Once upon a time....

"What do you mean they just left?!" The mysterious new person that swept into Gesso and refined the illegal color trade business, known only as 'M' to her enemies (and her friends too), was in a bad mood. She had come to this island in preparation to build up a financial empire with which to destroy a certain group of people, but the group had disappeared from the island almost as quickly as they'd arrived! Her sources stated that one man was killed by an axe, while two fishmen faded into obscurity. Only one had made it off the island, and that fiery-haired teen had apparently met her doom on Little Garden. Even the cyborg obsessed with her own beauty was gone! So who was left? The obnoxiously durable marine, who was so weak and stupid that he could do nothing but toil away at the marine base until he also disappeared. So 'M' waited. She and 'Paintbeard' spent their time building up a great standing on the island as powerful criminals and colorful paint moguls. Meanwhile, they very nearly put the new marine base out of commission. Six months passed like this, with no sign of their original enemies. 'M' and 'Paintbeard' had, to an extent, taken over Gesso.

And so the new heroes arrive...

"Huh. It's a bit um..quiet here. Yeah, quiet..." Gary couldn't help but scratch his head idly as he observed the 'base' in front of him. He and Donkey had given up rather quickly on maintaining the marine establishment on Little Garden, but this place was honestly not much better. The fairly new marine setup had not done too well in it's short life-span, as much of the marine presence had been driven away by an increasingly overwhelming and ruthless criminal organization. Still, it was for this very reason Gary and Donkey had come here, fueled by intel of a huge black market for colors. If they were going to facilitate the saving of Teufort by recoloring it, this was most positively the place to procure a plethora of paints. Gary left the boat and made his way towards the base, whistling quietly to himself as he reflected on the lack of people nearby. And by lack, that is to say there was literally nobody outside of the base. As if for effect, the rumble of overhead clouds was clear.

See, he had a bit of knowledge about this place. It was typically in Gary's best interest to learn about the places he might have to go, and he was fairly well aware of the criminal presence on Gesso island, because well there was a good chance he might get contracted to kill someone here. That being said, he'd never actually made it to the island for a job, or even been offered one. Still, Gary had a bit of knowledge about the going-ons, but the current situation seemed to be worse than he was aware.

"Bit messy too." The building's white-washed walls were covered with bits of illegible graffiti, and for once the island's primer rain was a good thing. If not for that foul-smelling rain, there would be a number of obscenities scrawled across the building. Still, it clearly showed the apathy of the current workforce here on Gesso. Gary shook his head in disappointment as he made his way inside. "I guess we came just in time to save this joint." Gary was well aware that he and Donkey had their work cut out for them if they wanted to stop this black market business, but he tackled it with his usual optimism. He moved through a lonely hallway, listening for any signs of life and hearing none. No hustle or bustle, no training groups, nobody just mopping the halls. When Gary reached the front desk there was just a sign that read 'Lunch Break', but the paper was yellowed and worn as though it had been sitting there for a few months.

"..Hello?!" Gary yelled out, hoping to draw the attention of whomever worked here, but was met with deafening silence on the marine's end. "I'm honestly surprised; I thought there would be at least a handful of people here.." Outside could be heard the earlier mentioned rumble of thunder, followed by the sudden onset of primer rain. It came down like a torrent, spattering color-neutralizing whiteness all over the base. As if in response to the rain, a door slammed open down a hallway as three individuals stormed into the building, all holding long primer-stained coats above their heads. Beneath their coats were the standard issued marine uniform, and they seemed to be apathetic towards Gary and Donkey's presence.

"Who're you two jackasses?" Well, they were still sort of curious. Gary stared at them a moment before looking all around, while the state of things finally settled in for him.

"So what, you guys are it?"

"Ah, uh..."

"Gary... I think we've made a horrible mistake. This island... it's white. There's like, not much color at all. This place is pretty much devoid of color. So like. Why is there no color if there is supposed to be paint here? He said there's lots of paint. We came here for paint. This doesn't feel right Gary. I think this is the wrong place Gary." Donkey was rambling on and on in a hushed mumble on the way to the marine base. If it was up to him, they would have turned around immediately as soon as they got here. The spy was the one who told them to come, and that guy seemed kind of crazy. How much could they even trust him? He had told them this island had a massive paint trade and whatnot. But where was the paint? People weren't using it, like, at all. Had the guy mentioned Gesso on accident? Maybe he was delusional? Either way, it did not seem like this was the place to be. Somehow, though, Gary had managed to convince Donkey to not only dock the ship, but to follow him onto the island, and all the way to a shit hole marine base. Honestly, it probably wasn't bad protocol for Donkey to introduce himself there and whatnot, but still. If this place didn't have paint, it just wasn't worth it.

