Dials... This was the second time that he had heard explicitly about 'dials', the first of course coming from Kamina when he questioned the ability of his own sword. From the man's explanation, dials sounded like some kind of gadget... he said that they could 'contain heat' or 'store gasoline'. Was it just an umbrella term for different kinds of container or something? Perhaps a name brand now-a-days that he was just out of touch with? Djazz started to ask exactly what a dial was, but didn't want to seem as though he were out dated. Like many things, he was sure that if he had to know it, he would soon learn it one way or another. With all that, Djazz had completely forgotten to comment on whether or not he needed rest of a nap. The man had brought it up, but the fact that he had one way or another ignored the inquiry might have been hint enough. If there was anything that he did have plenty of, it was sleep, as it was one of the best ways to past the time when time seemed to crawl so slowly. In any case, an explosive sword was also something Izuru had as well! He thought at the time that he briefly wielded the blade that could explode on contact, but recall that it didn't burst into flame or anything. Djazz held bad a sigh. What happened to the good ol' days when a sword was just a sword?! Now, swords were multidimensional weapons with all kinds of mechanisms and gadgets that made them more machine than blade. Though it was hard for him to speak; Tyche was far from normal, but as far as he was concerned, he didn't need to understand any fancy inventor tricks to know how it worked. However, this Commander Xio also talked about the mixing of and experimenting with various different materials; two he had heard of this time being supreme salt and sea stone. He was almost positive that this was an alloy that Kamina was using to some extent; at least the sea stone, "It's crazy to think... there was a time when people made weapons from Iron and Steel alone. Now they can... harden the ocean, or use table salt or forge glass into weapons. I have a hard time keeping up myself..." he said, pondering between hardy bites what possibilities were out there. With the marines resources, they were sure to have their hands on all manner of odd material, ore and alloy. It seemed as though Sea stone remained the 'gold standard' otherwise he would have most likely encountered something new by now... Djazz looked up from his meal to notice that the man had already finished eating. He stopped, blinking for a moment to assess exactly where the food had gone. It were as though a magic trick! Where did it all go!?, "D-did you finish already? That was some impressive eating there..." he said looking back towards the buffet. He suddenly felt the pressure to conclude his meal as well, but he had yet to be satiated himself. He cautiously continued, trying to keep the man talking so that he would have time to continue eating, "So uhh... what's the deal after this? Do we just strap up, walk over there and start cutting things? Do troops need rallying or..." he said, pausing as he realized he had no idea how the marines themselves conducted business. At Stronghold island they fought in pairs and each group was fairly autonomous. He wasn't sure how hive mentality and battle tactics worked out, "It's fine if the details aren't worked out just yet. I'm just being curious but... never mind just going with the flow, so to speak." he said, shrugging off his own question in case it sounded stupid... |

Ginjo's smile grew slightly at the comment on how times were changing; "Indeed .. I remember when I made my first blade with mothers assistance. It was nothing fancy, a simple Iron blade- unbalanced, worthless really. But she treated it like it was the perfect blade." his eyes softened. "I sort of miss those days. A well-crafted Steel blade was treated like a rarety. A titanium blade; even if it was average in design and balance was treated with more worth than most peoples homes and lives." He chuckled dryly as he looked up from his plate at the memories before he arched a brow at him being 'unable to keep up'. "Hm .. Who says you need to 'keep up'? In the end- no matter how many attachments; advancements, technology- that I pour into Ryu." He raised the blade a bit; "They are menial things. A slight advantage useless in the hands of someone weak or unskilled. In the end no matter how good the tool may be, its only as good as the wielder. In the end I think its almost counter-productive. I treat it as a crutch for my own weakness and I know that- but If I need strength and I need it fast, technology is the best answer I have." He smiled lightly- "If you don't rely on such things; that speaks only of your own skill and strength no?" he grinned a bit before he slowly sheathed the blade, and leaned against the table with a shrug- arching a brow as the fact he finished his food was pointed out. "Ah; don't mind me. The military trains us to eat as fast as possible .. you never know when you can be called on duty after all." he waved it off. "Take as long as you need to eat." He chuckled before raising a hand and taking his chin at the question of what was to be done after the meal. "It's not bad to be curious, Mr. Hyperion." he chuckled a bit as he shook his head in amusement at the man acting like it was a big deal he asked a simple question. "Essentially what will happen is I'll gather my troops and split them effectively to keep the base guarded and the town against counter-attacks, specifically the jail. From there we will then take the remaining and cover the cave and its cove with my troops." He then motioned toward Djazz; "After that the plan is as we said." He explained simply as he glanced up- "Though, there is also another option. If you're up for it we could do a quick spar before all that to ensure that we can be in-rhythm during the actual fight. I'm of course no match for you, but the purpose would not be to cause damage anyway- but to instead focus on learning the basics of how we both fight to minimize injuries or mistakes in the true battle." He pondered softly and shrugged, "That of course is up to you. I will not ask you to do such things if they possibly make you uncomfortable showing off any of your skills- I'm sure we'd still be relatively fine fighting without such preparation." He explained with a simple nod. |

