Several days had passed since the takeover of the base- and the screams of the slavers filled the air constantly, the other marines were a bit unsure about it all. However they let it be, despite how he acted toward the pirates he never once was anything but kind and protective to Haruka and his men. Currently, Gin was sitting in the room with the last pirate that needed interrogated- the one whom had countered him had given in instantly, admitting all he had known- he had been a coward at heard and after hearing countless pirates screams of pain and cower in terror from Gin- the idea was in his head to spill his guts as soon as he asked.

Now, Ginjo sat across from the woman that had nearly snapped Haruka's spine- she stared him down and he stared right back, cold, impassive as she sneered softly. "You won't get anything out of me, boy." He slowly leaned back and closed his eyes, seeming to simply wait- after nearly five minutes she began to fiddle. He still said nothing, he was silent as he leaned back and more and more time ticked by- ten minutes became thirty, forty became an hour, an hour became three. Eventually the woman's head fell forward as she sighed and simply tried to go to sleep, her guard dropped and that was what Ginjo needed- who's hands shot out and grabbed her by the skull- slamming it into his knee as it came forward.

The crack of her nose filled the air as she cried out in pain and fell back in shock- wanting to hold her face, but unable to do so from her arms bound behind her back and tied to her chair. Ginjo calmly returned to his sitting as she watched him warily, one eye squinted as the blood dripped from her nose, his cool eyes kept on her's as she slowly closed her eyes and let her head drop slowly. He knew they were slavers, he knew their bosses name and much of the island, that they had taken the citizens a week ago and they weren't to be sold for another two weeks. But he didn't have the location. This woman had the location and he intended fully- to force it out of her.

Raising a hand he moved forward and pushed the chair back, causing a yelp from her lips as she fell backward to the bound chair laying on her back and bound arms awkwardly. He then simply reached up and set up a basic rig on her chair with a small bag- cutting an incredibly small hole in the corner, before he then stuck a clasp on it. Causing a slow drip- weighing the chair down so it couldn't be moved, nor could she- she was forced to stare up at the water or turn her head as the water hit her again and again, once every five minutes seemed to be the pattern. He didn't say a word as he turned, and exited the room- locking it as the woman laughed, "Like this is going to do anything ...!"

However her tone was not nearly as strong as it was in the past, hours of sitting alone with him, days of getting minimal sleep, of physical abuse- but not constant, but instead sudden lashes that sent her into shock, combined with constant unorthadox methods of torture was slowly grinding down her psyche as the hours were passing. He left her that way, until she began screaming in frustrations- and he still ignored her, finally after a full day of this she finally weakly called. "You win ..." A marine fetched Gin and Haruka, and he calmly waited for the anti-sun woman by the entrance of the interrogation chamber as he leaned against the stone wall patiently waiting.

The last few days have been something of interest to Haruka. A woman who by all rights perhaps shouldn't have been kept as close as she has been to the Captain. Far from a prestigious title other than the designated map reader, she was still however treated with more adoration that she believed she earned. One of said reasons would be the Pirates which were constantly heard howling in pain. Each of them a simple method to pry into the minds of the two important ones who showed some skill. Though some would drop a nugget of useful info here and there, it still wasn't enough. Perhaps it would be morbid curiosity that Haruka would find herself leaning up against the wall on the other side of the door, listening to see "learn something" as she convinced herself, though deep down she knew better.

Such things were not uncommon for her, especially on her home island where her people were savages at best. Relentless beasts whom acted off of instinct and impulse to survive. She one of the few who was rescued from such a life and brought into the world to continue the learning process. Still the shrill screams of what remained as "prey" in her mind was somewhat enticing, as if calling forth the beast within. Such was the case when she could be found leaning against the wall as the woman who nearly ended her was carted in. Haruka offering her a sharp yet wordless glance as she was shoved in to be interrogated. It wouldn't be until she heard the woman scream that a sadistic grin crept over her lips, she baring her teeth a bit as she felt satisfied. As painful as the loss stung at her pride, still to get the last laugh was more than she could ask for. Still, she offered little to nothing, something that even she would have to acknowledge.

As Gin would exit the room, she would soon join him at his side. The woman's strength still clear in her mind as after hours of this, she remained quiet. "She's a determined one..." Haru would offer with a sigh and a simple shake of her head. "I'm unsure however if it's out of her own strength or the fear of what her superiors might do if she ratted on them." It was an interesting thought for the pale woman who continued to converse with Gin over the situation. Still, the day would go on, and eventually it would pass.

The next day, Haruka would still be passed out in her bed when a Marine practically beat her door down. The woman whom could be found as per usual sprawled out on her bed, covers kicked away haphazardly as she peacefully slept. The loud noise would only cause her to scrunch her nose and groan out in annoyance. Her immediate reaction to grab the covers and roll over to bury herself under them and try and ignore this. Though when her fingers only touched air. She would find her eyes fluttering open ever so lazily and a loud sigh coming from her as she realized she had practically kicked her noise shield to the floor. Begrudgingly she would sit herself up and begin to get ready, as much as she hated too. It wouldn't be long before she would be making her way for the door of the interrogation room. She to spot Gin whom was waiting for her,s he offering a weak wave as her drowsed eyes and equally exhausted looking expression offered not even a small grin. "....Captain...." She would offer in her usual freshly awoken greeting.

