Moving. He had to keep moving. The thud of knives slamming into the sand and earth around him filled the air- he narrowed his eyes searching desperately for anything that could get him out of the current situation, it wasn't getting easy. Muttering under his breath as he sprinted through the darkness he rolled under a bush- trying to catch his breath in annoyance. The bastards were determined to find him it seemed as they continued to carefully pace and search, finally he saw one come near- and his hand shot out, crushing his windpipe as his lip curled. They pushed him to this, he had to get free, that's just how it was.

He didn't enjoy killing but death was a part of nature. He wasn't going to die to these weaklings. His grip tightened as the Monk let a gargled weak noise, kicking in the gut as he went flying over the edge of the hill, bouncing down it. The distraction drew the monks attention for a brief moment, allowing him to turn and shoot off once more- dashing at full-speed once more as the monks scattered and tried to catch up. However Ginjo was no fool, he made sure that he ducked into darkness constantly dancing around them and backtracking, ducking into shadows and so forth until after a few minutes of this they finally lost track of the teenager. Smirking to himself he made his way quickly, heading toward the main base once again.

However halfway there he found that the crowd of civlians were coming out of a tunnel in the side of one of the man hills. He dashed forward and skidded to a halt as he narrowed his eyes, "Where is Haruka? Where is the one that freed you?!" They of course at first were suspicious but they knew the voice as the one that had yelled orders to the one that freed her. After a bit of a scramble and some confusion he got the information he needed- she was back in the tunnels still. Cursing under his breath he pointed them in the right direction, handed them a simple scroll with his seal on it to allow them in, and took off into the tunnel once more. The blonde moving at his top speed- but it would still take time.

Ducking around the corners of the tunnels, one after the other he ground his teeth in anger. He had done what he did so this -didn't- happen and it still managed it. Sprinting in he blinked as he heard yelling from deeper in the tunnels, "What the hell ..." He muttered and then recognized the voice- his pupils dilated in rage. "You son of a bitch ...!" He hissed, steam rolling from his lips as he blasted forward even faster- the blade sliding free as he rushed along. Of course suddenly he heard the scream of pain- and it wasn't Haruka this time, he didn't slow however as he turned a corner finally in time to see Haruka and the bloodied man. She was in a pathetic state, but he shot right past the stumbling girl.

He wasn't sure if the man was dead or not, but he was covered in blood and stumbling, he assumed she had gone feral and ripped into him. Narrowing his eyes he ground his teeth thinking of her injures, "... You're beyond dead." He hissed softly, as he appeared right in front of the man who's eyes widened rapidly in time for the blade to slam into his gut, up into his ribs as it sliced through the lower-section of the bones and upward- impaling his lung. Finishing him off as he kicked him off the blade, turning to find the bloodied and weak Haruka he cursed under his breath and would rush forward. "Don't you dare die on me Haruka, you still gotta kick my ass remember?!" He hissed under his breath as his arms slid down and he aimed to scoop her up and get her into light where he could actually tend to her wounds.

He couldn't help blaming himself ... cursing under his breath as he would try and carry her.
"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."

Face first in the dirt, Haruka couldn't help but wail out in pain, her eyes clenched tight and yet the tears still managed to get free. Drenching her face as the burning sensation which was the wound on her back, it cutting into her jacket, showing the location of the wound well. Fortunately, having been blinded by the dirt, two things would happen, one he was a bit off target, wounding her more to the left side of her back as opposed to closer to the spine. Secondly, he didn't get as good a slash on her as he would have wanted, the wound was shallow by all accounts, but could still be very deadly. It would be evidenced by the heavy breathing she displayed, she continuing to bleed out and her body was beginning to weaken. She would be helpless as the man still fought with the dirt in his eyes. Barely opening an eye, she would grit her teeth as she reached with a shaky hand at the dirt before he and did her best to claw her way forward, but he fingers just glided across it without any traction gotten.

Her mind would practically black out after awhile, as her memories would flood her mind. Remembering her home island, and the way it used to be. The hunt and what all it brought to her body, those feelings, that primal nature. It would just seem to happen slowly, Haruka becoming more and more aware of the surroundings around her. Most importantly, her heartbeat. A slight anger which would drive it to beat faster and faster at a slowly increasing pace. Her whimpers slowly turning to growls as her fingers began to dig into the ground. Her attacker who was getting his vision back would look at at her, smirking at her movements. "You know, I think I have the perfect end for the likes of you." With this, he would turn on his heels and make his way for one fo the torches on the wall. It casting it's light and illuminating this portion of the tunnel slightly. It being the only direct light source. "To return you to the firey depths from whence you came!" Once he would spin around, torch in hand, he would suddenly feel his eye's widening.

There, where a pool of blood had sunk into the dirt, was nothing but the crimson mess left behind. No Haruka whom had just been there, no, she had managed to get herself off the ground somehow, and was currently lurking in the shadows. Her eye's narrowing as her face contorted to that of pure primal fury. It was like she was back on her home island, she was that beast that her people feared to become. Silent was her breath and red was her vision. This confused man wouldn't even have a chance to cry out as she would burst from her hiding place, practically out of no where and merely bump into him. It was enough to catch him off guard to the point of falling back and dropping the torch which would extinguish itself on the ground, immediately doing away with the light and leaving them to the darkness. Getting to his feet, he would look around quite uneasily, cursing to himself about dropping the light and being left to this pitch black. Of course there was another pressing manner, how was that woman able to move around as such, she was too weak to crawl just a moment ago.

Slowly, he would take a step or two, his mind working to try and find her. Though it was a task which drove him mad as he could barely see his hand in front of his own face, let alone someone else. Yet for some reason, he could feel her eyes, watching him like some sort of predator. "Where are you?!" He would finally shout, his voice echoing off the walls. It was something which would earn a reaction, but not a vocal one. Instead he would feel the cold steel of her blade ripping into his side. Though the pain would surge, he would attempt to swing his weapon toward where the attack had come from, but he would find it hitting the ground in stead. She had already disappeared back to the shadows. Wincing he would step again, and once again he would hear her rush up and he would feel her blade rip into him again, this time getting his leg. Stumbling around, she would repeat this process a few times, before he would find himself leaning to a wall.

