I never really thought this was fair...but I got an important role, so I can't really complain.

Hannah was crouching within an area of confined space, as if she was hiding away from something. She was inside of a gigantic building. In front of her, there was a huge black wall while to her left, right and back there were large objects intricately placed at an exact location to veil her. Behind her there was a carved opening, allowing an opportunity for her to go through. She then became attentive as she listened...waiting for a certain cue. Loud music blasted the area behind her, loud voices were announced upon a microphone, exchanging dialogue and captivating anyone within reach. Suddenly, lights shone brightly upon the large objects, giving the area a big spotlight. The area around her grew warmer as a bright flash intensified, capturing awe from the crowd. Then, she could hear a voice boom out. "Prepare the sealing ritual."

She was in a play, playing as a character. However, it was not yet the cue and she waited as the stadium shone brightly with fire and wonderful effects, captivating the audience. She was about to enter as one of the main roles, hiding behind large props that set the stage. For her character, she wore a very tight, but flexible dress with a cape that hung around her back. Hannah found it to be quite a secular dress as she did find the front cut a little too low for her comfort. However, she was in a play and per the production values, her character best fit the characterization with the dress.

Hannah found the play to be a bit weird when she scored a main character role and had read the entire script. However, she really liked the musical vocals behind it as it had a gripping feeling to it. The play was basically based off of Karaoke Island's own volcano but set on a fictional setting. Every 300 years, a terrible entity would arise within the volcano and in order to subdue the creature, a sealing ritual had to be conducted by the royal council. Unfortunately, evil within the council corrupted this procedure and released the entity. Since the beast was unstoppable and could not be killed, it was up to the titular character of the play to suppress the beast and seal it once more.

"What is the meaning of this!? Do you have any idea of what you are doing!? Don't unlock the key within the scroll!"

After displaying her skill as a talented actress, she was able to score a main role.

"Do you realize how much power I could attain by unlocking the beast? I would be unstoppable!"

"NO! Stop people have fallen under the mistress' control! I beg of you, please cease your actions!"

And then the man's tone changed into a sort of tune, as if he was singing. "For 300 years you have slumbered, through these times you have rumbled. Your power is all so exquisite, with might that is so mystic. Now I break this enchanting seal, to answer for everything you have yet to deal. Wreak havoc upon the island, bring chaos and evil upon the land. How great and mighty, destroying all who are less. Arise from your slumber, Volcanic Sorceress!"

A blast of sound effects came on as the stadium immediately became hotter. That was her cue. And yep, she was casted as the main antagonist: The entity. Not particularly what she wanted, but it got her a role at least.

Hannah opened the door and quickly shut it behind her. A blast of smokescreen and generated fire obscured her view from the audience. However, as soon as she appeared on the stage, the fire ceased. Hannah then spun her cape around, knocking back most of the smoke away and revealing her presence to the audience. All lights shone on Hannah as her entire dress and body reflected beautifully. Hannah wore intense make-up to make her look more ominous. Her entire dress was a silky, blood red color that emanated a dominant force. She looked...awesome, yet incredibly daring.

With raw power, Hannah screamed and laughed in a very sinister manner upon her entrance, intimidating the audience as they all leaned back in their seats. She then spoke in a very sinister manner. "So...who has awaken me from my eternal slumber?"

Why couldn't I get the main role...I'm casted as this bitch. Regardless, she was definitely acing the role.

‘Controversial’ was a word that Jake seldomly used, but if he had to summarize what he’d heard about the play it would be just that. The premiere of this new ‘masterpiece’ by one of the more famous directors on Karaoke Island had apparently been a hot topic since before Jake had arrived on the island and the expectations were high. Which also lead to all the higher expectations of something happening during the play. This because it seemed like these artistians were a jealous bunch that didn’t mind using a few tricks in order to down the performance of a rival.

And as such a job opportunity appeared for Jake. The director had demanded extra security to make sure that the play would go smoothly and without mishaps. And all one had to do in order to get the job was getting the aproval of the director. Something that would have been pretty difficult for an outsider like Jake lest the widespread knowledge that the director was an egocentric man with a weakspot for flattery. He didn’t pay any attention to Jakes lack of acting skills and seemed like a puffed up rooster when Jake explained that he was a big fan and how much he admired his work.

Jake didn’t know how many had used the same trick in order to get the job, but he imagined that it was quite a few and that it could very well prove counterproductive, not that he would point it out because A; his job was simply to handle problems as they arose, and B; it could be actual fun if it did.

It had seemed like a easy way to earn some money, and here he was, on the far side of the theatre, looking out over the rows of seated people and the scene. But he felt extremely uncomfortable, this because the looks people had given for a while now. Ever since he bought the suit he’d wear at the theatre and the woman manning the shop had smiled like that at him. He’d caught people glancing at him and he’d grown more and more distressed as it was nothing he was used too. This anexity reached its peak when he in the theatre lobby asked one of the hostesses whether there was something wrong with the way he looked.

Much to Jakes dismay it seed like she understood exactly what the problem was and simply smiled as she straightened his tie and collar without saying anything. Luckily the feeling subsided when the play started, it was dark, noone was looking his way and he could also watch the play himself, and founnd it quite good, though his opinion was not much to go by as it was the first play he watched.

Musashi was one lucky son of a gun. The first island he'd landed on was a small cultural hub in the West Blue, where people gathered to bask in the unhealthy air of the island, thanks to a volcano. This caused the acclaimed perpetual reddened sky that drew in artists of each and every sort, seeking inspiration for their works. So it wasn't stretching to say this was a good first stop on his little adventure. After all, he originally set sail on an adventure to learn of the culture of a hub in the grand line, why not see how others compare?