"Oh come on... they don't even take care of their base. Don't they have a choreboy? Even I'm a choreboy and I'm just a random marine visiting the island. They must have tons of em lying around." Donkey kicked at the wall, watching as some plaster fell down to the floor in crumbles. He winced a bit at the damage he had done. It was actually pretty rude of him, he didn't think the thing would actually break a bit. Trying to avoid getting in trouble, he ran up behind Gary who was at the counter. "What do you mean save this place... I'm just here for the paint. If they ain't got paint, I'm not stayin. Oh hey, haha, I just rhymed, did you hear that? Pff. Ain't and paint..." As he was gloating about his masterful speech accomplishment, some men entered the building. The guys promptly insulted Donkey and Gary, then Gary said something confusing. Whatever though, Donkey wasn't daunted by their words. He instead answered their questions. "I'm Donkey. This is Gary. We came here for paint. Please give us all the paint so we can leave. I don't like this island, it's all boring and stuff." The men stiffened a bit then glanced at one another. They quickly spoke to one another, then one stepped forward with a hand at his waist. It looked like he had something tucked into his belt. "I'm really going to need you to tell us who you are." Donkey ruffled his hair a bit while staring at the man. "Uhhh, duh? I'm Donkey. Didn't I just say that? Now are you going to gives us the paint or what?"

The man didn't even hesitate at Donkey's words. He pulled the instrument from his waist, which happened to be a gun, and pointed it towards Gary and Donkey. "Freeze! You goons have a lot of nerve stepping into the marine base like this. She must be getting too big of an ego if she thinks she can just push us around like this using her minions." Donkey blurted out in an angry tone after witnessing the man's actions. "Hey! I don't know who 'she' is, but I don't care either. You have been nothing but rude ever since we got here. What is up with that? And now you point a gun at us? Is that how you treat guests? This is dumb. Gary, let's go. We don't need paint from these thugs who call themselves 'marines'." Donkey turned to walk away, very annoyed by the lack of manners in this base. "I said freeze!" There was a click as the gun was cocked, and then there was a brief wooshing noise as if air had moved. "Or what?" The man seemed a bit startled as Donkey's voice had come from behind. He spun on his heel to see Donkey standing behind him. The man then glanced back towards Gary who was standing alone. "Are you gonna shoot me? You gonna shoot another marine? Huh? Huh?" The man's face drooped as his mouth opened but no words came out. He seemed pretty damn surprised that Donkey had instantly moved across the room and behind him. Meanwhile, Donkey was being a punk and getting up in the mans face. The dude was probably his superior officer even. Donkey probably should have saluted earlier or something.

"Marine? You guys are m-marines? I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pull my gun on you... it's just, these are tough times here on Gesso, and paint is a bit of a sore subject." Donkey squinted a bit as he kept his tough guy expression on his face. He couldn't just let it go that this goon had pointed a gun at him and acted all rude. "Pshh... How do I even know you guys are real marines?" The man was a bit startled and blinked a few times, but he started to speak after a moment. "Ah, allow me to introduce myself. I am Lieutenant Duke Manchester. I'm the second in command at this base." Donkey froze up a bit. He had been bad mouthing, and sorta even threatened a superior officer. He smiled awkwardly, completely breaking the hard ass persona he had been acting like. "Eh heh heh..." The man glanced back towards Gary, then looked back at Donkey. "So who are you guys?" Donkey shifted his feet a bit. What would this guy do if he found out Donkey had been insubordinate. Donkey hadn't been a marine long and didn't know shit about rules, but he figured it would be bad. The marines were strict like that and stuff.

