Spoiler: click to toggle Mary had been stuck on Gesso Island for way too long. Considering the entire place traded in colour it made the place a low priority for traders and other ships in the area to come in and visit, which in turn made catching a ride of the colour-forsaken place all but impossible. After the group of misfits she had been travelling with disappeared shortly after arriving the poor cyborg had been stranded here. Probably the most annoying thing about this whole situation was that, on occasion, a Marine ship would appear and visit for a few hours, usually leaving before the news made it down to Mary, leaving her with no chance to request a ride. The worst part about the whole situation however was the fact she had been stuck there for moths. The lock of red hair she had 'acquired' from one of her past acquaintances was running low and the perfectionist had started to notice a distinct lightening in her skin tone from spending so much time there. Mary had already been taking careful precautions to avoid this very thing happening, spending the rainy days inside, only eating and drinking as much as she had to, and avoiding contact with the locals and water in case it could rub of that way, yet it had still started. At least it seemed to be a slow process. She had hardly lived here all her life and Mary still had some sort of control over her body thanks to her modifications but it really was getting to be too much. Heck, any sort of unapproved modification was too much in her mind so it was too much ages ago. Still there was one way to get it over with. Instead of waiting in the town, resting in her comfortable room and waiting for someone to turn up with information the young cyborg had taken to sitting in the Visitor Centre by the dock, ready to run out the moment she saw someone she could try and barter for passage off of the island with. That was where the next bit of bad luck came in. Ever since she had taken to waiting down at Ultramarine's place the ships had started turning up on the days she could not be there. Because it rained every three days that meant there was one in three days she could not turn up and so far without fail, each and every ship that had arrived on the island had turned up on one of those days. It was getting so bad that Mary had even considered asking if she could bunk down at the older man's place just so she could be there on those days. Of course that would mean she would need to head in to get food every day, and the shrewd old man would probably charge her stupidly high prices just to stay. As Mary sat and stared out at the bleak world devoid of colour on one of her regular trips to the dock she seriously considered it. Tomorrow was supposed to be a day of 'rain' and she had the funny feeling that something was going to happen soon. If the pattern kept up soon would be tomorrow and Mary was truly getting sick of this place. The cyborg was leaning up against the wall just inside of the Visitor Centre and kept glancing out every few minutes just in case. Surly someone would turn up today right? Did she really have to go that far just to get off this island? As she stared out at the bleak landscape around her she could almost feel it staring back. "I'm going to be doomed to this colourless place in the end, aren't I? Why did it have to come to this?" |

Note Sergei frowned at the expansive island of pure white as the ship he was on entered the harbor. Things were definitely not looking up for the Marine. The inventor really did not want to think back on how he had arrived to this moment, but suffice to say it seemed that he would never reach Sabaody. It must be some cruel trick of fate that kept him from completing his mission. The doctor was not sure where the ship he was on heading to after this island nor when it would leave. The only thing he knew was that it was stopping on Gesso, which was apparently the name of the incoming island, to pick up supplies, and if he did not manage to find another ship to leave on then the marksman would be forced to wait on to depart on this ship and just hope that it would go in the right direction. After all, he was done spending any more time on these shitty islands than necessary, especially on a shitty island that lacked any and all color. The man spat into the sea as the ship began docking. After all this time he was nowhere closer to finishing his mission and he had began to grow a bit irritable, sometimes snapping at people who did not deserve it. However, Sergei was aware of this fact and was always trying to suppress his desire to scream in rage and to hijack a ship and sail it to Sabaody. The only good thing, supposedly, to come out of this wondering about was finding and eating a devil fruit on the last ship he was on. Once again the Marine pushed back the details on how exactly he got it to the back of his mind, not particularly wanting to delve upon it. The fact remained that he now possessed the power of the devil and only just had began exploring its possibilities, only being able to do some basic stuff. The inventor emerged from his thoughts as the ship finally docked. Looking around, the doctor was displeased to find that there was no other ship in sight. Heaving a sigh, the marksman descended the ship, his pink shirt marking him as an outsider, intent on stretching his legs and perhaps finding out if any other ships were scheduled to dock here any time soon. |