Now this place was clearly lacking in the department of warriors, as each and every person had arms like twigs, or was simply too fat to actually be of use. So clearly this place was not if the kind of location a warrior like himself would go for inspiration in his art. Which was fair enough, considering the smog was making him cough up a lung. If there was any learning he could do on this island, it was how to shrug off gaseous poisons while carrying on with his life.

This asides, Musashi was blessed with another stroke of luck, when a couple of artists were having a loud and angry falling out in the streets. Something about whether a painting was smiling or frowning? Nothing important, but as the male in the relationship stormed off, the Boxer Crab fishman was the most noticeable one, and wound up having to be the one to take on the burden of two tickets to the day's play. Apparently they were planned for a date but since the man's girlfriend couldn't appreciate his art, she likely wouldn't appreciate anyone else's.

So what would Musashi do? He had two tickets to a play and only himself to go with. Now, being the only fishman on the island, heck, anywhere within miles and miles of the island, was pretty intimidating, up until he looked at the bright side. One for him, and one for literally anyone else who could make it there! All he had to do was decide who. The Boxer Crab would ponder a while. He could sell it at the tavern and make a small profit, some popcorn money and such. He could go and ask a lady on a date to the theater, after all the seats were picked for a date. But in this situation he made the nice guy choice. He gave the ticket away to a young street urchin who was begging for money on the street. The young one could do with it what they wished, and considering the ridiculous price of a single ticket, they could eat for a while.

The rest of his day was spent washing up. He was going to a play, after all, and reeking of fishiness was a good way to get himself kicked out. He didn't have much else to wear, so he also had to do his laundry. The process was boring. On to the good part.

Musashi had arrived at the theater, and had himself one hell of a seat. It turned out that guy who just shoved tickets at him, was an acclaimed and very rich artist, and he had shoved first class, front row tickets at him. That urchin must have been rolling in cash by now. The boxer crab fishman was very pleased with his location. He was legitimately the front and center seat. Because he was so big he had to slouch in his seat out of politeness, and the lady who purchased the ticket from the street urchin was probably very attractive by human standards. A fiery red head, busty, good birthing hips, wearing a dress akin to the lady on stage playing the angry volcano beast.

As he watched the progression of the story, Musashi found himself crossing his many rows of hands, sitting forwards and resting his chin on them. Nodding every once in a while as he followed along. Almost as if waiting for something. Now while he wasn't the only one to bring weapons into the theater, he was the only one to bring a multitude into it openly, and by this point his watching habits were making him look suspicious as fuck. Plus front row, too specifically good a point. Was he malicious? No, but did he look it? Most definitely. That is until he finally sat back with this look of resignation in his eyes, "Nope, I just, I don't get it..." His voice was hushed, but still loud enough to be heard by many rows over, especially because they were listening.

At the very least...this is probably one of my most favorite musical pieces in the play as this character.

She was now exchanging dialogue with the man who had released the seal. Hannah's spirit was about to jolt out of her body, in anticipation of the musical piece that was about to come forth. She had practiced this part for hours after hours, almost perfecting it. Ever since she first read the script of the music, she became resonant with its content. It was one of the most powerful arrangements she had ever seen and it quickly became one of her favorite pieces.

The dialogue finally finished, and the live music began playing. This was her cue to begin. The song she sang began with a very dark tone, but as it progressed, it became more powerful and deeper in depth. She started off by dancing around with her cape, gloriously looking upon the spotlight and waved her arms in a patterned motion. Her movement was absolutely mystifying and her voice was yet so raw and captivating. Every move she made with her beautiful body released a mysterious energy that would excite the crowd, building it up to the exciting part. Soon enough, she reached to the chorus, where it played an insanely crazy hook. Blasts of lights, sound effects, and choreographers joined in when the chorus began. Hannah then doubled up on her movements as she sang the chorus, commanding choreographers as if they were her servants. After the chorus ended, it moved straight on back to the verses where she continued to build up. Because of how much emphasis she put into the song, the audience began to sing along to the music when the chorus came up again.

After she sang the chorus a second time, the bridge had arrived, where the music intensified and Hannah would start conducting elaborate dance moves in conjunction with the sound effects and props. Supporting actors and choreographers vastly joined in, adding more flare to the stadium and made it electrifying. When the bridge reached its conclusion, Hannah sprung up and raised both of her hands. A blast of fire emitted out from the floor a few inches from both the left and right side of her. She slowly moved her arms down, feeling the beat as it was happening, smiling evilly in unison with the music. It was without a doubt an erotic moment, engaging eyes of the audience. Hannah then performed the chorus once more, taking it up a higher octave and raising the stakes. The background vocals supported her whenever she would hit the high notes. Props moved at stylishly fast pace, replenishing the energy and spiking it over and over. The choreographers rapidly moved with passion and the live music instantly took it up a notch.

Finally, Hannah had one last delivery. She sang the last part of the chorus, where everything was almost silent for nearly 3 seconds. She hit what seemed to be one of the highest notes that she could hit with clarity, and she had to hold it for about 8 seconds as the trumpets blared and the drums rolled ferociously, rising with a brisk crescendo. A final note was hit by the live music, and everyone froze in a stance to signify the conclusion.

The audience roared in applause as Hannah remained in her stance, breathing heavily from the intense performance. The spotlight then dimmed, and that was her cue to leave for transition of the next part. Quickly, Hannah made her way out, smiling with glee. Minor actors and actresses, tech team, and the production team all quietly praised Hannah with excitement as she came in. She could only hear the immense positive feedback as she returned the praise with thanks.

