The small dining room that Donkey was seated in was nice and cozy. He was at a wooden table with 5 seats around it. There were some glasses of water, and a menu standing up in the middle between two bottles of different sauces. Around him were 5 or 6 other tables, some of them occupied, and others empty. It was a nice, small, family run casual diner. It had soft colors, with a lot of wooden furniture. Donkey wondered if the soft colors were because they were on Gesso island. Colors were pretty damn expensive around here. In front of him, there was a peculiar white construct. He was delicately placing small white packets that had 'sugar' printed on the side in black letters. He would lean two against each other to make a small triangle. He would then build another triangle next to it. With these two serving as the foundation, he would gently place another packet across the top. Upon this, he built another small triangle using the sugar packets. His eyes were focused entirely on the structure in front of him. Gary was probably nearby as well, but Donkey only had eyes for his building. Suddenly, from the corner of his vision, Donkey saw something terrifying. All of his effort was about to be marginalized by the impending doom of a small trickle of water. The water glass had condensed water rolling down the sides and forming a small pool at the base that stretched ever closer to his sugar castle. If packet met wet, the building would collapse. With incredible speed, Donkey reached out and grabbed a paper towel. He then slammed it down on the small puddle of water and began mucking it about with the paper instrument. Small pieces of the towel rolled off as the got wet and were pressed too hard against the table. Donkey wasn't daunted though. He continued with his furious smudging until the the threat of water was a thing of the past. With a relieved sigh, he turned back to his efforts, only to be filled with despair. The force from him slamming the paper towel down on the table had caused the packets to shake, and inevitably fall down. Donkey threw his head back in shame, as he tugged at the sides of his hair. He nearly cried out in agony, but he muffled his sadness with one of his forearms. So much effort, so much time, all for naught. He had spent a whole five minutes to stack up those sugar packets! What else was he supposed to do while he was waiting? Oh yeah, Donkey was waiting in the diner for someone. That might be a bit more important than his table top building project. He and Gary had finally, well actually, he had finally been assigned to a marine division. Gary was going to tag along, of course. They were meeting up with their new comrades from The Underdogs. It sure sounded like a fun group. Normally they'd meet at a marine base, but Donkey felt a diner was much more comfortable. "Are they here yet?!" Donkey slumped forward, resting his head on the table so that his eyes faced the door. He let out an exasperated sigh. Donkey was not one to be patient. |

"Ahh, it's quiet.." Gary had muttered more to himself than anyone else, but he almost seemed disappointed when no one responded. Donkey had been off in his own world, occupying his incredibly short attention span by stacking sugar packets into a house of cards. Or would it be a house of sweets? Gary didn't really care. He was the type to be patient if he could help, which he certainly could given that he had no time constraints for the day. The duo was still on Gesso for the purposes of defeating the local crime and obtaining the yellow paints they needed to save Teufort. Gary was gradually becoming more and more unhappy while on the island, given that it turned all of his clothing white whenever it rained. He had taken to wearing a large overcoat with a heavy-hanging hood, and that managed to keep the most of the weather out of his hair and eyes and face. Still, it clung heavy to the garb and made it necessarily heavy. "Hm.." Gary reached into his coat pocket and produced a small envelope. He stared at it idly for a few seconds before he opened it. The lid of it was already worn looking and the paper noticeably creased, though the note seemed brand new otherwise. Inside was a folded letter, which also showed surprising amounts of creasing despite being a brand new piece of paper. On it was a very formal bit of text that implored Gary to officially join the marines, wanting to enlist his useful services and fight for the greater justice and bla bla bla. Gary was all for helping people, but he couldn't be sure of whether the militaristic group was for him. Their ideals were questionable at times, and Gary knew very little about the organisation as a whole. All he knew at this point was that Donkey was a marine, and Donkey was a pretty good guy. So that was one point for the marines in the form of friendship, and one against in the form of having no information. Probably the greatest quandary Gary had experienced in his life. Without opening the paper for a millionth time Gary closed the envelope and placed it back in his coat pocket, sighing quietly as his eyes moved back to his friend. Donkey had managed to ruin his house of sweetness by way of trying to save it, and Gary had to keep from chuckling to avoid offending the slightly-sensitive racer. Instead he leaned forward and placed his elbows on the table, his face resting on his palms while he smiled in his usual whimsical manner. "Doesn't seem so. Maybe we should have ordered lunch?" He knew his comment wouldn't placate Donkey, but it might take his mind off of the boredom he was experiencing. And it would give Gary a reprieve from worrying about his future and the decisions that shaped it. |