"Ah, I'm uhh, I'm on a special mission so I can only introduce myself as Donkey Kick. Yeah, ummm, eghmmm. I can't tell you any more sorry. Just know that I'm definitely not being insubordinate and stuff. That other guy is Gary Stella. He's not a marine, but he is a professional under my employ. Yeah, that's it. I hired him to help with my mission. Yep." The guy was a tad put off by the flimsy speech Donkey was giving, but he didn't have much reason to suspect especially considering Donkey's incredible speed. No regular schmuck can move that fast. "Uh huh. And this special mission brought you here to Gesso?" Donkey nodded furiously. This was part he was confident about because it was a mission he created. He could explain this right quickly and probably get some support from these guys. "Yep yep. We are here to get paint. Like, a lot of it. A man we ran into said there is a lot of black market paint trade here, but everything is white. I haven't seen a black market anywhere." The man scratched his head awkwardly at Donkey's misunderstanding. "A black market is an illegal trade group. It doesn't mean the color black. And yeah, they exist here but they would never sell to a marine... It is controlled by a bad crime organization." Donkey simply shrugged. "Well I guess we'll just take care of them as well."

It hadn't been too long since their big trip on Little Garden, about a week at most and things had generally settled. Well, sort of. Upon reporting his findings back to HQ he had been told that higher ranking officials would be taking care of the job that he couldn't finish and was dismissed to take care of some run down joint of a marine base on Gesso Island. It didn't seem to matter how much he argued back with them either, he had been deemed unsuited to finish the job and forced to do something rather menial. The shark man was forced to simply bear with it and grit his pointy teeth no matter how much it annoyed him. As such, he spent that week mostly just getting drunk and doing research on Gesso Island as they began to draw more and more near to its harbors. Truth be told though, this was likely the first time he had ever wished that Ryan was still among them, at least with him along the marines wouldn't bother sending them off on a small task like this. He supposed it was likely karma for all that off time he took.

Once they got near the island he decided to leave the ship docked as far away from the mainland as possible in order to avoid any of that primer rain get on it. If even a drop of it marred the ship then Ame was rather certain he'd never hear the end of it from that flippant blonde pretty boy that he was forced to call his captain. Drawing a breath, he stepped on the to the docks and began to make headway for the base. In on hand he carried a large blue umbrella that was already beginning to lose its color and sheen and with his other hand he pushed along his daughter, Kyuu in her wheelchair. The human woman was human and about early twenties in age. The most notable features of her appearance had to be the long pink hair and the modified marine coat which was much more reminiscent of a scientist's coat than one warn by the government.

While he had originally not planned on bringing her along, it seemed that she was interested in seeing the strange phenomenon that was Gesso island for herself as well as to possibly study the primer rain and its effects on the environment. As usual, a bunch of sciency stuff but he was never one to turn down quality time with his daughter. Still, this wasn't quite what he had in mind for that. The place was a pale white and he felt like he had stepped back into one of those old black and white model den den televisions. Fortunately the umbrella he carried was large enough to shield them both from the harsh conditions.

Arriving at the base he looked at it with a bit of disdain as it seemed the men her hadn't even tried to keep it in any sort of stable state. First thing he'd be sure to do was to speak to the commanding officer in this joint and see what the hell was going on and why he was forced to come here and pick up after the messes they made. Pushing the door open the two stepped inside and were met with the faces of Gary, Donkey, and the rest of the soldiers within. For some reason he felt he had just walked in on something strange. "Who's in charge here?" The sharkman asked in a gruff tone.

When the cool as hell looking guy walked in, Donkey didn't know what to do. All he was able to manage was dropping his jaw and moaning out a word. "Cooool~" He'd never seen someone look so badass while carrying an umbrella and pushing a wheelchair. This guy was the real deal. Donkey hadn't seen many reliable figures since he had entered the marines, but this guy, wow, this guy. Tight jeans, jacket with slaughtered animal goodness, and those eyes. Those scary stern eyes. Those totally made the appearance work. What a tough guy. Donkey was busy staring at the guy when a squeaky voice came from behind him. "Uhhh... that would be me- actually, that would be special agent Donkey Kick here. He seems to be in charge at the moment." The guy was rubbing his hands together like some sort of conniving pushover. Donkey of course didn't get that he was being pegged as the fall man, but he didn't care. He hadn't even had a real official mission yet, and now he was in charge of a marine base. Well, a shitty marine base, but still, he was now in charge of it.

