"You wanna kill Argos? He's a bit of a pain to deal with, regeneration means that you can't deal with any temporary half-measures. I have something that I'm holding onto but I won't give it to you just yet since there's only one of them. When you need it I'll give it to you then." The girl looked at Mac, the writhing had stopped and it appeared that the man with the fresh new hair colour had finally settled from the pain. Gritting his teeth, Better and Improved Mac lifted himself up off of the ground and moved around a little as if he had never been in a body before. Moving over to a pillar, the boxer slammed his fist into it and watched the structure crumble. Nodding to himself, he turned to face Arcadia. "Looks like everything works properly. Not bad, looks like you didn't mess anything up this time Coney. I'm impressed. Well not impressed, more like mildly amused." "What, did you expect that I would fuck this up? How long have you known me again? Twelve years?" Mac merely chuckled and glanced at the X on the ground. "I can break through this easy, it's all lined up as well so once you get past the first floor gravity more or less does the rest. Hell, even Missy could probably break it with her fists if she tried hard enough." The markswoman simply raised her middle finger to the man, not bothering to look away from her collection of weapons she was slowly cleaning and stowing away for later usage. "Well Mac is right even if he's exaggerating, it doesn't take too much strength to break through the first level. With the right technique anyone can do it, the real problem is about not getting injured on the way down. That's not really a problem for most of us so it should be fine. As long as you don't do anything dumb it'll be fine." Arcadia glanced at Mac, the drug had significantly altered his body's connection with his brain. This was a new territory they were delving into, the effects would probably show themselves later but that was really a concern for a later time. "So, are we all ready?" Missy had finished examining her weapons and had begun poking Rhythm in the cheek as they all just stood there idly. Mac and Arcadia both nodded, the boxer having changed out of his bloodstained shirt into a white singlet. Arcadia glanced at Illya and motioned to the centipede to ready himself, smirking slightly as Mac inhaled and winded up his arm. "Well, there's no going back now. Stand calm and make sure to look out for everyone else, those fuckers got the upperhand last time since they banded together and picked us off one on one. I have no idea how this is going to go down so just cross your fingers." "I'll try and hold them off, you guys just run as fast as you can. I hope you're ready since this is going to be insane." In that moment, Mac slammed his fist into the ground causing supports to shatter. "Hague, what's the call on Suhov? We have permission to execute right?" Argos spoke into a den den mushi, speaking to his boss as Henan listened in from the side. "Of course, I'm assuming you two have the tact to make rational decisions on the ground. Be warned that all the other agents aren't within a reasonable range so it's really just you against them. We have another fleet coming in to secure the building but we can't help you other than that. Good luck you two, it'd be unfortunate if you died." Argos placed the den den away and faced Henan and Lawson, both of them nodding with a grim face, having picked up the important parts of the conversation. Even though the news didn't really surprise anyone, the confirmation still hit them hard. Normally the mood would be brighter, unfortunately they rarely ever had to fight a supergenius, a mythical centipede, a guy who wasn't a fan of dying, a girl who could basically shoot everything within a mile long radius and another girl who just sort of danced around and assaulted people. Not a great time. "Yeah, just tell everyone that we're CP9. Why not? It's not like we're a top secret agency writing your checks or anything." Henan made a random jab at Uncarayne, mostly in jest, before turning to address Raine's perfectly valid question. "So, officially she hasn't been removed from the Shichibukai yet. The plan was to originally silently take her out and after a while just declare her missing and put someone else in her spot. Therefore, legally, her bounty has not been unfrozen. However due to the nature of the situation, if we make it out of here alive you will be fully compensated for your actions to an amount that is appropriate to the amount of risk. I can even raise your threat value if you want to, we have enough pull to do almost anything these days. Well, we as an agency also operate in favours, if there's anything you're looking for we can possibly help you out there." Yeah, getting out of here alive would be a nice little thing right now. Argos had a small smile etched on his face however, a devilish grin. "You know, this is the first time since we had to break our way out of that revolutionary stronghold that I've genuinely been excited about what's going to go down. There's adrenaline racing through my system, my heart is beating like crazy. This brings me back to the old days where even the smallest missions were so much fun to carry out. Blood flying everywhere and using pure strength instead of stealth. This really does bring me back." Henan shook his head. "You know you're absolutely insane right? I thought we finally managed to reel you in as well. Nope, your chain had to go and snap. Unbelievable." The man smirked, instinctively placing his hand near one of his knives. There was no denying this was exciting. The ex-bounty hunter took in a deep breath, trying to calm down his nerves. *CRASH* Mac and a few other silhouettes crashed through the roof and then through the floor, passing by for a mere second but for enough time for chaos to erupt. Argos and Lawson didn't even hesitate, both of them immediately diving after them through the new hole in the ground. "Drop everything you're doing and get to the bottom floor as fast as fucking possible. I swear to everything, why the fuck weren't we told about this. Is Library just fucking around again and hiding shit?" Henan moved forward, sighed, and dropped down the hole. Mac stood there in the secret passage underneath the building that the hole had lead them to, Arcadia having already started moving. The man had a presence like a sentinel, all he had to do was one thing. Slow them down. |

"Yeah, Devil Fruit Juice bombs!" said Uncarayne animatedly in response to Raine's question. He mimed the shape of them with his hands, little round things that he cupped in the air, like grenades or bombs or balloons! "She said she put the juices of a bunch of Devil Fruits in them, and was like -" his voice changed to mimic Arcadia's, rather badly - " 'oh these will kill you if you even look at them funny', and then she threw them at us and they exploded!" He shuddered. "Fortunately she was throwing them down the generator room and we didn't get hit, but that was really really close!" He grimaced when William brought up the possibility of Mac not having died, though. The prospect of having to fight that man all over again was... rather less than fun. "Mac? Looked pretty badly off there, though... and your gunk got all over him, too, didn't he?" He shook his head. "No telling what Arcadia might do to him though. Maybe she'll put him in a giant metal Pacifista suit and he'll shoot lasers at us!" He paused. "Arcadia's definitely the big one we want to take out, though, isn't she? I mean our entire mission here is for her - I mean 'our' me and Eve's, sorry, not our our -" with an apologetic look at William and Raine - "but you can totally join in! They can join in, right? I mean they already joined in really!" And Uncarayne turned hopeful eyes on Argos and Henan, and the new guy who'd turned up with Raine. Lawson. Not that they had very much attention to spare for Uncarayne, right at the moment; Eve had come along and was already talking to them, delivering her report on things while pacing to and fro. He beamed and gave her a thumbs-up, and then she suddenly jumped in front of him and slapped him on the shoulders. He blinked. "Oh! Oh - er -!" he said at first, having completely missed the tail end of her train of thought and having to do the mental equivalent of running very very hard to jump onto the last carriage, "-oh! Secret rooms and things? Um. Maybe in the maintenance