He glanced along the beach- "Cactus Island" it was a weird name for such a place. Tetzou and his crew had dropped the dark skinned boy off on the island a few hours before, giving him his instructions for the dummy and leaving- it was not to unusual but the fact the ship as well had left made him a bit wary. After he had sent Ginjo to this place they had been ordered to work their way down the line, Tetzou had promised he would be waiting halfway down the line for them, but he had to ponder if that was true. He had come by, given him his instructions for training- and left him, saying he had to grow on his own from here on- he wasn't sure if that meant Tetzou wasn't coming back, or if he simply wouldn't be training him much anymore. Ether way he had plenty of training to do before he would be satisfied, he would wait for Tetzou for a few more hours- who knew how it would end up. The blue eyes, dark skinned, blonde hair oddball rubbed his shirtless body down as he considered the reasoning for his teachers actions- he wore only a pair of loose-fitting slacks, completely barefoot, shirtless and without any gloves or other protective gear. Tetzou was to old fashioned and hardcore for something like that after all, he rubbed the sweat off himself as he pushed his hair back a bit and muttered a bit, glancing at the pile of his accessories off by the rocks- including his elegant blade, his shirt, and the classical "Justice" overcoat all marines of ensign rank or higher wore. He slowly set his hands into his pockets as he sighed and looked toward the waters as his eyes softened a bit, it had been a very long morning and there was still an entire day of training to be had. Still, with his basic warmup down he took another swig of the water, a simple sigh passing his lips- with Tetzou still nowhere in sight he supposed he needed to do something while he waited or Tetzou would throw a fit when he did get back. With this in mind he sighed and sank down into a squat before placing his hands down and shifting into a basic push-up stance, beginning he started to pump them out at a fairly normal speed, going for amount and not speed. He had heard the other men talking about how Tetzou's daughter had been on the ship today, and he had to admit he was curious to see her, pondering if she was with her father here on the island elsewhere- but before all else came his training. There was no way he could hold up his dream if he put things before getting strong, he wanted to go see her out of curiosity- but he also was very much aware that he needed to focus on himself. Having no idea that the very girl he was thinking about, had been dropped off by Tetzou as well- his gift to her being someone her age she could get along with, train with, and be safe with. This and he was tired of dealing with her constant energy, he knew she needed something more than the blues now- and the adventure she and Gin would go on was something that he was certain would work well. Ginjo had no idea yet of course, but as he slid down to sit on the towel- making sure not to overheat his body, he drank from his water and simply began to bide his time for his heartrate to slow and his bodyheat to lower. He didn't realize that he was being watched, and soon to be approached by the very girl he had met sparsely through his time training with Tetzou but never really gotten to know. It would be an interesting few days. Edit Reasons

Dahlia was bored. The partial fishman sighed a little as she tipped her head back, staring into the sky as her feet pressed against the solid earth beneath them. She hated being inland, it made her feel so far from her comfort zone that she had trouble finding amusement that did not involve terrorizing civilians (while she was not sure she was above such things, she was positive that her father would have a seacow if he found out). Scratching lightly at her cheek, she lowered her head to stare listlessly towards the marine that was talking at her. Not to her, at her. It was annoying, certainly, but the words seemed to go in one ear and out the other as she yawned and rolled her shoulders a little. The man was trying to tell her not to draw too much attention to herself, but that was easier said than done when you had such a unique smile. "Yeah, yeah, I got it." Dahlia waved a hand dismissively, turning on her heels and shoving her hands into her pockets with a huff. "Pull the rock out of your ass, pretty sure it's a diamond by now." She muttered, giving a bit of a smirk as she heard the man, the caretaker of the ship she had earlier been riding, throw his hat at the ground in frustration. It provided a mild amount of amusement for her, just enough to get her whistling a bit of a tune as she made her way towards the beach. As the ocean came into view she allowed the song to die as she spotted someone sitting on a towel on the beach. Sure, it was not a remarkably rare sight, but the man's dark skin and blonde hair sparked a memory from her childhood - her earliest memory, in fact. Raising a hand to stroke her chin, she finally recalled that he father had mentioned a familiar face training on the island, and if the butchered training dummies were any indication, she had to assume this was indeed the dark skinned, pale haired young man that she recalled. Tilting her head a little, she watched him a few long moments, her strange eyes narrowing to mere slits as she formed a bit of a devious idea. Her smirk grew a little wider, several of her pointed teeth becoming visible as she headed quietly across the sands, approaching the young man from behind with the hope that he would not turn around before she could get to him. Once she was close, she would fold her hands behind her back, lacing her fingers together. "On your feet! Eyes forward, marine! There will be no slacking on my beach!" She barked, hoping to scare the living daylights out of him. "Now drop and give me fifty before I decide to make you swim to the Blues and back!" |