Commander Xio continued to speak, not only easing his anxieties about still eating, but ultimately critically reviewing the craft of more complex swords and weapons. Djazz couldn't help but agree with him in some respects, nodding slowly at the sentiment that in some ways having too many 'abilities' became a crutch for the weak. He too had his own crutches after all, but who were to say that these crutches were not a factor in the equation of ones strength? While some purists would insist that it was necessary to rely on nothing but ones raw ability, Djazz understood that ability and talent was supplemented by many factors. It was not just about relying only on ones self, or completely on mechanism and technology, but rather, a fine balance that made a prudent warrior on the field of battle, "True... but there are so many different weapons than just swords, and each have their purpose. I wouldn't sell a sword short just because it has a few more bells and whistles. A martial artist would say that using a sword itself is a crutch, but I don't think so. My blade is an extension of my hand, just as a fire breathing, exploding sword is all part of what makes you strong, I am sure Xio." he said with a smile, between bites of course. Commander Xio continued to explain to him the protocol of organizing the troops and even reassured him that he would be 'okay' asking questions. It wasn't necessarily the question asking he was worried about, but rather, the answers. He knew himself well enough to know that he was a very cerebral and thoughtful fellow. He spent plenty of time as it were letting thoughts swirl around in his head and perhaps if he were smarter he would come to some conclusions! While 'ignorance was bliss' was a saying often used to describe the mysterious happiness behind the dull witted, he took it more as a doctrine to not try to learn or know any more than he had to be responsible for. He was sure that at the end of the day, Commander Xio would be able to conduct his men with adequate prudence. He did however, insist that perhaps the two of them participate in a little spar before hand. Djazz nodded in agreement with a mouth full of food as Xio continued before finally swallowing, "Ahh yes, that's a good idea. I'm always used to warming up before a fight anyway. Most would be afraid of getting tired but... I'd be more afraid of being stiff or too cold out there. Been on that boat a while without as much as swinging my blade. It would be wise to wake it up a bit! He said, concluding with the last bite. Looking down between the few plates he was a bit disappointed that he didn't have more time to really enjoy his meal. In spite of Xio insisting that he take his time he was still pressured by his own cognitions. He could only hope that the buffet would continue to be open afterwards! He leaned back in his chair, feeling another odd neurotic feelings, "I apologize... I am not so used to feeling as though following along... but whenever you are ready I suppose you can rally your troops or, spar or hell, take a nap? My agenda is yours," He said. Djazz was fairly flexible in that he didn't mind which course of action they took but felt off not knowing exactly what to do next. Even though he agreed to a spar, he didn't know where to go; neither could he lead Xio there. Djazz was, as the guest, in some ways dependent on Xio |

Ginjo's lips curled up a bit in a smile at the sort of reassurance and compliment by Djazz, chuckling a bit and raising his hands and intertwining them, his chin resting on their backs as he listened quietly. Of course as it came to the concept of the spar, he simply nodded lightly- Ginjo was all for a training spar really; at the moment they just didn't have the time for such, perhaps the next time they met they would however- who knew. With that in mind, and Djazz seeming to be of the mind that a quick spar would in fact be beneficial to them- Ginjo waited till Djazz was entirely done before rising and nodding lightly. "Alright. A quick spar it is then." He chuckled and gathered the dishes, placing them on the far-right counter where they were scooped up to be cleaned. "In that case, lets go to an area we won't completely decimate .." he chuckled softly as he straitened up and motioned for him to follow. Leading the swordsman out the door toward the main twin doors and into the hall- which led to what appeared to be an elevator that he entered and waited for Djazz to enter. Once they were in, he pressed the bottom for the bottom floor as they slowly sank down several stories to the point they were obviously underground. Once it was done, the doors opened to reveal a pearly white hallway with arrows along the floors of different colors leading to different doors of matching colors throughout a network of hallways. Ginjo moved forward, making a stop first at the door on the right where he entered which had his name across it. Entering the room, revealed a wide variety of things- unfinished projects like half-made cybernetics, flamethrowers, a rocket launcher that he was repairing- several attempts at "artificial dials" and so forth that littered several work stations, lab setups, chemicals bubbling in different containers and more. Ginjo moved past this all however toward two large tanks, he took the two cords and connected them to the blade- and flipped a switch on the tanks, and then the sword. The first flooded with an immense amount of pressurized gas that the sword seemed to greedily absorb despite physics saying it should only hold a few tablespoons by