Well, things were certainly not going according to plan, not that he had really expected it to be. After all, why would Mac be able to hold off all their enemies while the rest of them escaped. Even if the nearly dead man managed to let through most of the enemies, it appeared like he was keeping Argos occupied for now. Illya certainly was not eager to face the Phoenix user any time soon. Unfortunately, there was another plan that did not go according to plan, that plan being to stab the man who attacked Missy to death. No, that plan was ruined by the appearance of a white haired ferocious looking woman who looked for some reason vaguely familiar. Maybe it was just from seeing her on the monitors but the pirate could have sworn that he had seen her before. In any case, her presence here put a big dent in his plan to dip his spear in the blood of his opponents. As her hands enveloped the spear and held it fast, the inventor held on as well. Now, there were a couple of things he could do. He could either let go and allow his spear and seastone to remain in the possession of his opponents or he could get it back. It was not a tough decision. Unfortunately, there was yet another problem. As always. The doctor muttered curses under his breath, breathing rather heavily, his limbs starting to feel leadened, as the woman began attacking his shoulders with her hair legs, delivering pounding shockwaves onto his body. Fortunately, his own armour managed to mitigate a good bit of the damage, the unmitigated damage probably denting his body but he ignored any and all pain from the attack, effectively ignoring the attack altogether. Before he could retaliate, there was a fierce explosion of heat and smoke. Illya kept a firm grip on the spear as the heat enveloped him, his own powers preventing any damage, as the shockwave pushed him back a couple of feet. Hopefully the female would have let go on his spear during the explosion or maybe some time after getting attacked by the other female in Arcadia's party. Either way, he had other problems to deal with at the moment in the form of the flat man from before constructing a wooden barrier of some sort before rushing towards them, the barrier leading the way. Damn, these people would not give him a break at all. With a few choice mutters under his breath, Illya wrapped his hair around his own spear to keep a hand on it, in case the white haired female did not let go, before extending his only hand towards the incoming wooden structure before concentrating the heat in the palm of his hand and pushing it towards the structure in the form of a tunnel filling wall of heat that was capable of breaking through titanium and should have absolutely no problem breaking through meer wood. At the very least, if it could not destroy the wood, it would heat it up sufficiently to prevent whoever was pushing it from touching it, hopefully stopping it in its tracks. With that done, the pirate shifted his attention back to Missy and the rest of the group, noticing two things. The first thing that he had noticed was the appearance of the second CP9 agent beside Arcadia, holding a knife to her throat. The second was the sudden appearance of electrically looking gun-toting female that had her gun aimed at Missy. Was she the source of the electrical attack from before? If so, then his own beam did nothing. Combining that knowledge with her sudden appearance led the inventor to suspect that she might be a logia user. Just great. So now he had two choices. Attack the CP9 agent or attack the electric female. Seeing as how he cared about Arcadia's safety more so than Missy's, the doctor decided to deal with that first, unleashing another heat beam towards Henan's face. While the beam was weaker than the one he had sent a couple of moments ago, it was just as fast and, while only capable of melting through iron, should be enough to deal with the human body. Or at least get the agent away from Arcadia. With that done, the one armed man brought the spear close to his body, if Raine had let go of it, or took the seastone hairclip away from the spear, leaving the metal spear behind, before Soru'ing towards Eve and attempting to stab her with either the spear, with the seastone at the tip, or the seastone clip, both capable to harming a logia user. Hopefully he would get there in time to prevent Missy from being pumped full of lead. If not, oh well. |

The hunter’s bullets penetrated Mac’s skull successfully and repeatedly, to the point where everything was blown off to bit in his brain, but with every shot, Will could see clearly that the golden substance wasn’t slowing down in the least. It was even acting like some sort of living connection between the two biggest chunks of the regenerating brain, since Mac could talk and move. Besides, the regeneration was going so fast around there that his brain was going to form back together again sooner rather than later. For some reason, it was much faster than what was going on around his chest. The bird flew away from Mac instinctively as he started talking and kept hovering near Argos: "So he talks. I was afraid Arcadia had turned you into some zombie without rational thought. You were certainly acting like it, but I suppose we’re to blame for ganging up on you so suddenly earlier, necessities of the mission and all." Argos seemed more freaked out than William about this. Well, if he were to be honest, Will wasn’t freaked out at all. He knew in his gut that he hated whatever Arcadia did to Mac with a passion, on principle, but he had seen so much grosser thing in his life time as a doctor, especially in the operating room, that his analytic mind had kicked in pretty quickly and helped him not think about throwing up even once. It also helped that he had a devil fruit ability which was as gross as it could get. Argos had proved to have as tough a stomach as ever too, which was to be expected of a cypher pole agent, for much different reasons than a doctor. He even noticed the pattern of healing around the body, and mentioned that he’s seen something like it before, with some creepy mechanical dolls. William smirked so wide at that, he felt a little embarrassed for breaking his poker face. Mac had tried to disguise his reaction as simply being pissed off at people discussing his weaknesses, but it was something else. Argos was about to propose a strategy to take him down and he couldn’t have that. He was only here to delay them, and he wasn’t going to let them figure him out so soon, which made perfect sense, but the way Will saw it, if they weren’t going to communicate successfully, only one of them had to stay here, Argos can totally go forward. "Well, since you seem to know what you’re doing, and you’re satisfied with being Arcadia’s punch-double even in this inhuman state she put you in, then I can only respect your sacrifice as such and fight you properly… " Bertrand was going to propose that Argos go ahead, but Mac went to the offensive very quickly, so he focused his attention on him. And a good thing it was too because Mac had given him his next clue, before punching the shit out of him. Tow punches in quick succession. They both found their mark and they both hurt like hell. William had let himself be hit, to gauge the true strength of this particular opponent, when his body wasn’t occupied with healing and he didn’t have two or more people swarming around him and distracting his every movement. He regretted taking that decision in the spur of the moment. Maybe he should have at least dodged one, it’s not like this guy was too fast for him or anything. Will was still hovering in the air in his full bird form, so his strength wasn’t as great as it could be, but still, this hurt so much that he flinched away using his wings as quickly as he could. He transformed into his Hunter Form right then. He grew to a hulking three meters tall with a five meter wing span, and grew bird-talon like arms. He flicked his sword and gun from his feet to his hands, sheathed the gun and grabbed the sword with two hands. He landed on the ground. Will used the back of his hand to wipe the blood from his mouth. The feathers scratched too much with the beak and the whole thing proved comically ineffective, so he settled for spitting all the blood and