As he continued his situps from his crouched position after his relaxation, he continued his steady breathing as he blinked- his ear twitched curiously, someone was trying to sneak around him. Slowly he grinned but it immediately disappeared as he continued his situps calmly, breathing in as he released, and out as he lifted his weight. From the movements he could tell- it certainly wasn't someone intending to do him harm and as such he didn't mind, they weren't coming in with the right weight to their steps to aim a strike and as such he just kept on with his business. He blinked however- as suddenly she yelled and the options went through his head rapidly, he immediately snapped to attention so fast it was rather startling for a normal person, immediately slamming his heels together- saluting and standing strait as an arrow despite having just a moment ago been on the ground. His tone was calm and collected, his eyes meeting her own calmly- she was cute as he remembered. He noticed the stripes immediately, and memories went flying back into the history of watching their parents, titans, fight it out as he resisted a grin. He had two choices, he could just completely throw it all off- but where was the fun in that? Or he could play along and have some fun as well! As such, he grinned as he decided to play her game, and possibly out-do her as he ketp a completely blank and stern face and barked out calm and collected as he kept eye contact easily. "Lieutenant Commander, Xoi Daniel Ginjō', Ma'am! Currently here with permission of Captain Shibaru, Ma'am!" He stated with such calm firm words that it sounded exactly as if he were speaking to a true superior. But Ginjō' knew exactly who she was and what her rankings was- it was no secret. Both of them were the youngest of their rankings and far beyond what normal individuals their age would be- it was hardly a shock to know who his Teacher's daughter was and what her general information was. But his memory had proved him right, looking into her eyes he had to fight now to smile as he remembered the tears that had streamed down them begging for his father to stop beating on her own. He kept his hard marine act up for a bit before he finally broke out in a big grin as he he relaxed and offered a hand, winking at her as his hand slid into his pocket and his free one was offered to her, unlike his father his hand was not covered in scaring- but there were certainly covered in calluses from his hard work and training, it was just part of how he had worked- his whole body was covered in them really. His smile only grew- that same big ass goofy grin that Tsukai had whenever he was pleased with himself, "Nice to finally meet you formally ... again." He stated simply as- if she would take his hand, he would lean down and kiss her fingers lightly as one would a princess in olden times- his grin slid into a smirk as his bright blue eyes looked into her own deep green ones, "You got really pretty." He commented lightly with a grin as he would release her hand lightly and put his hand into his pocket, grinning like the devil to himself. It had been a very long time since they had last met- and he was fairly sure this was the last place she had expected to meet him- hell, this was the last place anyone in the marines expected to see the son of the retired pirate Tsukai. He grinned again and let out a bit of a laugh as he tilted his head some, "What brings you out here beautiful ...?" It seemed when it came to women, he very much had some of his fathers characteristics- of course he didn't know that, because none of the girls here really interested him, all to bland and boring ... but she wasn't, she was different. She had always been different since he first saw her so long ago, he had to admit that she definitely had alot more things to notice now though- curves and a beautiful face definitely being some of those things ... but her eyes and smile, were definitely the winners. He grinned a bit at that thought, he loved her eyes and he still remembered his first reaction to seeing them- Your eyes are awesome! ... What had he been thinking? Ah well. It worked out. |

Dahlia arched a brow as the man seemed to ruin her fun by looking at her - apparently feeling the need to stare into her eyes and introduce himself in spite of the fact that he knew her and she was likely well aware of why he was on the beach. Surely he could have guessed that her father has taken her there and that he had clued her in at least a little? Well, perhaps not. As she recalled his father was something of an idiot, maybe he passed the 'stupid' gene on to his son? His stern exterior would soon melt into a grin, causing her to huff a bit. "Eyes forwards means keep looking forwards, not at me, dumb ass." She pointed out, resisting the urge to give him a whack, she would simply accept that he had failed and would proceed to shake his hand - her grip strong, unwavering, not unlike a shark with prey locked in it's jaw. He would kiss her hand and she would make a face that resembled one of disgust - which became increasingly obvious as she wiped the back of her hand onto her pants once he had released it. A strange feeling washed over her as she did this, prompting her to scan the beach for anyone that might overhear their conversation. While she could not see anyone there was definitely something sending a chill down her spine and it was not the cool ocean breeze. Resisting the urge to shudder, she would push her hands into the pockets of her pants, ignoring the fact that she felt as though someone was staring at her with a very intent blood lust. She was sort of used to it, given her demonic, monster like appearance, but it seemed a bit random now that she was standing on a nigh deserted beach. Snorting, she dismissed the feeling - unaware that some perverted, man deprived female marines (and a rather effeminate male), were watching them from a distance upon their ship. "I was always pretty, you just became older and hor-" She paused, looking along the beach, particularly at the water, out of a fear that her father was lurking along somewhere. "Well, you get it." Dahlia laughed a bit of a malicious sounding laugh, her strangely colored eyes settling on him for a few long moments, her eyes would widen a little when an abrupt realization would hit her now that he was standing in front of her. "Damn, Banjo, you really sprouted in the last couple of years," Dahlia commented, forming a fist and giving him a light tap in the stomach. "But you're still scrawny as a scarecrow. Guess I can call you 'scarecrow' instead of runt now, eh?" She snickered a little to herself, seeming as mischievous as she always had been, perhaps even a little more so not that she was older and 'wiser'. "Banjo the scarecrow. Maybe just Scarecrow, hmn?" She mused aloud, pondering what she preferred to call him. Somehow the name 'Scarecrow' just seemed a bit to cool for Gin... |