It would be here that she made her final attack. Using it to stand, he could feel her presence to his side, his body weakened and making him far easier prey. She very much so a hunter at the moment, he would still try and fight back, swinging around with a wild swing of his arm, looking to club her in the head. Though it would swing right through, hitting nothing. Still he would feel a hand shove him backfirst to the wall before she would in a flurry stab him in the midsection, over and over again. Six times he would feel this, and before the final one, she would pull herself back, allowing him to come off the wall so that she could ram her blade through his body. He coughing in response to this, he could tell that he had just spewed blood from his mouth, having long since felt it trail from his lips after the second stab. Wracked with pain and on the verge of collapsing, he would feel he hand come up and wipe his mouth clean before she would retract back into the darkness, he able to hear an audible smack of her lips as she did.

The taste of the young man's blood would be all it took to bring Haruka back from her spell. Suddenly the weight of her wounds catching her, the adrenaline in her veins ceasing and leaving her far more weakened than she had been. Stumbling out of the darkness, she would just barely catch a glimpse of Gin whom rushed past her, her eyes widening slightly. Just the wind from him doing this would be enough to take her off her feet, a true testament of how done she really was. With a thud she would hit the dirt and her consciousness would fade, a small smile on her face, this man's blood dribbling from her lips. Far from dead, she would be rather gone, though during the time in which Gin would carry her, he would perhaps hear her mumbling in the weakest of voices. "Did I do it?" or "Are they okay?" The last an obvious note to the civies. Showing just how much more she cared about them making it than her own life. She had after all martyred herself to give them a chance, well perhaps not quite yet, her heart is still beating after all.

He ground his teeth at her words as he dashed along, hefting her gently up as he closed his eyes sighing. "Yeah ... they're safe. Now you stay awake damnit ..." He ordered sternly as he rushed her forward, shielding her weakened and bloodied form from the branches and sand to keep her as uninjured as possible, as he ran using his shirt- ripping it with one hand and binding her more serious and bleeding wounds as he tried to get some water in her to keep her a bit more clear headed as they moved. It wasn't an easy journey, pushing himself beyond his limit for his beyond-top speed using his "limit break" move his father had taught him.

As he finally dashed up the wall without stopping he landed with a soft thud and rested her into the ground he took several deep breaths as he glanced down at her before leaping off again, wincing as he collided with the ground- feeling his leg give out and a soft crack being heard. It had been several stories drop leap off- but he didn't care. "Medic!" He yelled in a tone that was somewhere between desperate and pained, combined with authoritative as he ignored the throbbing in his leg as the older lady rushed forward panting and frowning as she eyed the wounds. "Damn this girl ..." She muttered and pointed at her, "Get her in a medical room and show me the way!"

Ginjo grunted as he ignored the complaint of his leg and hauled himself up, lifting her up and limping toward the nearby building as he shoved the door open and gently lay the dying girl out on the table, gently taking her cheeks. "Come on Haruka, stay with me. Focus on my voice." He ordered sternly, grinding his teeth- the guilt heaving on his consciousness. He didn't think of a rat. He had thought of every possibility he had thought. Damn it- thinking was the only thing he was good at and he fucked it up. This was his first time being in control and command- and his subordinate was already about to die for his mistake?! He ground his teeth and cursed as he tried to keep her gaze on him.

She couldn't die. If she died he couldn't ever forgive himself. He watched as the old woman strapped the equipment to her, checking her weak pulse as the machine beeped about half a second later than it should normally every beat. The old woman worked as fast as she could, shaking her head as she glanced at him- "She lost to much blood! We need a transfer now or this will never work!" He narrowed his eyes, "Use mine." She frowned, "If you don't match her blood ty-", "I know!" He cut her short, "I'm O negative, I match everyone. Dad used to say it was because I wanted to help everyone I could- even before I was born. Now -save her-."

She nodded, quickly setting it up as the needles slid in them both- but her heart was already rapidly dying as the IV was put in and the blood began to transfer. "Come on Haru ..." He hissed, knowing she likely couldn't hear him anymore. Then it hit. The beeps. The woman's heart slowing, before completely stopping as Ginjo's eyes slowly widened. She was dead.

... Dead?

She died because of him. He killed her.

He killed his own subordinate. She trusted him and he killed her in exchange.

The thoughts rattled through his mind as his head slowly dropped down, eyes blank and wide as he tried to hear. He tried to listen for a heartbeat. Anything.

"Please ... I can't handle this. I'm not strong enough to be the leader my dad was ... I can't stand loosing a friend. Please." He hissed, grinding his teeth as suddenly he felt something- emotions, thoughts, the talk outside, the old woman's remorse as she moved to close Haru's eyes. But more than that. He felt life still lingering. His eyes shot open as he moved up, his leg nearly giving out on him- "Don't you dare Haru ...!" He growled, his hand going over her chest as impact released, then again, and again- controlled bursts. "You're not gone yet! Don't you give up!" He hissed, the pressure repeating again and again until he finally heart it. Felt it. But not through touch or hearing, something else.

The thump of the heart. Relief slowly flooded him as he fell back in amazement. What was going on ...? The feeling faded as his relief filled him, as if it had never been there to start with, leaving only relief and confusion as the blood transfusion continued, her heart now pumping it through her body as the old woman worked quickly to patch the wounds up and stop all bleeding.

For Haruka, the time which would pass from being carried to the base would be nothing but a blur. She coming to and going right back over as time seemed to lose meaning. She had allowed herself to recline back with a smile on her face upon receiving the news of the civilians. If for anything else, if she was to die here, she would do so saving many others, and for her that was enough. Something to separate herself from her own people further as back on her island it was survival of the fittest. Gin's words would be nothing more than echos to the dying woman whom continued to bleed out in his arms. Of course however, when they arrived to the base, many who saw Gin coming in would only look on horrified at the sight. Her body ravaged with slices from a blade, barely a part of her exposed skin which wasn't stained with blood, and she near lifeless in the Captain's arms.