phlegm in his mouth before speaking: "Let’s get to know each other indeed. I am William Bertrand Salty, an ex-noble from north blue. I am the captain of a merchant & bounty hunter crew called the Jacks of All Trades. You might have heard of the Don of Sicilie being taken out by such, unless you guys are too high up the criminal ladder to notice that guy. You’re very strong, and I wish it was possible for me to duel you under different circumstances. That would have been a fight to relish, but you’re a zombie now, so don’t expect a fair fight, just stand there like a good little terminal patient and look forward to The Doctor putting you out of your misery." There was no doctor-like mercy in Will’s eyes as he spat that last sentence. It was more a subtle show of confidence than a promise. All this talk served more purpose than Argos might have realized. It gave William time to process the information. If Mac’s body wasn’t producing this copious amount of golden liquid, then there was something else doing it, a parasite of sorts. The liquid itself was living, part of the parasite, but it must have its own ‘brain’ somewhere. This is where Argos’s bit of information completed the puzzle. Arcadia isn’t just a biological genius, she is more about mechanics than anything else, and if Argos also associated this with some mechanical dolls he’s seen before, then this would reduce the probability of error to a minimum. Mac without much doubt had a mechanical parasite inside his torso. Metal doesn’t heal after all, so the only explanation for the front of his torso not to be healing fast is that it is not entirely made of flesh, thus giving out the location of the mechanical part. An instant after he finished speaking, Mac would find William suddenly in front of him (soru), swinging his sword with both hands downward with the aim to open his torso wide with a big vertical slicing shockwave, the same one that he had used to attempt to behead him. he knew that one would be able to open a big enough cut for the following part. He quickly followed that up by freeing one of his hands and jabbing it inside the wound, before the shockwave even dissipated properly. His razor sharp claws facilitated the whole thing even more. He rummaged inside violently at his strongest until he found the hardest thing in there and attempted to wrench it free from its established bodily links, while still staying on the ready to use his sword to counter anything Mac came up with, or take the punishment if need be. As William performed his by far messiet and most rushed operation, he hoped that he had at least diagnosed this not-so-patient properly. Diagnosis was always the most important part, but in this case, he could only verify it by hurting Mac more. Techs Used

Things were going pretty well on one end. She had managed to stop Uncarayne from turning into a human skewer and was now keeping the bandaged pirate on hold for the time being. One the other hand though she could tell something had gone wrong as she would normally be able to tell when her hair fists had stricken an enemy or not and instead it seemed as if it had been stopped in its tracks. Glancing to the side the huntress was able to make out the unknown individual known as Rhythm, the girl having stepped on the limb before it could strike home and pinning it to the ground. "Tch." She clicked her teeth out of annoyance. She must have been pretty damn quick to stop a punch going at practically bullet speeds, although that bit of information did line up quite well with what she had been told by the others during their meeting. That didn't make her timely arrival any less annoying, but she supposed it was only fair considering that she had just done the same for the hammer toting marine. She had been prepared to go on the counter offensive once again but what the huntress did not anticipate was the Soru maneuver followed by a quick kick square in her back that sent her body towards the other side of the hall and forcing her to lose grip on the spear from a moment ago and let up on her attack on Illya. There were a few fortunate parts to this though, the first being her armor absorbing a bit of the shock from the surprise attack along with the fact that Rhythm had inadvertently knocked her away from the violent explosion that took place in that area hardly even a moment later. Slamming into the wall Raine quickly turned herself around to keep an eye on the battlefield but was immediately greeted with a wave of heat followed by smoke following the explosion. Nothing too serious, at least not anywhere near as bad as it would have been if she stayed where she had been before. Still, there was far too much going on even for her to keep track of especially when dealing with an opponent of her own. There was a spark of lightning suddenly moving into the area, Suhov moving into the smoke to join the fray, the sounds of hammers and nails. To be honest it all sounded like a jumbled mess of sounds and sights that didn't belong. Regardless, her eyes were much more focused on the sight of the green haired woman that was intent on stopping her from reaping the life of Arcadia. The woman's face twisted into a wicked scowl as she clenched her teeth and allowed the full extent of her bloodlust flow forth. She wasn't normally one to lose her cool in a battle but for the sake of this technique it would be necessary. Rhythm had made a pretty poor mistake in throwing a kick towards the woman's head of all places as she allowed the attack to come in as close as possible (even if it meant taking the attack dead in the face) before her hair took on malevolent form, an almost sinister aura radiating outward as a massive beast would spring forth and attempt to tear the woman's leg right from her body and possibly even more of Rhythm if possible. The fangs in the beast's mouth were the same that Raine wore in her hair and the same she had used to spike her fist before when attacking Missy. There was definitely more than enough vicious poison to go around when it came to the huntress and light footed dancer would be no exception right now. She was sure Rhythm was a powerful foe, but at the moment not the target and there was no time to lose so Raine was resorting to more risky measures to ensure that she got a hit in. All it would take was a scratch from Gomorroah's fangs to get the toxins into her body of course she was going the whole nine right about now with summoning satanic hair beasts and all. techs |

OOC Having chosen to strike out at William, Argos did not simply sit still. He reacted swiftly, delivering a powerful kick to Mac's chest that sent him skidding backwards. The boxer did not have enough time to protect himself, and he coughed up a bit of the gold substance flowing within him, but he simply brushed it off as if there were no problem. "Out of my misery, eh?" He grinned, poising himself to prepare for any upcoming assault. "You'll have to be careful this zombie doesn't mean the end of you, though, William Salty." Unfortunately, while he may have been prepared, reacting to the speed of a soru was no easy task. On instinct he brought up his arms to defend himself, coating them in haki to extra protection. However, William's sword sliced cleanly through, creating a deep gash straight down his chest as well as lopping off his forearms. With no arms, it wasn't exactly easy for him to then prevent the bird-man from having a good rummage inside his chest. But whatever William was looking for was not there. The only thing he took a hold of was one of his ribs, which Mac was understandably not happy about. "Gah... Off!" He wheezed, having difficulty breathing since his lungs were being handled rather roughly. With his arms not properly functional, he raised a leg to kick William away, all the while kicking himself back with the other leg in order to create some distance. Fortunately, the gold liquid was already sewing his forearms back on, and had held his rib to his body while it was being grabbed. "There's no device... it's purely some kind of drug circulating his body, then?" Argos commented, keeping a close eye on the situation. However, he refrained from attacking rashly while William was so close to his target. "A blood replacement? If so, it should run out eventually."