Ginjo rubbed the back of his head, keeping his right hand in his pockets, the boy was resembling his father a bit more than when they had last met ... his dark skin was whittled in scar's from whips along his back, and had what appeared to be hot iron burns on his stomach- signs of torture, and alot of it. Still he kept the right hand in his pocket as his left rubbed his head with a big grin. "I can't not look at you, it's been three years! Not my fault your stunning." He smirked a bit before he noted the difference in her grip, good ... she had gotten stronger, more assured. He eyed her as she seemed to shudder and he reached out, searching for anything off- and slowly frowned. He couldn't see or hear anything. Shrugging he smiled as he reached down with his left hand, scooping his shirt up and sliding it over his muscular body, laughing at her calling him older and hornier. "Maybe you brought that out then, neh?" He teased, winking with a chuckle as he took his other hand out of his pocket to slide the shirt on, revealing the lack of fingernails and severe scaring along his fingers from what is essentially one of the worst tortures imaginable. Sliding his hand from the shirt as he scooped his blade up and slid it's sheath to his belt, getting ready as he eyed her and rose up, he blinked as he stood up strait and his height caught her attention. A brow arched and his lips curled a bit at her realization he was taller than her now, still lanky but muscular now as well unlike before. Feeling her tap his abdominal area he blinked and tried not to laugh, but burst out laughing anyway at her calling him a scarecrow. "Or you could just say Banjo, even that isn't my name." He grinned a bit and poked her forehead in-kind as she had his stomach. "Maybe I should call you mouse, being small and cute?" He teased, before he blinked as he heard the shift in the large sails of a marine ship, the snap of the winds catching them. Glancing back, a massive marine ship was slowly heading toward them as he arched a brow a bit and rubbed the back of his neck once more. "What the hell ... I thought I was gonna' be here alone. Let alone you ... and another division?" He pondered aloud as he squinted his eyes a bit on the marine ship that was slowly coming in, tilting his head a bit in confusion. What the hell was going on? Glancing toward her he jerked a thumb at the ship, which held multiple marines running about its docks doing normal preparation for making dock. "You have any idea?" He asked with a blinked, "Tetzou just kinda' left me here and said to train and make my way down the Grand Line. He didn't really give me much to go on." He mumbled as he coughed into his hand and glanced toward the ship once more in confusion, it was odd- even for him so send another ship in after them. He could put together he wanted Dahlia and him to stick together- and he was very ok with that. But he didn't get these extra's that were coming in. Was this gonna be their new ship and crew? What the hell was going on? |

The sun barreling down upon all those aboard the ship which was pulling into position alongside the beach's docks. The waves crashing against it in rhythmic fashion. Many of the crewmen could be seen shuffling from side to side atop the upper deck, preparing to make port as per the orders given by their current and temporary Commanding Officer, as handed down as his charge. Standing in a position to overlook the front of the ship however stood an important link in the chain which kept this machine going. The one whom pointed the finger in a direction, guiding the ship through what no one else can, the Navigator. Perhaps a bit of an off beat young woman whom could be seen at the moment wearing her usual attire. With the exception that the hood of her jacket was pulled over her head, hanging loosely out in front of her face and casting a shadow across it, she unwilling to let the sun touch her pale skin if she could help it. "Akiyama!" An all too familiar gruff voice would shout out from behind her. She wouldn't even need to turn to look as she could just hear his foot steps thundering for her. An older man in his fifties whom hadn't accomplished much in his long life in the service. Always seeming to have a grudge against Haruka since she stepped foot on this vessel. She didn't seem to care much in the manner however as she often met his hostility with a smile, which only set him off more and made her laugh on the inside. It would only be a second before those steps would come to a halt just a mere inch behind her, she could just sense his eyes glaring into the back of her hood. "Just what in the hell do you think you are doing standing around?!" Inwardly she couldn't help but roll her eyes at this, though she wouldn't dare let him see such an action. Although her lack of tensing up, and her laid back nature that he seemed to hate so much, just seemed to have him becoming more and more livid by the second. "My job, sir. I am after all the Navigator of this crew...." Her respond would be flat, matter of fact even in all it's glory. It would take but a moment, but Haruka would soon remember something, as evidenced by the raising of her gloved right hand, only her index finger extended as it bounced in the air, practically in a tapping fashion. The gears in her brain turning. Almost at an instant she would swivel on her heels, finally turning to face this man. It would be clear by the look on his face he wasn't amused. Perhaps in part by the fact that the way she was dressed. Never in Marine attire as she wore her jacket, a black shirt and pants with her boots. As well as a pair of black gloves which covered her hands entirely. Not forgetting a black muffler which she wore loosely around the bottom part of her face, covering it from the sun that would try to sneak in from under the hood of her coat. It would be more likely however, that the angry scowl on his face was coming from the fact that she was only now raising a hand up to salute this man, as if she had forgotten. "YOU IMBECILE, YOU DO THAT BEFORE SPEAKING TO YOUR SUPERIORS!" From beneath the black material covering her mouth, a grin would form on her lips, she keeping her pose, unwavering even through his excessive shouting. It wouldn't be long before the ship would come to a halt at the dock, the sudden rocking of the boat as it did breaking up this little scene between them. Only causing this man to snort as he knew what this meant, his charge was over