definition of the hilts "storage size". Instead it drained the massive tank to half-full, and then the next switch was flipped- and roaring inferno surged in the next one, and the flames as well were absorbed by the dial as he braced it and watched the flames be drained away into the sword as well. "Last one .." He murmured as he turned toward the large blacksmithing forge- and outright stabbed the blade into the roaring furnace through the opening that was obviously designed for it. He whistled to himself lightly as the blade remained entirely cool despite being in the heat as it absorbed the incredible heat- until he nodded and three clicks were heard from the hilt signalling it was "topped off". Drawing it free, and sheathing it on his back. "Alright .. now for the main event." He chuckled softly, nodding and moving toward the door- "Thank you for being patient." As Ginjo moved forward, holding the door as he exited- swiping a card to re-lock it behind them and heading deeper into the "labs" could only be assumed, before the red line was all that was left under them as they walked. Landing at the foot of a double-door that slowly slid open to great them, revealing a large three story tall training room- dummies on one side, targets on the other. The walls plated with what appeared to be steel, or titanium as he raised his hand tot he back of his head. "Least things won't get too outa' hand in here .." He pondered as he reached up and grasped the blades hilt on his back. "Ready, Mr. Hyperion?" |

So it was decided. The two would have a quick warm up before they went off to take down the criminals who had been jail broken. Djazz thought the concept was funny in some ways... here these criminals had only just been broken out of jail and instead of repenting or making the best at their second shot at life what did they do? Join a convent of other released criminals to continue to be things in the name of injustice. If they were smart they would at least lay low for a little while, but no, they were right back on the band wagon! Stupidity like that could only be reward with a full ride, no expenses paid trip back to jail... In any case, they stood from the cafeteria and Djazz followed Commander Xio deeper into the marine's base. Not only was this his first time inside of a functional base, it was also the first time seeing some of the depth that made up one of these bases. They passed through what seemed like an armory, but as they continued to descend, Djazz's eyes couldn't help but glance over a great number of different objects of mysterious form and origin. Again, this to him served as a single sample of a population. If this one marine base had all sorts of weird experiments and toys then whose to say that all of them did not also produce such an odd inventory. Of course, they could also have confiscated much of this from criminals and others and just deemed this place proper storage... either way, Djazz was left to speculate and didn't want to ask questions. Though Xio seemed trusting enough to bring him down here, he didn't want to give off the impression that he was poking his nose in something that was none of his business. Snapping back from his distractions he realized that they were down here to -refuel- the sword. He watched curiously as these 'Dials' appeared to have a specific purpose that he couldn't quite put his thumb on; the mechanism was simple, but how was he able to absorb things such as liquid or fire into a weapon? The sword didn't appear to have any kinds of containers, and the volume of liquid he displaced was far more than what could be contained in said, the hilt of the blade alone. Though he spoke no words, he watched as something akin to a magic trick took place. He made simple note of this, nodding as Xio apologized and thanked him for his patience, then walking with him to their next destination... While he assumed they were going to go back outside, it seemed as though they arrived at a training facility of some sort. Djazz gave a puzzled look as his eyes scanned the room wondering why such a place would be situated in such an odd area of the marine base. But then it clicked! This wasn't just a training room, but a -testing- room; a safe contained environment to try out the weapons, experiments and gadgets from the previous room, "Ahh yes... I imagine this would be more than enough." He said, walking a few paces before reaching his right hand across his body to retrieve his blade. As he slowly drew it, "Yes, of course. Something tells me that with that heated blade of yours it won't be hard to break a sweat." He said, alluding to their objective of 'warming up'. It had been since before his original sword broke that he last squared off with a swordsman. Djazz was in some ways, refreshed and excited to finally be about to put blade on blade once more. |

He blinked, and chuckled softly. "I think that you may be over-estimating my abilities just a bit." He smiled softly- before he reached up and with a slow breath, drew the blade out from the sheath. He has two options really. He could take this seriously, and utilize his Kings Haki- or be more carefree and keep to the spirit of the 'warm up'- he decided on the later option. With this in mind, Ginjo raised the blade and didn't even use the dials- keeping it simple as he slowly shifted his footing. The young man's feet slowly spread out and rooted in place, one leg moving forward and raising a knee as his other foot rose up to place all his weight on his toes and the main tendon- both hands resting on the blades hilt as he leveled its edge vertically toward Djazz. It was a simple stance, one that utilized Kendo with a few alterations related to western swordsmanship as well. Keeping to this style, Ginjo seemed to wait patiently for Djazz to keep his own stance. ".. One, Two, Three." He stated simply- a moment after saying three, he flickered forward- of course to someone like Djazz he was in fact rather