Spoiler: click to toggle

With the completion of their last job on St Poplar and Ryan's sudden departure to handle business of his own, it apparently left Amezoku in charge of the crew that he had only recently joined himself. It was actually pretty funny considering the fact that he had just gotten into a fist fight with the guy right before, but that was all water under the bridge by this point. Now, while Ame didn't necessarily feel strange about being in charge of the crew, he could see why the men on board were having second thoughts, but being soldiers they were pretty much forced to comply with his demands. Not like he had anything outlandish in store for them though. They were all pretty much relegated to their normal duties as their marine vessel churned its way through the waters.

Having taken so much time off as of late in order to handle personal business, the newly promoted Lieutenant Commander was eager to get back to work and make something of himself and it seemed that the higher ups were pretty much ready to throw him into whatever mission they had available. This one had been quite a ways away from where they had previously been as they got tossed back out into the middle of the ocean ass opposed to the previous station near the Red Line. He supposed it made sense in the Grand Scheme of things, but the marine couldn't help but get a bad feeling of what was to come based on their briefing of the job.

"Alright, now that we've got the ship steady, We will be setting out within the next ten minutes. Everyone should understand their roles by this point." He said aloud on top of the deck once they had successfully docked off of Little Garden. Off in the distance he could already see the shadow of a massive beast peeking out over the top of the tree line before walking off, a sight that proved to be more than enough to strike fear into many of the men on board. Yes, he had been told about this before arriving here, apparently Little Garden was one of the few places left on the known Earth that was still home to the ancient creatures known as dinosaurs. It was for this very reason that they sent their crew specifically as they were trusted to not pretty much die within the hour of arriving. Well, that was certain if Ryan was still around. Ame could fare well on his own, but guaranteeing the entire crew's safety wasn't as easy. As such, he instead docked the ship on the furthest end of the island and even going so far as to tell the men to leave him behind on the island if necessary.

It was a strange request, but he figured they would understand. Besides, Ryan would likely throw a fit if the fishman so much as got a scratch on his precious ship, so this would be saving him an earache or two as well. That aside though, they also mentioned they may be needing his skill as a medical practitioner as well. As he continued to survey the island the fishman began to wonder where Daniel had wandered off to. The boy had actually been pretty helpful in leading their ship here with his navigation skills, but he wasn't certain if Daniel would be joining him on the island or not.

Despite his initial paranoia about living on a Marine ship, Daniel was actually surprised to see how well mannered most of the ship was. Of course there were the occasional bad seeds in the bunch, however Daniel had to admit most of them took him in with open arms. They didn't really pry into his past that much either, which was good since that meant he didn't have to figure out some false alibi to get by. It was nice knowing Amezuko though, even though he was in charge Daniel felt a bit more at peace when he was around him. Sure, most of his nights were hard to sleep most of the night, due to waking up and having to make sure his hands were not chained up. But overall it had a strange 'homey' kind of feel to it. To the point that if things had turned out differently, he could've seen himself joining them.

If things had been different.

Regardless, Daniel just tried to be a hard working Marine on the ship. When someone would ask him to scrub the poopdeck, as often was his job, he would do it willingly. Or appear to do it willingly that is. The deck normally wasn't too bad to scrub, but it was mainly time consuming to the Pirate. However, it was better than sitting around the ship acting paranoid and as if he was doing something suspicious. It was strange to say it, but the three square meals a day part really brought some peace to Daniel's mind as he didn't always know when his next meal was coming. Yes, while on the last island he was in a hotel but it wasn't that expensive of one. Enough to let him scrounge up some change and have a roof over his head. Now he had a meal plan that was going to make sure he was eating all the time, which allowed him to think about other things. Well, things that would make him less paranoid if possible.

But, it was surprising that he would get to use some of his Navigating ability on the ship as well. Every once in a while, just a bit of looking at devices and figuring out where they were helped Daniel become an actual member of the crew. Or as much of one as he possibly could. It wasn't much that he got to do, but enough to help the actual Navigator of the ship with their course. Which, seemed to be going to one of the routes in the Grand Line while Ryan was away. Daniel saw they were going to a place called Little Garden, with rumors of Dinosaurs still existing on an island like that. Dinosaurs, in his mind, were the actual Dragons of the world when dragons had vanished. Well, when all but him and his siblings had gone. Now it seemed they were seemingly his closest 'relative' in this instance.

When the ship was getting closer to the island, and his cleaning of the bathroom downstairs was done, Daniel washed his stuff before going up to the top deck to presumably meet Amezuko. When he arrived there, he saw Amezuko there with a few other members of the crew as well. Looking around, he saw that Johnny was off in another part of the ship, or just in a spot where he couldn't see him.

Slipping into the crowd, Daniel waited to see what they would be doing today on the island. If he even got a chance to go there anyways.