Mary could not help but stare in disbelief as she spied the ship slowly drifting across the horizon. The fact that her expected ‘soon’ had turned out to be ‘today’ was more than enough to cause a momentary failure in her legs, sending the cyborg woman toppling over, only to right herself again and stare some more. No she was not mistaken, that was a ship, and yes it was coming closer. For a moment she felt her body trying to give way again but with a moment of sheer mind over matter she kept herself upright to watch the ship slowly approach with baited breath. She did not even move a muscle as the dockworkers sprung to action, throwing white ropes and other such equipment out to help successfully land the ship. Walkways were soon set up too, allowing men to get off while the others got about removing cargo and empty supply crates, ready to load up again for when they could ship out again. It was not until her eyes saw a small burst of colour as one man made his way off of the ship itself, not seeming to care at all about the hustle and bustle going on around him, that she came to and finally registered the moment this could represent. Not giving it a second thought the cyborg stepped out into the white light of the island and made her way to the bottom of the walkway, waiting for the man in the pink shirt to finish his decent. “Hi!” she called out, stepping in Sergei’s way with just enough space for the marine to stop before walking into her. “I am interested in purchasing passage on your fine ship! You would not happen to have space would you?” she asked, putting on her best mannerism and voice in an attempt to not sound like the slightly crazed and needy individual she was at the moment. It had not crossed Mary’s mind that the man in front of her would be unable to help her, or even that someone else might be a better choice to ask the question of. She had not seen a captain or anyone else turn up that she could ask and it really was assumptive of her. Still, considering how stir crazy the poor cyborg was going it probably made sense. To her. Too bad no one else was her. |

White. Everything was so goddamned white. Why was everything so white? Why in god's name would you either paint or leave everything white? Sergei was unaware that this was a natural phenomenon, or as natural as a rainbow colored cloud that rained white primer could be. No, to the Marine, it looked like some dumbass decided to paint the whole town white and everyone else went along with it. In fact, all this white reminded him of his grandmother's house, making the inventor cringe at the memory. May she forever rot in hell. Whatever the reason behind the color of the island was, it appeared that most people here were also white from head to toe, making his colorful outfit stand out like a sore thumb. However, the marksman care very little about that fact, not intending to stay on this island long enough for that fact to matter. The doctor suddenly got a strong urge to use his powers of the devil and paint the whole town black. Unfortunately, he doubted that it work out well for him and as such, pushed that urge deep down as he entered the Visitor Center. And came face to face with a female who was not colored completely white, making for a nice change in scenery. Furthermore, it seemed like she mistook him for the captain and wanted to purchase a passage on the ship he came in on. The first thought that ran through his head was, shit. Judging from her overeager desire to gain access to the ship, it seemed like this was the only ship on the island at this time, meaning that he would have to wait till it finished getting supplies. Although, Sergei sincerely hoped that another ship would come in before his current one was ready to go. Then again, unless a new ship was coming in to drop off some passengers and pick up new ones so as to depart the very same day, there was a pretty good chance that his current ship would still be his best choice. The Marine wanted to curse his luck once again but refrained, focusing his attention to the matter at hand. "The ship won't depart for a while so there is no guarantee until then." the marksman said, picking his words carefully to avoid confirming or denying his ownership of the ship. "In the mean time, I would appreciate it if you could show me around the island, seeing as how it's my first time here." the doctor continued. If he was going to be stuck on this island for a while, it would be better to do something other than brood the entire time. Plus, it might be to his advantage to keep the woman away from the ship in case she spots the captain. Sergei was not entirely sure where these thoughts were coming from, but he was not enjoying having them. Granted that thinking like a pirate would help him in his quest, but that did not mean that he had to like them. Either way, what happened next would depend on the woman herself. |

