The wind blew through kazuki’s hair as he stood atop the stern of their ship, a lot had happened since last they’d been contracted by the navy to work together in solving the issues on gesso island. Unfortunately for them it was not a task only their squad was given and they were beaten to the punch, but not before forming an alliance with some very capable people. It was a little less lonely travelling with this larger group but the responsibility on Kazuki to keep his people save had been multiplied exponentially. He couldn’t afford to drop the ball any more or else the consequences could be disastrous, he had lost too many on his way here already he couldn’t afford to concede more.

Fortunately this particular mission was one a lot closer to home, not all too long ago they had allowed the passage of a large group of pirates from the blues into the GL, both he and robin proving unable to stop it. It was a failing that wore heavy on his heart, and with every report of some new act by one of those listed names the weght of his guilt grew a little heavier. But this was the first step in rectifying his transgressions, they were on the trail of one such individual. Abel “Lanista” Crows, a man known for his sporadic founding of arena’s wherever he went, the list of his crimes was numerous and extensive, but at it’s core was a tendency to set up shop on certain islands and form a gladiatorial arena in which he would pit kidnap victims against one another to fight for their lives. Obviously he invited notorious names from the underworld to watch, bet and even in a few instances partake. He’d had games across the blues and was now expanding his operation into the Grand Line and their intel said his next home would be little garden, the prehistoric island.

It made sense really, his MO was to use isolated islands with little in the way of a native populace to keep unwanted eyes from prying. But if it was that particular island, from what he had heard about it there would be more threats present than simply a band of notorious pirates. The island itself was just as dangerous, filled with beasts from times past of scale that made humans look like children in their presence. There was a part of him that was endlessly excited for the prospect of seeing, dare he say it?....Dinosaurs. But an equally large part of him held nothing but apprehension for the idea of dumping themselves in the midst of such a dangerous place. They were just asking for trouble.

But dump he would, because that was his job as a defender of justice, and in this instance in particular he really did need to clean up his own mess. The sight of the island breaking on the horizon lifted his spirits some, it was here, his first shot at redemption, as long as he didn’t screw it up. He couldn’t, he wouldn’t!! Resolution building ever firmer as they neared. Even the sight of a swarm of reptilian bird looking things circling over the islands top was not enough to denounce his enthusiasm.

Robin had been busy preparing paperwork for what felt like now the entire day so far although it'd only been an hour if even that. Kazuki had before asked him to provide all the information on one of the pirate army captains that had recently crossed into the grandline to join some mysterious and powerful person. This was a black mark on their record and it felt good to at least do something to remove that mark though it honestly would have been better for it to never have existed. Who knew how much carnage and destruction they'd caused due to their failure to stop them the first time? Shoving all the papers messily into a beige folder with a hard paperlike texture he rushed out to the stern where Kazuki was already waiting. "Sir here's the paperwork you requested" holding the folder out to his commanding officer he awaited the man to take it.

The thankfully wearing his cowboy hat as the sun would have made looking outward quite painful, observed the island they had landed on. This was supposedly the island that Abel had last been thought spotted heading toward and disappearances of marines led credibility to the report. If he really was here then this was not just a simple mission of capturing a pirate but was also going to likely be a hostage freeing situation as well with the hostages being marines. Throw some hungry dinosaurs native to the island into the mix and you have the worst party ever. "So what i've gathered, to spare you the reading, is that this Abel "Lanista" Crows, is a madman who appeared on our radar only about 2 years ago. Since then his fame or infamy rather has grown considerably. He was originally just a nameless guy in their crew called the stormraiders, the name later changed to The Crows, but after a brief scuffle from a disagreement in the crew Abel became the leader when he hadn't even intended to. He had defeated everyone despite having had no sense of power to him before that. This is something easily found out as its the origin story everyone knew from local taverns back in the blues. After that their crew actually managed to become famous as before then they were barely a blip on the radar only being worth 10 million total which is only notable in the east blues."