Missy neither had much she could do about the sudden threat she was faced with, her speed not doing much for her when a bayonet in her chest had already pinned her in place. It was not easy to follow tiny sparks travelling along the floor. "Bitch...!" In the split second she had, she had managed to draw another pistol to face Eve with. With barely any delay she had begun rapidly firing towards her aggressor, determined to empty her round even though her own body was stuck on the receiving end of the array of bullet's from the logia's rifle.
Rhythm, mid-kick, did not have much chance to register Raine's counter. Some kind of terrifying illusory beast had suddenly burst from her target, but it did not stop her. A mere illusion was no reason for her to pull her attack. However, her lack of proper perception had prevented her from recognising the deadlier parts of the hallucination. Her leg was caught in the jaws of the beast, and the poison immediately began to work on her body. The pain this brought on was immediately noticed, and in an instant she had darted away. The fangs had not dug deep, but it was enough. Fortunately, Henan was having an arguably better time. He may have had a centipede laser being aimed at him, but he was far from unaware of it. He had of course been aware of the dangers of breaking past the front line to attack Arcadia directly, and as such his thoughts after his attack had failed were only to move out of the way. Illya's attack towards Unca first had reminded him of the threat that man posed, and as such he swiftly ducked down to a crouch in order to evade the laser that would have otherwise blasted through his head. Then, his body underwent yet another change. It took but milliseconds, his skin becoming a vibrant green with a chitinous appearance. A pair of antenna sprouted from the top of his head, but most noticeably his legs lengthened by at least a foot. In his crouching position they were coiled, a spring that had not been released. When released, he shot forward towards Illya like a bullet, prepared to take a chunk out of the pirate with his knife as he approached at soru-like speeds. "Nom nom-chan!" In doing so, Henan's leap had also allowed him to avoid Arcadia, whose mysterious fluid metal shield had lashed out to try and bite the man with a snake head made of metal. But it had only ended up grasping at thin air, before returning back to her person.

He ran forward, shoulder to the wall and feet thundering along down the tunnel floor. Two walls in front of him, one wall to each side, and his hammer gripped in the same arm that was braced against the wood - it'd take something to stop him, all right! Right? Right! Behind him, Eve vanished into the metal floor, a blue crackling zip that travelled under and ahead of him - ha! He'd have to tease her about that later - and then suddenly - - it wasn't like a match touching paper. It was like paper falling onto a lit stove - - he heard the outer wall crackle and combust first, the heat warping it before consuming it in a blaze that he could see even around the edges of his other walls. The sight gave him only a split second, if that, of knowledge: hardly enough for anything more than to yelp and pull his hand back from the wall as it turned an ominous red-gold and burst into flame. In the moment between that and his reaction, he knew he had certainly not been fast or far enough to avoid it, the burning heat already penetrating the sleeves of his coat and stinging his skin - - then the heat-wave burst past the shredded pieces of wood onto him, and he threw both his arms up over his face with a cry. He threw himself back from the blazing inferno that his little collection of walls had been turned into, and stumbled and landed on his back on the floor with a loud, echoing thump. There was no time to stop and catch his breath, and there was more pain starting to gnaw at other parts of him. With a grunt and an effort, he pushed himself up and rolled to put out the flames on his coat and clothing before getting unsteadily back to his feet. His eyes were blurry with tears, his erstwhile wooden walls had been reduced to so much smoking ash, and the walls and roof and floor were still glowing softly with residual heat. They were glowing, in fact, all the way past him and back for a good distance along the tunnel, illuminating it with a red-tinted glare. His coat-sleeves basically didn't exist as anything more than ash-stained and blackened tatters hanging from his upper arms, and the skin was reddened, blisters already visible in the dull fire-light. He had no doubt much of the rest of him looked much the same, but he wasn't going to look right now. He would only regret it, he knew. He coughed hoarsely, his throat and nose stinging and burning, and he pulled his goggles up to rub the tears from his eyes - which he immediately regretted, because the heat and smoke assailed them too and his gloves were ash-stained, which just made things even worse. He left his goggles off, snapping them above his forehead as he blinked and stumbled his way backwards out of the smoke-filled tunnel. The smoke just wasn't going anywhere; there were no drafts in the tunnel and no vents to shunt it away - not the best tunnel in the world, but it was doing its job for Arcadia and gang. Which was not a good thing. He coughed again, and brought up his hammer, swinging it down. The first attempt did little to nothing, only shifting the smoke a little, but it got him a gulp of relatively-fresh air before the smoke poured back in to fill the temporary void. He filled his lungs with it gratefully, and his second swing produced much better results, punching entirely through the wall of smoke to temporarily reveal the scene beyond it. A one-armed man with a spear, battling Henan; Raine and Eve were there, too, still upright and focused on Rhythm and Missy respectively. The one-armed man must have been the one with the flame attack, thought Uncarayne, he didn't even look tired, and then Henan leapt away from Arcadia towards the spearman... A tiny little window, just a tiny little window of time where the spearman would be occupied with reacting to Henan's green glistening attack. No time to stop and worry, thought Uncarayne, he'd just have to hope William could do something about his wounds afterwards - and he crashed forwards as the smoke swirled back into place, taking a gulp of air and squeezing his eyes shut as he burst through it. Opening his eyes, he was almost on the spearman. He raised his hammer high, whirling it until its whine echoed off the walls and roof and set his teeth on edge before he brought it down - not on the spearman, no. On the spear. "Ham Slicer Big - EEE!!"