Truth be told, he hadn't really seen much of what the guy could do back on St Poplar outside of some strange fruit ability that had something to do with poison. Of course, this was mainly the sharkman's own fault for diving into the water for his own fight, but even once he had resurfaced, the pirate was a bit worse for wear and it seemed like Ryan had taken care of most of it from there. All of this wasn't to say that he thought of the boy as weak or a burden, he just wanted to avoid any unnecessary casualties from one that was unfit for the conditions that they would be engaging in on Little Garden. Regardless of his feeling, with most of the crew on deck now, including the poison user, he figured it was about time that he gave the full run down of what they had been tasked with doing. The briefing he had given before was rather broad as honestly even he had not been sure of what they were doing until the higher ups gave him a ring on the den den about half an hour ago.

"Alright, I know I'm not the face that you guys usually take orders from, but Glasgow will be out for a while and has left me in charge. I will hope that for your own sakes that everyone here is professional enough to understand that much." He flashed the crew a toothy grin while clenching his fist before continuing on. Back when the hound shark led his own marine crew he had run a pretty tight ship and even with his extended vacation it seemed his method of leading hadn't changed much. "I shouldn't need to explain where we are as that was in the previous briefing, however, our job here has gotten a bit more fleshed out...sort of. Marine researchers who frequent this place have noticed an odd trend over the past few weeks in which the flora and fauna that inhabit the island have been exhibiting strange behaviors as well as large groups of them dying off as if stricken by a plague. Unfortunately, they haven't been able to gather much more than that. The creatures here have gotten a lot more...aggressive than they normally are." This was of course why they wanted him to go, being both well versed in medical knowledge and with the strength to back it up, it seemed that the Lieutenant Commander would be a great choice to at least scope out the situation.

"This will be an extremely dangerous job and I don't even know what to really expect once we begin this trek. If conditions end up calling for it we may even have to spend a night on the island, which is a situations I'd like to avoid if possible, but you should all be aware of this and plan accordingly. Due to the high risk nature of the job though, there is no shame in anyone who wants to sit this out. The rest of you will remain on the ship and remain in contact with me via the den den mushi. Goode will of course be in charge in my absence. Now, if there are no other comments or concerns, we will be leaving in twenty minutes."

Speaking of Goode though, where was the guy? Amezoku figured he'd be one of the first out on deck in order to hear his debrief on the mission, but the guy was nowhere in sight. Strange. soon enough the fishman would get his question's answered as the door to the lower levels of the ship swung open and a shaky marine could be seen struggling to carry a pink haired girl in a modified marine lab coat. The two involved parties were of course none other than Johnny B Goode and Ame's wheelchair bound daughter, Kyuu. The marine sighed a bit as he watched the poor guy struggle to carry her up the stairs. Soon enough his suffering would be over if Ryan pulled through as he said he would, but for now it seemed that his daughter would continue to make him her personal escalator. Now normally the man was ecstatic to see his daughter, but this was one of the few exceptions.

"Mutt! Don't tell me that you tried to leave me behind on the ship while you went out and dragged your damn knuckles across the floor like some blue brutish neanderthal." She spoke with obvious displeasure in her voice as she began to roll the wheelchair forward and ended up running over one of Johnny's toes in the process.

"No, of course not. I was just preparing my men to go out to the island, oh adorable daughter of mine~ I'm sure you wouldn't want to go out to a place like this anyway. Much too dangerous for someone as delicate and pristine as yourself. Why if you-"

His voice was immediately cut off as the pink haired woman rammed into his side with the chair, forcing the fishman to the floor as she began to comically run him over repeatedly. "You idiot! They also asked me to go out on this trip and study what's causing this, or did you forget that I'm also a researcher and there's no chance in hell that I'd miss a chance like this!" She screamed aloud as she increased pace now and began to run over the shark even more quickly than before.

"Okay okay! I get it. You can come, sweety! Just let daddy off the floor now. Oh god, I think my dorsal fin might have bent!"

Well, it seemed that their mission would be involving the dinosaurs on the island like he assumed it would be. From what Amezuko was explaining to the group, it seemed that something was going wrong with the inhabitants of the island, and it was their job to figure out what was causing it. The affliction sounded weird though, making it sound like the dinosaurs were... dying unnaturally. This sounded pretty dangerous overall, with the Marine in charge even saying that there was no shame in wanting to stay back in the ship. But even with that thought, Daniel knew his safest place was with the Fishman at the moment. No matter what he was going to go on this mission and try to help as much as he could without getting caught. This could really be bad, but he just had to figure it out eventually.

As the twenty minute timer started ticking down for the lot of them, with a lot of talks between the men to see who was going and who was staying behind, the daughter of the Fishman had arrived on the top of the deck, along with the man who would stay behind Johnny. It seemed like the daughter would be accompanying the group on the mission, more than likely because she was a scientist and could examine any information the group could find about the dinosaurs they would be researching. The only problem would be making sure no dinosaurs caught them off guard, it would be a bit harder to do with the woman in the wheelchair but he imagined the group could manage. The Fishman was a pushover for the girl anyways, so if anything threatened her he would more than likely try to get in the way of those plans.

