as a person who just got Haki I has a question about how exactly it works just for clarification.

so if I use an Armament Haki Tech that makes my arm or body coated in Haki so it's strong as Iron, and I get hit with a tech that breaks Iron what happens?

also what happens with other combinations of this situation?
(Stronger Haki hit with a weaker breaking tech (Steel haki, VS Iron Breaking Tech/// Iron Haki Tech VS Steel Breaking Tech))

Kay, this is a very "case by case" situation like most combat is. So bear in mind there is no "absolute" answer to these questions- but I'll do my best to give you a good covering to help you understand.

If you have a Iron coating and you get hit with an Iron Cutting technique it will cut through your material layer- but be weakened from when it would have hit you normally. This comes down to the situation, difference in stats, and the techniques rank used. (Say a R44 that breaks Tier I Material but has several other effects like intense knockback, etc. It would do -alot- more damage than a standard R14 Tier I breaker.)

If you have a Steel Haki vs an Iron-Breaking Technique, it is extremely unlikely they cut you. They may cut into the layer of "Steel" to a minor degree but they likely wont bleed you- again it comes down to stats, ranks and situation however.

A Iron Haki vs an Steel-Breaking Technique, is likely to slice through your Iron like butter and cut you as if there was no protection at all, essentially. But as before- you get the drill, situation, ranks and stats come into play heavily.

okay well what if a high ranked Iron haki was used?

using my rank 43 haki tech as a benchmark (full body Iron) getting hit by iron breaking or steel breaking techs of lower rank? (just trying to understand the nuance here)

Really, Iron is Iron. No matter the ranking- so if you go into a seriouse SL like a plot or an ME a Narrator can easily tell you to deal with it and Iron is Iron. Meaning the low-Rank Iron-buster still cuts you anyway.

However, on the flip-side few will do that in all likelyhood and you'll just have a "Stronger Iron" thats alot harder to cut. They'd probably still cut into it, just not as easily and it would weaken the blow by alot more essentially.

It's something left up to the RP itself, honestly. Technique interactions isn't just cut and dry. Oftentimes you need to compare more than just technique ranks in interactions. You need to take RP factors, Stats, traits, and environment into account as well. There is no "Cut and dry" technique interaction ever.

What if his sword is cracked and he's slashing at you with an iron breaking technique? What if his sword is severely damaged structurally? What if you counter with your iron armor and a technique of your own?

What if lightning strikes when you two clash?

ROLEPLAY IT OUT. This is all I ask. You will never be "lol i'm a god and u can't hurt me!!!!" and they will never be "lol I'm a god and I can cut u in half instantly no matter whut u do!"

Everything is in the details.