slow, probably a bit faster than half the man's speed. Ginjo was certainly superhuman, and far beyond a 'normal' commander- but in comparison to powerful individuals like Djazz he was nothing. Still it did not deter the young man whom utilized the Soru to boost his lacking speed and clear the distance between himself and his fellow swordsman. Ryuu no Tsume .. The thought echoed throughout his mind, as Ginjo's muscles clenched and Haki burst through his arms and body as the katana flickered through the air and aimed a simple, but effective slash infused with Haki as well as a natural skill beyond most swordsman with the blade as if it breathed around it. The strike was much stronger than his speed, and the tip of the Katana aimed to 'strike' his fellow swordsman at his right shoulder, to his left hip. However he was not some new blood. He would pull his strike back at the last moment if it did manage to hit Djazz, so that it simply felt like a wack from a bokken instead of a sword piercing him. Though Ginjo doubted such a precaution was needed- the likeliness of his attack landing being rather slim. However still he felt it was important to ensure Djazz would not be harmed just encase- the movement of the blade was aimed to carve him from shoulder to hip; and should it succeed Ginjo's movements would be placed so that the hilt of his blade and its base edge could be utilized correctly for a defensive block, or parry. He of course also decided mentally that using his other forms of Haki wouldn't really be considered "cheating" in a fight against someone whom was likely far greater than him in a multitude of skill and abilities. He would be rather surprised if someone that had spent so much time in the Grand Line did not also have Haki, after all. The thought caused a slight twitch to his lips in amusement as his blade lashed out, seeking the flesh of his fellow swordsman to "claw". Current Stats Techniques Used

Ahh, A Kendo stance. How refreshing... The man bothered to count to three before springing into action. A fair courtesy to give someone for a spar and one he appreciated. The man sprung forward in a flicker, and at a glimpses, the repeated foot strikes to the ground before his burst of movement insisted that this was some variant of the Soru technique. While the name was a bit different the usage was the same, and enough of a clue for Djazz to brace himself for the incoming opponent. Having fought numerous opponents who used the technique, seen it dozens of times and being able to perform it himself, Djazz was well poised for what it was capable of. And in a flicker, the commander appeared before him ready to attack! Djazz's style was that of a one handed style, and lately he had been trying to improve it even further! His idea was to make a single arm as strong as two arms, and with some success. The diagonal slash was in good form and batting it away or parrying it would seem unreasonable. Instead, Djazz stepped forward, allowing the two blades to clash around the swords base, effectively blocking while also forcing his opponent to block. The cracking sound of the edges of two blades grinding against one another stirred, "I think you may be under-estimating your abilities." he reflected and reframed as he used his sword to push off of that of his opponents, sliding backwards to a safe distance. This was the mark of a true spar, or any fight for that matter; the first clashing of blades. It was the same to say of any warrior that their first class be something of a neutral one and just from the first attack, Djazz already had a feel for the man's speed, his strength, and his form. There was some truth in those who say that you do not understand a man until you come to blows with them. Stepping forward and then lunging, Djazz reciprocated not with a slash but with a thrust. The stab was aimed towards the man's hands and the hilt of the blade. This was an awkward position for any weapon wielder to be put in, as without adequate protection for the hands and fingers it was fairly difficult to completely block or parry forward momentum -and- adjust ones stance when the target is the thing that is holding the blade in the first place. A stab also extends the arm and the blade, keeping considerable distance in reach between the two and making it hard to counter attack... How would the commander respond? Stats Tech

The clash was to be expected; Djazz was far faster than him even when he utilized his Echo- there was only so much one could do against someone so much faster and stronger than oneself. Of course; as the man's blade clashed with his own at the hilt and he struggled against it; his arms were the one giving way- and he was forced back nearly twice as far as Djazz had been from the clash. Still, to his credit he withheld his footing- showing he was used to fighting uphill battles; hell- when he really thought of it there wasn't a single fight he had ever been in that had been even. A slow smile formed at that thought- there was always a bigger fish; it was the entire point of spars and training after all. With this thought in mind his eyes narrowed- watching as the blade shot toward him; the speed- even with such a casual attack was tremendous and he could feel the wind gust from the blow alone. There was no way he could defend using normal terms; and so he did what he could instead; his Haki reached out- dipping into the surface thoughts of Djazz as he watched the mirror-images of the man's next few actions. His eyes spotted the movements, and shifted his footing appropriately as he clenched a fist; and an invisible barrier of Haki formed around his hand as he twisted his fist wrapped around the hilt of the blade. Normal defenses weren't going to work against this man; even his strongest Haki Barrier wasn't even close to strong enough to stopping him. Instead he would have to use it far more strategically; and he did just that. Using his observation Haki to predict the next few