Our markswoman would soon learn that, after leaving from Neptunia, it would only take a day and a half for them to arrive to the destination that the Log Pose was leading them toward - around thirty seven hours, to be exact. With the ship having it's engines, the weather being quite fair and generous and simply having to go in one direction to travel, it should not have been expected to take too long. It's possible that time also includes stopping for the night and anchoring down, or it could be non-stop by locking the helm into place or taking shifts. Regardless of how the time was cut and put into place, it will still have been a day and a half since leaving Colour back on Neptunia to deal with Bright-Eyes and friends. Their next destination would be in-sight, and the Shining Blacks would easily take notice to the darkened skies that would suddenly cover them as they proceeded toward the island and in the distance, they could make out that the island was covered quite heavily in a thick fog. The waters around the island were quite still, barely moving to any noticeable effect. They weren't in the Calm Belt, as there were still little gusts of wind that pushes the sails, but at this point the engines were doing the majority of the work. Approaching the island and trying to dock would likely be hard, as when in sight and coming through the fog, they could see the large amount of forest that likely surrounded the entirety of the island - akin to what they had seen back on Hazard Mountain, in terms of greenery. If they wanted to, they could pull close to the island and anchor down, but that runs the risk of running-ground and getting themselves stuck - as there were no proper places to dock. A second option would be secret option B. which was to use the small row-boat that has always been available to the ship, but the Shining Blacks never had reason to use it. It should be noted that there is quite a drop in temperature - the island seemed to be giving off an ominous, chilling vibe. But it was quiet, and even if they tried to listen in, they wouldn't hear much of anything. It was calm, but naturally creepy. |

Not knowing much about docking - as it had always been Colour doing that part when it wasn't at a docking port - Rika turned the vessel, attempting to align the side of the ship to the hook-shaped island's shoreline in order to 'dock' that way. She 'grounded' them a little while leaving some shallow water between the ship and the island. The ship was grounded to a degree, but overall, the docking was successful for a first-time attempt. The dark skies, fog, and near-uncomfortably cool temperature left an ill-boding feeling in the chest of the markswoman, Rika Badonn. She leaned against the side railing with her elbows atop it; head resting in her hands, she gazed at the dense jungle that awaited them. Wearing a black, men's sweater and brown rain jacket she obtained from her salvage spree on Nemea to keep warm ((did not obtain any winter clothing during salvage)), she thought aloud to herself with lazed eyes. "I wouldn't mind it if we stayed here on the ship...." ---------- If Travis was also on deck at the time, she would add, "Colour said he'd be here in a few days, right?" she called to him. "...It took about..., what, a day and a half to get here...?" she turned around to face him, leaning back against the railing with her elbows propped up. "That would mean he could be here by nightfall at the earliest...; maybe two days at most. How about we just wait here until then?" |

After a day and a half worth of travel later, the Shining Blacks (now down to two members) found themselves on the open waters. Though, the weather hadn't been too kind, for the skies had darkened and a heavy fog had settled in. Not looking too good, especially when the crew was currently split up, with the captain staying behind on Neptunia doing God knows what. While Michelle was “resting” (does swords even sleep?) in his room, Travis was on deck, overseeing the sails. He couldn't explain it, but it had suddenly gotten more and more chilly the longer they were sailing in this area. “Brrr...what is up with the weather? Fog, dark skies, cold air? Give me a break...” He muttered, stuffing his hands into his jacket pockets, for he managed to get his white and gold coat back from his new companion. He observed Rika managing to dock the ship, despite the fog, and soon, the crew were at the new location...wherever that was. “Meh, what are you talking about? This brisk weather's good for the body, though...a few minutes in the warm and cozy ship wouldn't hurt anyone...” Travis chuckled a bit, walking up towards her, and stood by her while gazing out to the dense jungle that was ahead of them. “Yep, a few days he said, which is usually, at least, two days. Though...I got no clue when exactly he'll be here.” He then heard the orange haired girl's suggestion on staying on the ship until the captain had made his return. Obviously, that was the smart idea, since they found themselves in an area that was completely unknown to them, and they were down one member. And of course, that one person would be the captain...their luck, right? “Staying on the ship would be for the best...though, it'd be so boring, wouldn't you say? Besides, that jungle over there got me curious as to what's lurking inside, and I'm itching to find out. Plus, any goodies we manage to find, we get to keep, so why not give the 'ol explorer route a try, Rika?” Travis taking his attention from the jungle towards the markswoman and grinned. He then cupped his left hand around the corner of his mouth. “Michelle! Let's roll! Bring Avenger and Swan!”] As the shout out finished, light footsteps echoed through the bottom of the ship, and soon, the petite girl appeared upon the deck, with two of Travis' swords in hand. “Here I am, Travis!” She smiled, rushing over to her master, giving him his swords. “Thanks. Ready to see what this place has in store for us?” “You bet! Is Rika coming along?” She asked, tilting her head towards the other female. |