The civilians whom she had given her body for could only look on in horror, sharing that same guilt that Ginjo felt as it was for them she did this for. Even may of the crew would let their heads hang low, one in particular above the others. The young man whom had been at her side for a lot of the time on the island. The very young man whom had tried to assure Ginjo of the ways of this young woman early in the morning, and the one who had packed her things for her when they had set off to find this base for them. He above all else would be heart broken by the condition of what was to be his best friend. He was not the most well respected of the recruits after all, the runt of the bunch as it were, but she had always been right there to protect him when he was being harassed by the others. She was the only one to do so as Malatoff just shrugged it off and told him to get over it. In fact, many a time had that woman picked a verbal fight with the former superior just to get the attention off of him.

It would be of little surprise that he would be close behind Gin as he carried her to the infirmary of sorts. He taking the respectful route and remaining outside as the old woman and Gin went in to begin with the procedures. He watching from the window in the door, arms crossed over his rapidly beating chest. A look of concern on his face as his stomach simply flipped flopped back and forth. Though he would hate to admit it, he could hear the yelling from inside, and things were sounding grim. "Come on Haru, you can beat this." He would mutter to himself, trying to give himself hope as he watched her. Each small twitch, every wince of pain from her only causing him to tear up more and more. It wouldn't be until her head simply slumped to the side and her movements stopped that he lost control. Tears beginning to stream down his face as he watched, presumably his best friend just die on that table. "N-no...." He would say, in grief and a certain hint of denial, unwilling to accept it.

He would feel himself simply drawn into the room, inviting himself in as he looked on at Gin. Clenching his jaw and not wanting to make a sound for the sake of his captain, keeping himself from wailing in agony like he felt like doing. The only thing he could think to do was to make a move to put a hand on Gin's shoulder to console him, to allow him to know it wasn't only he whom was grieving. Though the Captain was unwilling to give up, and before he could even try, Gin would be trying manually pump the life back into this woman. An effort that would warm this man a bit as he was happy to see him trying to save his friend, but ultimately it.....worked? His eye's would widen as he spied the monitor, her heart showing life again. For that moment, the world seemed to lighten as his face was one of pure joy. "Haru!" He would find himself shouting, and immediately that joy would be replaced with a bit of embarrassment and concern. He wouldn't dare look to Gin, but from the look on the old woman's face, that stern glare, he knew it was time to leave.

With a gasp, Haru's eye's would open, fluttering lightly as she would be treated to a a familiarly annoying light. Her vision had yet to adjust as was the case with her mind. It too would be a bit fuzzy as she simply continued to lie there. She feeling the bedding underneath her, as well as the cover which was neatly placed over her. Slowly her mind would return to what she could remember, and that would be the fight she had been through, and the civilians which she had saved. Somewhere in there she could remember that Gin had came along, and he assured her they were safe. Though her vision was still blurred, she would try and move to sit up.

Her body immediately rejecting that idea as pain surged through her. Even had that not stopped her, the stressed muscles as well as the bandages covering her would have certainly hindered her progress. With a sigh, she would simply let her body fall back, as she tried to just deal with the grogginess. A familiar feeling of someone who had certainly been out for more than a day. "How long was I out for?" She would question to no one in particular in a tired voice. She unaware to the presence of someone at her bed side. Though she would soon become very much aware of them as her vision began to clear up. Although that would be if they hadn't already spoken up as she made it clear she was awake.

After Haru awakened and the blood transfusion went underway, he slowly relaxed and sighed as he fell to his chair and simply munched on cookies after cleaning the blood from his hands to keep his blood sugar high as Haru got about two liters of blood to get her back into the safe-zone as he looked tired after the blood loss, a few bandages on him but mostly fine- especially in comparison to Haru's whole-body cleaning and bandaging she had gone through unconscious. Sighing a bit as he leaned back and relaxed, he blinked and glanced at her and arched a brow as he had allowed her friend to stay with her after the bandaging and everything else was done.

He had finally relaxed, trying to think of what that had been ... he knew just where to hit, somehow through instinct before he even had time to react normally. He sighed a bit, Haki? Had he awakened his Kenbunshoku Haki? His father had said it was similar, and he had seen all of them utilizing it for the most part. Slowly he leaned back, crossing his ankles in thought as he rubbed his nose thinking. He found himself dozing a few hours later, and finally falling into slumber alongside Haru before he blinked a bit as he awakened to her struggling and then kinda just flopping and looking toward him- relief flooded him. She sounded weak but very much alive and kicking for the most part.

He grinned some at her question, "You've been out about a day I think ... I fell asleep watching over you. Sorry. Not entirely certain." He scooted the chair to her side and checked her temperature with a hand to her head. "Hm. You seem to have recovered really well. I'm glad." He commented idly before he leaned back and frowned some, "You gave me a scare there, Haru. Your other friend to." He commented with a sigh as he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest, "I'm sorry. It's my fault- I didn't consider a rat in the citizens and it makes sense to do so with how they were acting with them." Rubbing his nose a bit he shook his head, "I'm just glad your alright at least. If I hadn't gotten you when I did ..."

He sighed as he leaned forward, examining her wounds as he arched a brow. "It'll take you a few solid weeks to heal up from those injuries yah' know ..." He commented as he leaned forward a bit, chin in his palm. "You'll have to rest so that your training can begin once you're all healed up." He grinned some, wanting to make it seem like saving her wasn't a big deal- he was guilty enough, he didn't need to make her think she had caused him to much strain anyway. As well, he needed time to understand this Haki he had awakened and learn how to properly control it- something he would need quite a bit of free time to understand he was sure.