Nervous was an understatement. As he headed towards the assigned meeting point for his new team, Kazuki’s stomach was riddled with butterflies………as was the rest of him, geddit?!?! He tried to have breakfast that morning but he found there wasn’t much he had the stomach for, he’d been in a fairly constant state of disequilibrium since learning about the new posting only days earlier. He’d half expected Rothschild to be screwing with them when he’d said he would be recommending promotions after the fiasco that had been reverse mountain, but true to his word when they had returned it had been made official, Kazuki now a captain of the marines. And along with it they had given him his own team, the underdogs, though the idea of being officially in charge of a unit was more than a little terrifying. Just the 10 recruits he’d had to look after thus far had weighed heavy on his conscience, this number now upped to 25 to go along with the new posting. There was no denying it, things were really changing. Fortunately there would be at least one familiar face there, robin having been stuck with the same posting, though considering their escapades still freshly engraved upon memory he was definitely going to have to keep a closer watch that guy didn’t get anyone blown up. An honest man, if not a little hot headed at times. As he entered the restaurant he felt his stomach lurch at the foreboding prospect ahead, of the two of them it seemed he had arrived first, and holding up the pictures of the teams other members he looked around to spot them. It was actually a surprisingly simple task, all other diners looking like back ground characters compared to the brightly dyed hair and animalistic features of his newest comrade, toying with condiments with autistic enthusiasm. Also sat at the table was another face but this one kaz found to be entirely unrecognizable, he was almost certain he’d not been listed, was this actually the wrong table? Oh god was he even in the right restaurant? What was he supposed to do if he just turned up and joined the wrong marine team? He’d end up fired on his first day before even starting. Deciding to bite the bullet since he was here now, he made his way over, stopping stood behind a chair he greeted the table with a warm smile ”Would you be The Underdogs?” not even sure he was being listened to by the one person he thought he recognized as the man scrubbed at the table as though trying to scrape away the shame after a one night stand. |

Robin followed in after Kazuki, his arms crossed over his chest while standing behind the man. He was dressed as normal in western apparel, with brown leather boots, dark jeans a button up square patterenered shirt of many shades of blue and white, and even a brown leather duster jacket with tassles on the bottom and around the sleeves. While all that and the cowboy hate he wore were pretty typical the scowl he had wasn't normal at all for him. He had been in a pretty sour mood for quite some time ever since that last mission. While he was pretty damn glad to have a partner now he couldn't help feel a little pissed off about the outcome of the last mission. Despite the huge promotion and the fact that they were even going to send him a devil fruit in the mail to help keep up with Kazuki he still felt like a failure and had been taking it out on everyone else. "These dogs don't seem like much Kazuki. You sure the marines didn't decide to just put us some place where we won't be able to fuck things up?" |

Donkey jumped up onto his chair, knees bouncing against the table and causing a clatter. Forks, glasses, and other tabletop necessities wobbled precariously from the impact, but nothing fell over. "Are there dogs under the table!?" Donkey cautiously leaned over to catch a glimpse at the legroom beneath the table. He was worried about these 'underdogs' that both of these random strangers seemed to see. Wait a second, who the hell were these dumb butts? They were dressed like a bunch of hooligans. "Wow, way to trick me. Can you not bother us? We're here on official marine business so I'm going to have to ask you to quietly walk away." Donkey scoffed and turned back to Gary. "Some people..." Due to the lack of any indicator that these men were marines, Donkey was being fairly rude. To be fair though, he was under the impression that he had just been tricked by random strangers. "So yeah, I wonder when they will get here... Who makes Special Agent Donkey Kick wait anyways? Rude." Lowering his legs back beneath the table, Donkey reached out and grasped his glass of water. He took a large gulp, and let it sit in his mouth because it was nice and cool. He certainly wasn't preparing for a spit take or anything like that. |

