First off wanna say: terrible idea and a kick in the nuts for us people who try so hard and dedicate years of our lives to this site. Of course a bunch of new members would like any idea to jumpstart their growth but that's not even remotely fair in the sense of member equality. Let me point out that as others have said before, this site is based on a dedication and effort system where people all rp in their own singular universes. Giving newbies a headstart does absolutely nothing. There is no competition to be won here, there is no "facing off" to be had unless members wanted to. And when you get to 500+ ranges a 200 sd difference means very little. Especially when/if Rayne takes an advancement for an extra trait, then it all becomes even closer. Long story short, there is no merit to giving newbies faster growth or a headstart since there is no competition. To be very blunt here, the only e-peen contest is one you yourself create and with enough dedication to that e-peen contest, you'll get there. But I don't feel staff should start catering and encouraging people into this. Oprp is great in the sense that if you want to stay out of all that, you can and can just rp whatever you want and have fun. I have a 350 sd char I rp little different from a starter because their story is just fun. If you're a competitive type, hell, post every day, go for it and conqueror islands and whatnot. You'll get your recognition sooner or later and you'll eventually catch up to the big names. Oprp is great with that freedom in mind. I find it very derogatory that when a member has put 4 years to earning that 500+ suddenly gets told that from now on, new members have an edge to level the playing field they spent years working on. It shits all over their effort and loyalty to this site and undermines their goals. There are systems in place to slow down powergrowth and if it gets crazy, I'm pretty sure the blues will make a new benchmark for the sd to sp conversion to screw people like Rayne, Dark, Aml, Shamma and myself even further. So yeah, system is fine as it is. You want power, work for it. This site is not about quick jump-in pvp and hopefully never will be. Edit: For a perfect example of members catching up, Ricter and Sosina's crew. Just put in the dedication. Edited by GlasgowSmiley, Jan 9 2015, 10:18 PM.