motions; along with the natural amplification of his sensory and speed with it- he was able to just barely managed the counter he required. The invisible armor that formed around his fist, formed in a circular edge to surround his arm and fist- and in the same motion he twisted his fist as if he was 'revving' his sword, causing the blades tip to catch the barrier at an angle and mis-direct it's force to the side instead. This however had the slight drawback of the parrying force making Ginjo's blade be knocked to a horizontal station over Djazz's arm's thrust- placing the blade above Djazz's sword-arm as the sword went past him. In the same motion it allowed Ginjo to position himself in the "weak spot" that all thrusting attacks formed. Placing Djazz's blade to the side of him- and leaving Ginjo right infront of his fellow swordsman; the positioning closing the gap as his blade came in horizontally from Djazz's sword-side, but thanks to the positioning placing him past the normal guards a sword could pull off. The horizontal slash up Djazz's arm aiming to instead slice into the man's chest from his sword-arms shoulder to his opposite shoulder over his chest; of course if it hit because he measured his force once more it would be like a Bokken-strike, and less a razor sharp blade. Though Commander Xio may not have been aware of it, Djazz had drawn the blade so that the reverse edge was the side he would slash with; in short, the dull edge of the blade would be unable to cut and even if he was struck with an attack, would not sustain any damage. Just as Xio was slightly pulling his attacks to prevent harming Djazz, Xio provided the same courteous. In any case, Djazz as not surprised when he felt the minor resistance that mimic that of the use of armament haki. In fact, already with the knowledge that he had King's haki at his disposal, he wouldn't be surprised if he also had observational haki equipped as well. Thus, he had to be somewhat patient with his attacks; it seemed counter intuitive that someone fasters, sharper and more sturdy required -more- waiting, and not less, but form experiencing, he knew that attacking someone who was skimming his mind would end up casting his thoughts against him. His thrust was effectively parried thanks to the use of haki and fine angling of Commander Xio's sword. As mentioned, he used the extension of his arm and the reach of the blade to keep fair distance between him and Xio while stabbing at this hands, and thus, his momentum wouldn't carry him carelessly past Commander Xio. It would be silly to over commit when attempting a thrust without full conviction that the blow would be a successful one. Either way, Xio stepped into the space that the parry had created, using the 'weak spot' to create an opening form which to counter attack with a by coming across his body with the blade, Commander Xio would be hoping to score a blow that was impossible to block thanks to being inside of his own swords blocking range. This was indeed a smart tactic as most swordsman had a certain range they preferred to keep their opponent at and getting inside of this range turned their strategy sour. And it would have worked! Conventionally, he only option would be a hasty retreat to put space between the two of them and avoid the attack. However, Djazz allowed himself to react based on instinct; leaving cognitive strategy aside in order to prevent being read too obviously by observational haki. Also, Djazz was a one-handed swordsman! While Commander Xio's sword stance used both hands, Djazz had one hand completely free... Thus, as the sword progressed forward, he raised his hand a matter of inches, allowing the sword not to hit his chest or shoulder, but to be hit flat on the palm of his hand. As the attack was blocked, he clasp his hand down hard around the blade, grabbing it and killing the momentum. Meanwhile, his sword hand pulled back, towards himself in his own horizontal swing. It Xio looked closely he would be able to see that Djazz's hand was no longer its natural brown hue, but rather, had been stricken an opaque black color... If he was perceptive, he would find that his suspicions about Djazz potentially having haki were indeed correct. Having clasp Xio's blade in his left hand and slashing back horizontally with his right hand, Xio would have to either take the blow, abandon his sword to dodge, or resort to more extreme or highly creative measures. Djazz was well aware of the sword's fire and heat mechanisms by now, and trusted that in such a spar they wouldn't be using such technologies; certainly factors he would have accounted for in a normal fight. Of course, Djazz's own sword had attributes that he was neglecting to mention as well, but you can never be too careful! Tech

Ginjo's eyes narrowed as his Haki saw through the motions; visualizing the action of Djazz's hand raising to catch his blade. Did he want to loose his hand? He would have to adjust his strikes power accordingly to just cause a scratch! However, that thought was interrupted as the hand that rose was covered in an ebony sheen- the clash of sparks like steel on steel making his lip slowly curl in surprise. So he did have Haki- and he could perform hardening instead of the basic invisible barriers he could perform; so a different level then his own. That was worth noting; quickly however he had much larger concerns as the man's hand grabbed his sword in its grip; and in the same motion his own blade tried to slash him horizontally. He narrowed his eyes and and quickly put in the options- he could of course use his sword to explode point blank in fire and heat and it would solve this situation near instantly. But that wasn't his style for a spar. Instead, he immediately came up with another alternative- narrowing his eyes his Haki fluctuated, and suddenly several thin barriers formed, layered atop one another on the impact-zone of the incoming blade. The first of course would be shattered