She nailed it. That was certainly without denial. The play may teeter around the controversial line, but it was without a doubt one of the highest production and musical values that anyone could comprehend. It was plays like these that are mastered by a skillful director that makes the theatre acts incredibly successful.

To his surprise Jake found that he was a real sucker for this kind of event. It was all just
amazing, the music, the acting, the lights, it was all unlike anything Jake had seen before and it captivated him. Especially the part right after the revelation of the ‘entity’ and the chorus that came with it. Caught up in it he instinctively joined in on the applause that followed the last tone faded and darkness engulfed the theatre.

During the stillness of the intermission that followed, and no longer focused on the center stage, Jake caught a glimpse of movement down close the base of the scene and turned to see what it was. It was dark as a cave now when the lights were no longer shining on the stage, but Jake could see a group of men on each side of the stage that half-hidden behind the draperies seemed like they were working on something. Jake had no idea what they could possibly be doing and it sparked his interest.

He took the step onto the stairs and silently made his way down along the wall towards the men, the murmur of the audience blocking out the sound of his steps, and he went unnoticed up until he was standing right behind them and spoke up.

”Excuse me, but would you mind telling me what you’re doing?”

One of the men quickly stood up and spun around at Jake while the other continued drawing cables and arrange a number of kegs. The man eyes seemed used to the dark and perfectly able to see, because Jake noted how his gaze stopped and the blade that Jake was wearing at his hip before flicking upwards to his face. He seemed as cool as a cucumber when he stared back at Jake and answered.
”We’re pyrotechnicians, we’re just making the preparations for the final act.”
A barely noticable smile appeared on his face.
”Would you be as kind as returning to your post, we’re on a tight schedule and wouldn’t want to delay the final by not being set up by then.”
He may have been smiling and using a gentle tone, but neither reached his eyes whose cold gleam made it clear that he didn’t want Jake around and coud grow inpatient with him any second. Jake didn’t feel the urge to dig further, especially since he was looking forward to this finale and didn’t want to miss it.

He already was back where he had been standing before and the play was just about to start again before something struck him as off.

The play went on to pump in ever more dramatic flair. The volcano beast had this interesting tone of singing which made the crowd almost dazzled, and the special effects were quite nice for certain. In fact just about every other person here was enraptured in the performance gasping and cheering as pyrotechnic flames spewed forth. Musashi was just watching the people move around and belt out notes. Perhaps there was something wrong with him? His look of resignation seemed to strain as he watched attempting to follow something in the play. His eyes were getting increasingly bloodshot for the performance's duration.

And then it was over.

The boxer crab fishman would watch as the curtains reeled in. Was it over? Everyone was applauding. What was the point? Did he miss something? His mind reeled with confusion causing slight puffs of smoke like that from an overclocked engine to spew from his ears, quickly dissipating into the haze. His look of resignation faded even further into a look of his brain being turned entirely off. His eyes were turned white entirely, rolled into the back of his head, and his jaw was gently agape, saliva beginning to pool up for drool to form.

Inside his head many metaphorical beings began to run around rampantly in the dark. "Crap he actually blew a fuse!" "Where the hell is Culture?!" "I think he called off sick, Boss!" "What!? But today is literally his big day!" "No wonder he doesn't get it, eh?" "Cut the shit, find that breaker, and flip back on." "What then, boss?" "I dunno! Fuckin... Give him the answers he needs to not blow the fuse again!" "But that's Culture's area of expertise!" "Enough of your excuses, Excuses! You've really been slacking, so it's about time you did something useful around here!" "Bah, fine. I was curious anyways..."

Zooming out from the metaphor that was Musashi's brain, it would be just a few seconds longer before his eyes rolled back forward and he gasp, as if he literally just woke up. "I get it!" he would declare, startling people on either side of him with his suddenness. He then sat forward and gripped his head as if recalling some kind of vast information, "The value of the piece lies purely in the musical aspect, the actual plot doesn't matter." His grand revelation got him a swift hit over the head with a half-full bag of popcorn, and a demanding hushing noise from a few rows back.

He looked back, rubbing his head, but couldn't find anyone who looked like they'd throw popcorn, so he would sigh and sit back once more, and would start eating the buttery goodness that was theater popcorn. By this point he'd have entirely missed most of what had been going on in the break for the finale, and in fact, the lady next to him tried and gave up on conversing with him in this time he had overthought stuff. Musashi wasn't looking for arm candy anyways, but now he was rude.

"That was wonderfully done, Hannah! Ah, just seeing you perform makes this part so epically splendid! My sweat and soul was put into that piece when I wrote it, and to see someone as masterful as you to ace it makes my heart want to flee my body."

The Director was indeed quirky, but he had been experienced in the theatre prospect way longer before Hannah was even born. The man was thinly built, wore oval glasses, and dressed casually with a polo shirt. Hannah could easily see on his face the expression of a man who works hours and hours with tireless effort, doing what he loves the most. If there was one characteristic Hannah could describe the man, he was filled with bottomless energy. While interacting with him was tough, she had already learned so much just from receiving his direction, and just through one play. No wonder this man was so well-received and successful.

"I'm just really curious, Mr. Director. What inspired you to make this play?" Hannah asked. She could hear people flittering around as they were preparing for the first scene of the second act.

"Ah, concerned about this controversy, yes? Well, the thing is, I don't want people to think about the volcano here at this island. For sure, I did take inspiration off of the landscape, but that isn't the point. I want people to glamor of the beauty here at Karaoke Island. I want to emphasize of why this island is a main center for all artists and musicians. These props you see? They're built by the best architects here. The dress you wear? They're designed by only the best stylists here. The art you see? They're painted by the best artists here. These effects you see? They are done by the best production team. " He pauses a bit and winks, signaling that he was behind the production. "And most of all, the actors and actresses. They are acted by only the best."