They all just needed to die. To go away and let the world be. Eve's brain was a whirring mess of adrenaline. There were torrents of the stuff pumping through her system and re-writing her thoughts to anything that would better match and justify the violence. Names started to fade and be replaced with one collective label of 'Arcadia', they were all oil-stained cogs in an evil machine chugging smoke into an otherwise pure white sky. It didn't matter who they were, what they believed or that the entire world as they knew was collapsing around their ears. For some, like Bobby, it was collapsing into a void of nothing. Another growl, lost on the wind of violence, left Eve's throat as she emptied her cartridge. Not quick enough, not quite enough. The girl had her own gun, pointed it at Eve's face and the bullets howled. Naturally Eve's legs and body started to move to try and shift out the way but nerves are only so fast. The first scratched along her cheek just below her eye, the seastone cold as arctic ice and just as sharp. The second stabbed through her right shoulder and left a blossom of red emerging from her Marine coat, but it ultimately saved her from the remaining four which zipped on by as she span away, screaming. The pain, at first a sudden cold burn, quickly erupted into a straight inferno then began to die down just as quickly into a blunt and thumping ache. Eve's fingers let go of the rifle, but before it hit the ground she swung put with her good arm, caught Missy by the face and slammed her head down onto the solid metal floor. A brief pulse of power lit the tunnel, then Eve loosened her grip from smoldering skin. Her body, mistakenly, thought the fight was done. Sparks still danced between the tips of her fingers and Missy's skin they were so close, when the spear silently impaled her just above the right hip. She made a small grunt, that was far more tamed than the hostile sounds she had been voicing the entire time. "Hah..." Eve breathed. Everything suddenly felt real again, for so long. The bullet was too brief, there and gone again before reality could set in. She was real. Pain, true pain that sobered one faster than any bucket of water and dulled battle madness until thoughts became tangible again. An eye twitched, her fingers gripped tightly at the shaft. A circle of crimson began to spread and stain her clothes. She looked up, met those tinted glasses. Hatred and loathing past between them, enough to let Eve regain the sound of her beating heart. Not dead yet. A high-pitched whistle started to tickle her ears from behind. The sound of hammers, the cavalry. Not dead yet! The world felt like treacle, but through it Eve grasped at the shaft of the spear, dragged herself forward off the cold shard of metal holding her powers back then disintegrated down into the floor. It was safety, a brief haven within which no-one could touch her, but from which Eve could still inflict punishment. The wounds still bit at her senses and gnawed at her concentration until that tiny little side of her begged for them to just stay in the walls, swim away deep into the metal of the complex. Hide in a series of cables far away from it all. But elsewhere still the screams of innocent men, women and children echoed from countless islands where Arcadia's weapons passed hands like toys, and Eve's rage re-condensced into the blistering white-hot symbol of justice. Not a single one of those pirates was going to leave Las Arcadas alive or outside Marine custody. From the floor emerged a pair of wisp-like hands that grasped at the bad man's feet. Suhov! her mind wailed. The name came back, and it repulsed her. There would be no saving this one either, even if he had a name. The hands glowed, then exploded with shock. Tech |

Things were very rapidly going from bad to worse. First he had missed the CP9 agent with his beam and then he had gotten to Missy to late to save her from being stabbed by the lightning logia user. Fortunately, it seemed that Missy had fired off some rounds, which hopefully were seastone, into the other female. Unfortunately, all but one seemed to miss their target as said target spun away in apparent pain, suggesting that the bullets were indeed seastone if they managed to find purchase inside a logia body, before slamming Missy into the floor and leaving her a smouldering ruin. Fortunately, his own spear was released by the white haired female from before, allowing him to use it to stab the offending logia user. Unfortunately, it did not look like it bothered her too much as she somehow found the strength to slide herself off the seastone spear and disappear into the floor below. Illya cursed himself for allowing her to get away that easily. Unfortunately, there was little he could do about it now. The pirate quickly realized that he had to move, lest he be hit by whatever attack the lighting female was surely to use. Furthermore, even without glancing back, the inventor was more than sure that Rhythm would not be able to stand up to the white haired female and however was behind that wooden structure, unless both were burned by his heat wall, though that was somewhat doubtful. Either way, there would most likely be coming one or two attacks at his back, whatever attack the logia female launched, and Henan coming directly at him? The doctor was a bit surprised to see the CP9 agent suddenly appear in front of him, wielding a wicked looking knife. Thinking quick on his feet, the martial artist managed to move his body just enough out of the way to avoid a full contact blow, the blade scraping along the armour, before Soru'ing in front of Arcadia, who was now all alone, seeing arms of electricity clutch at the space he just left. If anyone tried to hit him before he Soru'd, he was sure that his armour would be able to take a glancing hit and the heat his body produced would be enough to melt anything that touched him. Looking down the tunnel in front of him, Illya felt just a bit of dismay. It was just him and Arcadia left to face against every single person that has come down here. The little shits in the Shichibukai's employ had not managed to defeat a single fucking person. Not a fucking single one. Her standing there like a stump was also unbelievable. "You should look into getting stronger henchmen, these ones proved to be quite useless. This would also be a good time to deal with lightning logia user so your anti-DF grenade would be very useful here. Furthermore, get the fuck out of here and I'll try to hold them off." the pirate said to Arcadia quickly, venom in his voice. While he was not entirely pleased with the entire idea of staying back and allowing the Shichibukai to escape, meeting Izuru without her was an even worse idea. Taking a deep breath, the inventor once again concentrated the heat in the palm of his hand before pushing it towards the rest of the enemies, all conveniently lined up before him. The metal walls glowed as the heat wall, capable of melting titanium, rapidly advanced towards them, filling the entire hallway. There would be no escape. Techs