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. That's most likely a lie, though. If the Shining Blacks were to venture into the depths of the ominous jungle that was before them, they'd find themselves trekking through completely unknown, cold and dark territory. Unknown to the two - three, of them, at least. Moving forward, the trio would have to disembark from the ship by dropping the rope ladder - or by simply leaping down, though the former of the options was likely the better of the two. In the off-chance that any of them decided to rush back to the ship out of fear of the unknown, but let's be honest: It'd only be Rika that were likely to rush back, because she's kind of a loser who doesn't like adventure and would rather spend time sipping warm tea on the ship and waiting out the hours before, hopefully, their Captain would return. Before disembarking, it would be wise to pack a few necessities for the three of them. Considering the several months supply of goods that they had received from their good deeds on Nemea, they had plenty to spare. With the over-looming darkness, something to make torches with wouldn't be such a bad idea - and forcing Michelle to carry everything would be wise as, she is sworn, to carry your burdens. Considering they still had time to kill - and Travis wasn't one to take no for an answer.. and it's probably worth noting that there isn't much authority here without Colour giving an order or giving them direction, it would come to the majority vote.. and even if Michelle is a sword, she's still kinda human so her vote counts. However, it's been mentioned in the past by Colour (if I can recall correctly) that out of both Rika and Travis, he considered that Rika were 'second in command' per-say. Oh, and if the markswoman were to look at her wrist (assuming that's where she put the Log Pose Colour had given her, as that's where he always kept his) - she'd notice that it was still pointing toward the island. Which meant that the Log Pose wasn't ready to start connecting with the magnetic field of the island, which would hint at they needed to step foot onto the island and when, and if she did, it'd start to frequently spin and once it recorded the field, it'd be indicating it's set for their next destination. Under the assumption that they're going to move forward: They'd find themselves wandering not all too aimlessly, but the further the stepped into the dense jungle, that ominous feeling would only get worse as it'd seem as though they were being watched.. -- but still remaining rather quiet. Not a gust of wind, a branch breaking underneath their feet. Sticking together would be for the best. They were all strong, and formidable in their own rights - defending themselves would be easy, if something were to happen. ---- Silent as one could be, there was something lurking in the dense fog and jungle - though it would likely go unnoticed by the Shining Blacks themselves. It was small, and didn't seem to stand out - which is what this creature may or may not be good at. From a fair distance, it stared at the three aboard the Marine ship as it was perched on a tree branch. It's head tilted, and features unclear. Possibly a scout of some sort, as it had a small little notepad it scribbled something down on and returned it to it's person and nodded - stared a bit more as it saw Travis, Rika and Michelle talking. And then it bolted off in the jungle and started heading toward what could be considered the 'center' of the island. |

Rika groaned softly at the thought of going onto the island. Head still resting in her hands, she sighed and picked herself up. "Yeah~, I'm coming..." muttered audibly. "I don't want to, though.... Damn it, Colour...!" She would rather wait until Colour arrives, but that wasn't an option right now. Colour said to stay by Travis, meaning if Travis was dead-set on going through this place, she just had to follow. Talking him out of it in advance: that failed, so the journey was on, and those two, Travis and Michelle, were ready to go. ".... So you're just going to go - like that - in the dark? You won't be able to see very well; you know that, right? And who knows what's even out there...." That Travis was far too adventurous for his own good. Rika turned to Michelle, who seemed very eager to follow Travis into the unknown. "...C'mon, say something to him, already...! Don't just follow him out there...!" She was expecting too much from a walking hunk of metal. |