Hannah could only muse as the Director spoke of the praise. "And I am glad to be a part of the best."

The Director's expression stayed fixed but Hannah could tell he acknowledged her comment. He then glanced at his watch and nodded. "We should get ready. I'll be up at the spot, looking on. Make me proud, Hannah."

And with that he departed. Hannah continued to look on where the Director used to stand, but instead was staring at a blank black wall. She exhaled slightly and stood up from her seat, straightening out her dress. As she walked to prepare herself for her next scene, she began to contemplate about her startings when she first came into Karaoke Island. The liberation of her home island was still forever imprinted in her head. However, she was finally free and wanted to pursue a brighter future for her career. There were four particular plays that she wanted to pursue at Karaoke Island, all managed by different studios and circulating within a cycle of the month so that each week was a show by a different studio. Unfortunately for her, she fell sick on her days of auditions, showing underwhelming performances. Her very first audition was with a director who she learned was the mayor's brother. Immediately, she failed the part she auditioned for and was quickly excused. The next days of auditions for the other three plays were no more successful and lead her to either being denied of the main roles or being offered very small and minor roles. She chose to accept her current Director as he offered a higher pay roll. As soon as Hannah recovered from her cold, she immediately set off to impress the Director by "accidentally" performing one of the set pieces in a practice room where the Director could overhear her. Without hesitation, he casted her as the Volcanic Sorceress, which was the part Hannah had sung to impress the Director.

I should have read the female protagonist role...

The play then began. Hannah watched from the side, waiting for her part to enter. She played the chronology of the show within her mind, whispering it to herself. "The initial plan to defeat me, I obliterate whatever attempts they try as I'm too strong and I start taking the world, the protagonists resolve and plan once more, and we have the climatic event of the final showdown."

This should all play out perfectly. Then she just had to repeat this show 5 more times.

Jake looked around, the theatre was filled to the brim with people, close to a thousand men and women, and lining the walls the about 30 of the extra gaurds hired for this event. (So many people.)
It was but a premonition, one which he had to verify immediately. He turned towards the scene and began to make his way down when suddenly a hand grabbed his shoulder at the same time as something hard poked him in the side.
”Don’t move.” A deep, whispering voice.
In the half darkness of the theatre and expectation of the next act, noone noticed what transpired, but Jake could very well guess what the man was holding in his other hand.
”If you try and interrupt I’m afraid we’ll have to precipitate the main event a little, the only difference that will make for us is that more outsiders will get caught up in it if we’re not prepared.”
He released the grip of Jakes shoulder but whatever was pressed against him remained.
”Your choice”

Jake slowly turned his head and their eyes met, cold contempt against rooted animosity, but neither one moved an inch. A quick glance down confirmed that he did indeed have a gun pointed at him. A low humming sound could be heard twice from somewhere inside the mans suit and he burst out in a malicious smile.
”The curtains are about to rise, how about we start moving towards the exit?”
He took a step backwards and gestured with his free hand for Jake to go first.
(Damn, damn, damn!)
Jake bit down on his lip to the point where a small tendril of blood apeared, but he complied and starting to walk towards the doors at the top of the stairs as the first tones sounded throught the theatre.

The antechamber lay deserted and Jake was ordered to face one of the far side walls and don’t move. Desperate thoughts flew through his head and he glanced around to find something that could help him out. Nothing, the walls, ornaments and paintings offered no aid. He lost track of time as he stood there trying to find a way out. When hope was about to run out and he looked down on the carpet he found what he’d been looking for. The shadow of the man behind him was clearly outlined, and comparing it with his own it was about two meters between them. He tensed up and focused, he knew where he had the man, the slightest opening and he’d take it.

”Purupurupuru..”
The shadow moved, and so did Jake, spinning around, drawing his sword and slashing in one fluent move. He’d seen the man hold the gun in his left hand and directed his slash at that point when he came into view. Jake could see surprise in the mans face when the gun fell away along with three of his fingers, but Jake wasn’t done, stepping in and hit him across the skull with the flatside of his sword, sending him crashing to the floor where he remained unmoving.

Jake hurried to pick up the gun, a small revolver, and rushed over to the doors to the theatre kicking them open. The play was in full swing and nearing its end. Drastic measures was to be taken immediately. Jake lifted the gun and fired three shots into the roof. Deafened by the shots Jake could not hear the screams, those of the audience and his own. ”Clear the hall!”

Then a much louder boom echoed through the theatre.

Looking at the play from a musical standpoint, Musashi was finally starting to enjoy it and stopped overthinking it. It was basically like a tone dial, without the recording feedback, and now with minor interpretive dance. To this extent, the play was excellent, the Boxer Crab fishman could expect nothing more from it. And then something was a bit off. There was nothing on stage going wrong by what he could see, but the atmosphere was starting to feel a bit off. He could have sworn that he smelled blood in the air, and didn't there used to be more guards around?

Suddenly a man came from off stage, a body guard if he recalled faces correctly. The man silenced the play and crowd by firing off three shots from a revolver, impressive tech in the blues for a hired on bodyguard, and demanded that everyone clear the hall. Out of misunderstanding he was about ready to attack the man, standing up from his seat with his eyebrows furrowing in and his circular eyes taking a more semi-circular appearance. But before Musashi could overreact, the stage did it for him. Incredibly loud explosions went off, and the overhead rafters that held up the lights began to fall.