Leaning back he propped his feet up as he crossed his arms over his chest, watching her relaxed in the bed as he debated what to tell her now and what not to- he decided to leave the Haki bit out. But he should tell her of the other importance's, "The civilians are here and settling back in fine, the men have a perimeter set up to keep watch and fire on any cultists that appear. The cultists lost about twenty of their crazy ass priests and the rest just got severely injured or knocked out. Their leader lost the fingers on one hand by my blade- but got away. They're out there still and know we're here, so we have yet another thing on our list of to-do's ... gonna be a long stay on this island it seems." He chuckled weakly as he eyed her and his eyes softened a bit.

"Are you alright ...?"
"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."

The sound of Gin's voice would be both surprising and refreshing, only causing this young woman to close her eyes with a smirk forming on her lips. "Checking up on me, mama?" She would of course weakly tease her Captain. Though it was to be at his expense, there was a more sincere backdrop to this. Her doing that, would at least let him know she was feeling well enough to have a bit of fun. As well as of course, the smirk on her face which formed into an equally weak smile. It brought her a bit of joy to actually for once have someone who cared for her out side of a choice few. She would let a chuckle escape her at this, but she would immediately regret it as it would only cause pain to shoot through her body as she moved about. This was all too familiar to her, to be bed ridden like this. The last time being when Thalia had rescued her from her home island. Though she would remain quiet about it, not wanting to alarm Gin into thinking this would be happening to her for a third time.

Instead she would peacefully rest, cheek against the pillow looking away from him as he spoke. He mentioning he having fallen asleep watching over her. The scare she had given him and her friend. He would eventually apologize and mention something that caught her attention. He purposely dodging saying what would have happened had he not gotten to her when he did. "I'd be dead." She would finish for him, taking her head from her pillow and rotating it to rest on her other cheek, eye's now facing him. "Don't worry about apologizing, no one anticipated it. I'm sure you disappointed more than you know by saving me." She knew it wasn't something he wanted to hear, but it was the truth. She wasn't a well liked person, if for nothing else but where she comes from, her quirks. She expected him to scold her for talking like that, and she would only offer him a smile if he did.

"Kaji, the "friend" of mine." She would blurt out, practically randomly, perhaps even cutting him off from what he was saying. "Do you know why the two of us are friends? We both understand one another, me more so understanding what he is going through with the other recruits. To be the outcast whom no one seems to care about." She would solemnly add, though retaining her smile as she spoke. "It's no secret that for the most part, I am hated for little to no reason other than the little nicknames I've been given. I just want Kaji to know what it's like to have someone that cares, kind of like what I've gotten with you." A certain look in her eyes, and even through the weakness in her voice, one could still feel the sincerity of it. Though no matter how he would react, the conversation would continue as normal afterwards.

He making mention of how long she would be bedridden, and the plans for when she could get up and go. Something that only brought a pained snicker out of her. "Oh right, I still owe you an asskicking, don't I?" She would continue to jest, attempting to keep the mood light. Though it wouldn't seem to be working that much as after some time, Gin's face would read as one that was troubled by something. She couldn't tell what, but she knew something was in the back of his mind that bothered him. It would only cause her to frown as she continued to lie there quietly, he eventually letting her know the state of affairs. Something she accepted with a nod as she tried to analyze his facial expressions further to see if this was really it. Her body the way it was though, and her own state of mind, she couldn't tell for sure. He would of course soon interrupt her train of thought with a question of if she was alright.

Truth be told, she was doing as good as one could in her spot. She did briefly consider answering with a simple yes, though after a small but of thought, really what was the fun in it? Besides, much like she did with the civilians, she had better intentions on her mind. "No, at the moment I'm not actually." She would begin with a serious tone, looking to drag the man along for a moment. "If you wouldn't mind Captain, assuming all I need is some rest. Could you help me to my own bed? I wanna free up this space for those who have actual medical emergencies other than my case of being lazy." The seriousness would drop from her voice as her good will of putting others before herself came though. She still looking to ease the mood up a bit. "You can even set up a chair next to it and continue watching if you want." She would offer with a small chuckle.

He frowned a bit at her telling him not to apologize, but he couldn't just let it go so easily. Sighing he leaned back and listened to her after his explanation- snorting a bit at the other marines stupidity. "They are fools. The same kind of fools that think Fishmen are monsters, or that World Nobles are gods. We'll be needing a new crew I think." He commented idly in distaste before he straitened up a bit and rolled his shoulder's before he smiled a bit at her words on her friend, Kaji. "He'll especially become one of the new crew then. That's the kind of people I want I think ... those that know the darker side but are no worse for wear for it, like you."

Nodding a bit as he grinned at her comment, "You do. So soon as your healed up you'll proceed to try to during our eight hour sparring sessions every day till you manage it- and then you'll keep doing so till you can beat me." He chuckled as he slowly rose up and nodded in agreement, smiling weakly. "Thank you for the honesty." He commented simply in response to her words, obviously appreciating it as he would gently reach down and scoop her up once more- fireman carrying her if she could manage such and if not simply hauling her up bridal style instead. Getting ahold of her I-V and its stand in his hand as he would transfer her over to the main barracks.

He took her toward her own room- instead of the actual barracks it was larger than before and there was a plaque on it now saying "Akiyama Haruka, Chief Warrant Officer". He grinned a bit, "Your promotion was official when I gave my report earlier. You're easily twice as powerful as you were before, that combined with the improvements you have gained in decision making and how well you gave orders and kept the civilians alive- you earned the position. You're my new first mate, Haruka." He smiled a bit, and once he had her settled to rest he would take out a slim book and placed it by her bedstand.

"Your friend, Kaji- left that for you before retiring to bed." He nodded some, before he would make sure the I-V was still set up, and she was relaxed and comfortable as he would plop in the chair and cross his legs. "I'll stay simply because I don't trust leaving you in such an injured state alone, especially after a promotion with how our ... government, works." He stated distastefully as he simply leaned back and closed an eye patiently, waiting for any response from her- and if none came that was fine as well. He would of course answer her, but if not he would simply relax next to her as he continued his thoughts on the "Haki" he had possibly awakened.

