’t protect themselves to be prey to the disgusting animals running wild when she could do something about them; that group was Elizabeth’s battle, and if she couldn’t help there, she could ensure that the princess only had to be concerned about that group. It did bring up the question of what they wanted though; if someone was capable of shooting across an island, why didn’t they just stay quiet and shoot the World Noble if their fat bubblehead when they stepped outside? It should have been absurdly easy for someone at that level and frankly, most people would cheer them on. They are definitely up to something, and not something quite as straight forward as wanting a noble dead, as much as they deserve it. I wonder what though, it is worth picking a potential fight with an admiral if they aren’t even going to do something to make the trouble worth it? They probably don’t keep anything of real importance on an island like this, which is frequently visited by the public. Attacking the marine safe island might be a goal but again, it would have vastly more impact if they just shot the noble in the head in that case, not to mention make the rest of those fat slobs throw a hissy fit. She absently flicked her scarf behind her, the force of the impact sending a pirate who was terrible at sneaking up on people flying back in a whip like snap into another, moaning in pain. “I’ve spent an extended amount of time dealing with a ninja and a far too sneaky princess. You lot might as well be rampaging bulls compared to them.” Her scarf snapped out again and wrapped around another attacker’s neck, yanking him in the way of some pistol fire. As they stopped to reload, she sent her shield flying into one of the shooters, the other getting his head snapped to the side hard enough for Akemi to hear the crack, the man falling to the ground, whether dead or unconscious was irrelevant to Akemi at this point; it’s not like she needed to play nice now that they had the macrophone anyway. Another pirate met a similar fate when he froze up at the danger that her seemingly innocent scarf was posing just fine on its own. She’d learned the hard way how likely that was to get one killed and was only too happy to be one dishing out the lesson this time around. Maybe they’re really acting to split marine resources. Getting an admiral sent here would cause a vast weakening of military power if something was happening elsewhere to require that level of power. Even so, why not simply kill the noble then wait for the incoming admiral? Given what Bright Eyes seems to desire, purging those wastes of flesh would be right up his alley and killing two birds with one stone is only efficient. There’s something missing from this. She wasn’t sure what the endgame of this attack really was, but until things became clearer one way or the other, she could at least make the area less chaotic. “So, which one of you scum wants to take a forced nap next?” techs

The trio sat still, though it was obvious that they were getting antsy. Still looking about the sniper couldn’t help but comment, “Neither of yal think that was weird? A woman that could shoot magma lasers from her fingers? I swear, she didn’t have a weapon or nothing… and I still can’t get over how she pointed us out from all the way over here.” He said. As a sniper he was the analytic type; able to put together vast numbers of small detail in order to make the ideal shot. There was no secret here that something certainly wasn’t right. Ever since she ducked for cover she had yet to emerge, leaving her friend out in the open after the shot he took to continue to fight. If she were truly making an attempt to stay hidden in cover than wouldn’t she want her friend to be safe as well..? The sniper turned his focus to the other woman who was fighting off a number of the mooks. “I think the marines are getting the upper hand… think we should pick off a few to even things out.” He said, extending his weapon once more, however he wasn’t aimed at any marines. They had both seen what his ideal shot did to a man who was being considered for warlordship; he would have no problem placing a bullet between the eyes of this scamp while she was unprotected by the pink magma shoting one. Meanwhile the fry-pan Viking spoke, “It was odd… but nothing to worry about. It’s not like she will get in our way. And when will that bitch get here! I feel like we’ve been waiting practically forever!” He said. The battle had reached a plateau; no longer did entire mobs of people push and pull against each other; rather now things had spaced out into a number of small battles, sometimes even one-on-one. These scattered themselves across the island and if it weren’t for the marines attempts to tend to wounded and try to save civilians, they most likely would have already over taken their pirate aggressors. As Regin looked over the scene he didn’t need binoculars to tell that it was only a matter of time until the marines got the upper hand, “I’ve grown tired of waiting… I want to get this show on the road with… THESE HANDS!!!” he said, raising his hands in front of himself and glaring at them dramatically. The sniper quickly snapped, “But you heard Semuel! The point is to get the jump on her, you know, element of surprise..!” he said. “He’s right boss, let me go.” The Viking said, clutching the handle of his frying pan before leaping through the air towards the main battle field; he would land on the ground with an earth shaking thud before marching towards the nearest marine, bashing him