Travis took the two swords that his new companion had brought, and rested them at his right side of his hip. Even though staying on the ship would've been the safest option...when have the crew done anything the easy way? After all they've been through, the swordsman wasn't going to let some unknown territory scare him away from some awesome exploring. He knew Rika wasn't really up for it, and if she truly wanted to stay, he wasn't going to force her into coming. However, them sticking together, especially since their crew were already separated, getting even more apart wouldn't be the smartest move. So, the markswoman had no choice in the matter, now did she? “Well, we'll just have to keep notice of where we're going, or hopefully, the fog will clear up and we'll be able to find our way back. I'm not worried at all about what might be out there. Come on, we just knocked down literal giants, so unless even bigger beings are out there...I'm not seeing the reason for worry.” Travis replied, cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders, before making his way off of the ship. Before Michelle could follow, Rika had caught her attention, causing the petite girl to stop and place a finger upon her chin. “Umm...I mean, if Travis thinks it's a good idea, why not follow him. I never got the chance to explore anything with my previous master, so I wanna see what's out there. You guys are super strong, right Rika? So, why not just go out and have fun with it?” She offered a light smile before following the swordsman off of the ship. Travis led the way inside of the thick fog, taking in the details he could all around him. Nothing could be seen and the only that could be heard was the twigs and sticks crunching beneath the group's feet. “Creepy level high and raising...crazy. I wanna say there's a feeling of being watched, but...meh.” Travis muttered, narrowing his eyes before sighing. “It's not that bad. I mean...the weather's nice, yeah?” Michelle looked up at the youth, giving a thumbs up. Edited by IcemanDrake, Feb 3 2015, 07:17 AM.

Further into the island... Running through the ruins of the former Muggy Kingdom that once stood here, a small monkey ran it's way rather quickly toward the castle that was once complete, but now more like a pile of rock stacked somewhat neatly in the form of a castle. It was falling a part, but it was obviously once something great. Everything seemed empty, but the little monkey rushed and rushed it's way to what was likely the former throne room. Through the opening and toward to where the throne itself once was, a shadow covered a figure that sat in the seat and the little monkey took out it's notepad. He read over what it had wrote down, and then put it away on his person. He couldn't speak, but instead used sign language: " Sitting in a broken windowsill nearby, another figure was covered in the shadows as the small amount of light from the sun that could break it's way through fog and clouds, a small glimpse of brown hair could be made out - and light chuckle came from the figure. With Rika, Travis and 'hunk of metal'-girl... Silence, fog, darkness, trees and more silence. It's possible that the group would still feel as though they were being watched, at least if they were on alert. And whomever had the sharpest of ears in the trio may be able to pick out more than the leaves and branches cracking underneath their feet as they further pushed. Continuing forward, they would notice that the ground underneath their feet would be changing from dirt and earth to cracked concrete, with grass and roots growing through the cracks, or pushing the stone up from the ground. It would appear an open area would be coming up, but the Shining Blacks would soon feel - hear - and see larger than an average human sized apes that were wearing armour, ragged as it may be and wielding various weapons. Had they been paying attention with sharp ears and natural gut-feelings, they were being followed and tracked as soon as they stepped foot onto the island and were at the moment surrounded by at least ten of these apes. They didn't make any advances, not yet anyway. |