The urge to sigh in irritation slowly gained popularity with Mary's brain. With every word the Marine spoke it seemed more and more unlikely that he was not going to offer her a ride for any price whatsoever. Why did people have to talk around the issue like this all the time? Wasn't it easier to just state what you needed and leave it at that? At least then you would not waste someone's time with meaningless information or dragging someone around by the nose. And it seemed he was going to try and capitalise on the request by getting her to run him around the island for some stupid reason. Eventually the urge won out and Mary's pleasant attitude went out the window. "What do I look like? Some sort of tour guide? If the fact I'm not white has slipped your attention you'd realise I'm no native. If it wasn't for how avoided this island seems to be I would have up and left weeks ago!" she snapped with a glare, "Though if you really want to go check the place out how about you go ask one of the locals to show you around. They really love beli so I bet if you just waved some of that around you'd have them eating out of your hands." Mary didn't even bother hiding her smirk at that. It was a flat out lie and if he tried he would probably find out very quickly, either that or he would attract the wrong attention. Attention that would probably more than happy to lure him off down a white alley and make him just as white. Still, it would be funny to watch if he really went ahead and did something like that, so Mary figured if she was going to get anything out of this interaction at least it would be a good laugh. "If I have to stow away on a ship again it'll be too soon, though I am not saying here another day if I can avoid it. Hopefully this ship looks better than the last one I used..." |

It seemed like the answer he gave to the woman was not the one she had been expecting. Furthermore, it seemed that he words have angered her, probably touching on raw nerve or something. Now Sergei had to decide whether or not he should come clean about the whole thing. Seeing as how the female just went all crazy on him, the Marine did not feel any particular urge to tell her the truth. Feeling a bit vindictive, the doctor decided that he might as well string her along for now. After all, no one gets to be a dick to him without consequence. "It seems that my words were not what you wanted to hear, Miss, but unfortunately, there was no plan to pick up passengers and as such, until the ship takes on the cargo it came here for, I cannot be certain if there will be room for you. I hope that you understand." the marksman replied, barely keeping the irritation at his treatment out of his voice all the while making sure to keep the ownership of the ship as vague as possible. "As for asking for a tour, I would rather get it from someone who won't try to separate me from my money at the first opportunity. And seeing that you have been here for several weeks, I assume that you at least know the surrounding area fairly well. After all, as with any other island I've been to, the locals would just show you the best part of the town and I'm more interested in the actual day to day lives of the citizens, something that someone like you who holds no attachments to this place might be able to show me." Sergei continued, his voice creeping towards a steel edge. "I would also appreciate it if you refrained from using that tone with me." the Marine finished, his voice as cold as ice. While he might have been vague about the ship ownership, a part of him actually did want to see the citizens' regular lives since they tended to be more interesting than the sights that a regular tour guide might show him. The doctor hoped that the female's desire to procure a passage on the ship outweighed her irritation with him. |

" I don't think anyone comes here expecting to pick up passengers. That's why I've been stuck here so long. When they do turn up they always disappear before anyone gets a chance so don't be surprised if the ship is ready sooner than you think. And trust me, you don't want to be stuck here too. It's a long and boring waiting in this white world, even if the insides are pretty nice." Just because Mary understood didn't mean she had to like it, nor did she like the way he assumed things so readily. The cyborg took half a step back into the Visitor Centre, letting the Marine get a better look behind her so he could at least get some sort of an idea by what she meant. Indeed the insides were bright and colourful, with every little piece of wall or free space containing some sort of colourful 'thing'. Indeed some could not be called anything but a 'thing' as they looked nothing like anything Mary had ever seen before. If the outside was white beyond belief this colour was its counterpart and after a while it started to hurt the eyes just as much. "Face it, your choices for a 'tour' is endless white, or this. There isn't even a nice place in town, though that could just be me getting sick of it. The other two things would be those colour hating assholes that would jump you in the back streets or the giant bugs. Trust me, you don't want to deal with those. Its best to leave well enough alone." There really wasn't much else to say. From her time on the island Mary knew it was just a stop, a place people came to get supplies before moving on. It was not like there was anything actually interesting here or fun to do. The only reason people tended to need to stay was because they had no idea about the colour based trading system and thus could not resupply. Considering this ship was just resupplying from the marine reserves they didn't have to worry about stupid things like that, which meant that they would hopefully be leaving soon and she could hopefully get on soon. "If you really don't believe me go look for yourself. I'm not really seeing much of a reason to leave this place right now as all I'd be doing is showing you nothing." |