His ears were ringing but he was standing and therefore could still move, lunging forward and leaping up impressively, before catching the rafters with all 8 of his arms and his shoulders. The weight slamming down on him was enough to bring him to his knees, and as he fell upon them with the rafters on his shoulders, he let out a command to the cast on stage, and anyone who was just backstage. "Run! Get out of here!" the Boxer Crab fishman would demand. Huffing a bit, he would get his feet to help him hoist the rafters upwards. The weight was immense, but using every muscle he had to offer, he was more than capable of raising it to heights enough to get under, with his upwards of 8 feet tall physique. He was not going anywhere though.

The on-stage crew began to run under the rafter, and production crew members were also making a break for it. People started to pour out, and Musashi couldn't help but think he was doing a good thing here. Turning his head to peer under his armpit, he noticed that the lady that had been sitting next to him had simply moved back a few rows and held a remoted in her hand. This evil, devilish grin on her face. Time would appear to slow down a bit, Musashi began to complain, "Oooooooooooh..." The grinning lady pressed the button on the remote, causing myriad of small compact spheres to fall from the ceiling and land in front of him.

"Ffffffffuuuuuuu...."

The small spheres exploded violently, harsh flames rapidly enveloping the stage and everything on it. Even in slow motion, the overtake was impressively fast, and Musashi was surrounded by a cloud of flames. Speed would return to normal as a resounding crash was heard, the rafter hitting the stage. To all outside, he was definitely a goner. Not even a man as big and strong as an 8 foot tall fishman could take that kind of heat. Anyone who was paying attention would probably have left instead of helping, if only because there was no hope. But Musashi doesn't roll like that. The large and in charge fishman would step out from the flames, licked and scorched quite admirably, but he didn't seem to notice it.

The grinning lady was no longer grinning, as she would begin her escape, standing up and jumping over the seats, and running along the tops of their backs efficiently and impressively. The Boxer Crab fishman would hop off the stage and begin pursuit, unfortunately, he would be too slow as the lady even began running along people's heads and made it through the grand enterance with ease. Must have hurt too, she did all that in heels. "Damn, she got away..." he would mutter to himself as he was cut off by the still moving mob of people. Resignation on his face once again, he would lick his index finger and put out one of his burning dreadlocks, a sizzling noise being made as he did so.

She coughed violently, waiting for her eyes to reset after the smoke wafted the entire theater.

When Hannah finally opened her eyes, she could see the already crumbling ceiling, making an entirely huge mess upon the stage. She then shifted her head, becoming shocked to see that a collapsed rafter had barely missed her head. The debris was so close to her that she could even smell its natural wood. She shook her head briefly and tried to shake off the near life and death moment. She tried to regain her composure by looking around at her surroundings. As she scanned around at the mess, she suddenly paused and gasped loudly.

She quickly knelt down near the rafter but this time moved a few inches away from her original spot. She then placed her hands under the rafter, trying to lift up the heavy wooden material that had buckled down on one of her acting partners. It was Daniel, the man whose theater character had released the Volcanic Sorceress. His cunning yet handsome face was blotched in black, blood leaking out between his lips. He weakly smiled as Hannah meekly attempted to save him.

"NO! Daniel, we'll get you out of here! I promise!" She desperately screamed. She tried to lift the rafter once more, but it refused to budge. Unfortunately, her heartfelt efforts were of no avail.

Crew members screamed as they desperately fled under the passageway that the fisherman had allowed. Including the Director who noticed Hannah had remained on stage. He stopped midway and walked up to the base of the steps leading onto the platform. He then bellowed at the top of his lungs. "Hannah! We need to get out of here! This place is about to blow! Hannah!"

By then, Hannah had released her grip on the rafters and looked at Daniel's doomed expression. She could feel an intense feeling near her heart, making her choke as her emotions began to run deep. She attempted to fight back any tears that welled up within her eyes, but couldn't hold back a few drops. Daniel continued to smile as he clenched onto Hannah's soft hand. "Don't forget...what we discussed earlier...now go...leave me."

Hannah exhaled in slight surprise when she heard the first half of his farewell. However, the smoke began to accumulate and she coughed once more. Realigning her thoughts, she nodded and slowly stood up. She wiped away her tears and tore off the cape that was attached to her dress. She then threw it near Daniel and took one last glance at his smiling expression, bursts of emotions erupting through her heart. Quickly thereafter, she departed and leapt off the stage to join the Director.

The two quickly ran at a fast pace, brushing past the fisherman who heroically held up the rafter. While Hannah was indeed impressed by the man's valiant efforts, she was too absorbed in grief and panic to pay any extra attention. As they were about to exit, another explosion occurred. This time, flames engulfed the stadium at an alarmingly fast rate. Hannah screamed as the two ran past the exit, barely making it out before the entire area was engulfed in fire.

She emerged out of the building as one of the last groups to escape the catastrophe. She quickly joined in the big crowd, all murmuring with dread and sorrow. Terrible screams and cries wailed in the atmosphere. While Hannah knew she was now safe, she could only watch the alit building bustle out heavy black smoke into the thin sky. Tragic images of Daniel's death still lingered within her mind. After a few seconds of mellowness, she began to hear whispers of the whereabouts of the fishman who had saved many lives. As the gossip flew around, everyone became more silent as they all stared at the burning building, anticipating the fate of their unlikely savior.

Suddenly, the fishman emerged from the building, scathed with a slight bit of fire but overall was unhurt. As soon as he came out, the crowd broke out into a grand applause. Shouts and praises were all directed towards the crab, acknowledging that he had indeed saved many of their lives.

