CBox Game: Ghosts; It's like playing Mafia or Kira

After my depressing exam, I got pretty bored. So I thought why not just play a game on the Cbox just to kill off time?

Play here: Ghosts Chatango

Overview
This game is called "Ghosts" and it is pretty much a words version of Mafia and a very brisk Kira-like game. Average game length usually lasts around 30 minutes, depending how fast everyone goes. This is all purely played in the CBox and can be a simple game played at anytime if anyone is interested. An organizer can just ask in the CBox if anyone is interested and once we've accumulated a decent amount of people (minimum 7 people), we'll start playing the game. Basically everyone who is playing is assigned a word from the Narrator, which is the organizer. It is important that you keep this word secret to yourself and only yourself.

There are three types of people in the game:
  • Ghosts: You know you are a Ghost if you got either "Ghost" or "Master Ghost". Congratulations, you are the bad guys of this game. Your objective is to deceive everyone you are playing with and make it so that they kill each other. How that's done will be explained soon.
  • Humans: You are a Human if the word you got is NOT "Ghost". Your word that you received is something known as the "buzzword". Other Humans that are playing share the same exact word as you, however, you do not actually know if your word is the "buzzword". For all you know, you could also be a Psycho, which is explained below.
  • Psycho: You are a Psycho if the word you got is NOT "Ghost." Each Psycho will get different words that will relate to the "buzzword" in some way. However, like Humans, you do not know if you're a Psycho or a Human.
So we'll use an example: If the "buzzword" is "Frosted Flakes", then Psycho words can be like "Cheerios", "Lucky Charms", "Rice Krispies", etc.

Once everyone knows their word, the game will start.

The Game
Objective: Humans/Psychos team up to find and discover who the Ghosts are and kill them.

Procedure: The game starts with the Narrator making a chronological order of the people that are playing. Then, the Narrator will privately ask the Master Ghost who to select. The Master Ghost is then able to privately discuss and plan out their strategy. Once an agreement is settled, the Master Ghost tells the Narrator of their selection. The Narrator then reveals the name, and that person starts the round.

In their turn, the person must give out a clue about their "word". These clues can be stories, simple quotes, references, puns, etc., as long as the clue is able to spread some kind of message to other Humans/Psychos. So, for example for Frosted Flakes, good clues you could say can go like: "So one day I was out in the jungle eating breakfast, and some tiger just totally took it away." or "The Frostbite Pirates were so legendary. They're great." Once a person is finished giving out his clue, their turn is done and the turn goes to the next person in order. If it isn't your turn, just observe and analyze.

So, what happens if you have the word "Ghost" and it's your turn? This is where you have to fabricate the most believable bullshit clue and try your best to fool other Humans/Psychos that you aren't a Ghost and that you have a word. It's essential for Ghosts to pay attention to the clues that people give out and see if they are able to make up a clue that can somewhat relate to the Humans/Psychos.

This is why it's important that when you make up your clues, don't make it too obvious! If you make your word too obvious, you will tip off the Ghosts and make their bullshitting significantly easier. On the contrary, if you make your clues too vague for anyone to understand, people will think that you are a Ghost.

Voting: Once everyone's turn is done, the Narrator will give numbers to people. Everyone must then privately cast a vote to the Narrator of who to kill off. Once a majority has been accumulated on a number, the Narrator will then reveal that the person associated with that number is dead. A new round then starts.

Conclusion: The game ends when one of the following happens:
  • The Ghosts win if the number of Humans/Psychos deaths are equivalent to the number of Ghosts that are playing the game (i.e. If 3 ghosts are playing the game, 3 Humans/Psychos are only required to die for the Ghosts win)
  • The Ghosts win if they are able to guess the buzzword correctly. So, if it's your turn and you think you know the buzzword, you are able to come out as a ghost and guess the buzzword. However, if it's incorrect, that Ghost is dead and the game carries on.
  • Humans/Psychos win if all the Ghosts die.

Strategy: Keep in mind that during your turn, you actually have the opportunity to say anything. If you feel that your clue was good enough and that your fellow Humans/Psychos had gotten your message clearly, you can cease to reveal any clues (just so that you don't tip off the Ghosts any further). Instead, you can talk about your analysis and tell the whole group who you think the Ghost is. Or, if you felt you instantly understood the clue of another person, you can tell that person to stop giving clues. This is why it's important when you have the last turn of the round, because in order to efficiently kill someone, everyone must come to an agreement. Therefore, the last person is usually the ultimate decider and has the power to say "Oh, I think it's this person, let's kill him/her off." Remember, you are allowed to say anything in your turn. It just all comes down to the votes and who dies.

Of course, there's a lot of strategy here and that is for you guys to develop. It will be difficult to play this game at first, but once you play a few rounds, this game will become backstabbing and incredibly tense. Who are you able to trust? Can you bullshit your way through?

So, anyone up for a game?

Seems cool but you need to set up a seperate Cbox, because playing it in the main one would make it very hard for anyone not playing to hold a decent conversation.