As Daniel watched from the crowd, it seemed that the case was still true as the daughter was abusing her father as she was running him over comically. Well, it appeared at way but he was sure the Fishman could've picked her up to correct the problem if he had really wanted to. But nonetheless, Daniel couldn't help but chuckle at the events, they were still a family after all and that's how normal families still operated.

Would his have been that way if his family been able to stay together? He didn't want to think about it and get super sad about it all. Rather than get sad, he decided to approach the Fishman for a moment. Walking through the crowd, lightly pushing away people when he would need to, he approached the now 'roadkill' of a Fishman and the girl running him over. "Sir, I have a question." He said, realizing both of them were his superior officers and deciding to throw up his arm in as good of a salute position as he possibly could. "Are there any maps we should need for the island? If so, should I collect them to try and help us find any good locations to find the source of the problem?" He asked, hoping he wasn't going to get yelled at by either of them.

As Ame continued to face his punishment, he could see Daniel approach them before immediately tensing up into a salute now, moving in a manner similar to that of one who had forgotten something important just moments before. Still, nicely done, it seemed that he had adjusted pretty quickly to pretending to be a marine. Remembering to do so for superior officers as well doing it with pretty great form and stature. Hehe, maybe in a past life he actually used to be a soldier or something. Nevertheless, he rolled over now and lifted the wheelchair and scientist off of himself in one movements before placing them to the side. His poor coat had been covered tire marks now, but it was no big deal as he placed a web hand on top of Kyuu's head now and began to rustle her hair a bit which seemed to annoy the woman to no end.

"Of course. HQ sent us a map along with the details for this mission. It's the same one that the field researchers use when they come here. I'd hope they wouldn't just send us into this place blind." He continued to jostle with the pink hair in the palm of his hand before feeling something sink into them as the girl angrily chomped down on one of his fingers. The shark man's thick skin prevented any harm from really coming to his body though as he continued to speak with Daniel as if nothing was happening. "Yeah, this would probably do a lot more good in your hands than mine. These sorts of things seem to be your forte." With his free hand, the lieutenant commander managed to reach into his coat and hand over the map he was holding on to to Daniel now. The fishman himself had looked over it a few times in order to get a good lay of the land in order to avoid getting lost and avoiding the known danger zones on the islands. Besides a good idea of landmarks and general paths to take though, he hadn't really gotten much out of it.

"Be sure to get all of your preparations done with though before you begin to focus on that too much. Judging by your question and tone of voice, it's apparent that you intend on coming along and I can't have you nor any of our men dying today. Understood." He seemed to be a bit more serious towards the end of this than he normally was, which was pretty contradictory with what was going on considering that Kyuu was still hanging from his hand with her teeth sunken into his fingers. He had been wondering for a few moments why he was getting strange looks from the other crewmen before looking to his left hand and laughing a bit. "Oh, don't mind this. She just does this type of thing from time to time. Kitty has probably had a bit too much sugar for today and is getting hyper. Isn't that right sweetie~" He smiled while trying to move her but those jaws were locked down tight on his hand. At this rate it seemed the jaws of life would be necessary.

Regardless, prep time was nearly over as Amezoku was pretty pumped to get the operation underway, after all, this was his first real job since his vacation. Sure, they ended up saving some slaves back on Poplar, but that just sort of happened. This was a a structured and planned for type of deal that had been given to him by HQ. He just needed to do a good job and soon enough he'd be able to more than make up for all that lost time.

Well, Daniel was still getting used to the fact that Amezuko was very lovable to his daughter while having an otherwise scary personality to others. The man easily got his wheelchair user of a daughter off of him, before wanting to harass her by ruffling her hair for a little bit. Daniel was then told that there was indeed a map that the Marines had given him with a layout of the island. As one of his fingers were now going to be food for his daughter, he pulled out the map and handed it to Daniel.

Stepping forth to take it, Daniel opened it up to get a quick view of the island. It seemed that most of the territory was full of dinosaurs, especially some areas where packs of them stayed together. However, one section of the island seemed to be without notes. Could that be where most of the commotion was going on? With the Fishman Marine calling his attention back, Daniel rolled up the map into his hands to finish paying attention to the man. He said that Dan would need to finish getting his belongings together in order to make sure he was all ready for the adventures on the island. A more serious tone at the end of his talk alerted Daniel to the fact that this would be a dangerous place, full of dangerous creatures. He would need to be on guard almost the entire time to make sure him and the others got out of it alive. Gulping slightly, Daniel nodded before leaving the Shark and his cannibal daughter on the deck to go below deck.

Down near the bunks, he found a few people getting their bags ready for the mission. Walking over to his bunk, he realized there wasn't much for him to grab there. Taking out his issued bag, he pulled out some things that he kept underneath his pillow. A small canteen of water, a small flask of whiskey just in case he needed some liquid courage, a few small snacks. And, wait what was this? It was a candy box with 'Marine Admiral' written on it. "Ryan..." He said, trying to laugh it off. He had to admit, if the captain had done it it was pretty good. No one else knew about it after all. Taking the map from his bed where he placed it, he slid it into the bag until he would get above deck. With the small supply of items to try and keep himself sane, he slowly went back up to the deck with the rest of the people.