and he would be turning the reigns of the vessel over to the new Commanding Officer. Though there was something else he would be needing to do, if a little begrudgingly. "A-Akiyama, we're going a-ashore." He would begin, forcing a break in his words as he needed a rest to regain his composure. His words a bit shaky due to the frustration he felt, the dread for what he would do. "And pull that damn hood down! Just because you think you don't have to dress like a Marine, doesn't mean you don't have to act the part!" His voice, loud and annoying as ever as he would lead her toward the edge of the ship where they would set down upon the wooden dock, slowly but surely the two would go off the side and land with a thud down below. Only after she touched down would the man stop her once again. Steeping in close with a low voice. "Listen here, if you embarrass me in front of them, I will make sure to have you keelhauled as we leave this island." A threatening tone which would be punctuated as he ripped the hood of her jacket down off her head, revealing her to the sun. Something which would have put any of her people into a bit of a frenzy to feel the burning sensation of it on their delicate skin. Though through the heat she felt, a smile would be worn upon her face for as this man would turn around to begin walking. Out from behind her back would come an instrument to embarrass him indeed, a simple and yet all too familiar item to this man would be used to shield herself from the sun, an umbrella. Arching a brow, Ginjo watched as the ship slowly pulled in and he crossed his arms under his chest patiently. "Huh ... wonder what their here for." He mumbled curiously, before he glanced at Dahlia to see if she knew- though as the ship pulled in, his brow arched further as he slowly rubbed his chin and glanced at her with a grin. "Shall we?" He asked before moving forward- he was curious after all, to see just what the deal was- he doubted a marine crew had just shown up right where they were out of nowhere. Perhaps Tetzou had actually decided to give him a crew? He tilted his head some before moving forward and raising a hand in greeting, watching as the crew went about prepping the ship for leave before he slid his hands into his pockets with an arched brow. Two figures leap down, one was a large- older man that looked permanently grumpy, and the other was a young girl. His brow furrowed as the older man ripped her hood down, sucking his teeth in distaste as the man led forward- and Gin's lips curled a bit with a slightly laugh at the girl popping a umbrella instead. Tilting his head he watched the pair approach him and Dahlia. Once the man stopped, he saluted to the much younger pair. "Chief Warrant Officer, Gregory Malatoff. Reporting to see a young ... man." He stopped and stared, finally realizing just how 'young' Ginjo really was in comparison to him. Ginjo blinked up at the man a few times and arched a brow, "Lieutenant Commander, Xoi Daniel Ginjo. I assume you're lookin' for me?" The older man seemed very confused at the fact a Teenager had a higher rank than himself. Slowly he cleared his throat and gathered his senses, "A-ah. Yes, Mr. Xoi sir. I came here with orders from Captain Shibaru to give you and your new first ... mate." He looked toward Dahlia and seemed even more confused. "... A crew, as well as a young girl he deemed worthy of ... special attention." He muttered dryly, his eyes trailing toward the young woman that was following him, not looking to impressed despite how shocked he still was. That's when he found the Umbrella in her hands- and his eye twitched as he reached out to grab it. "What are you doi-" He was about to hiss, before Ginjo's own much smaller hand shot out and grabbed the older man's wrist, stopping the much larger man dead in his tracks effortlessly. "... Mr. Malatoff, was it? You have done your duty. They are now in my charge and my protection. I recommend you leave- and not lay a hand, on my crew." The last three words were punctuated in a very polite, but dark tone. An message hidden in plain sight- he didn't like the way the man was angry at everyone for his own choices and lack of ranking, position, and achievements in his life. It was his own fault ... and Ginjo wouldn't let him take it out on everyone else. The man took a slow breath and withdrew a hand- a dark bruise already forming on his wrist as he took a step back and gave a salute with a blank expression. Handing over the documents he had in his hand before turning and heading toward the main ship- his tone was cool, "The crew will await here. Tetzou said he would be sending down a actual ship in a few weeks while you adjusted here on the island. There are multiple corrupt temples, and even some locations where some revolutionaries and pirates are camped out on this island. He wanted you to clear them out- if you can, sir." He nearly sneared the word, and Ginjo arched a brow- but left it alone, figuring Dahlia would be more than willing to snipe back at the old man anyway. He instead watched the man leave as the crew of ten marines slid down the ship with some barrels of supplies, tents, and so forth. Ginjo sighed and glanced at Dahlia- and grinned a bit. "Seems we found out what your dad want's with us ... you up for it?" He asked curiously with a wide grin, eager to travel with her and spend time with her again. Once he and Dahlia had settled their own agreement he would glance to the documents and toss them into the air. "I don't need any information on any of you." he stated clearly, glancing to Akiyama in particular. "I'll get to know you all as we travel together. For now let's get some maps out ... who here has navigator skills?" He asked curiously- and all of the crew pointed fingers strait at Akiyama. He arched a brow and looked toward her, raising a hand- "Miss?" he asked simply as if to clarify they were correct, though it was pretty obvious. |