William’s plan was not successful. He had been confident that whatever was producing this stuff constantly would be in Mac’s torso, but nothing of the like presented itself. In the end, the doctor settled for dislodging a couple of the guy’s ribs to keep his body busy healing. He could see this was taking its toll on him. He used his wings to distance himself from Mac momentarily afterwards. He needed to think deep about what it is that he had to do to get rid of this guy. Argos seemed to be ahead of him in the process of finding out what this was, and his suggestion made some sense. "Perhaps…" Will responded, "It would explain why it’s not working as well near the heart, since this golden liquid seems heavier than regular blood." He smirked at Mac, and then said: "You know Mac, it’s rude to keep the hero of the story from taking the villain out after they make their bad-ass speech. Now I’m in a rut, if I come up with another bad-ass speech, it’ll be redundant, and if I don’t, it’ll be underwhelming." he sheathed his sword and looked at his enemy very carefully "You know what though, maybe I don’t need a speech after all, maybe I just have to blast you out of existence." William raised his arms in the air, puffed up his chest, and started firing feathers at an extremely high veocity from every inch of his body towards Mac, covering the entire area around him. He was determined not to leave him any opportunity to flee from this assault and follow him wherever he was going to run. In moments, the only clothes remaining around Will's body were the remnants of his shorts covering him for decency. Either Will was going to run out of feathers, or Mac was going to die. Tech

Truth be told, she wasn't quite sure how effective this countermeasure would actually prove to be, but the assassin was rather pleased with the end result as she managed to land a good blow in on the woman known as Rhythm. Even if Gomorrah hand't really managed to do any sort of devastating harm to the woman's body she did manage to get three poisons into her system as well as do a bit of harm to that leg of hers. Judging by her quick movements and emphasis on kicking from the last few attacks she had thrown it seemed that the woman took great pride in her legs. This was an opportunity that she couldn't let pass though. The momentum had swung into her favor and Raine was intent on keeping up the pressure. Eventually the seemingly level headed pirate would crack. A smirk spread across her face as she began to dart across the hallway in order to strike once again, the bounty hunter brandishing a short blade now. The most effective way to finish the woman at this point would be to cause her to bleed even more and let her poison do its job. That leg of hers was already showing signs of decent blood loss and it would only be another moment or so before her body was attacked by incredible pain and begin to bleed even more from every orifice. "I only have one target here. Stand down and I can assure you a swift end." Raine called while moving into stab her now, but a sudden attack from the end of the tunnel where most of the fighting was taking place caused her to make a sudden change in plans. A massive wall of...heat? Was spreading down the tunnels path. She didn't really know what else to describe it as, but she had managed to catch a glimpse of something similar earlier and it seemed that the walls of their current battleground were glowing a bright red. Hell, even from this distance she could feel a rise in the temperature. "Tch." She clicked her teeth. If it wasn't one thing then it was another in this damn fight, huh? With a quick kick off of the ground she Soru'd to where Rhythm was before using her hair tendrils to try and catch and restrain the woman. Hopefully with her being slowed down the woman would be easier to latch on to. With the attack coming the way it was it seemed that neither of them would be able to get out of this unscathed as one of Rhythm's allies had seemingly forsakened her. The plan was simple really. Rayne would just use her as a human shield as best as she could to lessen the harm to her own body. Hell, even if she couldn't get a hold on her with all three of the hair tendrils or her own free hand (since the other one is still holding the blade) she would simply stick close to the woman. Maybe she had some ability or gadget given to her by Arcadia that would prove useful right about now. The assassin was working with fairly limited options right about now. tldr and techs

Mac reached a hand to his torn apart mess of a chest, briefly touching the golden goop that was already pulling his torso back together. Even those hands had only just been lopped off, but the substance had latched them back on without any delay. "Heh... Sorry to spoil your fun, William." He grinned, wiping a smear of gold blood from the corner of his mouth. "I'll meet you on that challenge." With a moment's concentration, in which he raised his forearms in a boxer-like stance, Mac's entire body became glazed with a black sheen. He knew he couldn't keep up something so taxing for long, but with his body deteriorating already there was little point in holding back. The feathers collided with his head on, the first few doing little but bouncing off his hardened hide. However, they soon began to take effect. Those that hit in rapid succession would break past his armour and embed themselves into his skin, their weakening effect quickly coming into play. He grunted, slowly being pushed back by the barrage of bullet-feathers. It didn't help that some managed to hit him in the eyes and face, making it even more difficult to properly react. As such, Argos was just about free to move. Unaffected by the feathers, the wounds from which healed immediately after impacting him, he darted past Mac with a swift soru. The boxer, preoccupied with the feathers, could barely even make out the movement. Argos' straight kick from behind forced Mac to stumble forward, while also lowering the guard he had put up with his arms. Fortunately for him, the damage had been reduced by his haki, but even so it was quite a devastating blow. And on top of that, he had failed on another front. "You don't look like you can function all that well any more, isn't that right?" Argos was already standing at the entrance to the tunnel, his head turned towards Mac. "But I have more important matters to attend to." With a salute, he darted past Mac, paying little attention to the heat wall. It was powerful, but heat was his very element, and he could just heal any damage he took right back. Mac, on the other hand, had his haki shield blasted right through by the powerful wave, the golden substance struggling to keep him in one piece. The array of attacks he had taken in such a short amount of time had left even he motionless, unable to make any moves to attack. Or at least, unwilling to do so for some reason.