Once he was up there, he brought the map out once more. Realizing that he didn't have a compass, he swore lowly before someone tapped him on the shoulder.

"Need this?" The voice asked. Turning around, he found that the main Navigator of the vessel was there, offering him a compass and a few pencils to write upon the map. "I'm not really much of a field person, so hopefully this will do you some good out there." He said, scratching the back of his head with his open hand.

"Thanks!" Daniel said appreciatively, sticking the pencils in his jacket pocket as he kept the compass in his open hand.

"Think you all will be alright out there?" He asked, worriedly. It seemed that the man didn't want to go out there, but also wanted to make sure his friends in the group would be alright. Daniel could see the sentiment from his words.

"I'm sure we will, but I think a little bit of hope will go a long way out there." Daniel said, honestly. Glancing over at the Fishman to wait for the order to move out, he stuck the compass in his pocket and rolled up the map once more.

As things came to a close and the crew met him out on the deck to prepare for departure he was somewhat surprised by the turnout. The group itself was still rather small all things considered, but it was more than the four or five he expected seeing as not many people were all that willing to enter an island of giant monsters. Just went to show that Glasgow had some pretty brave and dedicated soldiers amongst his division, which left the fishman with some rather big shoes to fill at this moment as they would surely be expecting the same from him despite the different mannerisms between himself and the conman. With everything set and in order though, the marine straightened his coat before stepping down the walkway and on to the docks with the expedition crew following closely behind him.

While most everyone else in their party was forced to trek across the ground on foot, Kyuu (not surprisingly) had become the one exception to this as her father was carrying the girl in her wheelchair in his arms, much to her own disdain. Not like there wasn't good reason for this though, the jungle terrain was definitely not the best place to be trying to push around a chair as in a lot of the area on their current path either had deep trenches of mud, were rough and rocky, or there were several thick tree roots spread out before them. With all that said, he decided to carry her for the rest of the way in order to minimize any unneeded troubles despite all of her protests. It was either this or he sent her back to the ship as a direct command as she was clearly not fit to be going on this job, and while it wasn't often that he pulled rank on the young scientist like that, if the situation called for it he would not hesitate.

Upon leaving the ship, a couple of hours had already passed of them following the safe path that had been marked upon the map by previous researchers and things seemed to be going well for the crew. The sounds of wildlife and movement could be heard all around them and even strange animal sounds in the far off distance, but nothing had bothered showing its face quite yet, making the trek rather tense for all parties involved, but relatively safe so far. His observation Haki in full throttle at the time being, Ame continued to focus on sensing any sort of hostile intentions coming their way, but he found himself tiring way too often if trying to keep up this intense level of focus for too long. A sign that he still had a ways to go in mastering his affinity for the strange sixth sense, but this was an excellent opportunity for practice. After all, knowing off the approach of a predator even a couple of seconds in advance could mean the difference between life or death here. It seemed that this so called safe path managed to live up to its name so far though, and seeing as he had been doing this for the past half hour or so, the Lieutenant Commander decided to give his mind a break for a bit

Honestly, by this point he was starting to regret setting port so far away from where they needed to investigate, but it was definitely the best course of action considering how bad things had apparently gotten here and the further they headed inland the more apparent it would get. There were some subtle difference even this far into the island that he could make out such as the small animals scurrying about seemed to be much more timid and fleety and the greenery all appeared to be more feral and twisted than what they encountered near the shoreline. It was all very ominous in a sense, but he didn't bother to bring this up with the soldiers tailing behind him. The men were already stressed as it was, no need to add any further weight on to their shoulders unless it seemed needed.

They had only continued on for a bit more after this when something began to move their way and make its appearance known to the squad.

Daniel had to admit, the group was more than he originally thought it would be. With the Fishman leading them while carrying his daughter in her wheelchair the group of Marines and Daniel set out to find the cause of the Marine reports. The group weren't really that lively of a bunch, for good reason as well. They were almost walking into a suicide mission after all, especially without real knowledge of what exactly was making the dinosaurs more aggressive. The only person that was really talking was Daniel, as he was telling the group which path to take most of the time. With having someone near him holding the compass, he followed the maps direction to try and get the group towards the area of the island where they would more than likely get them towards the 'eye of the storm' so to speak.

The sounds of everything around them became more heightened the longer they were on the island. The guy who was holding his compass would often jump at the noises of rustling around them, but Daniel had to do his best to follow the compass's directions to guide them. However, after a certain point it was obvious that something on this island was definitely wrong. The plants were all mangled and twisted, as if from some sort of horror movie set. Some even appeared to have been trampled recently, but not an entire section. It just looked like one of the beasts had trampled through there, instead of a herd. Now, Daniel was just assuming this at best but overall it was still a bit worrisome.

With Amezuko at the front of the group everything was still going fine for the most part. However, something roared around the area that made almost everyone in the group jump. Before long, a loud rustling was heard and soon it was coming from behind the group. Turning around as quickly as he could, Daniel saw the thing that was chasing them. He had only heard of this kind of beast before, but it had matched the description.