over the head with the frying pan. One by one he proceeded to one-hit OK marine mook after the other, and, drawing attention to himself, several pirates not only recognized but rallied round the man. The sniper watched on, shaking his head, “Tsk… you muscle bound assholes are always so involved.” He said, preferring the more indirect approach to taking down his opponents as once again he focused his scope on the spice girl (lol). “Hmm… it’s only a matter of time now though. I had better get into position. Handle thing here Kris.” he said before leaping off the Ferris Wheel himself, landing on the ground beneath. The sniper went back to scanning, deciding on his next batch of targets before seeing a number of marines in the distance that were actually grouped up, apparently rallied together to fight, “Ooohh… jack pot.” He said with a menacing smile. Without much more hesitation he began firing perfectly placed rounds, taking out one soldier at a time from insane distance. The three Bright-Eyes pirates alone were strong enough to remove any opposition, but they had to keep the game going a bit longer in order to spring their trap successfully on the Admiral that was soon to arrive. Elizabeth’s gambit had paid off. She was able to determine several things by listening to their conversation while executing her tactic. First none of them seemed to have any true extrasensory abilities. They were unable to sense her traveling underground and seemed to be under the impression she was still hiding behind the building. They expressed confusion as to why she hadn’t sought to protect Pedro, meaning they had no idea she had no relation to the man other than their initial meeting not too long ago. She could tell that the sniper was focusing on Akemi, but it didn’t seem like he was about to fire upon her. The Fry Pan wielder and the landman karate user both had grown impatient and jumped down. They began to head off in different directions to take down the Marines leaving Kris Kyle’s alone to act as scout/sniper. Kris decided to change targets to a group of Marines rallying in the distance. There would be no better time than this to strike. Elizabeth changed courses and tunneled to a position somewhere behind Kris from where he was aiming and shooting. Once she was in position her body began to tremble and shift as she changed forms. “I shall need speed to catch him off guard, I can only hope this works.” Elizabeth thought to herself. Body elongated, her human form flickering and distorting into a larger reptilian shape. Her wings extended and covered in obsidian scales as did her skin. Her hair melded into obsidian plates and long sharp spines extended around her. Her fingers warped into sharpened claws and she could feel her spine popping as new segments grew outward forming a long tail ending in wicked barbed spikes. She rose to the surface as quietly as magma bubbled around her. She had pulled herself out of the ground behind the building outside of Kyle’s line of view. When she pulled out of the ground she crept to the corner and waited for Kyle to take a certain position. She saw him aim his sniper rifle and start taking off shots in the distance facing away from her, this was her chase to strike The Sniper Rifle was considered to be the pinnacle of overspecialization within the world of firearms. It possesses unparallel range and stopping power, however this came at the expense of numerous drawbacks. As a weapon it was large and unwieldy, needing a proper stance and support to be fired effectively. Furthermore it was near useless in close quarts, and finally in exchange for incredible precision it came at the cost of an extremely narrow scope that limited the user’s peripheral vision. Elizabeth timed her attack for when he looked down the scoop and focused his fire at the marines in the distance. The moment she pulled the trigger the sky the ground beneath her exploded. She had formed 5 craters beneath her which all erupted simultaneously, generating a short but intense series of bursts which she used to propel herself at high speeds, straight towards her quarry. With a flap of her might wings she was airborne and thanks to the bursts she had managed to accelerate to her top speed near instantly. This form specialized in unprecedented speed, if he did manage to pull up from his scope, turn around, and look at her it would be to late. She would already be upon him, and the sniper rifle was far from the best option when it came to quickly choosing a topic. What he would see however would be enough to turn most men’s blood cold. Elizabeth had activated the special features of her Dire Pelt obscured her bodies features, making her appear like a writhing mass of deathly shifting black shapes in a vaguely large reptilian shape exploding across the sky aimed straight for him. Elizabeth had also formed 5 craters facing forward which fired a series of continuous stream of her magma lasers at him mid flight, 2 were focused on where her was, and the other 3 were spread apart in a net like formation hoping to catch him. Even if he managed to dodge he’d be catching several beams clipping him en passing, and with her speed the fact that she had surprised him while he was focused on targeting something else. If he didn’t dodge he’d be scorched by the twin magma beams and then slammed into and lacerated by her forms sharpened scales, all the while she kept pouring on the speed with miniature volcanic eruptions propelling her faster and faster through the air like a rocket engine. techniques |