A loud roar from some beast below shook the air around them. Strangely the creature sounded as if it was in pain. There must have been some savage fight going on between two dinosaurs and it was the loser. "He took the crew in a new direction that hadn't been seen before or since. He would take citizens and even kidnap the bounty hunters and marines sent at him then place them in death pit arenas where they would fight to survive. Inevitably none ever survived for long and this part is only known due to pirates talking about it as its a great sport for them to gamble on. We started sending more and more marines to apprehend this threat but still every group we sent disappeared without a trace. Unfortunately we have no idea what sort of power he possesses or much information on his other crew members. The only thing we have to go on is that Abel Crows has a great power that somehow crushes those who oppose him without even needing to lift a finger. His bounty now for this reason is extremely high compared to all those we faced in the past."

Sergei stood at the front of his ship and watched the approaching island. After some further questioning of the pirate that he had captured on Boin, it was revealed that McTugBoat would be passing by Little Garden on his way to Labourado, something about meeting up with a friend. Seeing as how the Marine would much rather capture the escaped pirate before the latter reached his final destination, it was decided that they would make their way to Little Garden posthaste. And with the sudden disappearance of his uncle's lackey, there was no need in keeping him up to date. He would probably receive a call sooner or later, demanding to know his whereabouts but the inventor hoped that he would be able to present his uncle with something that would take the heat off and perhaps take away the requirement for him to have a lackey in the future. But until then, everything had to be on the down low and he could not expect any reinforcements, not that he desired any in the first place. McTugBoat was his target and he wanted to personally bring him down.

Unfortunately, without reinforcements, it meant that they could not simply go in guns blazing to capture their target. They would have to be stealthy. Because of that the doctor was glad that the ship did not bare any markings that would identify it as a Marine ship and that his crew also did not wear any Marine uniforms. They were certainly onboard but hidden away securely. After all, there was no reason for pirate to suspect that this was a Marine ship crewed by Marines. Of course they certainly had a way of identifying themselves to other Marines in the form of an ID card, each person hiding it somewhere on their person so unless the pirates wanted to do a strip search, everything would go alright. At least that was what the marksman was hoping for. Returning his attention to the island, Sergei managed to barely spot a larger than normal looking bird, one that looked different in other ways than size. There was no doubt that this strange looking bird would not be the only strange thing he would see on the island.

The Marine did not really know much about the island and nor did any of his crewmates. The only and probably the most important thing they knew, aside from how to get there and how to leave, was that it was populated with strange and exotic creatures. While the doctor was somewhat skeptical of that fact, the things that he had seen of the course of his travels suggested that these creatures might actually exist. They were probably exaggerated tales but there was always a grain of truth. It was just a matter of determining just how big that grain was. Hopefully not too big for the inventor really did not want to deal with the creatures in addition to the pirates. It was about that time that the marksman spotted another ship in the water, though to call it a ship would be an overstatement seeing as how it looked barely seaworthy. However, even if the ship was dingy, that did not meant that the people on it could not simply sinking his own ship with some crazy powers. Motioning for some of his crew to man the cannons, the scarred man kept an eye on the other ship as his own neared the island.

As they neared the island ahead robin appeared to give a run down on the intel they had received on their newest target from HQ. Which was fortunate because kazuki had spent so much time secluding himself in training he’d barely seen sunlight or slept let alone read through those thick binders and files sent to them. He was weak, too weak, his performance on reverse mountain had been pathetic and there was no ignoring that. That wasn’t going to change either, he would keep losing men, keep letting pirates escape unless he found something inside himself he hadn’t thus far, something that let him go above and beyond, because as it was he just wasn’t freaking good enough. It hurt, burned even, but it was exactly that frustration that would push him to strive for more. But alas that was very much off the current tangent.

He gave a low whistle after digesting the slew of information sent his way in a very real sense for all they knew about the man they knew nothing. They knew not the real reason he had shot to fame, what his power consisted of, how it was he was able to make so many follow him with naught but a 10 million bounty. They were going in very much blind, which was perhaps the worst way to perform such an operation. He didn’t like the idea of taking the men with them and yet he couldn’t very well go through his career prioritizing their safety over the mission, there was a fine line between baring the burden of responsibility and acting in fear of it. He wouldn’t allow consequences to escalate just because he was worried about a guilty conscience. ”Sounds like a real scary guy, when you say it out loud im not even sure I want to go any more” kazuki rubbing his head awkwardly as he maid the admission of fear, from the sounds of thing this guy had a penchant for capturing those who came after him and pitting them against one another, and not only that but he was good for it. For kazuki there was nothing that terrified him more than being turned against his own men, to cause them harm by his own hand would be unforgivable.