Following Michelle's response to the redhead, Rika watched the girl leave with Travis. The markswoman sighed. "Have fun with it, she says," muttering to herself. Remembering that this girl is actually a sword, she realized that she couldn't fault it for not knowing any better. That said, she walked to the part of the ship where Travis got off. "Can I quickly remind you of something...?" Accompanying them reluctantly, she spoke towards the swordsman. "Those giants that we 'knocked down:' I hardly did a thing to them, Colour beat one of them, and you weren't yourself when you barely beat that other one," referring to the giant with the equally massive sword. "And don't forget about those huge beetles that we weren't able to beat... all while managing to avoid a marine confrontation, I might add. So, sorry that I think we got lucky; sorry that I lack the confidence to march blindly through a dark, cold, foggy island forest...! ...Dammit, I can barely see...." Through all of her complaining - both vocally and mentally, she wasn't able to fully hear the footsteps of those watching them for a short while. When Michelle responded to Travis's sighing, "...+" Rika couldn't help secretly narrowing her eyes at the girl, somewhat annoyed. She wasn't going to bother saying anything, though. Indeed, the girl was, by nature, a hunk of metal; what would she know about nice weather...? Reaching the concrete-paved clearing brought a clearer view as there was a tad less fog here. However, the sight that wasn't very welcoming; 'large apes wearing armor and carrying weapons' are one of those kinds of things you naturally never want to encounter in your lifetime - under any circumstances. ...But now, being surrounded..., there's no real way to avoid them, is there...? She faced a direction opposite of Travis and readied her hands to pull out a colt pistol and her Golden Hawk if needed. As far as she was concerned, Michelle wasn't of any use on her own, and she saw no reason to protect her from attacks as she can return to being a sword at will; that, and Travis might use her here, giving more reason not to worry about her. |

“If you think this is nice weather, I hate to see your version of bad...” Travis shook his head, before turning his head towards the markswoman when she asked for his attention. She then started to lay out the facts on how this was still a bad idea, and he couldn't fault her for it, but it still remained that they were still walking towards the unknown. “Okay, first off, we totally had those beetle dragons, if it wasn't for your penguin-mole thing friend showing up on a huge tiger, taking the glory for that. And for the giants, I don't count that as 'barely'. It's either you get the job done or not; there's no in-between.” He wagged his finger, and then chuckled a bit. “Look Rika, you don't have to apologize for anything. I get it; just charging straight forward can be a bit uneasy to deal with every single time, but...that feeling will lessen the more you get confident in your own abilities. I certainly believe in them, hence why I asked you to come along with me. See, I could have been out here by myself, and asked you to stay on the ship, if I hadn't believed that you could keep up. So...just do what you can, and believe, alright?” Travis explained, giving a peace sign and a light smile, and Michelle had down the same thing. Because of the conversation they just had, the swordsman, sadly, was unaware of his surroundings for a short time, and Michelle, even though she hadn't spoke a word, hadn't picked up any sounds, since she was just excited to just be out and walking about. Soon, the trio made it to an opening that held less fog, and had concrete pavement instead of the dirt, twigs, and leaves. Though, they would quickly find out that they weren't alone, for massive primates were in the area, sporting armor and various weapons. Travis stopped his advancement and glanced around, taking in their numbers. “Michelle...” He muttered, before the girl nodded, and turned herself into her sword form, getting caught by her master, and the youth held the sword at the ready. “You gonna let us walk...or are we gonna have to rush through you? Well? Come on then!” Travis shouted out, dashing out and leaped forward with a wide arcing slash towards the nearest ape in his sights. |

They didn't appear that they would attack all at once and instead, looked as if they were a group of people looking for some kind of entertainment? As they were circled around the trio-duo and wouldn't allow them to escape, but would instead watch the fights as they would play out. When Travis had made the first move, it could be noticed that all the apes were smiling or grinning. The ape that Travis had charged was wearing some worn and rusted chain-mail armour over his upper body and was wielding a buckler in his left hand and a lightweight, rusted-looking curved sword in his right. It would simply use the buckler to block and hold off Travis and Michelle and then use it's superior strength to forcefully push-back the young swordsman. It would follow-up quickly in it's retaliation and pushed off the ground and toward Himura with it's own sword over the opposite shoulder and going for a diagonal slash. It's not like Rika would be left out of the fun as one of the other apes stepped forward from the surrounding nine of them, leaving eight on guard. It was wearing some old and torn leather armour over it's upper-body, and both elbow and knee pads. It was wielding a kanabo, that too, like everything else, appeared to be worn. Nevertheless, the beast would run it's way with both of it's hand gripped and the weapon raised above it's head, ready to bring it smashing down upon the markswoman. |