easily, weakening it only slightly- however the second, then third, and then fourth would even with a tremendous amount of force being taken away from the slash. Far more importantly however, as the slash was trying to force its way through a quad-layered barrier of Haki each nearly as strong as Iron- Ginjo put in the true defensive action and used that time and defensive measure to slow the blow long enough for his grip on the blade to tighten and narrow his eyes. He didn't want to do to much damage to the man, so instead he would aim carefully- with that in mind his grip on the blade tightened. As Djazz's blade was about to break the second barrier, the energy and Haki around his blade manifested, before the armor coating that Djazz had suddenly began to crack in the blades grip- and Ginjo's foot rose upward slowly. By the time Djazz was breaking the third barrier his foot would of risen up- and kicked otuward toward Djazz's chest. Using the barriers to guard, his kick to force Djazz back (possibly) but more importantly throw himself back, while his own Haki-amplified razor like blade would slide right out of the hardened Iron-like grip thanks to its sharpness. The final aim was to slash through the hardened haki layer, but not the man's flesh- using his own arm strength and his kick to create distance to get away from the swordsman so they both could have breathing room. Only possible thanks to the multi-layer barrier that he used to guard. How effective the blade on the man's hand was- Ginjo was unsure, but he used that momentum to try to fly backwards out of range of the man's follow-up attacks; he was on the defensive now. That was to be expected however, the man certainly had the advantage in basically every aspect- Gin was creative with his abilities and techniques; but creativity and strategic placement of the body and weapon only went so far against overwhelming power. This wasn't a comic book; it would only buy him time- of course he was only using half his arsenal- but as a trade of that Djazz likely wasn't even using half of what he could do. He was outmatched, and it caused a slight smile on his lips- if it wasn't an uphill battle than there would be no point- he would gain nothing from it after all. Mid-air from his kick he waited to see how Djazz would react to the situation, he had nearly over-used his Haki and had to deactivate his observational abilities using his Haki to manifest the barriers .. he still needed to work on his discipline it seemed. Djazz allowed things to play out. As his sword came to Commander Xio's side it was met with an ethereal resistance that he could only understand to be armament haki. Amusingly enough, Commander Xio had place much of his focus in deadening his attack with multiple layers of haki protection. He also didn't attempt to flee just yet, rather, pushed into Djazz's hand in an attempt to break his hold of the sword. With little to no momentum behind his pushing force he was relying on technique to push through his iron hard hide. Djazz need only increase the strength of his haki shell from iron to steel in order to keep his hold on the man's sword by brute strength. He also had a technique specifically for cutting things promptly even without the momentum of a full swing. With his sword only stopped by the armament haki barriers, all he had to do was continue to push forward and soon there would be no room for which barriers could be used. And even though Commander Xio and Djazz were close enough that Xio had stepped into the range of his sword, he could somehow raise his foot high enough to strike at his chest! This man was quiet the gymnast to have the functional flexibility needed to perform such a feat! But as a swordman and not a martial artist, his attempt would be meager at best. While in a normal fight he would have ended things rather promptly, it seemed fair to have Xio push off of him with his foot in order to create space. Djazz took a brief second to inspect his hand. As he anticipated, the force behind the attack wasn't persistent enough to break his natural armor, and if he felt the need, he would have used steel hardening. That said, Djazz could tell that Xio's use of haki was becoming strained; not necessarily from any straight forward signs, just from his own pondering of what it would take to form multiple barrier to defend against one brutal attack from say.. Kamina. Ultimately it would take quite the bit of effort, and he imagined Xio expended himself to make that maneuver. Djazz paused a moment, raising his left hand, no longer black with the armament of haki, "Shall we continue or start getting to business? I wouldn't want either of us expended to the point of fatigue before we go fix those prison breakers." he said, smiling as if reciprocated his own smile earlier. |

Ginjo could tell he was outmatched; hell he had known that before they even started- but it was becoming more and more obvious to him as a grin slowly formed at his lips. Taking a slow breath as he let his Haki recover, and eyed the young man quietly for a moment as he shifted. ".. I'm far weaker without Ryu I suppose .. that's fine. All the more reason to train to remove that Handicap." His grin widened a bit before he raised a hand and nodded; "I think that's enough for a warm up .. though In a few months, I definitely want to see how I scale against you again." He smiled- and for the first time he seemed rather warm about it before he tucked his blade slowly clicked into its sheath once more. Raising a hand he offered it simply for Djazz to take; "Your haki is far superior to mine as well .. I need to learn how to harden my body like that. The barriers and armor are useful but they only go so far." He chuckled dryly before raising a hand and stretching slowly- his foot hurt; it had felt more like kicking off a wall as a child then it had kicking off someone's chest to try and make room. Slowly he tilted his head as his smile grew slightly; it