But there was no use worrying about that sort of thing before hand, it’d only serve to leave him with butterflies in his stomach, though it wasn’t as though he didn’t have them everywhere else anyway. He’d never been much good with nerves but he had at least learned to seal them away and ignore them, he couldn’t after all let them get the better of him, not when he was charged with acting as leader, fear from the top would trickle all the way down through the ranks.

The small ship jolted as it came to a grinding halt against the sandy shores, their destination reached, in the low tides. It was crunch time, the make or break moment, here was where their task began, as foreboding a thought as that was. Again the fierce cawing of an animal in the distance reminded him that abel was not he only danger they faced this day, even if he was the most clear and present. Giving his cheeks a harsh slap he grounded himself in the present, focused on the task at hand ”Right, lets go find us a pirate” The men knew their positions, the majority would stay here while a small squad of 10 would accompany him and robin, he wasn’t much good at leading them into dangerous situations and very few of them were much accomplished at handling them, if anything it only served to give him more to worry about bringing them along, but if it looked as though he had no trust in them, it would be impossible for them to serve under him, not to mention they’d have no opportunity for growth, gahhhh soo many things to consider.

Hopping down from the deck he felt the crunch of sand beneath his boot, while the sea lapped at his feet taking in a deep inhale of salt crusted sea air, before trudging the shoreline to the beach itself. The island looked wild and over run, there was nothing to suggest civilization as well there shouldn’t be, it was deemed for the most part too dangerous for people to establish a colony which was obviously exactly what you wanted in a place you were about to make your home for the next 24 hours at least. ”Keep sharp, the wildlife here is just as dangerous as any pirate, if you can avoid before engaging, the last thing we need is to end up in a war of attrition against the island itself.” an obedient nod was all he got in response though it was hard to tell how much stock you could put in it. It was all well and good giving an order, but when you had 500 kg of scale clad dinosaur flesh charging at you the command of a superiod could easily end up being the last thing on your mind. ”Let’s move out” making his way towards the edge of thick flora for the beaten path through it, no idea what to expect from here on in.

Robin snickered as Kazuki admitted this guy was kinda scary and that he'd rather not have to deal this. And Robin had to agree, he felt like he was going in partly blind to a trap as it seemed catching marines and others was a specialty of his. No doubt many more like him and Robin had thought they would be successful before being forced into death matches themselves. Someone had to do it though so as long as they stayed on guard and watched over one another they could minimize the risks.

Hopping down onto the sand in sync with Kazuki Robin landed right beside him, the two making a striking pair as more of their men followed them. "Heh you think the wildlife will be that much trouble when we have butterflies on our side? Nothing beats butterflies. Maybe we can take one of these dinosaurs, native to the island with us. Riding into battle on a t-rex or triceratops would definitely make this trip worth it you have to agree." Even as he said it his eyes began to greedily search the forest that they made their way through, hoping to spot a dinosaur cool enough to take with them. Of course the technicalities of how to domesticate and train such a creature to be a faithful mount was a technicality he hadn't quite figured out yet.

As they made it deeper in however it seemed the dinosaurs were more brazen, actually staying out in the open as they passed rather than fleeing before they could be seen like the others had as they had only been noticable by the sounds of their footsteps. Up ahead there were no less than 10 large dinosaurs with large plates on their backs and spiked tails. He'd seen enough dinosaur books to instantly recognize the creature as a breed of stegosaurus. "Huh. Theres a whole herd of stegosaurus here. Too bad we can't catch them all." As he said it though the ground began to tremble as something large was coming at them directly ahead, and coming in fast. trees began to fall over as whatever it was came closer and the stegosaurus all began to run away in a stampede toward the marines, fleeing from was now clearly a tyranosaurus rex crashing through the forest, roaring as loud as it could as it hunted the stegosaurus and now the marines as well.

