Illya tried very hard to keep a scowl from his face at the couch man's words. The pirate knew that showing emotion could spell doom in certain instances and while showing emotion here wouldn't be that doom worthy, he doubted that Arcadia would appreciate him yelling and maybe even getting in a fist fight with that man. There was also the possibility that her other cronies would join in on the fight as well and he did not particularly care to be outnumbered. As such, the inventor's face was a mask of calm as he listened to the Shichibukai's reply. "You can call it whatever you like, though courage is often foolish, but that does not change that reality of the situation nor the reality of the offer." the doctor replied, noting that the people that Arcadia had previously pointed out where beginning to move, two of them moving towards the elevator. "It seems that someone got very lucky." the one armed man quipped, seeing a crowd of people scrambling around on the ground around one of the machines, attempting to scrounge up whatever coins they could. "It would be fairly simple to get out of the building through the front though there would be a very high death rate amongst the civilians and it would attract the attention of people much stronger than there currently are in the area. So it's really not a matter of possibility but a matter of whether or not you are fine with the blood of innocents on your hands. If we take the tunnel, the civilian death toll will certainly remain though it would be significantly less than going through the front door. After all, I doubt that these men will flinch at killing innocents if they have a shot at you." Illya replied with a faint smile. He had no problem with going either way, though he certainly was not a very big fan of trudging through potentially flooded tunnels. Unfortunately, it was better to try his hand at evaporating the water in the escape tunnels rather than drawing all that attention to the escape, potentially drawing the presence of admirals to the island. Murdering hundreds of civilians tended to do that and the pirate was sure that he was not strong enough to take on an admiral. Not yet. "If we were not aware of the ramifications and ready to accept them, we would not be here. Plus considering that we were outlaws, what's more treason here and there." the inventor replied. He had certainly considered all the consequences and ramifications of this decision and found that they were acceptable for the gain that this agreement could bring. As for the Igloo, he was not entirely sure. The man tended to do whatever he wanted without regard of the consequences and more than likely, this was the case with this agreement as well. With his agreement, the doctor was not entirely sure what the protocol was on shaking hands. Should he extend his hand and hope that Arcadia reciprocated? That would certainly be awkward if she did not. So it was probably better to leave his hands where they were, intertwined on his stomach. "I assume that there is a way of draining the tunnels if they are indeed flooded." the one armed man asked innocently. After all, this was supposed to be one of the greatest inventors of this age and if she forgot to plan for such an eventuality, then he was not sure how much faith he could put in that title. |

"I’ve been known to throw the dice for fun, but it’s not the most healthy habit for anyone who wants to keep their money in their pockets, so the only gambling I do now is with my sword." William responded to Raine as they walked into the casino. The large hall of the casino was lively, as one would expect from such an establishment. Yet, the navigator's attention wasn't to the attractions. He looked around to locate the elevator first. "This Arcadia person should have something like an office at the top floor right? That's where I'd put my office if I owned this place. Let's go up and meet her. We can try some of these games later." As his eye fell on the elevator however, he glimpsed it closing behind someone... someone who seemed incredibly familiar, or so William thought. For a moment there, he could have sworn he saw Uncarayne's goggles. Hmm... Why would Uncarayne be here? Maybe I just miss that cheerful goofball. Come to think of it, I didn't get to pass the greetings of that Eve person to him yet. It would be pretty embarassing if they met again before I could do it.... Meh... I'll just call him using the ship's den den after we finish up here. Something weird caught William's attention as he walked towards the elevator. There was an entire row of slot machines surrounded with a crowd of people collecting coins. He didn't see it as first since it was blocked from view by other attractions, but now that he was looking at it, it was definitely weird. He felt his heart skip a beat at the thought of some unexpected adventure coming their way, and his hand brushed against the hilt of one of his rapiers ever so lightly as if by reflex. "Raine, when is the last time you saw a row of slot machines all deliver a jackpot at the same time? I smell something suspicious going on here." Nonetheless, William waited for the elevator patiently, while admiring the scenery before him. All these people seemed to have no idea that whatever small earnings they made here today would be lost in the next casino they visit, and then the next one will likely spell their bankrupcy. He couldn't wait to start a business here. This island seemed like a great place for a temporary headquarters until they decide to head to the new world. As he looked on, a fight broke next to one of the Blackjack tables nearby, and soon everyone's attention was turned there. William's ears pricked at the word "bounty" being thrown time and time again. If this arrogant - and loud - pirate were to be belived, he had a fifty million bounty. That would probably earn the doctor enough money to be even surer that his business proposal to Arcadia would be accepted, but the risk was too big with so many bystanders present, so the good hearted doctor resigned to not risking anyone's life at the moment. He had a purpose in this building besides, and this suspicious malfunction of the slot machines promised something juicy going on upstairs, so he just continued waiting on the lift until it came, and then stepped inside and pressed the button for the highest floor number he found besides the roof. "The top floor is definitely the best choice in order to avoid all of the rabble that clustered down here." She responded to William as they cut through the crowd. Seeing as Arcadia was the one in charge here she figured William would want to meet her for the opportunity to make a bit of money and Raine honestly was interested in meeting the ex pirate as well. While she would not be allowed to touch the woman still wanted to try to gauge her strength from a face to face perspective. Unfortunately, chances were they wouldn't even get that far. It's not like they would just allow anyone in to see her just because they felt themselves to be important and of course there was a very high chance that she just wouldn't be interested in all. In short, she didn't have high hopes for this idea. "Well, I don't frequent establishments such as these though the chances of that happening are somewhere between slim and none." She looked on at the scene, people fighting each other over the coins that were rolling across the floor and making this whole experience even more headache inducing than it was before. Still, she couldn't deny that there was something odd about it, but then again maybe someone who worked here just had an odd sense of humor and enjoyed watching people get into fist fights over some shiny coins. Still, she doubted it had much of anything to do with them and as such didn't really care for giving it more attention than necessary in the same way that William was. Her eyes were more focused on catching the elevator before them as she continued to force her way through people who seemed to also be heading in that direction. The one thing that did catch her attention was the sound of the word bounty getting tossed around left and right by some guy over by one of the tables. He apparently had a decent bounty although she had never heard his name, but the woman couldn't be expected to remember the title of every joe shmoe who thought that they were a special snowflake. By the way he spoke though he seemed to be making the whole thing up in order to appear stronger than he truly was. If he was still down here causing problems once they got back from the top floor then she'd consider doing something about him, but the woman wasn't too interested in fighting weaklings even if they were worth a large sum of beli. That was more Will's thing anyway. "Anyway, let's get going." |