really was incredible just how strong some of these individual's were. Shaking his head in amazement he would shake the hand firmly whenever it was taken; if it was taken. If not Ginjo would lower it and simply not comment on the matter- instead of dwelling on it. He shook his foot a bit to get feeling back into it, before he glanced over his shoulder at the door and frowned. "Suppose the fun is over .. we get to deal with the real issue now." he pondered, moving toward the door and picking up the Den Den Mushi on the wall; his words were simple. "Have my assault squads gathered at the exit of the base, we're dealing with the Jailbreaks." He stated simply- the reply of "Yes Sir!" was heard from the other end before Ginjo nodded lightly and looked over his shoulder to Djazz. "If you're ready, Mr. Hyperion then so am I." He stated with a light nod- before he pushed the doors button once more- and stepped forward out the door, holding it for the man to also exit before the trip back up would be done. Unlike the trip down it was rather quick, as there was no need to stop by a room to "Recharge and Refuel" Ryu once more. Instead as the elevator clicked at the top floor; Ginjo would move out and head toward the exit. His disposition slowly changing as he began to enter "Commander Mode" so to say- stepping out into the sunlight as he closed an eye against the glare. There waiting was at least ten squads of marines; of all species and backgrounds- fishmen, humans, and anything in-between. Ginjo's original crew that he had spent the last few months on the island with, and saved far before coming to this place as well. ".. You all already know your formations and actions. You do not know the mission details however." He motioned politely toward Djazz; "Our friend here has agreed to assist us; he will cut open the top of the cove, and me and he will deal with them by ourselves. Your jobs are simple, surround the cove and tunnel exits, ensure any escapee's or stragglers are halted." The instructions were short, simple and to the point- he trusted his soldier's to know what to do- they had been through far worse than this together with Kaine. The mass-salute was the only answer he needed, and the sound of horses neighing filled the air as the horses were brought out for ease of travel- otherwise it'd take all day to get the troops there. |

Djazz inhaled slowly and exhaled a sigh of relief. Even though it was 'just a spar' he could sense a determination in the man that would make him difficult to deal with even if it were just in practice. Though he hadn't expended himself too much, the feel of his blade in his hand and the timing associated with combat quickly awakened. He could feel the adrenaline coursing through him even now, and it would be all he needed to prepare for the real battle ahead, "I hate to be the one to say that you have great potential, but with King's haki, I can only imagine that you're haki will one day surpass mine." he said cracking a smile, "Yeah! I was nervous about that sword. Fire and explosions.. man, I'm thankful that you were cool headed enough not to use it in a spar! Plenty of men wouldn't have had the discipline to hold back, but I'm glad you did." he said, admitting that it would have been a completely different fight had he not been under the assumption that they were just warming up. Pulling his sword across his body and promptly sheathing it, he shook the mans hand this time (though fighting the urge to transition into a 'fist bump'). Declaring the fun over, the two men wandered from this fighting grounds as he began to make commands over the den den mushi. Apparently they had already prepared some manner of plan and it was simply a matter of making the call in order to execute it, "Yes, ready as I'm going to be." He said when asked if he was ready for action. Taking an elevator expedited the process by which they would ascend to the top, and given how quickly they returned to the surface Djazz was surprised to find a small army of marines there waiting for them. Had they been there this whole time, or had they simply scrambled from the den den mushi call? Either way, Commander Xio's leadership façade appeared as he began barking orders typical of any marine. There was some level of protocol to be followed and Djazz wasn't surprised to see the code switch. Rather, he waited patiently, even being announced and giving only a simple nod when a few eyes fell upon him. Without a proper uniform he obviously stood out like sore thumb, but at the same time because Xio introduced him, he wasn't given nearly the number of off putting looks that he thought. He was slightly surprised to see horses as part of the ambush plan as well. He almost laughed at the thought that in spite of everything that had happened, the appearance of horses was the thing that surprised him the most. He could most likely travel just as quickly if not faster by land than on beast, but wanted to follow suit, "Well, Commander Xio, though I have seen the map I have only been here a short time. As per usual... you lead, I follow." He said, specifically with in ear shot of his men. Though he was introduced as 'his friend', he didn't want there to be any gossip of who he was or what the rank order was of his appearance. By making it clear that Xio was leading, those who followed his lead would be more keen to his command. And so they set out to the cove... |