Cocking his head upwards so that he looked haughty, Donkey grinned the stupidest of grins and addressed the fishman and the seated woman. "Yes yes, of course. That would be me. I presume you are a marine being sent here for some matter? Yes yes, I will be sure to take care of the arrangements." Donkey had placed his hands on his hips as he spoke. He was making quite the ass of himself, and it would be sure to bite him in the ass. Behind him, he could here some people speaking under their breaths. ""This guy..."" With his statement made, Donkey walked forward while holding out his hand for a hand shake. He wanted to be polite and live up his role as a responsible boss. "Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Donkey Kick, the chor- erm. The Special Agent as they have addressed me. And you might be?" Donkey was smiling giddily as he closed in on the man.

He raised a curious eyebrow to what Donkey had to say in regards to his arrival but decided to pay the strange man no mind as someone had decided to speak up and answer his query. The voice of a small and squeaky man who at first said it was himself before referring to the other man who had spoken up at first. Special Agent Donkey Kick? It was difficult to believe that this tiny man with unkempt hair was in charge but his appearance seemed to lend to the idea that he was the one that allowed this place to fall into disarray and truth be told the fish man had meant stranger men who held higher ranks. Still, what was up with that scowl on his face? Was he trying to intimidate him or something?

No matter, it seemed that an introduction was in order and as Donkey extended his hand in order to shake Ame found his hands to be rather full at the moment. Folding up the umbrella he had been holding, he made sure to snap it shut towards his side in order to avoid splashing anyone with primer before leaning it up against a nearby wall and shaking with Donkey. The fellow marine would likely find the handshake itself to be uncomfortable and probably painful as the rough shark skin of his large hands rubbed against his flesh. "I am Lieutenant Commander Hoshizamezoku Seikan, however you may refer to me as Amezoku for short." He let go now and gave Kyuu the opportunity to introduce herself and shake with Donkey but she seemed to be in no mood to do so. As such the fishman began to open his mouth to speak but was cut short.

"I will speak for myself, mutt. Chief Science Officer of the Calamera, Kyuusei Seikan." The woman stated briskly before turning her attention back to the book in her hands. It seemed that she was rather unimpressed with the ragtag bunch of marines that were present here but rather than chew them out for something that wasn't any of her business she just stayed quiet.

The sharkman smiled a toothy grin. "Ah don't mind kitty, she just gets a little cranky when she takes long trips like this. She's a really sweet girl, I promise." He began to rub the top of her head much like how an owner would do for their pet cat and for his show of affection ended up receiving a bit to his pinky finger. "See, just a little rascal."

Small talk aside though, it was time to get back to business and with that his previous childish grin faded and was replaced with the same stern expression he wore upon first entering. "I was sent to get this base back in order as its current commander has let it fall into this pitiful state. Do you have anything to say for yourself, special agent?" The last few words leaving his mouth with a hint of cynicism as he still didn't really believe the special agent thing, especially if he was stationed at an outpost.

"Hmmmm... what to say for myself. Uhh." That was a real head scratcher. What was he supposed to reply with? He wasn't really catching the meaning of the phrase. Was this some marine lingo he just wasn't getting? Donkey didn't understand that the man was under the impression that Donkey was at fault for the bases current state. At least one part was easy to understand. This base was a shit hole. It could definitely do with a renovation, but Donkey was still wondering what the hell to say for himself. "I don't have anything to say for myself, I guess. I agree that this base is a mess, and I'm glad you are here to shape things up, but there is a matter of great importance that I have to settle before any mention of fixing this base. You see, there is a war going on. A war of colors. Red against blue, blue against red, constantly shedding blood for no known cause. The men don't know why they fight. They just fight. I can't stand by and let countless people die! That's why I need yellow paint." Donkey was once again looking quite confident as he popped his hands back onto his waist. He had failed to mention the use of the yellow paint, and why it was at all relevant. It was so obvious to him, that he just figured everyone would understand him.