As his ship neared the island, it became quite clear to Sergei that unlike the shoddy boat that he had seen, his own ship would be unable to get that near to the beach. Keeping an eye on the men who got off the boat and made their way into the jungle, the Marine ordered his own crew to lower the rowboat, taking only enough men to quickly row to the island, keeping the majority back on the the ship. Given their strength, the marksman doubted that they would be of any help on this island so he prefered keeping them as far from danger as possible to minimize the losses. After all, the doctor did not know much about sailing a ship and he was not sure that even if he did he would be able to all by himself. It did not take long for the rowboat to reach the sand, the latter crunching underneath the former as the two crew members got out and dragged it further up the beach. Stepping out of the boat, the inventor felt his feet sink slightly into the sand, a somewhat unpleasant sensation, one that he was eager to get rid of. Giving the order for the two members to take off back to the ship at the first sign of danger, he followed the two men from the other boat into the jungle.

Having just left a jungle, Sergei was not exactly too happy about finding himself in another one. And unlike the last jungle, this one had way more ways to kill someone. Case in point, the giant monsters that roamed the jungle, ones that the Marine had not believe in, were alive and real, going about their business as he passed them by as he followed the two men from the boat, trying to stay out of sight until he figured out if they were a threat or not. While they certainly were not going around destroying everything left and right, that did not mean that they were not vicious psychopaths that would kill anyone who they did not know. Fortunately, he was not wearing anything, aside from his necklace hidden beneath his shirt, that would indicate that he was a Marine, so that was one thing that he did not have to worry about. Unfortunately, it did not take long for something to appear that he had to worry about, in the form of another stampede, this one filled with larger animals than before, in addition to an animal that was the hunter. Fortunately, the doctor had an easy way of avoiding such things. Activating his powers, he turned into a puddle of tar right where he stood. Hopefully these creatures didn't have seastone claws or something like that.

At the question kazuki was forced to take pause and once more consider the impending threat of the native wild life, it was not a comforting thought, being chasted by 30 ft lizards that were happy to swallow you whole did not gel particularly well with the task of hunting down wanted criminals. But cest la vie, his life had not been an easy one from day 1 as a member of the marines, it’d be ludicrous to think it might change now. ”I was kinda hoping we’d avoid them, but then again I spose they can’t be much worse than that nutball candybeard…..or at least I hope not. But not to worry, I hear you’re pretty good at weasling yourself out of trouble these days anyway” Robin never one to miss an opportunity to poke fun at the absurd nature of his devil fruit. But yeeesh, that was a chilling thought, big guy alone had wielding some pretty monstrous strength, coupled with a hide that just wouldn’t be pierced, the idea of that scaled up to dinosaur size, now there was something truly terrifying. As much as the idea of taming dinosaurs might have appealed to his inner boy kazuki’s mind first went to the practical side of the task, the entanglement with a large beast, the then trying to convince that large beast to do as it was told and not attack them. Overall it just sounded messy and a recipie for trouble, personally he would have rathered avoid the task altogether in favour of something easier, like ice cream. But there seemed little point being the Debbie downer of the group so he held his tongue.

Sword in hand kazuki swung it like a machete, cleaving stray vines and overgrowth from his path. That was really all it was good for these days anyway, he’d been trained in martial arts and it was where his forte lie, the kusanagi blade was little more than a relic handed off as a leaving gift before he’d set off on his travels. The further they went in the more relentless the foliage became, it was clear this was natures domain, birds cawed in the distance, insects buzzed around them, and even the grasses made their way to chest height. They were very much ousiders invading the domain of another. Taking pause he spoted the gathering of towering beasts ahead, they were even more than he could have imagined, their sheer size and mass, he felt as though he could be trampled just by catching their gaze. No doubt if they charged as one it would cause them more than a few problesm. This place was honestly ridiculous.

”I don’t think so, I mean I’m not suggesting it’d be a great idea to go and try wrestling dinosaurs into submission. But if were were going to do it, I think I’d want it to be raptors, fast, agile, vicious. They’re pretty amazing.” his choice didn’t at all align with his personality, and honestly even to him it didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but for some reason as a child he had always been drawn to them, the ultimate predator. And despite his possibly cowardly, lackadaisical nature perhaps somewhere in the back of his mind now he compared that a little with himself, though rather than other beasts his prey consisted of wanted criminals. But if he could hunt them with the slick efficiency they displayed, he’d be more than effective.