Lucas moved through the park with the group of troops that were still able to move. It wasn't much but any kind of reinforcement was better than none what so ever. Because of the wide spread chaos going on, troops were needed else where more than in certain areas. "Keep up, don't fall behind, we're going into a hot zone. I can feel some strong presences ahead." The marine cried out to his loyal followers, it was only right that they knew where the red haired marine was about to lead them. Some might want to sneak off and join groups who were not heading into places they knew only the strong would survive. Lucas on the other hand, he liked pushing himself to these limits, ever since he figured out what he body was capable off. "We're with you sir!" Fools in some sense, but they were all prideful and that might soon be the end of it for them. But Lucas didn't comment, he simply continued to run towards the Ferris wheel as a leader should run. His Orange eyes looked forward, he could feel something on the Ferris wheel but he couldn't see it at the moment. Then suddenly a man dropped to his side, blood burst out of his head as the back of his skull seemed to spontaneously explode. Lucas's eyes widen, he didn't have more than a moment to react before another man's skull burst opened. "Sniper!" It was the only word he need before the men decided to take cover as he was. He hid behind one of the booths in their path, it seemed like the best and quickest way to get out of the line of sight. More men dropped dead as the fire continued. The marine looked around, there were a lot of booths in their path but he wasn't sure how good this sniper was. He coated his head and his chest in black haki armor to protect some of of the vital parts of his body. "Move quickly! Try not to stay visible for too long!" he yelled out to his men as he began to move on, taking cover in the booths while making his way towards the Ferris wheel.

Akemi was considering that all things considered, the attack could be going worse for the not jerkish pirates’ side than it was right now. For whatever reason, likely related to something that Elizabeth or some other high ranking marine was doing, the ones behind this affair were staying out of the way for now, and the rest of the pirates were, well they were numerous, and murderous, but that didn’t make them particularly dangerous to her. After spending so much time around the relative monsters in battle prowess that she travelled with, it was nice to have these small confirmations that she was actually perfectly capable of handing the more normal level threats on her own, even without that devil fruit of hers – for the best really given that she only had a basic grasp of what it even did, far less using it without potentially getting the bystanders caught up. As yet another pirate was knocked away by her scarf, Akemi took a moment to take in the new situation. It was going quite well, the pirates were mostly downed either by the marines moving through or from her own efforts and the crowds of patrons were moving off into booths and generally out of the line of fire – she remembered that sniper shot from before, being in the open wasn’t exactly the safest thing to do right now. With no threats in her immediate vicinity she shifted to directly some kids away from the streets. “Okay, come along now, this isn’t a place to stand around-“ The rest of her statement was cut off as the ground itself shook, and just in case anyone thought it was a normal earthquake, the screams of a marine as they got knocked airborne and the pirates gathering to a spot further ahead, yeah it was somewhat obvious at this point that some manner of nonsense was going down yet again. Maybe she should revise her opinion on the main force behind this staying out of things. Okay, if this kept up, it was going to become a real problem, someone was clobbering marines like nothing, and she was hearing shouts of sniper from further away, so with that she quickly got herself within one of the stalls. She used all her ninja skills from hanging around the actual assassin to sneak around, working her way underneath the stands and stalls and staying out of the open until she rose up in a large one with a bunch of people huddled low. It only took a peek to find out why. A large person who looked like a Viking, carving a path through any marines in his way with a giant frying pan and with a mob of pirates cheering him on. Clearly she had found one of the ringleaders and given how much support he had, this was probably not the kind of person who would go down to her scarf in their face. Yet still leaving him be would only cause more casualties and she really couldn’t live with herself if she let everyone get maimed or worse when she could at least try to do something. What though? A direct attack would be stupid, she had nothing quite wide range enough to take out the crowd, all she had was her spiciness and the stalls and…..and there was an idea there. She would lose any direct fight but why in the world would be consider playing nice with pirates? She looked down at the people around her, some were cowering, others were looking angrier. A plan was building in her head even as she looked around, taking the games into mind and where the group was headed. “Hello there my fellow patrons, who is interested in solving our pirate problem before they really start getting out of hand?” She took in her volunteers and a smile spread on her face that would have anyone with decent pranking senses