"Now, before we do this base fixer upper stuff, we gotta go take over the paint syndicate dudes. These bad guys who are hoarding all the colored paints on Gesso, and selling it in black market dealings. These scumbags are preying upon the strong desire for color that the inhabitants of this island suffer from. They throw all their money at temporary eye candy while those goons prosper... It's sickening. I don't know anything about the group, but these other marines do." Donkey waved at Duke Manchester to come over, and then grabbed him around the shoulder when he arrived. "This here is the second in command of this base. He's going to fill us in on this gang of dirt bags, aintcha Duke?" The uncomfortable marine brushed off Donkey's arm before opening a satchel he had hanging around his torso. "Well, I suppose we have some intel... Lemme see here." Ruffling through the bag, he pulled out four papers. Three of them were covered in text and had some pictures clipped to them, while the fourth had very little information on it. "They have a fairly simple structure. One big bad boss, with three lieutenants who take care of most of the business. Under them, they have a bunch of goons doing the dirty stuff. We have all good info on the 3 big boys because they show their faces a lot, but their boss, she's a wily one. We don't have crap on her. I'll go ahead and leave these with you." The man placed the papers in Donkey's open hands before starting to turn. Before he completely turned though, he jerked back a bit and whispered to Donkey in a hushed tone. "Sorry our boss pinned you with the blame... He's a bit of a coward." Donkey had no idea what the guy was on about.

"Thanks Duke! This is great, you hear that Hoshikan? A big villainous bunch! This is gonna be cool." Donkey was as giddy as a child on santamas morn. This was truly his first real mission. "Oh Duke, where you goin?" The man was already half way out the door. "We aren't helping. We still have our daily rounds to do, and we don't think you can stop them." Donkey wasn't even slightly daunted. With a quick spin, he faced Amezoku and his daughter. "Well there you heard it. It's up to us to save this island!" Donkey was ignoring the fact that this wasn't an official mission, and was certainly not Amezoku's mission. It didn't phase him though. Plus, it'd probably be more fun than whipping an empty marine base back into working order.

Gary was off in his own little world. Something someone had said reverberated in his head for what felt like an eternity, and he simply stared forward with an odd expression. His smile slowly turned downwards until a look of pure apathy was all that could be seen, and it seemed like Gary had gone into some kind of trance. Nobody really noticed though. Gary's thoughts turned back to home, then his parents, then his sibling. Then a lot of anything. For whatever reason he was having a hard time paying attention, but he knew that there definitely was a reason. Something was beginning to strike Gary as odd, but he couldn't place it. Everything he had done, learned...

"Huh?" Gary's pupils became small again, his eyes finally focusing on what was in front of him. One of the marines- not the duke- was waving a hand idly in front of Gary's face, apparently testing his lucidity. Gary's blank face seemed to twitch a bit, then his eyes roved to the shorter man who was waving about. The hooded marine stopped. Gary waved back. "Hi!" His smile returned in what could have been the blink of an eye, and he was turning to face Donkey and the new arrival. It seemed a lot had happened while he was busy being off in lala-land, so he would have to try extra hard to get some context.

"Oh, no intel on the leader?" It seemed Gary had come in right near the end, so he'd missed all of Ame's introduction. Gary made a note to tread lightly around the fishguy, but luckily Donkey had at least said his name. "I'll have to ask Donkey more about these two after they're all done talking." For now though he wanted to be pro-active. Gary was here for a reason, and he thought it was a rather good one, one he felt somewhat strongly about. He wasn't at all put off by the marines leaving, because Gary had assumed them weak anyway. He stepped forward to inject himself into the important conversation.

"Yeah, saving the island is our first priority." Gary felt a little shameful at his interjection, but he wanted to keep up with Donkey. He also wanted to be cordial and polite, like his parents had taught him. "Hi there, I'm Gary Stella. Not a marine, but I guess I've been working with one for a bit now." He smiled his most genuine grin and offered his hand to the terse-looking woman in the chair, hoping to gain favor with the less friendly person. For whatever that was worth.

Well, the guy didn't try to beat around the bush or anything so at least he had some dignity in that regard but honestly Donkey spoke at like a mile a minute and the fishman could hardly ever make heads or tails of what he was saying and wear he was going. First he's talking about how much of a crap shack this place is and the next second he begins saying some nonsense about color wars and needing paint in order to stop things from escalating. "Yellow paint you say..." He echoed the words just to be sure he didn't misunderstand. Judging by the fact that special agent kick didn't really have anything to say in response to that it seemed quite clear that he was certain of those words and Ame couldn't help but shift his gaze towards Kyuu to see what she had to say but instead the girl kept her nose tucked into that book of hers.