"Yeah, sure. Getting rid of the water wouldn't be too much of a problem. It might be a little dangerous, especially if there's a bit of pressure in there, but it's definitely not impossible." Arcadia punched a few buttons on her keyboard, pulling up a closer image of Eve and Uncarayne performing something that probably wasn't legal. "What are they doing? Wait… No. Come on. Fuck. You've have got to be kidding me!" As Arcadia was throwing a hissy fit, the lights went out along with all the electronics in the room. The darkness stayed in the air for a few moments before the lights slowly lit back up. "What the fuck was that?" "Those idiots straight up slaughtered the main generator. I underestimated them, I thought they'd do something like just break through the front door like in a normal video game or something. Who even told them the generator was in there? I thought I kept the building plans secret. Probably that old man, whatever. Bobby, give me a status check on what's working and what's not." "Uhhh… Lights work. Surveillance Cameras don't work. Air Conditioning is dead as well as the elevators. Oh hey, slot machines still work. Why'd you prioritize them over the elevators." "Oh, they just feed off of the life force of people who use them, they're not actually connected to the grid. What's the status of Level -1?" "Umm… It's still up." "Good. Mac, put the building in lockdown." "Yes Co- wait why the fuck would we do that when the enemy is inside the building? Not sure about you but locking us in here with them is not a good thing." "I bet you a million beli that there are marines going through the front door right now. With the elevators down as well we have to go through the stairs, the more bodies the marines have on the stairs the lower our chances of getting out. If we lockdown the building we can probably hunt down the CP9 bastards and whatever important marines there are before making a break for it through the underground passage. Especially when we have a certain asset on our hands." Arcadia threw a baby den den mushi to Illya. "The lockdown system is one of our few assets that run off of the grid." Mac sighed, walking up to a cabinet next to the door and opening it to reveal a large lever hidden behind an array of suits. A large rumbling sound filled the room, as the windows were slowly covered by a dark green liquid substance, hardening as it went. "Don't try and break the walls, they've been coated from the outside with liquid seastone. Took me three months to make a form of seastone that could be stored as a liquid but when exposed to enough oxygen it hardens. It'll eventually just crumble away and disappear, but that's some time away. I've installed containers of these all around the building, best of all they're all opened by sending a signal via den den. No electricity required. We're locked in now, so Mr. Suhov, show us what you've got. Go down the right stairwell, that's the last place we saw the CP9 agents. I'm sure you'll find them there. We'll be in touch once we deal with those dumb marines who think they can mess with my stuff and get away with it." "How many marines got through before they initiated the lockdown? C'mon, tell me. Fuck me, why didn't our scouting report tell us she'd made something like this?" Argos was yelling at his den den, his cool demeanour had completely faded away. The plan was supposed to be create a diversion (Eve and Uncarayne) and then misdirect Arcadia's efforts to the first floor which was being raided by some marines that Pan-chan had given them command over. Whilst that was going on, Henan and himself would go in and close the case. Instead, they were stuck with this curveball. "Twenty, maybe thirty… Ok. Final number is thirty-two. Mostly ensigns, a few Lieutenants and one Captain. Everyone else is stuck outside, including the majority of the heavy weaponry. Can't you break us out?" "Maybe, what material is it?" "Appears to be seastone." Argos's heart dropped. "Sorry, everyone we have on the inside can't help you there. Just stand by and send your men to monitor the coastline. I wouldn't put it past her to have an escape planned." "Roger." Argos punched the nearest pillar, completely shattering it. This was not supposed to happen, this was not supposed to happen at all. Usually assassinations were an easy task, even in their enemies territory. The only minor problem was that their enemy was a genius inventor who brought a whole new meaning to home court advantage. "Don't lose your head, we still have the upper hand here." Henan sheathed his knife and looked at his partner. "In what way do we have the upper hand?" "Well I'm still here, and so are you. So since you're having an existential crisis or some shit like that, I'm assuming command. I'm going to go meet up with those two marines, you go block the stairwell. I'll have the marines take the left one and we have all our bases covered. Ok? Good." With that, Henan ran off. Argos exhaled, he didn't want to admit it but Henan was still right. The agent walked up to the stairwell and stood there. Anyone who wanted to get through would have to break through him. The generator was beyond destroyed, debris and sparks flew through the air. Some would call it 'overkill', others would call it 'definitely overkill'. Either way, the machine was dead. "Good job, very impressive." A voice came from outside the generator room. "How about you come out so I can thank you personally for destroying my property." Yup, Arcadia was rather upset over this entire incident. The entire crew that Illya had been talking to earlier had surrounded the entrance to the generator room, making sure to leave no exists uncovered. All the members ready for combat, glaring down the door. "I've already sent someone to deal with your friends on the first floor so don't be expecting too much help now." The first floor was in panic mode, again. The few marines that had gotten through before the lockdown were trying to figure out what their new instructions should be. It didn't really help their cause when the people around them were making an uproar over the broken elevators and the general lack of an exit. "Ok men! I've received instructions from the people in charge of the operation. Head to the left stairwell and defend that!" Captain Lawson barked at the marines, having them stand in line whilst all manner of small scuffles began to occur around them. "Try and stay together, be prepared for anything. This place is like a house of surprises, let it catch you off guard and you'll be done." <Target Engaged> A multitude of missiles flew through the air, crashing into the ground around the marines. Emerging from the smoke that had been created was a large metal… human? It looked like a human, except for the fact it was made of metal from head to toe. There were large compartments, similar to that of a cyborg, protruding from various places where joints and femurs should be. "Christ, what the fuck is that. We aren't prepared for this." Bullets flew through the air, clanking off of the body of the budget Terminator. <Eliminate People Attacking Sister. Engaging Database. SELECT TOP 5 Value FROM Threats WHERE Threats.Location = 'Hall Building Casino'> The machine-man ran a query, scanning the room for the top 5 people threat wise (based on an advanced algorithm Arcadia created that included anyone in the world who had a bounty, marine rank or threat ranking). <Russel Lawson, Raine Argose, William Salty, Dallas Waters, Penn Mann Eliminate> The machine man stood there, the sound of gears grinding hummed at a low tone. Then all at once, a series of directed missiles exploded from the chest, flying at the five targets named. |