"Dogs? What?" Gary was only slightly put off by Donkey having ignored him, but the more important matter was trying to figure out who these two new dudes were. Donkey had gone straight to an absurd and extreme conclusion, which actually made him look rather slow in the head. So Gary had to do a bit of the heavy lifting in that department. Instead of jumping up out of fright like a goon, he recalled the name of the new division Donkey was being assigned. "Underdogs?" Yeah, that was probably it. Gary was beaming as he stood from his chair, giving a slight bow before moving around the table and extending one hand. 'Politeness was next to godliness', his mother would say. However, while rude to look away from the people he was speaking to, he turned his head slightly and looked to Donkey. Then he nodded his head and spoke in a tone that was just above a polite whisper. "Donkey, these guys are the ones who made us wait." He left it up to his friend to make the final leap and present himself. |

They were there only seconds before robin grumpily announced his view on the new candidates, both loud and tactlessly which was perhaps not the choicest first words they could have hoped to exchange with each other. ”Now now, lets try to get along a little better, we have a lot of work to do together” In all honesty though he couldn’t be completely sure that wasn’t exactly what the navy had done, and part of him probably wouldn’t have blamed them had that been the case, though fortunately the words seemed to roll off the pair like water off a ducks back. Suddenly the table was flying upwards and chairs were clattering all around as the sucrose architect leapt to his feet, howling about dogs under the table, while Kazuki momentarily baffled by the leap took a moment to comprehend that particular train of thought. Once he did he suddenly robins words seemed far more likely than he would have hoped, though it seemed canine fears aside their introductions met a dead end, spurned at the first hurdle. That said, special agent donkey kick? There was no one of that rank listed on the personnel sheet, they hadn’t really managed to walk to the wrong table had they? They only other table occupied by marines in probably the whole diner, no surely not, donkey kick surely couldn’t be so common a name it belonged to two people, was he incorrect then? Was it actually this guy sent to watch over him while he was just given the title of captain for show. Too many questions, and they’d not even managed to get past greetings yet, it was surely too early for this sort of thing. Fortunately the silent partner who only watched till that point stood and extended a hand, which Kazuki gratefully took and shook, possibly shaking donkey’s hand too should he hold it out, if that was how special agents introduced themselves. ”I am Captain Kazuki, and this is commander Robin. I look forward to working together.” he took care for the most part of introducing robin simply because he didn’t much trust how it would go with the mans already sour mood ”Could you give us a rundown of the work you’ve been doing here” taking a seat now the formalities were out the way. |

Robin nearly groaned in annoyance at Kazuki's words. He wasn't feeling all that social currently given his mood and his expectations were at bare minimum. Luckily Donkey and Gary were there to meet that minimum. He tossed a look to Kazuki as the man tried to defend them but Donkey and Gary didn't seem to be more than common idiots. His eyes were bored and sarcastic somehow implying they were being rolled without even rolling them. Sighing he placed his face into his palm and shook his head as Kazuki carried on while they went about looking for literal dogs. "We're really going to need to work you guys into shape." Robin said with a determined glare at the two. He wasn't used to dealing with problem groups and thats exactly where it seemed they had been put. Hell they'd even been informed their division was going to be named the underdogs. The marine headquarters had practically spelled out exactly what they thought of them. Robin would one day be a top dog however or die trying. He hated the taste of failure that this had left on him. Just as he was about to rant however a person came up from behind him. Tapping him on the shoulder he nearly startled the ever living crap out of Robin but as the cowboy turned around he managed to maintain a calm and collected facade. "What is it?" Looking the boy up and down he appeared to be about in his early teens and dressed up like a sailor. "Commander Robin? We had a packaged delivered to you by the News Coo."It was true too as the boy held in his hands a brown box, taped up and stamped with the marine insignia. Reaching out he took the box from the kid and nodded letting him know he wasn't needed anymore. Turning back around he looked at Kazuki and the even the others happily. "Well lets see what I got." He had known from before that the marines were going to send him a devil fruit to help keep up with Kazuki but he wasn't sure what type and was interested in seeing what they decided would fit him. Opening the package's sealed top he tore through it and found within a extremely weird looking lime or lemon. It was hard to tell what exactly it was due to it being purple with orange spirally rings all over it. Also in the box was a small note. Setting the box on a small table meant for drinks and far away from the chaos of those two recruits Robin pulled out the card and read it. As he read it though his expression faded to disappointment. "Devil fruit, zoan type: Weasel." Sighing he set the card down. Honestly this was just one big disappointment on top of the next. While zoans made people stronger physically which was useful especially for him as he wanted to master all of rokushiki, the idea of being a weasel was just silly at best and insulting at worst since being called a weasel was generally an insult. However you couldn't really look a gift horse in the mouth so instead of complaining he grabbed the small fruit into his hand and tore into the worst thing he'd ever eaten in his life. Forcing a large chunk of it down, he tossed the remains back in the box. "Huh I don't feel any different." He commented trying to detect any change in himself but finding none. |