The art didn't interest the marine however was the matter of there being a black market for these colors and now that he thought about it there had been reports of these sorts of thing, even strange groups that coveted colors above all else such as the Kolorhood Klan, but that was old news. Apparently there was something new brewing here and while it wasn't quite what he had been sent here to do the marine felt that he was a bit above whipping a few idiots into shape. "Sounds like a pretty weak set up, should be an easy job assuming this is done in the right procedure." He said this last bit specifically towards Donkey who he was still skeptical of. He had been prepared to say a bit more but was cut off by the man who introduced himself as Gary Stella, a non marine who had been traveling around with the so called special agent. It was weird but Amezoku had no room to talk considering the fact that he had been traveling around with Daniel up until recently and that kid was a wanted pirate of all things.

"Good to meet you, I'm Liuetenant Commander Hoshisamezoku Seikan." He repeated the same greeting that he had given to Donkey a moment ago just out of pure courtesy rather than necessity while giving him the same rough shark skin handshake as well. He didn't know what to think of Gary just yet, but if he stuck around Donkey then he must have had a pretty strong will. Glaring in the direction of the marines of this base that wouldn't be accompanying them though he stopped the second in command dead in his tracks before speaking. "You lost will not be going anywhere. No need to do rounds, we got things covered. Instead, get this base back in tip top shape. I'll be leaving Officer Seikan in charge while I'm gone." He motioned in the direction of the wheelchair bound woman who gave a sly grin beneath the cover of her novel. "By the time we return expect to see considerable progress to be made here. And if not then there will be...consequences." He smiled while exposing his rows upon rows of razor teeth to the men. He didn't like to use intimidation tactics often, but the idea was nothing new to him.

"Now, let's get moving." He moved over to grab his umbrella while heading towards the door. Donkey was holding all of the information given to him by the second in command so he would expect him to relay that to them as they got moving. Of course if the so called special agent showed himself to be too inept at his job the sharkman had every intention of running this show by himself.

The large man's toothy grin caused Donkey to shiver a bit. The guy was certainly tough seeming, and in Donkey's head, that translated to actually tough. He probably wasn't far off either, but he had been deluded by his position as leader. Also, the fact that the man was gentle with his child(adopted?) made him seem much more humane. But when he did that mean expression towards the goons, woah baby, Donkey could feel the impact. Dude was pretty scary. Anyways, the man seemed down with the plan of crushing the paint dealers, and that a part brought a tear to Donkey's eye. His plan was being accepted by this man who was of a higher rank than him. Granted, the man was informed that Donkey was the leader, so that probably played a large part in it. Following along with the conversation, Donkey saw as Zokumama turned to leave. Well that just wouldn't do. Donkey was the leader around these parts! He wasn't going to let some stranger lead the way when Donkey was the boss. No way José. With some pep in his step, he dashed towards the door. "I'll lead the way!"

Donkey passed the man, and quickly reached the swinging doors. He gave it a solid pull and nothing happened. He pulled once more, causing the hinges to creak, and the door to wobble, but it didn't open. Frustrated, he inspected it and found a small sign that said 'Push'. "Psh, why's there a handle when it's a push door..." Because he had been pulling with a lot of strength, he inadvertently pushed with a lot of strength. The door flew open, and Donkey tumbled forward. He tried to catch his balance, taking one loose step after another, but he eventually fell face first into the thick white paint. The downpour continued from above, peppering his back with white splotches. The documents he was holding weren't lucky either. The papers flipped into the air and fell to the soaking white ground. The paint puddles, and the rain itself quickly consumed them, erasing all the text and images. Donkey had only managed brief glimpses of the various documents so there wasn't much to go on. In a panic, he scrounged them up, but there was nothing that could be done. Turning slowly, and stiffly, he looked over his shoulder at Hoshifishkan and put on an awkward smile. "Uhhh... This won't be a problem. I promise."

"Hrmm.." Gary couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed when the catty woman didn't even acknowledge his existence, and had instead kept reading her book like his voice didn't exist. Then her fishy companion had taken his hand instead, leaving Gary with an oddly raw-feeling handshake. "Oh, is he like...a shark?" Gary didn't know too much about fishmen, except that they couldn't be murdered by covering their gills and that they were usually really strong, physically. As an assassin, that was the sort of thing he made a point to know. Anyways, it wasn't important and Gary put it out of his mind. Instead he kept focusing on the wheelchair-bound girl, noting the slight change in her features at the prospect of shaping up the base. Gary couldn't help but continue to smile, and the group was finally read to make their way outside and fight some crime. Gary became resolved to just forget about the missed handshake.