Hannah subtly applauded, but she was too overcome by grief to be in an optimistic mood. Her ears perked when she heard the Director furiously screaming at one of the bodyguards. "Where are the fucking Marines!? Why haven't they arrived yet!?" It was only understandable that the Director would be the most outraged.

"They are arriving promptly, sir! Look, the fire assistance crew is here!" The bodyguard then pointed down the streets, where firefighters were swiftly running towards the spot of danger. They all arrived with their fireproof clothing and water packed gear. Immediately, they set off to work on the burning building, dousing it with intense jets of water. The Marines soon quickly followed behind.

Hannah could only continue to stare at the building as it was being washed out. Remnants of her memories began to float around her head as she silently contemplated. Who could have done this.......Just why?

Out of all the people in the theatre, Jake was the furthest from the explosion when it occured, and as such didn’t suffer anything from it, at least nothing physical. But the sight of fire, smoke, blood and panic dumbdounded him and he remained where he was as people rushed past him on each side, bumping into him in their attempts to get out as fast as possible.

Regaining his senses Jake started to work his way sideways through the crowd to where the man he’d knocked out still lay as noone in the panic had noticed him and much less decided to pick and carry him. A task that Jake now took upon himself, making his way outside with the man across his shoulders. Avoiding the tightly packed crowds by turning to the side immediately after exiting the building.

After putting the man down and leaning him against the wall Jake ripped off part of his shirt to use as bandage to stop the bleeding from the three missing fingers. It would be troublesome if he bled to death before he could be questioned. With the flow stopped Jake began to search the man for anything that could be of use in finding out who was behind all this. Barely had he found a den-den mushi which he lay on the ground beside him when the rumble of heavy boots and a series of clicking sounds could be heard right behind him.

(Oh, c’mon.)
Jake let go of the man ,slowly stood up and raised his hands above his head as he turned around, where he found himself facing a whole array of guns all pointing straight at him. The Marines had arrived and didn’t seem the least bit happy with the situation.
Jake tried to act as calm as possible and smile, but it felt as natural as a crack in a piece of porcelain.
”See, I can explain this... Or at least this guy can.” He made a slight motion with his head towards the unconscious man behind him.
(I hope.)

The fact of the matter was that a lady in the crowd had set off the bombs, Musashi had apparently been sitting next to her for the whole show. When the guy came out onto stage with a revolver and started unloading into the ceiling, and telling people to get out of the theater, the lady probably panicked that they would lose the chance to deal the damage they were looking to do. All the while, the guy was making himself an ideal distraction for the event. So Musashi couldn't tell who did it at first to stop her. The bitch made her escape very hastily too, so even when he did find her, he was unable to catch her.

Was he going to explain this to the marines? Hell no.

Heck as soon as he was out of there, the moment he heard 'Marines' his heart stopped. He didn't want to run and look suspicious. The Boxer Crab fishman couldn't simply run in this situation though, he was suspicious enough as it were being a Fishman in the blues. The bodyguard fellow who was just trying to protect people was under suspicion by the marines. Musashi was suddenly filled with distress, let some guy be wrongfully imprisoned for a time, or help him out and probably get wrongfully imprisoned.

The options were few, and he was not liking any of them. After all, what good person would just be okay with some guy going to prison for something they know they didn't do. If only he were more mean like he was 5 years ago when he threw a bunch of fishmen under the bus for the sake of becoming a warrior of Alabasta. Those guys were jerks anyways though, so really, this was a coinflip. Too bad he didn't have a coin on hand.

So Musashi did a karmic right. "Leave the guy be, he had about as much to do with this as the actors," the boxer crab would demand to the marines. "I saw who did the crime. Fiery redhead, busty, wore a hot red dress like the fire witch in the play, and most importantly, had a remote for detonating the bombs." The marines would suddenly turn their guns towards Musashi. "Put those peashooters down. I saved most of the cast from death by fiery inferno," he would say. Walking past the marines who were struck with a moral dilemma as to shoot or not, the boxer crab fishman would hold out one of his four right hands, "Hey man, I know you didn't do anything wrong. I've got your back on this. The name's Musashi." Afterwards the impending handshake, introduction, thanks, or any combination or lack thereof, the 8 armed giant would point at the unconscious man who appeared to be down a few fingers, "Who's this chump?"

"Who could have done this...?"

Both the Director and Hannah were staring at the burning building as it was doused out with jet streams of water by the firefighters. Both had their arms crossed as they watched with dismay. Though, Hannah had more mixed feelings of confusion and sorrow. Hannah took a quick glance at the Director, whose expression was stricken with complete grief. Her lips curved downward in concern. She had never seen the Director looked so miserable. It was as if he had lost his entire fortune at a casino. Hannah could somewhat understand the Director's feelings...but at the same time, she found it difficult to entirely comprehend. She couldn't find the words to sympathize with her boss.

"It might have been..." The enigmatic man could barely choke the words out as Hannah listened. "...touching too much at the controversial side. Perhaps...oh, I don't know..."

Hannah stroked the Director's left shoulder as the man emotionally collapsed. She then turned her head to observe her surroundings. She noticed the crowd was beginning to thin down as there was a loss of interest. Though, that did not prevent the media of Marines furiously writing away for a scoop. Photographers took swift snaps at nearly every angle of the crime scene while spoken news reports were flying everywhere. A line of Marines had created a barricade to prevent any citizens from explicitly viewing the trouble.

Was it really the controversy side? Could it really provoke a person enough to retaliate at this kind of magnitude? They must be some sort of hardcore culturist. What if there was more behind it? Is there a deeper motive behind this? Then there was the most important question. For such a peculiar topic...why weren't we secured and protected? She wanted answers right away. Her eye then caught a group of Marines separated from the main unit, settled around an alleyway near the burned theatre. Curious, she parted away from the Director and walked her way towards the scenario.