rooms? Nobody ever goes in there, if you connected them all by hidden panels or something! Or the air vents, nobody ever goes in those too -" he broke off, remembering that Eve and he had indeed gone crawling in air vents before, "or just shafts in between floors? They're really thick!" He gave a kind of shrug. "Though maybe she already has gone away! We were pretty high up, maybe she just went up to the roof and flew off?" And then Will came in too, along the same idea but vastly different execution. Uncarayne boggled at him. Our dear Uncarayne thinks maybe beating up the floor would get us killed even faster was what he would have said, except he didn't even get to say that because there was a giant crash and a cloud of smoke right beside them. Time slowed down dramatically, and Uncarayne blinked. That was definitely Mac, and yes, he was ragingly alive. He also wasn't encased in a metal suit, which meant that entire punch was all him. And of course, in his wake were Arcadia, Missy, and somebody he didn't recognise at all. And then time went back to normal, and he was slumping back, his earlier intended sentence completely cleared out of his head. "Well, fffffffuuuuuuuuu..." He popped entirely out of the wall, then, cracking his neck and knuckles as he got back up to his feet. He grinned slightly sourly, reaching out and punching Will lightly in the shoulder. "Guess we'll have to destroy the whole floor a bit later, boss man!" The Cipher Pol men had already leapt through the hole, and Uncarayne peered in. "Guess I'll see you at the bottom!" he said cheerfully to Will, Eve, and Raine, and ruffled Eve's hair affectionately. Then he threw a few boards together into a smaller version of the room that he had built for Eve and Bobby earlier, but left the connections between several of the walls unsealed. He picked the room up and threw it down the whole, then launched himself after it, flattening himself onto its surface; as it fell, the room "unfolded", leaving Uncarayne plummeting down on what was essentially a giant "T" shape made of connected wooden boards. It was fast, noisy, and Uncarayne got off of it just before it hit the ground and shattered entirely; he landed just a moment later, flammable gases released and swirling around him. A snap of his fingers ignited the gases and the shattered wood, casting a dramatic flare-up of fire around and behind Uncarayne as he stood up in the secret passageway. A moment later he yelped and darted out of the fire. "Hot! Hot! Never trying that again!" He patted his smoking uniform down quickly before it actually caught fire, and sighed in relief that he wasn't too badly singed. He looked up. "Argos? Henan? Lawson?" His voice echoed off of the walls, and in the silence he could hear - and almost feel, palpably - the presence of Mac, the immovable obstacle in their way to Arcadia's arrest. Uncarayne squared his jaw at the figure; he oozed vitality, but there was something... off about him, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. "Mac, my man. Long time no see. Not long enough." He broke into a dead run charging at the man with his hammers out, as if aiming for a direct hit: a feint. Instead, the moment he got within range of Mac, he flattened himself onto Mac's chest, then traveled onto his shoulder and leapt up from there, kicking Mac down to the floor. Accompanied by the hissing of gas from his gloves, he twisted in mid-air, one hammer whirring and the other raised high, and came slamming down onto Mac. "Ham Slicer Big EEE! Ham Stopper Big!!" With what remained of the impact, he rolled away from Mac, flattening himself back into the wall with only one hand still extended out of it. He snapped his fingers, the spark caught, and the thick cloud of gas that Uncarayne had left in the wake of his movement went boom.

It was difficult for Eve to hide her disappointment. Perhaps, she figured, it had been naive of her to think that Unca would be able to provide the answers to all their worries, but it was worth a shot. Everything he said, the vents, the maintenance rooms, all made sense but it did little practically to narrow down the search. The building was simply too large for them to be rooting behind every panel and vent, and that was assuming Arcadia hadn't, in fact, managed to get out a window a fly off on one of her marvelous contraptions. Things looked to be slipping, and Eve couldn't help but turn away to gaze at some random store to mask her concern on the matter. Arcadia could not get away. That reality wasn't even fathomable. Was demolishing the entire floor, as Will suggested, really the best way to locate Arcadia and put her away for good, even if that place was a grave? It was a doable task, certainly - Eve might even have been particularly well suited to it, but the collateral would be insane and there could be more than a few innocents hiding out within the stores. Throwing destructive bolts of lightning around everywhere wouldn't help them. No, it had to be used on Arcadia and her cronies alone. To use it otherwise... A few rogue sparks danced around Eve's coat and she let out a breath she hadn't even realized she was holding. To use it otherwise wasn't permitted. Her grip tightened on on the stock of Quicksilver. They were one and the same, save one was a part of her, and not to be misused. She wasn't to be misused. "We're not demolishing the entire floor, Salty. Just... spread out, keep our ears open. There's already been enough things broken by that woman. We'll find her, end this, then you two can get your pay, if you want it." It wasn't exactly a smile that Eve shot Raine's way, but something bordering on respect. "Either way, thanks. For the help and all." She wondered then how different things might have been if she had never taken the whitecoat, went freelance instead and gunned people down for whatever reason Argose had. Standing by them, instead of Unca? Still in the Blues? Dead? It was all Eve could do but shake her head quietly to herself. The subject didn't really help thinking about. As much as she really didn't want to, the thoughts of Kazehara did help thinking about. They were necessary even, unavoidable. CP9's conversation all but confirmed it; Suhov was here and he, too, would have to go one way or the other. A hundred million beli bounty, right-hand to another high-ranking Shichibukai. There was no denying it; none of them were really ready for this, Argos and Henan notwithstanding. But, at the very same time, there was nothing for it. They were trapped in that building with no escape but to plow their way to victory, or otherwise die trying. Eve didn't even jump when the ceiling collapsed and their very targets whizzed passed in freefall. They were destined to meet again at some point, and Eve was sure it would be the last. Justice or death. Very romantic, in a way. Unca had just the time to ruffle her hair, causing her to erupt in a wide-smile, before Eve went full-lightning. her body pulsed with an intense blue light and arcs of electricity clawed and scorched the ground around her. "Yes sir!" she barked in response to Henan. And then she was gone - reappearing in a flash above the hole just before the others got there. Arcadia, Mac, Missy... and him, all down below her, just itching to scuttle away. "Not again," she breathed. Her rifle was already brought to bear, the coil within sparking furiously. "Soon as I'm done, get 'em!" she called to her comrades, but her eyes were fixated on her targets. "Arc!" The air buzzed and crackled around her. "Destroyer!" A split-second later and the rifle barrel exploded in a beam of lighting that tore its way downward directly towards that despicable crew. The lightning wasn't all, however. Eve knew Mac could block it, no doubt the others had similar tricks. So, just behind the blinding bolt, came something else entirely. As the electricity had left her gun, Eve also had the mind to pump the trigger for everything it was worth, resulting in a shower of bullets that threatened to hit everyone of them right atop their skulls. "Not again," she mouthed. Not again! Techs