Donkey spit his water into the air, creating a momentary mist. He wasn't really sure what he was surprised at, but he was surprised by something. Probably the fact that the men he had just been mouthing off too were his superiors, but there's no way Donkey could possibly be embarrassed and wary of his actions. That'd be way too responsible of him. "Ah.. ah yes. A rundown of our stuff on the island thingy and stuff. Yes. Hmmm..." Before Donkey could finish a proper sentence and address the two gentleman, the group was rudely interrupted. For some reason, they were inexplicably joined by a marine delivery boy. Not only did this boy know the exact location they were meeting at, which was only known by the four of them, but he had identified one of the men as well. Sure, the guy could have told the boy, and the boy could have known him, but from their interactions it did not seem to be so. This young mail delivery marine must be some kind of savant to have delved into the unknown and emerged successful. Now what could be inside this bizarre package? Surely something trivial since they had sent this meager lad to deliver it on an island known to be under control by criminals. Surely they wouldn't risk sending something valuable by hand. That would be absurd. Nope. The box had a devil fruit. The marines had sent one of the rare, mysterious and powerful magic fruits in the hands of a young man in a mere cardboard box. Who in the hell would mail a devil fruit? Before that, why not leave it in a secure place, like a marine base and simply have the marine walk to pick it up? Instead they send it with a boy to track down a singular marine at a location that they didn't know? Preposterous! Madness I tell you! What intelligent being would do such a thing?! Insanity at its finest. While Donkey was baffled by the seemingly autistic superiors who were mailing around devil fruits, the man quickly consumed some of his newly acquired treat. From what he said, it was a zoan, so Donkey was able to sympathize a bit when he heard what type. It was a pretty shitty one, so that brought some light as to why they'd mail it, but it was still a totally irresponsible thing to do. After consuming it, the guy seemed unable to transform into his zoan form. Odd. It was easy when Donkey had eaten his. An almost instinctual thing to do. He just... sort of knew how once he ate the fruit, like he had been able to the whole time. Well, time to lend a hand. Explaining the mission could wait. "You just kinda do this." With the contorting of muscles and a sudden growth spurt, Donkey just kinda splooshed into a giant gleaming horse with a bunch of legs and a majestic horsey face. He clomped all over the table, breaking it and making a mess. With a shinny he turned to his new companions and smiled. "Neeeeeeeeigh. I'm a horse." |

"Gary Stella, and of course that's Donkey Kick. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Mr. Kazuki." Gary nodded more out of politeness than agreement when Captain Kazuki asked for information on the state of things, and Gary would have gladly gone into specifics had he been given the chance. Instead his gaze focused quickly on the cowboy, Gary's smirk not moving a centimeter when the man was clearly insulting Gary and Donkey. It wasn't entirely untrue that Donkey himself was unorthodox, and perhaps a bit goofy at times, but that didn't make him a bad marine. And Gary, well, this Robin fellow should have had no reason to condemn him so quickly. Still, Gary was always supposed to be a gentleman, so he kept his issues to himself. Instead he would do something more productive, and he was turning to address the good Captain's previous question when some young boy stepped into their space. "How did this boy find us?.." Gary was well aware that this meeting was not a public affair, and it had even been arranged in an impromptu and not entirely official way. And then somehow this boy had found out the location and infiltrated it with no trouble.. "A spy." Gary relaxed with that realization. It was with identifying the enemy that Gary was most at ease, and this was no different. He was something of an expert on infiltration himself, and so he felt he had this young man all figured out. The boy hid his skills under a meek exterior, and he used his act as a marine to get close to his targets, which was not unlike a hired killer. Gary sized him up as best he could, trying to ascertain if the boy would have any hidden weapons, but his clothing didn't give much in that department. No, if this kid had anything dangerous, it was most likely in that box. But the box was a package for the cowboy, so it was most likely empty. Yeah, a decoy box. Gary wasn't about to let on that he knew what the spy was up to, so he held his ground and just stared at the supposed marine package. He watched with eyes that were careful and practiced, though his overall expression didn't change. As Robin began to open it up, he could only think that there was definitely not a devil fruit insi- "Oh." Gary felt...a bit embarrassed. Then he felt confused. Why on earth would the marines just mail a high-priority devil fruit and give it to some random courier? It was far too valuable to just pass along like that. Weren't the marines better than this? Gary let out a sharp sigh, though he was careful to keep it quiet so as to not be rude. Still, he was surprised by the marine's carelessness. He watched on as the man ate the fruit without any second thoughts, completely unfazed by the straight events that had transpired. Then the cowboy went on to say he didn't feel any different, which is admittedly what most devil fruit users say when they first eat the disgusting super-powered things. "It should kick in real soon. It will feel like an innate knowledge that you've always had." Rather than sound flabbergasted, Gary was trying to be assuring now. I mean, he wanted to get along, even if he didn't have any particularly positive feelings for this Robin guy. |