wary. “We’re going to need some more people and to get a few things….” - They of course had to let the group keep on moving – not ahead of them, in fact they were the ones who needed to move in front, a task made quite a bit harder given that they also needed to hide. Fortunately the pirates were taking their time and revelling in their cruelty, giving her enough time to get the teams properly set up, and under cover. “Now remember, these things are dangerous. Do not let anything land on you, keep the gloves on and stay under cover. Trust me, one shot is enough for anyone except the frying pan guy.” Her guerrilla strike force nodded, guns and bombs ready. She held her scarf ready and as soon as the group stepped on just the right spot, Akemi gave the signal, her scarf shooting out and slapping down one of the pirates from behind, sending him into the group. That was the sign for the people she’d managed to gather, mostly the kids and teenagers but with a few more daring and accurate adults in tow, to rise up within the circle of stalls and open fire, spurts of high pressure water from the marine provided water guns to simulate their rifles spraying at the group while water balloons were thrown and shot from slingshots. The water assault of course was something that most people wouldn’t take seriously at all, and in fact the pirate groupies were laughing at the seemingly feeble attack. Akemi was in fact counting on this; the pirates weren’t well trained, but they were plenty trouble compared to the average person and she was relying on their arrogance and dismissal to give her troops the time they needed. After all, she didn’t make sure to outfit each and every one of them with thick sewn together gloves and jackets for no reason. By the time that the first pirate realised that there was something off about the water it was far too late to do anything about it, as pirates started falling to the ground screaming in agony, a couple of the pirates started panicking, apparently those were pirates that had seen the after effects of her fights or they had the sense to realise cause and effect. Either way, it didn’t matter much since they got wet already. For her part, she focused and shot streams of her spice at the frying pan guy before ducking low and moving to a new spot, much like she told the rest of her team to do, so they didn’t become easy targets. She doubted that the spice laced water would do more than annoy him, but if she kept her distance and kept shooting at him, it would keep him too busy to keep up his rampage and maybe she’d get a lucky shot – she was aiming for his eyes for a reason, shredding his eyes would stop him as quick as anything. @Akemi The Viking-esk, frying pan wielding robust figure of a man enjoyed thwacking one one-shotting these marine wannabees left and right. They were half-marines, half amusement park workers after all, and while plenty of them had the basics of what it meant to shoot a rifle straight or how to swing a sword, they were nothing compared to the 'mooks' of the New World. Here he would make quick sport of a few dozen marines before some distraction presented itself. "Hmm?" He said, perking up as he saw a counter attack of water balloons and water guns. He raised an eye brow to this as he thought for a moment. Of course, many of the pirates that had rallied behind him didn't much take heed to the attack, rather, thought it was a quite cute albeit, desperate counter attack. It was only then that he realized that they were just as inexperienced as the marines, "these paradise chumps... so much to learn.." he said, as a few of them began to panic. Of course the water wasn't -just- water. What kind of idiot would try to fight guns and swords with -just- children's toys? They had a confidence about them that was more determined than just kids play things. This was a battle field, and not make-pretend. Of course it was then that he noticed an attack aimed rather specifically for him. Flipping his frying pan about, he allowed the stream of mysterious liquid to collect in the pan; both blocking the substance and allowing him an opportunity to observe it for himself. Looking into his pan as the figure disappeared from view in some psuedo-gorilla warfare tactic, he swished the liquid around. Taking a few sniffs his nostrils and eyes perked up for a moment. This was no doubt the same, or similar substance as what was in the water balloons and water guns, "If you fools hadn't been so careless..." he said out loud, shaking his head. He then proceeded to dip his pinky finger into the liquid in the frying pan and bring it to his mouth. Slurping it off his finger his head grew hot and he began to sweat and classic anime stylizing. "Whooo-wee! Now is that spice or what?!" he said. You see, he was a cook of the grandline, and had sampled all manner of exotic and some what volatile ingredient from across the grand line. He wasn't necessarily 'immune' to the effect of her spice, but certainly had a strange tolerance that the average man would not have. Because of this, he realized that such a potent spice was not natural in such large quantities. Could he be dealing with some kind of a... Spicy devil fruit user? He immediately grinned at the idea of having a human spice rack as a pet. Pouring the liquid out of the frying pan, he then raised it into the sky before slamming it flat against the ground. The result was a shockwave that ripped through the ground itself, flying across the ground and undermining the footing of anyone on the ground; as