Ginjo arched a brow at her usual morning welcome, and he chuckled softly. Shaking his head as he placed a cup of warm coffee loaded with sugar in her hands, and flipped her hood up for her to get the sun out of her eyes. "Mornin' Haruka. Try not to be to grumpy, it's a good day." He commented with a smile as they would moved forward, pushing the door open as it revealed the young woman- bags under her eyes, pale and bruised, she was definitely not having a good week as Ginjo crossed his arms under his chest. "Well?" He questioned, the woman's cool eyes watching Haruka for a moment and she almost sneered- but Ginjo twitched and she flinched, sucking her teeth instead in annoyance.

She focused on Ginjo and sighed, "... Our boss is Petrovich Gannibal ... goes by the name 'Clinking Gan' because of the chains he lugs around." She murmured, looking toward Ginjo whom frowned- the man was a fairly well known criminal of the blues, seem's he moved his operations into the Grand Line finally. A head worth 30,000,000 Beli- it wasn't something to sniff at, even for the beginning of the grand line. Rubbing his chin he watched her a moment and knelt down to be on eye-level with her, the woman's eyes trailed to the side- obviously not a fan of looking into his eyes filled with a desire to rip her throat out in cold blood for even being affiliated with such a man.

"Where is he? Where are the civilians?" he asked coldly, and the woman cleared her throat, closing her eyes as she slowly gathered herself and looked down after a moment. "... They're within the underground tunnels- under the church. There are some priests there that practice some ... questionable versions of the islands religion." She frowned some and glanced to the side, "They hold a cerimony once a week. So one of them is gone already likely. But the rest should still be alive ...!" She added desperately, she could practically feel his rage radiating off him as he ground his teeth, resisting the urge to just bash the womans head into the floor a few times to get the point across her own actions had cost an innocent their life.

After a moment, he reigned himself in- and in a voice filled with loath asked a single question more, "Where is he?" She blinked slowly and frowned, "The civilians are with the priests like I said ... I don't know about him. He could be anywhere by now, after he finishes a deal he moves on for more stoc- ... I mean, more ... people, to um. Gather." Ginjo nearly snarled, "You mean gather the merchandise? Get some stock to sell?" He murmured in such a blood-curdling rage that she shrank back in fear as he grabbed her by the throat. "You worthless piece of shit ..." He murmured coldly, shaking as she shivered in fear, eyes clenched tight- but he dropped her as he slowly rose and turned. "You're not worth the effort ..." He hissed, exiting out the door.

Whenever Haruka would as well he would look toward the guards, "Get her back in her cell. No more torture, get her patched up and ... go easy on her for a bit. Maybe after this she'll start to change. Unlikely but possible." He muttered, before looking toward Haruka, "Thoughts on it all?" He asked with a frown.

Haruka's face would only be a blank glare as she eyed this man up before her eyes traveled down to the mug he had offered her. He was getting rather used to the routine with her it seemed. perhaps tired of seeing her with that grumpy look each day he would put to use what he suggested before with the coffee. The smell undeniable as it would reach her nostrils, the light steam emitting from the top of the mug. He would even go so far as to flip her hood up, the action bringing a weak smirk to her lips as she simply shook her head. "There is no such thing Captain, only good nightfall." She would dryly answer, though she would offer an equally dry chuckle to assure him she was at least willing to perk up.

Taking a sip of the liquid she had been offered, the sweetness of the sugar counteracting the nature of the coffee, making it more desirable to her, she would hope this would work. Though for the time being she would simply follow the man into the next room where their captive waited. Even for her whom took a small amount of enjoyment out of hearing this woman's pain for what she tried to do to her. The sight on the other hand was a whole different story, off putting even. Still, she couldn't help but offer her small wave as would notice the look on her face upon seeing her. No doubt she hated knowing that Haruka was still around. Though things would slowly go downhill from here as Gin would take her attention to go about business. Haruka would naturally move to the side of the wall and become one with the wall as she leaned up against it and sipped at her coffee. Her eye's observing this man as he worked and she would for the moment be content to do that.

Though as it went on, she couldn't help but notice the anger welling up inside of Gin. She remembering what he had said about his Father and his natural distaste for Slavers. More so than the rest of the world as their kind wasn't the most, well respected. Still, he took it more personally than most and for good reason. "Easy Captain..." She would warn, she unintentionally taking the "good cop" role in this interrogation. She sensing the anger from him as well as the woman, and though she deserved this, she didn't want Gin to lose control. She would only be allowed another drink, she lightly breathing into her mug to cool it before she would be forced to act. She noticing that he had grabbed this woman by the throat. Practically choking, she would move from her position and grab him by the shoulder. "Woah, woah, just calm down." She would begin, she only holding onto him with her free hand.