”And yours ensign kick and stella” Though he’d not received a report about this gary fellow it was surely just a filing error, and a shame too since he seemed the most well mannered of the bunch which in a gathering that included a grown man with the attitude of an angsty preteen and another who he was pretty sure was still searching out non existant dogs it was somewhat of a saving grace. Kazuki felt a slight sense of elation as finally it appeared they were getting somewhere, Ensign kick though stumbling over his words a little seemed to be gathering his thoughts to explain the situation. But as with most positive aspects of this meeting it was incredibly short lived. A voice piped up to their rear and Kazuki looked back to see a strange boy handing robin an ominous box, now why youthful adolescents would be giving the redneck gifts was a question he didn’t have an answer for, and was somewhat hesitant to look into but just as the enigmatic nature of their relationship strayed perilously close to obscure he caught sight of the marine insignia on the parcel and at least some of his concerns were abated. What it was HQ could be sending him the captain had no idea, he’d been notified of nothing heading their way though he could half believe it was some explosive device to just go ahead and put an end to any future damages though could cause before it happened. Though in the midst of a busy restaurant surrounded by families the likelihood of that scenario definitely dropped some. Though when he did come to open the box the contents were more surprising than he’d even dared imagine, plucking a fruit from within it’s skin patterned with swirls in a scheme Kazuki knew only too well. ”Are you sure you want to do th-“ attempting to warn robin and have him consider the implications of becoming a devil fruit user before making the radically life altering decision but in true red neck fashion he’d taken a bite before the marine could even finish his sentence so that was pretty much done and dusted. Much like the many who had preceded him robin felt little in the way of immediate effects from the snack, and being a zoan type kaz wasn’t much in a position to help him with coming to grips with it. Not that he would have picked now, in the middle of a introductory meeting to really start trying to do that, maybe in like 20 minutes when they actually knew a little more about what they were sent here to do and were perhaps not in an incredibly public venue surrounded by civilians. But hey ho, it wasn’t exactly the worst in the way of blunders they had to their name so no use crying over spilt milk. Fortunately though they did have someone here with some experience in the use of zoans or two in fact, both stella and kick piping up to give an explanation on how to use his new found abilities thought kick’s being somewhat more visual than audible. Shocked gasps echoed round the room in the wake of a clattering crash as the table was shattered and in it’s place stood a creature that announced itself as a horse, but Kazuki had without doubt never seen a horse with 8 legs. ”..whaaaa?” last syllable dying in his mouth as he simply stared in shock, however this lapse of function was not allowed to linger long as a waitress stormed up to him red in the face “What do you people think your doing? You’re disturbing the other customers, pay for the table and get out before you break something else” ”Sorry sorry, I will take full responsibility. You will be fully compensated for all damages I promise, and we’ll be sure not to let it happen again, so if you could please forgive us this one time I would be most grateful” Flashing his most warming smile in an attempt to quell a rising temper he spoke words that a small voice in the back of his head told him he would be repeating like a mantra in the near future. Fortunately with the promise of compensation she seemed for the moment satisfied and after gesturing that she’d be keeping an eye on them went back to her business. Clasping his head with a sigh of relief he returned to the situation at present. He’d considered flashing his badge to calm here but he really didn’t want to tarnish their name as marines with this little episode. ”No horseplay at the table, go back to the you with not 8 legs. There’ll be oppertunities for this later but now is not the time or place, please give your report on whats happening here ensign kick” it was a really odd feeling making the request of an 8 legged horse, an incredibly surreal situation but that words pretty much summed up the majority of his life since becoming a marine he was starting to think he might actually be getting a little used to it. |