Standing behind the group was what was called a Triceratops. It stood above all of them, save for their commander. The shield of a skull it had was covered in all different colors, but over the horns it had sickly white properties upon it. Over his mouth it had green ooze going over it, and as it snarled it showed off it's deep yellow teeth. Now, normally these things were plant eaters and only fought if attacked first. But, this one was different.

Glancing down at his map, Daniel realized that the safest path he could've taken them on was near the triceratops area. It was still a bit better than going through raptor territory however. Peering up again, the beast stomped it's foot in preparation before tensing its muscles to charge. "Everyone get to the side!" Daniel yelled out, his want to live making sure to have him run to his right to try and avoid the beast.

He just hoped his comrades would have the same thought process.

Amezoku wasn't anywhere near as knowledgeable in the names and descriptions of different dinosaur species as Daniel was. He had some reports and such to look over that they had been given in the mission debriefing, but had left those up to Kyuu to look over as it was not only her area of study, but also what she loved and wanted to do anyway, so it all worked out. Despite all of this though, he could quite easily recognize what appeared to be an animal that was in pain. Even if the strange green liquid seeping from between its mouth or the strange white growths on its face were natural for this creature the expression on its face seemed more pained than usual. "Everyone get out of the way, now!" Amezoku and Daniel would both end up calling in unison as the beast assumed an aggressive position.

"Mutt, something isn't right here. Make sure not to kill it, I need to study this thing." Kyuu chimed in as Amezoku put her wheelchair down and gently pushed her to the side where daniel and the other troop had run off to. "I have no intentions of killing a wounded animal. I'm a doctor after all, not a murderer. You should know me better than that by now, Kitty." The shark man would respond as he stood his ground in something like that of a challenge to the wild animal. One didn't require the use of Haki in order to tell that this animal was in pain and once he got it to calm down a bit then he could begin treatment as best he could. "Just make sure everyone stays back. I will be handling this."

A moment after saying this the triceratops would push away from the ground and begin its berserk charge, head flailing wildly as it set its sights on the much smaller fishman. Rather than attempting to dodge though he simply watched, waited and observed for the proper timing before latching his hands around one horn each in an attempt to stop the attack dead in its tracks. It didn't quite work out as well as he fishman hoped for though as he founds his feet sliding across the dirt and steadily losing traction to the charge. The beast appeared to be much more powerful than he believed at first glance. Not like he had any intentions of giving in though. No it was the opposite, now he was more certain than ever that the triceratops would have to be incapacitated before anything else.

Looking behind him the Lieutenant Commander could see that they were steadily closing in on a massive tree that would more than likely crush his body if he allowed the beast to continue pushing him. Releasing one of his hands from the tight grip on a horn, the fishman hosed down the earth beneath the two of them with one of his water dials before releasing his other hand and using it to slide underneath the creature to get a clear shot at its underbelly. "武貫 Bukan!" A sphere of water would surround his hand as it launched upwards and struck the animal in its gut with the force that couldn't be matched even by a cannonball as he water from his hands left and entered the animal's body and the triceratops found its body lifted about ten feet off the ground before falling back to the earth in a heavy crash. That should have been enough to incapacitate it, the fishman thought to himself as he approached the creature. Behind him he could hear the yells and applause from the other marines who seemed impressed with his display of skill. Hm, that was right, it was their first time really seeing him in action, huh?

Approaching the triceratops now the fishman found himself once again on the defensive as he threw an arm up and blocked a mighty tail swing which even when blocked had enough might to push him back a bit. "Not giving in yet I see...."

Daniel had to admit, watching the Fishman fight that dinosaur was pretty entertaining. Back on Poplar he did not get a chance to see the Fishman in action, which could be good information to have just in case he got himself in a super bad situation. Seeing as the other man knew a little about his own powers, with him knowing how much better he would fare would be a lot better for him in the end. The fact that the man was even able to force the thing back with his own brute strength was impressive. The water rushing underneath the beast was a nice touch as well, but before Daniel could keep watching, something behind him was wanting to make it's presence known.

Behind the Marine group, a smaller dinosaur than the one Zuko was fighting appeared. Some of the men were already taking notice, pointing weapons at the beast without a moment's notice. This thing Daniel didn't really know, but it was at least a foot or two taller than him, along with being much longer. It had similar features to the other beast in how it's skin was sickly white, and having some weird purple patterns upon it's face and claws.

Daniel almost brought out poison into his mouth to spit at the beast, but he knew that it'd be super bad if he did that with the others around. Scribbling a big 'X' onto the map where he thought their location was, he threw everything to the person next to him. They caught it, although it was very apparent they were confused with what was going on. "We're at the X, look at the map with the words being normal looking to you. Keep going north for now, then head east when you find the large rock on that section. If I don't come back in time, follow those words!" Daniel said, already regretting what he was going to do.