She knowing she had little chance of actually stopping the man if he didn't want her too. "Listen, she's being cooperative now, and it's likely she's just following orders. Don't take it out on her, save it for the one pulling the strings." The way the woman had looked away as she described things, particularly at the Priests "rituals". It stuck out to Haru in a way that did suggest that perhaps it was as she said, maybe this woman was just loyally following her commander. Was it so uncommon these days, the Marine's themselves with corrupt units. many of the men on those vessels were good men and yet forced to follow the rule of their leader no matter what. Ginjo whether she would get through to him or not, would relinquish his hold and this would allow his comrade to sigh in relief. Her eye's looking down upon the prisoner with a tinge of sympathy. It was hard to fully forgive her for what she has done, but seeing her beat up as she was, even if she tried to kill her, Haru couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

Gin would exit the door in a huff regardless and this would leave Haru alone with this woman. She able to look her in the eyes, this long after the fact. In this moment, she knew she should have felt that familiar feeling of glee. Triumph even as she was the one still standing, but deep down she couldn't muster it. "You're a strong fighter, one I hate to see in such a way." She would begin, complete sincerity in her voice as she spoke. "It's just a shame you partnered up with the wrong side, evil. I know there are good Pirates out there, I'm not asking you to drop your flags, just to make better of yourself." Haruka would allow her eyes to close as she spoke. It wasn't to condescend the woman, but merely she didn't wish to see the woman's reaction to deter her message. She wasn't intending to lecture her, merely speak out and get it off her chest.

Slowly upon opening her eyes, no matter how this woman would react, she would move forward and offer her the still half full mug of coffee she had. Holding it before this woman and resting it between her legs so that when her arms were no longer bound behind that chair she could enjoy it. "I know you called me weak, but what is strength really? In this moment, I'd say it's the power of forgiveness, enjoy the cup of coffee and heal up soon." With that, Haruka would walk past the woman, giving her a slight pat on the head as she did so before exiting the room. Of course, she would be joining the not so happy Gin whom would ruin the moment of her good nature, causing the woman to frown as he sent the guards in. "Don't you guys dare take that mug from her, you let her enjoy that or I'll gut the both of you!" She would harshly warn before her eyes would meet Gin's.

He dropping the question which plagued her mind this entire time, how did she feel on everything they had learned. It would only cause her to sigh as her now free hands dug themselves into the pockets of her jacket. "How do I feel about knowing that the crazy Priests are connected to this either way? How do I feel that the enemy is a well known criminal from the Blues who has a shot in these early waters of the Grand Line?" It isn't good." She would answer truthfully and quite grimly. Though her face would brighten a bit. "On the positive side however, We've got the information we need, and we've got perhaps some of his better fighters in custody." She would allow this information to linger for a moment, to see if this man would catch on.

" Our next step is obvious, to explore those tunnels, so long as you can play nicely, and if she will cooperate further. We even have ourselves a guide that can get us in there, as well as offer us up any names on some of Clink's heavy hitters." As Optimistic as she was being, there was still too many variables to worry about at the moment. "How flexible are you with deals?" She would ask bluntly.

Ginjo heard Haruka, and it had almost seemed like he didn't care- but had dropped her eventually and let it go as he had exited. Once they had left and gotten out into the actual hallway he muttered under his breath before he would wait for her to follow and answer, leaning back as he listened to her and closed his eyes in thought. He considered her statement silently as he debated the options to himself, before he slowly shook his head. "No. I can't trust her to lead us- being nice to her is one thing, but trusting her is another. I won't risk our lives on her leading and guiding us along." He sighed and ruffled at his hair a bit as he leaned back into the wall and debated their options quietly, nodding a bit as he heard her words.

"I agree that we do need to go explore the tunnels though. We do need to find out the heavy hitters and any other information that she can give us however, we don't want to stumble into this without a fair amount of knowledge. Hell- if we can take out his stronger crew members before we confront him it'll make this alot easier ..." He sighed some as he tucked his hands into his pockets and would wait for the guards to bring her out, shakily sipping the coffe as he eyed her. "Who are the other stronger members of the crew?" He asked in a more controlled tone, and she hesitated- before slowly frowning.

"Me and Jeren are the weakest ... there's his right and left hand men now, that's about it." She frowned some, "Kali, and Murs are his right and left. Mur's is a Archer, and Kali has a Devil Fruit of some sort. I don't know what kind, he wouldn't tell me and I never saw him fight really." Ginjo arched a brow, "How much stronger than you are they?" She frowned, "Well .. like I said I didn't really see them fight, but I know that Boss said Mur's could easily fight four of me when I asked about challenging him for his position ... and Kali always acted like Mur's was nothing to him, so he's ether really arrogant or really storing. Or both. I guess."

He eyed her, before nodding and letting the guards take her off to get some medical attention. He glanced toward her as he frowned, "Alright, well there's that. Four times stronger than her at least then if we want to think he was being serious. Which puts him a bit stronger than the other guy I fought- Jaren was what she called him?" He held his chin a moment thinking with a frown. "Which means Kali is probably as strong as me if I had to guess- and the captain is likely around there but a bit stronger than him if he's in charge." Gin frowned and sighed, settling down as he considered the options and glanced at the ceiling. "We need to be careful and pick them off if we can. There's no way I can handle both the captain and his right hand, let alone all three- at once."

He sighed and ruffled his hair, Ginjo rose up and moved toward the doorway as he glanced back at her. "We need to get you stronger as well ... problem is I don't know how easily we can do that. We only have so long, so I think first we should get those people free. Then we'll have more time to train and get stronger." He rubbed his neck as he examined her carefully, "Opinions?" He asked curiously, arching a brow in thought as he quietly began to bide his time for her answer- this was important after all. He wanted to know he had her approval, she had something that the others didn't- her personality, will, and desires would let her push past the normal limits humans had. She could get strong, just needed the right pushes.