Gin needed some way to be sure that was what he had awakened- he needed to talk to his father. Of course that would take some doing and he had responsibilities to Haruka and his men- this island in general before anything else. But it was something to remember as he tried to train this force on his own, preferably he would manage to have it to the point he could summon it up at will so that his father could properly train him in it as a whole. Shrugging from the thoughts he opened his eyes and examined her a moment before smiling softly, "Ah- by the way. Your blade- I was curious if you wanted me to have a look at it and maybe get you something less limiting. It was hanging to a limp arm, so I assume the man targeted it and took away your main offensive abilities?"

All Haruka could do was smile at the words that Gin offered to her, as well as Kaji. She was glad that the Captain would see to him as she had for so long now, and the aspect of a new crew was an exciting one. Though it still bugged her a bit on the inside. What if the new recruits were just as mean as the current, or worse. It troubled her for a few seconds before she would slowly allow herself to recline back with the safety net of assuming that Gin would at least have a hand in picking them out. "You're too kind, ....sir." She would say, breaking away with a bit of a yawn before finishing with the formality. She showing a face which only missed her sticking her tongue out as she teased him with the knowledge of knowing he disliked that name. Though her playfulness would come at a price as the yawn was showing that she was becoming a bit tired from this conversation.

She would remain awake, if just barely as Gin spoke about her training, she just barely able to get a hand up and wave it in dismissal. "Seven and a half too long for all I need with you. I'll have you begging long before that." This would of course be followed with a light laugh, though it would soon turn into an equally light cough as her body was still not prepared for such an action. Perhaps it wasn't ready either to be carried, as she wanted. She wincing heavily as she would be lifted up onto this man's shoulders. Though she would deny any advance to drop her to bridal style, as to spare this man the rumors that could circulate from a pair of eyes that caught this. She would prove a bit of resilience as she would grit her teeth as she simply endured up to her door. She caught a bit off guard as they would walk past the main barracks where she had been staying, and the two would come to a stop at another door. She weakly getting her head up to look towards it and notice the plaque on it.

Of course he would explain, and had she been in her normal state, she would have been all smiles. This was huge for her, the acknowledgement, and the trust she was getting from her Captain, it wasn't anything she was used to by any stretch. "Well, perhaps I'll live long enough to make you not regret this." She would offer almost grimly as she allowed her head to come back to a rest on his shoulder. "Thank you Captain, You actually have no idea how much this means to me." She would offer with a certain tone to her voice. Perhaps it was the wounds, and her vulnerable state. Regardless, she would feel a certain lump in her throat as her eyes began to water. Her mind immediately beginning to argue with her over this action. "Why are you crying?" She would do her best to hide this from Gin for the time being, keeping silent and refusing to make any sound, she could only hope that she didn't let a tear drop down onto his shoulder.

She would thusly be put to bed, she doing her best to wipe her eyes, hopefully undetected, if he hadn't already noticed. Regardless, he would present her with a book from Kaji, something which would be immediately retired to the nightstand next to her. Her Captain making a decision for her as she wasn't in the condition to even try to look at it, but still, a certain curiosity would hit her. "What is it?" She would ask quite forwardly. No matter the answer, Gin would be quick to explain his intentions of staying, and it only made her frown in a playful way. "Well, I'm insulted. You're not doing it just to spend time with me?" She would continue to tease, though by the look on his face which would come some time after. The mood in the room would certainly become more tense. That thing which was eating at Gin was still at it, and her eye's would show that she was doing her best to make sense of it.

Though her mind trying to rationalize it was only working against her body which was becoming increasingly more weak over the course of her being awake. Her eye's would practically be closed as Gin asked her about her weapon. She letting out another small yawn as she weakly opened her eyes, doing what she could to remain awake. "He attacked me from behind, and yes he targeted my shoulder. Perhaps.....that would......be best." She would answer, her words coming further and further between as she slowly slipped away back to her slumber. Though she was now in the comfort of her own bed and it showed as she slept peacefully. Leaving Gin to go back to what was on his own mind, including now what he would do regarding her weapon, as she did agree to allow him to "get her something better".

Ginjo made a face when she called him sir, muttering about 'if she wasn't already in such poor shape'. Of course her teasing brought a slight smile to his lips, shaking his head as he leaned down and ruffled her hair gently as he watched her start to slowly drift in and out of sleep, hiding her tears however made him not comment on them. She was entitled to her pride like anyone else after all- instead he would wait for her to calm down and nod a bit in approval, "You're welcome. I know you won't let me down- your growth as it is, is already incredible." He commented idly as he chuckled and would scoot the chair up as he crossed his ankles and leaned back- watching as she drifted in and out even more heavily.

Chuckling as she drifted off into sleep he would nod a bit and bring out a sketch pad as he would lean back and curiously look it all over. He would begin, starting on different idea's for combinations of blade, dagger, and armblade. He needed to locate a way to keep it as an arm blade until she needed it elsewhere- making it less limiting, perhaps simply adding an extendable hilt would fix the issue? He debated over this for several hours, sketching out different idea's on his thoughts with the weapon, what materials would be best for it that they could afford for her. How to craft it properly to make it have some real use, and so forth.

As time ticked by, he finally stretched and relaxed as he eyed the girl and set the pad aside- slowly closing his own eyes. He felt like he could rest at least as she slept, and as time ticked by it didn't take long for him to fade into thought on the Haki he had awakened, the weapon, as well as idea's for improving his own weaponry- he had thoughts of ways to try and amplify natural seastones powers. He wanted to find a way to make it even more effective, though of course such would take quite a bit of time and effort it was still entirely doable. Still as his thoughts traveled the hours ticked by until he finally opened his eyes when the sun of morning burst through the window- a yawn drawing from his lips.

After a few moments he glanced down at Haru sleeping and chuckled as he would rise up and head toward the door, popping it open and sticking his head out. "Yo." He called the marine on patrol, who blinked- saluting and moving forward. "Get two meals for me please. I'll cover your shift while you do." The marine nodded before heading off- Gin would sit by the open door calmly as he watched over the hallway true to his word. About ten minutes later he would accept the large platter of food with a smile, "Thank yah." He commented with a nod before bringing it in, shutting the door with his foot before he sat down slowly next to Haru and began to munch on his own meal- setting hers to the side for when she would awaken.