Missy's bullets hit their mark, putting a final smile on the markswoman's face before she began to pale. Not just from blood loss, either. Relentlessly, Eve smashed her face down into the floor and immediately followed up with an electric shock that would have been enough to kill an elephant. By then, Missy was already out cold, and so her jolting body let out no sound as it was fried from the huge voltage it had been forced to carried. It was only left a burnt wreck, the woman unmoving on the floor and her heart most certainly stopped. Comparatively, Rhythm was in better shape. That did not mean that she was in good form, though. The poisons that had begun circulating her body from the wound on her leg quickly took their toll on her body, her motor neurons and pain receptors becoming slightly erratic as a result. It was nothing she couldn't handle, but the grogginess and trickle of blood that had begun to seep from her eyes were certainly not pleasant sensations. It was mostly the damage to her leg from the actual bite wound that was causing her the most problems. The venom was also stopping her blood from clotting, which was causing an extremely inefficient exchange of oxygen to that leg not even counting the damaged muscle. Her senses themselves were not dulled however, and she soon took notice of Raine rapidly approaching with a soru. She immediately kicked away the first two hair tendrils that had been headed her way with a skilful butterfly kick, one leg for each tendril, but the third was not so easily avoided. It coiled around her to latch on tightly, preventing her from escaping as Raine rushed up to just about hug her form. Her first thought was to soru away, but such an action would be impossible while she was bound. She managed to make sure that she was facing her foe at least, the short range allowing her to strike her knee into Raine's leg easily, but that was all she could do before the wave of heat crashed into her back. She slumped down from the force of the attack, mostly kept upright by the hair tendrils holding on to her. "Those guys are your allies, right?" Henan muttered, turning to face Arcadia again as soon as Illya left his sights. "Well, used to be..." If that pirate hadn't gone to protect that woman, he would have certainly been surprised. But of course, Arcadia's protection was the top priority of everyone working for or with her. Unfortunately, just knowing this wasn't particularly an advantage. Illya's heat wave attack, which took up the entire tunnel, was the type of attack that was just about impossible to avoid even if he saw it coming. There was nowhere to hide... or was there? Henan's body shrunk down to the size of a bug in an instant, and in the same absurdly short space of time he had sped away from Illya with a soru. His destination was the corpse of Missy, which provided more than enough cover for him in his smaller form. And, just as an extra protective measure, he stopped his movements as soon as he reached his target. Not just because he had found cover, of course. He was very carefully tensing and controlling the muscles throughout his body, hardening his skin to become like iron using the technique known as tekkai. "Versus CP9? Unfortunately, beating people like that is far from easy..." Her speech was accompanied by a sharp intake of breath as her eyes met the forms of Missy and Rhythm, who had not fared all too well. At least Rhythm was still standing, while Missy was unlikely to even still be breathing. "Hold them all off yourself? That's very noble of you, but-" Her eyes narrowed at the pair of hands rising from the floor, leading her to instantly back away without hesitation. "You have fun with that!" She shouted, immediately turning to run off further down the corridor. Illya was certainly right about the anti-devil fruit grenade being useful against Eve, especially when the woman had so swiftly closed in to attack. However, activating it then would have just as big a chance of killing Illya, and a dead bodyguard would be very little use to her. Her best and only real option was to run, but of course not without a little bit of a backup plan first. It took only the press of a button on a control panel she kept in her pocket, and the ceiling behind her literally began to collapse. A large, titanium barricade began to descend down, its speed suggesting that it would block off the tunnel in barely ten seconds time. Edited by Oceonax, Jun 18 2015, 05:48 PM.

It was right there, right in front of him. He could literally see the spear, not an arm's length from him with his hammer coming down to shear it quite in two - behind him, on the other end of the spear, Eve's impaled weight vanished as she disappeared into the floor in a series of noises he never wanted to hear again, and the sounds of Mac and William farther back didn't sound any better - and then there was a sound like a bullet, and the spearman vanished from before them to stand beside Arcadia. Uncarayne's hammer continued downwards, the movement arrested only when it struck the floor in a shower of sparks and little else. Whatever the faults of this tunnel were with regards to its ventilation, Arcadia sure had shelled out the beli for the building materials. He picked his hammer up off the ground, straightening up to take stock of the situation; Missy was down, possibly dead, and Mac and William were engaged in a vicious battle of attrition behind them. Before them, though - the woman who could build an entire complex and then dismantle it without qualm or difficulty, and the man who could set things on fire as easily as pushing his hand out. Calling it a terrible, terrible mismatch would probably have been putting it lightly. And then that hand came up again, and that terrible heat, building up again. No. No, no, no. Uncarayne ran backwards, putting just a little distance between himself and the advancing wall of heat, and then threw up a tiny assortment of planks, little more than large enough for him to crouch on. Then he put a glove to the ground, filling the hallway ahead of him with a buildup of gas, pushing the Dial to release it as fast as he could. Three, two, one - the heat met the flammable gas, and there was an explosion that pushed the board, with Uncarayne on it, gracefully backwards on a cushion of force that just managed to keep abreast of the burning heat. At least, it was graceful for the first few seconds - then the board snagged and broke apart, and Uncarayne went tumbling backwards only to tumble into something massive and hard, instinctively flattening himself onto it with a muffled "Oof!"; by that distance, the heat had dissipated enough into the air and walls and floor to be bearable, and Uncarayne sighed in relief until he realised just how far back he'd been thrown. In the distance ahead of him through the red-glowing tunnel he could see Eve and Raine and Suhov, and - "oh, why me," he moaned as the ceiling began to collapse downwards to bar further approach. Not to mention that it didn't feel like he was on a wall. "Oh." He was on Mac's back. Well, that was doable. And William needed to get a move on, too, or they'd both be stuck behind that barrier and Eve and Raine - well, Uncarayne didn't want to imagine that. He leapt out of Mac's back, letting the impact push the man forwards into Will. He hit the floor, spun, and promptly threw all his strength into an attack on the man's neck with his hammer. "Gotta - get - going!" he shouted at Will as he struck. "That wall! Coming down!!"