"In other words, whaaaaaat?!!" yelled Uncarayne, boggling. "HEY!" he exclaimed, as Eve leapt lightly over the safety railing and vanished amidst the thick clouds of steam and smoke; Uncarayne could neither see nor hear her as she went down, but she'd definitely said she'd got a Devil Fruit just before she went off the rails! Exactly which Devil Fruit it was, was the question. The answer came a moment later, as Eve's outline appeared in blinding, crackling light that pierced the vapours between her and Uncarayne. Shadows were thrown, harsh and sharp and fast-flickering against the walls, and Uncarayne (who was by now very good at this kind of thing) threw himself quickly against the ground with his hands over his head in case of something going unexpectedly boom. ...seconds passed, and the crackling noise ceased along with the sensations of machines very rapidly grinding to a halt where they hadn't simply seized up and ceased outright. Uncarayne blinked and sat up, but found the room completely dark now apart from the tiny slit of light let in from underneath the door; from where he was, he couldn't see anything at all, and the only sound he could hear was his own breathing. "That was amazing!!" he exclaimed, bouncing to his feet and grasping for the rail to lean over it, calling downwards to wherever he presumed Eve to still be. "That was just simply bloody amazing! Where'd you learn to do that? - oh, wait -" He put out his hand and listened for the soft hiss of the Breath Dial as it released its gases into the air, then snapped his fingers. For a brief moment a fireball hung in the air, illuminating the room in a warmer glow than Eve had, and Uncarayne could see the damage she'd done to the generator. It was in awful, awful shape, and Uncarayne grinned as the darkness returned with the expiration of the small flame. He pulled out his baby den den mushi to report to Argos. "Hello, Argos? Uncarayne here - don't know if you've noticed, but we did the generator in! Hello? Hello?" He frowned - not that the den den mushi could see it in the darkness; Argos was probably on another call already. And so, for that matter, were they. There were voices coming from outside the door, waiting for them to come out and probably - almost certainly - get immediately embroiled in a fight. "And they know about Argos and Henan," groused Uncarayne to himself. Arcadia was definitely not as sweet or soft as she'd looked in the folders, which meant the men outside weren't going to be thanking them with tea and cakes either. He flattened himself against the door, wondering and hoping that a whole bunch of them were standing right up against it. "Pop Sloth!" he roared, putting all his considerable strength into the kick. The door exploded outwards, its hinges shattering as he kicked it right out of its place in the wall and into the people - or wall - opposite it. In the same movement Uncarayne flung himself over the safety rail, and he flattened himself against the walls right under it, grinning as he reached into his bandoleer and pulled his hammers out. This was going to be good.

The glow of the molten metal began to quickly fade as the dead generator hiccupped a few last ounces of power and sound before coming to a complete and silent standstill. The room was thick with the smell of ozone and plunged into darkness; Eve would have been blinded were it not for her ability to generate her own light in the form of a blue ball of energy circulating around her palm. It wasn't much, but provided sufficient illumination for her to make out the shape of her surroundings. And it was very much clear that the generator was utterly trashed, probably beyond repair. Had it been too much? The plan was to brute force it, but perhaps, Eve thought, she might be better trying to rein it in a little in future. Her head tilted back and she squinted upward. "Uh, you okay up the-" A cool smile appeared as she heard Unca alive and seemingly unharmed from her somewhat brazen display, and Eve gave a sigh of relief. "Yep, I got lucky and found myself a fruit. You and me, we're both a pair of hammers now." A unexpected but nonetheless comforting flame bloomed to life above her, momentarily beating back the blackness and illuminating Eve's handiwork for all to see. "It's not a position I ever figured I'd be in, and I'm still getting used to the whole deal," she said while rubbing at the back of her neck. "Only a few incidents so far." With the aid of Unca's fire, Eve aimed herself at the catwalk above. "I can't say it doesn't come with its benefits though!" A flash later and she was once again standing by Unca's side, peering at his new fangled gloves with curiosity. "Pretty nifty new setup you got going there yourself." Ideally, they would have had time to talk about it all further, but duty called. Or rather, they tried to call it and in doing so Eve's 'serious face' returned. "Generator's a pile of scrap, sir! It was an honor!" she tried to call down the line, though it wasn't entirely clear whether a connection had even been established. Could Arcadia have had some sort of jamming device in place? Possibly, but given the generator's current condition it didn't seem likely. More probable the agent was simply busy, which left Eve and Unca in a dubious position. With surveillance and systems kaput, Eve doubted there was much stopping either of them from just waltzing right up to the top floor to knock impolitely on Arcadia's door but the thought caused unease without securing authorisation first. At the same time, they needed to do something: undoubtedly somebody was on their way that very second to check on the generator and find out why it had shorted or, more accurately, been torn apart. Starting fights with Arcadia's staff was messy, a waste of time and more critically not a part of the mission. Less fuss the better seemed to be the mantra. What bothered Eve the most, however, was whether they would even be capable of remaining so subtle and if defeating a Shichibukai was even something they could dream of doing. Without the roar of the generator deafening her, it seemed clear that the seed of chaos had been sown throughout the building. It was faint, but Eve was certain she could pick up distant rumbling coming from below. Arcadia's security, perhaps, to make no mention of Arcadia herself. As far as the intelligence was concerned, she didn't seem to have any surprise Devil Fruit powers up her sleeve and as far as Shichibukai went, wasn't herself exceptionally strong. But that