As she got closer, she was able to quickly recognize two people that did not wear Marine attire. One was the bodyguard who shot the bullets into the air, instigating an alarm. The other was the heroic fisherman. There was another person among them also dressed as a bodyguard, who had just woken up by a shake from a Marine. He looked like as if he was being interrogated. Before Hannah could make out more details, a stray Marine from the unit immediately blocked her way by walking in front of her. Hannah could only stare up at the burly man with contorted eyes.

"I'm sorry, but personnel authorization can only enter the scene."

In a very sassy manner, Hannah responded. "Well, I was a part of the play and almost died in there! I deserve to know what's going on here."

"Ma'm, I'm asking you to step ba-"

*FWOOM*

It sounded faint, but yet it sounded so dangerous. Everyone heard it and immediately raised their weapons in alertness. However, there was silence for a few seconds. And then...a sudden gasp was let out. Hannah directed her head to the gasp. All eyes were on the man who had been apprehended. His eyes suddenly became increasingly bloodshot, his eyeballs shifted upwards in an uncontrollable fashion, foamy white fluid leaked from his lips as he tried to cough, and his body began to twitch frenziedly. The Marine holding the man pulled out a small cylindrical case that was stuck onto his neck. It was dangerously colored green, with a sharp needle protruded from one side, spewing out a drop of a mysteriously clear liquid. Hannah watched as the Marine widened his eyes and he frantically screamed.

"MEDICAL ASSISTANCE!!!"

Hannah knew where the attack came from and quickly turned her head. At the top of a tall building across from them, she saw a shadowy cloaked figure whom had just turned its body away from the scene, walking in a devious manner. Immediately, Hannah pointed at the figure and screamed. "There! He must have shot him!"

The Marine who blocked Hannah also noticed and quickly issued a command. A unit of about 5 Marines prepped themselves and quickly followed the leader as they chased after the direction of the cloaked figure. As Hannah watched the unit and cloaked figure disappear, she could hear the wheezing from the man had ceased. Knowing what that meant, Hannah quickly turned around to see a medical team had surrounded him, pushing away everyone else who had stood close to him. Now that her path had been freed, Hannah approached the scene, standing next to where both the fisherman and bodyguard were standing.

"He's dead..." A man, who appeared to be the Senior Medical Officer, disappointedly stood from his knelt spot and packed up his bag. "Mark the time and date of death. We'll conduct a quick biopsy on this man later today for cause of death." An agreement came from another doctor.

Before Hannah could intervene, a declarative voice interrupted her. "What seems to be the issue?"

Another Marine came from the burned building and walked into the crowd. Hannah observed that this Marine was dressed differently from all the other Marines. While his physique didn't look any different, his determined expression made him stand out from other Marines. He wore a cap and had dark hair, only wearing a beard that extended to his chin.

The Medical Officer promptly responded. "Lieutenant Cook! We just captured a suspect to this catastrophe! But...he just died from an unprecedented assault! A poison dart, sir!"

"Hmm...I see." He placed his right arm on his chin, brushing his beard. The Medical Officer and other Marines then shared their input, filling in the Lieutenant on what had happened. Hannah could hear that they were constantly referencing the fisherman and the bodyguard. As the Lieutenant was briefed, he repeatedly made looks towards the two bystanders. Hannah felt slightly awkward as she was just there but continued to watch.

"Seems like our delinquents don't want any of their men spilling the beans." Suddenly, his tone turned from observant to declarative. "Hunt down this murderer! We need to narrow this down as soon as possible and hold whoever is responsible for this mess! Conduct a quick scan on that poison dart and bring me the results as soon as possible! In the name of justice, we will answer to the ones who have fallen!"

In the name of justice? Are you absolutely shitting me? Hannah incredulously thought. She certainly acknowledged the man's determination, but there was something missing that made his work seemed like a bloated load of shit. The lieutenant then jabbed his index finger towards both the fisherman and bodyguard. "You two! Stick around. After we are done cleaning up here, I will be asking you some questions that will help our investigation here. All evidence you give out will help us in every aspect. Round up men!"

The Marines picked up the dead man and the dart with them and began to make their way out, leaving alone Hannah and the two bystanders. Finally unable to contain herself, Hannah blurted out. "Except you're not."

The Lieutenant paused as his ears perked. There was a few seconds where he paused and continued to stare forward as if he was shocked by lightning. The Marines all turned silent and looked back and forth from Hannah and the Lieutenant. Cook then turned his body around, knowing exactly who had challenged his authority. "Excuse me?"

Hannah wasn't afraid to continue. "You're not doing your best...Lieutenant."

Cook raised his eyebrows as Hannah spoke. He then curved his lips as if he was about to burst in laughter. "...I don't know who you are, citizen. But I understand that you are upset of what had just happened. We are the Crime Investigation Branch and we have done a meticulous job of finding assholes who have caused these sorts of atrocities. Our record is impressive in catching criminals and we will see to it that it keeps untarnished. I assure you, our assiduous efforts are nothing but the best."

That wasn't the point. Still unsatisfied and actually almost pissed, she raised her voice in response. "This wouldn't have happened in the first place if you had Marine security around the theatre instead of just newly hired bodyguards!"

Then his expression turned serious. Hannah knew she had just challenged his ethics and she was going to press forward. "That is the Director's fault for not hiring us beforehand."

And she knew why the Director didn't hire them beforehand. "So what? You refused to protect the well-being of your people because your paycheck didn't get an extra fortune?"