"Flattery wont get you anywhere, perv." The shark girl mumbled. After casting Gin many a dark (during which time she contemplated whether or not she could beat the flirt out of him), borderline disgusted look for his suggestions, Dahlia would huff a bit of a sigh and turn the brunt of her attention to the ocean, particularly the marine vessel that was looming closer and closer to the shore. She would allow herself to stray forwards a little, approaching the rolling waves that licked at the sandy shores. It always made her feel more comfortable to be close to the sea, even when uncertainty loomed on the horizon. "Hell if I know," she would utter to herself, her oddly colored eyes narrowing slowly, suspiciously as the ship would continue to approach the shore, seeming to more or less be aimed in their general direction. Tipping her head a little to one side she listened carefully, straining to try to hear the voice that was bellowing upon the ship, but it was a fruitless endeavor which she quickly grew bored of. Tapping a foot idly upon the sands she would start to cross the sandy slopes of the beach, heading towards the dock without responding to Gin as she believed the gesture to be an answer in itself. As she heard her boot touch down on the wood of the dock, two people emerged from the ship, hopping over the railing and onto the dock. Dahlia would cease her advance at this point, slouching a little where she stood as she waited for the man to speak his part - after all, he seemed to be on a mission, if the sour look on his face was anything to go by. The man would start to prattle on and Dahlia quickly grew bored, deciding to flop herself down to sit on the dock, her feet hanging over the edge as she kicked them idly just above the water with a bit of a yawn. Examining her fingers for a moment, she would proceed to pick her teeth, practically gnawing upon her hand. The female appeared to be off in her own little world at this point, but she was still paying attention to the conversation in her own idle way. Well, parts of it, at least. "Neh, neh, what a dirty little thing to pull, old man," she murmured to herself, likely referring to her father. Her feet skimmed the surface of the water, splashing it around a little as she softly licked her lips. "Well. I guess I'll play your game. I don't have much better to do since you stranded me here..." She would pop her knuckles one by one, smiling to herself with her sharp teeth glinting a bit in the light. "I guess I don't mind cracking a few skulls as long as I don't have to put them back together after..." Her expression remained as she quickly hoisted herself to her feet and trailed back toward the small group, leaving a trail of wet foot prints as she went. "It could be worse, I guess. I could be a bitter old man that's outranked by people half his age." She grinned a bit of a malicious looking grin. "I'm going to do what I want, and if it happens to wipe out some pirates or whatever then good for me, I guess?" Dahlia shrugged a bit, hands resting on her hips as her fingers began to drum against her clothes. "Can't believe I'm second fiddle to a guy named Banjo," she sighed, slowly looking to the girl that was supposedly special in some regard (and yet she had never heard of, so she couldn't have been that special). "Ey, snow white, what do they call you?" She asked, noticing a stack of papers flying through the air Dahlia would whack Gin in the upper arm using the back of her hand. "Oi! You're supposed to be setting an example for your... crew or whatever you want to call these sorry souls that have been thrown to your mercy..." She pointed to the papers, as though telling him to pick them up. "Don't litter near the ocean, that's where I swim and take naps to avoid my duties. I don't want to wake up covered in your garbage. That'd just be unladylike." |

The light breeze that this day produced felt rather refreshing to the senses of this young woman. It was after all uncommon for her to experience such a thing as she wore her hood up in the day time due to her....delicate skin situation. As such she would feel the slight shift in her hair as it blew and her ponytail swaying along with it. Under the shadow of this umbrella, she would simply move forward the short distance that her temp superior lead her, as the duo they were to meet simply closed the distance for them. She would naturally not mind this, it was after all less work for her, and a quiet yawn would signify she couldn't be bothered otherwise. She knew it was coming, it wouldn't be a surprise either the reaction. As they drew near, she taking a careful note of the two, a young man and a woman. The woman standing out to her more due to the more than obvious fish like traits, similar to a shark in her case. It would strike her a bit interesting to see someone of the Fishman race amongst them, uncommon as it was due majority views on humans. The young man was a close second however with the dark skin and light hair, but most notably his age which would be the reaction she saw coming. Ginjo as he would introduce himself after Malatoff would bumble his words in the shock of seeing the young man as who he was passing the touch to as it were. She almost couldn't help but let a small chuckle out, unable to get her hand up to her mouth to stifle the entirety of it in time. Fortunately he wouldn't seem to notice it, but what he would notice would be after his introduction of this woman to them would be something she had nearly forgotten about with the new happenings. The man would react poorly as she assumed he would, attempting to reach for the umbrella in her grasp. She would of course take a defensive stance back, her grip tightening on it in the process. Her golden and crimson eyes respectively staring back would only narrow for a second as she watched Ginjo reach out and stop this man. The smirk which slowly formulated on her face still hidden by the black material of the muffler protecting her face from the sun. She enjoyed to see him put in place for once by a higher up, she found even more joy in the fact that it was by someone that appeared even younger than herself. A slight jump in the pace of her blood flow, it was mildly exciting, and in said excitement, she couldn't help but let her eyes wander, coming to rest upon the shark woman....and immediately her bloodflow would regulate. "How boring..." She would allow her mind to say to herself, knowing to think these words than say them to herself. Still, it wouldn't be much longer before Malatoff would be sent on his way, giving a vague outline to Ginjo regarding their time here and what they were to do. The old man's tone would not be lost on Haruka who would not lose an opportunity to try and make him squirm. Reaching a hand up, she would pull her muffler away from her face, as to not well...muffle her words. "If I may be so bold." She would say first, addressing Ginjo with a nod of her head in acknowledgment to her place. Her own tone far from proper