Before the man could protest, Daniel was already running straight towards the new reptile. "Everyone, get back!" He said, before sliding right underneath the thing. It tried to bite him, actually getting the hat that was on his head before he had went under. When underneath, Daniel got upon the dino's other side before jumping up to grab the tail. "I'll lead this thing away! Make sure Amezuko is fine!" Dan said, before being able to pull the thing a bit. The new dinosaur was surprised at the thing, making it jump before it started running off into the forest. With Daniel still holding onto the thing, he had no other choice than to stay upon the thing's tail as it was taking him for a ride through part of the jungle.

The triceratops was back on its feet now and even worse yet was the fact that another creature had decided to rear its head near the rest of the group, including Kyuu as Daniel instructed them to get out of there just before being taken away by the other animal. "Geez, it's Amezoku, not Zuko. How many times do I have to tell that boy?" He questioned aloud while scratching the back of his head. Well, no matter, with the other beast led away, at least now he only had to worry about protecting everyone from the first of the two that had arrived. Inspecting the animal with his eyes now, he could see that even though it was back on its feet and still seemed as ferocious as before its form was slumping quite a bit and its breathing had grown rather heavy. On top of something being wrong with it, the animal had also sustained quite a shock from that watery fist into its abdomen but refused to lie down.

Curious, the fishman began to focus his observational Haki on he animal in order to get a better gauge of its feelings, but was only getting mixed signals from it. Feelings of pain and agony but at the same time a level of intense blood lust with a mix of fatigue and worry. It was like the beast was trying to hit every possible end of the feels spectrum, but was that really possible? This was the first time that the Lieutenant Commander had experienced something of this nature and while he was no master of Haki by any means, he felt that he at least had a decent grip on his ability as he had used it extensively since receiving it. From what he was taught, the skill was like a muscle and would grow in power the more it was used, so if anything he had gotten more gifted in its use over time. "Like I said, everyone stay back and don't do anything to hurt this creature, I just want to knock it out for long enough that we can check out its condition." He had been asked to come her as a medical officer first, after all.

As the creature charged again, the fishman could already entirely see through its actions and was making counter movements now. "矢武鮫 Yabusame!" From the water dial strapped to his hand he released a bit more water while slinging his hand forward and firing a barrage of small bullet like projectiles. Due to the low trajectory of his aim, most just crashed harmlessly into the ground, but the rest followed through on their purpose and riddled the creatures legs full of wounds that caused it to lose its balance for a moment and stumble forward. He didn't really want to have to hurt the poor thing like that, but he really needed for it to stay down and stop charging everywhere. It was fine, once the opportunity presented itself, he'd be sure to patch up those wounds as well. It was the least the marine could do right about now. Leaping to the side in order to avoid being crushed by the toppled monster, he expected to look back and see it lying on the floor, but instead it had already risen again and was dead set on attack him once more.

What was up with this animal, it was far too relentless for its own good and by the state that its body was in, it was painfully clear that it was fighting against its better knowledge and the signals that were sent by its own body, so why would it not just sit down and stay still? The more he watched it and listened to its feelings the more confused he became by the predicament, but it seemed he was being forced into a corner here where he would have to go back on his previous word.

"So if you're done flailing around over there like an idiot, I have a plan, Mutt...."

The beast that was pulling Daniel along was definitely strong, and it seemingly knew the jungle around them very well. Daniel was barely able to keep his eyes on where they were going as the thing stampeded into the jungle. At one point it rounded a turn quick enough for Daniel to lose his grip and fall off the dino, crashing into the ground and rolling for a few moments. Getting back up onto his feet quickly, Daniel was already forming poison around his fingers to fight back against the beast. "With no one else around, I'm fine with just letting myself go wild!" Daniel told himself convincingly, getting ready to fight this thing as best as he could. Just as he was about to send a spear of poison straight at the dino, something strange happened: His opponent got jumped by something bigger than the dino.

He wasn't really sure what it was, but it was taller than the first opponent and it's head had a strange helmet-like shape to it. It knocked the smaller dino the side, sending it toppling into a tree for the time being. Daniel stepped back, more than content with having this new 'friend' of his take some of the aggro of the other dino away from him. Getting a better look at this new one, Daniel quickly noticed something strange about it: It didn't seem sickly at all. It looked normal, no strange discolorations from what he could tell. Well, in the way that it made it look like a zombie or something of the like. It just looked like something you'd see straight out of a book, fully real and healthy as all get out.

As the sickly-foe of Daniel's got up, it didn't move for a moment which was strange. It just, stayed still. Well, granted it was still moving a bit to try and size up it's new opponent but something was wrong. Was the beast shaking? Daniel couldn't tell from his angle, but it didn't want to fight this new adversary. Instead of going straight in like what was happening with the group of Marines, it stayed back, as if waiting for the new beast to make it's move. Then, something strange happened: A plant behind the smaller dino came up to hit the dino towards the larger one, almost in a large pushing motion. The dino yelped, before having to now attack the larger creature with whatever he had with him.