But alas their adventure couldn’t simply consist of shooting the breeze and exploring a little grassland forever, noooo, that’d be too easy right? Couldn’t have their mission simply being straight forward or going to plan, that’d just be ridiculous. So in the usual fashion things went awry, very much awry, in fact it wouldn’t be short to say they very quickly became entirely fucked up. Tremors shook the ground and the sound of splintering wood preceeded and earth shaking crash as something fell with a thunderous impact. Though as surprisingly intense as these sounds may have been they were nothing for what came next, a horrendous roar as several hundred kilograms of meat came smashing through the treeline, bloodlust in it’s feral eyes as tiny forearms wiggled about thrashing in savage hunger.

”Eh?....AH?!?!” the marine given only seconds to consider and choose his course of action as it rampaged toward them, fight or flight reeling through his head. While had it just been him he might have run with his men at his back he couldn’t very well get them into a chase for their lives if he could avoid it since it could very well end in them getting lost or worse. Shit, shit, shit, fuck, GODDAMMIT! He’d been here less than an hour and he was aready about to go head to head with a dinosaur, at this rate he wasn’t even going to survive the night. This was why he preffered things like cloud watching, when was the last time you heard about someone who got eaten while cloud watching? Clouds didn’t have ridiculously vicious teeth that coult rip flesh from bone without a second thought.

Charging in he met the beast head on gritting his teeth and digging in his heels and grounding himself as he caught the head that lashed downward to snap half his body away in a single bite. Veins pulsed in his head at the effort expeneded to hold the creature at bay, before on one swift movement he pivoted at the hip and heaved over his shoulder, carrying the giant lizard through with him and throwing it over and onto it’s back where it landed with tremor inducing force as the breath rushed from it’s lungs.

Robin was surprised to say the least when such a giant prehistoric lizard burst out, giving chase to them as they started to run. Still he hadn't completely expected Kazuki's reaction. It was funny since he'd met up with the marine he'd constantly been surprised by the guy, he was unlike all the stories he'd heard about him. In the stories he was a fierce and powerful fighter who didn't afraid of anything. In reality Kazuki was about as normal a guy as you could get, he was even scared of dinosaurs which was a fairly normal reaction given that Robin too was running away. Robin just knew he wasn't much of a heavy hitter so fighting a creature like that on his own probably would have been a bad idea which was why if Kazuki was running then following seemed like a good idea. The shrill, girly, screaming was a bit unnecessary though.

It seemed Kazuki had changed his mind fairly quickly however and turned around to attack the giant reptile. Kazuki had demonstrated a great feat of strength in that moment that Robin had not yet seen the man perform as of yet. With all his strength he stopped the tyranosaurus dead in it's tracks and threw it over his shoulder where it crashed hard to the ground on it's back. Seeing his opportunity Robin transformed into his zoan as he'd finally somewhat figured out how to use it while they were traveling here. He wasn't very skilled with it yet, especially the weirder powers but he at least had gotten the basics down. His body became short and lithe as he shrunk down into a small ferret looking creature but with sickles instead of forelegs.

Quickly crawling up onto the downed beast's belly he scurried along, accidentally scratching it as he ran down the length of it toward the tail, as he reached between it's legs however Robin swung his bladed paw and sliced off some dangly bits that blocked him. Suddnely a wimper of pain emerged from the T-rex as it shut it's legs tightly, knocking Robin off from it, before letting out a loud blast of agony that seemed to shake the whole island. Robin was fairly certain now that the creature would not be up to any more attempts to hunt them after that beating and transformed back into his human form.

Sergei could feel as the large creatures crossed his puddle of tar. Well, crossing would be an exaggeration since the ones in front quickly were stuck in the puddle while the ones after them barreled into the ones in front, creating a tangled mass of flailing and broken limbs. Seeing as how a huge mass of animals was surely to draw unwanted attention, there was nothing else for the Marine to do but to reveal himself, as much as he did not want to do so. Moving his puddle body from under the creatures, who had begun trying to untangle themselves, the inventor reformed real body, the tar drawing together as it extended into the air to form first the humanoid shape and finally into the proper body. It always felt a bit weird changing form. Not that it was painful or anything, just weird. The doctor certainly could not put his finger on it since it felt natural to turn his body into tar and back. But even natural things could feel weird at times. Either way, this was not the time to contemplate just what he had become. That was for later. For now, he had to show these two men that he was no threat to them.