It was unfortunate for her plan to be shot down, even if it wasn't entirely tossed aside. Still, the slight bit of disappointment showed on her face as she simply sighed. Gin would continue to talk about liking at least the aspect of exploring the tunnels, though that was going to be a tough one. Granted even her idea of having the prisoner lead them was actually fairly bad, even she recognized it as such. Still, if that woman had eyes on the area at all, then she was more useful, as well as recognizable to the others. As it stood however, they were going it alone and that meant she had to come up with a better idea. "So it's a stealth mission, more so now than ever." She would openly say, considering it for a moment. Though that would be until the guards brought the woman from the room.

Even in this situation, Haruka couldn't help but smile a bit at seeing her good deed being graciously accepted. It only elevated her pride regarding doing such a thing, even if this woman was considered a low life by the standards of the others. Haru would just remain quiet as she sat back, allowing Gin to question, nodding her head in approval to the fact that he seemed to be a bit more in control than he had been prior. As the woman spoke, one thing stood out to her the most, and that would be something regarding "Kali" as she addressed. Allowing the conversation to simply continue whilst she mulled that info over in the back her mind. As the men began to take her away, she almost couldn't resist a mischievous grin. "I'll be by later to retrieve that mug, so please don't break it." She would call out to her before, it not long before her eyes would return to Gin, the smile on her face fading, back to business.

Gin would be good in explaining his side of the rock as it were, his mind being displayed. He did have a solid plan, up until he would mention Haruka needing to become a stronger. A suggestion which cut into her deep, causing a lump to stop in her throat. It wasn't that she didn't think she needed to improve, but more the fact she knew she was nothing. After all, that woman had beaten her pretty badly, and she was one of the weakest? "Stronger?...Maybe if hell freezes over then I can get be of some use." She would grumble under her breath a bit. Whatever his reaction to it, it would come time to her time to put her mind on the table, her opinions. "Well, as you said, the civilians are the first priority." She would begin, still haunted by something and it showed.

We'd have to move on that as quietly as possible and try and not get attention. Whilst I trust you can handle one of them, I know I'm worthless in a fight. On top of this, there is one thing that bugs me." Perhaps it was time for her to let it out? That would be the play in mind it appeared as she would dig her hands further into her pockets as she kicked her foot across the ground lazily. "My only claim to fame with the group right now is what we're doing now, planning and the mental aspect of it. One thing I don't like is, whilst a man carrying a chain is predictable, a man who carries a bow is predictable. A devil fruit however, can be anything..." Her voice would trail off, an obvious amount of fear in it as she like many from her waters, didn't fully understand the cursed fruit. "Above all else, I say we avoid Kali for the time being until we can figure out what he does."

Gin nodded in agreement at her statement, "Aye. A stealth mission sounds quite accurate." He murmured, rubbing his neck as he blinked a bit at her comment of hell freezing over- and flicked her forehead. "Don't ever do that." he said sternly, his face looking concerned as he looked her in the eye for a few moments. "Never question yourself. How do you expect to get stronger if you don't even try? If you don't think positively and keep going?" He murmured as he ruffled her hair with a grin, "I'll help you out- so you'll get strong, alright? It'll just take time we don't have right this moment. After the civilians are safe, we can actually do something with what's going on."

Raising a hand he rubbed his chin slowly with is fingertips as he considered their options- blinking a bit at the comment of the devil fruit user, he debated this quietly. "Mmn, this early on I doubt they have Haki. They're far to inexperienced. I grew up around Devil Fruit users ... If I had to guess it'd be a Zoan, but it could be a Paramecia and Logia, but the Zoan are the most common generally. We can predict its power to a degree, but as a whole you're right- we'll steer clear until we have more information." He eyed her once more- "As far as useless, what I said earlier. Enough said." he stated sternly before he patted her head.

With this done, he would move forward and head toward the exit of the compound. Moving along as he would glance at the main gate and wave for it to open, the guards rushing about and pulling the lever as it slowly rolled up. He glanced back at Haruka- "Make sure you have everything you'll need ... it's better if we don't take the men, the less noise the better." He commented with a frown, waiting patiently for her as he knelt down and leaned against the wall if she needed to get something, if she was already set to go- he would simply take the lead and move from the exit, heading toward the center of the island roughly.

"I don't know the pathways Haruka, so if you know of faster ways by all mean's take the lead ... this is your area of expertise, not mine." He commented idly as they moved along, his arms crossed over his chest as he yawned softly- moving toward the center of the island slowly- where the largest of the temples were. They needed to locate those tunnels if they had any hope of getting where they needed to be, to save the civilians that were being forced into such disgusting rituals he could only imagine. Human's were a disgusting and amazing species, they could create and manifest such incredible wills of light- and then there were some that would be better off as rodents than homo sapiens.

The moment that Gin's finger would smack her forehead, Haruka's mouth would drop a bit. Forming a shape which signified that it stung a bit before the actual verbal cue came. "Ow." She would do in a, as she would hate to admit, cute fashion. Her voice weak as she rubbed the spot a bit. Gin no doubt hadn't intended this, but it caught her off guard a bit. Of course as he would scold her with those words about "Never doing that" she couldn't help but retort. "That's what I should be telling you." She would let out with a sigh, continuing to lightly rub her forehead. The man would explain to her his reasoning, not wanting her to give up, or think it to be impossible, think positive. All of it just seemed to get a reaction out of her in perhaps a bad way. Her facial expression wouldn't be the happiest it had been as she would feel those words hammering in on her. She could only stare on, a bit wounded as he ruffled her hair.