itself, lacking the authority one expects from a marine, it far too laid back in nature. Mocking even, though it would only mock the man whom had tormented her for weeks now, and her words that followed would certainly continue this as she turned to face Malatoff "You shouldn't use such a tone with your superiors." She would point out with a devilish grin. She knew it would only be another jab to him, but not the final one she would enjoy. Reaching a hand behind her back, she would grip the hood of her jacket, and pull it back over her head, defying what he had done to her only moments ago with ripping it down. Though he had been rough about it, fortunately as her fingers traced the material, she didn't feel any rips in it. Only when it was as it was, she bringing a hand up and running it along the white furred material lining the hood of her jacket until she was satisfied. That she would finally close the umbrella, it having outlived it's usefulness, and just in time for her to hand back to Malatoff as he was leaving. She offering a knowing smile as she handed it back. "Sir, perhaps you should take this, it's hot out today..." She would offer, enjoying one final laugh at his expense. She would be caught off guard by Ginjo tossing the stack of papers he had been tossed regarding his unit. She would chalk it up to one of two explanations, even after the one he gave. Either he just didn't want to bother with it, or he couldn't read, one of the two. In either case, she would only shrug her shoulders, eyes snapping to Dahlia who made herself known with her distaste toward the shower of paper. Both of them, would question her in regards to her name, back to back practically, though Dahlia's method wouldn't be lost upon her. She briefly considering a remark of her own, but she doubted very much she wanted to start things off this forward with her superior. Once more pulling down the material, she would allow herself to speak clearly. "Haruka, sir and ma'am. Akiyama Haruka, the Crimson Fang as they've called me." She would pop her right leg out a bit, allowing the weapon strapped to it to bounce lightly, her arm mounted blade which she was signalling was a portion of her name sake. "Show me a map, and I'll point you in the direction you want to go." Her words would be a far bit kinder, more genuine to these two than the sarcasm and subtly malicious undertone she had taken with Malatoff for the displeasure he had caused her. From the looks of these two, she was going to enjoy working for them, and she couldn't wait. |

Ginjo grinned a bit at Dahlia and arched a brow, "I'm not a perv. I'm someone who can appreciate a beautiful sculpture." He teased her as they had awaited the duo from the ship- he had let her lead the way, in no rush to meet them as they managed to make their way up to them and await the scene to play out. Once the old man was set in his place and sent on his way, he stopped and twitched at Akiyama's words, and his twitching became shaking with rage- he had already been embarrassed by a "child" in his eyes. Now this (in his eyes) useless piece of shit was actually trying to rub salt in his wounds ...?! His eyes hardened as they stared down at her as he slowly reached out with a shaking hand- the wrist now evidently bruised as he resisted the urge to strike the smart ass girl down. Grabbing the umbrella, and yanking it form her grasp as he slowly- jerkily turned back to the ship and left. Dahlia's finally jab as he walked away however, caused him to start to turn- until he heard a click he was all to familiar with. Slowly his eye trailed over his shoulder, looking at Ginjo who was watching him with a calm expression- eyes controlled, a hand on the hilt of the Katana at his side. A warning. The old man took a breath through his teeth- and left without another word as Ginjo didn't smirk, nor did he apologize for his new crewmembers actions- he let it be. Turning to them as he threw the papers he blinked at Dahlia's comments and arched a brow, "It's better if Paper is used. If it was metal or somethin' it'd be bad, but paper is meant to be thrown out like that so it can decompose properly." He clarified with a gentle smile, "I don't pollute if I can help it., Dah. But if you insist." He said simply before scooping the papers out of the air as they were falling, as he did- he glanced at the woman as she took a step forward, motioning to the unique blade before clarifying she was indeed a navigator. The smith in him was interested in the blade- but for now he would let it be. He nodded some as he motioned for the other crew to come up, "Everyone get packed up- make sure everything is distributed fairly, not evenly. If someone is struggling and your fine- help them out." He clarified as the ten men and women nodded and started to distribute the packs, tents and so forth among them. "Also, someone get me a map for this island." eventually one of the young men brought him a map and he accepted it with a simple nod of thanks, taking it out and handing it to their new Navigator. "We need a solid location for a base camp, away from the temples and revolutionaries. Their on the southern side of the island from the last reports I read- we don't want to deal with them unless we have no choice for now. Information is needed before we go barreling in smashing faces." He commented glancing at Dahlia with a bit of a coy grin, before he waited for the directions needed from Akiyama, he would finally introduce himself formally. "As you heard, I'm Ginjo. This is Dahlia- it's nice to meet you miss Akiyama." He clarified with a smile, before he began to gather his minimal things, washing off the sweat from his training with a large leather bladder filled with water- holding a long tube from it that seemed to be use to drink from it. He pulled it onto his back placing the backpack filled with his basic smithing and weapon maintenance tools, snacks, and so forth. His bedroll going atop the bag as he adjusted the straps- keeping his "Justice Coat" folded and placed into the bag. "Everyone change out of Marine uniform. We need to keep as secret as possible. Don't worry about stripping or anything but get out of the marine jackets and shirts, just toss on some normal cloths." He commented as he dusted off his cloths (that were completely normal without the overcoat really). Luckily they were all marines- men and women shared showers and crap, stripping to a bra or shirtless was nothing anyone would