It seemed like the female was dead set against showing him around the island. Sergei was not entirely sure what her story was, besides being stuck on this island forever and ever, but it still gave her no right to act in a mildly hostile way towards the one person who could get her off the island, even after he asked her not to do that. The Marine looked into the building behind the female with mild curiosity as she stepped back to reveal a garishly colored interior. If he was a lesser man, such a display of colour might have offended his sensibilities. Even so, such a mishmash of colour on every possible surface was rather painful to see. After seeing it, the marksman could understand her foul attitude; however, that still did not give her a right to unload all her frustration onto the first available person who decided to talk to her when it was his first time being on the island as well as being completely unaware of what was happening, or not happening, as the case may be. The comment about the 'colour hating assholes' and the giant bugs certainly peaked the doctor's interest. If he could not get the female to show him around the town, maybe he could get her to show him where the bugs were. After all, ever since he had gotten the power, he had yet to be in a combat situation and now there were two opportunities on this very island to test his mettle and ready himself for the future where he would need to use all of his abilities to survive. The choice now was which group he would practice on first. Seeing as how he had barely gotten the hang of the fundamentals, the bugs were the better choice to test his skill and figure out the extent of his powers. "I would really appreciate it if you could show me where the bugs are. And don't give me some bullshit excuse why you can't do it. As you said, everything looks the same here and I would most likely get lost. Furthermore, if I don't come back, the ship will not leave until I'm found so it would probably be in your best interests to make sure that I don't get lost if you want to leave this island soon." Sergei state matter-of-factly. |

"You really don't know when to quit, do you?" Mary asked rhetorically, rubbing at her forehead in irritation. The cyborg felt so close to her final escape, but for some reason this man kept wanting to throwing something up in her path. It was like that one snake at the end of the snakes and ladders before the final box that you kept hitting. Every. Single. Time. Why he couldn't just give up on this stupid idea and wait patiently to leave was beyond her, but so was why she had to open her big mouth about the features of the island that seemed to attract the deranged Marine. Why the hell anyone would want to go out of their way to interact with giant bugs was beyond her, but it was becoming increasingly evident that the only way forward was a lot of steps back. Finally resigning herself to the fact, Mary lent back and crossed her arms, giving the Marine a once over and sighing. "I'm not going in with you. I have no interest in dealing with bugs and that dark dank place. If you're going in you're going in alone. If what you say is true I'll be happy to accept the extra company on this island while I wait for another ship. One will turn up eventually, I've already learnt how to wait." The cyborg stood and waited for some sign of understanding from the man, either confirmation that he was happy with the setup or something showing her he'd given up finally. Mary would have been more than happy if he just gave up on this stupid notion, but if not at least she could wave goodbye at the entrance to the caves. If Sergei did stick to his guns she would just turn her back on him without any warning of what was going on and start walking. Hopefully he would get the hint and follow the young woman around the outside of the town and away from the safety of civilisation and into the whitewashed background. Mary had never had any reason to go out to the caves but she had found out where they were while trying to find something to do. It was annoying to find that the only interesting thing she had never had a look at was giant bugs, which had nothing to do with any of her interests. It had made her rule it out pretty early on and then the boredom and tediousness of waiting for a ship had set in. Of course that sort of meant she was running blind, and thus it would probably take the pair twice as long when compared to what anyone else on the island probably could have shown them. Mary would eventually stop at one of the many entrances into the buggy caves, turning back to see if the annoying Marine had anything else he wanted to demand. She really had no idea what he wanted to do with the bugs but she figured at least it would be entertaining to watch. If he stuck near the entrance at least, there was no way Mary was going inside those caves. Bugs were gross and giant bugs just had more mass to be gross with! |