Nearing the area where he last saw them, the marksman was surprised to find that the two men were not alone but instead had a small group of Marines with them, to say nothing of the howling giant monster a little ways away. So did this mean that these men were Marines as well? But even if they were, that did not mean that they were not corrupt and actually working with pirates. As such, he would have to be careful since he was not entirely sure who he could trust. So the question was whether or not he should reveal that he was a Marine as well. While keeping his identity a secret may solve some problems, it would also create new ones since he doubted that the others would trust some random guy in the jungle. It would probably be better to play it by ear. For now, he would have to refrain from showing his uncle's orders. Unfortunately, the only other identifying piece he had was the necklace and it was doubtful that it would be enough. Hopefully it would be. Nearing the duo, one shorter and younger than the others, Sergei took out his notepad and marker. "Ensign Volk, reporting for duty." he wrote before saluting. While he wanted to keep his identity secret for as long as he could, if he needed to use his orders, it would be better not to lie about his name.

Kazuki blinked a couple times at the sight of the huge mass of meat sent crashing into the ground, taking pause the registed the picture before him. He hadn’t intended to do it, his body had acted on instinct, reflexively putting into action the moves he had hammered into his muscle memory. But now that he saw it, with something of that scale he almost couldn’t believe it, he wasn’t even sure he could really be called responsible, it seemed too far fetched. ”Whoa, what a monster that guy was” “Aren’t you the real monster here?!?!” his men managed to chime the same thought aloud in unison, shock evident in their expression, but with a jovial chuckle he shrugged off the suggestion ”No no nothing like that, he just tripped, I got lucky” “As if anyone would believe that!!!” once more they seemed exasperated at his actions, though it wasn’t for the first time, yet they never seemed to quite manage to get used to it.

With their first challenge in the jungle conquered spirits were a little higher and tensions a little lower, lowered perhaps a little too much. Kazuki’s face creased in a mixture of empathetic pain and disgust as he witnessed what could only be described as a prehistoric sex crime. Robin approached the unconscious reptile and….well…..he cut off it’s dick. There really was no reaonsable way to phrase it, he just up and castrated a defenseless animal. Suddenly his declaration that he wanted to leave this place with a dinosaur in his possession was put into a whole new light and kazuki didn’t think he could I good conscience leave any animal alone with the man. What?...just what!?! Was he going to eat it? Was it some sort of foreign delicacy? Did robin literally eat dicks? He was rapidly beginning to realize he had severely misjudged the guy or perhaps had simply not been paying enough attention, and could only be greatful the creature was at least not conscious enough to be suffering currently. For moment he even considered putting it out of it’s misery entirely.

The momentary reprieve from pain expired rapidly though as the agony managed to sink through to even an unconscious mind and a sound that should never be heard erupted from the overgrown lizard’s mouth. It was sorrowful in a way only a male could relate to. ”But why did you…….i don’t understand.” entirely at a loss to quantify the act of cruelty. And in a moment of mercy he slammed a fist into the writhing animals head to knock it out cold once more. Perhaps it was better he couldn’t comprehend that actions, he likely wouldn’t want to poison himself with the kind of thinking that leads to to start up a collection of dinosaur dicks.

He likely would have had to dwell longer on the disturbing spectacle had the sound of falling flesh and surprised squels not turned his attention to the rear, where he saw a crowd of dinosaurs falling over one another coated in a sticky black substance. He would have paid almost any sum not to be forced into thinking about sticky liquid substances at that moment but unfortunately fate did not smile upon his so kindly. From the thick sludgy pool arose a shape, a shape that very quickly became humanoid in shape before solidifying entirely. It was a person…a human person…an approaching human person. It turned out this particular chap was not exactl of the talkative brand, in fact it appeared for all intents and purposes he was mute, or else had taken an incredibly strict vow of silence. Producing a board upon which he wrote he introduced himself as a marine, perhaps one sent to back them up in their efforts though kazuki had been told of no such individual. ”Pleasure to meet you, im captain Kazuki Gendo. And this is the underdog squad, could I ask what you’re doing here?” it was rather suspicious that they’d both arrive at the same time and seemed a little too unlikely for coincidence, but that they would send two units after crows, was this just a testament to how dangerous he really was?