As Travis rushed forward, "---Hey wait!" the first ape was ready for the attack. Rika quickly returned her attention to her front where other apes stood around them. What the redhead quickly noticed... was that..., "...They're not attacking...?" She expected Travis's recklessness to immediately make the group of beasts swoop in, all at once. ...But that wasn't the case. In fact, ...they were grinning as they stood there. A curious brow rose, as did her caution level. Soon enough one of the onlookers decided to approach Ms. Badonn. The others remained where they were, "...." and with that, "...I see how it is, n---!!" the beast moved in quickly, and very human-like, which slowed Rika's reaction time. "W-what??" Her eyes widened upon noticing and she jumped to the side to avoid the impact of the downward swing. For a moment, everything slowed down in her mind. "No way...!" She didn't move too far to the side from that jump; there were other beasts there, waiting, weapons in hand. Any one of them could blindside her at whim and Rika knew that. Close quarters combat was not her forte. She took hold of a colt pistol. Her intention was to disable the beast and avoid killing it. Hopefully that'll be enough to intimidate the group. ...At the same time, she didn't want to shoot at it up close. She had her reasons, but she needed to do something. If only her oil slick or adhesion capsule were ready.... ".... ...." Rika cautiously watched the ape, trying to create more distance within the circle, while trying to dodge its assault. Once enough distance is achieved, she would take a shot at the creature's seemingly dominant arm. |

One would expect while attacking wild animals of any sort, they would be sporting some sort of hostile facial expressions. However, with these apes, they were all either holding a grin or a smile upon their face. Talk about weird, right? Well, that hadn't stopped Travis from following through with his attack towards his target, which was blocked, and afterwards, was pushed back due to a feat of strength. “Whoa!” Travis grunted, landing upon his feet after getting pushed. “That furry guy's got some power!”[/b] Michelle laughed, as it was her first time seeing an ape. “Don't tell me you've never seen an ape before?” “Nope. Never. They seem fun though.” Travis rolled his eyes with a scoff, before watching the ape coming at him with a slash of its own. Bringing both swords up and crossing them together, the swordsman managed to block the strike, and the youth was yet again pushed away. Travis stumbled back after the block and couldn't help the slight grin growing upon his face. He didn't feel any hostility or fear from the primates, so...were they having fun or was it something else? Well, whatever the case, this certainly took care of any growing boredom that might have been present within the swordsman. “Who knew apes knew how to fight on this kind of level?" Travis huffed out, watching Rika handle the ape with the large weapon, he could only hope she could handle herself, for he had his own target to worry about. “Having fun, pal? Let's keep the party going then!” Travis grinned, pulling Michelle back, and swiped horizontally, releasing an air projectile that was bigger than the normal ones he usually launch, and this one had a different color to it as well, holding a crimson tint instead of a light blue. Great time to test out new tricks, am I right?