Ginjo laughed softly; "Perhaps. But it will take a great deal of time for something like that .. my Haki is far stronger in the core of just that- observation and armament is still rather weak and shaky." He pondered, stepping forward as they walked- he made no comment on the lack of his sword being used to its full extent. He doubted even with that, that it would actually change anything at all- it didn't seem like the type to really have an effect in a battle against someone like Djazz. Especially considering the fact that he was certain Djazz had barely even used a tenth of his arsenal, and likely not even half his real power. He noted the expression on Djazz's face at the horses and shook his head, "Don't worry about the horses, it's so my men can keep up with us." He explained simply- before he leap up, tapping his foot against the air and bouncing lightly on the air as he glanced down at the men and women as they got on their "loyal steeds" and then nodded. "Forward, Stay in formation till we get there and move into position- me and Djazz will do the rest! Fire your signal's once your squadron is in position- dismissed!" The cry of 'yes sir!' filled the air before the horses spun- and the squads broke into formation- charging forth like a tidal wave of white cloaks. Lightly tapping the air he nodded softly and looked down to Djazz, "Shall we?" He then kicked off the air- and with a burst shot forward as he dashed along the air, quickly overtaking the horses without the need to worry about things in the way on the ground. As he dashed forward it seemed to be his last worry, the movements of his feet tapping against the air propelling him forward- trust Djazz could easily keep up as he moved forward through the air. The soldiers had taken notice that Djazz had let Ginjo lead, and it seemed to ease them as they looked calm and determined without glancing back or second guessing anything as Ginjo led the way from above, remaining just slightly ahead of the group. Leading the platoon toward the beach, and hanging a hard right as he dashed along- until they quickly got to the point of the large cave of stone. The marble-lick rock rose high into the air, and protected the cove that it rose above, the sides surrounded by spiked rocks and coral reefs under the waves, the outer mouth open but no way to get in accurately. The back of the rock held several openings that were made naturally by water slowly carving the paths open over time, and Ginjo landed lightly atop the massive stone- looking down at it carefully. He could possibly cut it; but he doubted it- it would take him ages to carve his way through it; his cutting techniques were designed to be a swordblade length- not a roof. His gaze instead traveled to his men that got into position, covering both entrances as he looked to Djazz and waited patiently for the man. Techniques Used

As if Commander Xio wasn't already full of surprises, Djazz was once again impressed to see the man take to the skies in what appeared to be flight! While he had seen Soru numerous times, this would be his first time seeing Geppou first hand. Taken back by the very idea of flying by kicking off of the air, Djazz was slow to begin following after. Luckily, it seemed sustained flight didn't necessarily make a person faster, but only allowed an individual to run in the air; as Djazz was easily able to keep up with a run that seemed to others like a series of leaps and bounds along the ground. It seemed Xio's legion of men on horse back followed suit. Djazz could easily feel the force of men moving both through the air through sound and through the ground by the near thunderous clamping of galloping feet. Others that saw the uniformed mass would be aware that the marines were on the move, and it was most likely that if the enemy had and look outs or scouts (which any hide out most likely should), then they would be well away of Xio's men in movement and their attack would be far less of an ambush than previously assumed. That being said, the it most likely wouldn't have mattered thanks to Xio's ability to use King's haki. Though Xio was arguably weaker than him, he was learning a great deal from this chance encounter. Just as he began to feel himself breathing heavily from running, it seemed as though they had in fact arrived. Xio tipped up the side of the rocky formation that was most likely the cove and Djazz followed suit; thoughtfully bounding up the side to the roof with patient steps as to make as little noise as possible, when he arrived he eye'd Commander Xio for a moment, "Guess we are here huh?" he said, putting his hands on his hips to rest for a moment. Djazz took a few moments to glance around him. To be honest, this was a pretty impressive natural land mass. While he could easily make a mess of this place if he was in a hurry to chop it into pieces, he would much rather do his best to preserve what was already here. Luckily, given the time to survey the rock properly, he could make a precise and accurate cut that would minimize structural damage. Retrieving his blade, Djazz began to walk about the roof slowly. Every few steps he would tap the end of this blade on the ground a few times then repeat. It seemed much like the wandering of a blind man with a walking stick, however, in reality, Djazz was amassing important data. With each small firm tap, he got a better feel for the density, thickness and make up of the material under him. As he surveyed more of the land, the feedback also gave him information as to the natural contour of the segment of earth formation under him. As a few peaceful moments passed, Djazz finally looked up and smiled, "Think I've got it figured out..." he said quietly, wasting no time into jumping into action. Literally. Djazz took a step, leaping several stories into the air as to give him a few dozen feet to land back to the terra firm underneath him. Gripping his single handed blade with two hands, he performed a single elongated broad sword slash, as though a horizontal cut with a small 'loop' while falling. The result was a powerful shockwave that resembled the shape; borrowing through the earth under. It cut a neat cylinder like shape into the earth and as Djazz landed on it, the earth under him receded as the column under him fell into the hollow space. Djazz allowed himself to descend with the column of earth into the cove under the assumption that Xio would follow suit and take point on the masses of criminals... but what was he really getting himself into?