"It's not a matter of giving up, Gin. I'm not someone who does that easily, but I can't ignore the facts either. One day I can become strong like yourself, but as you already said, not in the time frame allotted to us." She would say with a certain seriousness, it clear that she was quite passionate about it. It seeming somewhat odd from the quirky woman whom seemed to be more of a laid back person. Though when it came to her physical prowess, she was certainly more prideful. Of course the fresh sting of that loss did not help matters, and from a weak member of the Pirate crew at that. "I promise you, I will give you what I got when we get the chance in training." She would say with a nod, seeming to punctuate this topic.

The man would continue to speak, regarding what she had said, really at this point, all she could do was nod her head a bit. It wasn't that she didn't want to say anything, it was that Gin was just saying things she didn't know by this point. Logia, Paramecia, Zoan, the confusion sat quite comfortably upon her features as she had yet to hear these words ever. She knew that people ate devil fruits, and they would be granted abilities, but not much more than that. It was uncommon to run into a Devil Fruit user in the blues, so her experience is limited. All that she knows it to be wary of them. One would be wise to not even get her started on Haki users, it a whole other ball game of unknown for her. She was so dedicated to this confusion that she would simply let him get away with bringing up her own words against her.

All she could think was that she was happy that this part of the conversation was over, and that he did agree with her to a point. Still, as it would come time to leave, Haruka would do a bit of preparations. Gin whom seemed ready to go, would be waiting for a good five minutes as Haruka would retrieve her pack. A map inside, as well as a few other things, most notably her weapon hanging off the side of it. Hanging it over her shoulder. Not long out, this man would offer her to take the reigns in leadership, she of course being as she called herself, designated map reader.

Still, even as she would glance over it, she could only frown as she shook her head. "There isn't any tricks this time, as long as I'm to take what that woman said. We're heading to the church belonging to the "pay respects to the dead, or make you dead" Priests, which is a straight shot North." She would offer, even pointing a finger in the direction they were already going to show they were on the right path. "I just wish I knew a better way into those tunnels without having to crawl though that church..." She would mutter to herself, practically whining at this point.

Ginjo seemed satisfied with her answer of attempting to get stronger in training later. Glancing toward her as he noticed how confused she looked he frowned, "I guess I should break that down for you ... it's key knowledge if you're going to be here in the Grand Line." He pondered, blinking before shrugging a bit. "Alright, once we get going I'll explain." He nodded a bit, walking along once they had left the actual town he eyed her- nodding a bit in agreement at the idea of wanting to go through without entering the church. "Indeed ... I know the feeling. Hopefully we can just sneak in through a window or something, I don't want to deal with them ... their a bit coo coo. As an understatement."

He muttered the last bit under his breath as he walked along, before glancing toward her as he slid his hands into his pockets. "Well I did promise, and we need to pass the time. So I guess I'll explain. The devil fruits come in three separate tiers- Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan. Those are the base three, generally Paramecia are weakest but most versatile, Zoan are ways to amplify your physical abilities and are generally all good, but not great, and Logia are extremely powerful and difficult to master fruits." As he walked he would rest his hands in his pockets and keep careful eye out just encase they were followed- but they were still to far away from the church to really be in any sort of danger.

"Paramecia turn you into a superhuman of some sort, my dad is a rubber man- he stretches and his body works like its organic rubber. There are others that let you do stuff like slow time temporarily, cut anything you want, make yourself into blades ... all kinds of stuff." He glanced at the sky as he continued, his voice calm and descriptive- leaving pauses in order for her to ask questions whenever (if ever) she had any. "Zoan are simple on their own, they kinda give you two forms- your normal form and an animal form of a specific animal type. As you get better at the fruit you can mix and match the amount of how much animal and human you are. They amplify physical abilities, give enhanced senses, natural weapons, and so forth."

He grinned slowly, "Tecumseh was dad's friend, and he turned into a Panther-Man, for example." Nodding a bit he then blinked some, "Zoan have special classes- Ancient and Mythical, let you turn into extinct or mythological animals instead." With that out of the way he continued on, "Logia let you turn into a specific element ... their the strongest to many, you need special things to land a hit on them. Their elemental weakness, Haki, or Seastone. Thats all that does it far as I know." Rubbing the back of his head he frowned, "They're some of the rarest and most sheer destructive. Throwing fireballs, volcanic eruptions, all kinds of crazy stuff."

Gin shook his head a bit, their walking having continued along fairly easily with his constant talking- but hell if it helped pass the time it was pretty easy. He glanced at her after he had finished, "That's the basics. Any questions ... on anything in general, not just the fruits?" He pondered this, as they had yet to really talk beyond business. They were on a walk essentially and they were crew-mates, learning a bit about one another would likely do them both a fair amount of good in the end. While he waited for her response he would patiently watch the sky, enjoying the fluffy clouds as they passed along- as well as the soft grass underfoot that made it so easy to walk.
"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."