The world, even in Eve's metal sanctuary, started to blur. She wasn't quite sure whether contact had been made or not, and it was even harder to concentrate on caring about anything. A deflated fizzle followed the heat wave, and Eve emerged, stumbling like a drunk, from the floor. It didn't take long for her to fall over entirely, and there she sat against the wall clutching her abdomen as the red cascade continued to flow unabated. Her shoulder wasn't in much better shape, but the strength to lift up her arm to compress that wound too was quickly dripping free. For a moment it sounded as if everything was underwater, distant and muffled, but voices still pricked at her drums. They were important voices, ones that had to be tailed like a dog would a scent. "Arcadia...!" Eve burbled. There was little she could do but watch as the heavy metal slab started to descend. Though it caused fresh spikes of pain to stab at her shoulder, she still reached out to try and grab at the fleeing figure, though there were a good distance between them. Eve's feet scratched against the ground and tried to find purchase, but her stomach screamed out and set her right back down where she was. Going beyond that door, even if it was just Arcadia alone, was likely suicide. They were going to lose her again. Not acceptable. With gritted and bloody teeth, Eve looked around. The door, inching its way closer to corresponding locks set in the floor, looked to be solid metal too. Even if the others couldn't get through, she would. She just needed... Her eyes scanned the way they had came, and locked on to the brief sight of a bronze vulture. Salty. He was a doctor, or a medic, or something. She needed patching up, ASAP. They could worry about the door soon enough. Eve was confident it'd only make for a small obstacle. There was Suhov too, but... Eve was Admiral-damned lightning. A mighty breath filled her lungs, pushed against her wound and made her eyes water, but it was enough. Even though her legs felt like they needed to be taught to walk again, Eve stood, almost collapsed in scooping up her rifle and then melted once more into pure blue. A crack pierced the air and before she knew it, Eve was rolling and sliding over the rough floor by William and Unca. She ended on her back, splayed out like a snow angel, and didn't budge from there. Much to her amazement, and annoyance, Mac still wasn't down, but it wouldn't be long before he was. When she opened her mouth to speak, a small spurt of blood flew out. "A little privacy if you don't mind," she snarled, before managing to lift a pair of fingers in the big guy's direction. Sparks flew, then pulsed outward right towards Mac's chest. It wasn't the most volts she could conjure, but it was all Eve could manage at the moment. "Hate to interrupt you when you're busy, Salty..." she spluttered through more blood. Wheezing started to taint her every breath. "But I could really use a little patching up." Techs |

Illya was pleased to see that his heat wall did its job in buying him and Arcadia a little bit of time. The pirate doubted that that single attack would be enough to take anyone down, they were rather tenacious little bastards, but if it could buy time and do even a little bit of damage, then he would continue using it. He was not the type to hate spamming a single attack as long as it worked and so far, it seemed to work just fine. The inventor was hoping that the heat wall would damage Henan, watching gleefully as the attack almost reached the man. And then the man disappeared. Well, not disappeared per say but more like became very, very hard to track. There was a blur of movement from the place where Henan was, one that was rather small, the doctor suspecting that it was the work of a devil fruit. After all, how else would you explain Henan's sudden 'disappearance' and subsequent blur, which was likely the work of Soru. Unfortunately, the martial artist lost track of Henan as the entire area was consumed in an explosion. Like before, the explosion did little to Illya aside from pushing him back a couple of feet as the heat gently lapped at his armour, his immunity to heat preventing any damage. As the air cleared a bit, two things happened. The first was Arcadia announcing that he was to have fun with something, mostly likely the second thing which was the lightning female emerging from the floor, before finally deciding that it was a good idea to run and activating a collapsing ceiling which would form a barrier between the two groups. The pirate watched the lightning user for a moment to make sure that she was not attempting to attack him before deciding on his course of immediate action. He agreed with Arcadia that him trying to hold off everyone would be considered suicide, especially since the bitch refused to use her anti devil fruit grenade, something that he was sure that he could avoid if necessary, and especially now that there was going to be a barrier between the two groups, one that he could certainly get through but would leave it destroyed. And since the Shichibukai did not leave him with any way to combat a devil fruit user, aside from his own seastone spear, there really was only a single course of action. Once again the inventor concentrated his power in his hand, releasing another heat wall at the mostly retreating group, before immediately Soru'ing under the collapsing ceiling, managing to get to the other side before it got too low for him to Soru under it. "Keep moving" the doctor said, perhaps a bit redundantly as he took off down the tunnel, glancing back every few seconds to see if the pursuit has been resumed. They really would only have a few seconds of rest, if that. He wasn't sure how many people could get past the barrier, aside from the lightning user, but he was sure that the CP9 agents would not find it too difficult. "So, just how dire does the situation need to be before you use the anti devil fruit grenade? I also need to know at least briefly how it works so that I can avoid its effects if necessary." the martial artist continued as he readied himself for another eventual confrontation. |