Illya did not particularly like Arcadia's response with regards to the anti-Argos grenade but he understood the reasoning behind it. After all, if there was only grenade, which he doubted, it would make sense to hold onto it until the last possible moment of dire need. Still, that did not mean that he had to like it all. On the brighter side of things it did appear that the weak point was the same on every floor which mean that they would not need to waste time trying to find the weak spot every time and thus lose any and all the precious time they would need to escape the Marines. Another fortunate thing was Mac's desire to be the one that would break the floors, which was all fine and dandy considering that now the inventor would not need to use his own strength and effort to do so. Making sure that his armour was sealed up nice and tight and that his stealth transformation was still going, putting of minute amounts of heat around him, the doctor rolled his shoulders a couple of times and turned his head from side to side to make sure that everything was healed up nice before signaling that he was ready. Waiting by the side, the pirate watched as Mac reared back his fist before punching at the apparent weak spot, the floor crumbling away quite easily and the man disappearing into the hole just a fast. Not wasting any time, the others jumped down as well. Waiting until the last member of the Shichibukai crew was in the hole, the one armed man leaped down as well. He could feel the wind tugging at his clothing over the armour as floors sped on by. This was really an interesting method of travel. Quite fast too. The only problem was at the end. Fortunately, he had a way of stopping himself without crashing head first into the ground floor. But before all that there were still a couple of floors left to go. Passing one such floor, Illya saw the Marines just standing there shell shocked. While he would have prefered if they managed to break through the floors without being seen, the pirate could not help but break into a smile. The poor bastards did not know what hit them. Unfortunately, he doubted that that would last for long. Looking up several floors later revealed that they were being followed. As the first floor quickly approached, the inventor jumped off the air, slowing himself down enough before hitting the ground and rolling a couple of feet to absorb the impact. Yep, he would be most sore in the morning. If he got out of here alive that is. As soon as he got out of his roll, the doctor Soru'd further up the tunnel to catch up to rest of the group, and not too soon. The one armed man felt his hair stand on end and looking back he saw a mass of lightning crash into the area he had just vacated. Even with all his powers, he was not entirely sure if he would be able to survive it. Well, he probably would but would definitely be much worse for wear and he did not want to use up another pill just yet. He would definitely need it later on. Catching up to the group, he saw that Mac was remaining to stay behind and give the group a few extra minutes to get away. Illya briefly considered staying behind as well to buy Arcadia extra time but very quickly remembered what happened the last time he left Arcadia alone. Nothing fun. Plus there was there was the whole thing with Arcadia not giving him an anti-Argos grenade there really wouldn't be much he could do. As such, it was a rather simple decision to stay with Arcadia instead. Before leaving Mac, the pirate took out his sticky pistol and sprayed the floor, walls, and ceiling with mashed potatoes. He did not recall where he found the pistol but it was suddenly on his person and up till now, he never had to use it in combat. First time for everything. That done, the inventor hurried after the rest of the group, who were moving full speed down the tunnel. Hopefully Mac would be able to buy them at least a minute or so but with what was coming down the hole, it was very doubtful. Though any time at all would be greatly appreciated. "So how far does this go? I doubt that Mac will be able to deal with all the Marines without some way of combating the devil fruit users. As such, the faster we get out of here and off the island, the better." the doctor said, bringing up the rear. Out of the remaining group, he could take the most amount of damage though hopefully he would not need to do so. Either way, this tunnel would probably be where the showdown finally happened. |

William was looking very badass drawing his rapiers with a lustful grin like that. Eve didn’t seem impressed by his wit, but he already knew Uncarayne was probably the only marine who actually liked to have any fun at all, so that didn’t surprise him. What surprised him was that the CP9 guys totally ignored him. They looked like people who would enjoy mindless destruction a little bit, especially that Argos guy who was talking about how he liked the rush of the mission. Or if they didn't, they should have at least objected or acknowledged his words. In the few next moments though, Will knew that they’ve wasted too much time. He heard a rumbling sound traveling down from above. It was way too quick for him to rationalize it, but the ominous feeling was there. As the Shichibukai’s crew blurred by to the lower floor, William glimpsed Mac in there, looking a little bit too healthy for his taste. Uncarayne took the opportunity to gibe about Will’s earlier proposal before he obeyed Henan’s order and went away, immediately followed by Eve. Uncarayne and Eve went into the hole after the enemy, while Will lingered only enough to respond to Raine’s earlier inquiry about who they should attack first. "It looks like we won’t get to choose who to fight first after all." he said as he sheathed his swords. He transformed into his quickest form and flew directly towards the hole, then down it. He was intercepted by the flaming remnants of the wooden platform that Uncarayne had used, but put no thought into understanding why it was there as he swept by. He had no problem avoiding the impact with the floor given his unparalleled agility in flight and the heat washed over him without hurting him given the feathery armor he had on. Will stood hovering above Uncarayne his comrade also seemed to be assessing the situation. Eve being the fast she is had already attacked. Mac was standing in their way, alone. He did not look like someone who had just gone through a near death experience. He was definitely whole again, but there was in fact still something about him that gave Will a very wrong feeling. He was like one of those yellow people who felt strong but were clearly still recovering to the keen eye of a doctor. Only this never actually happened this fast in Will’s experience, and whatever abomination of nature caused it was clearly sucking the life out of every part of him. His hair was withering already. The doctor felt a little wrong in his stomach, trying to figure out exactly how Arcadia found it in her heart to treat her comrade this way. He hadn’t missed that the Shichibukai hadn’t actually bothered to carry the body of her other fallen comrade, the one before, and now she has deliberately zombified this one for the sole purpose of stalling them so she could get away. Until now he was only in this fight to guarantee Unca’s survival, and maybe Eve’s too while he was at it, but right now this particular scene pissed him off beyond belief. Unca moved and attacked Mac first. William activated his bird vision technique right then to be able to see every detail. He could not permit himself to miss this particular shot. Mac needed to be disposed of quickly, but that was not the only thing that drove Will right now. This guy deserved a clean death. He deserved to die like the warrior he is, not get dragged through the metaphorical desert by the metaphorical horse like this. Once it seemed like Uncarayne was done attacking, the musketeer drew one of his rapiers with a bird-talon, then lowered himself quickly without losing what was happening from sight, and then as soon his talons touched the ground, he propelled himself at a terribly fast speed, blurring past everything in his path like a "Silver Flash" and put himself - hovering in the air - in the perfect position to deliver one big slicing shockwave with surgical precision towards Mac’s neck, at point blank range, with the aim to decapitate him on the spot. He used the most powerful single shockwave technique he knew, one that he usually uses for slicing through steel obstacles. Techs Used