Gin would eat his meal before he would lean back and go back to his sketches curiously, tapping his pen against it lightly in thought. He had a solid plan out for the blade for them both now- but more importantly he was pondering idea's to increase strength without being restricted to pure training. The idea was anything but easy- he needed to get back into biological sciences if he hoped to dip into such things, not that it was impossible but it would take effort and time. Rubbing his neck he began sketching the basics from what he remembered when he originally aspired to become a doctor so long ago- it would take time but he could do it, and then help Haru get stronger through the same studies and processes he would use on himself.

Morning would come, as it always does, and though Gin would be the only one to wake. Haru still sleeping quite peacefully as her body did it's best to rest and heal. This didn't mean he would be alone, quite the opposite as barely twenty minutes later after he would get his plate of food, and begin his sketches. He would hear a soft knock on the door before it would slowly creak open. This would no doubt catch Gin's attention and soon a familiar face would be seen. The frail young man known as Kaji, he slowly leaning in to peak, his long purple hair rolling gracefully from his shoulders before his blue eyes would suddenly freeze over. His body stiffening as he would allow his eyes to settle upon Gin sitting next to Haru's bed. Quickly, if not a bit clumsily, he would enter the room with a salute. "I'm sorry, sir! I wasn't aware you were here, sir!" His voice, though hushed would be one that a man of his position would use, even if it was forced by him.

No doubt, he would soon hear the same lecture that Haru had, in either case, Kaji would be seen fumbling with something in his free hand. A mug which was filled with a liquid which gave off a familiar scent. The light steam rolling off the top and that near black coloration. Kaji was holding a cup of coffee, without a doubt for Haru. Whether Gin would notice or not, he would certainly not hesitate to explain. "There was a bit of trouble this morning, that female prisoner of ours. The men reported that she was causing a lot of noise, kicking and screaming and refusing to stop." He would shakily begin, clearly intimidated to be in the same room as his Captain, practically alone with his usual body guard out of commission. "The others eventually forced me to go watch over her because they didn't want to deal with her anymore." He would add a bit solemnly, it wasn't a pleasant memory after all, as it wasn't the first time.

Still, a hopeful if still nervous look would cross his face as he looked at Gin. "She soon stopped when she saw me, and she gave a simple request." His voice would trail off a bit as he remembered it in his mind. The look on her face as she would get his attention, a certain genuine to it as she grinned from ear to ear as if she was looking forward to it. Slowly he would raise the cup up, presenting it to Gin, with her request coming from his lips. "Here is my power, heal up soon." He would say with an unnatural firmness from him. "This is what she wanted me to tell Haru when I got the coffee for her." He would explain quite quickly, quoting her and giving way to something that would make sense to Haru, though possibly not to Gin. Walking over gingerly, he would settle it down next to the plate of food. "Personally, I don't think she needs to drink it in her current state, but the gesture is a nice one." He would nod with a bit of certainty to his name. "So, how is she doing?"

Ginjo made a face as the man called him 'sir' and he whacked him lightly with the back of his sketchbook. "Don't call me that. Makes me feel like I'm some responsible adult." He scolded lightly before he motioned for him to take a seat on the opposite side of Haruka. He listened quietly as he traced and drew- slowly closing the book as he looked up to the man and arched a brow as he heard what the had woman said. "Hm. It will be her choice when she wakes up- if she think's she's up for it then I won't stop her." He commented with a nod as he examined the man, before looking back toward Haru as he leaned back and crossed his ankles lightly. "She's fine, it'll take her about a week to recover likely. But she wont suffer any permanent damage."

He clarified this as he watched Kaji for a few moments before he leaned back and looked at the ceiling. "The rest of the crew are going to be removed from their position shortly, Kaji." He commented simply as his blue eyes trailed down and examined the frail looking man's reaction to this new information. "I won't tolerate bullying and segregation in my division. They're lucky I don't toss them into the ocean one by one myself." He clarified as his eyes slowly closed and he let out a sigh of annoyance. "Honestly. Ignorance and idiocy really is a dominating role in this it seems." He complained to himself before shaking his head and sighing as he would ensure that everything was in order- answer any questions Kaji had before eating the meal peacefully.

As time ticked by he would note a flutter of Haruka's eyelashes and simply lean back and watch her as he sipped a cup of tea, having begun reading through a large book on medical sciences that he had located within the library over the hours of waiting. He intended to get back into the swing of true medical study after all, and it would take time and effort to get back to where he was before all of this happened. Flipping through the pages he simply glanced at Haruka patiently between the points that he was not reading, not overly concerned as he knew the girl would be fine but still making sure she was in fact awakening and he wasn't seeing things.

Once she finally did fully awaken he would place the tray of food across her lap with a smirk. "Afternoon sleepy head." He commented idly as he flipped a page and continued his reading, finding it amusing that she was resting so well- it was good. The fact she had no trouble sleeping meant she was healing properly and there was no issues internally for her. He smiled and slowly looked back toward the book as he began to study into the medical properties of stem cells and how they could plausibly be used to regenerate lost flesh if done in the correct compound and chemical makeup. The idea was extremely attractive to him, especially with recent injuries- if he could speed up the healing Haruka had to undergo even a few days it would help tremendously.

For now though- he had to study and focus.

Kaji would of course take this Captain's offer of a seat next to his friend. Though the hospitality wouldn't put him at ease, if anything it made him even more nervous. He was someone who was used to being the wall flower, never the one who sought attention, and now it was just he and Gin left to talk. He couldn't even look him in the eyes, gently nodding his head at what Gin said about trading the crew out. On the inside, he should have been jumping for joy, no longer would Malatoff's cronies hold any power over him, and certainly the idea of tossing them into the ocean was enticing. Still, he couldn't help but feel a slight tinge of something in his stomach, guilt, remorse? He actually felt somewhat bad about the fact, though he wouldn't dare say anything to challenge it.

