So new multiclass trait idea, questions comments go? Field Medic - requirements Doctor Primary any martial profession secondary. a man of medicine and war. A field medic is a doctor that has spent a great deal of time on the front lines and knows that sometimes the difference between victory and defeat comes down to a single man. These doctors are able to use up to 1/2 their fortune on medical techniques that not only heal the patient but also give them a bit of extra pep in their step. Now's not the time for a nap ladies walk it off! Basically you can use up to 1/2 your fortune on medicines or salves that do both a doctors buff as well as healing injuries based on rank. Think of it like a reverse critical hit technique, where as critical hit does damage and a debuff this heals and buffs. |

"Healing" is a poor choice of words. It implies something akin to regeneration which is outright denied without a devil fruit's powers. Doctors, even with fairly shounen drugs and techniques, cannot regenerate people's wounds. "Treating" is a better word choice for this. Like bandaging someone quickly to stop bleeding. You didn't fix their flesh and make it meld together again, you simply aided it in healing on its own. It's a tricky subject to get into and is best avoided without the appropriate supernatural backing of either a high powered devil fruit or life return (and I'm not entirely certain about life return). |

While this is making me fangasm over the idea, from a systematic analysis, the ability to heal and buff in the same technique is already saving people TP and focus, so if you add free TP on top, it's like the trait is giving away the equivalent of 1 fortune, not just 1/2 fortune. But aside from the TP giveaway, brilliant idea. |

As someone who has a character with the doctor profession and with a past history of being a field medic for the marines, it would be great to have something to back that off as a trait. However, considering the Special TP is out of question, the trait will be just a better version of Skilled Use of Medicine where you can both buff and aid/treat and doesn't really justify the multiple discipline requirement. At the same time, I feel like being able to freeform that treatment while temporarily buffing him since this person would be used to work fast in order to send people to the front lines back into the fight, would be much fitting. That buff would basically be used passively out of a technique you had, much like Ansatsuken. Not sure if this would pass but, that's my idea and opinion. Based on what happened with Critical Hit, I can honestly say that this trait is too much. As has been pointed out, Critical Hit doesn't give STP, so that it goes without saying that it's inclusion here makes the trait too profitable. Secondly, it has the feel of being too good. It is analogous to Critical Hit, yes, but that doesn't mean that it's the same in terms of balance. A Critical Hit only gets it's benefit when it lands, which means that a single technique will often have to be used several times to get it's extra effect. This will effectively always land when it's used. Effectively, as soon as you get the trait, you just point at any pre-existing buff technique and say "also it makes you better", which just sort of turns the trait into an automated defense sort of thing. Finally, it promotes the whole Doctors as a Combat Class idea even more. I'd really like to get away from Multi-Disciplining support profession primary with martial profession secondary because what you end up with is a subversion of the support role. This feels too much like 'doctor without this trait is stupid doctor' and I really don't want to push things any further in that direction than they've already gone. |

theres been a bit of misunderstanding here, this trait doesn't give special TP it lets the person use up to 1/4 their fortune to uf and teat wounds. So basically with this trait you could use your own tp to make at most 1 max rank technique, was also thinking the buff would have a reduced crowd tier like 1 lower than normal so a 1 target buff does 2-5 in terms of crowd tiers ect. But since there were some decent reasoning against it I suppose it wasn't meant to be. Still just wanted to clarify this trait was never intended to give special TP on top of its benefit. Would also like to point out you can technically already do this as a doctor, just apply a buff the same post you apply the medical treatment technique, all this trait does it let you do that a bit more efficiently. |