well as the makeshift shelters or cover that the spice militia had put together, leaving them exposed, "Get ready... it's time to get cooking!" he said with a wide, Viking like grin on his face. @Elizabeth The sniper was no fool. Just because he had his eyes focused on the scope did not mean that the rest of his senses were somehow mute; and a lizard like creature emerging from the ground and taking flight via lava propulsion was one of the most obvious things to ever happen. So much so that it caught the attention of both himself and himself and the landman karate master who had only just dropped to the ground. Now they had both seen first hand the thing that had attacked them earlier, and while neither of them had seen it before, or had any idea why/how it had taken to pursuit them, they did know one thing. "A Mythic Zoan?!" "Well wouldja look at that..." The sniper didn't even bother dodging the beams of lava that were shot at him; he had seen this trick before, and knew exactly what would happen. It only took a minor adjustment in his rifle as his observational haki honed in on the almost unidentifiable but clearly unnature beast that rocketed towards him. He imagined that if it could push itself forward that it could most likely also push itself in some different direction as well; luckily it was flying straight at him now, making the distance shorter and shorter with each passing moment. If it attempted to dodge, he would follow it's movement and shoot it out of the sky one way or another. "Silver bullet..." he said, wasting no time on an enemy that had not only attacked them previously, but was yet unidentified. Why leave anything to chance. The bullet ripped through what seemed to be time and space; faster than what one could perceive, it the bullet ripped directly through Elizabeth. Exploding both on contact and upon hitting the ground some distance behind her. Thanks to her wayward form and the item that shrouded her, she wasn't instantly killed. The bullet would have passed through her, breaking ribs and collapsing a lung almost immediately. The force of a bullet capable of OHKOing a warlord candidate with the proper aim would extinguish the forward momentum of the woman's attempt at attacking him, and left her in near critical condition... And somehow, all of the laval lasers she had launched also missed. It wasn't that the sniper had gone out of his way to dodge them, but the lasers all flew above him. Was it perhaps... that the ferris wheel itself had moved? @ Lucas Lucas' charge would stop for shelter for quite some time. Before the sniper bullets would stop. Pre-occupied with Elizabeth, the sniper's assault would be stopped momentarily; giving them the opportunity to either continue their advance and run head long into the 'officers' of the operation, or flee to safety. ---Meanwhile--- A demanding figure stood, cracking her knuckles in nothing more than a sports bra, sweat pants, and a pair of combat gloves. She was even barefoot; thought she also had a combat knife on his hip for good measure. She could see in the distance what seemed to be the shape of an island.... Justice Island. Their destination. "This damn ship is too slow.." she said, stepping out onto the figure head. "B-but Admiral we have almost arrived, the island is in site!" a marine pleaded with her. "I'm inpatient. Call Vice-Admiral Park. Tell him I'm here." The woman said before jumping off grabbing a paddle and a board, jumping off the figure board and into the water bellow. Landing, she began immediately paddle boarding towards the island while standing; creating her own wake and while being nearly twice as fast as the marine vessel she had come from. With torpedo like speed, she darted towards the island.... Spoiler: click to toggle

"Lt. Trent.." The words fell on deaf ears, Lucas was too preoccupied with the sniper to pay any mind to anything else his men were trying to tell him. He glanced up at the Ferris wheel where he suspected the shooter was attacking from, his head peaking from the corner of safety that was one of the man booths in the middle of the path. His head and chest had been covered in haki, his red hair orange silk shirt and bright orange eyes were the only forms of color left on the upper half of his body. "Lt. Trent..." Lucas looked back at the men he was with, they seemed busy with something else and a bit afraid as well. It was understandable, so many of the men he had brought with him had already fallen before their eyes. The marine needed to motivate them to keep on moving, it was his job after all since he was the one leading this charge. "I need you guys to stay focus right now, I know things look bad but we gotta make it to the Ferris Wheel." "Lt. Trent!" "Now I think the shooting stopped so we should move while we're clear. When we get there I want you guys to lay down some cover fire and-" "Lt. Trent!!!" the words finally reached his ears as he slowed down his thought process and realized his men were trying to tell him something for a while now. "Sir, you have new orders, the Captains want you to secure the transport ships. They're filled with civilians, they want us to evacuate the island before the admiral shows up. They have no idea what kind of battle this will be and want to minimize civilian casualties as well as eye witness accounts in case something goes wrong here. Sir, we're being called back asap." Lucas stopped for a moment to think, looking back at the Ferris Wheel for a moment then back at the group. He wanted to go, not to the