nagging fear in Eve's mind still repeated the same thing over and over: Arcadia was still a Shichibukai. Chosen preciously because of their power to trump all but the best of other pirate crews. Eve might have been the luckiest little snowflake of all and come into an immense power, but all that might mean nothing in the face of one such as Arcadia. The Goro Goro no Mi didn't make Eve herself stronger and it didn't mean she had perfect control over its vast potential. If and when Arcadia came knocking, it would still, surely, be a hell of a struggle to get her in a set of manacles. That moment came far sooner than expected and Eve's heart stopped in her chest at the sound of that devilishly young voice dripping with venom just beyond the confines of the door. Unca, bless him she thought, was oblivious to any of Eve's own worries and went into action straight away in knocking the whole door straight off its hinges. And beyond it the mistress of Las Arcadas herself stood. Cautiously, Eve's hand drifted to the zip of the bag on her back, her trusty rifle concealed within while her other brought up her own baby Den Den. "This is Eve," she spoke quietly into it. She didn't know whether the CP9 agents could hear her or not, but she had to at least try to let them know. "Target is here. Permission to engage?" The little snail was slipped back into her pocket and Eve stood, glaring at the vacant doorframe and the dangers that lay beyond. "Arcadia," she declared, body tensed almost painfully. "For supplying weapons to the enemies of the World Government, you've been stripped of the title of Shichibukai and are wanted: dead or alive." Though she tried to hide it, Eve was trembling just slightly as those gazes loomed at her. "...I'd recommend just giving up. I don't know what you're planning or what exactly you can do, but if I don't get the job done here, we both know they'll send someone far, far worse than me. The things you've been building and selling... those weapons... the Fleet Admiral isn't going to let you go free under any circumstances. Even with the war, maybe because of it, you're a priority target." Unconsciously, her hand had gripped at the guard rail and her breath came in heavier strokes. She didn't want to fight. Bandits? Nothing. Pirates? Trash to be swept away. Sea monsters? Tough, but nothing to lose sleep over. A Shichibukai? "...Maybe, though, there's a way you can get out of this. Work out a deal, agree to work for the Government properly as part of the Science Unit or something. You already took the title of 'dog' once when you signed the warlord contract, what's doing it again? Hell of a lot better than death, right?" techs |

Before Illya could ask why Arcadia was cursing up a storm, the entire room, and probably the entire building went dark before coming back on several moments later. In those view moments, the pirate almost instinctively grasped the spear by the table, his hand closing firmly around it. He was not entirely sure what happened but he was sure that it was nothing good. If he had to guess it was probably the signal to begin attack on the Shichibukai's stronghold. The female's explanation on what happened answered a few question and raised a few more. Such as why were the elevators not on the backup power grid? Surely it would be smart to have enough back up power to at least run the elevators up or down at least once. That was really the main question though perhaps the question as to why the generator room was so easily accessible, even if supposedly hidden. Granted that perhaps the two that broke in because they had some sort of devil fruit powers but shouldn't have someone as apparently smart as Arcadia realized that and taken preventative measures? But it wasn't like he could just ask these questions without making Arcadia look incompetent. However, following her comment on the lock down system, the inventor could not help himself. "You know, one would think that by having a dwelling on the top floor you would have more than two means of escape, especially if one can taken out relatively easily while the second could become a bottleneck just as easily. One would think that there would be a secret elevator of some sorts that did not run on the main power alone that could be used in case of an emergency such as this one. But what do I know." the doctor replied nonchalantly as he activated his powers, his hair darting out to catch the thrown den den mushi, his only hand still clutching the spear, before directing the hair to place the device into his jacket. At the very least there seemed to be some sort of defensive system in place that did not require the main power to run. So perhaps this Shichibukai was not a complete moron when it came to tactics. The one armed man watched curiously as the waste of space of a man went over to the cabinet before fiddling around in it. Suddenly there was rumbling sound around the room as some sort of liquid began covering the windows. Illya could not help but whistle softly as Arcadia explained just what the liquid was. It certainly was impressive, even if it did not have a good enough permanence, though if it became permanent, then it really would be a one use only defense. Perhaps there could be a way of developing some sort of chemical that could dissolve the seastone rather than let it go away on its own. There were certainly both advantages and disadvantages to both, but this was not the time nor the place to consider them. After all, the female was sending him to the right staircase to help stave off the arrival of the CP9 agents. While it was possible that the Shichibukai would use this to ditch him, which was rather unlikely since he was her ticket to a safe haven, him not going to deal with the CP9 would certainly come back and bite them in the ass, probably in the form of an ambush. As such, there really was nothing more to do but go to the right staircase, which he did. Reaching the staircase, the pirate opened the door and stepped through. Controlling his hair, the inventor brought about his seastone hair clip, slotting it into the spear and coiling the hair around the shaft to ensure that it would be secure as well as to allow him to throw the spear and recover it easily. He was as ready as he would ever be for CP9. |

It was a little weird how the highest available floor number on the elevator was only nineteen. This tower clearly held more floors than that. William figured he would try to find some other way to get further up after that nineteenth floor, so he pressed the button anyway. He was ready to brave the unknown of this tower and try his luck with Arcadia. So much so that the sound the elevator door made as it started closing gladdened him a bit. There was one complication however, or rather several consecutive complications. First the elevator door stopped right after it started closing, and a heartbeat after the lights went out for brief moment. The entire casino-floor grew silent for one moment, and then everyone started muttering in hushed voices right afterwards. The doctor instinctively stepped out of the lift. "Maybe the stairs would be better." he said to Raine as he did so. The light came back on quickly, but that still filled William with uneasiness. As he looked around now, there were even marines inside the building, which he hadn’t noticed before, being preoccupied with other thoughts. The doors seemed to have been locked as well. If there are more marines in here, then the one I saw earlier might very well be Uncarayne. There was someone indistinctly yelling about marines at another end of the casino, but William couldn’t see exactly where, and the chatter