Sergei shook his head. For several moments there, he could have sworn that he had regained his hearing and the ability to speak. But alas that was not the case and the Marine was plunged back into the world of silence. The lack of color must have messed with his mind, convincing him that he had regained his senses. After all, that was medically impossible. He would know, he was a doctor. Granted that eating a devil fruit might have done something to his physiology, but he had never heard of devil fruits returning body parts nor healing people, unless that was the specific power of theirs. The doctor would definitely have to watch himself carefully incase something else decided to go wrong. And knowing his luck, something would definitely try to go wrong. But he would be ready. Yes, he would definitely be ready for whatever it was that might go wrong. Perhaps he should not focus on things going wrong and instead focus on his conversation partner. After all, not like he could hear her anymore, not that it stopped him from making educated guess about her tone based on her facial and body expressions. The marksman did not respond to the woman's words, instead copying her body expression and crossing his arms as well, intending to show her that he wasn't going to give in either. Finally, it seemed that he had won for the woman suddenly turned around and took off down the street. Seeing as how before she was determined to wait here, it appeared that she was leading him towards his destination. Granted that she could also be leading into a trap, which was always a possibility. And in case of that possibility, Sergei kept one hand on the hilt of his sword and the other ready to draw his gun at a moment's notice. Fortunately, the Marine ended up not needing either one for the woman led him to the caves where the supposed bugs were in. Like everything else on the island, the landscape was pure white, with only the shadows of the caves themselves breaking up the monotony. Finally reaching the caves, the doctor realized that he had no way of seeing inside the caves aside from his matches, which would not last long and would probably interfere with his training. As such, the inventor hoped that the bugs were not averse to light. "I would appreciate it if you would remain in the area just in case, but that is entirely up to you." the marksman wrote down in his notepad before showing it to Mary. After bringing him here, he really couldn't ask her for much. No matter if she agreed or not, the inventor took out his sword and banged it several times on the wall, hoping that the noise was doing it's job in attracting the bugs. Seeing as how he could not hear if the bugs were approaching, Sergei relied on his eyes to tell him of the approaching danger. Note for Graders

Mary stood back a bit and watched the strange Marine check out his surroundings. For some reason he seemed a little surprised at the nature of the caves, though whether that was because of the bleached out landscape and weird world around them or just because he hadn’t realised that when she had said ‘cave’ she had really meant an opening into the earth filled with rocks. Like a cave was supposed to be. When Sergei offered her a note to read Mary just looked it over quickly and nodded a little. Her reason for hanging around was probably not the one he was hoping for but she would remain near the entrance of the caves, sitting on a nice little outcrop of white rocks that were a little way off from the entrance so that she had a pretty good view of the blundering fool on his adventure of bravado. From her vantage point Mary was able to see pretty much everything the Marine was trying to do. The banging on the rocks sort of made her curious but it mattered little. The bugs were bugs after all. They preferred to hide in the darkness away from humans and would probably be less than interested in the annoying clanging sounds coming from one of the entrances to their home. In fact, Mary was so sure she understood the giant bugs that she was quite surprised when a giant cockroach came barrelling out of the cave heading straight for the foolish Marine. Mary could feel it coming before she heard it so she figured Sergei would too, though if the Marine was looking for a fight he would be hard pressed. As soon as the creature realised its mistake of coming into the light it would try and turn around. Its large size meant it had a bit of trouble turning though so it would probably at least run into the Marine before it finally got the traction to run back into the safety of the darkness and disappear if it was not stopped. It was very rare for the bugs to come so far out of the caves like this so today must have been Sergei’s lucky day. |