likely give a fudge about. Maybe Dahlia or Akiyama- but neither was in uniform anyway so she was fine. With that he waited for Akiyama's recommendation for a base camp as he watched Dahlia curiously, tucking the papers he had picked up for her away. He'd trash them later, thinking of her words he considered them as he placed his hands in his pockets and smiled a bit softly- it was kinda sad really. He knew she was right, he should be setting an example to them, showing them what it was to be marines every second of every day. But that was Tetzou's thing ... he wasn't Tet. He wanted them to find their own way, and do what they felt was right, and not feel limited by such things as rules or regulations. Grinning a bit he slowly stretched before turning to face Akiyama- figuring she would have a location by now he arched a brow, "Alrighty, we're all set. Any recommendations Miss Akiyama?" He asked curiously as he kept his hands in his pockets, not seemingly effected by the weight of the pack- much as Dahlia likely wouldn't be. |

Gin would make some excuses about the paper breaking down and returning to the earth, but in the end it was just that - an excuse. As far as she was concerned, he was just trying to look cool in front of his new recruits, which was a bit annoying but not unexpected for a teenager, she supposed. The sharkgirl would disregard his words in favor of picking at her teeth with a bit of a bored sigh. Her feet shifted idly upon the dock, promptly her to sort of wander in a small circle, silently seeking an output for her energy. Good guy Gin would tell them to divvy up everything between them based on what they could carry, which kind of sucked in her mind as it meant she had to carry things even when none of it was her own. Sighing a little, her eyes would wander along the beach. Being a marine is boring... She inwardly mused, softly licking her lips. Maybe I should join the revolutionaries? The girl snickered a little to herself, knowing full well that her father would probably skin her alive if she did such a thing. "But barreling in smashing faces is the only thing fun about this..." She protested, puffing out her right cheek for a moment before promptly deflating. Becoming a bit distracted by the navigator, Dahlia would raise a brow at the female's supposed nickname, eyeing up the other girl as she did so, her own eyes narrowing a little at how terribly unremarkable the other looked for such an interesting sounding nickname. "Crimson Fang? What's that, your super hero name or something?" She asked, snorting a little. Wandering a little closer to the female for a better look, her short attention span would quickly be snapped up by Gin's command for the lot of them to strip. Raising a hand to her face, she would cup it on the side of her mouth, hiding it from Gin as she whispered towards Haruka. "Be careful of this one." She quietly warned, her eyes sliding towards Gin as she spoke. Allowing her hand fall to her side, she would make a bit of a face as a realization finally struck her. "Bleh, guess that means we're going inland... Gross..." She murmured, allowing her attention to drift away from the waters and towards the dreaded land mass. "What was this place called again? Cactus Island? Sounds great..." She sarcastically uttered, already feeling as though this was going to be a huge waste of her time. |

Shifting her weight from her toes to her heels, Haruka would only rock herself out of boredom as she waited. Eventually getting the map that would be handed over to her by her new Captain, as well as another brief introduction by him for both he and Dahlia. He would of course only echo that old bag of bones in something that would cause her to frown behind the material covering her mouth. "You're sounding too much like the old man with the formalities and traditions. Please, can you just call me Haruka or something, I've heard that man curse my family name for to long now..." She would plead, hoping to have something different. Even a nickname if they wished to do so. No matter his or even Dahlia's response she would move on, opening the map and giving it a quick look. Her study only being interrupted by the snort of Dahlia who would choose to point out her nickname. "As a matter of fact it is, why you want one? We can call you Dr. Teeth." Only briefly looking up from the map, she would offer a playful giggle after this, signifying that she was only having a little bit of fun at the expense of the shark girl, unaware of just how spot on that nickname actually was. Still, whether that would earn some ire or not, it was showing that she was getting a bit more comfortable with her crew. Before she really got back into looking into this map, she would notice the shark girl getting closer, sinepcting her. Part of her expecting to see Dr. Teeth tear of a limb as per her super power. Though she seemed content in just looking at her for now. She only interacting with her as to warn her secretly about Gin. The stripoping off the clothes, she got what Dahlia was talking about. Leaning back over, allowing a hand to come off the map, and it dropping slightly as a result. She would cup her hand over the side of her mouth as Dahlia had, just the other side as to whisper to the Shark girl in return. "Pervert, right?" She would motion with her head towards Ginjo. Still as it would come to business, she would look the map over, after having her fun, and it wouldn't be long before she had an answer. " Yes sir." She would begin, allowing herself to take a step to give him a view of the map, offering one side to him, so she could physically motion with her finger to point anything out. " We can bunker down here, judging by the formations on the map, we can use them to watch out backs for us and only needing to guard a few openings to get in to us. We can take this path to get there as it would be the least stressful on the crew." She would nod with her head, giving the plan. Though there was something else.... Dahlia would point out the namesake of the island, and it would only bring up that issue. "Now assuming, our mission isn't to get rid of some whacked out Priests, sir. I would recommend looking into the local tradition of paying respect to the dead. We don't need any more enemies than we already have." She would in surprising wisdom point out, the reports of Cactus Island she studied along the way to the island really paying off. Edited by Shimura, Sep 12 2014, 02:52 PM.