volume rose too quickly for him to pin point the location. He even saw two people nearby accusing each other of stealing chips, and the people near the marines were outright rioting. Panic was in the air, and it didn’t help that a pillar shattered somewhere in the distance, arousing some more. He couldn’t see if it was an accident, or provoked by someone, since by now, everyone was pretty much running in all directions, most of which were doing so for no paticularly compelling reason. "I think that we’ve walked into something very dangerous Raine. I don’t really mind the excitement, but I don’t like my plans being thrown off like this. And I think that there is a god chance Uncarayne is in trouble somewhere above. I glimpsed him taking the elevator earlier." Now that it came down to it, he wasn’t as sure that sacrificing all this time and restraining himself from hunting only not to even get an opportunity to do what he wants sat well with him, even the situation promised adventure in one way or another. Out of nowhere, the most dangerous development of all appeared in the form of a cyborg human-weapon. At first William didn't really notice it, but his attention was attracted to the explosion near the marines as he was trying to make sense of the previous moments. They were provoked by missiles, the last of which he caught a glimpse of before it impacted with the ground. Now the perpetrator was definitely visible to everyone as people were running away from him, and marines started firing at him. He looked like one would expect a cyborg to look like really, but his existence impressed William on a primal level for a moment, until reality kicked in as he heard his name called among what can only be its targets. William watched, still scattered of thought, indecisive on what to do next, whether to prioritize helping Uncarayne or defeating the machine. Before he could speak to Raine about it, the missiles coming towards them were launched. The swordsman didn’t even think now, he just acted. His eyes narrowed as concentrated on registering the most details about the attack, while his right hand drew one of his rapiers quickly and unleashed a massive shockwave in the air, hoping to hit all of the missiles coming towards him or Raine at the same time long before they reach them. As some of the missiles met with William’s air slash, they exploded in the air, screening them from view of the cyborg with smoke momentarily. William took that opportunity to change locations. "I’ll go help Unacarayne. Watch my back." he told Raine as he stated moving towards the stairs right away. He directed himself towards Argos, having noticed earlier that he stood out the most among those in the general area of a missile target. He pushed himself through the small crowd still trying to get through to the stairs even after the numerous explosions and poke to Argos in an urgent tone: "Which floor would Unacarayne O'Brien be in? I’m his crewmate William, captain of the Jacks. And don’t even bother playing dumb with me. We’re on the same side."

It appeared that the two of them were set to start making some progress on the business deal as they entered the enclosed space of the elevator and the doors began to close before coming to a grinding stop along with the fading of the lights, the entire casino being engulfed in darkness for only a split moment. The lights were back on in the blink of an eye though, a backup generator or something like that likely kicking in to pick up the slack of whatever happened.Regardless of the reasoning though it seemed that the elevator they were in had no intentions of going anywhere else now. Fortunate that they had just gotten inside as well, if they had actually gotten moving this would have been much more of a pain to deal with as she wasn't particularly keen on having to climb out of an elevator shaft. Grabbing the doors she pulled them open again so that the two of them could get back out on to the main floor. William mentioned using the stairs now and she simply began to follow without a word. There weren't any other options if they still had the intention of speaking to the Shichibukai that resided here. Still, something about that power surge irked her for a split moment. There hadn't been much time to dwell on flickering lights given the current situation. A quick glance across the room already telling a story of things that had changed in that moment they spent in the elevator. Now there were an alarming amount of marines out here in the casino, definitely more than there had been before and enough to raise some eyebrows. There was also the fact that all of the exits from the casino seemed to be shutdown? "trapped in a room full of greedy fools. Just my luck..." She muttered in a sarcastic tone as the room grew even more lively this time in the form of panicked shouts and screams as people began to argue with marines and attempt to force their way outside of the lock down. Of course there some people that just remained seated and playing away at the slots as if this were just another day. "Are you sure it was really him?" She questioned the man on seeing Uncarayne earlier. The guy normally wasn't too difficult to point out but this casino was packed full of low lives and she hadn't noticed him so there was the possibility that Will was mistaken on this. The odds of him being here after their last little adventure in Sicillie seemed slim in her mind, but now seeing all of these marines suddenly arrive as if deployed for some sort of big job along with the building getting shut down like this made her wonder more and more. She began to head towards the stairs but stopped in her tracks. Something bad was coming. A split second later there were the sounds of explosions, a sound that could not be mistaken really especially in a location like this. She lifted her arms to shield her face and eyes from the fire and smoke that burst out as bodies went scattering all over and people began to flee from the location of the attack as a figure cut through the smoke. A mechanical being, just what one would expect here considering Arcadia's history but it was strange that a fight was going on here. For now she simply observed the cyborg from a distance, not really opting to move in just yet. She had seen cyborgs in the past but was not accustomed to really fighting them or anything. Still it couldn't be too difficult if push came to shove. Her line of thought was interrupted as another string of rockets were set loose and this time aimed specifically for them. Yeah this thing was out for their heads for some reason or another. There had to be more to this than that but whatever first thing was first she'd let out some of that pent up frustration from before on this damn metal man. Much like Will she decided to first intercept the rockets with an attack of her own. "Rankyaku." She called aloud as a blade of air whipped out from her leg and struck the rockets as well, causing them to explode mid air and leaving the two of them unharmed. "Yeah, go for it. I'll take care of things here. This is nothing." It'd likely be faster for the bird man to make his way through this building anyway. For now she'd focus on whatever decided to make a bullseye out of them. She lifted up a single leg before kicking in the direction of the machine and firing a straight line piercing projectile towards it. In case he attempted to intercept it with weapons of his own the Rankyaku Sen would be a bit more difficult to target. "I'm no engineer or anything so I don't even know if you're human or not, but if you have something to say then it would be best to speak now before I get serious..."