Haru could only sigh a bit as Gin would agree regarding the church, neither of them wanting to touch foot inside of it. Fortunately they did have quite the hike ahead of them, and it would be in her favor that they had a discussion to go over regarding the fruits. Gin clearly having picked up on her confusion and he would not be one to deny obliging her in the way of explaining. He would go over Paramecia's first after giving a run down of the "power levels" if you will. Haruka keeping a close eye on her surroundings as she idly listened. It was rather interesting to her, although she didn't do much but give a series of "ooh's" and "ah's" as a response to what he said. Though his example using his Father did catch her attention. "Ah yeah, the infamous Pirate. That's an interesting power her got there." She would idly comment, seeming to just move on after, but she would hinge for a moment.

This would allow him to tell her about Zoan's which overall didn't interest her. The idea of amping her physical capabilities was a nice thought. Though as a being whom lived their life by what the island refers to as their "beast". It would explain many of her brethren and their primal nature, they having long since connected with their beast. To go back to that would do away with everything she had been given in her new life. She wouldn't comment, she would only shoot him a slight look as he would mention one of his Father's friends whom had such an ability. A contemplative look on her face as she did so. Though it wouldn't be long before she simply turned back around in her march forward.

Logia's would be next and these would perk her interest the most. Much like everyone else she would muse over. With Gin's description, both in what they did and just the rarity they were painted as the biggest prize available. Something she couldn't help but chuckle at with her thoughts. "Is there anyway to tell what type, or even what fruit your eating, or is it complete chance?" She couldn't help but ask. She had never seen a devil fruit, not heard much beyond the stories. Since it was the discussion, she figured why not ask "dumb questions". Though she couldn't help but think of what terrible or amazing luck some people had, as even if there were a way to know, not many would she bet.

The information was useful for sure, and this man would go as far to ask if she had any questions. Though he would drop in an option of anything beyond what they just discussed. The lingering thoughts since this discussion would reenter her mind, and this did seem like as good as time as any to ask since she was being invited. "Just a curious few, such as what was your Dad's crew like?" She would ask in a distant voice. "What kind of Captain was he?" She would add in response to however he replied to the first. These questions, merely her way of trying to gauge what she could expect from Gin aside what she saw already.

That would of course be assuming the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. "You said he had a devil fruit, and one of his friends did as well. Did anyone else have one?" She retained that somewhat distant voice as she was clearly just not very good at small talk, or so it appeared. Is there anything you want to ask me, Captain?" She would ask suddenly, she at at least showing they were on the same page. It wasn't so hard to tell the man's intentions on asking for questions and then to add the fact it didn't have to be over what they were just talking about. Like he offered her, she would return the favor as she silently continued their walk, waiting to see if he had anything.

He chuckled a bit, "Dad would disagree. He isn't really a fan of his power- but he's made good use of it with his creativity." He commented idly as he glanced around curiously, blinking a bit at her comment- and shook his head. "Not that I'm aware. Maybe the government has a way to- but even then I doubt they have a way for every single one, there are millions of them if you include the diversity of the zoan fruits." He stated with a shrug as he took out his canteen, sipping from it as they walked- hands sliding into his pockets as he arched his brow a bit at her question regarding his fathers crew and chuckled a bit with a shrug.

"Indeed. Most of them held Devil Fruit powers actually. Let's see here." He raised a hand, and raised a finger for each one that he described to her. "Tsukai Xoi- my Father, the captain- ate the Rubber fruit. Ira Travis, now Xoi- my Mother, the first mate- ate the T-Rex Ancient Zoan. Atlas Maulden- the crews navigator, ate the Cardinal Zoan. Tecumseh Modari- my fathers brother and the crew assassin, ate the Panther Zoan. Kira- she ate a fruit that let her change her size at will. The other three members were Hana Marashi, a Cyborg. As well as Mizu- a Doctor and Haki Specialist, and Bengal Tiderunner, a great white shark fishman." He lowered the six fingers as he moved along, hands in his pockets as he smiled a bit at the memories.

"Ah, I actually have a picture of 'em all ..." He took out the picture and offered it to the woman, Tsukai- whom looked like his son but much larger, darker and bulkier in build had a huge grin on his face- little Gin hanging from his over-stretched lip. Dark brown hair atop his head, Ira a pale blonde was leaning on his shoulder looking very coldly and unamused at the camera, Atlas was smiling standing behind them all- towering over them so much he had to lean down a bit to fit- his feathered ears fluttering lightly. Bengal stood next to Tsukai an arm around his shoulder with a similar grin- but sharky. Tecumseh was making bunny ears over Kira and Ira's heads- being between the pair- the dark skinned shorter man smirking to himself. Kira had Mizu wrapped in her arm, flipping off the camera- Mizu just holding a hand over half her face at her little "Family". Hana seemed missing- till you saw she was swinging from the mast above the groups heads.

His grin only seemed to widen a bit, "They're my family, even if they've gone their separate ways after retiring. They still keep in touch, I'd love to meet them all one day." He chuckled some as he would slide his hand down, taking the picture back whenever she would finish with it as he let his eyes trail toward the walkway. At her other questions he rubbed his face, "My dad was an idiot. Charismatic and wise, but he lacked common sense and self control. He was nearly illiterate and couldn't write worth a damn, or read to well. But he could fight like a machine, and was a genius when it came to art and designing boats and buildings."