"That works for me." She commented while inspecting her equipment to be sure everything was in tip top shape. It seemed they would be getting ready to move any moment now. While Raine was tempted to speak out to the Cipher Pol agents as well as Eve when it came to pay she kept it to herself. How many times did she have to tell people that money was the last thing she was focused on when it came to this situation. No matter, this was likely the last time she'd run into these specific people anyway. Wasn't every day you ended up on a mission along side World Government secret agents as a bounty hunter and thus she couldn't say that this wasn't interesting to say the least. Looking over to Will it seemed that he was seriously contemplating his idea of just blowing this entire floor out in orer to get to Arcadia. It seemed like a pretty stupid idea in her mind, but she merely thought that because such tactics weren't really the huntresses's style when it came to catching prey. It seemed like someone or soemthing would beat them to the punch this time around though as not far from the group something came crashing through the cieling and while it was difficult to make out through all of the dust and debris that had been kicked up she could definitely make out the forms of several figured descending from the roof and continuing down to the next floor. Well, it definitely had to be the shichibukai and her crew as no one else was up there. "Tch. They always have to make things difficult." She commented to no one in particular as it seemed all of the planning she had been doing was practically wasted by this point. Not wasting anytime though it seemed like everyone began to make their way towards the hole in order to begin the chase, and not surprisingly the lightning woman was the first to make it there. The marine sitting over the hole and blasting a massive amount of lightning down the hole. She had never seen the lightning logia, but now being able to witness its might firsthand was pretty impressive. After that she (being the fastest) made it to the hole next and darted down like a rocket, kicking off of the level they were on and reducing her surface area in order to shoot down the shaft as quickly as possible. Of course unlike some people she didn't posses magical powers or anything of the sort such as flight to help get out of such a fall unscathed. A few levels before the final floor the woman would lash out with large hair arms, the limbs extending past the rim of the hole and slamming into the flooring of the levels, smashing through the already weakened structure and continuing to the next floor. This would slow her down up until the last floor where she would get a firm solid hold of the ceiling and drop herself down. It was still far from a graceful landing but she needed to move as quickly as possible. As expected though upon reaching the final floor they would be greeted by a member of the inventor's crew. The man standing before them seemed, strange to say the least, but who was she to judge? Right now the only thing the bounty hunter saw standing in her way was an obstacle that needed to be taken care of. Sure, the idea of trying to make it past him and just giving chase to the priority target had wandered into her mind, but that was practically suicide. Even if she pulled it off she woul just be charing directly into a group of enemies who were likely her strength or stronger. No, the better option here was to take him out as a group as quickly as possible and push forward. "Ten seconds..." That was the maximum amount of time they could spend here, no more than that. Preferably at least half that time, but she wasn't one to underestimate an enemy. As Uncarayne attacked Raine followed the same strategy as Will and waited for him to finish before launching a simultaneous attack. The way they moved in tandem sort of reminded the woman of the way in which they took down the Don not long ago. Kicking off the ground she blitzed at the man with incredible speed, a vial in her hand being smashed along the way and dousing her gauntlet in a strange liquid as she near instantly closed the distance gap and followed one bullet speed movement with another near instant attack. As Will was already aiming high and right for the neck Raine was aiming for his chest, specifically the heart in order to kill him as quickly as possible. It seemed like all of Arcadia's men had some sort of trick up their sleeves so her whole idea was to try and kill him before even getting to see what that trick was. The poison was also a pretty good fallback here as the man seemed rather tough and intimidating but everyone had their limits and blood was one of them. While Raine wasn't aware of it this poison seemed like it would work in tandem with the drug given to him by Arcadia as his heart rate and other biological processes had already been increased to insane levels. You get that plus some open wounds from a couple of bounty hunters and you'd end up with....well a pretty nasty mess to be honest. techs and stats

"It's a bit far since this is actually a support system that helps the island float, so just be careful. It's a single winding path so we're going to have to go as fast as possible." Arcadia spoke quickly whilst opening a few switches that illuminated the metallic passage as the group dashed through the tunnel, the power source wasn't connected to the main generators of the building after all. No one had sustained any damage on the way down, which was good, but it was quite clear that they had alerted the CP9 bunch on the way down, which was bad. "So you're following us? Ok. That'll probably work, just be on the wary. They have a few fast runners on their side, also they have magical powers." It was Arcadia, Illya, Rhythm and Missy, with Mac having been left behind to play the hero for as long as he could. Well, obviously it wasn't a long time but the mere presence of him would buy even buy the smallest amount of time. Once they had a nanosecond they could exploit that into something so much more than that. Five people up against seven, numbers wise that was a pretty terrible situation. Luckily, the bunch had the greatest wildcard in a one thousand kilometre radius, Arcadia and whatever messed up shit she decided was a good idea to build. Illya wasn't anything to laugh at either (aside from his name and his funny clothing and all the like). "I sent a command to the robo-ship thing to make its way to the exit, are you sure that even still works? It's been stored in a damp room for the best part of seven years." Arcadia shrugged. "Worst comes to worst, we'll just use the weird peddle-boat thing that I made as a joke. Rhythm, you can power that right?" The green haired girl with the headphones merely nodded, not really caring to take part in this conversation. The girl was always quiet, off in her own world whilst everyone else was fighting for their lives. There would probably be a stern conversation about this if they survived. Mac was the same as ever, well aside from all the chemicals that were swirling through his body and the barrage of new damage that the CP9 party quickly slammed down onto the white haired man. The constant barrage of damage tried to heal as more and more pressure was forced onto him. It was like elastic, the body moved inwards and then just snapped back. The process did visibly exhaust him though, Mac was audibly out of breath and symptoms of fatigue showed in the man's eyes. The anti-clotting drug in his blood caused gold liquid to continually seep from his body Argos, Henan and Lawson stood there, watching the group pile damage onto the boxer. "I didn't think that was even possible, it's like your regeneration powers as a passive function. It reminds me of the drug that's being passed around certain groups on The List, what's it called again? 'The Black'? Something dumb like that, I'm pretty interested in it though. I suspect that I'm not the only one, if we can pick him up alive that'd be nice and dandy. I'm sure Pan-chan wouldn't be against that." Argos merely nodded, not particularly caring about any of the scientific or medical nonsense, nope. He just wanted to get his mission done. "This is way too inefficient, I'm going to take charge of this. You! Stymphalion Bird, Salty I think it was. Yeah, you're working with me. We're going to beat the shit out of this guy and let the other's go ahead. We really can't lose time bonding over teamwork and friendship. Henan, Lawson. I leave the catch up to you two." Argos bolted forward, grabbing the throat of the drugged up man whilst moving into his Phoenix hybrid form, dragging Mac along the metal ground and into the wall. Without giving Mac too much time to breathe, the CP9 agent tossed the man straight at Will. "There's no such thing as a perfect shield, you just need a big enough hammer. He has a weakness, find it was fast as you can." Henan had already started moving, the moment Argos had declared his plan Henan had formed his own in his mind. He moved at an insane speed, covering large distances in a split second. As he eyed onto his target, a coy smile began to form on his face. Pulling out a small but sharp knife, the agent calmed his heart and erased almost all of his presence including the sound of his footsteps and breathing. Like that, he begun shrinking his size, turning slightly green as his features became more insect like, all until he was pretty much the size of an apple. Like that, the man disappeared. Well, not really disappeared. He had just used Soru to silently move himself next to Arcadia, directing a knife straight in the direction of Arcadia's neck. This play wasn't necessarily about doing anything lethal, it was more about buying time for the small army that was moving in from behind. |