"Shit, she's there already? Fuck that. I'm coming as fast as I can, you have permission to engage but be warned that her crew is dangerous." Henan's voice resonated through Eve's den den mushi before hanging up, the man was audibly out of breath. "Mmm, let me think about that extremely generous offer of yours," Arcadia responded as Mac intercepted the door that Uncarayne had kicked with a brutal punch that cracked the metal, "as tempting as that is I think I'll keep my independence. You know, you guys have an awfully high horse for a bunch of people who are spending billions of beli hunting down a 24 year old girl. I've fought for freedom and power my entire life, you're not the first person to threaten death and most of them were more intimidating that a portable battery." Arcadia looked at Eve, staring her in the eye. Fear. Good. "You know, Devil Fruits are an interesting thing. I still don't know how they work or why they even exist and I'm a genius. Though, they have some nifty interactions with stuff. You know, water, seastone. Though one thing that people rarely associate it with is another Devil Fruit. Get another one of those in your system and you're done. There's nothing quite like it." Arcadia pulled something out of her bag, a small grenade-like capsule. "So, this is filled with the juices of a ton of different used Devil Fruits. Perfectly harmless for a normal human being, they'll just get a bit wet. However, if you're a Devil Fruit user and you get any of that into your system you're done. Ingest it, inhale it, even if it gets in through your eyes or something. You're done." Arcadia smiled, pulling the pin from the grenade and throwing it in the room. "Let's stop the hiding and get to the real fun. Or, you know, you could just go down in a ball of fire or whatnot. I'd be down for that." "How the fuck do you know O'Brien is here? Better question, how the fuck do you know I know O'Brien?" Argos glanced at this William character, he knew who he was from a briefing Pan-chan had handed him but he didn't know why he was here. "If O'Brien told you, I swear to everything that I will remove his neck from his intestinal system from the rest of his body… Never mind that, we might actually need your help. Go through this floor to the other stairwell, this one is going to get bloody, and then go to the nineteenth floor. I bet that once you're up there you'll find the two." The CP9 agent shook his head, unbelievable. Even more outsourcing, he'd already had enough of that already. At least this individual was useable, money bought Bounty Hunters on a daily basis and the World Government did have seemingly endless wallets. Whatever, he was going to have to deal with the footsteps coming down the stairs anyway. "So is this your choice Suhov? You and Igloo want to go up against the World Government? Impressive, foolish, but impressive." Argos glared at Illya, there had been rumours that the dog of a dog of the World Government was poking it's nose around Las Arcadas. It was rather surprising that he'd already forged some sort of deal with Arcadia but that was just the nature of the situation. "You know what, let's cut a deal and save everyone some heartache. You go nab the girl and I turn I blind eye to this little rebellious phase you're going through." <Must Protect Sister Kill Loudmouth Female> Raine had caught the machines attention. Penn S. Mann was down for the count, so was the Dallas fella. Lawson had managed to avoid the brunt of the explosion but he was still in a bad state. William had obviously run off like a roadrunner so there was only one target left in the immediate vicinity to target. The Rankyaku pierce hit the metal body of the cyborg/robot, creating a small dent but not piercing through into the vital electronics inside. Spinning his head to face Raine, the pile of scrapmetal spoke with a very mechanical voice (as you'd expect from any robot). <I Am JACOB I Kill Bad People You Bad Person I Kill You HaHaHaHaHaHa> Arcadia had programmed some odd things into JACOB's system, there were a lot of references to popular culture as well but since the rest of the crew had gotten sick of JACOB's shit the girl had toned down that a little. JACOB scanned Raine, trying to figure out what weapons and possessions she had on her body. JACOB shrugged as well as an individual like him could, pointing his hand out facing the bounty hunter. His hand swiftly extended outwards, grabbing Raine by the throat and lifting her up in the air. Clenching tight, the fingers extended slightly until the whole neck was covered by a necklace of metal. <Fight Me 1 On 1 Noob> HaHaHa> |

The door had flown out with satisfactory force, but Uncarayne heard the loud bell-ring tone of the door connecting with something with force - and then the irregular, erratic clang as it fell down and settled onto the floor. Somebody on Arcadia's team, he thought, and tried to remember if the folder they'd been given had mentioned anything about Arcadia's associates. He couldn't remember if it had, but they should have expected her to have a crew... and even if she wasn't scary without her giant weapons around, you never knew about them. He wanted to caution Eve, he should have told her before he kicked the door out, but - Eve was standing right there, staring full in the face of Arcadia and her people. Uncarayne heard her voice, strung taut with barely-hidden fear, reading out Arcadia's rights, such as they were. It was, admittedly, not an option that Uncarayne had considered at all - he'd definitely not gotten where he was by telling people they were under arrest. In his experience, people generally already knew they were under arrest when a Marine came along and put a heavy hand on their shoulder. Maybe Eve had had more tractable encounters. He took the opportunity to slide along the wall and went back up around the now empty door frame, coming to a halt on the wall just above the door, while Eve was trying to order Arcadia to surrender and come quietly. It was a vantage point from which he couldn't see the people outside very much - and hoped that that also applied vice-versa - but he could definitely see all of Eve. She looked more scared than she'd ever looked on Goa, the way she was backed up against the guard rails and gripping them. Uncarayne could understand that, and gave her an encouraging double-thumbs-up as her speech ended. Arcadia, rather unsurprisingly, dismissed Eve's entire speech in one sentence. Uncarayne winced sympathetically at that (and the portable battery comment), but it definitely meant the long speeches were over and it was time to do the heavy persuading. He prepared to slide over on out, but he'd misjudged the timing. Arcadia had already continued speaking, but this time her tone was more lecturing than condescending, and Uncarayne was moving the moment she said "this will kill you" in so many words. Okay, so maybe she was scary even without her giant weapons. "Okay, so maybe we got off on the wrong foot," said Uncarayne from the ceiling above the massed people. There was Arcadia herself, another girl, and two men whose faces Uncarayne had definitely not seen in the folders. He made a mental note to ask Argos and Henan about that; the door was lying near one of the men, clearly the one who had gotten it out of the way before it hit anybody. "We don't have to do all this, you know? We could just settle it nicely, you give the World Government what it wants, it gives you a nice place to stay, we laugh about all this years from now?" He paused for a moment, listening for the far-off tinkling noise of that grenade going through the generator room, then shrugged. "Well, didn't think you would," he admitted, and began running away from the Shichibukai and her crew, his dials hissing softly as he filled the hallway up with their flammable gases. A short distance from them, he popped out of the ceiling and snapped his fingers. Immediately the gases caught fire, and he followed it up with a powerful swing of his hammer. "Ham Venti Pillar!" he shouted, the shockwave driving the flaming air into the Shichibukai and her crew.