"I wasn't thinking that far ahead! It just seemed like a good idea to make it never attack us! Didn't they teach you to attack the critical parts of the body in marine boot camp?" He yelled, out completely taken back by both his own horrible actions and the accusations of Kazuki. "Do you seriously think out these things in a fight?" It was amazing to him that someone actually could think perfectly clear in a fight rather than let instincts take over for the most part. Of course he was mostly feeling guilty now, seeing as how he was a male as well he understood Kazuki's aversion and even felt a phantom pain himself. Luckily Kazuki struck the creature in the head, knocking it out from it's pain. Perhaps it wanted to be born a girl anyway, he told himself in his head to help ease the guilt, after the pain went away he'd then be an even happier extinct lizard.

While arguing with Kazuki however he noticed the man was distracted. It was astonishing that he could be distracted during all this but he was turned toward something else. Looking in the same vicinity he saw a large amount of dinosaurs had been trapped in some black tar like substance and a man was coming toward them. Strangely the man pulled out a pen and paper and wrote down a greeting. "Can't he talk?" Robin asked out loud, unsure why the man would bother writing that down rather than saying it. Perhaps the man just had a really funny voice and didn't want to be laughed at, not that either of them would try to hurt the man's feelings intentionally. What was strange though was that he hadn't heard about any more marines showing up here to assist. "Did you know about this Kazuki? I didn't know we were expecting backup." Holding out his hand he extended his open palm toward the ensign."Pleasure to meet you. I'm commander, Robin. What do you know about the situation?"

Sergei watched as one of the Marines, the one that looked more mature, delivered a stunning blow to the giant lizard's head to silence it before replying followed closely by the other kid Marine. It wasn't like the marksman could hear the giant creature, being deaf and all, but he could certainly feel the vibrations of the roar through the air as well as see it be in pain. In any case, the silence was rather welcome since the vibrations were rather disconcerting. As for the Marines, he did not recognize the names thought that was to be expected since he did not particularly care about knowing the names of others aside from those that he grew up with and who he was in the division in. Furthermore, it appeared that these two were much higher ranked than he was, Captain and Commander to his Ensign. Fortunately for his psyche, he cared little for rank, doing what needed to be done regardless of orders, even if it meant going against them. The one reason why the doctor cared for ranks was that higher ranks had access to more things and places, ones that a mere Ensign could never hope to access.

"I was sent here by my commanding officer to assist you with your orders." Sergei wrote down on his pad before showing it to the two others and shaking Robin's hand. "As for the situation, my commanding officer did not really get into too much detail. I was hoping that you would fill me in on the situation." the Marine continued, keeping his replied vague but somewhat true. He was sent here by Volk, in a way, to capture McTugBoat, in a way, nor did he know the situation here. Hopefully the others would take his explanation at face value and explain themselves. Hopefully he would not need to get his orders out. And even if he did, he was not sure if these two would know who Volk was. There must be dozens of Commodores. Either way, there was no going back now, not that he would if he could. These two looked to be far too valuable to ignore. Perhaps he could use them to help him capture McTugBoat, or at the very least keep the heat off of him while he did the capturing himself.

Oddly it seemed as though robin was as at a loss for words towards his actions as kazuki was. Which actually didn’t bode particularly well at all, the last thing he needed to be doing was walking into enemy territory with an unstable partner, was this some sort of side effect from his devil fruit? A new masochistic streak, he’d never thought him to be the unnecessarily violent type but then again this was what, their second mission together? The temptation to point out most people didn’t have to think very hard to not detach a penis in the high tension situation that was assaulting an unconscious animal, as heat of the moment as that was. But honestly he decided he’d rather just not talk about it any more, because he was rapidly growing increasingly nauseous.

With all the subtlety and grace of a paraplegic ballerina robin queried aloud whether or not the new arrival was mute, though whether it was an inability to talk or a decision no to he was clearly pretty committed to it given he walked around carrying a note pad. ”I knew nothing about it, but no matter, it’s good to have you with us. Robin will awnser any questions you have about the task.” he cast a furtive glance the cowboy’s way, momentarily sharing his suspicion of the situation. It just didn’t make sense, they had been given assistance without being notified, and their assistance knew nothing of why they were there, in what possible world was that helpful? But regardless there was no denying he had the credentials of a marine so whatever was going on that at least was the truth. And that being so it was enough for kazuki to decide to at least trust him on a trial basis, much as he didn’t like walking in with an unknown quantity along side them, he didn’t have the grounds to detain not the time to spend interrogating, so for now he would simply have to settle for observing.