Something else went wrong when the larger creature went to defend against the smaller monster. The same kinds of vines that were along the ground and around some of the nearby trees started to move. The larger dino was soon being tripped over by the vines, the plants itself wanting to move and restrict the beast as it was soon falling down upon the ground. The smaller dino used this to it's advantage, going and jumping upon the larger foe for a moment to try and get an upper hand upon the beast. As the vines were still moving though, some flowers were starting to bloom along them. Daniel stepped back from his spot at the moment. Something was going on here, and right now he was just being a spectator to it all.

"I should... go help the thing, maybe?" Daniel said, trying to figure out how to best handle the situation. On the one hand, if he just waited back he could bring back some good information about what was going on to the group. On the other hand, he could save a dino from whatever fate was about to happen to it. Decisions, decisions. And it had to be made quick as well.

A plan? To be honest, the fishman did like the sound of that. Usually when Kitty had a plan then it meant that she had managed to analyze the situation and catch wind of something that he had likely missed during his apparent 'flailing around'. "Anything for you honey, just tell me what to do~" He called back to her while avoiding a rather clumsy attack made by the creature. He was still using his haki in order to keep tabs on its current condition, but by this point his premonitions of when attacks were coming were basically just overkill. The triceratops was much too wounded to move with the same level of speed and ferocity that it had earlier and was simply going through the motions by this point, a clear sign that it was on its last leg, but yet it continued to fight despite their group not proving to be any sort of threat.

"I'd think our so called medical officer would have a better grasp of the situation, but just look at the thing. It's clearly not in control of it's own actions. There's something else at work here."

Then again, he probably should have figured she wouldn't be giving him a direct answer. That was fine though, the fishman had an idea of what was going on here and as the creature prepared for another attack he began to circulate more water around his hand in the shape of a globe and moved in for the attack. "Komorizame!" As the triceratops lumbered towards him he would do a simple maneuver of dodging just barely to the left before slapping his palms into its side. This technique was similar to his previous attacks in that the water around his hand entered the body and exited again from the opposite side, but instead of coming out clear like before the water exited with a dark green color and a slimy consistency as it felt to the floor in a sickly splash. Despite not being hit too hard, the triceratops still found itself falling to the floor and writhing a bit, but Amezoku sensed something different. A feeling of relief and gratitude more than pain or rage for being assaulted. The shark began to scratch his head as he approached the fell beast.

Its body began to kick and squirm but he held it down and repeated the same action as before and forcefully allowed clean water to enter its body and exit again in that same disgusting fashion as before which seemed to further calm the triceratops. "I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, but this seems to be a rather intense infection afflicting this poor animal." It was not too uncommon of something to see, but he didn't really have any bases to go off of as far as proper treatment was concerned and until he could get a proper diagnosis going there was no idea of how it originated. For now the Lieutenant Commander would just focus on helping it as much as possible. "It's okay. Just rest peacefully and I'll take care of everything else." He soothed the animal while rubbing its side. "Kyuu, please bring me my medical supplies." He requested in a solemn tone as he ran his hand over the triceratops body searching for the locations major arteries and such. He really only had an understanding of human anatomy along with a variety of fishman species, so this was a bit different, but soon enough the fishman found his bearings and was hard at work in forcing more of the stuff free from its body and while he felt he was making progress it seemed that it was still spreading.

He would likely have to find the root of this infection and strike then and there to take care of everything or at least cause it to recede a bit. Placing an open palm to its side once more, the fishman began to focus his observation haki to his current limit, focusing only on the triceratops and blocking out any and all possible interference from the outside. "Found it...."

Without really thinking about it, Dan realized that he didn't want to see what the flowers would do to the dinosaur that was unintentionally helping him. Taking off in a dash towards the action, he was already forming poison around his right hand as he rushed forward. Having the poison overtake his hand, he ducked underneath the monster that had dragged him over in order to get to the new monster. As the dino was fighting against the vines, he quickly used his poison hand to try and cut through the vine. "This should make quick work of it!" He said, almost confidently, as he tried to cut the vine that was around the beast. As one of the vines were already spreading around the thing, the former foe of his realized Daniel was there and swung it's tail around to knock him away.

Not being ready for the attack, Daniel was sent tumbling away from the beast. Rolling around, he put his hands out to grab onto the ground to stop his constant rolling. "I should've realized that thing still wanted to fight!" He said, feeling stupid with what was going on right now. Getting himself back up, he wanted to go straight back towards the Dino that was fighting the vines, but ol' Ugly was still in his way. "Alright, time to get back to him!" He said, forming his poison around his hands to create the gatling guns. Firing them off at the thing, he sent the balls of poison out, hitting the beast mostly as well as the ground beneath it.

The gas was working quickly, distracting the thing as it coughed and tried to make light of the situation at hand. Using this time wisely, Daniel raced around the thing to make it to the new Dino. With the vines still trying to get around the beast, there was surely still time for Good Guy Dino to be saved! Right?

Wrong. Just as Daniel was within an arm's reach of the beast, the flowers started giving out some white powder that was spreading quickly within the area. The thing was quickly being covered in the substance, as it started coughing, allowing the substance within it's body unknowingly. "That's not good at all!" Daniel said, a bit getting within his mouth before he started coughing. Now, he was well aware his powers prevented him from getting poisoned, so this stuff would more than likely not affect him. But still, he couldn't be too hasty about it all. Stepping back away from it all, he covered his mouth with one of his hands as he stood back, trying to figure out what was going on.