It was insane, absolutely insane. What had Arcadia done to Mac to leave him like this? Nothing seemed to faze him: Eve lashed out with her lightning in blinding-bright strobes that left spots in Uncarayne's vision, and he stood there and took it. Uncarayne's hammers cut and smashed, and he simply bore them without a word. William flashed by, the air visibly distorting in his wake as shockwaves rocked through it, and all the response they got was a dull murmur from Mac. Raine appeared after William, her hand plunging out and into the man with a sick squishing sound... and still nothing, other than the glistening gold that he was bleeding. What was that? A blood substitute, or some kind of strange chemical? Mac had certainly lost enough blood in their previous encounter, and it said something about the man that he was still alive to bar their way... but it clearly came at a high cost. Whatever Arcadia had done to him, to that proud violent fighter, to keep him alive and mobile... it seemed to have done a number on his mind. Uncarayne stood behind, panting and dripping sweat like bullets. There was little enough ventilation in the shaft, and between his fire and Eve's lightning the air had warmed up considerably. The shockwaves had stirred the air somewhat, but now that everybody was simply grouped up around the impassable Mac, it was stagnating again. Then Argos spoke, and Uncarayne winced at his speech. That was the Cipher Pol for you: cold, dispassionate, a singular sizing up of the obstacles in the way of the mission's success and and immediate, brutal response. They had thrown Uncarayne and Eve into danger the way Arcadia had left Mac behind to face it, and now they were going to carry out the cold-blooded execution of a man who could do little but stand there and receive it. It just felt wrong, on some level, but there was the other cold, dispassionate fact that Uncarayne hadn't been brought on this mission for his feelings. Like Eve said, they were tools of the Marines, and right now their wielders wanted them elsewhere. He swallowed his opinions and some of the sweat that had trickled into his mouth, and nodded. "Going up ahead," he said in a toneless voice, already a flat smear on the floor and surging forwards after Henan and Lawson. Arcadia? Dangerous, unpredictable, probably carrying any number of lethal weaponry. Rhythm? Too fast; he'd be lucky even to keep up with her movements, and she'd see him coming from a mile away, even in the dark of the tunnel. That left the unknown man, and Missy. The unknown man - probably Suhov - was another unknown, and almost certainly a powerful threat in his own right. Maybe he was even Mac's replacement, thought Uncarayne as he closed the distance, pushing himself to the utmost speed that his Fruit gave him. That left Missy, and her gun. He thought he would be able to take that. She might get off a shot or two, but he'd taken worse than a couple of bullets. Missy it was, then, and he threw himself in an arc, travelling from the floor to the wall to the ceiling in a zigzag motion to throw off her aim. He opened his palm on her when he got close enough, the flammable gas hissing out audibly, thick enough to smell. "If you fire that gun, Missy, you're going to burn." It was a bald statement, with no humour or admonishment in it. No grin on his face, either. He swung his hammer, the shockwave pushing the gases down towards the girl and making way for more gas to follow behind it. Uncarayne came behind the gas, leaping down from the ceiling with his hammer whining to crash down on the girl.

Eve started to fall. Even lightning was susceptible to gravity, and it tugged her downward into that pit. Which was fine. By that point, Eve's rage would see her doggedly pursue that snake just about anywhere. She had the will to kill, and more importantly the power to do so. Just you wait, Arcadia! her mind spat. Everything seemed to be tinted by red, and Eve's limbs were almost on autopilot. Henan and Argos had said to go, so she went. They said to kill, and so it would be done, with extreme prejudice. None of this occurred to her at the time - her mind was alive and throbbing with dancing lights that all centered on one thing, and one thing only; putting Arcadia down, once and for all. Directing her freefall, Eve grabbed on to a mangled stretch of rebar and bounced herself off the concrete pillar just below it, down to the dusty floor of the next level. That same dust didn't have time to settle before she was casting herself even further downwards; running, spinning, twisting and bounding from one support to another in a non-stop sequence of superhuman acrobatics. Soon there was little need to even bother slowing her fall, and neatly landed in a crouched hunch on the lowest level. Mac awaited them like a tireless statue that stubbornly refused to be broken despite the punishment that had rained down on it. Eve hesitated. Mac was wasn't worth it, in several senses. He wasn't the target, just a goon. And even if he was, the life had left his eyes, regardless of whether his body realized that fact or not. Little more than a vegetable set atop a wall of granite. Would putting him down be a mercy or- An image of Bobby flashed into her mind, making her cheek spasm and her teeth to bare with it. "I-" It didn't matter. Argos had provided a wrecking ball to the problem and tossed Mac aside like the doll he was. She sprinted to the tunnel, saw Arcadia's back and snarled as the world went red again. Red, and then white, as Unca was at her side, his smile gone and those hammers of his ready to cave some girl's head in. Eve had a hand on Unca's shoulder before she realized she had commanded it. His smile was gone, and with it something momentarily switched off in Eve. "Hey," she said, perhaps almost too soft to be heard. A smile was too much of a burden to carry, but resolution - clarity, or more like confidence in purpose, she could manage. "Even building stuff is dirty work, but we're the ones that make something nice in the end. We. Are. The good guys." Another pat on Unca's shoulder, and then Eve tossed her rifle to her side and pulled her sleeves up. "So let's go pull out some crooked nails." Arcadia was running, no doubt as fast as she could. Running, her feet pounding along a corridor of steel and iron. It may as well have been a giant vein for Eve to pump her magic down. Hands awash with electrical energy touched the floor, the sparks eagerly leaping and clawing at the metal, just waiting for the chance to tear through it. Could Arcadia, Eve wondered, outrun the speed of light? "Everyone check your step," she called out. Her hands were encompassed by orbs of electricity. "I'll try not hit you. Just be ready to jump... now!" A fraction of a moment of silence preceded a thunderous boom. Two bright blue, serpent-shaped flows each crackling with power, spiraled at immense speeds down the tunnel's walls, ceiling and floor, dancing around Unca's position before screeching onward to infect every surface with an electrical charge. The sticky goop Suhov had spread to try slow them disintegrated as the serpents sped on, clearing the path for the others even if Arcadia and her crew had figured to bring rubber soles. Eve was betting that at least one of them hadn't. As the serpents spiraled faster and flooded the tunnel they almost seemed to rise from the ground, displaying fangs of lightning and hissing with air-tearing volume. Techs |