He smiled slowly, "I think if he hadn't had such a horrible first seventeen years of life he would have been one of the greatest Carpenters in existence honestly. Instead he got the shorter end of the stick- but he's happy and content so I guess it works. Everyone knew that even though he was an idiot, he never let his judgement slip on anything- they trusted him and my mom that between them they would always keep them safe. They always did." He grinned some, "If I end up half the natural leader my dad is, I'll be happy to be honest." He nodded some- before glancing back at her and pondering her question.

"... What was life like, back on your home island?"
"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."

Ginjo would do well in answering her questions, one after another. The topic was one to draw her attention for a bit. Though she would frown a bit at the idea that Devil Fruits were a little bit of chance. She wasn't a gambling type, so the appeal for one was greatly lessened for her. Still she would listen intently as she continued to walk, her hands doing the same as this man, being shoved deep into her pockets as she kept her head down. He would list off the people in the crew who had devil fruits, and the number was quite staggering. After all, it was rare for the top dog in a crew from where she came from to have a power, much less the second in command, the cook, this person that person. He would even have a picture with him which she would take with great care to look over.

She couldn't help but find a smile creeping across her face as a small giggle would escape her. It brought a bit of a warm feeling into her heart to see them all so happy, well most of them anyways. Some seemed to be perpetually grouchy, some quite vulgar and others mischievous. She would briefly look up to take note that Gin would mention them as family, and having not met them all yet. A slightly depressing thought as she would be quick to think about the photo, and just how many years had passed. Looking to Ginjo, he was the next generation from this crew, it was a humbling thought at that. "It looks like a great family to have." Haruka would warmly state as she handed the photo back, a certain level of sincerity grappling with envy. Whether he would catch on to that or not, it wouldn't matter as she would inadvertently shed light on her reaction as he asked about her home island.

A question which would take the woman back to the dead strip of land which was her birth place. With a sigh, she couldn't help but think back with bad memories. "Well, there was never any daylight, that's for sure." She would half joke as she would remind him of something she had said many days ago when they had first met. This being one of the few good things she remembered. "My people are a very....primal lot. Something I've seen before with a band of hunters. We live by the blood we shed, the prize of the hunt I suppose. Perhaps it's why we are called by those nicknames." Her explanation was both direct and solemn as she spoke, showing a certain disdain for her old life. "I would be fortunate though, during a hunt, I was quite young as was the group i was in. They wouldn't survive the beast that found us, and I awoke on a Marine ship under the care of a Marine Medic, Thalia." A certain warmness would return to her as she thought back to this.

Perhaps the memory of this woman, much like that of a Mother in her eyes. "She taught me everything I know know, she gave me a chance to be something more than a blood driven warrior." Almost to her point her mind would return to the woman whom she shown both mercy and forgiveness with. It was a thought that brought a laugh from her as she couldn't help, wonder what her people would think of her now. "I'm willing to bet, they would just kill me on the spot for being a weakling in their eyes." She would continue to half laugh as she just shook her head. It was a painful thought, but she knew she would never return to that island, ever. "Compassion is the Achilles heel of a hunter...." She would just grumble to herself as her mind continued to wander.

He grinned a bit and nodded, "Aye. They are the best family I could have asked for ... Mom taught me about technology and smithing, dad about carpentry. Both of them taught me how to fight ... Dad more so than mom, he didn't like that I used a weapon but since others in the crew did he let me anyway." His grin seemed to grow slowly as the memories returned, "I remember when mom gave me my first blade, dad told me to balance it and when I tried I almost cut him. Instead of fussing at me he corrected my stance and helped me get used to it." He murmured, eyes softening a bit as he sighed and shook his head- he had to admit he missed them. Having not seen them for nearly three years now, even if he was fine- he could still miss them.

As she answered him he remained quiet, listening as she talked- reading her body language and expressions as he frowned a bit at what she said about her people. "You're lucky then ... I was never in that circumstance, but I know that if you didn't get saved you would have ended up less than human. Dad used to be alot like that." He frowned and rubbed the back of his neck, glancing up as he heard the words that compassion was a Achilles heel and he grinned slowly. "Compassion isn't weakness, it's stupidity. Still ... it's something I'm alright with being called if my hands are stained with as little blood as possible."

He nodded some, looking up to the sky as he frowned- "Dad used to tell me he could never truly rested ... he sometimes would glance down and just see the blood coating his arms and body, no matter how hard he washed it still felt filthy." He murmured, eyes softening a bit as he looked down at his own hands. "I remember waking up some nights and just seeing him scrubbing his hands raw, tears but no cries because of the pain and regret he felt for what they forced him to do just to survive." Slowly is fist clenched as his eyes hardened slowly. "Compassion is stupidity, but it's also strength ... it can grant you future allies, it keeps your mind clear, and it gives you something ... someone, to protect and get strong for."

His lips slowly curled once more into a smile, "So when those hunters try and kill you for being better than them- we'll have to make sure that you're strong enough to hand all of them their asses on a platter." He chuckled a bit as they neared the temple, it now rising in the distance- finally visible as he frowned a bit. "If you survive here for longer than a few months, and I'll ensure you do ... you'll get strong very quickly. This place has a way of hardening you fast, I learned that growing up here." He commented a bit before sighing and unlocking the blade at his side as he narrowed his eyes on the temple, "Ready?" He asked curiously- glancing back at her with an arched brow.
"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."