Gary straightened himself and his coat in preparation to follow the fishdude, but Donkey was apparently in charge at the moment. Gary nearly sighed an audible sound of relief as Donkey took charge and headed up the group. It's not that he didn't trust the fishguy, but he just knew Donkey and his capabilities better. With that in mind Gary strode out of the base right behind his marine companion, stopping only because his friend couldn't read the sign next to the door. Gary had to suppress a laugh at that one. However, as Donkey finally made his way out the door and into the primer-rain of Gesso, Gary was anything but amused. The racer had bowled out and into the rain, where he somehow tripped and caused all the important documents to go fluttering about and scattering across the damp dirt. They were effectively ruined, as if someone had taken a bunch of white-out and redacted literally every single letter. Even the photos had become nothing but soppy white blobs.

"Uh..Donkey, did you at least see where their operations were housed from?..." Hopefully Donkey's memory was good, because if not the trio would need to go back inside and ask those weedy marines for their help, and Gary knew that Donkey was probably too prideful for that. "Even just the slightest clue.." Gary was nearly pleading with Donkey, even though he knew this wasn't a matter of coercion. His grin had become an awkward smile.

Ame honestly didn't care if the guy wanted to feel like he was in charge or something, it would just be in his best interest to not expect the marine to follow any direct orders from him at some point unless he proved himself to be at least semi competent, but the chances of that happening seemed to be pretty much nil at the moment considering he was practically dumbfounded by the different between a push and a pull door. Even the man known as Gary was laughing at how lost the guy was. Yep, this was going to be quite the day indeed. he simply sighed as he picked up the umbrella, contemplating if he'd rather be stuck with this fool or stay back with Kyuu and get this place in shape. The latter simply wouldn't do though as he was eager to show the government that he was still able to take care of difficult assignments despite what happened on Little Garden. "Come on, let's get moving." He said aloud right as Donkey figured the trick to the door and flew outward.

At first Ame didn't think much of it until his eyes caught sight of the document scattering during his unfortunate fall and landing in a big puddle of primer, bleaching every bit of information that had been gathered all at once. His body had instinctively begun to move in order to stop it from happening, but by the time he reached the door he could already see the splash of the special agent slamming into dirt and paint. A visible vein began to bulge from Amezoku's forehead as he clenched his fist and tried to keep his mouth shut but inevitable lashed out at the guy. His patience could only take so much lately and this guy was really making Ryan seem like a damn saint by comparison. "Such a pitiful for a leader, it's no wonder this place has fallen into such poor shape when its men are led by a fool."

Donkey and Gary seemed to be under the impression that they could manage something out of this but the blue doctor was already done and had walked back to the other marines present in the base before Kyuu really got a chance to start bossing them around. Pointing a thick finger in the direction of the second in command he demanded his attention and it seemed that the men had already learned better than to ignore him. "You. I want the remaining reports and information on the movements of this gang in my hands right now. Got that?" There was no way he was going to leave things in the hands of Donkey once again. He had already learned better in the five minutes that they had been together.

"Heh heh heh. You are underestimating me Amechaku." Donkey spoke in a loud of crisp voice into the building. He was now standing in front of the doorway he had flown out of, talking into the hallway where Amezoku had gone in his anger. "You see, I have a photomagic memory. I can remember everything I've seen and read perfectly, even if I've only read it once. or even just glimpsed at it. It's a pretty nifty ability for a masterful secret agent like me." Donkey was standing in what he believed to be a cool pose as he spoke. He had one arm held in front of his body that was holding the elbow of his other arm that was straight up with the hand gripping Donkey's chin. He was trying to look as superior and smart as possible while he sputtered utter nonsense. He didn't want to lie, but he also didn't want to look like a fool. He figured he's a secret agent, so he's supposed to lie and be deceitful. That's aprt of his fake job description. Fake because he's not actually a secret agent, but isn't that justified because he's allowed to lie when he's a secret agent? It was an odd paradox.