Dahlia didn't seem to believe the facts he gave on the paper- which just made him shake his head. Whatever- wasn't really his problem if she was gonna be like that. He instead glanced at how she reacted to the idea of carrying things ... and sighed. "I'll take a second pack as well." He stated simply so Dahlia wouldn't have to- mostly because he didn't feel like dealing with complaining about carrying things when he didn't mind it and wanted more weight for training anyway. He nodded a bit to Haruka, "I'm all for less formalities. Haruka it is- call me Gin. Or idiot. Banjo. Blondie. Whatever floats your boat really." Instead he rubbed the bridge of his nose a bit as she called the new navigator out on her "Superhero name". This was going to be a very long trip it seemed. Between her idea that smashing faces was fun, her jabs with someone she just met, as well as complaining already and they had just gotten started- he was already pretty sure he could feel the start of a headache building in the base of his skull at the neck. None the less he didn't pay much mind and instead smiled a bit, "Sorry Dahlia-chan. If it helps, there aren't actually any cactus here- just alot of gravestones." He commented idly as he waited for everyone to get situated. As the pair seemed to whisper he sighed and ignored it, instead glancing at her as she showed him the best location on the map. He glanced at the sun, raising a hand and carefully counting the fingers he had till they hit the horizon. "Mn ... Fifteen minutes a finger, so we got about three hours and fifteen minutes of daylight. Let's try and get to the outcrop like you said then, it's our best position and will give us the safe haven we need." He decided before he then glanced at her, "The mission is to remove the revolutionaries, pirates and bandit grip on this island- it will take a while. But the main issue here is the fact that the Revolutionaries have ties with some of the priests." He frowned and rubbed the back of his neck, "We need to be respectful." He glanced at Dahlia- as if making a point on that. "We don't want to piss off the peaceful inhabitants here. The priests- most of them, have no connection to the revolutionaries. I'd rather they stay on neither our nor their side if we can manage it, so lets not piss them off." With that he turned and headed up, leading the group as he carried the packs without complain, humming a soft tune under his breath as his flip flops occasionally kicked up a bit of earth here and there. There would be some work in this he was sure, but taking the easier route to a place they could with more ease defend was the best idea for them for now in all likelihood. He was not sure entirely how their group would work out- Dahlia had an attitude, but he also knew she was not just that ... it was her barrier, it's why he paid it no mind for the most part. It was simply how she was- he accepted her for that. Still, others wouldn't be so understanding- he hoped she kept her manners about her when dealing with the priests. |

Haruka really did not realize how well her random little superhero name would suit the shark-girl. Dahlia blinked a little, a closed mouth smirk forming slowly, eventually turning into a widemouthed grin that clearly portrayed those pearly white, shark like, teeth that made most people cringe. Over the last couple years of her life Dahlia had learned a little more about people, particularly when it came to telling if their words were meant to be taken harmlessly or maliciously. Something about the navigator made her feel as though she was not trying to insult Dahlia, which was perhaps why the partial fishman decided to dismiss the words for the time being - preferring to grin for a few moments longer. She would give three solid, stern nods as Haruka quickly caught on to the fact that their 'leader' was some sort of deviant. In her own way, Dahlia felt a little fondness for the other female, whom seemed more than happy to play along with her antics, unlike Gin who constantly dismissed them. Perhaps the trip would not be so boring after all... Good guy Gin seemed to be able to read minds as he had apparently taken a second backpack so that she did not need to carry someone else's crap. It suited her well enough. She would already feel restricted just because they were going to be inland, she really didn't need to be dragging something around on her back on top of that if she could avoid it. "Respectful?" Dahlia echoed, having only paid heed to bits and pieces of the conversation, she didn't really see why she needed to be respectful to pirates, revolutionaries, and some priests who she thought were probably just going to call her an abomination anyways. Straying from her thoughts, she realized Gin was giving her a bit of a look. "Oi, what are you looking at me for?" She scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Ain't like I go around picking fights or..." She paused, wrinkling her nose as she tilted her head a bit. "Okay, I kinda do, but not with people who didn't have it coming to begin with..." Shrugging it off, the dark haired young would trail after her new comrades with a wide mouthed yawn that clearly displayed a mouthful of sharp teeth. "Well, whatever. I'll just stand in the back, I guess..." She murmured, giving a longing glance to the ocean before drifting towards Haruka as she walked. "So, why do you call yourself the 'Crimson Fang' anyways? Just 'cause it sounds cool?" She asked, seeming to easily bounce from one topic to the next. |

With a nod of her head, this would be all that Haruka showed to agreeing with the man and his words on the path she pointed out. As well as the details of their mission. "Well, I'd say set up camp and then we can move to the nearest location, judging by the map, one isn't far from where we're bedding down." She would point out in response to the idea they should be respectful, to which she certainly did agree. Even if the shark girl didn't seem to do so on their level. Rolling up the map in her hands, she would look to put it away until something caught her eye. As with the group, most everyone was hauling a pack to their own. She haven't grabbed hers yet and it almost seemed like she would be getting away without one. Though the appearance of a young male soldier, could be found struggling with carrying two large duffel bags. No doubt trying to impress their superiors. but she knew he wouldn't make it far like that, considering the distance they needed to go on top of it. He would soon find the back of her hand on his chest, stopping him as he tried to walk past her. A warm smile hidden behind that black material which covered her mouth. "Let me help you with that. Her voice as warm and caring as her smile. Soon she would have one of the duffle bags hoisted off her back, the strap around her shoulder. The young man still not seeming to struggle a tiny bit with just the one, but at least now he would make it. Her eyes would shift back tot he main group whom was talking, she catching only the tail end of Dahlia saying something about not picking fights. She not exactly one to be a judge on that having only known her for a grand two minutes by this point. She could only shrug her shoulders and try to be productive. Though she would be brought back in with Dahlia turning her attention to her it seems. Going back to the name she poked fun at earlier. "Well..." She would begin, pulling that muffler down to expose her face fully to Dahlia, her pale skin only being shown when she would briefly bring her hood down. "I'm sure you can tell, but I'm not exactly the most....normal looking of humans. Some would even go as far as to call me a vampire or a leech as an insult or to poke fun. With my weapon, the name kind of just stuck, as it became my "fang"." In the middle of her explanation she would have already brought her hood back up over her head. The heat from the sun being rather unbearable on her sensitive skin. Surely it caught the attention of the others, even the grunts who looked at her. She bringing the material back over her mouth as she just sighed out loud. "I come from an island where there never is any sunlight, so I burn easy, okay?" With a dismissing shake of her head, she would simply turn back to Gin, she patting him on the chest with the end of the map as she just tried to move on. "So what say you, Sir Banjo. Shall we start moving?" Edited by Shimura, Sep 14 2014, 01:10 PM.