The creaking of stressed metal echoed through the room as Eve gripped the handrail ever more tightly. Her Den Den broke through and buzzed with the all too tired voice of Henan. 'Permission to engage'. Was that it then? An inevitable outcome? It almost didn't seem real. Permission to engage the Shichibukai. Bring in a woman who pulled harshly on the strings of hundreds, maybe thousands, before burning them all when offered a bit of beli to do so. What was she to do? Little Eve Senba, born on Ketsuraku to a pair of nobodies, did nothing through childhood, enlisted and became another bit of cannon fodder as a teenager. Ventured into the Grandline, and found monsters. "...High horse?" Eve spat through a tightly clenched jaw. She was trembling all over. Her neck lifted and she met Arcadia eye-to-eye. "You think just because you're young you get a free pass? You think just because you don't pull the trigger on those weapons that you're not responsible?!" Rage pulsed through Eve's every vein. "Don't play dumb. You're a giant that likes stepping on ants, but pretends they don't even exist!" A sharp sting had punctured Eve's heaving chest. 'Portable battery'. Was that all she was? After eating that damn fruit, she had feared herself a monster, an inhuman beast that didn't have to worry themselves with things like fear or death or others. Turns out the real gods of the world saw Eve for how she really was; still nothing, nobody. But, though the insult stung at first, it quickly grew light, fluffy and started to float away. She, a monster? Who was she kidding? The monster was in plain view, right there in front of her. A monster, and just above them on the wall, a good friend. Eve's shoulders sank and she sighed while watching Arcadia handle the grenade. She took a long, calming breath through her nostrils. "I've given you your warning. I've given you a chance. You wanna cling to that pride of yours, well, ain't any of my business, huh? I'm still going to do what I have to do." She leaned back, momentarily, to gaze up at the cold metal ceiling. There was so much metal in this place. "I might just be a 'portable battery'. I might just be another little ant under your foot..." The grenade started to fly through the air. A Devil Fruit bomb, huh? And Arcadia thought the World Government was spending billions. If nothing else, it seemed a pretty good gambit to think that neither she or her crew were Fruit users themselves then. A weapon like that would be far too dangerous to use otherwise. But an anti-fruit user weapon didn't automatically guarantee a win against a fruit user. Eve's entire body started to glow and crackle as the grenade inched closer through the air. Yes, she may have just been another little ant. Not all that strong, not all that famous. Weak and nothing compared to all the monsters the world held. But still. She was Eve Senba - a nobody who lucked out and became a special little snowflake. Unca was already on the move. Eve had an idea what he was planning, and she would be able to survive it unharmed. There was no need for caution, so far as her fellow Marine was concerned. It was go-time, no matter what Eve wanted or didn't want. They would have to fight a Shichibukai, for duty, for good, survival, whatever cause had blurred through their heads. Arcadia was a giant, but even ants could be venomous. "If you're gonna choose death, then who am I to stop you?!" The grenade started to inflate and fragment - but Eve was already gone in a flash. A bolt of lightning flew forward, out the door and Eve reappeared nano-seconds later among that dread pirate crew, arms splayed out at her sides. There was no delay, and the entire outer corridor was filled with an explosion of lightning and one, baleful howl of "ARCADIA!!" Techs |

It did not take long for Illya to meet the opposition in the form of a singular gentleman barring the way. So this must be the CP9 agent that was behind the whole incident in the building, or at least one of them. Granted that this could be a random Marine that ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the pirate doubted that that was the case. After all, regular Marines rarely moved solo, and considering the number of stairs that the man had to climb, it was doubtful that he was lost. As such, it had to be one of the CP9 agents. The man's knowledge of the doctor's name, his association with Izuru and his reason for being here further lent credence to the man's identity. With all this knowledge that the man possessed, the inventor wondered if the man knew the basis for the devil fruit power. It was rather doubtful that that was the case considering that the one armed man had only acquired it rather recently and only used it on a ship in the middle of nowhere, but nothing in life but death was ever one hundred percent certain. It would be rather suspicious if the man knew, as if God himself revealed it. In any case. "I'm afraid I can't do that. You see, Lord Izuru was very specific in his orders to bring Lady Arcadia to him. Nowhere did the orders specify that I had to submit to the will of the World Government. So here's my deal, I take Lady Arcadia and you take the rest of her crew. I'm sure that they would have some useful information and that way we both win." the martial artist replied lightly, his hand gripping the spear shaft a bit more securely than before. It was doubtful that the CP9 agent would take that deal considering that their orders were to bring Arcadia to justice, making their orders and his impossible to achieve at the same time. Which was rather unfortunate since Illya did not particularly want to fight the CP9 agent, not yet at least, or at least not until he had some backup. Considering that the CP9 was considered to be the elite of the Marine special forces, this would not be an easy fight, one that he hoped that he would win but it was also entirely possible that he would lose, something that he was loathed to admit. As such, it was imperative to be prepared for anything, or as much as he could since it was purely impossible to be prepared for anything in the world. And then there was also the problem of showing his hand too early, perhaps the CP9 would take him up on the offer. Fortunately, the pirate had a way of being prepared for a lot of things while concealing his true power. First and foremost, the inventor activated his powers, his skin covering with hard red chitin though thankfully his bandages and clothing covered his entire body so that the changes to the skin would not be readily apparent. Unfortunately, the heat could not be concealed as easily. As much as the doctor tried to keep the heat as close to his own skin as possible, Argos would be able to feel at least some it, not enough to boil his blood, but enough to at least sweat. Hopefully he would attribute that to either the building defenses or the air conditioning messing up once the power was cut. With the heat being able to take on most attacks that the man could possibly throw at him and his seastone tipped spear ready to stop any possible devil fruit shenanigans the man might have, which was possible if unlikely, the one armed man was as prepared as he could be for the potential fight. Hopefully he would not need to use his armour, which was another trump card he hoped to keep a secret. |