Upon impact with the ground, it was barely noticeable but the kanabo had cracked - but it had damaged the already broken stone, too. It raised up and looking to Rika with a big smile on it's face and it twirled the weapon in it's hand as it stared at the redheaded markswoman, her pistol drawn on it. It didn't seem to have a care in the world, even while it was staring down the weapon that could possibly kill it. It's head tilted to the side as it kept it's eyes on Rika's hand, her eyes and the gun itself. But the calm wouldn't last too long, as it would push itself off the ground and toward the markswoman and repeated the same attack, only this time with it's right arm - it would come barreling down toward the redhead. It's likely that she would jump to the left, and this time the ape wouldn't wait before it jumped toward the markswoman again but this time it would change it's swinging arm, the weapon in it's left - and it would again go for another downward strike, likely making her jump to the right. As the kanabo hit the ground, it broke upon impact and the top half of it would fly into the air. Grabbing the broken half with it's right while it was up in the air, he would spin around - this was likely when Rika took her shot as some extra distance would have been achieved. The bullet go through the back of the left shoulder as he spun around, through and through - but as his spin completed, he would chuck the broken piece at the markswoman with a lot of force. Out of the corner of his mouth, he would spit on the bullet wound. A wide smile still remained. Moving on over to Travis, it seemed that the ape had him beat in raw strength. The two stood their ground at the distance between one another, as the ape had proved it's power over Himura twice with it's own block - and pushing him back in his own attempt at blocking the ape's attack. It eyed Travis as he took stance and swiped the air and sent a shockwave toward the ape. Quick to react, it held out it's blade diagonally and positioned it's buckler behind the blade to add to his defense as the crimson air collided and it held it off for a moment before it began to get pushed back.. but it's rusted, old blade would give-out. The blast went through the blade, cutting it in-half and it would continue on to hit the ape and taking it off it's feet and sending it flying backwards. It'd come to an end and it's armour had an obvious cut in it, with a a small layer of the ape's own crimson as it laid unconscious on the ground. The eight that stood around started to.. make monkey noises as they jumped up and down, raising their fists and weapons. This was at both Travis knocking out one of the apes, and at the ape that was fighting Rika take the bullet like a champ. Not wasting anytime, another stepped forward - seven on guard - wielding an old katana and a tattered sash around it's waist, with the sheath to the katana in it. It stood it's ground with a smile a bit away from Travis.. but then it would take a familiar stance.. It would swipe horizontally toward the boy and launch an air projectile that just as big as the one Travis had unleashed, only it had a white colour to it. Immediately after releasing it, the ape itself would follow and leap forward with a wide arcing slash toward Travis. |

The broken top half of the kanabo that was flung at Rika connected with the empty colt pistol in her hand. It was knocked out of her grasp and away towards the spectating beasts. At the same time, the force of the kanabo's impact hurt Rika's hand. It wasn't injured, it seemed, but it was too soon to say such a thing if this keeps up. She did have the other unused colt pistol in her opposite hand, however. After a few seconds, following the last flung kanabo impact, she fired on the ape's right upper arm, hoping to disable it. She still couldn't get an accurate reading on whether or not the last shot actually took the left arm out or not, but for now, she work with what she does now - which isn't much in this case. Once her right hand felt better, she grabbed her Golden Hawk. Though it wasn't equipped with the exact capsule line-up she would like, it would have to do. The first in line was a cryo capsule shot, aimed at the upper section of the humandrill's torso. |

The projectile had met its mark, and the ape was now left upon his back. “Hah! How's that? Who else wants some?!” The swordsman shouted, raising both swords up high and grunting along with the other apes that were doing the same. Since speech was next to impossible with the beasts, the youth figured that only actions would get through, so animals would listen to those that prove dominant, right? It was something that he had to go off of, for the time being. “This is fun! Wonder long the fuzzy animals can last for?” Michelle gleefully spoke. “Meh, doesn't matter. They keep lining up, and I keep knocking 'em down.” Travis watched another ape walked up to the plate. “Okay. Let's do this, monkey man.” Travis pounded his chest lightly, as the ape went into a very familiar stance...and launched an air projectile. The youth's eyes widened a bit, watching the attack, roughly the same size as his new one, came directly at him. His jaw tightening, Travis crossed his two swords together, and proceeded to block the attack, which started to push him back a bit. “Damn...it...come on.” He growled, before managing to divert the projectile to another flight path, causing it to crash into some of the surrounding trees. He, however, hadn't counted for the leaping slash that followed the air slash. Even though Travis managed to make sure the slash hadn't drawn blood, the force knocked him off his feet and away a few feet. Rolling upon the ground, he grunted as he got to his feet. “You alright, master?” “Oh yeah, I'm having a ball. So...there's more to these monkeys than meets the eye, eh? This party's getting crazy! Let's keep it going.” With that, Travis sported a wide grin to his face, along with the apes, and rushed back to battle, with a volley of well placed slashes, all aimed towards his opponent, throwing in feints and parries as well. |