He was happy though to hear before all this that Haru was going to be fine, and he tried to hold onto that knowledge to help his mood. Though all it did was end with him smiling like a goof in his seat in an awkward sort of way. Perhaps it was just the way Kaji was, and the only person who would know would be the woman sleeping next to them. As the time would go on, and Kaji would be allowed to ask questions, something that Gin would perhaps notice. The man never asked anything about his own standings, or anything other than Haruka related questions. "How are you liking her?" "Do you think she's going to do great things?" general questions, but certainly a bit of an oddity for everything to be related to her. It did show a bit of insight however, as she was most certainly his only friend. Someone he cared for deeply it appeared, and he just wanted to be sure she was doing well. Even if it made him seem all the more awkward than he already appeared.

Finally, after the small exchange, he would raise from his seat, and make his way for the door. Opening it and cracking it before he would turn on his heels. Looking to Gin, he would bring up a hand to salute him, his body straightening up. For a split second he looked like an actual Marine, and he felt like it too as he would with the up most confidence announce. "Well, you seem to have everything well in hand, I trust her to you, sir!" annnnd in that split second all confidence would drain and he would turn ghost white. "Why would you do that?! He told you not to call him that!" He would scream at himself internally. Immediately he seizing up as he looked terrified. "Ma'am!" If it were possible, this man just seemed to turn even whiter as a look of true horror crossed his face. "He's going to kill meeeeee" His mind cried out to him in agony. "Sir!" nearly whimpering at this point, all he could do was abandon ship on this. Running from the room, he would look to go right for his second favorite hiding spot on the ship, since his number one was currently occupied by whom he was running from, awkward indeed.

Some time would pass before Haruka would begin to show the first signs of waking up. Her eyes fluttering open lightly, she letting out a slight groan of displeasure from waking. That damned sun was invading her room and making everything so terrible! Before long, she would have a tray placed across her lap. She hearing Gin's voice from her side, causing her to roll her head over as it rested on her pillow, a smile forming on her lips. "Still here hmm?" She would muse, a certain warmness to her voice as she said this. Her mind beginning to register what he said as the fog was clearing. "It's amazing right? A slash down my back and all I can do is sleep." She would offer with that same warmness, though a hint of mischief in her weak voice. Still, she would eye the tray in front of her, and this would leave her a difficult task indeed. In her condition, even the small deal of just positioning herself to being seated was difficult.

She could be heard groaning, wincing and all sorts of uncomfortable sounds and gestures as she did her best to slide herself up the bed. A wrong move meaning that the slash wound on her back would immediately push back against her. Plus that tray which was on her lap meant she had to be careful on top of all this due to not wanting to send it to the floor. Though with persistence, and perhaps a bit of assistance from Gin, she would prevail, and soon with a fork in hand, she would try to enjoy what she had been given. Though she would be taking her time, as each movement was quite painful, but that would fully stop her. Though after a moment it would be clear she needed something to drink, she looking to Gin with a hopeful look that she had something on the side to enjoy. Whatever was handed to her, tea or even the coffee that was brought to her, she could be seen drinking quite greedily before letting out a small gasp before she went back to her slow pace with her food. "So, is there anything new going on around the base? How are the civilians doing?" She would ask, trying to retain a certain professionalism, even when bedridden like she was.

Gin simply nodded a bit to Kaji when he asked his questions, answering them easily with a very laid-back demeanor as he would blink at the man who looked like a marine for once. However it quickly broke as he watched Kaji break down and shook his head in amazement as the man simply ran off. "... Sometimes I wonder about people." He stated simply with a chuckle, as he would lean back and wait as he knew it would take a bit of time for her to awaken, he simply flipped through his sketches between bites of the biscuit and pork. Sipping the tea occasionally as he would patiently wait for her- once she had he would glance down at her and chuckle a bit at her words.

"Well at least you can actually sleep. Having an injury and being unable to rest is one of the worst feelings." He commented as he flipped another page calmly, when she moved to get comfortable for food he would help best he could- holding the tray up for her and helping her up lightly until she was settled and had the food before her. He would sink back into the chair, crossing his legs at the ankles as he read over his book- handing her the drink made for her by the woman with a chuckle. "She says this is her power, get better." He stated simply before he nodded at her questions. "They're settling back into their homes, it'll take a bit ... and a few are missing from when they all lived here, but we saved over seventy villagers in total it appears."

He commented this simply before he would smile a bit, "You did really well, Haruka. Though next time try not to be a Martyr for them, alright?" He chuckled softly shaking his head a bit before he would make sure she finished her food before turning the page and placing the sketchbook in her lap instead. On the page was a complex sketch of the weapon he had in mind for her- it was a blade much like the one she carried around but with a few major changes. The first was it was crafted from well made steel, and the second was that it was a single large fingerless gauntlets of leather- with a large piece of metal molded worn over it which held large metal rings wrapping it to the arm at just above the wrist, around the palm, and just under the elbow. The glove there to halt chaffing.

Inside the actual palm was a switch, this switch then caused a stored blade as long as the forearm to expand outward and lock in place from the wrist. There was then another that flipped, causing a handle to extend from the elbow-side of the metal as well as a cross-hilt to spring out and lock from ether side. This allowing it to effectively change from an arm-blade and an actual blade without trouble- and would end her risk of being disabled if one arm was done. A simple press of a button would solve the issue immediately. "Means you get the handle. Also means you don't awkwardly carry a arm blade around, you can just keep it stored in the metal and whenever you need it hit the switch."

His comment drew a smirk as he leaned back and tapped a foot lightly, "I also had a few idea's related to adding a few more offensive potential to it if you're interested in the idea. Using dials for an answer to different situations, flames, rotating blade, so forth." He shrugged as it was just an idea as he settled back and watched her curiously. "I'll have to make sure to train you how to use a normal blade as well- so when you have to use it that way your not uncomfortable and it still feels natural for combat." He pondered aloud before glancing toward the window and his lip twitched a bit in amusement. "I never thought I'd be teaching people ... interesting how stuff turns out."