In truth, William was just operating on a wild hunch right now, but that didn’t keep him from putting on a straight face when speaking to Argos. It would have been much harder to deal with the situation efficiently if he wasn’t convincing enough to get his message across after all. "Uncarayne didn’t tell me anything, I just saw him earlier. And I also just saw that you were the only guy near the stairs who wasn’t trying to get the hell out of this mess. The rest was a hunch." Something is weird though. he thought to himself, If this guy is accepting my help so quickly, then this is an emergency, and the only way that could be possible is if Arcadia isn’t on their side, or if some sort of even more formidable opponent was here, which was pretty much impossible given what’s happening in the New World. The thought of fighting Arcadia disquieted William beyond belief. Nevertheless, he kissed his unspoken projects with her good bye right then and took his decision: "I’ll go!" Bertrand didn’t know how much traffic the other stairs would have on the upper floors and he didn’t care to get stuck, so he opted for his own form of transport instead. As he ran inside the elevator, he swung his sword, sending a small air slash towards its roof. The glass shattered completely, while he transformed into his full stymphalian bird form. He let the shards of glass wash over him as they bounced harmlessly on his metal feather protection, and wrestled some of his now-too-large clothing. He wished he could take it with him upstairs, but this form was the only one small enough to fly through the elevator shaft without issues. In the end, he settled for the essentials: his weapon belt, his cartoonish shorts and the white baggy cotton shirt he was wearing under the jacket. Oh, and he forgot his musketeer hat on :) The trip upstairs was swift. He resolved to operate as stealthily as he could while he was flying, and try to pick off potential enemies one by one if the situation seemed to call for it. Killing wasn’t really his cup of tea, or orange juice, or any appreciated beverage really, but he was experienced enough to know what hesitating in certain situations would cost him. When he arrived at the nineteenth floor though, he was faced with a tiny problem. The doors to the elevator shaft would make a lot of noise if broken, so he had to take a detour and break the eighteenth floor elevator doors instead, and then take the stairs up. Thankfully, the way was clear of people. He guessed that they might have all gotten the hell out of the place while they could. William landed on his talons then, entering the floor as quietly as he could manage. The place smelled delicious, which made it that much harder for him to ignore all the food around him in the deserted restaurants. He was just about to attack a shrimp plate when he heard a noise that could only be fighting coming from another corner of the large floor. He took flight moving as close as he dared without entering the view of anyone in the corridor where the fight was taking place, and then quietly positioned himself high on a strategically chosen neon sign to observe what was going on in there from an almost hidden angle. He was positive that no one would see him unless they specifically knew what to look for. Being a vulture, he could see the details of what was going on, so he took a hard look to distinguish who was there. One of them looked clearly like Uncarayne smeared on the ceiling, and the other was… Eve? Of course it was Eve. It's not like this day was promising to improve. William still remembered the embarrassing way he had third-wheeled her “date” with Fudo, so he wasn’t really looking forward to seeing her again so soon. Oh well, maybe I'll get to make a better impression... he thought, all the while dressed in goofy purple shorts with ducks on them, a leather belt with weapons hanging, a white shirt and a musketeer hat, above a mane of silver feathers all over his bird body. He also recognized Arcadia vaguely, but the others weren’t really known to him. It was just as he feared though, the marines were outnumbered and the enemy was none other than one of the famed warlords of the sea. It seemed the odds weren't in their side's favor at all, even if he assumed some of the people there besides Unca and Eve were with the WG, so William tried to look more intently at everyone to decide who to snipe first. With any luck, he'd be able to kill an enemy before they discover him. OOC Used Techs

(it's already been 4 days? fuck me) She eyed the point of impact where her Rankyaku had struck. It seemed that it ended with less than desirable results when used again a metal man. Any human of flesh would have ended up with a hole right in their chest and if she wanted to get that result here it would take way too many of those than she had patience or time for. That was fine there were other methods ready to use that were much more simple and effective. With William gone though and the other people the metal man had attacked down for the count though it seemed that she was now the sole target for his aggression and thankfully most of the gamblers here were smart enough to get the hell out of the way. "Loudmouth?" Sure, some could consider her a bad person and want to kill her, that was nothing new, but being referred to as a loudmouth wasn't usual occurrence. For a moment she thought the thing may have been referring to someone else up until he attacked, the robot's arm suddenly extending, something she hadn't been expecting as she tried to dodge to the side but found herself being caught anyway. Her inexperience in fighting enemies of this type was really beginning to show. First instinct was of course to grab on to the choker around her throat in order to pry it off but metal was not anywhere near as forgiving as a human hand when it came to this. Seeing as her poisons would be pretty pointless here it seemed she would have to stick to brute forcing it for now. The woman's hair began to spring to life now almost as if two separate entities had been brought into this world. One of the creations would take the form of a hand while the other seemed to be much more like a leg. First priority was getting free from his hand as this was a rather vulnerable position to be caught in and after that the woman could focus more so on being on the offensive. The arm extension would shoot out in the blink of an eye before throwing a punch aimed directly at the elbow joint of the arm, the attack carrying the full intent of snapping the robot man's arm right off or at least getting him to low her to some stable footing once more. The other limb would begin to lash out with multiple attacks, an attempt to provide a bit of cover fire for the woman in order to prevent retaliation, of course she wasn't sure how effective it would be on a machine man. Still, she didn't want to go for any more big attacks, she was already spreading her self quite thin with using different attack with two different kinds of hair limbs