The clang of metal on metal reverberated inside Illya's skull as his armoured feet pounded down the metal tunnel. Given that the Marines had some sort of electrical based weapon on their side, this was going to be a rather big problem unless of course Arcadia had the forethought to design the tunnel to be as non-conductive as possible but given their current situation, it did not seem like the Shichibukai was as smart in base design or as prepared as he had expected. Perhaps that was her weakness or something. Good at making weapons of mass destruction, terrible at making bases of operation and planing and making escape routes. Which was rather unfortunate due to the circumstances that they found themselves in. Trapped inside a narrow tunnel with a Phoenix user and lightning generating weapon user and who knew what else. Based on the condition that Mac was left with and Bobby's death, whatever the others could do, it was rather deadly and he would need to be careful if he was going to bring himself and Arcadia alive out of this. "You know, maybe making the escape tunnels not be a single winding path in which you could be easily followed would have been a better idea. Plus, why do you care what happens to the island? If we can collapse this island so that we can escape, then we should do it." the pirate said as he kept an eye on the things behind them. With only Mac left behind, it was doubtful that the Marines would be inconvenienced for any significant amount of time. The doctor only barely paid attention to what Arcadia was talking about, something about a robo ship or something, as he kept one eye peeled for whatever attack would come their way. And it did not take long for the first attack to show up. Glancing back, the one armed man saw light that did not look like the hallway light, having a bluish tinge to it and had a pretty good idea of what it could be. "Lightning incoming!" he called out, his voice drowned out by a loud boom, and leapt into the air moments before the floor underneath turned blue with electricity. Illya knew that his devil fruit, especially in his current form, would protect him from the heat generated by the lightning but he was not sure if it would protect him from the electrical stimulation and given that his armour was conductive, it was probably not a good idea to find out just what his body could withstand. Granted that his gloves were insulated but with so much lightning all around him, it was doubtful that it would do him any good. As such, remaining in the air was as best as he could do to minimize the damage that he would attain from the fight. If they had any hope of escape, he would need to deal with the lightning user first as they posed the biggest threat, aside from Argos, who had yet to come after them, something that the pirate was thankful for. At the height of his leap, the inventor pushed off the air to keep himself in the air before firing off two dark red beams, one from each eye and capable of melting titanium, towards where the lightning had originated from, the entire leap and firing off the beams all in the matter of moments. Hopefully whoever had fired off the lightning still remained in the same space and had not immediately moved to a different place and hopefully the beam would have enough power to melt through whatever defenses the Marine could put up in place. If there were not defenses, then it would have been amazing if his beam would manage to blast through the lightning user and take them out of the fight. The doctor did not hold his breath on that account. At the very least, the beam would prove a momentary distraction for the enemy. Landing back on the ground, the one armed man glanced back at the rest of group, seeing a man appear out of the ceiling only to direct an attack towards Missy. While it was likely that the female could handle herself, it did not hurt to help. Hoisting his spear, the martial artist activated his body's powers to give him a burst of speed before leaping at the man, the seastone spear head leading the way. Notes

Raine followed up close behind William with an attack of her own. He couldn’t help but grin a little bit at their perfect synchronization. It was almost the same attack as the one they used against the Don in Sicilie, though this time was much less calculated. The doctor hadn’t missed the fact that she used one of her poisons before delivering her strike either. He wondered which one it was. If only this had gone as smoothly as the Don’s execution. For various reasons described before, William was determined to end Mac’s life once and for all. That’s what the decapitation attempt was for. For a moment after Will released his attack at the most efficient range he could muster, he thought it had worked. Mac’s head parted with his body just a tiny bit, enough for Will’s vulture keen eyes to see it, and then the flow of golden fluid covered the wound. Before William knew it, Mac’s head found its place on his neck again. He was going to make another attempt right then, but Mac punched him savagely in the chest and pushed him aside in a wild motion that was no doubt generated by the immense pain he was in. Feeling the improvised punch land on his chest only convinced him further that this man was in grave need of being put down, but it also informed Will that while Mac’s body is busy with regenerating, his reactions aren’t nearly as good as usual. He needed a cleaner opportunity to strike a better cleaner blow, so he let the hit carry him backwards without using his wings to stop. He needed to think for a second. If someone could regenerate from almost-decapitation and from a blow to the heart laced with poison, it didn’t leave much room for further measures, apart from binding him and slaughtering him like an animal. For the doctor, it was one of those moments when he felt like he should know the solution right off the bat, but it was just not coming to him. He was at a loss at what to do. That was when he heard the cypher pole agents commenting on what was happening. There they stood, watching the man suffer like they were in a video-den-den theater, enjoying a movie. Bertrand was not one to judge, given his sometimes cruel prankster pass times, like that one time he “accidentally” dropped one of his feathers in the toilet and left it for Mortimer to clean, but this was too heartless even for him. Still, there was information to be learned in Henan’s words, and Argos seemed to have a better plan than to just attack Mac with all they’ve got. He chose Will to assist him, no doubt because he noticed that Will had been the closest to delivering a finishing blow. Will loathed to be separated from his crewmates on such a dangerous mission, even for a little while, but he supposed he can’t have his cake and eat it too, so he settled for granting Mac the gift of mercy first, then helping his crewmates out later. Before they went on their way though, he had something to tell them. There wasn’t a lot of time, so he spoke to Raine and kept it brief: "I would take down Missy first if I were you. I can’t elaborate, but if my hunch is correct, she would very probably give you a shot at Arcadia herself." William wasn’t sure about this at all, but Missy had clearly needed Arcadia to assist her in her fight with him before, and she was also protecting her from most attacks that came her way. Suddenly, Mac was thrown in William’s direction, and his expectations about Argos having an actual plan were shattered as the guy asked him to just find a weakness. The only thing that came to mind as the almost-corpse Mac was flung towards him was to buy some time, and so he did. A torrent of almost invisible feathers flashed towards Mac’s body, hanging him in mid air for a moment as it tore through his flesh. The only useful thing that Will knew about this regeneration is that it kept the brain too busy to do much else in the way of fighting. Whatever poison Raine had injected was also preventing the wounds from closing as quickly, so Will continued exploiting this by firing feathers at the man for a moment, until it hit him. The brain… if there was one vital organ that would be responsible for orchestrating this weird brand of regeneration, it would be the brain. The doctor, giddy with his discovery, rushed forward towards the opponent, dropping one of his swords and drawing his shotgun. Mac, still exhausted from having to regenerate from so many wounds at once, only managed to wildly punch at him one more time, but Will had the presence of mind to block it with the flat of his remaining blade before putting the shotgun to the muscular man’s head, then firing immediately, and repeatedly. If he succeeded in destroying enough of this guy’s brain, he was confident that he would put an end to him. |