Anyways, Donkey took a few steps into the building before uttering a command. "That won't be necessary men. Get back to work with Miss. Kyuusei. Zakikokan, I'm sorry for appearing so inept. Let us get back to business though. We are heading to..." Donkey held his hands up to the side of his head, and closed his eyes. He was pretending to know what the papers said, but in actuality he was in a panic. He was ravaging his brain for any slight inkling as to what the papers had said. He really only remembered a couple locations, but he didn't know who was where, and what was where. Just that the Docks, the Factory, and the Mansion were code names for specific locations in the paint trade. "Hmmm yes, we are heading to the Docks. Gary, I want you to use your abilities to scout ahead stealthily. We need some reconnaissance." Donkey hushed his tone as he turned to Gary to speak. "Pssst, hey. I don't know who's at the docks, I need you to cover my back before this fish man kills me." Donkey then turned back to Amezoku while increasing his volume so the man could hear. "You and me will then make ourselves obvious on the streets in the dock area to try and draw out some thugs. Gary will be scouting out the leader of the area."

"Photographic memory?.." Gary had taken it in stride as best he could when Amezoku got upset at Donkey. He had even tried not to scowl or attack the fishman for insulting his friend, which was probably harder than you might think. Anyways, he held his tongue, instead settling the bat that was slung under his coat. Gary wasn't sure why he still had the baseball bat he'd taken from a blue soldier on Teufort, since it wouldn't survive more than one strike from Gary's strength. "Hm." Well, he wasn't gonna dwell now. Instead, he listened to Donkey's rambling, and was not all that surprised when the racer deferred to his natural haughtiness. He would hear Donkey speak about the docks, and Gary nodded his head in agreement. "Alright, yeah. I'll do some scouting, just get as many of those guys outside as you can."

With a gallant smile Gary moved into a walk in the general direction he thought the docks would be in, noting the warehouses not too far away. He took a different, less straight-forward route in getting there, making sure he didn't cross paths with his companions. When he finally had eyes on the 'docks' in question, he noticed a particular building. It had a few men outside, patrolling the building and checking the area around it. Gary's bleached clothes and white hair lent him a lot of cover, especially when added to the primer-rain that still showered from the sky. "3 men. Concealed weapons. Not a big deal." Gary was in assassin-mode, something he hadn't done since crawling on the battlefield on Teufort. It felt good to exercise the skills he felt most comfortable with. He moved down onto all fours and crawled, keeping his stomach just inches from the ground to keep from soaking himself further. "Should be easy enough to get inside. Window, fifteen feet from the ground. Easy climb."

One moment it was normal Gary, the next he had eight distinct bulges from under the back of his coat, and his hair was speckled with black hairs that were quickly getting bleached by the rain. His eyes glowed an eerie green, and his mouth contained a pair of fangs. Now he just had to wait for the distraction.

"It's Amezoku..." He groaned out of frustration in between chewing out the marines in the building in order to get a scrap of info from anyone but Donkey. Sure, he could have managed to retain a shred of information in that tiny little head of his, but did he really want to take a risk in believing in that? The answer was no and by use of his Observation Haki the fishman had vague insight into the man's inner emotions at the moment and didn't really like the vibes he was getting. The ability didn't allow perfect insight to what was going on in the conscious mind but Ame could definitely feel out ow panicked and desperate he was to actually say something worthwhile to the group and the fishman wasn't very entertained to say the least. He didn't usually like to use his abilities like this as he felt it to be intrusive but his opinion of the so called special agent was at an all time low at the moment so there was very little remorse in him everything considered.

Turning back to the marine he decided to stop yelling at the poor guy who's only mistake had been in giving the only bit of evidence they had to the gang's movement to the marine standing before them with a dumb pose, a dumb grin, and covered in dumb paint primer. According to him it seemed that Donkey was the only shot they had at figuring out where they were. He sighed and turned away, contemplating his life for a moment and wondering if his glories had truly past him by now without him realizing it, after all, he was already thirty eight. Had his mid life crisis come in the form of an inept marine he had unexpectedly been paired with? "At least learn how to say my name, I know it's more than two syllables but it's really not that hard. Just call me Ame or Zoku even." He said in an irked tone that was becoming all too common during the past ten minutes.

"Kitty, please remember that Daddy was always a good man, okay, honey? He pleaded to his daughter as today may have been his last chance to talk to her from a position that wasn't behind iron bars. A sane person could only take so much Donkey after all. That said they were back out on the streets as the man claimed to have some grand idea about drawing attention to themselves in town or some nonsense. Truth be told, Ame didn't really believe in his plan and instead of really getting involved he would just use his own skills to take care of things. Perhaps that Gary fellow that had been sent off ahead was at least semi reliable.