Robin was surprised to say the least as Donkey turned into a horse, a horse with 8 legs in fact. That was double the amount he'd even seen on a horse. The weirdest part however was that from the guy's name he would have imagined him with the donkey zoan. Of course he couldn't say much in that department as they should have given him by that logic the red robin zoan. However despite the wreckage around the room which was quite impressive he couldn't help but warm up a little toward the two recruits. Sure they were irresponsible and probably not going to be the easiest to work with but they were good nature guys it seemed and at least eager. Finally a smile appeared on his face. "Thanks for the tips." Deciding that Kazuki was doing enough lecturing he concentrated on using their advice, even the strange 8 legged horse person. Concentrating hard he bent his knees and elbows focusing his whole center upon pushing out the animal within that was apparently so easy to find. Grunting from the effort his whole body began to shake and so did the floor seem to, beads of sweat began to dot his for head before a small blast of gas escaped form his backside and he stopped everything. Realizing that he had just pushed out nothing more than a fart he wanted to go crawl into a hole and just live there for awhile. If he couldn't even do this how would he ever manage to tempt that really fast 8 legged horse kid to let him ride? It was impossible. How did they make it seem so easy. "Well guys I just can't do it." Pouting he looked at the ground bashfully and began to kick around at non-existent dust. |

Donkey, after noticing his new commander, neigh, his new partner offering to pay for the damages he caused became a little embarrassed. He had put on a poor display for a marine. Rising onto his horsey hind legs, he walked over to the counter where a cashier was stationed and pulled out his wallet from his horse pouch. Sleipnir is a marsupial, prove me wrong bitch. He then fiddled through it with his large hooves and pulled out a wad of cash that would easily pay for several tables, and then some. He placed it on the counter and bowed his head slightly. "Sorry for the damages." He continued to walk on his hind legs like a person back towards the table. He lifted his chair which had fallen over and sat on it with his large horse booty. He then turned to Robin who seemed quite ashamed. Donkey donned a tremendously evil grin and gave the man a few words. "Welp, I guess you can't." He wasn't about to give hope to this guy. The dude couldn't even turn into a weasel. What a lameo. Turning back towards Kazuki, Donkey folded his horse arms in front of him and cleared his throat to speak. He had seemingly forgotten to change back to a human shape. "Well, where do I start.... Hmmm... I guess here's a good point. I punched a giant paint robot and ended up shattering my arm. I had to get a serious checkup from a few medics and it only just recently healed. That was a whole bunch of awful. And I guess that about sums up our actions so far. Pretty uneventful if you ask me." He nodded his head a few times as if to confirm that everything had been talked about. The motion caused his chair to groan, then snap to pieces below him. Once more, he stood up and walked over to the girl at the counter. he pulled out another wad of cash from his horse pouch and handed it to her. This time he didn't apologize. Realizing his mistake he returned to his human form, and walked back over. This time he pulled a chair from another table and sat down facing Kazuki. "Hmmm, where was I... Oh yes. Our adventure so far. I'm not sure if I filled you in on everything yet, but let me start from the beginning just to make sure, and then Gary can cover anything I miss." Donkey leaned back in his chair and scratched his chin. "So yeah, I punched a giant robot that was spewing acid paint and had a super cutter thing, and then my arm broke so I had to fix it up. Hmmm yes, that about covers it." He gave a wide smile and tilted his head to the side a bit. Surely his informative summary would be good enough. |