The vines started moving away from the beast, going back into their original positions as the dino was just sitting there suffering. Daniel tried going straight towards it, but instead of a dino going towards him, the vines shot up and blocked his path. "Okay, this plant really is starting to worry me." He spoke to himself, creating poison within his mouth before shooting it at the plant. It melted the vines that were in front of him, but not the ones that were coming around to his feet. Within seconds the vines were constricting how he walked before they slowly brought him into the air, feet above his head.

It really was never a wise decision to piss off nature.

In hindsight, it was a bit obvious of what was at work here and the fishman mentally cursed himself for not noticing any sooner than he had, but that wasn't important for the time being. Right now he would focus all of his efforts on ending this triceratops's suffering at the hands of this infection. Changing positions now, the fishman began to walk over to the far side of the creature's body and more towards its neck and shoulder area rather than it's belly. That's where he seemed to be sensing the problem to come from rather than his previous position anyway. "This is going to hurt a bit and I apologize." He said calmly to the beast while motioning for Kyuu to roll herself over to his side in preparations for what was to come. Sitting on the young woman's lap was a white bag with a red cross etched across the front of it. Reaching inside he pulled out a small needle and injected it into the creature's veins before getting another one and doing the same. "Just a bit of morphine to calm you down and ease the suffering. Double dosage due to your size as well. It's not really enough to circulate to the whole body, but I can't afford to use all of it on you, I'm sorry. Besides, this should be enough for what I have planned." He continued to speak to the animal in his same calm tone as before.

Whether it be man or beast, the doctor did always attempt to do his best in order to assuage patients of their anxiety for the operation that was to come and guessing by the reduced heart rate and much calmer 'aura' that was coming from the beast, it seemed to be working. Then again, that may have just been the drugs talking. Either way, things were going well thus far. Lifting up two more watery palms, the fishman took a deeply rooted stance and forced his hands against the monster's shoulders, causing the water to enter once more and force out more of the infection than before. It was once again a rather harsh form of treatment, but was the most effective means available at the moment as well as the quickest. There wasn't really time to go into a full blown diagnosis and operation as their whole team was still in the middle of dangerous territory and Daniel was off by himself. Sure, he could have sent a group to go after him, but that was also much too dangerous as this jungle had proven itself to be rather harsh even to the animals that naturally inhabited it. As much as it pained him to do so, he could not in any good conscious put the rest of the group into a position that was practically suicide to save the life of one man who wasn't even an actual member of the crew. If all went well though Daniel should have been fine on his own or Amezoku could even manage to finish this up in time to rush to his aid.

As more of the toxins were flushed out there was something clearly visible under the dinosaur's skin and flesh that was moving and writhing about all on its own but in a rather lethargic way. Hehehe, it seemed that his plan worked after all. The combination of the drugs he had used not too long ago along with the Komorisame skill had considerable weakened the grip the parasite had over the triceratops. Now there was only one true step left to go: removal. Reaching into the bag once more, he puled out a large glass jar along with a scalpel.Normally this tiny knife wouldn't be enough to really do much for a beast like this, so he would have to brute force it a bit, but as long as he was careful and steady then things would be fine. Closing his eyes now, the fishman focused intently on only seeing the aura of both the creature he was trying to protect and the one he was trying to remove before cocking his arm back and jabbing forward with the blade. His level of muscle control through years of martial arts training and committing to delicate medical procedure had been enough to ensure he could stab with enough might to penetrate far enough to get to the parasite but not do any serious muscle damage or anything of that nature.

With one fluid motions he dragged the blade to the side and created a deep and long cut before stabbing into it with his free hand's fingers and pulling out the little bastard which was a bit difficult to make out due to being covered in blood, but it mattered not. Just as quickly as it had been removed it was contained once more, this time to the glass jar at his side. Now, lat but not least, he would need to patch up the recently made incision. Some stitches and a few minutes later and the operation had come out to be quite the success if he had to say so himself. Of course, while he was doing this, he had gotten Kyuu to look over the parasite that had been removed as he administered a couple more drugs to the recovering dino. Just standard stuff like antibiotics and such to combat remaining signs of infection as well as to help its own immune system begin the road to recovery.

"Well, the thing seems to be all but dying now that it has no host body to latch on to, but it appears to be some sort of fauna. Sentient and some form of base intelligence going for it but that intelligence seems to tell it just enough to get by, which is not much more than 'leech on other life'. It also appears to be rather aggressive. Tried to join to me several times. I've never really seen anything like it though. It's quite remarkable." The woman spoke with a rather flat tone as she completed her own diagnosis of sorts

It seemed he had made the right choice in allowing her to come along then considering all of the help she had been, even though he was still rather restless about his wheelchair bound daughter being surrounded by danger in an unknown environment like this. Regardless, the focus now was to get to Daniel before it became too late.