Sergei was somewhat surprised when the bug first appeared. He really did not expect it to be that big. It was too damn big for a bug. If he had to guess, the Marine would say that the cockroach was at least three feet tall, standing higher than his waist when scrambling along on all six legs. A part of him questioned his decision to come here and test out his powers on the bugs but the bigger part was still convinced that this was a much better way to trying out his powers on a moving target rather than using a human being. Who knew how the substance he produced would react with human skin. Hell, he did not even know what it was. Aside from being a bit sticky, the doctor did not know much about it. He suspected, just a bit, that the substance might be tar or something similar to that but until he got a second opinion on it, he put it out of his mind. As such, testing it out on a bug would give him some idea what it might do to human skin. Hopefully not much damage, but who knew. Returning his attention to the bug, the inventor noted that said bug was not actually trying to attack him and instead appeared to be skidding on the ground and trying to find traction, the lack of which likely resulted from the speed with which it burst out of the cave. However, it seemed unlikely that the bug would be able to stop before reaching his position and as such, unless Sergei moved out of the way, the two would collide. Thus this was a good excuse as any to attack the insect. After all, if he did not, he would suffer injuries from the collision and that wouldn't do anyone any good. Taking a deep breath, the Marine reached deep inside of him and activated the power of the devil. Raising his hands towards the incoming bug, palms forward, the doctor took another deep breath before sending out a myriad of small globules of tar, aiming them at the insect's legs and shell. The first globules hit the shell and the ground, sending droplets of tar everywhere and it appeared that they did nothing to slow the bug at all. However, the more globules the bug accumulated, the slower it became, until finally it stopped several paces before the inventor, it's feet and body stuck to the ground and unable to move. The marksman was breathing heavily by the time the insect finally came to a stop. He was pleased that the power performed much better than he expected. Going off what he had seen and experienced in the past few minutes, he would definitely have to get more variety in his techniques with the devil fruit. Getting so caught up in using his devil fruit, Sergei completely forgot about Mary. He did not particularly care if people knew that he had the power of the devil, but there were some that were scared by it. Turning around, the Marine looked at the female, hoping that she did not run away and leave him there. |

Mary found herself wishing she had thought to bring popcorn. There was just something about watching a mere man go up against one of the fantastical beast of the world in what she had to assume was unarmed combat that got ones blood boiling. Well, not her blood per say but she was an exception to the rule. Still, it almost felt like her blood thawed out to a normal human level while watching the giant insect bearing down on the annoying Marine, wondering what he would do, holding her breath in anticipation of much blood and pain, only to be utterly disappointed as he started to form some sort of sticky substance with his hands before flicking it in small balls at the creature. Even more disappointing was how that something seemed to slow giant bug without harming it. If there had at least been some sort of blood or gore from the animal it would have at least made up for some of the disappointment but instead it seemed the sticky stuff had slowed the bug to a stop before anything interesting was able to happen. It was a shame really, though it was unlikely that the bug thought that. In fact it was unlikely the bug was really thinking anything more than something along the lines of 'Oh god get me out of the light!' "Well are you going to put it out of its misery or release it back into the darkness?" she asked curiously when he turned to look at her. "Although if you really want to fight it you should rile it up or something, it does not look interested in anything but running right now." Mary's words were backed up by the struggling of the cockroach. The giant bug was thrashing from side to side as it attempted to free its feet from sticky tar that had stopped it and it looked like it was willing to go to any length to escape. Signs of strain were evident on the bug's legs and there was a slow tearing sound that couldn't be coming from anywhere else. Indeed bits of yellowish insect blood was starting to leak out of a tear that was forming on one of its legs as it tried to struggle away. "By the way when you're done I'd like a look at your blood. I'm pretty sure you're not throwing it at the thing but it might tell me something about what you're doing. It could be useful for my research." Mary wasn't even sure if he'd see that last bit but either way she planned on getting a sample later. It was unlikely the ship she was trying to get onto would have the kind of equipment she needed to look into such a thing anyway but if she got a sample for later at least she'd have something to look at. Just because she was a little out of her depth and in no position to do any of the studies or research into what she wanted did not mean the young Cyborg was going to give up! It just meant she was fucked until she got a place of her own which was unfortunate really. |