"Oh, uh, don't worry, I'm sure you'll figure it out." Gary was doing his best to be reassuring, but he was also doing his best to suppress the childish giggle that threatened to bubble out of his grinning face. Instead he shrugged in a noncommittal manner and turned to listen to Donkey recount the events on Gesso, but Gary was surprised by that more than Robin's failure. The racing man had failed to mention anything other than his own experiences in the past few days, and completely neglected to state any pertinent information. So then Donkey's chair broke, because the guy had forgotten to change back from his horse form. "How do you even forget about that?" Gary suppressed a sigh and instead just shuffled his feet slightly. He continued watching Donkey as the man corrected his mistake and shifted back, because if he hadn't he probably would have ruined all the furniture in the restaurant. Anyway, Donkey offered Gary up to explain anything he missed, which again was going to be a lot. As the marine finished his new and (un)improved relay of information, Gary let himself sigh this time. He was going to be shoring up a few points, and it as all due to his friend's laziness. Still, Gary was a nice guy to the core, so he cleared his throat as quietly as he could before turning back to the Commander. "From what I understand, there's not a lot of info on things here, but there are a number of key points we do now." He stressed the 'do', wanting to seem hopeful. "There is a person who is only known as "M" leading some mix of mafia and black market operation here on Gesso, with colors as their mediums. They've committed all kinds of crimes in the process of obtaining and selling these paints or dyes or what have you. So Donkey here and I are trying to stop them." Gary took a break in his monologue to take a deep breath before promptly continuing. "So, we know that M has three lieutenants, or rather, had three, before we took one out. That was at the warehouse, which means there's two more unaccounted for, presumably at some factory and at a mansion that they've set up in. Unfortunately we don't know the exact location of the mansion, but the factory is a well known spot." He took a breath again, nodding to himself. "And that's more or less what's happened so far. Oh, and Donkey and I need a lot of yellow paint for some renovations at Teufort, but that's sort of beside the point." |

Sometimes something happens so damnably derisive that you know it was in fact your own fault for giving it the opportunity, and as donkey rose up onto his hind legs after Kazuki asked him to stop having 8 he knew instinctively this was one of those times and in that same instant that he would be kicking himself for situations just like this one in the days to come. Perhaps it was the prophetic powers of his devil fruit, or maybe just a basic ability to observe what’s right in front of you but either way he had glimpsed the future, and it was not sunshine and roses. That said, for an 8 legged horseman whose hobbies included hunting down imaginary creatures and shattering furniture he was really rather polite about it, in a feat of dexterity so jaw droopingly incredible words have not yet been invented to allow it’s imagination he plucked a few notes from his wallet using only his hoofs and handed them over with an apology, taking the onus of Kazuki to fit the bill which was nice since he felt somewhat as though if he started now it would be an endless stream of money trickling from his budget. Which for this group was actually surprisingly small, some might think the marines didn’t actually have all that high hopes for them, or at least their frugality. Fortunately it was at that point he came back to the explanation of past events, Kazuki all too glad it would bring them one step closer to leaving this place before anything else was destroyed and their budding reputation further tarnished, a small mercy that lingered on borrowed time as the horse man hybrid say himself down on a chair dwarfed by his incredible size. ”Mr Donkey….….could you perhaps….” another request for him to return to his human form was lost amid the regaling of what sounded to be an incredibly heroic tale of trial and tribulation, and answered the question of his injured arm but could probably not have done less to give kaz an idea of just what it was that was happening here if he had tried. Or was he? Honestly there was part of him that thought perhaps this was some sort of initiation where he’d just screw with him as much as possible to see the result, though he didn’t want to have such thoughts of his new teammates (well just the one of them actually) from the first day so he cast it from his mind. An explosive crash marked the end all knew was impending, and this time the waitress didn’t even bother to come other, simply gave a heated glare spotting donkey making his way to the counter with yet more money. Apparently a talking 8 legged horse is good enough for business that he can break almost any amount of furniture with very little repercussion, an almost completely useless fact to kaz but one he would carry with him for the rest of his days. ”I see” he did not see, he did not see at all, well aside from that there was some sort of mechanical device involved that did not do well being punched and was loaded with chemical weapons, but as for the who, where, why and a fairly large amount of the how he was still very much lost at sea. ”It sounds like you had a tough time of it, you did well to make it out in one piece” though he had gained almost nothing in the way of his bearings. Fortunately all was not lost, once more gary took the lead to save him from complete and utter dissolution quickly becoming his saving grace within the team, while robin continued to strain himself with that constipated expression painted on his face to no avail. Contrary to donkeys self centered anecdote it seemed their exploits here had actually been really rather revealing, they’d uncovered quite the network of dare I say it corruption by an enigmatic figure known only as M which some might say would stand for moderator though Kazuki knew nothing of such things. A wide smile broke out on the marines face as he finally came to understand what it was that had been taking place here, eager to get work underway righting what was wrong. ”Ahhh I understand now, that’s some fine work you’ve been doing here. In that case you and Ensign donkey take care of the factory and see if you can acquire the yellow paint you need, if not I’ll contact HQ and have them send some ahead of us to teufort. Commander Robin and I will take care of the mansion, I have some skills when it comes to finding people. Would you happen to have a bounty poster at all for the man we’re looking for or at the least a name?” |