He chuckled a bit and shrugged before looking back to her, "Anything in specific you want for the weapons- or anything as far as things you'll be fighting, seeing, and so forth here?" He asked, tilting his head a bit in curiosity as he did so.

All Haru could do was lightly chuckle at her Captain's words about her sleeping. "It's like my favorite thing to do, so this is just an excuse to do that as much as I want." She would of course continue with her teasing of the man. Though, mid way into her meal, she would need her drink and her Captain would hand her that mug of coffee repeating what Kaji had quoted from the woman. She would naturally take a long drink from it and let a content sigh fall from her lips which curled into a knowing smile. "I'm still holding out hope for her, I still don't think she's nearly as bad as she's been painted to be." She would address to Gin, she looking at her plate as she contently ate her meal. Listening contently as he would possibly address her statement, and if not, what he said about the civilians.

It would bring a warm feeling to her, granted they hadn't managed to get everyone. Still, the ones she had freed were settling in as best they could. She would intend to comment, but before she could he would make a joke about her current condition. Something she would offer with a shrug of her shoulders and an indifferent look on her face as she continued to eat. "I never have nothing left to give, so long as I'm still breathing. I would have been happily dead knowing I ave them the time they needed to escape." She would manage between her devouring of the plate. Granted she knew that this would likely come with a scolding as her somewhat grim mindset was not something that set well with her Captain. The direction would soon shift towards the weapon idea.

She would be happy to see that the overall idea of her weapon was in tact. She wouldn't be required to learn a whole new way of fighting, well at least until later in that conversation when he told her she would that is. "Well, I think any edge I can get over others is perhaps for the better. Nearly dying a few times is getting rather old." She would follow this up with a chuckle as he would mention the offensive capabilities she could look into. He would go further into details and even having a small laugh about things. "Isn't that just what people in your position do? I know you don't like it due to how it sounds, but. You lead the men by example, and in turn you teach them everyday in how to act and be, apparently without even realizing it." She would be quick to point out.

Perhaps aiming to put his mind a bit at ease to the whole idea. Whether it would or not, she would look to answer his final question. She staring by raising a hand as she slowly shook her head. That alone would be enough to tell him that she didn't have any questions off the top of her head, or any ideas. Though she wouldn't be one to just do things silently. "I trust you in having my best interests as a top priority. Whatever you think is best for me, and I'll trust you till the end." She would have the strangest amount of sincerity in her tone, a certain seriousness that just overtook a conversation. Though it would be ruined as she simply finished off her mug of coffee quite loudly and looked down at an empty plate with a content sigh.

Ginjo chuckled a bit at her words, "I can see that. Well, sleep is a healthy habit I suppose." He chuckled before he then leaned down and nodded a bit, "She's showing some room for recovery, we'll see how she goes. If she actually continues on this road she may be a good ally one day." Shrugging slightly be would whack her very lightly on the head. "What good is it if you die? If you die, that's all you saved- these people. Sure, that's nice. But what about the thousands you would save if you live? Never just decide 'I'm going to buy time'. Decide 'I'm going to buy time- and try to escape while I do'. If you don't try to survive you may as well have not bothered."

The lecture was not so much a scolding, but telling her that dying had no purpose- even acting as a a human shield, it would do nothing but halt those you could save in the future. It was fine to play Hero- he did it all the time, but you had to have a backup plan- several of them in fact to keep you alive as well or it was all pointless when it ended there. Sighing he would let the subject drop of course but he refused to not say his piece, he didn't need her dying he needed her alive and to grow strong alongside him. He made a face as she commented that he was the one that the men looked up to, followed and learned from by example. "Not this bunch apparently. Or they would have learned day one not to do this stupid segregation bullshit."

He shook his head a bit and sighed before he would blink at her sincere statement- it actually rendered him quiet for a few moments as he watched her simply enjoy the hot coffee and meal, rubbing the back of his head in surprise. Slowly he chuckled and shook his head, "Well. You managed to make me speechless." He chuckled as he rose up and rubbed the back of his head before he would nod a bit. "In that case I'm going to go and start working on your new weapon." He commented, taking her meal and grinning- "I'll visit you three times a day and make sure you're getting everything you need to heal up, you job is to rest and recover- got it?"

Smiling a bit before he would turn and head out, making sure to respond to any last minute statement she had before he would tuck the sketchbook under his arm and place the tray down by the kitchen sink- he would do his rounds, waving to the civilians- talking about what supplies were needed where, the actual military force for the town before it all went bad, where to position them, train them and re-enforce them so that everyone could recover properly. It took him a solid two hours just to get to the forge for the town where he would tap the large burly man that was there on the shoulder and ask if he could borrow the furnace, to the man's surprise and nod- asking if he needed lessons.

Ginjo's lips curled a bit at that and he laughed, thanking him but declining as he would take up the hammer- and work the forge like it was second nature. His mothers training ingrained into him as he used the oil, and his own tinkering to carve the molds he needed for the different complex mechanisms- the springload, cogs and triggers that would be needed as he took his time mixing the iron, salts, and carbon together to forge the steel- molding it and hammering the blade out- sharpening and elongating it as he would finally get the weapon down and start to actually put it together. He didn't pay attention to time until he finally finished the blacksmithing-half of the weapons creation and noted the fact it was pitch black.

Slowly he blinked and rubbed his neck with a chuckle as he would carefully set the materials into the oil to cool and stay well polished, cared for and so forth as he placed a tarp over everything and would head up to Haruka, giving her a simple wave with a grin. "Sorry. Two visits today- did someone get you your lunch?" He asked curiously, holding the tray for dinner in his hands with a chuckle. "Didn't intend to get so wrapped up in its creation, but I was enjoying myself ... I haven't gotten to actually just work like that in a long time." He pondered, shrugging as he entered and would place the tray of food down in front of her once more- helping her get situated again if need be before he did so.

"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."