Feeling her hand plunge into meaty flesh before retracting it Raine was certain that her attack had hit home, at least managing to reach the man's heart before she removed it and pushed herself away from Mac's hulking form. Almost as if her were nothing more than a fleshy punching bag, the man had taken all of their attacks head on without even trying to dodge it seemed. Even after all of their attacks it seemed as though nothing had happened though even a direct slice to the neck not being enough to kill him on the spot. Instead from his body he just oozed something golden. "What in the hell..." She commented while looking down to her right hand. There didn't seem to be a spot of blood on her gauntlet, instead it was just more of this golden crap. She flicked her hand to the side in order to remove it, most of it coming off but the gunk seemed to stick a=oddly enough. Whatever it was it was probably the work of Arcadia and definitely made their job of putting him down in an instant that much more difficult. They needed a new plan. Someone would have to stay and make sure Mac didn't come after them. It seemed the CP9 agents had managed to move into action before she got the chance to issue an order though. Thank goodness too, it made them look like they were actually competent enough to lead a mission like this despite how much things had gone horribly wrong so far. And like that everyone was moving into action once again like a well oiled machine. This was the kind of stuff she was used to and hopefully would be able to whip some of the slackers in the Jacks into shape to where they would move like this. Standing aside as Eve sent electricity along all of the surfaces of the tunnel Raine would wait just a moment before dashing off behind it as she wasn't too fond of being electrocuted. One of the Cipher Pol members had already moved ahead of her and seemingly vanished while Uncarayne used his usual methods of scaling the walls with his devil fruit abilities. "Try not to take too long Salty. This guy is already on his last leg." She called back just before taking off. Even if he didn't die it was pretty much clear to everyone in their party that the fighter known as Mac was practically already dead by this point and all of those strike took a hefty toll on him. More than anything else it seemed like he wasn't even trying to fight back and was just remaining focused on serving as a wall that needed to be demolished for their group to pass. Moving along now she could see that Unca was engaging one of her guards while another one who was covered in bandages and wielding a spear had moved into the air and had fired something back towards the marine. Odd red rays of light that moved past her with blinding speed. N matter, her job here was not baby sitting a marine. Besides, the lightning logia user seemed rather capable on her own. If she couldn't manage this much then she wouldn't have been brought along for such a mission. That was the opinion of the huntress anyway. Unfortunately it seemed that she would have to look out for someone after all. That Uncarayne had gone and gotten himself into a position to be attacked by the bandaged man as well as the one that Raine assumed to be Missy. She was carrying guns after all. It seemed that she would serve to be priority target number one in this case and that was fine, taking out the support fire that made their battle earlier such a hassle seemed smart. Using the Soru skill Raine would near instantly move into position, now standing in front of Illya in a spot in which to protect Uncarayne from the spear. Hopefully her decision would not be in vain and they could land a critical strike on Missy. As she got in place her armored hands would move into position to grab the spear with all of her might and the clashing of the two would produce an audible clang of metal upon metal along with a powerful gust as their might collided. Still, the zoan user was a slightly stronger than her in his current state and she would find herself being pushed back, boots scraping against the floor before coming to a stop. It was fine, the end goal was to cover her ally after all. "You're pretty strong. Unfortunately, you're not my prey for the time being." The woman licked her lips, her bloodlst starting to kick in upon being surrounded by such powerful enemies. It had been a while since she had gotten a rush like this and while that Jacob robot or whatever from earlier had proven to be rather sturdy it just did not compare to this moment in the slightest. "Nothing personal." Her hair would suddenly spring to life now forming three limbs two of which had become legs while the other would become a spiked fist, the spikes coming from the sharp iron braids that the woman kept in her hair that also housed poison in them. Still holding on to his spear she hoped to force him in to a decision of holding on to it and not being able to move or abandoning it for the sake of safety. With the two hair legs lifted above her the woman began to manipulate them both to lash out furiously and send down a barrage of shockwaves down on the man in order to keep him occupied as well as deal some considerable damage. The fist on the other hand would ignore Illya entirely, instead it would shoot out towards Missy at bullet like speeds in order to strike the woman with a crushing blow along side Uncarayne's own attack. For the time being Raine would serve to not only put out some heavy suppression fire on Illya but also assist her ally with some more direct means of assault on the target. techs

Part of Mac's head was missing. Well not technically missing, it was more dangling off the side of his head. For most people, having the oppositions left frontal lobe detached from the rest of the brain was an overwhelming victory. Unfortunately, that wasn't what was going on here. "You know, having your brain blown out hurts a lot less than I expected. Though that may just be the painkillers." Mac's voice sounded strained, it was definitely coarser, slower and more slurred than it had been during the previous conflict. The golden blood had latched onto the missing parts of the brain, not sewing it back together but merely creating a bond of sorts between them. Frankly it looked disgusting. "What is wrong with you?" Argos quickly scanned all of the man's wounds, Raine's anti-clotting drug was definitely helping in determining where the body was straining the most to heal. "Ok, it seems to be the weakest around the chest and torso area, but only the front side for some reason… What did Arcadia do to you? I haven't seen anything this strange since that island with the creepy mechanical dolls. Maybe if we-" Mac had decided the best way to stop Argos from talking was to roundhouse kick the phoenix man. The strike was blocked by the agent's arms despite the force of the kick shifting him backwards along the metal. "It'd be fantastic if you guys didn't talk about my weaknesses and all, it's already a two on one situation. Have some mercy please, you're knights of justice or whatever you guys think of yourselves as." Mac stepped backwards, creating some space between himself and Argos, whilst looking at Will as well. There was something off about the white haired man, everything about him seemed slower and more sluggish that before. Though, having a chunk blown out of your brain probably did that to everyone. Mac then dashed, almost in a dazed like stance. It wasn't a straight forward strike either, it was more zig-zag like the man was deciding between hitting Argos and Will. In the end, the decision was to quickly turn onto Will in the split second that Argos was preparing himself for a counter-attack. "Hey, I'm not sure what your name is but let's get to know each other. Your logic wasn't bad either, the brain makes everything that the body makes work after all. Unfortunately my body doesn't make this, it just facilitates it. Pretty much you sell your soul to the devil so you can become one yourself or something poetic like that, I've never been one to make good analogies." The boxer punched with an eerie smile, covered in golden blood.