Hacking down undergrowth he ventured deeper into the wilderness, this place brought new meaning to the word over grown and it wasn’t even as though they had a map or anything to go off when it came to crows location. For now it was just a matter of getting deeper into the island and doing so without attracting too much attention.

Robin shook the man's hand while he explained everything. It still didn't make full sense to him but he was willing to go with it for now. Still though after that one incident with the marine traitor he wasn't ready to trust the man just yet. The situation was odd to him as it didn't make much sense that they wouldn't be informed of another marine officer coming to assist them. It was very possibly a clerical error however like the one they had made with his devil fruit, but assuming such a thing could prove to be bad later on so being on guard for now was the best option.

He worried though that Kazuki may have trusted him immediately however since he knew Kazuki was like the nicest guy ever really. "Alright." Robin went on, taking in a deep breath, ready to explain the short version of what was going on as the version he had told Kazuki was way too much of a mouthful and he wanted to get on with this pirate hunting business already. "So we are hunting a pirate who was set to meet up with a yonkou of unknown identity. His name is Abel 'Lanista' Crows and he is highly dangerous and known for capturing marines and bounty hunters then forcing them to fight each other to the death for the entertainment of a crowd who gamble on the outcomes. Many attempts have been made to capture him in the past but they have all failed. I've been considering our options and due to this reason we should remain as stealthy as possible and treat this as a black ops mission. odds are he will be expecting people to capture him and has set up measures to reverse that situation on them. This is my theory on how he has gotten this far. So from here on out we should probably move much more slowly and quietly. Meaning we can't be playing with dinosaurs. I'll see about sneaking into their territory if i'm able to and hopefully I should be able to surprise them which should give you guys and opportunity to ambush once they're in confusion."

Turning around he stood side by side with Kazuki as they began to march ahead taking out a pen from inside his jacket he quickly scribbled down a message on his hand. One which he hoped Kazuki and only Kazuki would understand. "Another Tomb? Stay on Guard." Was the simple yet elegant coded message that he believed would get the point across. Looking toward Kazuki meaningfully he turned back to look at the new guy, unable to resist trying to see if he could spot any signs of him being a tratior who would hand them over to Abel. It would make sense if that was how Abel had managed to capture all those marines and bounty hunters before and it was a theory that he had never considered. Bribe a few of a group and lead them intro a trap or betray them more directly instead. It was for this reason he was hesitant about showing off his devil fruit ability or plan too much and was thinking of sneaking off into the woods alone shortly to turn invisible before hunting for the base.

So it seemed that they believed his story, if only enough to let him know the situation here. Speaking of the situation, it seemed that they were hunting some sort of pirate that had escaped justice up till now through unknown means. And something about fighting to the death. While he was not entirely sure what was going on, the Marine did agree with the decision to go stealth, which made him shelve the idea of blowing up the giant lizard so that it would not come after them. After all, even if the noise did not bother him too much, that did not mean that it would not bother others nor that did not mean that it would not give away their position. But maybe that was something that these Marines actually wanted and were trying to lead him on? That was also a possibility. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on the view point, he would have much rather gone in with stealth instead of guns blazing. Then again, unless the enemy had seastone, there was nothing for him to worry about but it was more likely than not that the enemy would indeed have seastone. If the small pirate group on Boin had them, then this large group would definitely have them.

As he followed the group further into the forest, not entirely sure if they were leading him into a trap or not, the inventor considered whether or not he would help them with the capture of the pirate if indeed they were telling the truth. In the end he figured that he would as long as it did not interfere with the capture of McTugBoat. After all, that was why he was here and everything else was secondary. Granted that if he the chance to capture a Yonkou or another similarly dangerous pirate he would definitely make it his priority, but he had never heard of this Crows fellow. Then again, he must be fairly important if he was going to meet up with a Yonkou but that only mattered if the information these two gave him, and received themselves, was correct. Hell, they did not even know the name of the Yonkou and as far as he remember, Yonkou rarely left the New World so finding one here, meeting with some no name pirate was bordering on impossibility. Hell, if that was true, then there was no way in hell that the World Government would send only two officer to deal with him. They would have the entire Marine force here. As such, it was doubtful that this Crows was worth his time.