William’s determination to finish Mac hadn’t faded, but once he had successfully tore into his full body suit of haki, the continuation of the attack seemed to become redundant. Second after second, it became clear to Will that Mac had become incapable of countering or defending or even moving properly. He could only imagine the suffering that he was going through, being constantly torn apart and then being relentlessly healed by something that doesn’t belong in his body, and yet the only thing Will could do to end this would be to inflict even more suffering upon him. He had begun to become aware of how vicious this cycle is, especially since he wasn’t capable of discerning exactly when he should be stopping. It was then that Argos passed through the rain of feathers and kicked Mac out of the way. William immediately stopped his fire to let Argos pass, not having seen his power in action before. The hell is that? It seems to be some sort of logia… is that bastard sitting on the fire logia and letting me fight alone like this? It took him a moment to notice that Mac was not capable of movement. This was Will’s opportunity, he landed immediately and used soru once more, drawing one of his swords and releasing a shockwave capable of cutting steel towards Mac’s head, completely cutting it off. This time though, he didn’t let the golden goo reconnect it. He snatched the head quickly and went under the passage from upper floors they had used to come down here. He immediately threw the head upwards to land several floors above. "Now be a good Mac and go fetch your head." He said particularly to no one. It was then that he heard Uncarayne pop from behind Mac and say something about having to get a move on. In all honesty, Will hadn’t given much thought to actually catching Arcadia. He was here to help of course, but his primary motivation and the entire reason he had gotten involved, was keeping Unca alive, and later killing Mac to put him out of his misery. "The hell happened to you? Why is your entire body burned?" He went towards the tunnel to access the situation, and saw the door dropping in the distance. Arcadia was behind it, and Eve popped up next to him asking for medical help. These two are taking their mission very seriously. I have to help them! he thought. At this rate, they were going to lose Arcadia. He filled his lungs with air and yelled: “Raine, Henan, Argos, go right ahead and don’t let them get too far away. We will without any doubt catch up to you. No doors will keep us from doing that.” It was then that the only person on the enemy side that he hadn't met before, Illya Suhov, sent some sort fo red glowing wall towards them before disappearing. William didn't know what it was, but if it came from an enemy, it wasn't anything he woud be willing to take. He poised himself for attack, then used his legs to rotate his entire body while slicing the air at the same time. The result was a tonado which filled the entire width of the tunnel and collided with the red wall. The impact didn't last long as the red attack came out victorious. Moments after William realized the red thing was heat when it hit him. He felt it on his skin as it passed through him. Some of his feathers, especially at the front melted partially. He came out of it relatively unharmed, but rather sweaty. This explained exactly why Uncarayne was burned. After that, he turned towards the two marines: “Alright, both of you, move away from the quagmires so you don’t get infected, and I’ll treat your wounds as fast as possible.” he had made sure not to make big quagmires with the feathers, but there was still danger they would accidentally step into one. He started by giving Unca a bottle of his favorite mixture of numbing agent and antiseptic and a roll of bandages. “Shower your wounds with this, and bandage yourself quickly.” then he moved on towards Eve, drowning her two wounds in numbing agent antiseptic and stitching them skillfully, and quickly. He then applied sticky localized bandages. One large burn wound, one bullet wound and one stab wound. “Is this Suhov’s doing or Rhythm’s? And was it haki or seastone?" he quickly asked Eve before going into the tunnel again. The door was closed by then. William flew towards it as quickly as possible, and knocked on it to see how thick it is. "Unca, you’re good at breaking things, right? Make me as big a dent in this as you can. Right in the middle. Eve, you’re electricity, and I have plenty of metal on me, you reckon you can make my feathers and my swords more capable of destroying this?" He distanced himself from the door, to give Unca some space to work, and to give himself some room to build momentum. Techs

Damn, the brat was still agile even with all of that poison circulating through her system, but apparently not agile enough to avoid begin captured by at least one of her new hair limbs and that was enough for Raine to be pleased even if she did take another kick, this one to her leg, although the force was somewhat blunted by her armor it still hurt. The assassin nearly lost her footing from the force behind it as her leg slid against the tunnel a bit but she maintained a steady stance. From her she would latch on to rhythm with the previously deflected hair limbs and crouch down now, try to get as much of her body's surface area behind the human shield as the wave of red hot heat passed over them. The makeshift shield was far from perfect and she still felt a fair amount of heat pass over the back of her body but at least her little tactic managed to protect her a fair deal. Once the attack passed over them the green haired fighter simply crumpled in her hair, her body not taking the strike all too well. "Some ally you've got there." She commented beneath her breath while going for a swift stab to the chest with her blade, the weapon going straight for the girl's heart to put her out of her misery. Even if it didn't hit its mark she hoped to get her to bleed out a bit more before her poison reached its limits. She had already wasted enough time on this one anyway. Looking ahead though she could make out what appeared to be the ceiling coming down. Damn, she was trying to close them off behind a wall and even worse yet it seemed another blast of heat was coming their way. The assassin didn't even need to hear the call from William to know what she should do right about now, but she wouldn't be able to use Soru and carry her meat shield at the same time. Damn, this Suhov guy was a real handful huh? Still, it seemed that Rhythm was already in pretty bad shape. Making a snap decision, Raine charged ahead, carrying her body before throwing it forward and using it in a similar manner as before to protect herself from some of the harm. The protection this time around wasn't as great to be honest, but it was still better than nothing. Once that attack had passed she would attempt to Soru beneath the wall as well in order to get in before it closed them out. That was assuming that Henan and Argos had managed to make it in of course. Much like Eve, she was not too interested in a suicide dive. Suhov was a fight all his own, but dealing with the shichibukai as well would prove to be a real issue. She would need the help of the CP9 agents right now as it seemed like everyone else had pulled back due to injuries. She had gotten lucky this time around, her only real injuries coming from those two heat blasts that had been mitigated a bit due to some unexpected help. Still, she couldn't be taking those back to back without going down at some point. Assuming that all three of them had managed to get to the other side in time it wouldn't take a genius to know what was coming. Suhov was intent on just throwing those walls down the hallway at them until they couldn't do anything more about it. The huntress would turn her eyes to the Cipher Pol agents with a frustrated glare. "Come on, you're supposed to be the best of the best. You have to have something to deal with those attacks." |