"I'll tell you what, next time you can design this island and all the escape paths. I was twelve when I built this place, it seemed like a good idea at the time." Arcadia didn't seem very happy to have Illya criticize her life choices, you build one slightly crappy escape system and you're suddenly bad at everything. It's almost as though everything else didn't matter. Well that was all well and good until Henan decided to pull the curious strike against the Shichibukai's neck. Like that, Arcadia's self-defence kicked in. A liquid sheet of metal formed around where the knife was going in, like a snake, and deflected the sharp edge but the strength of the man was still enough to cause the girl to fly into the nearest wall. As Henan morphed back into his normal height, before anyone could react to the presence of the agent amongst them, Uncarayne and Eve had decided to grace them with their presence. The only person seriously hit by the electricity was Missy, Arcadia had been protected by the metal coating acting as a Faraday Cage, Rhythm was pretty much floating as normal and Henan was quick enough to evade the attack through reflexes. Whilst Missy was perceptive enough to notice the attack coming she didn't have enough ability to jump to evade the strike as Uncarayne had her in an awful positioning situation. All she could do was to press a button on her left wrist, causing a mask to open up and cover her head. The shock impact caused her whole body to jolt, charring her skin slightly. The girl groaned, this was not a pleasant experience in the slightest. The mask protected her brain and luckily, though the voltage was high, the amps were not enough to pierce through her heart due to large amount of batteries on the markswoman's person acting like resistors and capacitors. "You lot are too much." Missy didn't sound too happy, her voice was strained and slightly pained. "No gunpowder, fine, I've got something better that your friend gave me." The girl pulled out a gun that was glowing. "This is battery powered, luckily sparkplug charged it up for me. What's the capacity on now? 467 per cent? Not bad, didn't even know it could get that high. This should be fun." The girl pressed the trigger, with that a huge burst of energy exploded from the gun, disintegrating the gun while it was it. The beam collided with Uncarayne's pillar, a small shockwave spreading through the closed tunnel environment. It was a really good thing this place was made of Legendary Material. The energy easily overpowered the pillar and happily made its way towards a certain marine who liked to pretend to be roof tile. There was nothing wrong with the target Raine had chosen for her hair fists, it was rather intuitive to try and take out Missy after all. The plan had been pretty obvious all day, take down the weakest link and keep working from there. Unfortunately, Rhythm wasn't a fan of that strategy. The green haired woman dashed over above the hair fist and slammed her foot down, pinning the extra limb of Raine onto the ground. "Nice try." Rhythm smiled, speaking for probably only the second or third time today. Talking wasn't a big part of this girl's lifestyle, but who are you to judge? Maybe she just enjoyed being quiet, maybe it was an elaborate ruse to mess with people. Who knew (other than me but I write this shit). Rhythm had only managed to stop the attack on Missy, Illya would have to deal with everything else by himself but he was certainly capable enough of that. The dancer had already made up her mind to help Illya fight, pretty much only because that was the only way they could get anywhere fast. The dancer glanced at Raine and smiled, it was probably a good idea to move this white haired lady away from the Missy/Arcadia side and more to the Illya side of the tunnel. The best way to do that was probably by force. Without hesitating, Rhythm used Soru to quickly move into a desirable position and kicked, forcing Raine backwards straight into a wall near where a certain ball of electricity in human form was moving. Rhythm followed up the kick with another one straight at the white haired woman's head. |

A hand landed on his shoulder as his hammers came crashing down towards Missy - he didn't need to turn his head to hear Eve's voice. Even as low as it was, as much as the noise around him blurred her words out, the tone was clear. Resolution and strength and determination - and then her hand lifted and flashed bright blinding blue-white, crackling. He jumped when she shouted to, and twin coils of electricity blew past him to fly down the tunnel, seeking out Arcadia's form and illuminating the tunnel in stark light as they went. He was in mid-air, on course with Missy, and suddenly everything happened at once, in a blur. Arcadia's new companion - Suhov? Suhov, he decided - leapt, firing dark-red beams - almost black, really, in the contrast with Eve's lightning at the apex of the leap, then charging out with a spear for Uncarayne, too fast and too near to dodge - but then there was another flare of white beside him, blood-stained and sharp - Raine, he thought, grabbing the spear only to be driven backwards by the power behind its thrust - and then suddenly his entire vicinity was hair, lashing out against Suhov and striking down at Missy simultaneously - There was a loud, ringing clang, and Uncarayne landed on the tunnel floor, skidding a little ways backward. His eyes were wide and his blood was pounding in his ears; if Eve had not been there, if Raine had not come to his rescue, he would have been dead three times over in the time it had taken him to leap from the ceiling towards Missy. Not that Missy had taken much damage either, if at all; she had put on a helmet that had protected her against Eve's lightning and then fired, another beam that overpowered his shockwave and dissipated its force out in a circle before punching out the other end in his direction. There was just no time to think - he was running on instinct and impulse and reflex, now, and what little part of his mind was still saving space to think about things was largely thinking: Oh no! and being largely ignored by every other part of him. Beam incoming, he darted back and threw up a wall in his way. Another wall, and another - and the beam simply tore through his walls and into him, catching him in the shoulder and sending him spinning back. That saved him, throwing him out of the course of the beam and into the wall, and the walls burst into flame as the energy contacted them. He flattened onto the wall as the flame leapt from the remains of his wooden walls onto the gases still lingering in the tunnel, but he had no breath to shout a warning with as all the gas exploded in a brilliant orange-red burst. The heat and pressure blew past him a moment later, and then came the smoke, thick and dark. He hoped Raine and Eve would be safe. It was a mere purchase of time, anyway. He stayed in position, catching his breath, and then popped out from the wall, swinging his hammer thoughtfully. Okay. Okay. He could do this. He built another wall, positioning it upright. He built a small lean-to behind it, nothing more than three walls and a ceiling, propping the first wall against it. It would be thick enough, big enough, he hoped. Maybe even forceful enough. He braced his good shoulder against the wood, then pushed, picking up speed and force, driving the whole thing forwards into the melee. He would probably run into Missy first, he thought, and gripped his hammer tighter. The first of Arcadia's group who broke through his wood would be sure to get a hammer to their face!

No matter how much they threw their way, Arcadia seemed to have something to sandbag them with. The chips and cracks were starting to appear, but it would take one hell of a sledge to truly knock through. But, naturally, the same applied when the tables were turned. As the lightning blast faded and a few stray arcs flickered around the mouth of the tunnel, it was met in kind by a pair of searing beams that could probably scorch away flesh and melt bone. Eve met their burning light with a cold scowl, and was only able to lift herself from her crouching position before the beams sliced through her body like a sword through wet cardboard. The two halves of her body shifted apart, each taking a step back as if they were about to fall. But there was no blood. There was no burnt skin or blackened bone. Where there should have been innards spilling out onto the ground there was instead only a faint aqua light. Buzzing filled the air, before Eve's eyes snapped open. Her body ceased to drift and instead began to pull, like a pair of magnets, towards each other. Threads of lightning started to stitch the two halves back together, sealing up the gaping divide as if it had never been. In seconds the job was done seamlessly and the glow faded. Eve flexed her neck, and the muscles, good as new, popped and cracked as proof of their survival. "Not good enough, assholes," she said. If this was to work, Eve and co. needed a better approach. Brute force wasn't quite cutting it, and Arcadia had her own fair share of punches to throw back at them. If they could just thin them out some more... And perhaps without even realizing it, Unca had provided a solution once again. Even if his makeshift walls didn't provide a great defense against incoming attacks, they did provide visual cover. The tunnel was so narrow Eve was invisible to all those beyond the wooden barrier Unca was utilizing as a battering ram. More so than that though, the walls and floors, even the ceiling, were all metal. Eve blinked and stared at Unca's back. Countless memories of him adhering to and travelling along surfaces flooded her brain and gave her a delicious idea. It was an excellent chance to score another take down. So, Eve broke into a sprint, scooped up her rifle and before reaching Unca dived headfirst at the metallic floor. Rather than plant herself face first, her body gave off its distinctive glow and melted into the static surface. The experience was not quite like swimming, bu more like flying. Eve could go in any direction so long as the metal flowed, a pathway that hurried her along wherever she wished to go on air currents of energy. With a jolt of speed, Eve flung herself along the passageway, as little more than a few rogue sparks along the floor, underneath and past Unca's barrier then beyond Missy's feet. Surprise, bitch, Eve thought as she popped out the floor behind Missy like some demon of the storm, a crackling and thrumming figure... that also carried a large gun. No sooner was Eve throwing herself out the floor was she also pushing her rifle at Missy's chest, the bayonet gleaming and calling for blood. It rose in an upwards angle, aiming to impale and lift the girl off the ground. The cartridge was full, fully loaded before Eve had even gotten close. And, as the gun reached its peak and pointed upwards to the sky beyond the tunnel, she pulled the trigger again and again, her finger a blur as she pumped one ball of lead after another. The gunshots, each a cacophonous bang! merged into a single explosive sound. Soon the barrel was empty and further clicks of the trigger produced nothing. It was only then that Eve let the rifle fall back down. Techs