A few of the Marines that watched widened their eyes. Oh, she just went there. Hannah's expression remained resolute when the Lieutenant's composure remained fixed. He walked up towards Hannah and bent his body down to carefully examine the girl. With a deeper and darker tone, he still spoke with respect.

"...Woman, don't tell me what I can do for my job."

Out of nowhere, a fishman invaded the semicircle of marines, drawing their attention unto himself with his declaration that he’d seen the person who was directly responsible for the incident. But what put Jake off was the fishmans friendlyness towards him, and could but extend his right hand in respone. ”Th-Thanks. And I don’t know really.”

*FWOOM*
An ominous sound.
Jake turned to see the a greenish syringe pierce the neck of the man he’d knocked out and brought here. It was on reflex that he spun around while reaching back over his right shloulder with to grab... nothing.
(Dammit!)
But he could see the shadowy figure looking down upon them from on top of the building across the street. There was a sudden burst of activity when the marines quickly got together, forming a pursuit party that set off after the assailant. Jake would have gone too if he wasn’t preoccupied as it was. Instead he forced himself to relax and look back at the former suspect, now victim, who drew his last couple of breaths before he died, and with him the only solid lead they had.

Then the commanding officer made his appearance. Lieutenant Cook eh? He and the marines at the scene got together and recapitulated. Jake could hear that they were talking about him and the fishman, now and then did lieutenent glance over at them where they stood. And when they were done, he straightened himself and dished out orders on how they would proceed.

And that was when the magic word for every marine made its appearance, Justice. Hearing the word used in such a manner as the lieutenant just had brought back Jakes aversion for Marines. It was their sense of ’justice’, if it could be called that, being the inverse of what Jake thought apropriate.

And it seemed like he wasn’t the only one to think that way, as a young woman, Jake recognized her as one of the main actressess, began to voice her opinion, much to the annoyance of the liutenant who didn’t seem the least amused by it and retorted in a sout tone. Further bolstering Jakes opinion on the marines and their way of working.

When the lieutenent seemed to become up close and personsal, Jake stepped forward, in a non-agressive manner and placed himself right of to the side inside the lieutenants personal sphere. He seemed all the more irritated when he turned towards Jake, who though he didn’t express anything of the kind took full advantage of the extra centimeters he had on the liuetenant to look down on him.
”And what do you want?”
Jake felt sure that the wrong answer here would earn him a black eye, and managed only by pure effort to remain nonchalant when he said.
”I just wanted to say that I completely agree with the lady here.”
The lieutenant just stared at him with the same sour expression before breaking up in laughter.
”Pfahahaha! To hear that from a contractor! Kids these days. Ha!”
Still chuckling he turned away from Jake and rejoined the ranks of marines.

The scene thusly unfolded much akin to the theatrical performance he's been watching minutes ago. A bunch of low paygrade background characters dressed in cheap, standard issue outfits poured into the scene like water filling a jar, as the real stars clad in more memorable garb would play out the actual scene. Musashi forgot that he was one of the stars of the scene and just watched it all play out. The justice of the Marines was once again spoiled by money and corruption, as the only decent source of info was murdered before everyone's eyes. The citizen was driven to rage by hypocrisy while the wandering bounty hunter was mocked for his views.

Suddenly, Musashi realised that he was living this drama, and as the only Marine worth mentioning walked off, still laughing. It was distressing to hear someone so used to the haze here that they could laugh so hard, and waste this precious air mocking the common man. "Sickening..." Musashi would comment beneath his breath. He would turn and start to walk off, "I need to find someone." His voice was full of this somber rage, something was clearly up.

A few marines would step in and try to stop him, "Hey, sir, the Lieutenant commanded you to stay here. Please comply or we'll have to place you under arr-" Musashi was not having any of it, as the small crowd of marines was floored just by him pushing them aside. "No marine will ever command a warrior like myself," he would growl at them, his voice like gravel against their ears making them quiver. Musashi would then continue onwards, leaving the marines on their asses, cowering like the sheep they were. No other marines tried to intercept him for fear he react worse.

He left the scene without saying anything at all it would seem.

However, this was not where he just left. Musashi had backtracked himself a bit to find the place where he gave away the second ticket. Sure enough, the girl that he'd given it to was sitting, forlorn in the same place, begging for change. However, something seemed off. Earlier, this girl was very active about her change begging, and very full of life. It was why he gave her the ticket. But now she held her head low, and he couldn't even see her eyes. Kneeling down next to her, Musashi spoke. "Hey, what's wrong? I didn't see you at the show," he would inquire. The young lady sniffled lightly and looked up at the familiar voice, "Oh. Mr. 8-Arms. Why are you here, the show should still be going on."

Musashi lightly gasped as she looked up and spoke, a freshly blackened eye, no more than a few hours old. "Who hit you?" he would ask immediately, not answering her question. The young girl, who's name he didn't even know would put her head back down. "I don't know her name. Some deplorable red-headed bitch just stomped over some few minutes after you gave me the ticket and started trying to take it from me. I defended myself but she punched me in the face, saying it was a gift from the mayor or something. Crazy bimbo, probably doesn't even know the mayor..." Musashi would twist his moustache-like tendrils as he listened to her story...

"I see, so this woman was the one who was sitting next to me," he would comment. Sighing lightly, he would stand back upright. "Alright then, I'll bring that woman to justice," he would say. "And none of that cliche marine justice. I'll find her and rend her asunder for her crimes," he would declare mightily. Then he would kneel back down, "Ehhh, but first, where does the mayor live?" The young lady would reach her cup out, and with a comically businesslike tone of voice, said, "That'll be ::beli:: 100, mister~!" A comical sweatdrop formed on Musashi's head.