As the man would mull over her answer to his question, she couldn't help but feel a bit of annoyance at the way he worded it. To call her out on her weakness with Compassion, or rather not calling it a weakness but stupidity. She couldn't help but frown as her eyes hardened, though they would lighten a bit as he spoke a bit more positively. Her frown would never get a chance to leave her face however as he touched up on his Father's less than grand nights. It was something she could relate too, and though she never had that much of a problem. She still felt as if she were fighting the Beast everyday she woke up. The desire to frenzy and spill as much blood as possible. It only being seen upon her waking as the sun seemed to just bring it out in her more. This perhaps explaining her mood changes from early morning to nightfall.

"I tried that, and you refused to trust them." She would lightly joke with the man in regards to their prisoner. The woman whom Haru had shown a bit of compassion and forgiveness. To the point she was even willing to give her a second chance to show she could right her wrongs. Though partially serious, the slight grin that formed on Haruka's lips did in fact suggest that light hearted nature, she merely using it to Gin's expense. This of course a response to him saying that the act of their discussion, compassion could grant allies. Still, she wouldn't hinge on it long, taking to something that could be referred to a more serious. He mentioning the Hunters of her tribe and making sure she would survive such an encounter. It made her smile a bit inside, a warm feeling entering the pit of her stomach. This was, besides the time spent with Thalia, the first time she had ever felt like she was wanted.

Oh sure, she was desired wen it came to her standing int he Blues, as much as one wants someone capable to take the bullet for them. She was after all a Marine, and it was a part of the job. All the looks, the distrust from her fellow comrades, save a choice few. She always felt like an outcast, and it was somewhat refreshing for her to be seen as something else. "Looking to be more like your Father than you expect, Captain?" She would suggest as she too eyed the approaching building. A smile spread wide across her face as she allowed the thought to enter her mind. "I've never been apart of a family before, I wonder what it feels like to be loved..." She would continue in her current content tone. Though her words as she hung onto them, felt a bit grimmer in what hey suggested, more so than she realized.

Taking her place beside him, she would reach around the side of her pack, grabbing her weapon from it. Slowly sliding her arm through the straps which she would tighten around her arm, enuring that it was stable after a few quick tests. She would also take a moment to take the canteen from the side of her pack and take a long swig of water to ensure she was good to go. Though she had led the way, Gin would be taking over from this point on, and he would make it clear by asking if she was ready. "About as much as I can be to be walking into a crazy priest Church. Just remember, slow and steady, no noise." It of course went without saying, but the uneasiness she felt would make her remind him out of caution. In the end however, she would at least feel a need to trust him, after all, if this was a start to a family, she would have to start trusting anyways...

He smiled a bit at her commenting how he didn't trust them and tapped his head, "That's the difference between me and dad. I'm not as charismatic or strong- but I'm alot smarter. Compassion was letting her live and getting her medical attention. Going to far would be your suggestion- to me. There is to large a risk, no one changes loyalties that fast- not reliably." He nudged her to show he knew she was kidding around as he chuckled and let his eyes rest on the temple, his face darkening a bit with a frown. His face changed at her words though as he glanced at her and he slowly grinned, "I guess you'll find out as we travel. I'm sure we'll gather more friends as time passes." He nodded some before he sighed and let go of the nice thoughts- he needed to focus now.

Gin nodded in agreement at her comment of them needing to be careful and slow, "We'll stick to the shadows and maneuver as we can." With this the boy lowered down into the shadows of bushes and dashed forward as he moved along through the darkness as the sun flickered around them through the bush. It wouldn't take them to much longer to hit the area they needed to be, the 'red zone' around the temple where they could actually be noticed by the wandering priests. It was a dark place, the massive stone walls of dark greys and blacks covering the area, a few sparse priests within the walls trailing toward the only light that seemed to get past the walls into the main building. The soft sound of chants filling the air in a low, timeless drone.

Posted Image
Ginjo slowly let his cool eyes travel over the walls, before he leap up and grabbed the stone carefully- glancing down at her and giving the silent raise of a hand for her to "wait here quietly" as he then rapidly scaled the side of the castle- leaping up at the two story mark as he landed atop the wall quietly. Looking around slowly as he frowned- there wasn't much around, it was fairly quiet beyond the droning of the priests- hundreds of tombstones littered the inner grounds as they swayed and chanted. Then he heard it- the scream of a young child within the depths of the church, the chanting didn't even falter as the screams were arubtly halted. He ground his teeth- the one to die tonight may have been alive after all.

He grit his teeth and reached down by his belt, tugging out some simple rope from the pack there as he let it down to her, wrapping it around his arm- and then the stone, bracing for her to then start climbing up. He knew she didn't have the agility to scale it as he had, so this was fine. Gin made sure to get her scaling up the wall, once she got up he would wrap the rope up and tuck it away once more as he eyed the surrounding grounds and motioned toward the less-active and darker area's of the grounds. Moving quickly and quietly toward the nearest turret where the stair's were located to head down into them. They needed to be quiet and fast if they were going to get in and down toward where the sound of the young woman's scream had been heard.

"I have the nerve to try and smile, ain't been happy for a while."