civilians but to where the fighting was. There was something about it, the roar of battle that he was starting to enjoy. Not the actual fighting but the fact that his talents continued to grow with ever encounter. Ever since Sky island and his awakening of Haki he had been feeling something different in him, and he was finally starting to understand what it was. Unfortunately he couldn't explore these feelings anymore, his orders changed and his duty as a marine was needed elsewhere. He sighed, wanting to argue with the men about this option but he could see the fear in their faces, they wanted out of this situation badly. It would be selfish of him to bring them in on a battle only he wanted to be apart of. "Alright fine. Change of plans, head to the docks and secure the transport ships. We need to get off the island men." With the shooting stopped the men and Lucas were able to leave the area as quickly as their had gotten there, making their way to the docks where they began to load the ships with civilians. Lucas looked back at the Ferris Wheel as the ship began to depart from the docks, he couldn't help but think, Man, I think I just missed a big opportunity... -Exit Lucas- |

Elizabeth’s folly in this case was attempting to apply rationality and logic to the scenario. In any normal case her tactic would be sound and valid, success almost assured. Given the nature of his weapon, her current understanding of his capabilities, his shift in focus, and her angle of attack coming from his blind spot, there should have been no way for him to react in time to counter her. Again her fault was not her lack of planning, or her actions, it was attempting to apply logic to a situation, and an individual, where logic ought not to be applied. As it stands not only was her adversary a New World Pirate, but one of Bright eye’s best as it turned out. Things like logic, planning, and rationality were meaningless in the face of power and ability that defied expectations and common sense. As such Elizabeth was quite caught off guard when the sniper spun around and fired a shot straight into her chest. Her momentum stopped dead under the force of the blow, and it nearly ripped her apart. She felt the fabric of her dress strain as its armored cloth struggled to contain the blow before it relented. Elizabeth’s eyes started to glaze over as she fell from the sky like a ton of bricks, she impacted the ground, and magma oozed over the earth as she sank into the pool twitching. Elizabeth seemingly down for the count slipped beneath the surface. She sank for a few moments, the earth glowing around her as magma listlessly spewed from various craters she formed, before her eyes snapped open. She coughed up a bit of blackened blood and held her chest. She had come very very close to dying there. She touched her chest and winced. This was not the most grievous injury she had ever acquired, memories of being impaled by The Beast came to mind, but this was certainly a close second. This fight was not something neither she nor Akemi could manage. Below the ground she reached out and could feel that most of the civilians were retreating to the docks and boarding ships. She needed to get Akemi and do the same; this could only mean the Admiral was on their way. In this fight they’d both be of little assistance as it seemed, and they had already done enough in eliminating some obstacles and delaying the mastermind for a bit. Elizabeth shifted forms becoming smaller and featuring a more robust physique and endurance. She quickly pinpointed Akemi’s location and made a B Line for her. Once she was nearby she popped out of the ground near her and nary a word of warning wrapped a wing protectively around the girl and pulled her close. “Hold your Breath Akemi; we’re going underground for a bit.” Elizabeth exclaimed in a raspy pained voice. She would give Akemi little time to worry or think about her words or her condition before she dove back underground and made her way to the docks. Elizabeth popped out of the ground near their ship as it was loading the last of the civilians that it could handle. Elizabeth pulled herself and Akemi out; thankfully the girl was unharmed being shielded from their impromptu trip underground by Elizabeth’s feathery wing. Once above ground Elizabeth shifted back to her more reserved Deceptor Form to let her people know she was not some terrible monster. She then collapsed onto her hands and knees holding her chest which was soaked red straight through her dress. “W-we must go, prepare a medical suite for me if you will, I’m afraid I may need some… serious… atten-“ Elizabeth began as she closed her eyes and fell face first to the ground. Madoka was naturally distraught but managed to pull through her fear and called for Elizabeth to be brought to the medical bay inside their ship. Once the last of the Civilians were on board they departed quickly sailing away. Shortly after they left the Admiral would have arrived and the rest of this ordeal would be left up to fate. Elizabeth’s surgery would go well; she was remarkably tough and she had some of the best doctors money could buy on hand. In just 28 hours her medical procedures were complete and she was awake. She’d be quite sore for awhile, but the blow wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been had she not had the benefit of an unorthodox physiology and several heightened layers of defense to her aid. Elizabeth not one to remain bedridden when there was work to do was on her feet as soon as she was able and