Sergei read the woman's lips as she spoke, glancing between her and the bug as the latter tried to get out of the substance. Even if he wanted to let the creature go, which he really did not see a reason for considering that it was just a menace and deserved to be destroyed, the Marine had no idea how to get rid it. Hell, he did not know if it could be gotten rid of. While he certainly should have spent more time researching the substance he produced, the inventor have been simply too preoccupied since getting the devil fruit to actually do any experiments on it. He would certainly need to set up something to test the substance whenever he had the chance, though he did not really know when exactly he would get that chance. Maybe when he found a steady passage on one ship or another. More than likely, he would have to wait until he completed his order and got his ass over to Sabaody and infiltrate a pirate crew. Furthermore, it seemed that the female wanted his blood for her research. Just what kind of research was she doing that would require his blood. Actually, it seemed like she thought that his blood was somehow responsible for the substance that he produced. Did she not know about devil fruits? Then again, devil fruits could very well affect his blood. Not that he had studied enough about their effects on the human body aside from what most people knew such as the ability to produce some elements or turn into other elements, stuff like that. Maybe he should spend some time researching that as well? No, he already had too much on his plate and adding this thing would not be a good idea at all. Either way, it was time to put the bug out of its misery. Turning his attention back to the bug, the marksman drew his gun, aimed it at the bug's head and pressed the trigger, sending a bullet between the head and the thorax. The moment the bullet hit, it exploded, successfully decapitating the insect and sending bits and pieces of it every which way. With the head gone, the bug body twitched for a few more moments before falling to the ground, never to move ever again. In hindsight, any other kind of round other than the explosive one would have been a better choice. That was the thought that ran through Sergei's head as he patted himself down, getting rid of the bug pieces on his clothing. Placing the gun back in the holster, the Marine made his way to Mary. "You got any way of getting my blood?" he wrote down in his notepad before showing it to her. He was actually curious as to what she would find and he had time to kill anyways before the ship departed so why not allow her to study his blood and maybe find something interesting that would help him further develop his ability. |

Mary was glad to still be sitting away from the Marine's weird fun. When the man shot the insect parts of it exploded all over the place and if she had been forced to get any of that on her beautiful skin there was going to be a fair amount of screaming to be had. Not the girly type of 'eww' screaming either, full blown angry screams at the Marine and his stupidity and how disgusting it all ways, then a few eww screams towards the end, just to keep up appearances. She may have been a woman of science (mostly cyborgs) but she was still a lady to some extent or another. "I hope you got its brain, those things can survive without a head you know." It was unlikely that the Marine saw that comment considering he was still facing the cockroach so Mary knew she was basically talking to herself while she waited for him to approach. It left her with a moment to wonder why he hadn't just let the bug go, to which she assumed his 'blood' was the same as hers. If Mary had somehow stopped a bug in its tracks like that there was no way she was going to have enough of the chemical to break it down and release the thing, probably leaving her to do the same thing. It was easier that way. "Eh, not right now. I'm rather low on equipment right now so it will have to wait." she replied to the note with a frown, "It's pretty hard to keep up my supplies at the moment but I will be sure to stock up as soon as I get off this island. I've had to use pretty much everything I had on me when I got here to keep myself comfortable while waiting here. I was not joking when I said I've been stuck here for ages." Considering he had killed the bug, Mary figured Sergei had done what he came here to do and pointed her thumb over her shoulder. "You ready to go yet? There isn't much more out here so unless you want to wait for a lucky break on another bug coming out we might as well get going. I'd rather not stay out here too long in case the 'rain' starts up early for some reason." Mary moved her hands to indicate she did not really mean rain but was more referencing what the locals called rain. She knew it would never happen like that but considering the Marine was new to the island he had no idea of that fact. "If you really want to stay out here then by all means, I'd rather be back in the comfort of a building or something myself." |