making rounds to check on all the other refugees, organize contact with the various people’s friends and families, and trying to help them pick up the pieces and locate lost loved ones. Through it all she had on a wide and comforting smile, but this was merely a well practiced façade. She was conflicted inside, she had failed to protect everyone, and nearly gotten herself and Akemi killed. This world, she thought she had seen it all but apparently she had only scratched the surface. The New World, it seemed like a joke, it made no sense. After her latest round she was walking through the hall when she stopped at a door, a door which was according to the log was supposed to be empty and yet there were 3 people inside. She opened the door and sitting inside was a familiar face and 2 she didn’t recognize. The first was Laharl, the enigmatic messenger from that group that had used her to acquire the Horu Horu no mi from the Kongju Pirates for unknown reasons, the other 2 were an overly tall woman with long Purple hair, a military cap, and wearing not nearly enough clothing. She felt a sudden and unexplained chill when she looked at her, but paid it no mind and quickly suppressed the primal feeing of fear. The other was a surly looking short woman with red hair, a flat chest, and wearing a black tank top and Maroon sweat pants. “Hahaha looks like ya failed; maybe the mistress was mistaken when she wanted to recruit ya huh?” The redhead chortled, only to receive a smack to the back of the head from the taller one. She walked up to Elizabeth and glared at her in the eyes, she was tall, tall enough to be able to look down at the former princess. “Damn this is a good one, she's even in her Zoan form and ain’t backin down from me, guess the modifications don’t work as well for the mythical class. Even that dinoborg Yuri wasn’t able to stand up to me like this. I like her, think I can keep her as a pet?” The crass woman chuckled. Elizabeth paid her no mind and walked confidently past her, brushing her aside with her shoulder and electing a growl from the woman. She stopped right in front of Laharl. “Is this the company your organization keeps? Perhaps I was wrong to consider the offer.” Elizabeth responded casually feigning disgust. Laharl grimaced in the direction of the two and they started to back off. “I apologize Miss Elizabeth, that one is a fighter of sorts, she's made for conflict not diplomacy, and she's a bit sour that she was passed over for the Kongju assignment in favor of you. The munchkin on the other hand is just always like that, she's one of our best minds though I can assure you. Aside from that bit of unpleasantness have you had time to think about our offer? I’m aware you had a bit of trouble, but now I can assume you understand how and why we must operate as we do. This world is full of monsters; any of whom can easily sweep aside countless uninvolved people with little effort. To directly raise the ire of individuals like these would cause our plans to fall, and bring countless deaths upon our consciences. Elizabeth, we need someone as skilled in diplomacy and tact as you, and I believe the Mistress was correct in seeking you specifically out. Won’t you consider joining our cause, so that tragedies like this will not happen again?” Laharl explained in a sympathetic tone. Elizabeth lowered her head. As much as it pained her to admit it, since her conversation with their leader the thought that she had been on the wrong path had been gnawing at her. And this disastrous incident had finally cemented the notion. “Yes… I can see now what she was talking about. Very well, I accept, though do not think I am about to do anything I find unsavory. Just because I believe the ends justify the means does not mean I will abandon my Morality like so many others who have lost themselves in pursuit of their ideals.” The Princess responded. The munchkin and the taller woman and growled and moved over to Laharl and placed their hands on the cloaked figures shoulders. “Very well, we shall be in touch once you recovery is complete and your affairs are in order.” Laharl replied before she and the other three vanished without a trace, gone from the ship and having seemingly slipped into the either itself through unknown means. Elizabeth exited the now empty room and sought out Akemi’s pulse. She quickly made her way to the girl and once she was unoccupied wrapped her up in an unusually tight hug. She held this position silently for some time before hesitantly breaking it and smiling unsteadily at her. “Miss Akemi… I’m sorry. I… I overestimated myself, nearly got us all killed. I had become complacent, and arrogant in my own abilities, thinking I could handle anything that came my way. I must have worried you terribly, and on top of that our vacation was completely ruined. The nerve of these pirates! Well what matters is we are both safe, and we managed to help many others even if we could do no more. I just wanted to say I’m sorry, and I am so glad you are alright. It was a bit foolish of me to run off on my own, if I had just stayed with you I might have not been injured at all. I suppose this means I should trust my safety to you completely. So then what do you say my Knight? Shall we retreat together to the bedroom? I believe Dani has been missing us both, and I could use some more rest if you don’t mind me saying so.” Elizabeth laughed as she wiped a few sparse tears from her eye and motioned to hook her arm around Akemi’s so they might retire together to their room. |
